The clip goes viral the same day, making the rounds on twitter and circulating on other sites, including overseas. It's at the end of one of the final matches that Mimura Subaru will play in before his announced retirement from V.League at the end of the season—rumor has it he's already received multiple coaching offers after expressing his interest, including from his alma mater, Fukuhou Technical High School—and a rare but close loss. The opposing team is one commanded by a former teammate from his high school days, Takasugi Jungo.
Takasugi-senshu extricates himself from the throng of his celebrating teammates and jogs out of frame in the direction of his team's bench. He returns moments later, the faint smile on his face pulling wider when Yoshii-senshu claps him on the shoulder as he passes by in a brisk beeline for the net, which he ducks under, and then comes to a stop beside Mimura-senshu. The ace and a couple of his nearby teammates quiet and watch Takasugi-senshu's approach with curiosity. Their eyes widen and a faint gasp sounds from a crewmember near enough to the microphone to pick it up when they realize what's happening as Takasugi-senshu drops down on one knee. He holds up toward Mimura-senshu some small object that cannot be made out but which no one needs to actually see to know is a ring.
The two exchange a few short, earnest words too quiet for the equipment to catch, even with the crowd beginning to hush as attention starts to concentrate on them. A breathless grin breaks out across Mimura-senshu's face as he nods, and when he makes to drop to his knees with him, Takasugi-senshu surges to his feet to meet him halfway, catching him about the waist and pressing a short kiss to his lips before sliding the ring onto his finger. By this time, all cameras have been trained on them, so a few clips from other angles are floating around on the internet, though none have as many views or shares as the full-length one.
The teammates turned rivals turned lovers thread their fingers together and admire for a moment the plain silver band on Mimura-senshu's finger, just visible in the footage as a grayish sliver and later seen in a post nearly as viral as the video on the player's own twitter showing off his and his new fiancé's matching rings. They share another kiss, a longer one which soon devolves into being less than chaste, Mimura-senshu freeing his hands and bringing them up to frame Takasugi-senshu's face and then to slide into his hair, and they only break apart when Kinomoto-senshu, standing nearest to Mimura-senshu, nudges him good-naturedly in the side. Members of both teams crowd around them now, partially blocking the two from view from the cameras, both sides celebrating this exciting new milestone in their teammates' lives, their respective win or loss in the match that just concluded apparently forgotten.
The two players have not yet decided on a date, and have merely stated that they will marry after Mimura-senshu's retirement. The wedding will be a small affair comprising their closest friends and family.
