Chapter Text

“You ready for another round with these guys?” Bodil was a short buff man with pale skin, brown hair, and green eyes that seemed to match his scared face but never matched his personality he was a man full of joy but everyone feared him.

“No but we have no choice” Manolo adjusted his chest plate and his sword hen then sat down looking to the tent exit. Gods how he wished the fight with the volsung would retreat yet so far they showed they never would.

Bodil smiled and before leaving the tent he looked at Manolo “You know it would be better if you prayed to the actual god of war and not the nature god” He tossed him the god of war's talisman and walked out.

Manolo looked at it and sighed stuffing it under his covers and pulling out the goddess of nature's talisman one that had seen better years he prayed to her grabbed his sword and headed out to the middle of camp.

Somewhere with the gods

Maria stormed off with Joaquin right behind her tail “Maria wait come on let's talk about this!” Joaquin called out to her and in return almost got another eye poked out.

“Neither of you get it do you?” She whipped around to face him his face was apologetic and his shoulders were slumped, “You want guys want me to stay up here and keep me away from humans!” she roared making him shrink a little.

“Well we want you to stay safe your sister and I are worried about you going on your own” Joaquin tried to calm her down before continuing “Besides its not that we don't trust you it's just…mortals have been fighting more frequently and longer making your forests and stuff vulnerable so that makes you vulnerable”

This made Maria fume even more “So you think I can't handle myself?”

“Well Yes” Joaquin shrugged but quickly changed his answer “NO I mean no of course yo-” and within a split second she disappeared leaving behind leafs. Joaquin groaned and walked to his room he’d look for her later.

Down in the forest with Maria

“They think I can't handle myself! But Im just as strong as any other god out there!” Maria had resorted to venting to a wolf if Joaquin and her sister Samantha wouldn't listen to her then this wolf would “Like what are they worried about!? I'm not made of sticks! I won't burn if this forest burns! Im Immortal for god's sake!” The gray-haired wolf set his head on her lap looking at her with sad eyes as if it understood….well it did to some degree she could speak to them. “It's just so ridiculous” she sighed before continuing “Your my only friend thanks for listening” She stroked his hair she smiled when she saw its tail start to wag.

Then suddenly a prayer came in not that it was odd but for the hundredth time it was a soldier praying for protection. But that was not her field she was a god of nature not war why did he pray to her? It's not like he was praying to pick good berries it was always for protection. She decided she would have to see him one day set him straight and make him pray to the actual god of war and not her.

Back with Manolo

He had been put with a new group whose place on the battlefield was the frontlines god how he hated the frontlines he was lucky he survived being there twice.

“Hey, Manolo!” Manolo turned to look around and found his friend Gunnar a tall bulky man with brown hair and brown eyes his right arm was covered in scars. He waved him over and Manolo smiled walking towards him.

“Hey Gunnar long time no see almost thought you were dead” They hugged patting each others back and laughing

“Back at you my friend” he laughed and motioned to his left arm “I was at the infirmary for this they almost chopped it off” He lifted the cloth on it to show a huge deep gash. “They said it should be fine as long as it's covered if not then they would chop it off”

Manolo sucked in his breath that was way worse than he had thought “Well hopefully they won't take your arm off” Before he could say anything else his new general interrupted.

“ALRIGHT! Soldiers get in your formations, we start the march now!”

Manolo sighed and looked to his friend “hope to see you after this. don’t do anything stupid”

“I hope to see you afterwards too and don’t worry I can’t really do anything stupid this time” he laughed and switched spots with the man next to him.

Manolo jogged over to his spot did a silent prayer to the nature god and hoped she would listen to his prayer.
