Zuko was unique from his entire family because of a line on his chest. No one in his family had a soulmark. Actually, it had been almost two centuries since a member of the Royal family had a soulmark. The fire sages had tried to translate the mark, but it was written in a language they did not know. 

His Father had not been pleased by this revelation. His Grandfather never said anything, so nothing was done. His soulmark was never mentioned and outside his family and a select group of servants, no one knew. 

Zuko never told anyone he could read the mark. He loved to look at his soulmates’ handwriting in the mirror. However, he often wondered why his soulmates’ name and parentage were their biggest secret. 

“My name is Princess Visenya Lyarra Targaryen, daughter of Princess Lyanna Stark, Princess Elia Martell, and Crown Prince Rhaegar Targaryen.”

Lyarra’s soulmark was in an odd language. Maester Luwin had traded letters for a few years before a linguistic expert at the Citadel recognized the language in Maester Luwin’s letters. The language on her chest was written in Fire Nation Kanji on her chest. Sadly, the Maester would not visit Winterfell to translate the language, and her father would not allow her to travel to the Citadel to get a translation. The attempts to translate the mark were unsuccessful.

Her father decided to ignore her soulmark after that, practically pretending that she didn’t have one. He forbade her to speak of it and then forbade the few members of the household who knew about the mark to speak of it. 

She knew what it said, she always had. She could read the Kanji in her soulmate's handwriting for years. However, her soulmate's secret made her worried every time she saw it. 

“I would not change the siege of Ba Sing Se if I could.”
