Chapter Text
Far back into the beginning of an endless cycle lay the Land of Hylia, blessed under the beautiful golden rays of the skies and its goddesses. The land itself radiated a vibrant green that created a peaceful backdrop to its flora and fauna. Amongst the land sat a large castle, with a small town-Castle Town- below inhabiting a population of human-like people with pointy ears, the Hylians. They were lively creatures created by the Goddess Hylia herself. Her love for her people went beyond as she observed them from the heavenly skies.
Her golden eyes shone towards two citizens in particular. A man with platinum blonde hair and striking blue eyes, and a woman with (h/c) hair and (e/c) eyes. They had no direct connection to each other at the moment, but in the near future, that would change drastically. She could see it with her own eyes, a string of fate had tied them together. Hylia, as she stared down at her people, felt the presence of powerful beings appearing behind her.
Hylia turned around and was faced with the three golden goddesses: Din, Farore and Nayru. “And what brings you to me?” The three golden goddesses floated closer to her with unreadable expressions. “Lest the world fall into despair, a valiant knight and the birth of a goddess shall give way to a new fate.” They disappeared. “How mysterious they are.” Were they ever physically there? Perhaps not. “I must not take their words lightly.” Hylia turned her gaze back towards the land.
In a small flower shop labeled “Floral Emporium” near the southside of Castle Town was a woman. The top of the shop was covered in glass to allow the sun rays to reach the blooms. Her (h/c) hair was pulled out of her face as she tended to a multitude of flowers which seemingly created rainbows throughout the shop. Her dress and apron were smudged in dirt as well as her face and fingers. She rubbed her hands in a slightly dirty rag as she admired her showcase of flowers. Humming in appreciation of her hard work, she decided that it was adequate enough to open shop for the day. She cleaned her face of any remaining dirt and replaced her dirty apron for a fresh one. ‘It was time to start another beautiful day,’ she thought with a soft smile.
The first customer who came was an older woman, whose wrinkles displayed her happy life. “Hello Miss (Y/n)! Have you had a good day today?”
(Y/n) spoke joyously. “Oh today has been wonderful! All of the flowers have bloomed beautifully this morning, I simply had to immediately put them on display!”
As (Y/n) directed the old woman to various parts of the shop to show off her flowers, a young man dressed in a green tunic with gold pauldrons and a red scarf-like cape. It was attached to his left pauldron and brought around his neck to fall down behind his back. It flowed effortlessly as he walked into the shop. He looked around the front of the shop until his ears perked up at the passion the shop owner had about the various flowers. His vibrant blue eyes watched from a distance as the (h/c) colored woman talked about various flower arrangements that the old woman could make for her upcoming event.
“And I believe this sort of arrangement could make for a beautiful centerpiece: a mix of silent princesses, blue nightshade, cool saffinas, with white hyacinths!”
“Oh that would be splendid, my dear! I will certainly have to use those!” The old lady absolutely adored the passion the young woman had for creating bouquets.
“Alright, I will start working on the arrangements that I can easily do now, Mrs. Manday. The rest I will deliver on the set date we agreed upon” (Y/n) disappears into a room at the back of the shop to start working on some of the arrangements that could be easily made.
The man turned back around to admire the flora in front of him as he silently thought about his little sister. ‘I wonder what she would like…’ However, his mind kept going back to the shop owner. Her passion certainly radiated the whole place… or maybe it was just the sun peeking through the ceiling.
The old woman caught sight of the man who was keeping to himself, she recognized him. “Ah! General Link! It's so nice to see you out and about without such a serious face on.” The old woman gave him a toothy smile. The village has a rather large guard in order to keep the peace of the village. Such jobs of the guard pertain to patrolling inside the forest that surrounds the village and the village itself, and enforcing the law. The young man, Link, gave a soft smile and nodded.
“What brings you here, young man? Got a crush on someone?” The old woman pressed on with a teasing smile plastered on her face. Link chuckled in response, “Actually, no. I’m looking for flowers for my little sister since she just finished her knight training.”
“That's wonderful! Allow me to pay for your flowers, young man.” Link panicked ever-so-slightly. “N-no, it’s fine Mrs. Manday.” The old lady shook her head as she sucked her teeth, making a ‘tch’ sound. “Nonsense! It’s no big deal, plus my husband and I have so much money we never really know what to do with it other than to donate. Now pick an arrangement of flowers and I shall pay.”
For the first time since he became captain, which was at the ripe age of 16, now 23, he felt ashamed of his inadequacy of the floral arrangements. “I’m unsure of where to start, Mrs. Manday. However, I know that my little sister loves hyacinths and the colors purple and blue.”
“Ah, I see. Well-” Mrs. Manday was cut off by the sound of the backdoor reopening again. “Mrs. Manday, here are the arrangements I could make as of right now.” (Y/n) said with a smile. “Thank you, dear! I shall return in a week for the rest of the arrangements, should I bring a cart?’
“It’s fine, Mrs. Manday, I have a cart I can use to bring to the venue!” The old lady chuckled. “Splendid, thank you for helping me dear! And please help General Link out with picking flowers for his little sister.” The old woman smiled mischievously in a way that made Link confused and (Y/n) blush softly. “Y-yes, Mrs. Manday. Now have a good day!” The old woman went up to the flower shopkeeper and whispered quietly, “Put his bouquet on my bill please.” The old lady smiles and leaves, leaving the shopkeeper and captain alone.
“S-so for your sister?” (Y/n) couldn’t help but admire the General’s photogenic features. It was the first time she has ever seen the General of her village. The way the sun rays bounced off of his hair made him look ethereal, like he was one with the divine. The air around him was so gentle, yet it was also commanding. ‘I wonder if-‘ “Hello?” The General looked at her, concerned at her sudden silence. “Are you ok, Miss… uh…”
“(Y/n).” She didn’t realize her face was starting to flush. His concern for her was heart-warming, she wasn’t aware that it was what her heart desires. “Ah yes, Miss (Y/n), are you alright? You look like you have the symptoms of a fever.” “I’m fine! It’s just a little hot in here. Anyways, what flowers would you like?” With that conversation out of the way, Link described the flowers he had thought about, still concerned for your well-being. (Y/n) smiled softly, “I know just the arrangements for it. Just stay right here and I’ll come back shortly.” She dipped back into the back room.
After a few short minutes, the florist came back out of the back room with the bouquet in hand. The bouquet contained primarily hyacinths of purples and blues. A couple of tiny white flowers were placed around which almost resembled a sea of stars. Truthfully, most of the time spent back there was to hide the effect General Link had on the florist, but nobody tell Link that. To be fair, he is a sight to behold. His strong gaze resembled that of his physique. She gently laid his bouquet on the counter, “Is this to your liking, sir?” Link walked over, the sound of his boots softly pattering against the wooden flooring. “This is beautifully crafted. How much is it?” “Don’t worry about it, it has already been paid for. Mrs. Manday already paid for it before she left.” Link’s eyes widened softly, “I’ll have to repay her some time. Well, I thank you for creating this bouquet for me. I must get going, until next time.” Link flashes a soft, satisfied smile and leaves. Her heartbeat was stronger than normal, and her face was flushed. “What did he do to me?”
Hylia watched the interaction from above and giggled. “How adorable, they have finally met. Perhaps…”
