Setting: State Of Georgia

Location: Savannah

Over the previous 19 years life for famed monster hunter Calliope Burns-Fairmont and her wife and Legacy Vampire Juliette Fairmont-Burns had been a wild adventure filled with love, passion, family, and protecting the innocent when required. And as those years had passed their bonds of love and unyielding loyalty had continued to further deepen and intensify.

Following the emergence of their relationship when they were 16 they’d relished in the weeks of romantic bliss together. Steadfast in their refusal to allow anyone to separate them, including their respective parents who’d been mortal enemies as monster hunters and vampires. But afterwards they’d been forced to endure their then most emotional challenge. One which had threatened to tear them asunder.

For Juliette had found herself attempting to provide her girlfriend’s elder brother Theo with a peaceful demise so he wouldn’t suffer following a lethal wound accidentally inflicted upon him when he and Calliope’s brother Apollo had attacked Juliette’s elder sister Eleanor. Juliette in the aftermath trying to afford Theo the opportunity to die with dignity.

Yet it had instead resulted in the unintended consequence of him transitioning into a vampire.

Calliope had been devastated at what her brother had become. After which that grief had transitioned into rage towards her girlfriend for the latter’s role in Theo’s current predicament. Breaking up with her and threatening her and her species with death. Forcing a devastated Juliette to acquiesce to the dark skinned young woman’s wishes before driving off in tears. Yet very shortly afterwards and once she’d cooled down from her anger, Calliope knew in her heart that she could not stay away from Juliette. The 2 of them recognizing each other as soulmates who’d fallen so deeply and so utterly for one another.

They’d find themselves reconciling quickly afterwards. Reaffirming their love towards one another. Something which proved beneficial due to the Fairmonts and the Burns being forced to unite to defend their town against a storm of monsters who’d placed it under siege. Monsters gathered together by Juliette’s older brother Oliver and his witch girlfriend Carmen. The 2 of them having unleashed them upon the town.

It was also emotionally devastating for the Burns due to Theo wrecking havoc alongside Oliver’s monsters. The other man having manipulated him. Something which had resulted in no small amount of guilt within Talia Burns since she’d entrusted her stepson Theo to Oliver.

The monsters were eventually defeated and neutralized following a ferocious and grueling battle while Oliver and Carmen were secretly imprisoned by the Vampire Council. The Burns meanwhile managed to regain Theo and working together as a family they were able to reforge their shared bond with him and restore him to his original personality.

His now being a vampire was still a bitter pill for his and his siblings father Jack to swallow but he was slowly coming around to the belief that his son wasn’t actually gone from him. Only different now. A fact he’d have to learn to live with.

In light of those events, and due to having witnessed the Fairmonts and Burns operating shoulder to shoulder to shoulder and with such unity, and especially inspired by the powerful and inspiring love Calliope and Juliette had shared, the council had come together with the Guild and had forged an alliance with them. The two organizations agreeing to no longer remain enemies but to instead operate in concert and as one in maintaining the town’s safety and security.

Plus the Guild also agreed to only hunt down monsters who actually posed a genuine threat to humanity.

Many in the town strongly opposed this alliance due to their prejudice towards all monsters. Vampires especially. Not to mention the fallout from the Fairmonts true natures had been severe. But a significantly greater amount of its residents experienced a shift in their perspectives regarding otherworldly beings. That not all of them were villainous and that if the Fairmonts were willing to protect and fight for them and align themselves with humans sworn to destroy those like them then maybe humans and monsters could get along. Perhaps more than that.

Not to mention that Juliette’s and Calliope’s love was inspirational for a number of the townsfolk. The 2 of them even becoming both the ultimate model and representation for interpersonal and especially romantic relationships between those of different species which would begin to emerge over the next few years once humans and monsters grew increasingly comfortable with each other and eventually would go on to intermingle.

Plus and despite the vampiric nature of Sebastian Fairmont, Juliette and her siblings father, the majority of the town still viewed him as an effective D.A. and therefore its council, following some intense deliberation, permitted him to retain his position.

As for the aforementioned couple, they continued attending high school together and studying their academics hard before graduating shortly after turning 18. Attending the same college in town together afterwards over the next 4 years and both of them graduating valedictorian with all of their loved ones in attendance. Including Juliette’s siblings who were now reformed, or mostly in Eleanor’s case, and therefore released.

They were also able to balance their schedule between studying, both high school and college, and monster hunting.

Immediately following their college graduation ceremony and when they were then 22, Juliette had gotten down on one knee and had proposed to her girlfriend during their college graduation celebration in which their families and friends were in attendance. Having received Talia’s blessing beforehand plus the half hearted blessing of Jack. Calliope had of course said yes while their loved ones had cheered boisterously.

Two months later they’d gone through with the ceremony, not wanting to wait, and with everyone they cared for also in attendance. Afterwards they’d settled into their new lives together. Juliette founding her own law office to legally represent and be the voice of other innocent and law abiding monsters needing to be heard. Also ensuring their rights were maintained.

Calliope meanwhile had entered the town’s police force. Operating within their forensic department. A way for her to better ascertain which crimes had been conducted by humans and which ones by villainous monsters.

During the months following the ceremony, the couple had mutually decided they were ready for children. And therefore utilizing a newly invented and extremely advanced technology involving DNA, Juliette had given birth to their son Emani and then a year later Calliope had done the same and had delivered their daughter Catherine. Or Cathy for short. Both children a mixed resemblance of their parents.

For the following 12 years the family of 4 were blissfully happy together. Enjoying life to the fullest. Not to mention the mothers being extremely tight knit and close with their children and vice versa.

In addition but also, and due to the way their the mothers conducted their children’s upbringing and general education on life matters and responsibility and how to live it plus the way they interacted with them, they grew to be greatly matured for their ages and not your typical 12 and 11 year olds.

Calliope and Juliette, now 34, were also a highly passionate and physical couple. And while not 24/7 they were almost always all over each other. French kissing passionately and deeply making out whenever they were able to.

It was something their children were greatly used to witnessing and almost regularly seeing them in that fashion did not traumatize or gross them out. But instead receiving contentment from how strong their mothers relationship was. Not to mention they’d been reared in a liberal household which taught them passion and love and to appreciate others sexualities. Even teaching them the birds and bees when they were 6 so they wouldn’t be uninformed. Their version more or less resembling the comprehensive and extra thorough sex education taught in the Netherlands.

Though when in front of their children the wives kept their passion at PG-13 while keeping the R and especially X-Rated stuff for when the children weren’t present or behind closed doors.

They also trained their children in complicated martial arts and highly advanced combat. Preparing for them to become monster hunters and town protectors when they turned 16. Though only the son desired that path for himself. The daughter meanwhile desired to follow Juliette’s path as a lawyer and monster advocate.

But she was nonetheless trained anyway in order to defend herself should a situation arise requiring it.

But that was the dynamic of the Fairmont-Burns household. An unshakable, loving, passionate (for Juliette and Caliope), and mature household.

Unbeknownst to any of them but dark clouds were upon the horizon and a terrible storm would soon wreck havoc upon what they’d obtained. But this storm would not be wrought by any nefarious monster or supernatural entity. But it would ultimately emerge from their own household. Albeit having its starting point from the outside and rooted in an extremely selfish action born from envy towards the wives and personal desire towards one of them.

The resulting fallout from this action not only posing an existential threat against their union like nothing ever had but nearly shattering the bonds Caliope and Juliette had with their children.

Not all would be lost however. For hope would arise from a designated champion originating from another universe outside of their home universe. Reminding the women of how special their relationship was and the necessity of rediscovering their love for each other lest the family they’d constructed together be nothing but a memory.

Something which was of a greater urgency due to the role the couple were meant to play in the distant future. A future in which their love would be among the love of other various coupled required to be utilized when a coming darkness would manifest and unleash itself not only upon their world but also an infinite number of worlds.

Setting: Savanah Georgia

Location: The Fairmont-Burns Residence

“Hurry up you guys and get your breakfast or you’ll be late for school,” Calliope called out to her children while standing inside of the kitchen with Juliette. The former slicing up some apples, bananas, and berries and placing them onto 4 plates while the latter had scrambled some eggs and was currently scooping equal portions onto said plates.

They also had some decaf coffee brewing for themselves within their coffee maker nearby. And inside of the oven behind them were 4 bagels sliced into 8 pieces. Two pieces for everyone and being toasted.

“We’ll be down shortly,” and “Alright momma,” was respectively heard from Emani and Catherine, who they all referred to as Cathy, in response to their mother.

Juliette suddenly remembered the toast.

“Oh my goodness the toast!” she exclaimed. Eyes wide as she hurried to the oven and pulled its door downwards. Carefully removing the foil upon which the bagel slices were situated and transferring them to the family’s dining table.

Thankfully the toast wasn’t burned. Juliette having extracted them from the oven before that could transpire.

Calliope meanwhile carried 2 of their plates from their kitchen and positioned them upon their designated places on the table. Juliette also returned to the kitchen then re-emerged carrying the other 2 plates and doing the same as her partner.

“Thank goodness I didn’t burn the toast. That would’ve been so embarrassing,” Juliette stated then moaned as she rested her head in her hands.

“Don’t worry honey. What matters is that you didn’t. And even if you had, a little burnt toast would not decrease the love towards you that our children or myself possess,” Calliope softly reassured her while wrapping her arms around her partner from behind. Resting her own head against her shoulder.

Juliette tilted her head backwards and to the side. Smiling upwards.

“I know. But thanks for affirming that and I love you guys so much as well. More than anything,” she replied gratefully.

Calliope returned her smile. Afterwards she began planting gentle kisses along the side of Juliette’s neck. Causing her lovely vampire to emit combined moans of appreciation and desire. After which her desire won out and whirling around she slammed Calliope against the wall and pressed their bodies flush together. Instigating a vigorous makeout session with their open mouths pressed together in a seal and their tongues battling for dominance.

Bounding footsteps then emanated as their children hurried down the stair steps and headed towards the table. The moms hearing them arriving yet not bothering to cease their hot kiss.

“Get a room you guys,” Emani jokingly stated upon him and his sister witnessing their mothers impromptu make out session. Neither of them weirded out or uncomfortable by it since they were greatly used to their parents desire and passion. Sometime even awakening in the middle of the night to overhear them going at it like rabbits. Which transpired almost every evening. Neither of them phased though they sometimes needed to request that their moms keep the volume at a minimum since they needed their sleep.

Something which the couple did their best to practice and sometimes with success. Sometimes not.

The human/vampire couple kissed for a little bit longer before finally separating their lips with a wet smooch. Afterwards joining their children at the table followed by the 4 of them consuming their scrumptious breakfast. Hurriedly though since they were all cutting it close to being late for their days. They managed to complete their breakfast as quickly as they could before removing their dishes and then placing them within the kitchen sink.

“Do the 2 of you have everything you need?” Calliope questioned her children. Ensuring they had not forgotten anything.

In response they scanned themselves over before nodding briefly.

“Yep. We’ve got what we need,” Emani answered truthfully for them both since their backpacks and which contained all of their necessary supplies were currently attached to their backs.

Cathy quickly gasped.

“Oh gosh! My show and tell project!” she exclaimed. “I’m sorry momma but I need to get it,” she said then promptly turned away from them and bounded up the stairs. Upon arriving at the top she entered her and her brother’s bedroom and removed from her bed a clay sculpture of a bat. One which was very lifelike.

Afterwards she hurried downstairs while carefully grasping her art.

“I’m all set now,” she happily addressed her moms and brother who in response all smiled at her.

Juliette meanwhile handed Calliope two brown bags containing their children’s lunches. One bag containing an almond butter and banana sandwich for Emani. The other one containing a sandwich consisting of fried fish, melted Monterey Jack cheese, dark green leafy lettuce, and 2 tomato slices for Cathy. The fish originating from their dinner the previous evening.

“You guys have fun and be good alright?” the former addressed them followed by an expectant smile. Which was unnecessary since they were extremely well behaved inside and outside of class and in their daily lives. Though their moms felt it didn’t hurt to remind them.

“Yes mommy,” and “Of course,” were readily heard from their daughter and son respectively.

Their parents smiled at them. Pleased.

“Don’t forget the operation the council and the Guild tasked us to conduct tonight,” Juliette reminded her partner. The two organizations having designated them and their families to conduct a manhunt against a mysterious entity burglarizing a number of homes belonging to the town residents. Followed by most of the owners red meat products vanishing from their fridges.

“Of course not love. Just have everything ready,” Calliope affirmed with a nod. The 2 women then gave each other a deep yet quick kiss goodbye after which Juliette embraced their children goodbye. Giving her daughter a big kiss on her lips which the latter reciprocated followed by her and her son exchanging a brief peck on the lips.

The children then followed Calliope out the door after which she ushered them into her vehicle. It being her designated day to transport the children to school. Afterwards they managed to arrive in due time and she parked in front.

“Make certain you guys have everything and please don’t forget your show and tell project Cathy,” she reminded them.

“Got it,” Cathy confirmed. Afterwards the siblings took turns embracing their mother goodbye. Calliope pressing a big kiss to her son’s forehead and a warm kiss onto her daughter’s cheek.

The children then exited the vehicle and entered the school building while Calliope drove off to commence her shift for the day.

Location: A House Somewhere Within A Residential Neighborhood

Calliope was currently bent downwards and wearing green elastic gloves as she examined the scene of a crime. The pertaining scene located within the living room of the house she was currently inside of. And it was particularly gruesome in that it consisted of a half eaten dead body belonging to a red haired man in his mid 40s. His left arm, the left side of his upper torso, and a large chunk of his neck on its left ripped off and missing. The right side of his body being burned and charred almost beyond recognition.

There was also a pool of dried yet almost thick crimson blood surrounding his body.

She also noticed there were pronounced teeth marks along what remained of the victim’s neck. Making it clear to her that that the perpetrator was possibly a wild beast. Or worse, a monster and a particularly deadly one.

Mentally scrolling through the list of known monsters which had afflicted the town, Calliope repeatedly came up empty. Said marks not matching either the teeth sizes or designs she and Juliette had encountered and/or neutralized over the years. In fact but they did not match those of a werewolf.

She was suddenly pulled from her musings by one of the police detectives who was present on the cordoned off site. The aforementioned detective a Chinese American man named James Chan and who was dressed in navy blue pants and a dark blue jacket. Said jacket unbuttoned.

“Hey Burns? You might want to have a look at this,” he addressed her. Currently situated inside of the kitchen and holding a cup of coffee from the local coffee shop.

“I’m coming Chan,” Calliope returned. Scanning her eyes over the body once more before going to the kitchen where the detective was waiting.

“What is it?” she questioned him. Curious as to what she was being directed to.

In response he directed her attention to the fridge and peering inside she noticed with wide eyes that the majority of the red meat products had vanished. Though a few of them remained yet they were ripped to shreds.

At that moment she realized the perpetrator possessed the same M.O. as that of the creature responsible for the preceding burglaries throughout the town. Clearly displaying that it was the same creature and monster the Guild and the council were currently hunting.

“I see you’ve ascertained this is the same monster we’re all trying to locate and neutralize. Except this situation has escalated since it’s now resulted in a dead human body. Which means we need to ramp up our efforts before the body count increases beyond this one.”

“You’re absolutely correct,” Calliope agreed with her fellow detective. Her current expression grave. “I can assure you however that Juliette and myself along with our families are working hard to find and eliminate this monster. We will stop it no matter what.”

“I believe you. And especially since you’ve all repeatedly proven yourselves to be satisfactory protectors over the previous years,” James assured her with a satisfied tone then continued. “I’m just thankful we have at least one group of monsters who are on our side. A fact that should reinforce the philosophy that we should never judge a book by its cover. Nor allow hate and paranoia to consume us because someone’s different on the outside.

“Very true. And it was a lesson my family had to learn. And while that journey for them was difficult the fruit resulting from it was truly worth it,” she agreed then stated. Briefly recollecting how it had been difficult for an extremely prejudiced group of monster hunters like her family and with with personal vendettas to realize that vampires and other monsters were just as much people as humans. And that not all of them were a threat. Though they eventually and thankfully had gone on to see reason.”

James nodded.

“It certainly was. Especially since what emerged includes a robust alliance dedicated to maintaining our town’s security. Something which has proven to be highly beneficial for us,” he stated with a grateful expression and a warm smile directed towards Calliope. “My only request to the council and the Guild is to hurry and halt this creature’s rampage. No matter what you methods you guys have to exercise to accomplish that.”

“Of course. We’re doing everything we can to achieve that goal,” she affirmed then promised him.

The 2 of them then discussed the case a bit further before Calliope politely excused herself from their conversation in order to call her partner. Needing to update the other woman regarding the situation.

Positioning herself within another location of the house she was still inside of, Calliope extracted her cellphone from her pant pocket and dialed Juliette’s number. Her beloved vampire answering on the third ring.

“Hi honey what’s up?” she cheerfully greeted her. Always delighted to hear from the woman she loved though curious regarding the nature of the call.

“Hey sweetie. I’m calling to inform you that the situation with the monster we’re currently hunting has escalated. It seems its nocturnal activities have now left a dead human body in its aftermath,” Calliope returned her partner’s greeting then explained seriously. Causing Juliette to emit a stunned gasp on her end. Absorbing the gravity of said situation.

“If this creature is now targeting humans then it’s an even greater threat than what we’d originally assumed regarding it. We also need to inform the council and the Guild of this update,” she stated resolutely. Then suggested for their immediate steps preceding the upcoming mission tonight.

“Absolutely. Especially since we all need to be prepared for any scenario involving the monster when we commence our operation tonight,” Calliope fully concurred then pointed out.

The couple conversed a bit longer with them both agreeing that Juliette would be the one to pick up their children from school that afternoon. Followed by them exchanging heart felt I love yous before disconnecting their call.

Once she’d pocketed her cell once more, Caliope returned to the living room and observed as her forensics team collected all of the D.N.A. they required from the body. Anxious to bring this creature’s reign of terror to a conclusion tonight.

Following her calling and informing her family including her in laws about the info Calliope had provided for her, and as the couple had agreed upon regarding their children, Juliette had driven to the school once its session had concluded for the day. Emani and Cathy emerging from behind its doors shortly afterwards then promptly heading towards her vehicle and entering it. Emani seated upon the passenger seat and Cathy seated upon the back seat.

As they were being driven back to their home, Cathy eagerly shared with her mom about her show and tell project that day. Including how it had earned her an A score.

Juliette in response had happily congratulated her daughter. Beyond proud of her.

Once they’d returned and had entered her house, Juliette turned towards her children.

“You guys go and work on your homework if you have any alright? Then we can enjoy the remainder of the day until mine and your mother’s operation tonight,” she kindly instructed them.

“Alright mom,” Emani nodded along with his sister after which they both went upstairs to their respective rooms to do exactly that. Their parents having thoroughly educated and immersed them in the value of performing one’s responsibilities and obligations before leisure. In addition to teaching by example. Both in terms of balancing priorities correctly and also in terms of convenience.

Juliette meanwhile retired to her study and seated herself at her desk. She then extracted some legal documents from her desk drawer pertaining to the case she was currently working on. Sorting through them. This particular case pertaining to a situation in which a polyamorous trio consisting of a male human, a female werewolf, and a male cyclops were seeking to adopt a female human child.

The female was the shared lover of the 2 males though they themselves were not lovers or romantic partners but rather close friends. But their friendship was intimate enough that it could be considered a romantic friendship.

The adoption agency was denying them the right to adopt this child because certain members in charge of said agency strongly protested that a human child being reared within an environment of monsters could prove detrimental towards their well being for some reason.

That while they had no objections or personal issues with adoptions from different couplings including interracial, LGBT, polyamorous, or even various monster couples within the monster umbrella, they still maintained that any adoptees should always match the species of their parents.

The throuple would not acquiesce to the agency’s refusal, especially since the child’s desire to join their family was as strong as their desire to adopt her. Therefore they’d requested that Juliette represent them to which she’d readily and happily agreed.

The case had also generated major headlines in the local news and in response the majority of the townsfolk had spoken in the throuple’s favor and against the agency. Finding it to be yet another occurrence of sheer prejudice.

The case would be heard in court at the end of the current week during which Juliette would present a rigorous and passionate defense for her clients. Doing her utmost to ensure their rights.

An hour and 15 minutes later she’d completed her aforementioned work and repositioned the documents within her desk drawer. Satisfied everything pertaining to them was in order. She then exited her study after which she heard Cathy and Emani bounding down the stairs.

“We’re finished mommy,” her daughter cheerfully and truthfully informed her mother in regards to their homework.

“Glad to hear it sweetie. How about I prepare us a snack for us to consume?” she acknowledged with satisfaction then suggested.

Receiving eager nods from her children she went into the kitchen while they followed behind her. And together they prepared some orange slices, apple slices, blueberries, celery and carrot slices, pieces of dark green and washed lettuce, a tablespoon of peanut butter for the 3 of them, and coupled it all up with a platter of nachos served on a dinner sized plate. The nachos consisting of Monterey Jack cheese melted on large tortilla chips. Plus with three small bowls containing salsa, guacamole, and black bean dip.

Once the food was ready they’d carried it to the living room and sitting on the carpet below they consumed everything. Enjoying their snacks while engaging in idle conversation. Juliette and her children taking pleasure in the familial fellowship and intimacy they were currently sharing together.

After they’d finished their snacks and together had washed, dried, then repositioned the dishes they’d just utilized within their pertaining cabinets, they played their own particular version of hide and seek. A game which involved Cathy pretending to be a monster while Emani and their mother playing the role of monster hunters. The young girl having to evade them while they attempted to capture her.

Calliope would also join her family in that game whenever she was present with them.

Cathy for the majority of the time was able to conceal herself. Her policy being to never utilize the same hiding spots more than once. Which always made it difficult for her family to ascertain her whereabouts during the pertaining game.

Juliette and Emani however had come up with a clever way to draw her out. Practicing it multiple times. And it was to pretend to retreat then move into another hidden location and patiently wait until she emerged from her hiding spot. It also serving as a positive and necessary lesson for Emani. Not only regarding one of most fundamental aspects of monster hunting when the target was hidden but also for everyday life in terms of patience. No matter how difficult it might be to exercise at times.

As expected, Cathy would emerge from where she’d been concealed. Having waited for 15 minutes beforehand. Then carefully and quietly traversed around their house in an attempt to not alert her beloved mom and big brother.

Eventually and unknown to her but she ended up moving herself closer and closer towards their location and when she was close enough they leapt from their hiding spot and tackled her to the floor. Refusing to release her.

“Come on guys let me go. Please let me go,” she implored them with giggles while they all laughed together.

After a bit Juliette and Emani decided to exercise mercy and permitted Cathy to untangle herself from their arms.

Once their shared laughs had subsided, they decided to spend time together in the round hot tub outside. Said tub situated behind their house. It being surrounded by gorgeous and thick green plants for privacy’s sake and further obscured by a tall fence crafted from burgundy colored mahogany wood.

Its size also provided enough room for 4 individuals. Tops.

They each went to their respective rooms and Juliette changed into a burgundy two piece swimsuit which included a thin bra that displayed the upper portion of her cleavage.

Emani meanwhile removed his clothes and dressed himself in his swim trunks while his sister dressed herself in a green one piece swimsuit which covered her entire body while leaving her arms and legs bare.

Once they were all dressed in their swimwear, they made their way to the hot tub and carefully submerged themselves within it. After which they began frolicking around together. Splashing each other, chasing each other around, playing tag, and just entertaining themselves and each other.

That would be how Calliope would find them when she’d finally returned home that afternoon. Having searched for them until she heard their boisterous laughs from behind their house. Following the noise until she’d located them inside of the hot tub. For a while she stood nearby and observed her family with a fond smile. Pretty soon however they’d sensed her presence and turned their heads towards her.

“Mommy!” Cathy exclaimed in a surprised yet delighted tone while Emani smiled widely. Juliette meanwhile graced her with a loving and flirtatious smile.

“Having fun without me?” Calliope teased them with raised eyebrows.

“Of course not my love. We would never,” Juliette replied with a faux expression of innocence while resting her hand upon her heart. Pretending to be scandalized.

“Yeah mom. In fact but it’s be awesome if you joined us,” Emani invited her with Cathy nodding eagerly.

Calliope pretended to contemplate on the offer before finally voicing her decision.

“Sure why not,” she accepted with a smile. Then turned and reentered their house and into hers and Juliette’s bedroom. After which she changed into a black two piece swimsuit with a bra that was slightly larger than the one her partner was currently wearing.

Once done she returned to where her family was and stepped into the hot tub. Joining them. For a few moments she sat with them in silence until all of a sudden she felt water being splashed onto her. Causing her to sputter from the impact and almost immediately she zeroed in on the culprit.

Calliope managed to catch up with her son pretty quickly and dunked him underwater. He re-emerged seconds later, him now being the one to sputter from the dive.

“Ah come on mom,” he complained while wiping his face and eyes of the water.

She shrugged.

“Fair is fair,” she playfully countered and grinned to which he pouted but finally smiled and conceded her point.

The 4 of them then relaxed and soaked in the hot tub together. Relishing in its bubbling warmth and enjoying each other’s presence. After a while, Calliope ended up gravitating closer to her partner.

“I love you so much Jules. And our family as well. Moments such as this reminding me of how much I have to be grateful for and I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” she softly said to Juliette. Stroking the latter’s cheek.

“I love you to and just as deeply. And neither would I,” the vampire gently returned as they stared deeply into each other’s eyes. The air around them becoming charged as they ended up lost within their own world. Gliding closer and closer to each other until their lips met in a gentle kiss which escalated in passion and intensified. Their lips opening and their tongues sliding inside of the other’s mouths. Before they knew it Juliette had spun her partner around and had pinned her against the side of the tub. Both entirely agreeing with their children’s words and that their moment had almost admittedly gone into a direction they would rather avoid. And not just in their children’s presence but anywhere else that wasn’t a private location.

“We’re so sorry about that. I don’t know what to say except that we weren’t thinking and should’ve been more careful. But I can assure you both that we’ll work to exercise greater self control over ourselves so we won’t experience a repeat. And you’re absolutely correct in regards to your final sentence,” Calliope apologized then promised while Juliette nodded in agreement.

“It’s alright mommy. These things happen,” Cathy assured them. Causing them both to feel relieved.

The mothers then reached their arms forward and beckoned towards their children. Who in turn swam towards them and allowed themselves to be enveloped into their mothers arms. Cathy in Calliope’s arms facing her and Emani in Juliette’s arms with his back to her.

“We want to you both to always remember that you are our greatest treasures. Now and forever. Never forget that,” Juliette earnestly addressed them both. Pouring out all of the love she could muster into her words.

“We love you guys as well mom. Forever and always,” Emani returned with a smile while Cathy energetically nodded her head. The former still in Juliette’s arms but addressing both of their mothers.

Cathy burrowed herself deeper into Calliope’s arms, content in her mom’s embrace. Then separated from her slightly so that there was some space between their bodies while her arms hung loosely around her mom’s neck. She then leaned forwards and planted her lips against Calliope’s. Sealing their closed lips together as she gave her a sweet kiss which Calliope reciprocated while holding her daughter.

The 2 of them allowed their kiss to extend and linger. Not moving or sliding their lips but just holding them together. Juliette and Emani watched them with fond smiles. Also turning their heads towards each other and exchanging their own big though brief lip kiss. After which their faces morphed into mischievous expressions and after conversing silently they quietly swam towards their respective partner and sibling. Then with a nod from Juliette, she and her son splashed a wave of water against them. Startling them and resulting in them breaking their kiss and wiping the water from their faces.

“Guys,” Cathy complained while wiping her eyes though she couldn’t stop laughing.

Calliope meanwhile presented her partner and son with a “really” expression while they returned it with innocent looks upon their faces.

The 4 family members then frolicked together in the hot tub a little while longer before deciding to call it a day. Removing themselves from the water and using their towels nearby to dry themselves off before reentering their home.

After they redressed themselves they sat on the sofa in their living room and watched some tv together until the afternoon transitioned to evening and it was time for dinner.

Going into the kitchen, they all worked together to prepare fettuccine and meat sauce with zucchini, squash, eggplant, kale, and garlic bread. Calliope and Emani chopping up then seasoning the vegetables together while Juliette prepared the meat sauce and Cathy poured the appropriate amount of oil onto their Italian bread slices. Followed by rubbing a clove of garlic onto each slice.

Afterwards and once the meat sauce and vegetables were cooking and were almost ready, Cathy incorporated their fettuccine into the large silver pot of boiling water Calliope had going. Then she placed the garlic bread into the oven then closed the door. Her brother next setting their oven dial onto the appropriate temperature for the bread.

Once the food was ready, they served their plates and brought them to the dining room table. After which Juliette and Calliope poured themselves a small amount of white wine in a glass each. Along with some sparking and fizzy black grape juice in glasses for Emani and Cathy.

Sitting at the table afterwards they began to consume their food and drinks. Enjoying their dinner while conversing a bit. Then once they’d concluded their meal and together had washed, dried, then repositioned their dishes within the appropriate cabinets within their kitchen, they’d gone into their living room and sat upon its sofa. Watching some television together until it was time for the mothers to leave and join their extended family for tonight’s operation against the aforementioned monster threat.

They then went into their master bedroom to change their clothes while their children meanwhile prepared themselves for bed. The siblings brushing their teeth while using their toothbrushes to clean each tooth with seven circular motions. Just like Calliope and Juliette had instructed them.

After which they retired to their own bedroom and their mothers went inside to bid them good night.

“I can’t wait until 4 years before I can finally join you guys on monster hunting,” Emani wistfully stated as the women tucked him in. Wishing he were accompanying them tonight.

“I know honey. And don’t you worry for your time will come eventually,” Calliope assured him. “For now just keep up with your training and putting in the effort and by the time you’re 16 you’ll receive your opportunity to prove yourself as a bona fide hunter. Hopefully even exceeding myself in skill.”

Their son accepted his mother’s words and then they each took turns embracing him. Juliette kissing his cheek and Calliope kissing the side of his forehead.

They then moved to their daughter’s bed and also assisted her in getting herself tucked underneath her own covers. After which they embraced her with Calliope planting a kiss onto her jaw and Juliette kissing her nose.

Then then exited their children’s bedroom and Calliope gathered whatever weapons she might require as they prepared to leave their home. Oliver and Carmen also arriving around that time and after their niece and nephew had been put to bed. Juliette having phoned her brother and sister in law to stay at her home to ensure her children’s well-being as they slept until she and Calliope returned. The other couple being more than happy to do so.

With all of that settled, she and Calliope exited their home then entered their vehicle. Driving to the Burns house where they’d meet up with the rest of their family for tonight’s operation.

Location: Burns Residence

Almost everyone within the blended Fairmont-Burns family were currently in attendance. Consisting of Juliette, Calliope, her elder brothers Apollo and Theo, Juliette’s elder sister Elinor, Calliope’s parents Jack and Talia, and Juliette’s parents Sebastian and Margot.

In addition there was present a few other members of both the vampire community and the Guild. The latter including the now 34 year old Tess Franklin and her parents. And she was currently sharing what she’d managed to unravel pertaining to the identity of the monster they were all searching for.

“I searched through multiple books about the monsters within mythology and legend and researched online. Cross referencing as well. And I’ve managed to ascertain the type of monster we’re up against,” she explained to her family and friends then followed it up by presenting an image of what she believed the creature to be. The image being that of a lion like creature but with the sprouted head of a fire breathing goat positioned behind its head and a tail upon which was positioned the head of a serpent.

She then laid it onto the living room table they were gathered around.

Staring at the image, their eyes widened in recognition.

“My gosh,” Jack stated. His lips parted as he continued staring.

“It’s a Chimera. One of the deadliest monsters to exist,” Elinor confirmed then added seriously.

“And now one of them is running lose around our town,” Apollo said with a grim expression.

“Not for long,” Margot firmly declared. “For tonight it has drawn its last breath!”

The others nodded in agreement.

“According to Greek Mythology, the Chimera was slain by a legendary hero named Bellerophon. The guy situating some lead onto the tip of his spear then driving it into that creature’s throat. Suffocating it to death due to the lead melting from the fiery heat generating within its throat,” Theo shared.

“Which means if we utilize the same method we’ll probably achieve the same result,” Elinor continued from where Theo had left off.

“In that case we all know what to do. And we don’t have any time to waist. Now let’s go catch ourselves a Chimera,” Sebastian spoke up next and directed everyone.

In response the Guild members gathered their spears and headed into another location where small chunks of lead were stored. After which each individual attached a chunk to their pertaining spears.

As they were heading out the door, Tess positioned herself closer to Calliope.

“So yet another night monster hunting for us just like we always do huh?” she addressed her with excitement while sporting a warm and somewhat flirtatious smile.

“Yep. Just like always and it’s always most enjoyable when I have both my lovely wife and my wonderful bff present with me,” Calliope agreed then stated with contentment. Not noticing the attempt at flirtation.

“Of course,” Tess responded. A fake smile plastered upon her face upon her friend mentioning Juliette. At that moment a brief surge of jealousy coursed through her though she quickly squashed it. “And always know that no matter what I’ll always have your back,” she then softly assured her while gently resting her hand upon Calliope’s arm. Stroking it a bit before removing her hand and joining the other hunters.

The interaction between the 2 aforementioned women had not gone unnoticed by Juliette however. An annoyed expression on her face while having observed Tess’s behavior and seeing clearly that Tess was being more than just friendly with Calliope. Something she absolutely did not appreciate and especially since this wasn’t the first time Tess had behaved in that manner. And nor had she missed the occasionally jealous expressions Tess had displayed towards the couple when she thought no one was watching her.

Juliette knew that she’d need to address the matter with Tess if the latter’s behavior towards her partner continued. And if necessary reinforce which one of them Calliope belonged to.

Now was not the time to be entertaining such thoughts however and pushing them aside she headed out with her family and their allies to face the Chimera.

Location: Residential Areas

The monster hunters and their vampire allies were currently patrolling the residential neighborhood in pairs. Juliette paired with Calliope, Apollo paired with Elinor, Theo paired with Tess, Margot paired with Talia, and Jack paired with Sebastian. Along with other human and vampire pairings whose purpose was to serve as backup.

For some time none of them witnessed anything unusual though they continued to keep their eyes and ears pealed.

Suddenly there was a commotion.

“Ya’ll heard that?” Theo questioned through their shared coms. Responding to the noise.

“Yep. Sure did,” Tess responded while the others all answered in the affirmative.

A few moments later, an obscure figure slowly emerged from the shadows. Emanating crunching noises with each of its steps and rumbling growls from its throat.

The vampires and hunters waited with baited breaths as the creature’s pertaining features became increasingly pronounced the further it manifested itself.

Eventually it fully came into view completely and was exactly what they’d ascertained it to be.

“Alright everyone let’s go. Move, move, move!” a determined Elinor strongly called out followed by them all racing towards the Chimera. Her, her sister, her parents, and Theo positioned in front while Apollo, his parents, Calliope, and Tess came from their rear.

Theo was the first one to reach the beast and launching himself upwards landed onto its back and sunk his fangs into its neck. Drawing blood.

He also wrapped his hands around the neck of its goat head in a chokehold and squeezed.

The Chimera in response violently thrashed around while releasing a series of furious growls. Attempting to relinquish the vampire’s hold upon him. He eventually managed to succeed and sent Theo slipping off of his back and crashing onto the ground.

Afterwards the monster opened his jaws and released a bellowing ROOOOOOOOOOAR. Displaying his fearsome canines. Those being the four pronounced and pointed teeth situated at the front of his mouth.

His goat head then opened its own mouth and from it was unleashed a powerful and bright wave of fire. Resulting in the ground before it being engulfed in orange flames which skyrocketed upwards and swooshed around. Creating a fiery wall between himself and his pursuers.

They refused to be deterred however. Instead all of the vampires present joined Theo in using their legs to propel themselves upwards. Soaring over the flames of fire and landing onto the ground in a crouch and right in front of the lion like beast. After which they used their super speed to charge him and grabbing ahold of him sunk their fangs deep into his neck, back, sides, and his other neck upon which his goat head was attached to.

The Chimera aggressively thrashed around once more. Once more attempting to liberate himself from his attackers.

The vampires held fast however and sunk their respective fangs into his skin even deeper. In addition to utilizing their combined strength to overpower him. Slowly pushing him downwards and towards the ground.

Eventually his struggles began to subside once they managed to wrestle him to the ground then rolled him onto his left side. Followed by them pulling his lion head backwards and in turn exposing his neck.

“Now!!” Sebastian called out to the Guild hunters who then ran over and plunged their respective lead covered spears into the Chimera’s throat. After which they retreated a little further away and allowed the lead to do its work on the beast. Resulting in him suffocating and then before long his head lulled to the side while the life drained from his eyes. The monster finally vanquished.

The vampires then released their hold upon the now deceased Chimera followed by them and the hunters cheering and embracing amongst themselves over their victory. Relieved to have finally eliminated the latest monster threat to plague their town.

Tess also shared a warm embrace with Calliope. Though it was extended a bit too long on the former’s end and especially for Juliette’s liking. After which she pulled herself back yet maintained her hold upon Calliope’s arms.

“We absolutely did it. We slew the monster like always. You and I truly make a good team don’t we?” Tess stated while gazing adoringly into the other woman’s eyes.

“We certainly did. Though let’s remember that it was ultimately a group effort,” Calliope agreed with a chuckle then reminded her. Her eyes then glancing towards the side as she used them to search for her partner. Finding her just as Juliette was approaching them.

“As my gorgeous wife just said, it was absolutely a team effort,” Juliette affirmed the moment she reached them. Beaming towards her partner while putting a slight emphasis on ‘wife’ for Tess’s benefit.

Everyone then exchanged farewells and headed home. Though Calliope and Juliette decided to take a detour through the trees.

Tess meanwhile stared after them as they departed. An expression of longing written on her face as she observed Calliope depart.
