Chapter 1: Kara and Izuku Midoriya Origins
Chapter Text
Oy, Deku! Don't think we're done here!"
Izuku sighed. He was hoping that Bakugou would leave him alone today but he kinda knew it was wishful thinking after Arrataki Sensei told the class that Izuku would try for Yuuei High. Now he cornered Izuku with his two friends at the end of class, Arrataki Sensei clearly unbothered by what was happening in front of him.
"I can't believe you still waste time with these!" Bakugou sneered and snatched Izuku's notebook from his hands before he could put it away.
"Kacchan, give it back!"
"Shut up Deku! Hero analysis for the Future Nr. 13? And what is with all these weird symbols?"
"Please give it back!" Izuku pleaded and tried to reach for the notebook only to be shoved to the wall.
"There is even stuff about your sister in it," Bakugou scoffed.
"You really think she won't be creeped out when you write your stalker notes in code?"
"Wow, really? How pathetic can you be?" one of Bakugou's friends laughed.
"I mean she's hot and has a cool quirk but your own sister?"
"Yeah, probably because she is the only one who actually hangs out with him," the other chimed in.
"Bet it's only because she needs too, since he's her brother."
Izuku looked down, hands shaking, trying to come up with a remark.
"It really pisses me off!" Bakugou barked and the sound of a small explosion filled the room.
Shocked Izuku looked up just in time to see his burned notebook fly out of the window and than he felt Kacchan's hand on his shoulder, the smell of nitroglycerin and smoke invading his nostrils.
"Get it through your thick skull, Deku. Unlike you, your sister is the only one besides me on this crap school to get into U.A.. Hell, she might even become the Nr. 2 Hero if she's smart and sticks with me."
Bakugou grinned, the red eyes of the ashen blond boy getting a sadistic glint.
"All great heroes have shown greatness early on and we don't need your quirkless ass dragging us both down. So don't try to apply to U.A. or I'll make sure Supergirl won't have to deal with you anymore. Got it?"
He grinned wickedly while whispers of smoke rose from his hand on Izuku's shoulder, slightly singing his uniform while both of Bakugou's friends giggled.
"Seriously though," the boy with a long face said.
"How comes that someone with such a strong quirk is related to Deku of all people?"
"That's the thing!" Bakugou laughed.
"They aren't! She was adopted shortly after Deku was born. Guess his old folks realized right away that he was useless and decided they want a real child!"
"Or maybe they found me in a basket floating in a river," a female voice chimed in, causing all four boys to turn towards the door where a girl with wavy honey blonde hair tied to a ponytail and ocean blue eyes behind a pair of glasses glared at the them, the arms crossed under her chest with Izuku's charred and wet notebook in her hand. Most notably she was floating a few centimeter above the floor.
"What's going on here?"
Izuku noticed how Bakugou's grip loosened though his hand remained on Izuku's shoulder.
"Deku and I just have a little argument. No need to get your panties in a twist, Supergirl."
"Don't call me that!" the girl replied while floating towards the group.
"K... Kara, it's fine!" Izuku tried to calm his sister down which earned him a soft and fond look before her eyes hardened again when she focused back on Bakugou.
"And this "argument" somehow ended with Izuku's notebook burned in the Koi pond outside?"
"Yeah!" Bakugou shot back, clearly tensing up.
"Not my fault Deku can't take care of his stuff."
Kara uncrossed her arms and started to float a bit higher so she was a head and a half over Bakugou, looking down on him, who let go of Izuku's shoulder and flexed his hands, small sparks popping from the palms.
"Now, now, no need to fight," Arrataki Sensei finally interfered.
"It was a simple accident. I am sure Bakugou didn't mean to do it, right?"
Both Kara and Bakugou looked at Arrataki Sensei, who looked pleading at Bakugou until the ash blonde backed down and shoved his way past Kara and made his way towards the door, his two friends following.
"This isn't over, Deku! Don't think you can hide behind Supergirl forever!" he barked back as he left.
Kara waited a moment and then landed with a heavy sigh.
"I really don't like it when HE calls me that... You okay, Zuzu?"
"Yeah... thanks Kara." Izuku replied with a weak smile.
Kara nodded and gave Arrataki Sensei a pointed look, who at least had the decency to look somewhat ashamed
"Good. Let's get out of here!"
Walking side by side the two left silently, Izuku looking through his notebook, taking note of the damages from Bakugou's explosion and the water, Kara seemingly lost in her thoughts until they passed the gate when she spoke up.
"Sorry i took so long. My teacher held me back, told me i should be more focusing on my future instead off looking after other people..."
"Hmhm..." Izuku nodded, both fully aware who was meant.
"Ha! Jokes on her! Without you i wouldn't even do half as good in school. Besides, looking after other people is what we are supposed to do anyways when we become Heroes, right Zuzu?"
"Yeah..."
Kara stepped in front of Izuku with a frown.
"Okay, stop mopping about what Bakugou says! That jerk wouldn't know what a Hero is if All Might himself would explain it to him."
"It's not him... Not entirely..." Izuku replied.
"Lately Arrataki Sensei kept telling me i should try to be more realistic..."
"What? Don't tell me he chased Bakugou after you!"
Izuku shook his head.
"No... he just mentioned to the class i want to go to Yuuei..."
Kara groaned and Izuku continued:
"A...and even if i don't like it, he might have a point. Yuuei is the only Hero school that allows someone without a Quirk to even apply for the Hero Course. And only one in 300 are even accepted each year. How am i supposed to compete?"
"Zuzu..." Kara tried to reply softly.
"You know a quirk doesn't make someone a Hero and...."
"Easy for you to say!" Izuku snapped back, startling Kara.
"Sorry, didn't mean to..."
Kara laid her hand gently on Izuku's shoulder to stop his incoming rambling.
"Zuzu... it's okay. Look what i try to say is, maybe you can't fly..."
"Or run at super speed... or lift a car with ease, run a marathon without getting tired, be almost invulnerable, have super hearing or heat vision... or be allowed to participating in sports because i am "to fragile"..." Izuku started to list off, causing Kara to roll her eyes in frustration.
"For the love off..."
Checking their surroundings Kara snatched Izuku's notebook from his hand and flipped open the page with Izuku's notes on herself, accompanied by a sketch of her.
"See this? This is written in Kryptonian. You wrote this. This is supposed to be my native language and i still need your or Jor's help while you are fluid in it. You are a freaking genius. Every time one of my powers came in it was you who found a way for me to get a handle on them. Not even Dr. Kamisato can say that. And you are one of the nicest and most helpful people i know. If there is one person who should be a Hero, it's you!"
Embarrassed by the praise from his sister Izuku tried to buried his face between his arms.
"That's... it's not that impressive... You would get the hang on your powers sooner or later anyways... and Kryptonian is not that complicated..."
Kara started to float with a amused huff, hanging in the air just high enough to look down on him, hands on her hips a challenging smirk on her lips.
"As i see it you are either a genius or I'm stupid. Are you calling your sister stupid, Zuzu?"
"Wha...!? No! I would never..." Izuku started to frantically wave his hands only to stop when his sister tapped his forehead lightly with her finger.
"Genius it is then, huh?" she said with a wide grin and handed him back his notebook earning her a smile from her green haired brother.
"Look, maybe you don't have a Quirk. But that means only you're going to help people in your own way. And i will support my genius dorky little brother all the way."
"Your birthday is two months after mine though," Izuku replied causing Kara to grin.
"True. But according to Jor, i was in suspended animation for a unknown amount of time before i crashed on earth. So i am technically older."
Both teens started to giggle and Kara took note of Izuku's clearly improved mood.
"So want a lift home? I need to get out off this uniform."
Izuku shook his head.
"Go ahead. I'll need to get a new notebook so i can try to restore some of the entries here."
He held said notebook up, the half of a charred page falling out it wanted to enforce his statement.
"Fine," Kara huffed in playful annoyance.
"Just don't forget the time watching any hero fights. I'll need help with my English homework."
Waving she took of, flying past a tree at the corner at the street only to fly back and pick a a cat from the tree and set her on the ground before flying around the corner again, leaving Izuku with a fond smile.
One would think being able to fly would allow Kara to get home a lot faster. And one would be right.
If one would not account for the possibility that Kara would stop several time to help someone over the street or carry someones grocery bags to from a car to the door.
And when she was finished she was stopped by a police officer, reminding her that quirk usage without a license was forbidden and she could hurt someone by flying reckless. She didn't get a fine but was told to just walk like a normal person.
All in all, Kara arrived not much earlier at home as when she would have walked in the first place.
So after taking a shower and changing into a blue tank top and sweat pants, keeping her hair loose to dry and her glasses in her room, she quickly prepared dinner and started on her homework in the living room, pointedly putting the assignments for English and math aside for later.
What's the point of having a smart nerdy brother if she wouldn't exploit his big head now and then, right?
After a while she heard the door to the apartment open.
"Zuzu? Is that you?"
"No, it's me Kara," Inko replied.
"Could you help me with this?"
In an instant, Kara moved over to her mother and took the groceries from her and with the same speed went to the kitchen and put everything away even and stood back in the hallway even before Inko could put on her house shoes.
"I would have been enough if you had just carried them into kitchen. I could have put everything away myself." Inko chided jokingly, causing Kara to grin sheepishly at her mother.
"Izuku didn't come home with you?"
"Nope. Wanted to get a new notebook," Kara replied.
"Though he should be back by now unless... Hey, Jor?"
A small silver oval shape object came flying from Kara's room and hovered in front of her and her mother. A blue light started to shine from the tip as it projected the hologram of a middle aged man with a well trimmed beard and kind blue eyes, not unlike Kara's own. Most notably he wore a black and blue robe with large diamond shaped emblem with a symbol that looked suspiciously like an S embedded in it The outlines of the emblem and the symbol itself were colored red while the space between was colored in a bright yellow.
The sigil of House El...
The sigil of Kara's birth family long gone...
"How can i be of assistance, Kara Jor-El?" the hologram asked and Kara shook off the longing feeling she had.
She had long accepted that Jor was only programmed to appear in the image of her birth father but apparently there wasn't enough time to actually program him with his personality before they had to send her away.
It didn't change the fact that she still wanted to know more about him though...
"Are there any villain fights nearby!"
"There is a report about one happening right now, " Jor answered after a second or two.
"Do you wish to see the report?"
"Yes. Let's see what spectacle is distracting Zuzu this time."
With a nod the hologram vanished and Jor flew into the living room, followed by Kara and Inko.
Another light blinking on the drone and the T.V. sprang to life, displaying said fight.
"We're reporting life from the ongoing villain attack here in Musutafu!" the reporter said.
"Earlier the this day this villain with, what appears to be a sludgelike mutation quirk, was stopped during a robbery by All Might himself, who chased after this villain. However it seems the villain managed to evade the Nr One Hero and is now taking a hostage for his escape. The local Heroes so far were not able to find a way to apprehend the villain without risking the hostage. To complicated matter, the victim seems to have lost control of his quirk in the struggle, keeping Heroes even further from deescalating the situation."
An explosion erupted from behind the reporter, scattering the crowd on onlookers and Kara got to see the villain.
Like the reporter said, the villain appeared to be made of mud, his slimy body covering most of his victim, with bulging eyes and a far to wide sadistic grin.
It was clear that his victim was fighting back and loosing if not something would be done soon as only the top of the ashen blond head and a hand were to be seen, another explosion erupting from said hand.
"Wait! Is that..." Kara started and interrupted herself as she saw the unmistakable messy green hair of a boy in Aldera Uniform, running past the Heroes and throwing his backpack at the villain, the content spilling out midair.
"Izuku!" Inko yelled and in a gust of wind, Kara was gone through an open window even before the backpack and books hit the eye of the villain.
The moment the Sludge Villain reared back from the thrown backpack, Izuku closed the remaining distance in a mad dash and started to claw at the slime covering Backugou, managing to at least free the face so he could breath but try as might, Izuku just couldn't get the other boy free.
"D...Deku? Why you?!" Bakugou barked. (it wasn't panic! Kacchan never panics!)
"I... don't know... You needed help and... i just moved..." Izuku replied with tears in his eyes, still clawing uselessly at the sludge as the villain started to recover.
"You again?" the sludge rumbled.
"You' are dead!"
The sludge started to cover Bakugou's face again while Izuku desperately pulled at the other boy's hand.
"I' am really pathetic, am i?" a familiar voice spoke, the shadow of a large man falling on the villain.
"I should practice what i preach..." All Might grumbled and reached with his large hand for Izuku.
"A Hero..."
Izuku got never to hear the rest because before All Might could take Izuku's arm he was yanked away from the villain and landed a few meter away, Bakugou falling to the ground beside him, the blue eyes of his sister looking at him worried.
In the same time was confused for a split second as he grabbed nothing but air and windows started to rattle before he spotted the two boys and the girl and released the prepared punch against the villain, the shock wave from the punch alone creating a gust of wind that scattered the sludge of the villain over the street and changed the weather.
Arm smoking in the falling rain, All Might looked silently at Izuku and Kara who gripped the shoulders of her brother as if she was afraid to let him go.
"OhmygodZuzuareyouokaywhatwereyouthinkingyouweresocoolbutyouscaredmeandmomandyoursuchanidiotbuti'msoproudofyobutpleaseneverdosomethinglikethisagainand..."
For a moment all Izuku could see was the face of his sister, filled with a mixture of fear and relief before Heroes and EMT s were upon them to check on him and Bakugou.
While some heroes were gathering the pieces of the villain, some were taking the time to praise Bakugou for his bravery and his strong Quirk, who was in turn starring at Kara, who herself watched with growing annoyance as the Hero Death Arms was lecturing Izuku.
"What were you thinking?" the muscular man shouted.
"You needlessly risk your life! If All Might hadn't shown up..."
"Yeah, what if All Might hadn't shown up?" Kara interrupted the Hero.
"Would you kept standing around and let my brother do your job for you?"
Death Arms was clearly taken back by the accusation and held his arms up defensively.
"L... look Miss, i get that we didn't put forth our best foot and that your brother only wanted to help but we nearly had to deal with two hostages instead of one. We have rules for this exact reasons"
Kara wanted to retort as Izuku stood up, looking down and slowly walking past her.
"It's okay Kara... He's right. I was stupid..."
Kara turned to follow Izuku, trying to comfort him while Death Arms looking at them somewhat guilty.
"Hey Kid!"
Izuku and Kara turned back around towards the Hero who was scratching his head.
"Look... I stand by what i said. What you did was reckless but... You had a good idea there. I couldn't get closer and if i head thought about having something to throw with me i might not have been sidelined..."
Izuku looked at the Hero who sheepishly tried to avoid eye contact.
"Something that fit's easily in your hand..." Izuku started
"Round smooth surface, to reduce air resistance and that works best with your Quirk... not balls, those are to hard to secure in a way you could use them easily... maybe oval or egg shaped. You could carry several with a belt at your waist. Rubber would most likely the best material but you could also ask for flash bangs..."
Death Arms looked at Izuku surprised.
"Huh... That's... that's a good tip. I'll keep that in mind. Just be more careful in the future, okay?"
Izuku nodded and turned around to walk home, followed by Kara, slowly walking down the streets as the sun started to set.
"Hey Zuzu?" Kara started and stopped to listen to something in the distance.
"Urgh... not him right now..." she muttered and before Izuku could ask what she meant she was carrying him on her her back and flying through the air, leaving the streets under them.behind.
"K...Kara! You're not supposed to..."
"Zuzu." Kara interupted him with a smirk.
"Screw the rules, i can fly. Also when i want to give my stupid brave Hero of a brother a lift home, I'm going to do just that."
"Wasn't a Hero though..." Izuku mumbled.
"Couldn't do anything..."
"Izuku..." Kara sighed.
"You scared the hell out of me when i saw you charge that villain on T.V.... but you did more then any Hero back there. And who knows where All Might was hiding the entire time."
She felt Izuku's hand stiffen holding on her shoulders but decided not to comment on it for now.
"You were the only one to do something because no one else did. No matter what everyone els says, you are a hero in my eyes."
They took one last look at the setting sun at the horizon and turned flying home, unaware and unbothered by the tall, thin, almost skeletal, blond man with piercing blue eyes and the ashen blond Aldera student with angry red eyes looking for them on the streets below.
Chapter 2: Going forward
Chapter Text
Katsuki was fuming!
Not only did Deku make a fool out of him yesterday as he (was the only one who) tried to help him. Then today everyone treated him like he was a weakling, asking him if he was okay and telling him how brave he was to face such a dangerous villain.
As if such a third rate villain would be a problem for him (he was not waking up the night in cold sweat and coughing up a storm! Nor did he feel like there was still slime in his throat).
But the worst part was the crap Supergirl pulled. Who did she think she was fooling anyways?
"Oy, Supergirl! You got some explaining to do!"
He finally caught her at the shoe lockers when school ended.
"Hello to you too, Bakugou.." she replied, barely paying attention as she put on her street shoes.
"How can i help you?"
"First off, where is Deku? He didn't show up all day! Katsuki demanded and that finally got her attention as she finished putting on her shoes and looked at him.
"Mom insisted that he took the the day off and see our Doctor. You know, because he was involved villain attack? I'm honestly more surprised to see you here after today."
Katsuki scoffed.
"Like I'm a weakling like Deku..."
Truth be told, his old hag of a mother nagged him to take the day off and see a doctor and only relented when he promised he would go after school. He didn't need anyone think of him as weak.
"Never mind that, Supergirl! Better start explaining what crap you pulled off yesterday!"
"Please stop calling me that..." Kara replied rubbing the bridge of her nose.
"Also, i have no idea what you are talking about."
"Cut the crap! Don't think i didn't recognize you. Did you really think taking off your stupid glasses and let your hair down would be enough to hide who you are?"
Katsuki grinned. Surely she didn't expect him to see through it. Shouldn't have fret over Deku like a mother hen (not that she looked good without glasses).
"Wait. Hold up," Kara replied confused.
"You are mad because I'm not wearing my glasses when I'm not at school or that i let my hair down?"
"Wha...? No I'm mad that you thought you could get away on holding out on me like that! What the hell was that speed? I know your Quirk let's you do all kinds of shit but you were never this fast" Katsuki barked.
"Huh..." Kara replied, scratching her cheek.
"Now that you mentioned it, i guess i really never had to use my superspeed during school..."
"See? You're holding back!" Katsuki sneered.
"What? Deku going to cry if he knew how much better you are than him? Or are you just avoiding his stalking?"
Kara rolled her eyes and in an instant vanished away from Katsuki and appeared at the door of the school building, her backpack flung over her shoulder, looking back at him.
"Whatever your problem with Izuku or me is, i really don't have time for it. But for your information, Zuzu knows exactly what i can do."
With that Kara left the school, lifting off the ground as soon she was out the door and flying over the wall without giving Katsuki a chance to reply.
"Tzk... Don't think that's over..." he mumbled as the long faced boy from the two cowardly Extras came up to him (not that he minded that they run away when that sludge bastard attacked him, he didn't need there help).
"Hey Bakugou. Where were you running off so suddenly?" the extra asked as he stretched his fingers far to long to grab his shoes.
"Had unfinished business with Supergirl, Fingers." Katsuki snapped back and went to grab his own shoes.
"Oh, so you asked her out?"
Katsuki scoffed.
"Why the hell would i do that?"
"Well..." Fingers started.
"You know each other since you were kids, she's hot and kinda cute with her glasses and has a crazy powerful Quirk. Seriously, the only one who would even have a shot with her would be you."
"Tsk... and then i would have to deal with Deku and his stalking even more... No thanks!" Katsuki scoffed as he put away his school shoes.
"True..." Fingers agreed and then started to grin.
"But can you imagine his face when he hears you're dating his sister?"
At this Katsuki had to actually laugh.
"Ha! That would be great. Nerd would be crying his eyes out!"
They left the school, Katsuki's mood improved quite a bit as Fingers remembered something.
"Ah, i nearly forgot! I saw the report when All Might saved yo..."
He stopped when he Katsuki gave him a death glare that would scare an hungry tiger.
"... when All Might saved Deku," Fingers corrected himself.
"Do you know who that bombshell was who was talking with him? Was she a Hero or a Sidekick?"
Katsuki stopped to look at Fingers like he had grown a second head.
"Are... are you kidding me?"
Kara landed in an alleyway a bit away from the school with a frown.
"As if super hearing wasn't already annoying enough... Me and Bakugou? Nooooo thank you..."
She took off her backpack and fished Jor out of it, taking a moment to look at her reflection on the drones surface, taking her glasses off and on several times.
"I don't see it... Okay Jor, you found what i asked you?"
Jor started to float, the tha familiar light glowing from its tip.
"Confirmed. I was able to locate seven establishments fulfilling the set parameters."
"Good," Kara nodded.
"Where is the first one?"
"All right, Izuku. Everything looks good. I couldn't find any residue in your lungs and no signs of poisoning," Dr. Kamisato said as the older woman signed the form on her clip board using the tip of her finger as a pen.
"I'm just glad you didn't just rely on Kara's x-ray vision to make sure you are okay."
"Well Mum insisted i would take the day off to get checked out. She also don't like when Kara uses that power..." Izuku replied causing Dr. Kamisato to chuckle.
"Oh, i can imagine it. I mean when i was at the same age as you and your sister i got myself into all kinds of trouble. If i had a power like that i would abused it as much as i could. Especially with some of the cute boys around back then."
"Dr. Kamisato!" Izuku cried out whil turning red while the older woman laughed."
"Hehe... Ah, I'm just joking. Here. You are free to go," she said and handed Izuku the form.
"But tell Kara she is overdue for a check-up."
"Will do," Izuku replied.
"Can... can i ask you something?
Dr. Kamisato shook her head amused.
Wouldn't be a good doctor if not. What's on your mind?"
Izuku took a moment to sort his thoughts.
"Is... is this what you wanted to do when you were younger?"
"Well... that depends...." Dr, Kamisato started.
"Are you referring about being a doctor, ending up working wit S.T.A.R. Labs or having to run after an teenage alien girl for her check-ups? But i guess you mean the first one."
Izuku confirmed with a giggle and Dr. Kamisato continued.
"Well it wasn't my first choice of career. That would be becoming a princess when i was a little child because i liked the idea to order people around. Other than that i remember always wanting to go into the medical field. But i didn't decide to become a doctor until i was...in my second year of high school i think."
"You weren't sure what you want to become sooner?"
Dr. Kamisato shrugged.
"I was still a teen and back then schools weren't so focused on herd everyone they deem worthy into Hero careers and treat everything else as a consolation price."
"I see..." Izuku said slowly and Dr. Kamisato shook her head.
"Obviously i can't tell you what to do with your future but i can tell you that you have way more options to do what you want than you might think. There is no need to cling to one thing especially with your age."
"Yeah, i guess that makes sense," Izuku nodded.
"Thank you Doctor."
"I am really sorry, Miss," the tall blond muscular man with a thick tail said as he walked with Kara out of the Ojiro Dojo, his son with a similar tail following.
"But like i said we are completely booked out for the next months and i just can't take any more students at the moment."
"It's okay," Kara replied while trying not to let her disappointment shown.
"At least you didn't reject me outright. And i still have a few options left."
Master Ojiro nodded solemnly.
"Yes i am aware that far to many Dojos nowadays look more for strong Quirks than for discipline and sadly that is the same reason we have so many students."
"Because you don't care about Quirks." Kara acknowledged.
From the four Dojo's and Studios Kara visited so far, Master Ojiro was the first one not to ask for Izuku's Quirk.
"Precisely. Since my great grandfather opened the dojo it was always or philosophy to unite the people through our martial arts, regardless of power," Master Ojiro confirmed while stroking his chin.
"Ehm, Dad?, his son chimed in.
"Aren't a lot of students giving up after some time? Maybe we can take her brother then."
"Yes Mashirao. That was what i was thinking about," Master Ojiro agreed and then turned back towards Kara.
"Most of the students we have this time of year are teenagers who want to prepare for the practical exam for the Hero Course at Yuuei in ten months. Usually not a few give up and drop out of my lessons after three or four months and i would have a spot four your brother then. I know it is not a guaranty and he would not have much time but..."
"It would be an option, "Kara finished the sentence and bowed towards the older man.
"Thank you, Master Ojiro for your patience and understanding. I'll keep your offer in mind but i hope my brother and i won't have to take you on it."
"Neither do i, though i would be honored. I wish you the best of luck."
With that Kara said her farewell to Master Ojiro and his son and walked a few corners away before she took out Jor.
"Damn it... that was our best shot so far... Okay Jor, where is the next one?"
Izuku was on the train home, looking out of the window as he spotted the towers of U.A.'s main building and without even realizing that he left the train he was standing on the other side of the road of the main gate, watching many students leave, chatting and laughing, some in a hurry, other just walking with their friends.
Finishing out the damage notebook from his pocket, Izuku starred at it for a moment before he walked to a nearby park and sat down on one of the benches, looking towards U.A.s towers reaching proudly towards the sky. Carefully he opened it, revealing All Mights large signature written over two formerly blank pages.
"A Hero like me?" All Might said in Izuku's memory.
"I only laugh to hide the fear and deal with the pressure... A Hero has always to risk his life... I'm not going to lie but it would be impossible without a Quirk..."
Izuku looked down with heavy sigh, trying to think what he was going to do now.
"Well, what reason would be for such a heavy mood on such beautiful day like this?"
Izuku looked up startled and spotted the small person standing before him, looking at him curiously.
They had a clear mutation quirk, giving them the appearance of mix between a large rat and a dog, with white four, a long tail and two button like eyes, one adorned with a scar, wearing a white shirt, red tie, black pants and waist coat and a pair of relative large brown shoes.
Izuku couldn't help but feel like he has seen that person before somewhere but he couldn't tell right now.
"Ehm... sorry," Izuku started unsure of himself.
"Can i help you?"
The stranger chuckled.
"I guess i should ask this question. You see, i was informed about a young person, not part of Yuuei's student body, lounging across the street, watching the students and decided to check up on this. Though i can clearly say that i didn't expected what i found."
"Sorry," Izuku apologized.
"I just have a lot to think about..."
"Yes, i can imagine," the rat person replied.
"May i?"
They gestured to the empty space besides Izuku on the bench and after Izuku agreed with a nod climbed up and took their seat besides him.
"In my experience it can help to talk to someone," they said.
"Not just to get their opinion but also to sort one thoughts and think more clearly. If you want i would be willing to listen. Of course i will not ask to share something private or something you don't want to tell."
Izuku looked at the stranger. Their offer seemed genuine but could he trust them?
He looked again at All Might's signature in his damaged notebook and made his decision.
Kara was floating through the broken door out of the so called boxing studio, if someone could even call it that, towards the young man she had just thrown through, feeling the heat in her eyes in her anger. One of the moments it paid off that she still wore the glasses or else she might have accidentally burn off the face of this asshole...
"Couple of things here," she said in a low tone as she landed and pulled this guy up by the collar of his muscle shirt.
"One: Telling me you take only people you approve off but you would throw in a good word if would be willing to keep you some company is not a good way to get on my good side."
The man looked mortified as he looked into Kara's eyes and nodded hastily.
"Two: I'm fourteen!"
"To... to be fair... you look older then that..." the guy tried to placate Kara who was giving him a even more angry death glare, complete with red glowing eyes.
"Not helping myself, am i?"
"Nope..." Kara confirmed.
"And third: You do not! I repeat, you do not get to cup a feel and expect the person to be just fine with it!"
"Got it," the man was quick to agree and Kara let him drop back to the ground.
"Good."
Kara looked back to the door, where several visitors of this so called boxing studio were gathered, watching Kara and the man with uncertainty before she lifted off the ground and flew away landing after a few moments on a roof to take out Jor again..
"Damn it..." Kara muttered.
"That was the last one... Jor, you are sure there are no other dojos or studios?"
"That is correct", Jor confirmed.
"I was not able to locate any other fulfilling the set parameters using the global information network of earth. Do you want to adjust the parameters?
"Would that help Izuku?" Kara asked.
"In what way to you intent to help Midoriya Izuku to help by seeking out the established locations?
Kara looked at the drone for a moment before she facepalmed.
"Right... I never specified why i am searching for a dojo or sport studio... I want to find someone you can teach Izuku how to fight. He is going to need it..."
"Understood. New parameters are set," Jor confirmed.
"I have a alternative to the previously set parameters."
Kara looked at the drone with a raised eyebrow.
"What alternative?"
"And know i don't know what to do..." Izuku admitted.
He had to admit the stranger was right. Talking about his problems did help to sort things. And true to his word, the rat person did not probe further, only asking now and then for Izuku to clarify things, allowing him to left things out he really didn't want or couldn't talk about with this stranger.
"I see," the stranger nodded their rat like head.
"Yes, things like that can really weigh one down..."
At one point the stranger asked if he could take a look at Izuku's notebook and being sure that the stranger couldn't read Kryptonian, Izuku agreed.
Currently he was looking at the entry about Kara, seemingly contemplating something as his paw like hand was gliding over the drawing of his sister and the small sketch of the sigil of House El.
"If you don't mind asking," the stranger began.
"I obviously can't read in whatever code you wrote in your notebook, a smart decision by the way, but this entry appears more intensive than the rest. Is this someone important to you?"
"Oh... it's just my sister," Izuku explained as the stranger handed him back the notebook.
"She has a really powerful Quirk and she always believed in me."
He looked wistfully at the drawing as he continued.
"We always dreamed about becoming Heroes together, helping each other out and so on but.... over time she became stronger and stronger and... and i just can't keep up."
Izuku closed the notebook. hating the pang of jealousy he felt admitting his thoughts.
"I am just to weak to help her..."
"I would disagree, " the stranger replied.
"In my opinion people give far to much weight to one form of strength or power and neglecting other aspects. Yes maybe you might not be able to keep up in terms of physical strength or a Quirk but i am sure you can still think of ways to help your sister, or anyone else for that matter in other ways."
Izuku thought about it. Thought about his meeting with All Might and what the Nr. One Hero said. Thought about what happened after that, about the Slime Villain, the Heroes and about what he said to Death Arms. Thaught about his conversation with Dr. Kamisato earlier and...
"Yes... Yes i think i can, Izuku finally said, earning him a smile from the rat person.
"Well, that is good to hear. Oh would you look at the time. I really need to be going. Farewell, young man, wherever your path may lead you, i wish you the best of luck."
"Yeah me too," Izuku said, as they both left the bench.
"Thank you for listening."
"Okay, Jor," Kara said overlooking the hills of trash at the Dagobah Beach.
"Would this place be good?"
"Negative" Jor droned as the hologram appeared.
"To many debris and environmental hazards for an effective training."
"After i cleared the beach..."
"Under these parameters, the beach would be suffice as location."
"Good." Kara grinned as she threw the jacket of her uniform over the drone.
"Hold this and look for the Number of the nearest scrap collector while i clean this mess."
Kara lifted her glasses and used her x-ray vision to make sure that there were no nasty surprises among the trash and then started to collect ever piece of trash she could grab and stacked it neatly near the path, sorted by size, form and material. Thanks to her speed and strength and the fact that she didn't need to worry for injuries, it took her not more than 15 minutes.
A short call afterwards, the local scrap collector was far to eager to be able to claim the treasure trove on spare parts, metal and possible machines that could be repaired, even under the condition to dispose of any unusable trash.
Kara was even able to get a pair of sport mattresses out of it.
"Ha! Zuzu is going to be surprised." Kara said with confidence as she made her way home both her mother and her brother waiting for her.
"I have something important to tell you!" both Kara and Izuku said at the same time causing Inko to giggle.
"Okay, you first," Kara said with a grin. She could wait a moment to let Zuzu tell her whatever it was before she told him the good news.
"Really?" Izuku asked unsure but then caught himself.
"Okay so... i kinda had the whole day to think about what to do and... i think it would be best if i apply for the Support course at U.A. instead of the Hero Course.

Chapter 3: What it means to have a brother
Notes:
Be Me: plan to write a nice story about Izuku having Supergirl as sister and go from there.
Also Me: Start to work out enough Backgroundstory for the two and how it would affect their childhood that even Tolkien would ask me if i'm okay. and end up cutting most of it because the chapter becomes long enough as it is and it wouldn't fit the pasing.
What did i do to myself that i deserve to be punished by me like this?

Chapter Text
"You want to do what?!"
Kara couldn't believe her ears. Why? Why now?
"Kara, please...please let me explain!" Izuku tried to calm her down, taken back by her outburst.
"I... i... really think this would be better..."
"No! No it wouldn't! You don't know what you are saying!"
"Kara... please calm down and let Izuku explain," Inko said as she placed herself between her two children.
Kara looked at her mother and brother before she nodded and grumbled:
"He better have a damn good reason..."
"It's... it's like i said," Izuku started.
"I thought about what happened yesterday and... and I'm really not suited to be a hero... but i think i can do a lot good in support."
"Bullshit! If anything yesterday showed that you have everything to be a Hero!"
Kara slammed her hands on the table which creaked under the sudden force, causing her to shoot an apologetic look towards Inko who shook her head slightly.
"Everything to be a Hero..." Izuku repeated.
"Except for the fact that i can't even protect myself..."
"No Zuzu, that was..." Kara tried to reply but Izuku continued.
"I... i mean no matter how you look at what happened yesterday, i didn't make a difference and i had to be saved by All Might and you instead! Death Arms was right, i could have mad everything worse."
"But that doesn't mean you have to give up! You just need to train and that's what the Hero Course is for. Right Mom?"
Kara turned towards Inko who was looking conflicted
"I... well if Izuku thinks it is the right thing for him, maybe we should support him..."
"You can't be serious!" Kara snapped and earning her a stern glare from her mother.
"Not in that tone young Lady!" the plump woman said before she continued more softly.
"Truth be told... I was always worried... for both of you. I am happy that you care for Izuku, Kara but... Izuku is not as strong as you and... he would be in danger as a hero. And when he finds something that makes him happy and keeps him safe then..."
Kara shook her head.
"But he wouldn't be happy! Zuzu you can't possibly really think that this is the best for..."
"Please Kara," Izuku interrupted her.
"It's... it's my choice. And i couldn't even pass the practical exam for the Hero Course."
"Of course you can!" Kara nearly yelled.
"Look, i spend this afternoon to find a place were you can train for it and..."
"I DIDN'T ASK YOU FOR IT!"
Kara and Inko were taken back by the sudden outburst while Izuku looked down, the eyes hidden behind the strands of his hair and fists clenched at his side.
"So that's it then, huh?" Kara asked in a low tone not even bothering to hide her disappointment anymore.
"You let Bakugou get too you and give up."
"It's not Kacchan..."
The whisper was barely audible for anyone who hadn't enhanced hearing like Kara. And unfortunately for Izuku she wasn't in any mood to ignore it.
"If it's not Bakugou then who is it?"
Izuku clenched his jaw and stayed silent, refusing to look at her or Inko.
"You know i heard you, Zuzu. Who is it?" Kara started to float while Inko approached her.
"Kara, i think this is enough."
Ignoring the warning look her adoptive mother gave her, Kara pressed further.
"Is it your teacher? The jerk of a Hero yesterday?"
"Kara!" Inko said with more force while Izuku remained silent.
"Who. Is. It?" Kara pressed further frustrated by Izuku's stubborn refusal to answer.
"I said it's enough!"
Inko's voice now had a tone that neither Kara nor Izuku heard often, a tone that did not accept to be ignored without consequences.
Kara decided she could deal with said consequences later.
"Just answer me, Zuzu!"
"It's you..."
Inko was about to grab Kara's sleeve as she they both were stunned when Izuku's voice broke his silence and Kara landed, trying to process what she just heard.
"Wha...what? Zuzu...what do you mean?"
Finally Izuku looked up, his eyes painfully fixated on Kara, desperately trying to hold back tears and clearly loosing that fight.
"It's you, okay? It's always been you! It's because i just can't keep up with you!"
The tears now ran down his cheeks, not the infamous Midoriya crying Izuku and Inko fell into whenever they were overwhelmed by their emotions. No, this were silent tears filled with pain and sadness and anger. And what really hurt Kara that this anger wasn't directed at her but inwards.
"You... you are the strongest person i know," Izuku continued.
"And you become stronger every day... You might become even stronger than All Might. And i... i just can't compare..."
"Zuzu... that doesn't matter..." Kara tried to sound reassuring while she felt tears in her own eyes just as Inko was holding back tears herself.
"I would never just leave you behind..."
"I know... and i should be happy about it. But it only means i would hold you back..."
Izuku tried to give them a teary eyed smile.
"You are just amazing, Kara. And... and you can be the Hero we always dreamed of... The Hero i just can't be. And i just don't want hold you back but... but at least i can help you in support. I might not be saving people but i can help you and other Heroes to do that..."
Izuku looked at Kara with that tearful smile a silent plead in his eyes that Kara would understand.
And she did. She understood as she held back her tears and her eyes started to heat up as anger was rising inside her and after a moment of silence she turned away and stomped towards the balcony door.
"Do what you want!"
Not waiting for a reply, she stepped outside and took to the air, ignoring the calls from both her brother and mother, rising higher and higher, letting her tears flow until they started to freeze on her cheeks and she found herself above the clouds.
Sobbing she took her glasses from her face and rubbed the frozen tears from her eyes with her free hand.
"Idiot... I'm such an idiot..."
As long she could remember Kara loved the sun. Whenever the sun shone, she just felt a bit stronger, more active and just didn't tire out that much.
At four years old she of course didn't know why but it didn't matter to her. It didn't matter that she took longer to get tired or that she could push or lift more than other children her age.
After all, Zuzu said Kacchan was strong too. So it didn't matter.
What mattered however was one day when they were playing and Kara tripped and fell. But she didn't want to fall so she stopped Only when Zuzu called Mommy and Daddy that Kara got her Quirk did she notice that she was floating in the air.
The next day Mommy and Daddy took her to the Doctor. Kara didn't know why she was always going to a different Doctor further away than Zuzu. But Dr. Kamisato was nice so it didn't matter. It also didn't matter that she talked with Mommy and Daddy without Kara after some tests since Zuzu was there with her drawing her flying with All Might and him, rambling how cool her Quirk was and how she would helping so many people. Which lead to a far more important discussion between the four year old siblings.
"Girl Might is stupid," Kara insisted stomping her foot for emphasis.
"Want a better name!"
Zuzu scratched his dark green hair and sticking his tongue out trying to think.
"All Girl? Or... or Might Girl?"
"Nooooo..." Kara whined.
Not a name like All Might, Zuzu!"
"But... your Quirk is cool as All Might!" Zuzu tried to argue.
"It's just so super cool!"
"Still don't wanna!" Kara complained while Zuzu looked at her, gears turning in his head.
"Supergirl!" he suddenly declared beaming, confusing Kara.
"Super... girl?"
"Yeah!" Zuzu confirmed.
"Because you're a girl that saves so many people because you are just super cool like that!"
Kara looked at at Zuzu who was beaming at her and a excited grin started stretching over her face.
"You're the best, Zuzu!"
Later Dr. Kamisato told her, that the sun was what let Kara fly and make her stronger and that she would most likely get even stronger over time. Which was super cool. even Kacchan said so.
And flying was the best thing ever!
So the next few days wer spend showing of her quirk in the daycare, getting praised for it and spend the time at home with Zuzu watching their favorite video of All Might together.
That Kara missed how worried Mommy was looking at Zuzu when they weren't looking didn't matter.
A few months later, nearing Zuzu's birthday, Mommy took Zuzu to his Doctor.
Mommy told Kara it was a normal visit so it didn't matter.
What did matter was that Zuzu barely reacted to her when he came back and she asked him if he wanted to play with her.
Mommy took her to her room and told her that the Doctor said Zuzu wouldn't get a Quirk because of a toe or something, which was stupid. Mommy also told her to let Zuzu alone for while. Which Kara didn't like. Kara really didn't understood what it meant back then and it didn't matter that he didn't had a Quirk.
What mattered however was that Zuzu was crying and Mommy was apologizing to him when Kara spied on them.
And to Kara it was simple: Zuzu was sad after he went to his Doctor so that Doctor must be a bad Doctor. So Zuzu should just go to a better Doctor, like Dr. Kamisato who would not make Zuzu sad.
It was not with a small amount of pride that Kara declared her logic the next morning.
Slowly things started to matter.
When they heard that Zuzu wouldn't get a Quirk, the adults at the daycare told everyone they should be careful playing with him. And many children took it as to just not play with Zuzu and the adults didn't tell them they should.
Kara of course tried to play with Zuzu if no one was but the adults insisted that she should play with the other children. And to be honest she liked playing with them, after all she was good at tag or playing ball because she was fast and strong like Kacchan.
And at least Kacchan was allowing Zuzu to play Hero with them, even though he insisted that Zuzu was playing the villain or someone needing to be saved.
He also started calling Zuzu Deku or useless but that didn't matter because he was just reading Zuzu's name wrong. After all he wasn't as smart as Zuzu, even though Kacchan didn't like to hear that.
One day though something changed. Their group was wandering a nearby forest for a place to build a secret base and they had to cross a small stream over a fallen tree. Not needing to climb, Kara flew ahead as she heard someone falling into the water and turned back.
Turned out Kacchan slipped and fell down but looked okay. And Zuzu climbed down and wanted to help him up. Kacchan in return got angry and shoved Zuzu into the water, declaring that he didn't need help from a weakling and that Zuzu could never help anyone because only strong people with great quirks could be Heroes.
Kacchan was of course a meanie but as Kara flew down to help Zuzu up, she couldn't help but wonder if it wouldn't have been better when her brother did not try to help Kacchan.
After all villains attacked people who were weaker and Heroes defeated villains because they were stronger.
And Zuzu was weaker so maybe he shouldn't try to help...
Izuku was being stupid again.
Sure Katsuki was being a jerk again when he played Hero by being mean to the boy he decided would play the villain until he was crying but that didn't mean Izuku should protect him from Katsuki.
They were six and went to elementary school now. Zuzu should have learned that he wasn't strong enough to stand up to Katsuki...
Kara didn't like how Katsuki was always picking on Izuku but as long as Kara was willing to play with him and his friends he would not make Izuku play the villain.
And Kara liked that they insisted she would be always play a Hero along with Katsuki because she was nearly as strong as him and she could fly.
Which was easy. She never had to put in any effort during sport classes and the teachers were still praising her.
And so long as Katsuki was leaving him alone, Izuku should be okay.
Which was why Zuzu was stupid every time when he tried to stop Katsuki when the blond boy was mean to whoever was being declared the villain that time.
Just like today, when Kara watched her brother being beaten by Katsuki and his friends and ending up lying in a puddle left from the rain earlier the day, bruised and dirty.
"You are stupid, Zuzu!" Kara said as she flew over to him as he slowly got up, the other boys already gone.
"You know you can't beat Katsuki."
Izuku kept his eyes to the ground and tried to walk past Kara who was flying in front of him, crossing her arms.
"Seriously Zuzu. Why did you fight Katsuki?"
"Didn't want to fight," Izuku replied walking past Kara again.
"Just wanted Kacchan to stop picking on Haruki..."
"Still! You're not strong enough. That's why you're not going to play Hero."
Kara followed Izuku still floating through the air, who was still walking away not looking at her.
"You're no Hero too..."
Kara scoffed as she heard that and blocked Izuku's path again, this time landing in front of him.
"Yes, I am!" she claimed proudly and puffing he chest.
"I'm stronger and have a great Quirk! I'm Supergirl, after all."
"You're not super!" Izuku snapped back shocking Kara.
"O... of course i am! You said so!"
Izuku shook his head glaring as angry as a six year old boy was able to.
"Heroes are super cool because they help people! But you don't help... You're not super..."
Kara was hurt hearing that. Weak or not, Zuzu was still the smartest boy she knows and no one knew more about Heroes than him. If he didn't think Kara was not a Hero then...
"Take that back!" Kara shouted, not wanting to follow the thought and shoved Izuku. She didn't put much strength in it. Maybe only a little more than she was used to use on everything else she did, only intending to shove Izuku a step back or two, or maybe to the ground.
To her surprise she saw Izuku being flung several meter threw the air, landing and rolling with a painful cry and ending up back in the puddle.
"Zuzu!" Kara cried out and run over to him as he sat up, holding his arm.
"I'm sorry, i... i didn't mean to...!"
She reached out with her hand to help Izuku up, which startled him and he looked with scared tearful eyes at her as if he just noticed her standing in front of her scooted backwards before he got up and run away, leaving Kara behind speechless.
Zuzu... was scared of her...
She looked at her reflection in the puddle and didn't like what she saw.
Zuzu was right.
She could have stopped Katsuki from beating Izuku but she didn't. And she hurt Izuku. That's wasn't what a hero did... Heroes didn't hurt people but villains did...
The more she spiraled in her thoughts, the angrier she got at the sight of her reflection as her eyes started to get hot.
She made Zuzu cry and in her logic it meant she was bad. A bad sister.
And as if to confirm her thoughts, the eyes of her reflection started to glow red and the more Kara stared at it, the more she hated it, her eyes becoming hotter and hotter until the puddle started to boil and bubble.
With a fearful cry she stumbled back, frantically looking for whoever was making the puddle boil only to realize that everywhere she was looking things started to burn, causing Kara to panic as she suddenly heard Izuku.
"Kara?! What's wrong?"
In her panic, Kara closed her eyes, not wanting to hurt her brother even more and sank to the ground sobbing with painfull heat burning behind her eyelids. And she refused to open them no matter how much Izuku tried to calm her down but eventually he got her to take his hand and led her slowly home.
And not long after Mom and Zuzu brought her to Dr. Kamisato with a blindfold over her eyes, mostly for Kara's reassurance because she refused to open her eyes even after the heat vanished and it took Dr. Kamisato some time to coax Kara to open them in a safe room.
"Okay, Kara. You said it happened when you got angry. Think you can look at the target over there and try to get angry at it like you did before?"
Kara looked over to Dr. Kamisato and Izuku who were standing behind a window separating them. She winced as she saw the cast her brothers arm was in before she nodded at Dr. Kamisato and looked at the target at the other side of the room she was in. Squinting she tried to get the feeling of anger again and felt a slight heat in her eyes but not nearly as hot as before.
"There is something happening," Dr, Kamisato said looking at some computer.
"Try to think about what made you angry before and try to imagine the target as that. And whatever happens keep looking at the target!"
And Kara tried. She thought about how she hurt Zuzu. How she let Katsuki hurt him. How Zuzu was right that Kara wasn't a Hero. Wasn't super. Her anger and disappointment at herself. And she tried to think that the target was all this and slowly the heat in her eyes was getting hotter, her eyes started to glow in a red light until two thin red beams of light shot from her eyes, hitting the target, which started to catch fire.
"Good, Kara! Keep looking at it and try to calm down."
As Dr. Kamisato told her, Kara kept looking and tried to calm down.
It took her a few tries, the fear of not be able to, fighting against her while the beams kept burning the target but eventual she managed it, the heat in her eyes cooling down and the red beams vanishing, leaving the smoldering leftovers of the target.
Shortly after she found herself in Dr. Kamisato's office together with Mom, Izuku and Dr. Kamisato.
"I managed to reach Hisachi. He said he might be able to fly back to Japan around the end of the week," Mom said before turning towards Dr. Kamisato.
"Could you find out what happened?"
Dr. Kamisato nodded.
"I think so but i would like to wait for your husband to tell Kara everything what is going on."
"You mean...?" Mom carefully asked without ending the sentence, what Kara and Izuku confused.
"Yes, i think at this point we have to tell her because i think this is only the beginning and the longer wait the harder it might become for Kara," Dr. Kamisato explained, causing Izuku to jump up.
"Wha... What's wrong with Kara?"
Dr. Kamisato bend down to Izuku with a warm smile.
"Nothing is wrong. Your sister is just someone very special. But if you two like i can explain what happened with her eyes right now."
Kara and Izuku looked at each other and then nodded.
"Alright," Dr. Kamisato started.
"Kara, do you remember how your Quirk works?"
"Ehm... the sun makes me stronger and lets me fly?" Kara answered not completely sure, causing Dr. Kamisato to shake her head with a smile.
"Not quite. It is more akurate that your skin absorbs sunlight and turns it int energy that surrounds your body and this energy makes you stronger and allows you to fly."
"And she used the energy to shoot this lasers, right?" Izuku guessed with excitement.
"Almost correct. It is more a minor form of pyrokinesis."
"Poiro... chinesis?" Kara tried to repeat.
"Oh! Oh! Like breathing fire like Dad does!" Izuku shouted.
"Yes you can say that. Though in Kara's case it would be more like a heat vision. The lasers we saw were actually just the air being burned between Kara's eyes and the target."
"Bu...but i don't want to burn things by looking at it! What if i burn Mom or Zuzu?!"
"Don't worry Kara," Dr. Kamisato assured her.
"We know now how you trigger this power and as long as you keep calm, everything should be all right."
"But... but what..."
"Do you want to burn Izuku or me?" Mom asked with a soft smile.
"No! I... i don't want to burn you! I don't want to hurt you or Zuzu!" Kara yelled and added softly, "don't want Zuzu again..." as she looked at his injured arm.
"Than you won't," Mom reassured her.
"That is why we are here after all."
"But... what if... there is something that makes me angry and i look at you or Zuzu before i stop being angry?"
"I have a idea!" Izuku called out and snatched the pair of glasses from Dr. Kamisato's desk.
"When Kara always sees something she don't want to burn then it should help, right?"
With that he put the glasses on her. They were to big, hanging tilted in front of her face and made her eyes watery but she couldn't help but smile as she saw Izuku's reassuring wide smile.
"Izuku, don't just take someone else glasses!" Mom scolded Izuku but Dr. Kamisato smiled at them.
"I think your brother has the right idea. Would you feel safer with glasses?"
Kara nodded.
"Then i think we should get you your own glasses. We have an optician on the ground floor in this hospital, in case a patient need glasses on a very short notice. They should have a pair that fits you better then mine. Sounds good?"
Kara nodded again and shortly after they were trying on different glasses, Izuku helping as much as he could, even though he could only use one arm because Kara broke the other one.
And Izuku decided to stay with Kara when Dr. Kamisato asked Mom to leave Kara at the hospital over night just to be safe and to test how strong she was.
And that made Kara frown.
She hurt Zuzu. Made him afraid of her. But he tried to help her.
Zuzu was right. Kara wasn't a Hero. Wasn't cool or super.
But Izuku was. But Izuku was. Not because he was strong but because he was helping.
Kara wasn't a supergirl. Not yet. But she would be. She promised herself that someday she would be a Hero like her brother.
The week went by and like Mom said, Dad came back from America and shortly after they sat in the living room at home, together with Dr. Kamisato bringing a some sort of box with her while Zuzu was holding Kara's hand.
You know we told you that we adopted you after we found you as a baby, not long after Izuku was born, right?" Mom began as Dad helped Dr. Kamisato to take some items from the box.
A red blanket. A plate shaped like a diamond with red edges, a yellow background and the English letter S in red as well an it and a oval silver thing, which they laid in front of Kara on the table.
"But there is something we wanted to tell you only when you are ready for it."
The sun was long gone beyond the horizon, leaving Kara in the coldness of the night. Not that it really bothered her. Through the clouds she saw the the apartment complex way down below on the ground, appearing almost minuscule if Kara hadn't her enhanced eyesight.
But she was even able to see clearly the light coming from her home, the balcony door still open and light coming from Izuku's room.
With a sigh she descended, not as fast as she could though, she still needed a moment to think what to say, until she landed and entered the apartment, closing the door, while Inko was sitting at the dinning table with a cup of tea.
"Sorry i flew off, Mom. I... i needed to calm down."
Inko sighed.
"I guess we all three got rather emotional..."
Kara nodded.
"Mom? Are you... are you happy if Zuzu doesn't become a Hero?"
"If I'm honest, i am worried about him that he gets hurt. Worried about both of you," Inko started to explain.
"But i also want you two to be happy... But people will attack him, Kara. Would he become a Hero he would be target of scorn or because villains think he is weak without a Quirk..."
"And... do you think he wouldn't be attacked when he does something else?" Kara asked, slowly without accusation.
"I... i don't know," Inko admitted leaving them both silent for a moment.
"I... i should apologize to Zuzu..." Kara finally said.
"If he even wants to see me..."
Inko smiled at her.
"You know he couldn't stay mad at you."
"I know, " Kara replied.
"Maybe sometimes he should..."
Kara made her way to the door with the All Might themed nameplate, knocking carefully.
"Zuzu? Can... can i come in?"
It took a moment in which Kara listened to Izuku's heartbeat and the sound of his feet before he opened the door and let her in, both avoiding the other eyes. She took a look at all of his Hero merchandise, mot of it displaying All Might and took a deep breath as she turned towards her brother.
"I'm sorry!"
"I'm sorry!"
Both teens looked at each other surprised for the second time this day before they started to giggle for a moment.
"Look Zuzu... i shouldn't have been going off on you like that..." Kara said while sitting down on his bed while Izuku shook his head and sat down in front of his computer.
"It's... it's okay. I should have talk with you and Mom before making that decision..."
"No, Zuzu," Kara replied.
"It's your decision and i should support you! It's just... I didn't want you to give up... And i never realized how much my powers bother you..."
"But I'm not giving up," Izuku tried to refute.
At least i don't think so. And your powers never bothered me. I mean, yeah sometimes i might be a bit jealous but that's not your fault and it's just more that i don't want to be a burden..."
"Zuzu! You are not a burden. I could never see you as such!"
Kara nearly jumped from the bed but Izuku held his arms up in a calming manner.
"I know. And neither would Mom or Dad. But i just want to do something that is helpful and maybe i always knew i couldn't do it as a Hero but it only really clicked now but..."
"Because of yesterday..." Kara mused.
"Well... kinda, yeah," Izuku agreed while scratching the back of his head.
"There might be a little more to it... please don't tell Mom."
Izuku handed her his charred notebook, opened on two Pages with the name All Might written over them.
"Is this... real? When did he give you his autograph?"
"Well when he saved me from this Sludge Villain..." Izuku admitted sheepishly.
"The first time i mean..."
"WHAT?!"
"Psssst... Mom doesn't know!"
Kara calmed herself before she asked more quietly: "How? When?"
"When i was on my way to buy a new notebook. That villain tried to use me as a "invisibility cloak" and All Might safed me and caught the villain in a Soda bottle. I wanted to ask him if i could be a Hero like him... you know even without a Quirk and because he was about to jump away iiiii may or may not have grabbed his leg and was dragged along through the air..."
Kara looked at her brother stunned.
"That has to be the most stupid and at the same time most awesome thing you ever did, Zuzu..."
"Yeah i know..." Izuku admitted sheepishly.
"Anyways he landed on a rooftop and i was able to ask him..."
"And he said no."
It was a easy conclusion and Kara didn't know how she should feel about it, considering they both looked up to All Might.
"He wasn't dismissive," Izuku continued.
"He actually listened to me and gave me some advice but he showed... he told me his smile is only show to hide his fear and to make people feel safe... And he explained how dangerous it is even with a Quirk like his..."
"Oh, Zuzu..." Kara sighed softly.
"And well today i had the chance to think what i could do and well, maybe i can help through support. You know give Heroes the tools to do better or cover their weaknesses. That way i could still help people."
"Sigh... sounds like a plan," Kara had to agree.
"Guess i went out to try to get some training for you for nothing."
"Oh yeah... What have you even planed"
Kara sighed again.
"Had Jor look up some dojos and studios nearby. He found seven. Two asked for a Quirk and rejected you outright, Three doubled the prize for, and i quote, "insurance" and only one was willing to take you as a student but they are booked full and might only get a free spot in a few months. And that was a maybe."
"Oh... Ehm...what was with the seventh?" Izuku asked his sister who tried to avoid eye contact.
"Doesn't... doesn't really matter. They were a bust too. Anyways turns out Jor has instruction for some kryptonian martial arts on his drive."
"Wait! Really?"
"Jepp," Kara confirmed.
"Cleaned up Dagobah Beach so we have a place to train and a scrap collector to haul the trash i put aside away. Got even some training mattresses out of it."
Izuku thaught about it
"I mean we still can train it a bit... krayptonian martial arts sounds interesting and it wouldn't hurt."
"Really?" Kara lit up.
"Yeah. To be honest I'm kinda surprised we only learn about it now..." Izuku mused and Kara nodded in agrement.
""I know, right? At this point we really could use a instruction manual for Jooooor..."
Both teens paused in the realisation.
"Zuzu... did we really never...?"
"Don't think so..." Izuku confirmed and in a blur Kara ran was out of Izuku's room and returned with Jor in hands.
"Jor?" Kara asked carefully.
"Do you have something like a instruction manual for you?"
"I have." The drone answered
"To you want access to it?"
"Can you print it out for us?" Izuku asked curiously.
"Positive. Do you want to proceed?"
"Yes," both teens confirmed and Jor connected to Izuku's printer.
"Oh almost forgot," Izuku said.
"Dr. Kamisato wants me to remind you that your yearly check up is due."
"Noooo..." Kara whined and threw herself on Izuku's bed again..
"That's going to suck..."
Izuku was confused.
"But i thought the tests weren't that bad? I mean relative speaking. Don't think many people lift a car over their head."
Kara sat up, tapping her pointer fingers in front of her face, starting to blush slightly.
"That's... that's not the problem... More that she is going to measure me and then i might have to confess to mom that i need new clothes... Including the top weight supporting undergarment kind..."
"Oh..." Izuku could only say, starting to blush himself.
"Yeah..." Kara replied
"At this point i am at a solid C, nearing D if they grow any more... As if i don't overhear enough comments at it is... Just be glad you don't have super hearing, Zuzu. Only mind reading would be worse..."
"Yeah can imagine... They aren't exactly subtil about the things they say about your... development... around me and it's not really pleasant to hear considering that you are my sister..." Izuku nodded slightly.
"Anyways, i was looking over what U.A. is offering for their support course. It's really interesting!"
"Oh? What did you find?" Kara perked up and floated over to Izuku.
"Well the Support Course is divided in three specializations. Development of support items. Maintenance and Improvement. And Analysis and Costume Design."
"Guess it's the last one for you then," Kara mused and then got a mischievous grin on her face.
"Means i should get used to the idea wearing a shirt with "costume" printed on it as a hero."
"I don't know..." Izuku replied with a smirk on his own.
"Maybe it will be a white leotard wit a boob window. A big one."
"Jerk," Kara said with a snort and bumped her fist playfully against Izuku's shoulder but then she spotted something on Izuku's monitor.
"Wait a moment! You can apply for several courses at U.A. at the same time?"
"Yeah," Izuku confirmed.
"In fact usually they offer applicants who didn't manage to get into the main courses a place in General Education."
"I see..." Kara mused
"And the practical for Support and Heroics is on different days... Zuzu, i know it is a bit selfish of me but... if we really learn the martial arts Jor has saved, would you... would you also try the practical for Heroics as well? Just to see if you could make it?
Izuku thought about it.
"I... i don't know..."
"Please?" Kara pressed
"I want people to see what an amazing person my brother is and even trying for Heroics while also getting into Support is more than a lot of people can say they manage."
"I... I'll try Kara. But if it becomes to much i'll stick with Support, okay?"
"Okay," Kara agreed and it was this moment Jor finished printing the manual.
Excited she took the pages and after a short moments she handed the kryptonian text to Izuku.
"Jor...? Could you print the manual again? In Japanese this time please?"
Notes:
Like always, opinions are welcome, but before anyone ask: No there won't be any Kara/Izuku.
Their just that close as siblings.

Mr. Clean (Mod): Okay first of all: We should stop let Basil pick code names.
Basil the great Mouse Detective (Mod): Denied
Methuselah (Admin): Denied. It was one of his conditions to join us. And it amuses me
Sword Enthusiast: ...
Human Sushi: So much for that... Mr. Clean what are you doing here anyways? I thought you wanted to focus on the American branch.
New director on the block: What is the meaning of these code names anyways?
Mr Clean (mod): I have business with Basil.
Methuselah (Admin): We changing code names on a regular basis and experience taught us that more lighthearted names draw less attention than serious ones.
Basil the great Mouse Detective (Mod): It also helps that the Light is not a world wide conspiracy aiming for world domination. Not since Methuselah gave up when Quirks emerged anyways.
Methuselah (Admin): More then 40.000 Years of guiding humanity for nothing because of one random chance of mutation...
Methuselah (Admin): Mr. Clean, what kind of business do you have with Basil? Is it private or a Light matter? We are still waiting for Jafar and Bullseye.
Mr. Clean (Mod): Nothing to serious. My daughter makes plans to move over to Japan and attend Basil's school in the Management and Support Course next year.
Jafar (Mod): Logged in
Basil the great Mouse Detective (Mod): "That would certainly be no problem with her talents. Just send me the application and recommendation to keep the board of education happy.
Jafar (Mod): That joke was old before the internet even existed, Basil!
Mr. Clean (Mod): She also wants complete access to U.A.'s technological resources and free range about the projects she wants to choose.
Jafar (Mod): Name changed to Fu Man Chu by Basil the great Mouse Detective (Mod)
Basil the great Mouse Detective (Mod): Now that would be a bit of a taller order I'm afraid.
Mr. Clean (Mod): Would 1.471.660.000,00 Yen divided over several independent donations help?
Fu Man Chu (Mod): Point taken. I'll take Jafar
Fu Man Chu (Mod): Also why are we talking about Mr. Cleans daughter?
Fu Man Chu (Mod): Name changed to Jafar by Basil the great Mouse Detective (Mod)
Methuselah (Admin): We are still waiting for Bullseye and Mr. Clean wanted to use the opportunity to deal with personal matters.
New Director on the Block: I am surprised you would pay that much for your daughter. And why specifically Japan? As much as i heard she could go anywhere she wants.
Basil the great Mouse Detective (Mod): That certainly would help
Mr. Clean (Mod): She is paying it out her own allowance. And she wants to build up her own corporate basis outside from LexCorp. And away from her brother. A sentiment i completely understand.
Jafar (Mod): What is junior up to this time?
Mr. Clean (Mod): Bought a internet company to run into the ground and then to rebrand it. Also he wants to clone Captain Celebrity mixed with his own DNA.
New Director on the Block: Why?
Mr. Clean (Mod): Because Star and Stripe is to high profil.
Basil the great Mouse Detective (Mod): Ah yes. We all know that genetic experiments of this nature never backfire, right Methuselah and Jafar?
Sword Enthusiast: Star and Stripe is a disciple of All Might's ideals! She is not to be touched!
Bullseye: Logged in
Human Sushi: Great... it's true what they say...
Jafar (Mod): I'm over 600 years old. That means i am to old to give a damn about your baiting, Basil.
Bullseye: Sorry I'm late. Waller's been a bi#?3 again. Also my Internet provider sucks lately.
Mr. Clean (Mod): Is your provider T&AT?
Bullseye: Yeah. How'd ya know?
Mr. Clean (Mod): Thought so. That's the company my disappointment of a a son bought for his newest hair brained scheme. Fired roughly half of the staff and is about to drive away even more. Will only get worse from there.
Bullseye: Damn... Looks like i need a new provider... Kinda need a secure connection for my missions.
Mr. Clean (Mod): Don't worry. I set you up with a special premium contract with LexCom. Free of charge. Take it as a bonus for the successful mission last month. Can't have the Chief Enforcer not be able to do his job because we can't reach you anyways.
Bullseye: Appreciated.
Methuselah( Admin): If you are done, we still have have matters of the Light to discuss now that everyone who it concerns is here.
Methuselah (Admin): First order of business: As you should be aware the Director has departed. Instead New Director on the block is going to take his place.
Bullseye: Hadn't got the chance to read the debriefing yet. How'd he kicked the bucket?
Basil the great Mouse Detective (Mod): Suffered an terminal case of too dumb to live and got himself shot by the Commission's first operative.
Wannabe Nobunaga Oda: That's... a disrespectful way to describe it..
New Director on the Block: But unfortunately a accurate one. I am still working through the backlash, have to deal with budget cuts and have to terminate staff members for house cleaning.
Jafar (Mod): Need a few Assassins for it? I could send a small team provided Human Sushi leaves a gab in his patrols that a small boat can reach the coast of Japan.
New Director on the Block: Terminate as in fire them not killing
Human Sushi: As long as they avoid any confrontation...
Jafar (Mod): Eh back in my days it was basically the same.
Methuselah (Admin): No it wasn't. I was around at that time. Can i proceed?
Methuselah (Admin): One consequence is that the Commission lost the first operative. As result we managed to make a contract with Sword Enthusiast to act as enforcer in Japan. Bullseye, if you would.
Bullseye: Got it. Code name's currently Bullseye. I'm the Chief Enforcer of the Light, means i go where there is no Enforcer active or over their head. I also take care if a enforcer doesn't play bye their contract. Other then that i don't care what you do. Just keep to the agreement and take care off whatever you're told to do and we most likely won't have a chat eye to eye. And by that i mean the eye of my scope to the eye in your skull. Got it?
Sword Enthusiast: As long as the contract doesn't interfere with my mission to purge Japan from fake heroes i will do as I'm told.
Bullseye: Peachy.
Methuselah (Admin): Good, Next item on the list. Basil, what is the statues on the beacon and his torch?
Basil the great Mouse Detective (Mod): He is still looking for a new torchbearer to pass the torch on. He was here and wanted me to look for a boy he met he deems worthy. I could convince him not to be too hasty and be more careful to choose a torchbearer.
Human Sushi: Still. You couldn't look for that boy?
Basil the great Mouse Detective(Mod): Could. But it would cause to many questions. There is also another reason i would like for the Beacon to wait to choose a torchbearer
Wannabe Nobunaga Oda: "You are not talking about that quirkless kid from the incident the other day? I can't believe he even would consider an lesser evolved human.
Methuselah (Admin): ...
Jafar (Mod): ...
Mr. Clean (Mod): I'm waiting for the punchline...
Bullseye: Daddy has still a chat with his superiors at work. Call you as soon as it's finished, Sweety
Bullseye: Sorry, wrong chat...
Wannabe Nobunga Oda: I mean we most certainly want someone with a strong Quirk to receive cultivate the torch, right?
Basil the great Mouse Detective (Mod): About that. I looked into the past torchbearers and would like to confirm a few things. Jafar could i take you up on that offer to send a small team? I need them to collect some samples from the past torch bearers if possible and like them to be analyzed.
Sword Enthusiast: Quirk or not, only someone who truly follows the beacons example can be worthy!
Jafar (Mod): Can do. Any particular reason?
Basil the great Mouse Detective (Mod): I like to check a suspicion i have that might limit the choice the beacon have to choose a torchbearer. But it would useless to discuss it until i know more.
Methuselah (Admin): Very well. I think that was all unless there is something else?
Basil the great Mouse Detective (Mod): I do actually. Wannabe Nobunaga Oda could you forward the files of the vessel? Not all, I'll just need a few pictures of the vessel and the symbols the team took before the vessel sealed itself.
Wannabe Nobunaga Oda: You found a lead to the passenger?
Basil the great Mouse Detective (Mod): Not quite. I found a lead to someone who might have been in contact with the passenger. I just need some material as cross references.
Wannabe Nobunaga Oda: How fast can you track them down? Do we need to guaranty them? I can have a task force ready in a few hours!
Basil the great Mouse Detective (Mod): Please calm yourself. It is nothing urgent, i only might have a lead. Considering the circumstances it might take me a year to follow it up completely.
Wannabe Nobunaga Oda: We might not have a year! Who knows what the passenger does in that time?
Bullseye: Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the vessel secure 14 years ago? You'd think if the passenger would cause problems we'd already notice by now
Mr. Clean (Mod): While i share Nobunaga's concern, it would be better not to spook it should it hide among humans so more careful approach might better. Once we found it we can asses the danger better and might decide if we can use it or if we dispose of it.
Methuselah (Admin): It's decided then. Basil conduct you investigation in your own pace.Contact us if you know more.
Basil the great Mouse Detective (Mod): Of course.
Wannabe Nobunaga Oda: I only hope we won't regret it. It might very well that this alien just bid it's time. Who knows what deception and fiendish plots it might conduct..."
"I can't believe how easy you made it to fool you, "brother", Kara said with a evil grin, starring at Izuku.
"I lulled you into a false sense of safety and now it is time to reveal my genius plan to dominate you!"
She picked a card from her hand and put it on the table besides a Trading Card depicting the Hero Endeavor.
"I activate Overheating! By using it on a fire themed Hero like Endeavor i can half his remaining HP from 8 to 4 and in return will his next attack do double it's damage. Now i pay the 6 points of Hero Energy i collected to activate his Prominence Burn to attack your last Hero Mirko! And since Prominence Burns attack is doubled it deals 12 full HP damage. Enough to take out all of Mirko's 8 HP in one attack! I win!"
"I activate my face down ability card Lunar Counter!"
Kara stopped laughing and looked at her brother flabbergasted.
"What? Why didn't you used it when i took out Eel boy?"
Izuku shrugged.
"Because i can only activate it when Mirko is the only active Hero on my side of the field and gets attacked. It reduces the damage by half, from 12 to 6, meaning Mirko survives the attack and deals the same amount on damage to the attacker, reducing Endeavors HP from 4 to 0. Which means, I win."
Kara looked at the cards on the table and then back at Izuku.
"You planed this Zuzu... You knew what i was trying to do and planned this."
"I mean, it was relative easy to guess what you were planing,"Izuku answered with another shrug.
"All i had to do to make sure you think it's working because you always let your guard down when you get overconfident."
"Argh, Zuzuuuuu!" Kara whined, throwing her head back.
"That was evil! Stop acting evil or you might get bald!"
"I don't think that it's how it works!"

Chapter Text
"You are serious? Mirai asked while looking at the haggard frame of Toshinori and the mouse/dog figure of the Principal of Yuuei High, hiding his frustration with a neutral expression.
"Nedzu made a good point" Toshinori tried to explain.
"I should keep an eye out for other possible candidates. Young Togata is surely a talented candidate and he made great strides under your tutelage but it would be good if i don't rush things."
Mirai scoffed, one eyebrow risen behind his glasses.
"Not rush things or do you hope to find this quirkless boy again?"
Toshinori scratched his head blond head, the sunken blue eyes refusing to look straight at Mirai
"To be fair, he has shown the right mindset and willingness to help..."
"Mindset and willingness are not enough!"Mirai retorted.
"You need the strength to be the next Symbol of Hope."
"Which would not be an issue if the boy would get One for All of course," Nedzu interjected from his desk, which was a lot smaller than Mirai always believed it to be, which counted for the entire office of the Principal.
"That's not the point!" Mirai protested.
"You can't just give the most powerful Quirk of the world to a random teenager and expect that they can control it."
"Indeed," Nedzu agreed.
"There is no guaranty that whoever receives One for All will have as much of a easy time controlling it like Yagi. Be it because someone has a lack of a previous Quirk or just having learned to control their own Quirk. Not to mention the physical requirement to even have such a power, let alone use it."
"To be honest i did plan to train the boy's body before i would give him One for A... hrrk!"
Toshinori was interrupted by coughing some blood causing both Nedzu and Mirai to shake their heads.
"So you saying Toshinori should wait to make sure Togata is ready" Mirai pressed and got an infuriating smile from Nedzu.
"That and to prepare for his role as teacher next year to keep his eyes open for other candidates. There might be a chance that the boy Yagi was looking for is taking the exam or other candidates might show up. Of course i would also like for him to prepare himself for his future role as a teacher here."
Mirai eyes almost became thin lines as he looked in suspicion at Nedzu.
"No offense but it almost sounds like you want to control who gets One for All..."
"Now, Mirai, that is a bit to far..." Toshinori tried to step between them but Nedzu stopped him with a sign with the same friendly infuriating smile, never leaving Mirai out of his eye.
"Of course not. I am not arrogant enough to believe that i have any right to tell Yagi who he should choose as his successor."
Mirai had to keep his best poker face just for him not to bite the obvious bait while Nedzu's smile vanished.
"However, when it comes to the well being of the students on my school, that is another topic," Nezu continued in a far lower voice.
"And yes, his work study under you does not change the fact that Togata Mirio is still a student on this school. And seeing that you clearly overlook another factor in making him the next bearer of One for All, i have to step in and ask you to take it slow and look for alternatives."
"What... what factor are we missing?" Toshinori asked a bit unsure, causing the principal to slightly smile while still looking Mirai dead in the eyes.
"What are you doing should Togata refuse to take One for All?"
There was a moment of silence as Mirai and Toshinori processed what Nedzu just said.
Mirio wouldn't refuse to carry on All Might's legacy, wouldn't he?
"I see you understand the point i was making?" Nedzu finally spoke.
"Let me reiterate that i am not telling you not to pick Togata. I am merely suggesting to prepare for the possibility that he might not be the candidate you hope for and to respect his autonomy."
It was frustrating. Mirai couldn't help but feel like Nedzu planed the entire conversation and Mirai had no answer to this because Nedzu was right. Mirio had a right to refuse. And while it was possible to transfer One for All against the will of the recipient if everything else fails, Toshinori would do so only in the most dire of situations, something Mirai wanted to avoid at all cost.
"Yes, you made your point," Mirai relented.
"I will still train Mirio, One for All or not, his potential is far to great not to."
"Of course, Sasaki San. I never doubted that you have Togata's best interests in mind," Nezu replied far to jovial before turning towards Toshinori.
"On that note, you might want to contact Shield San on I-Island and explain things. His connections might be useful in this regard. Also i would like you to read this until next year."
Nedzu picked a book out of his desk drawer and handed it Toshinori while Mirai turned to leave.
Nedzu might be right that he couldn't deny Mirio's right to choose if he wanted to take One for All or not. But he could make sure Mirio understood what an honor it was to become All Might's successor and that there was no one more worthy then him.
"Teaching for Dummies 101?" he heard Toshinori saying confused as Mirai left Nedzu's office.
Kara and Izuku finished there first practice of Torquasm-Vo. which turned out to be a mostly some meditative form, meant to bring the practitioner into some form of theta-state if mastered. Useful to stay calm and focused in a fight and to fight against psychological and distractions. It was also the basis for a martial art form named Torquasm-Rao, which they both decided to only start when they were a bit more advanced in Torquasm-Vo.
Instead they decided to go for a more basic form called Klurkor.
Watching the sunday morning sun rising while they both were stretching Kara was glad that they finally could start training because the entire week they got delayed.
First her check-up with Dr. Kamisato at the S.T.A.R. Labs hospital, which revealed that for one, her powers did get stronger and for the other that yes, she did have a growth spurt.
Which resulted into Inko insisting to buy new clothes. At the very least Dr, Kamisato gave her hope that she would only have to deal with it for one, maybe two years longer, assuming puberty was similar for Kryptonians as for humans.
At least her favorite blue sweat pants and tank top were still fitting, albeit not quite as loose as it used to be.
Finishing the stretching they took their position an their mats and followed Jor's instructions while the drone was placed on a towel and played music to give the illusion of being a radio from afar.
Izuku on the other hand used the time to look up anything he could use for his attempt to get into the Support Course. Looking up online lessons in basic engineering and maintenance of electronic devices, preparing some spreadsheets for some analysis on Quirks, regulations and laws for costume design and general rules for support items.
He also called the scrap collector who was willing to let Izuku practice repairing some machines or electronics as long as was willing to help out on the scrap yard.
"So, you going to the scrap collector later?" Kara asked as they slowly followed the movement Jor described them, repeating the notions for a while.
"Yep," Izuku said.
"Said they show me a few things as long as i help out a bit."
"Want me to come with you? You know just in case they are jerks about you being quirkless."
Izuku shrugged
"Actually, they said quirk usage is banned on the scrapyard. Apparently they had a few cases were someone tried to burn or melt some of the junk. But i don't think it would hurt to take a look."
"Don't want to be overbearing," Kara replied as they finished the first set of movements and changed their stances for the next.
"Going just to take a look."
Izuku nodded as the continued to follow Jor's instruction and repeated the motions the next two hours.
"DIE!" Katsuki yelled in the backyard of his parents house, letting loose a large explosion on the makeshift training dummy he made, sending it flying through the air. Immediately he used another explosion to propel himself after his target and smacked it midair with another blast into the ground.
Panting Katsuki came to a stop, sweat running over his face and arms, the sweet smell of nitroglycerin coming from the palms of his hand.
Faster! Stronger! He had to become better!
Supergirl thought she was clever hiding her speed from him. It was probably Deku's idea and the two were laughing behind Katsuki's back.
He scoffed as he set the dummy back up. Didn't matter. He would show them both!
He would proof to Supergirl that it wouldn't matter how much she hide her true strength, he was stronger because he knew what a Hero truly was and would remind her how much better she was then everyone else except him
And he would put Deku back in his place for somehow convincing Supergirl he was worthy of her attention so he could hide his weak ass behind her pretty face.
It would serve him right when she finally realized that she was wasting her time and treat him like the pebble at the roadside he was.
Releasing another explosion from his hands, Bakugou launched the dummy into the air again and launched himself after it.
The blond 14 year old girl looked out of the the large window over the city of Metropolis, sitting in a bean bag in a far to big room, her laptop on her lap, sighing heavily as she counted down the minutes as a tall dark skinned woman, with long flowing dread locks in a pristine suite entered and walked up to the girl.
"Miss Luthor, I have come to inform you that your application at Yuuei Academy and your residence permit in Japan coming next year were already approved."
"I'm aware, Hope," Lena waved her hand.
"Father would give me another lecture if i wasn't. But thank you."
"Of course, Miss Luthor. Anything else you need?"
Lena turned her head around.
"Yes. Several things actually. At first i would like to know how much my father is paying you."
The woman named Hope Tayalooked something surprised.
"Miss Luthor if you want to hire me, your father already ordered me to act as your body guard, assisted and your legal Representative in his absence."
"Oh, I am aware," Lena replied.
"How much?"
To her credit, Hope held Lena's gaze for whole 15 seconds until she caved in.
"35.000 Dollar per month..."
"Good," Lena nodded.
"I'll pay you the same amount extra as long as you inform me about everything you report to my father."
"Miss... I..." Hope started but was got cut off by Lena with a bored hand wave.
"Relax. I don't ask you to go behind my father's back. I just want to know what you are telling him."
Hope relaxed a bit and nodded.
"Very well, but i would inform you what i report to your father if you asked me regardless."
Lena shrugged.
"You work for us Luthors. Sooner or later you got to deal with my brother and there is not enough money in the world to make THAT worth. Besides a good assistant and bodyguard like you should always paid enough to keep them loyal. That being said i have a few errands i need you to run for me."
"Of course," Hope nodded.
"First, i want you to prepare to buy a small shoe factory near Tokyo for me, they mostly make specialized shoes for quirkless and clothes for people with mutation type Quirks," Lena started.
The Detnerat group nearly put them out of business by flooding the market with cheap clothes and shoes. The factory still survives because they have the quirkless population of Japan as costumer base but that won't last forever. However with the right modernization, contracts and a little bit of clever manipulation of the supply and demand situation i should make it work so that they can almost match Detnerat's prizes while also maintaining a far better quality."
"Shoes for quirkless?" Hope repeated.
"Is there really a big enough market for?"
"Jupp!" Lena confirmed.
"People tend to ignore the possibilities because it is on average "only" 20% of the population and mostly older generations but in Japan alone does it make roughly a costumer base of 24,6 million. Detnerat are idiots to ignore a market like this, especially since they seem to aggressively trying to boot out the competition. Which brings me to the second errand."
Lena shifted in her bean bag as she tapped something into her laptop.
"With the way the Detnerat Group is working to dominate the Japanese Market i need some advanced Cyber Security. U.A. might provide some good resources for it but i like to get someone independent to help out. Please see if you can reach someone named La Brava and find out what it would take for them to work for me."
"Of course," Hope confirmed with a slight bow.
"Anything else?"
"No that would be all..." Lena waved off but then changed her mind.
"Wait! If you are at it please order some pizza for me later. The usual."
"As you wish," Hope confirmed and made her way out of the large room as Lena directed her attention back to her laptop and suddenly tossed her arms in the air with a victorious yell.
"YES! Now my Gojiro - Star & Stripe - Doomfist Power Deck is going somewhere!"
Hiro groaned as his Uncle woke him up by calling his name. A look at the clock told him tat it was not even eleven in the morning.
Why was his Uncle waking him on a Sunday to this ungodly hour?
"Hurry up, Hiro! The kid is here!"
Ah right. That... Uncle said he would show some teen how to repair some stuff to apply for some high school. Or rather Uncle asked him to show that boy some some things.
With another groan Hiro got up from his desk he fell asleep on last night, bending his back backwards in order to get feeling back into it, the new spider bot lying on the surface of the desk half finished, just changed his t shirt and combed his spiky black hair with his hand.
"Coming!" Hiro yelled with as much annoyance he could muster. Hiro knew exactly what Uncle was trying to do. He hoped this other boy would convince Hiro to apply for a high school himself as if the 12 year old boy hadn't skipped two grades just to get rid of school.
Making his way down to the small shop of the scrap yard he spotted his Uncle with a green haired plain looking boy roughly Hiro's own height, which confused him a bit.
Wasn't the boy supposed to be 14 or something? Eh... whatever.
"And speak of the devil," his Uncle said spotting Hiro.
"There is my nephew Okamura Hiro. I can teach you a few thing but if you really want to learn how machines tick, he's the best to turn to. Assuming you manage to get him up in the morning."
Hiro scoffed an took a closer look at the boy. Aside from the height their was the t-shirt that read track suit on it, which made Hiro chuckle. At least he had humor in his fashion sense. Might as well ask him were he got it. But then there was the aura.
Nearly every person and machine created a small electric field and it could vary from person to person based on mood, health and quirk.
His Uncles aura for example seemed to concentrate around his hands, were his sense for electric currents was located.
But this guys aura was, stable for a lack of a better term. It wasn't a strong aura but it covered his body completely even. Sure there were some fluctuations due to emotions but other than that it was completely stable. Which Hiro only saw now and then by older people, more specifically...
"He... hello, I'm Midoriya Izuku. I would be honored if you could teach me." the boy said, holding out his hand which Hiro took.
"Okamura Hiro. You... are Quirkless, right?"
There was a ripple in the boy's aura as his green eyes went wide. Somewhere from the entrance of the shop Hiro heard a sound as if someone was inhaling air sharply through their teeth. Yepp hit the mark.
"Don't really care about it," Hiro assured Midoriya.
"It's just that your aura is remarkably stable, something i only see with quirkless people."
At this the look of Midoriya turned to curiosity.
"My... aura?"
"Yepp," Hiro confirmed while pointing at his eyes.
"My Quirk allows me to see the electromagnetic field every person or machine creates. Helps me building my stuff."
There was a surge in Midoriya's aura and suddenly he was in HIro's face a notebook in hand, as if he just pulled it out of the warp.
"You can see the Aura of people? That's amazing! Can you identify people on their aura? See if they are injured or tired? How differs it from machines?"
Hiro blinked and suddenly felt a bond with Midoriya as he answered question after question with more and more enthusiasm. Midoriya got it. He might not be a tech genius like Hiro but he got the urge to wanting to understand things around him.
Questions were asked and answered, suggestions were thrown around, ad one point Hiro grabbed one of his action figure as visual aid and Midoriya's pen moved through the notebook with ridiculous speed until the laughter of his Uncle and another person (female by the sound of it) interrupted them.
"Looks like i was worried for nothing," the female chuckled
"Yeah, didn't expect the two to hit it off like that," his Uncle agreed.
Midoriya's face turned red as they both turned towards the source of the voice.
"Ehehe...sorry. Okamura, this is my sister Midoriya Kara," the greenete said as Hiro's breath was stuck in his throat.
With twelve years old and being smarter as most children his age or older, Hiro denied vehemently that he would ever be interested in girls or boys like his uncle was teasing about.
The action figures or the wallpaper on his desktop depicting an anime girl in bikini didn't count.
And seeing Kara Midoriya he would still hold this position because in Hiro's eyes she wasn't a girl but an angel.
Standing half a feet taller than her brother or Hiro, with blond hair hanging over her shoulders, glasses that draw the attention to her blue eyes and a smile that could melt through a block of dry ice in a instant, she was already pretty.
But then there was her aura, golden and powerful and instead of coming from her body, it seemed like it was drawing the light from the sun shining through the door to her, giving her an angelic glow, only enforced by her fit body , clad in blue swat pants and a tank top hugging her chest.
Hiro swallowed and tried to ignore the heat on his cheeks, as he did his best to act casually, leaning on a stack of... things, Hero did not take the time to check what it was, to focused on making a good impression.
"Ehm... hi. Nice to meet you. Name is Okamura Hiro but you and your brother can call me Hiro if you like. If you need anything repaired or build just ask meeeeeeee...!"
Hiro fell to the ground as the stack of metal cases buckled under his weight, coming down crashing around him.
"It's okay! I meant to do that!"
The months went by, the players prepared themselves as the board was slowly setting itself up.
And all to soon February came and Kara and Izuku found themselves standing in front of Yuuei's gates for the entrance exam.
Notes:
This Lena is based of the second one, who is Lex Luthors daughter and named after her aunt. She kinda got shafted in the comics.
Same with Hope Taya who was Lex's second bodyguard/ assistant besides Mercy
Hiro Okamura is the third Toyman and actually a ally to Superman.
Like always opinions are appreciated
Chapter 6: The Hero Exam
Notes:
Urgh... Finally That chapter was a hell to write since i wanted to show the different approaches between Kara and Izuku to the challenge and setting more into motion the path Izuku is going to take.
But hey, finally some action here, i'm sure some of you were waiting for that.
Like always your opinion is welcomed and i actually could use some feedback about something at the end of the chapter.
Anyways i hope you enjoy the chapter.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Welcome everyone to practical exam for the Hero Course here at U.A.! Can i get a YEAH?!"
Hizashi Yamada, better known as Pro Hero and Radio Host Present Mic, was met with dead silence from the auditorium. which wasn't unexpected. He was used to it. However he was able to pick up some muttering here and there.
Without missing a step he continued.
"All right, that's fine. I'm going to explain to you how this exam is going to play out! Are you excited? YEAAAAAH!"
Another silent respond from the crowd with the exception of a single "Woooh..." that quickly died down. A few other were looking excited the rest was starring at him completely focused.
"Geeesh... lotta mini Shoutas in here," Hizashi muttered under his breath.
"If that's really the next generations of Heroes then the future looks boring..."
He let the moment linger for a second and then continued.
"Pay attention then, dear listeners! You'll facing a ten minute test in our artificial city districts! You can take with you whatever you think you'll need! After this presentation you'll be going to the districts you've been assigned to. Understood?"
Another silence but this time several students were looking on their hand outs and were quietly talking to each other, most likely now realizing that they and their friends from their schools were assigned to different areas.
U.A. wasn't against cooperation among the test takers but would make sure that long time friends couldn't rely on each other as crutches.
"We scattered fake villains in the areas for you to fight," Hizashi continued.
"Each of the three types will give different amount of points depending on the difficulty. Your goal, dear listeners, is it to get as many points as possible!" And of course attacking other contenders or any anti-hero behavior is against the rules!"
"MAY I ASK A QUESTION?"
Hizashi stopped his speech to see how the large student with glasses and blue hair, from Somei by the uniform, would react while he checked which application number he had based on his seating.
"There are clearly four villains depicted on the hand-out!" the student continued without waiting for Hizashi's acknowledgment. There always was one like that.
"If this is a printing error it would be a shame for a prestige school like Yuuei! After all we are here because we expect you to teach us to become top performing Heroes!"
Hizashi prepared to answer as the teen turned around towards someone else in the crowed.
"And you! with the messy hair!" he pointed at a plain looking boy with green hair, sitting between a ash blond boy with spiky hair and red eyes and a girl with honey blond hair tied to a ponytail and glasses on her own, who all three were wearing a dark green uniform fro a school Hizashi didn't recognize, most likely a public middle school.
"Your mumbling disturbs everyone her! If you can't take Yuuei seriously you should leave immediately!"
Now that was just not right. The kid was clearly nervous and getting called out like that was not helping. His schoolmates at his side were glaring at the Somei student in return, the blond boy seemingly having a smirk on his face as much Hizashi could tell and the girl looking clearly annoyed.
Better to step in before a fight could break out.
"Okay, okay! Perfect transition Applicant Nr. 7111. Thank you!" Hizashi said, drawing the attention back to him.
"The fourth kind of villain gives no points. It's simply a obstacle you should avoid! In every district is only one and if they are cornered they're going to rampage. So it's best to avoid them! Anymore questions?"
The blue haired teen bowed in a way to stiff way and apologized for the interruption and Hizachi prepared to wrap up the presentation as suddenly the blond girl besides the nervous green haired boy raised her hand.
"I have another question if that would be okay?"
Hizachi took few seconds to acknowledge her and unlike 7111 she actually waited until he addressed her.
"All right Nr. 7544. Shoot!"
"Is this really all we are doing?"
Hizashi paused. Now this was something he didn't get often.
"What did you expect, Listener?"
The girl shrugged her shoulders while the green haired boy was looking unsure towards her and the blond boy was glaring daggers.
"I mean it looks like this exam tests only how good we are at breaking stuff."
Okay, that was really not something that happened often. Either she did notice the part they weren't testing openly, she had a quirk that wasn't useful for combat or she was just extremely confident about her abilities for fighting that she didn't felt challenged enough. The last two option were usually keeping quiet about it but were still a possibility.
If it was the first then it was worth keeping an eye on her and even if not, her question caused some rumoring amount the applicants in the auditorium.
"I see were you coming from, Nr. 7544! But rest assured even though the test looks simple, it will challenge every aspect of being a Hero!" Hizashi assure.
"Now if there are no more questions, let me give you our schools motto on the way. Like the great Napoleon Bonaparte once said: True heroism is to overcome life's misfortune! Go Beyond Plus Ultra! Break a leg everybody!"
With that Hizashi ended the presentation and slowly the students left the auditorium to change in more fitting clothes and to make their way to their designated areas, while he pretended to gather his notes while he watched them leave and discretely activated his communicator at his collar.
"Applicants 2907, 4098 and 209 are a bit aggressive towards the other students. 7111 is a big stickler for keeping everything to his ideas of rules and order. Don't think he try anything but he might complain about other students. Other than that it's all the same bunch of loose nerves, determination and anxiety everyone tries to hide."
"Understood," came the answer from Nedzu.
"Please make your way to the announcer boot."
Hizashi turned to leave the stage and stopped for a moment.
"Oh and keep a eye on Nr. 7544. Either she'll be disappointed that we didn't tell about the hidden part is all about or she is way to overconfident."
With that Hizashi strode slowly out of the auditorium, grinning to himself.
His colleagues always made fun of him for trying to get a reaction from the students when it would obviously fail but it gave him an excuse to pause the presentation and look for students they should keep a closer eye on. Be it for showing potential or red flags.
Leaving the auditorium and slowly striding out of the building several students ran past him, changed into track suits or other sport attire or sporting some basic support items, making their way to the fake city districts.
And then he spotted Nr. 7544.
She was wearing blue Sweatpants paired with a gym jacket and shoes of the same color. And around her waist was a red belt with a golden buckle and a bag attached to it. A bag that sported a big first aid sign.
And in front of her was the green haired boy from before, Applicant Nr. 7543 based from the seating.
Hizashi almost snorted as he noticed that the boy was around half a head shorter than the girl.
He wore a teal colored track suit with red sneakers. And he wore a red utility belt around his waist with several pouches as well another first aid bag.
Both were performing some form of breathing exercise and then the girl seemed to encourage the boy before taking of the ground and starting to fly towards her designated area while the boy looked after her and then walked towards his own.
An interesting pair for sure. Nemuri would most likely squeal about the display of young love but as far as Hizashi could tell the didn't act like a couple and more like siblings or close childhood friends.
Seeing as the boy was clearly still nervous, Hizashi grinned to himself. It was on him when exactly the exam would start and if he needed to get a coffee first to get rid of a dry throat that would give nervous applicants a few more minutes to calm down then it was just a coincident.
Kara landed on the place in front of the gates to her designated area while other students left the buses they were driven in. Thankfully Izuku managed to find out that she was allowed to use her power to get to the district so she was not confined into the metal box with who knows how many other teens.
She was NOT in the mood for this.
It wasn't that she was nervous. She aware that her powers would be more than enough to get her through the exam but it still left a bad taste in her mouth. As if all everyone expected from Heroes was how hard they could hit something.
Sure she understood that they wanted to make sure a Hero could survive out there but she really was hoping there were more focus on rescuing. A Battle scenario was not where she wanted to show of her first aid skills. At least she didn't want to be it necessary...
Also she was not sure how much Zuzu's support equipment could help him. From what she understood he and Hiro were mostly focusing on keeping human enemies restrained without injury and providing help and first aid for victims.
Kara took to the breath exerciser from her Torquasm-Vo training.
No point in fretting over him right know. Her brother could look after himself and besides he was also gunning for the Support Course, so he had more chances.
Even though, she still was hoping he would make it into the Hero Course. She still couldn't let go of that wish...
BUMMBUMMBUMMBUMM...
And what the hell was wrong with that heartbeat?
Kara looked around. Since her superhearing kicked at age seven in she learned to let most sounds fall into background noises, that included breaths, voices, animals, and heartbeats. Took her weeks to, either sleeping in Zuzu's bed, concentrating on his heart or staying awake, which was a fun way to discover that she didn't need to sleep as long as she could get enough sunlight...
But where was she?
BUMMBUMMBUMMBUMM...
Ah right the heart that was going haywire...
Kara concentrated into the direction of the sound. Most heartbeats here were a bit faster either due excitement or nervousness but not out the ordinary.
Was it the tall guy with six arms maybe his body needed... nope that heart was beating pretty normal...
The small boy with dark purple balls for hair had a similar heartbeat like the one peeping tom she caught spying on the girls changing for P.E. around two years ago... Yeah she would stay away from him...
She walked past the blue haired boy with glasses who snapped at Zuzu earlier. His heartbeat was in a state that indicated a lot of blood pressure but it wasn't what she was looking for and she really didn't want to bother with him...
Where...? There!
Kara spotted a girl with brown shoulder long hair cut to a bob with two slightly longer bangs framing her face, eyes closed and a pink blush on her cheeks, clearly trying to calm down and failing hard at that.
Shaking her head, Kara started to walk towards the girl as Mr. Blood Pressure decided to take offense to that and made a move to stop her.
Whatever he wanted to say however was left stuck in his throat as the world slowed down for Kara for an moment to dash to the girl and to lay her hand on the girls shoulder as the world resumed her usual speed.
"Hey, you doing it wrong." Kara said in a calm tone, getting a short startled shriek from the girl as she looked at Kara with a mild panic in her brown eyes.
"You breathing the wrong way. You'll never calm down like this. Want me to show you a better trick?"
The girl looked at her unsure but also with some curiosity while her heartbeat calmed down a little bit until she gave a little nod.
"Great. Okay, first of you need to..." Kara began to explain her breathing technique while Mr. Blood Pressure seemed to be seething.
Izuku stepped out the bus, with the other students, looking at the large gate leading into the artificial city district, taking a deep breath and took stock over his support gear.
15 Glue Pallets
3 Net Grenades
5 Smoke Grenades
1 of Hiro's Snare Spider Bots
1 EMP Grenade
A electronic mini binocular
The first aid kit
The Line Launcher
A extendable baton
And the Ion Plasma Blowtorch
Depending how big these robots were the Net Grenades and Glue Pallets wouldn't help much, maybe slow them down a bit and Izuku had now idea how effective the Snare Spider would be. Hiro mentioned the web compound was still experimental.
The binocular, line launcher and first aid kit were useful but not against the robots.
Which left him with the Smoke Grenades, the EMP Grenade, the baton and the Plasma Blowtorch.
From those the Smoke Grenades most likely would give him the best chance to get close enough to the bots to find the Off Switch. The baton might be a god way to brake the robots optics if Izuku could get a clear strike and otherwise he might be able to deflect attacks.
The Blowtorch was a reversed engineered design from a kryptonian plasma cutter that ionized the air in front of it to make a short concentrated stream of plasma but Hiro and Izuku struggled to find a potent enough power source to keep it small and mobile. And the energy source Jor provided turned out not only to dangerous to use but would have caused to many questions to be asked.
That left only the EMP Grenade which should be effective with a good range but he had only one.
Izuku felt himself becoming nervous again and went through the breathing exercise of Torquasm-Vo, ordering his thoughts, and calming him down.
It was not good but not the end and at least there was a chance that he could use his performance with his gear here might also help with the application for the Support Course.
"Never seen a mediation technique like yours before. Mind me asking where you learned it?"
Izuku turned towards the blond boy with a thick tail with a fluff of blond hair at the tip, dressed in a Gi who just addressed him.
"Ehm, from a private tutor my sister found. Sorry he's not taking students, he just taught us because of her father."
"I see... wait, the girl earlier in the auditorium. Was that your sister? Is your name by any chance Midoriya.
"Eh...yes. Midoriya Izuku. You know her?"
Ojiro Mashirao. I met her last her when she looking for a Dojo for you two and asked my father about it. Unfortunately he was fully booked so i'm glad you found someone who trained you."
"Oh, it's alright. According to Kara your father was the only one who was even willing to train me because..."
"Ah, yeah..." Ojiro grimaced.
"Honestly i never got it. I mean my Quirk is only having a tail. It's not much more then being quirkless."
Izuku lit up.
"But it is! I bet your tail really helps you with balance and i bet you can generate alot of force using it to attack. Wait! Can you use it to launch yourself forward? That could give you a good movement boost!"
"It's one of the Ojiro style martial arts;" Ojiro nodded.
"But seeing you decked out like this, i should have prepared better. Don't know if what i can do is enough with my martial arts."
Izuku shook his head.
"I'm not so good prepared myself. Most of the items i have were designed to immobilize human opponents not robots. I only can hope what i have is enough to slow them down long enough for me to get to the off switches."
"Wait! Off switches?" Ojiro perked up.
"Yes," Izuku confirmed.
"According to the hand-outs it is enough to immobilize the bots or turn them off via the switch. It doesn't say were the switch is though..."
"Damn... I should have read it," Ojiro scratched his head while looking at his own pamphlet.
"Hey, there is nothing here that says we can't work together. How about it? Might increase our chances."
Izuku took a look at his own pamphlet and found that Ojiro was right. And it might really be helpful...
Hizashi walked slowly through the door into the announcer boot, cup of coffee in his hand and a large smile on his lips. Looking out the window he saw the waiting spaces in front of districts filled.
"Alright! Guess i let everyone waiting long enough. Let's get this show started."
"No, no! She really was helping me calm down," the brunette girl waved her hand in front of her towards Mr. Blood Pressure while Kara rolled her eyes. She did noted the exhaust ports coming from the tall boys legs.
A speedster most likely.
Kara wondered if he was fast enough to have a enhanced information processing. If he had and wasn't aware about it then it would explain his rather rigid behavior.
"In that case I'll have to apologize!" the blue haired teen bowed in an perfect 90° angle, which was impressive as Kara had to admit.
"I was under the impression you wanted to disturb the other examines."
Kara rolled her eyes as she replied: "Well you know what they say about assumptions..."
Kara stopped mid sentence when she heard the quiet electric crackle from the speaker over the large gate.
"And Start!"
With that the gates opened and Kara stepped aside as everyone else was looking at the tower in the distance were the announcer boot was located, unsure what this was about.
"What's the problem? There re no countdowns in a real fight either so better start running!" Present Mic's voice shided from the speaker.
"The clock is ticking!"
In a hurry everyone was starting to run into the district while Kara stood aside and let them run past her, watching out that no one got trampled.
Luckily the gates were wide enough that everyone could run through and the crowd started spread out through the streets and she opened the gym jacket to reveal her favorite tank top and lifted from the ground before she shot through the air into the fake city, passing several students, dashing through the streets until she found the first target, a 2-Pointer, taller as every student, on his four legs with a long neck and a scorpion like tail, crackling with electric energy.
By the time it noticed her and locked on her she was already past it, pulling on one of its hind legs with one hand and holding it up a bit over the ground looking over it until she found the off button the pamphlet mentioned, place at the base of the tail and pressed it, shutting the bot off and carefully put it back onto the ground.
Turning around she spotted another bot, a mecha like machine standing on two legs more than double of Kara in height and sporting two rocket launcher like contraptions on its shoulders, locking on Kara and starting some slime like substance at her.
Without hesitation she dodged the projectiles with ease and flew towards her next target.
Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu grit his sharp teeth, the metal from his body receding after the shock the 2-Pointer just gave him.
The silver haired teen with shark like teeth jumped just right into the fray and took out seven 1 and two 2-Pointer, giving him a a total of eleven points already but in the midst of the fight a third 2-Pointer was able to sneak up on him and while his Quirk protected him from most blows by turning his skin into steel, it did not stop the electric discharge.
At least Steel wasn't the best conductor, so it only brought him to his knees instead of knocking him out but he was open for another attack.
Suddenly a blond teenager with a thick tail in a Gi jumped in and smacked the 2-Pointer's head with said tail, driving the bot back while another teen rushed to Tetsutetsu's side, this one with green hair and eyes.
"Keep them busy!" the Greenette shouted while he looked over Tetsutetsu.
"Are you okay? That was a nasty hit you took there."
Tetsutetsu shook his head with a groan.
"Yeah... I'm fine. Just got a bit shocked there. Thanks for the safe."
The green haired teen nodded and turned around just as a small group of five 1-Pointer turned around the corner, dashing towards them on their single wheel, the diamond shaped heads locked on them while the blonde boy dodged the tail from 2-Pointer.
"Ojiro, take the 1-Pointers!"
The blonde named Ojiro took a look and jumped towards the group of bots, smashing the first with his tail while the green haired boy dashed towards the 2-Pointer, trowing two or three small objects at its legs and dodged the tail. Two legs were were suddenly covered in some substance that glued the legs of the bot two the ground, preventing it from turning around..
Seeing that Green had the 2-Pointer under control, Tetsutestu dashed to Ojiro's side, turning his arms into steel and taking two of the 1 Pointer out, while Ojiro finished the other two.
Turning around Tetsutestu saw the green haired boy walking from the backside of the turned off 2-Pointer.
"Everything okay, Midoriya?" Ojiro asked, jogging up to the other boy.
"I'm all right but I'm down to nine glue pallets and the 2-Pointer was the first they work on."
"Damn and you only got 3 points so far..." Oshiro coursed
"Come on, we find you more."
Tetsutetsu looked at the other two students confused.
"Wait! You two work together? Is that even allowed?"
"It's not against the rules as far as we can tell," Midoriya answered.
Tetsutetsu thought about it for a moment and then looked straight at the other boys: "Okay... you two just saved my bacon there. I couldn't call myself a man if i don't return the favor. I'll help you two."
"Really?" came the surprised reply from the other boys but before they could argue further a 3-Pointer walked onto the street and took aim at the small group, forcing them to take cover behind the destroyed bots as the sticky slime like projectiles flew through the air.
"Damn it! Anyone got a plan?" Tetsutetsu shouted
"That bot is stronger and tougher than the other ones but also far slower," Midoriya replied.
"It's also more specialized in range attacks so if we can get close we should be able to outmaneuver it until we find the off-switch."
"Personally I'm more of a straight line attacker but it's a plan. How do we get close enough though?"
Midoriya took a round object from one of his pouches and the line luncher.
"I'll create some cover with my smoke grenade and then..."
"Midoriya! Over there!" Ojiro shouted and pointed to the other end of the street where several 1-Pointer and two 2-Pointer were approaching while another barrage of gooey projectiles hit their cover.
"Damn it!" Midoriya hissed.
"Okay, you two take care of these bots while i distract the 3-Pointer."
"You sure?" Ojiro asked and Midoriya nodded in response.
"Even if i won't be able to take it down, i can distract it long enough. Ojiro, concentrate on the 2-Pointers. You're are better suited for them then... eh..."
"Tetsutetsu Tetsutestu," Tetsutetsu replied.
"Oh...okay. Tetsutetsu, can you take the group of 1-Pointers?"
"Leave them to me!" Tetsutetsu answered with a shark toothed smiled, punching his metal turned fists against each other.
Midoriya nodded and threw the smoke grenade at the ground, covering the small group in a thick smoke screen as the 1-Pointers were almost at there position, stopping the bots in there tracks and causing the 3-Pointer to pause firing as they lost their targets. After a second two darts with a cable shot out at either side of the cloud, attaching them self to the walls , forming a straight line past the 3-Pointer and shortly after the green haired teen was zipping along it, past the bot, which slowly turned to follow the target as Izuku let go of the line and stuck close to the 3-Pointers legs, hitting it with his baton to keep the attention on him while Ojiro and Tetsutetsu dashed out the cloud on the other side, attacking the gathered bots there.
"You okay there?" Kara asked as she carefully set the other girl down.
"I... i think i hurt my foot."
Lowering her glasses, Kara used her X-ray vision to check on the said foot while grabbing her first aid kit.
"Doesn't look like its broken, maybe just a twisted ankle but you shouldn't move," she said while stabilizing the foot causing the other girl to frown.
"Damn it... guess that's for... WATCH OUT!"
Kara turned her head towards the 1-Pointer the girl was pointing at and which was driving full speed at towards them. Without even getting up, Kara inhaled a deep breath and then started to breath strong storm like winds through the empty street and against the bot, locking the machine in place despite its wheel spinning as fast as it could and started to covering in ice until it was completely frozen and then turned back to the girl who was blushing for a reason.
"Come, there is a medical station nearby. I bring you there."
After a short flight, Kara left the girl with the staff member at said station and made her way back into the streets, helping three other students, either by moving them out of harms way or taking out the bots attacking them before she decided to fly upwards and came to a stop above the city, looking down at the chaos in the streets below. on several places were the sound of fighting to hear. Of crushing metal and different kind of attacks. Some buildings seemed to be on fire or were otherwise damaged. Same for the the streets and fake cars.
At least Kara hoped the cars were fake because she did spot some very expensive looking ones.
With a sigh she thought about what to do. If she wasn't mistaken, then she should have somewhere between 45 to 50 points. She stopped counting as she found herself helping more and more other students in tight spots.
But Kara knew the exam was nearing it's end and she better was getting more points. Figuring that the places were fighting was going one would just mean more fighting over the points but also realizing that the amount of enemies didn't seem thin down so she took of her glasses and used her X-ray vision to look into the buildings and beneath the streets and sure enough she found several tunnels in which the bots were moving into the city.
But what caught her attention the most was the very big tunnel leading to the biggest building in the center of the fake city. And looking into the said building her breath stuck in her throat as she saw what was inside as she carefully put her glasses into he glasses case, which she carefully put into the pocket of her pants and took of her hair band to let her hair down.
"They have to be kidding me!"
"Okay, can somebody tell me how many powers 7544 has?" One of the staff in the observation room was asking and got a very gruff and annoyed answer form Aizawa.
"Read her file..."
Nedzu chuckled silently while the several teachers were discussing the various students.
Of course there would be a proper review later on on but watching the exam life allowed to give them to look already for students who were sticking out. Like applicants 7523, 7543, 7544 and 7111 for different reasons.
And thanks to Present Mic they knew to look out for 2907 and 209 who were already disqualified.
"Nr. 7543 and 4036 have gathered a small army around them."
Doesn't seem to help 7543 much though. He's still far behind in terms of villain points."
"Yeah but he should get a good amount of rescue points."
"7523 on the other hand doesn't seem to get any rescue points but he has an absurd amount of villain points."
A short peeping sound told Nedzu that the exam was about to reach the seven minute mark.
"Well my dear colleagues," the hybrid announce cheerily.
"I think it is time to bring this exam in its final phase. Power Loader, if you would be so kind?"
"Ojiro! Tetsutetsu! Kendo! Hold off the bots! Sero! Ashido! Cover us and support the others if they need help. Kodai and Sato, help me here," Izukuy shouted while tending to the one of the injured students.
Truth be told, he had not enough support gear left to fighting himself so it didn't matter that he wouldn't get any points, As suspected the net grenades were completely useless and he only had one glue pallet, one smoke grenade, the snare spider bot with half a charge left and the EMP grenade.
The smoke grenade would do more damage then help with the group of students gathered around them.
And while there was safety in numbers, it also meant more and more bots were coming to them, increasing the chaos which made the EMP grenade also a no-go.
If it weren't for Torquasm-Vo Izuku would most likely already have a panic attack. Instead he was able to keep the feeling of dread on a manageable level.
"We get them to the medical station as soon i stabilized the leg here. Kodai, can you make me splint?"
The quiet girl nodded, broke a toothpick apart before enlarging one half and handed it to Izuku who thanked her as he finished stabilizing the leg of the injured student.
Just as Sato helped up another student and Kodai and Izuku got up the one he just aided a loud metallic screeching.
Turning to where the sound was coming from everyone saw the largest building in the center of the the city district crumbling in itself to reveal a robot larger than the buildings surrounding it, with a block shaped head with eight red glowing eyes, moving on heavy threads with equally heavy arms gripping the edges of buildings.
In an instant there was a wave of panic and/or shock by the revelation of the 0-Pointer as the machine was starting to move. Many students were running away though luckily most of the group gathered around Izuku stayed, taking note of the situation. With effort Izuku suppressed his own rising panic and took note of what to do.
"Kendo!" he shouted, getting the attention of the orange haired girl.
"We need to retreat! You, Ojiro, Sero and Tetsutetsu need to cover us. Ashido, try to lead students towards the gates if you can. Also try to get others to help us! Sato, Kodai and myself trying to help everyone that is injured get to safety!"
Getting several nods in reply Izuku turned around just in time to see the 2-Pointer approaching and threw the spider bot at it. the fist sized mechanical arachnid didn't waste any time and scuttled around the far larger bots legs, spraying some kind of substance that soon hardened into some kind of webbing, tying the legs of the 2-Pointer together, toppling the machine and then gave a beeping sound, signaling that it just run out off the chemical compound needed for the webbing.
Shaking his head, Izuku collected the Spider Bot and helped the other student moving away from the danger that was the 0-Pointer.
Kara looked at the chaos in the streets under her and took a deep breath.
"Whoever thought this exam was a good idea was either an idiot or an sadist..."
With a annoyed groan she let go of her restraint and sped up her perception, letting time seemingly crawl slower and slower like it was stuck in gum until every movement, every sound around Kara came nearly to a standstill while she was perfectly able to move, breath and think normally.
That was only from her perspective though. In truth she knew that she just let all her body functions work at her highest speed. If someone would listen to her heartbeat right now, they would only hear a flat line in such a high frequency it might hurt their ears.
And then Kara flew down towards the streets, hearing the disturbance in the air behind her and seeing small electric charges dancing over her body when atoms in the air were colliding with her kryptonian energy field. It was only a second from Kara's perspective until she arrived to the first student needing help.
The small kid with purple balls for hair, clearly in a panic, chased by several 1-Pointers and tripping.
Slowing herself she laid her hand on the the boy's shoulder to let her energy field cover and protect him and then dashed through the air, picked up another student and dropped them close the gates of the fake city and zipped through the air back into the city, repeating the process with as many students who needed help as she could find, stopping now and then to slow down her perception long enough to listen for calls for help, letting the surrounding starting to move again and then...
"H... help...please..."
The call came from the same direction as the 0-Pointer, who was just moving its arm downwards as if it was about to grab something
"Hell no!"
Speeding herself up again she flew back through the streets, the world around her slowing down again as she moved faster and faster until she almost flew into the 0-Pointer. Stopping she saw the brown haired girl from earlier being pinned by some rubble and Mr. Blood Pressure beside her, the large metallic hand of the 0-Pointer almost upon them.
With the speed she was moving right now and her own strength, Kara surely could destroy the bots hand with ease but that force would also blast shrapnel everywhere, endangering the two other teens.
So she just moved herself in the way of that hand, holding her own hand out and locked herself midair as she let the world around her move again and the palm of the giant robot collided with her hand, completely stopping in its track
Digging her fingers into the metal plate, holding the giant hand in its place and turned her head towards the two students.
"Are you okay?"
The girl nodded and Mr. Blood Pressure also give only a non verbal conformation, while starring at Kara.
"Good. Give me a moment here."
With that Kara used her X-ray vision to look at the whirring and cutting right through the metal armor and cables with her heat vision, shutting down the control for that arm from the 0-Pointer completely.
As soon as the arm was only hanging useless at the side of the bot, Kara let go and flew around the large machine, cutting off every part of the 0-Pointer systematically in the same manner until the robot shut down completely and landed in front of Mr. Blood Pressure and the brown haired girl.
The former having used the time to help her out from under the rubble and was caring her bridal style.
"Doesn't look like she broke something," Kara informed them, using X-Ray vision.
"Still, we better bring her to a medical station."
"Midoriya, we secured the the place and there seem no other bots coming towards the gate but they still are closed!" Kendo shouted and Sero Hanta took a look at the situation.
Most students gathered at the gates and the green haired boy named Midoriya was directing people to help others with their injuries. Luckily there was nothing serious as of yet but a good chunk of the students would be severely hindered should they forced to fight again. So it was a good thing that the bots and most importantly the 0-Pointer were avoiding the place right in front of the gates.
Several students still able to fight were running back into the streets in small groups to help stragglers and clear a path and Hanta was one of the ones making sure no bot was coming to close to the place just in case. He even forgot about his scores completely.
The tall boy with smooth black hair and organic tape dispenser at his elbows watched the the 0-Pointer turning around a few blocks away and sighed with relieve as some other students came running back.
"We got a problem!" one yelled.
"There is a group cornered and the 0-Pointer is moving towards them!"
Immediatly there was commotion among the gathered crowd.
"What can we do? It's not like U.A. is going to let anyone get seriously hurt, right?"
"Even if, it's far to risky to get near that thing."
"Does anyone even have a quirk that could stop the 0-Pointer?"
"Calm down everyone!" Kendo yelled as the orange haired girl tried to organize the students while Midoriya was taking two objects from his belt pockets.
"I... i think i have an idea..." the green haired teen said and it was kinda funny how nervous he seemed considering that he had a good grasp of the situation around him. Though Hanta barely saw him take down any robots.
"I'll need help though. You can use your tapes to move through the air, right?"
Sero was taken back when the smaller boy suddenly addressed him.
"Eh... Yeah. Can get a good distance like this."
"Think you can carry me on the back of the 0-Pointer?"
Now Hanta was shocked.
"Wha... Hey now that's suicide. Besides what can you do from there?"
Midoriya shook his head.
"We have to try! There are people in danger. Come one I'll explain on the way!"
With that the Greenette dashed past Hanta in the direction of the 0-Pointer without giving Sero the chance to answer and the eyes of everyone else on him.
Crap... no he couldn't just stay back.
With a course on his lips Hanta followed Midoriya and caught up to him.
"Okay what's the plan?"
"I have a EMP Grenade," came the reply.
"I'm planing to use it."
Hanta was confused.
"Why didn't you use it earlier?"
"Because i only have one and it was more designed to short circuit computers, phones and some support items. I don't know how good it works on the bots. And i don't think it will work on the 0-Pointer. At least not from the outside."
Hanta grinned as he understood.
"Got it! So you want to throw that thing into some kind of hatch, right?"
Midoriya nodded.
"I saw one on the back but it's to high up for me and it's most likely locked so i need your help to get up and down from there."
Hanta nodded and pointed towards a near fire ladder leading up a building close to the 0-Pointer.
"Up there!"
Bot teens hurried to climb up to the roof right behind the giant bot and like Midoriya said there was a hatch they could swing over. And he could see the group of student cornered.
Loosing no more time, Hanta attached his tape to the head of the 0-Pointer, got a hold on Midoriya and swung over to the hatch.
Before the hit the back of the bot Midoriya threw the last of his glue pallets at the metal under the hatch and landed with his foot in the substance, his shoe getting stuck giving them both a better hold. Seeing that the hatch was indeed closed shut and he took out the plasma torch and cut through the lock of the hatch as fast as he could before the plasma flame fizzled out, opening the hatch and revealing the inside.
Carefully Midoriya took out the small round object out of his pocket and wiggled his foot out of the shoe stuck to the metal plate.
"Ready?" he asked and Hanta nodded and Midoria activated the grenade, threw it through the hatch and Hanta swung them away from the bot as a wave of electric energy washed over the 0-Pointer and jerking it shut down.
The movement however nearly caused Hanta to loose his hold and they both crashed to the ground, rolling over the tarmac of the street and coming to a stop lying on there backs, bruised but otherwise mostly unharmed,
"AND TIME!" Present Mics voice rang from speakers.
"The Exam is over! If you are injured please wait until our medical stuff and Recovery Girl can come to you. Don't worry, we kept track of all of you listeners here!"
Panting both kept lying on the street, some students checking up on them until Hanta started to laugh.
"Man, you are crazy, you know that? I thought for a moment we are dead, Names Sero Hanta by the way."
"Midoriya Izuku," Midoriya replied.
"And i might still die..."
"How so," Sero asked relatively sure it was a joke considering Midoriya was so calm about it.
"Because my sister is going to kill me if she finds out about this."
Notes:
So, here i could use some feedback about my first draft for Kara's costume later on:
https://www.deviantart.com/davethemaguss/art/Supergirl-Costume-Design-985389127
Not the best work, i know, but it helps visualizing what I'm going for.
Basically i went with a mixture of some already existing versions combined as basis and added some details that fit more into the MHA Universe to make it more flashy.
The boots and the skirt were a must of course, the wristbands are just for optics. Now to the extended clothes from the top:
There are instances were the image of Superman or Supergirl with the cape belowing behind them gave me the idea of a bird theme and i went further with this idea here adding someting of a forked birdtail.Looking back, i feel the belt should be broader but more importantly are the bags on the back of the belt.
Izuku is one of the few characters in MHA who carries a utility belt with pouches or bags and i think he would add this to Kara's costume.
Yes, she doesn't need much of support gear but being able to store a few things or have some first aid material on hand would still be usefullBut what are your thoughts?
Oh and speaking of utlity belts and bags:
Am i the only one who finds it strange how few Heroes and Hero Students actually have something like this?
And even then, most of who do only carrying something related to their Quirk with them. You would think at least rescue Heroes would make it a point to carry first aid materials with them.
Chapter 7: The Results
Notes:
First off, Happy New Year, even if it is a week late.
Second, sorry it took a while but i had some work related stress, comming from changing jobs (or rather employer), which came wit a load of paper work, new expectations and the loss of a crap ton on vacation days i had left. I got them paid out instead, which means Papa State was getting a lot of tax money for it.
Anyways, i hope you enoy the chapter, even though i'm not completely satisfied with it.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
The day after the Practical Hero Exam:
"Welcome to the practical exam for Yuuei's Support Course," a lanky man with orange hair, over sized hands and metal caps at the tips of his fingers said.
"I'm Maijima Higari also known as Power Loader and leading teacher of the Support Course. If you haven't hand over your blue prints, analyzes or designs yet please do before we start."
Hiro and Izuku prepared their tools on the work bench while girl with pink dreadlocks stormed to Power Loader with way to many papers and after some commotion the Support Hero took them with a sigh to addressed the gathered students.
"Well if that was all then I'll move to explain the procedure. As you are most likely aware, Yuuei offers three specializations for the Support Course. Development, Maintenance and Improvement and Analyzes and Design. However everyone is still expected to have some basic knowledge about the machines, gadgets and resources they would be handling. For this we like you to try and repair what we hand you. You are allowed to use your own tools, speak with each other and lend a hand. In fact i encourage you to do so because Support is dependent on cooperation."
U.A. staff walked into the workshop and handed every student another peace of support gear and a wall slid open revealing a well stocked storage room with all kinds of spare parts, cables, nuts and bolts and casings.
"You have two hours after i give the signal to start."
Hiro looked on the mechanic gauntlet in front of him, made of metal and deformed by great heat. This was a joke, right? There was no way they thought this was a challenge.
But then again, like Izu-Ni, not everyone was a tech genius like Hiro and not everyone was going to focus on that. So maybe it made sense.
"Begin!" Power Loader announced and Hiro opened the casing of the gauntlet carefully, revealing fried cooling units and scorched wiring.
"Huh, i thought this was some sort of grip enhancement not meant for cooling."
Izuku looked up from his device, something like a broken digital clock.
"Oh that's one of Heat Conductor's gauntlet's. He has the ability to absorb heat with his hands but he runs the risk to burn himself."
"Oh. okay," Hiro mumbled and then looked up confused.
"Wait, there is a Hero called "Heat Conductor? You're serious?"
Izuku nodded while removing the display of the watch.
"Used to be one of Endeavors sidekicks but went solo around two years ago to work closer with firefighters as a Rescue Hero. In fact i think the damage is from the fire at a chemical plant last month."
"Huh... good to know," Hiro replied and took another look at the gauntlet.
"I guess he tried to absorb to much heat and... wait, that thing has too many cooling units but no way to control how much power they use. No wonder the inside is all busted up. It's always going at full blast regardless how much heat goes through."
Izuku scooted closer.
"Huh...but that would mean he has to use his Quirk just to avoid hypothermia..."
"Which means it strains the electronic inside even more. And this means it couldn't take the real stress from chemical fire induced heat."
"Can you fix it in time?"
Hiro frowned.
"Repairing the damage is no issue. changing the cooling units and repair the wiring should only take 20 to 30 minutes or so. The casing would not be a problem either as long i just exchange the damaged plates. But to install a way to regulate how much power it uses i would have to build it back up from scratch..."
"Then just write a note what you suggest to improve it," Izuku retorted while he removed the broken display of his watch,
Your uncle said you can't just change devices for someone else anyways without their agreement."
"Yeah, yeah. Then just fixing this half-assed piece. How about your watch? Any problem with that?"
Izuku shook his head.
"Don't think so. It's a volt meter by the way. Static Dancer usually wears it but i guess it got damaged during the fight that hospitalized her three weeks ago. So far it looks like as if only display was broken but i want to check for other damages. Could you take a look how the energy flows when i hook it up with a battery?"
"Yeah sure. Just tell me when you need me," Hiro replied and went back to the gauntlet as suddenly a shadow fell over the two boys and looking up to see a tall girl standing before them.
She looked like European, with brown hair and equally brown eyes. She had toned arms, a pair of pants and a tank top instead a school uniform and had a tattoo of an gear on her shoulder.
And she was glaring right down at them with some sort of visor in her hand.
"Ehm.. can we help you?" Izuku asked carefully.
"You know Japanese Heroes and gear?" she asked with a clear accent that sounded german.
"Kinda. It's my hobby so i know a few things."
If he wasn't intimidated by the tall girl looming over them, Hiro would have snorted at Izu-Ni's understatement as the girl laid the visor in front of them.
And then her whole demeanor changed in a instant.
"Could... could you tell me what this is for then?" she sheepishly asked.
"I'm better with armor or robots..."
Izuku and Hiro took a look at the visor. Just a standard model with a yellow tinted glas and some form of communication device at the side.
"This of the communication devices the Wild Wild Pussy Cats are using," Izuku said.
"They are a team of Rescue Heroes and they use a network of satellite based GPS for location, communication and management of rescue missions."
"Got it, thanks," the tall girl said
"I'm Brigitte Lindholm by the way. But you can just call me Brigitte."
"Midoriya... Midoriya Izuku," Izuku replied
"And this is Okamura Hiro."
"Nice to meet you," Brigitte grinned. as someone called out.
"I Require Assistance!"
They looked to the source of the voice which happens to be a girl of their age with white skin and glowing blue eyes, Her hair was white and a large strand covered her right eye in a swirl, wit a strand glowing in blue energy. She was wearing a white dress, blue energy running over the sleeves and the rim around her legs. She was standing with the head of one of the bots from the practical hero exam.
"I Need To Access The Motherboard But I Seem To Be Unable To Open The Hatch."
Hiro thought that her Aura was weird, almost more akin to a machine instead of a human as Izuku noted ho warped the maintenance hatch was.
"Yeah, that seems stuck. Ehm... Brigitte, you think you can help her. We help you with that visor if you want.."
Brigitte grinned and flexed her muscles and went to help said girl. As time went on, more and more students started to work together, with the girl with the pink dreadlocks the sole exception.
The private plane landed at the the airport Haneda, airport staff hurrying to unload the cargo into a waiting mini truck as Lena Luthor and hope exited and walked to a waiting car close by. As Lena sat on the backseat, Hope dismissed the driver, much to his surprise and drove the car herself, leaving the airport as Lena opened her laptop.
"When is my appointment with Nedzu?"
"In about three hours," Hope replied.
"Enough to take a shower at Luthor Tower and get a coffee for you on the way."
"Good," Lena nods as she worked at her laptop.
"While i talk with Nedzu, could you please arrange a business meeting with Takoya Shoes?
"Bad News?"
Lena smiled.
"On the contrary. The company tripled it's profit over the last year. I just think it's time for the next phase."
Hope furrowed her brows.
"Forgive me for asking, Miss Luthor but are you sure shoes that can be worn by people with and without Quirks, as well people with mutation type Quirks is actually possible? I always was under the impression that the difference in anatomy makes it rather difficult."
"You're speaking about the extra toe joint quirkless people tend to have?" Lena replied and shook her head.
"That's just the thing, when quirks arose, there was never a need to change the design of shoes. The missing toe joint didn't change the anatomy of a foot enough for a need. Shoes cut for people without that toe joint emerged because someone had the idea to sell shoes to the metas as a sneaky sign of comradely. Over time, with the population of people with meta abilities, or rather Quirks rose, the market for these shoes grew as well. And with time people forgot that these shoes were just a gimmick short, all i have to do to sell pre Quirk Era shoes as a new type of shoe. As for Mutant Type Quirks, around 72 percent have a regular shaped foot with just the size being a diverse factor. In short, companies like Detnerat sell specialized shoes that don't need to be specialized."
"I see. But wouldn't that run the risk that a group like Detnerat realize that you are simply reusing a old model and expose it?"
Lena chuckled.
"Oh i'm sure they find it out. But what are they going to do? Admit that they charged for shoes no one needed? Or that their statement that making shoes for Quirkless would be too much effort when they already servicing a wide variety of customers was a lie? No, they would risk to harm their own reputation to much. Of course i will have La Brava updating our cyber security, just in case. And perhaps she and her personal "project" can help to distract Detnerat."
"I see," Hope replied.
"I will set up the meeting for you at the earliest convenience. And i should mention that we are followed."
Lena picked up a powder compact and used the mirror to look at the three cars following them.
"The cars don't seem really valuable, so most likely rentals. Yakuza perhaps. The car we are using was picked at random from the car pool?"
Hope nods.
"And the driver was only picked from Lex Corp's driver pool this morning. He was not informed that i would take over at the airport either."
"Looks like i have to explain to father that i replace the Japanese driver pool later this week," Lena sighed.
"But this leaves only one who could organize something like this at such short notice. Could you open the glove compartment please?"
Hope did as asked and found a glass jar with a yellow liquid labeled "Granny's Peach Tea".
"It is amazing how much energy my brother is wasting with juvenile schemes like this..." Lena mused.
"Regardless, it is safe to assume that he wasn't able to get anyone to rig this car with an explosive otherwise he wouldn't have resorted to hiring thugs. Will trying to shake them off delay us?"
"Not in a meaningful way," Hope replied, watching the street in front of her and the opposite traffic on the other side of the road.
"I prepared alternative routes just in case."
"Good. Then please, when we reach Luthor Tower arrange that the jar is delivered back to my brother with a message that his little scheme, like he does in life, failed."
"Of course," Hope replied and used a opening in the incoming traffic to turn the car and change to the other side of the road, passing the three cars following them. Before the pursuers could turn around as well, Lena's car was already gone.
One week later
"The protests for T&AT's latest lay off escalated when Alexander Luthor Jr. was hit by a jar filled with urine during his press conference in Gotham City. The perpetrator was able to escape. As of now there is no comment from either LexCorp or T&AT."
"I really can't understand how someone could do such a thing," Inko mused, listening to the news, causing Kara to shrug.
"Honestly, it's more surprising nothing worse happened. Apparently he managed to turn this company from one of the biggest internet providers in America to a company that barely can keep a stable phone line. It only got worse as he declared bankruptcy for T&AT and pretty much sold all of the assets, connections and costumer base for nearly nothing to his own newly founded company, forcing a lot of people to sign new contracts. And because T&AT still is a big company with a lot of jobs, the government steped in to safe the company with a huge paycheck while Luther Jr. is cutting more and more jobs and siphoning assets to his other company."
"That doesn't sound good."
Kara snorted: "You want to know the weirdest part? There are people who think he is a genius for it. Hey Zuzu? How long do you want to stare at this fish?"
Kara and Inko looked at Izuku who was starring at the fish between his chopsticks with wide eyes and moving his mouth in a silent muttering.
"He's being zoning out like this the entire week," Inko said.
"I hope the results really come today.
"Yeah..." Kara agreed while poking Izuku's cheek, earning a warning glare from Inko.
"I think i just heard the postman down there. Want me to get the mail?
Inko shook her head.
"No it's better if i go. Try to get your brother to eat his breakfast before the fish gets cold."
Inko got up and left the apartment, leaving Kara and her brother. Making sure that Inko couldn't hear her, Kara leaned over.
"Did you know that there is a new limited edition All Might figurine on sale?"
"WHAT?" Izuku yelled shooting up, letting his fish fall back on the plate and was about to run to his room that Kara had to use her speed to hold him back.
"Calm down, Zuzu. I was just pulling your leg. Now, whats on your mind?"
Izuku took a deep breath.
"I... i really don't think i got in. I barely got any bots during the Hero exam and there were so many people better than me with support items and i..."
"Zuzu, stop it! You did fine. Okay, maybe you didn't get many bots but you still got to show off what you can do. And even if that's not enough, you are gunning for analysis in the support course. If they deny you then U.A. is not nearly as good as everyone says."
"Maybe..."
"Hey, i hear Mom rushing back. I guess the letters are here," Kara said.
"Now it your fish as long it's still hot."
Izuku picked up his chopsticks and the fish, which was steaming hot.
"Did... did you use your heat vision to heat up the fish?"
"Whaaat? Why would i ever do that, dear brother?" Kara replied in a playfully manner.
""Besides, when should have the time?"
Izuku looked at Kara unamused.
"Okay, for one, i still know how fast you are with your superspeed. And also my chopsticks are singed."
"Okay.... i might have overdone it a bit..." Kara admitted with as Inko came storming back into the apartment.
"They're here! The letters from U.A. are here!"
Kara snatched both letter from Inko's hand before Izuku could react.
"Kara, give me my letter!"
"Nope," Kara replied.
"Because you'll just end up sitting in your room staring at it for hours and not opening it."
She held the two envelopes up and looked at them with her X-ray vision while floating out of Izuku's reach.
"Doesn't look like there are any rejection letters inside. Only lists with points and some electronic disks."
"Did i do so bad that they send us bombs...?" Izuku asked with wide eyes, getting weird looks from Inko and Kara.
"What...? Zuzu how did you... Forget it! Jor, can you tell me what this is?"
Kara pulled the disk out of her letter and held it up as the drone emerged from her room, scanning said disk.
"It appears to be a primitive holographic recording devise."
Somewhere on Yuuei High's property Maijima Higari couldn't shake the feeling that one of his inventions just got insulted.
"See Zuzu. No bomb. And i don't think they would waste a holographic recorder just to tell people that they didn't make it," Kara said and Inko shook her head.
"That's enough Kara. Give Izuku his letter."
With a sly grin, Kara landed and handed Izuku the letter addressed to him, which he didn't dare to open and Kara sighed.
"Look Zuzu... how about we both go to our rooms and listen to what ever is recorded on here in peace?"
Izuku nodded and both made their way to their rooms, closing the doors and Kara did not waste any time to put the disk on her desk and press the button on its side.
"I AM HERE; AS A HOLOGRAPHIC PROJECTION!" the grinning image of All Might shouted appearing over the disk.
"Midorya Kara, I apologies for us that you had to wait for U.A.'s answer but appraising every applicant does take time. Now you might be wondering why all of all people am the one to deliver your score. Well that is very easy to explain. Because I AM THE NEW TEACHER FOR HEROICS COMMING THIS NEXT SCHOOL YEAR!"
That was... unexpected for Kara, wondering if All Might would be the one to deliver all acceptance letters or only for the Hero Course. Taking a second to listening to the message Izuku was getting, she found that someone else was on that holographic message for her brother.
As someone was telling All Might in a gruff voice to moving on, Kara decided to save the message. Kara was never nearly as much of a fan of All Might like Zuzu, even before apparently told him he couldn't be a hero without a quirk, but she was aware how much fans and collectors valued stuff like this. So she might have a neat bargain chip in the future.
She loved her brother to bits but that didn't mean she would refuse any leverage if she ever needed a favor. Or she could offer the disk to Hiro, who most likely already disassembled the one he received, just to see how he could build a better one.
"REGARDLESS!" All Might finally got back on topic.
"Your points during the written exam were more than adequate. But what about the practical exam? Well you earned 54 points by destroying the robots during the exam with impressive power of your Quirk, already earning you a secure place in the Hero Course. BUT WAIT! There is more!"
The projection changed to a recording when she was questioning Present Mic if fighting the robots was all they would be doing before switching back to All Might.
"You asked if fighting robots would be all we would be looking for in any hopeful future heroes and the answer is of course no. During the exam you opted several times to rather help your peers instead for getting more points, especially during the last few minutes. And of course including when you took on the Zero Pointer just to save two other students without any points as reward. Now how could we ignore such willingness to help others in need? The Answer is: WE DON'T!" A jury judges every students behavior during the exam for a hidden point system. And this jury grants you another incredible 85 rescue points, granting you a total of amazing 139 points total and earning you the first place in this years exam! Midorya Kara. Welcome to your Hero Academia!"
Kara's mind was working in overdrive. When U.A. was granting points then Zuzu would have a real chance to earn his place in the Hero Course. The hologram shut down and Kara stormed out of her room, nearly bumping into Inko, who was waiting for both her children to come out.
"I got in," Kara confirmed, clearly putting her mother at ease just a little bit and then both looked nervously towards the door to Izuku's room, Kara suppressing the urge to spy on him, until the door slowly opened and Izuku came out with wide eyes, the disk in one hand and the lists for both the Hero Exam and the Support Exam in the other, together with a additional letter. Silently he handed Kara and Inko said letter.
Application to Yuuei Support and Hero Curse:
Due special circumstances, the applicant, Midoriya Izuku was accepted as student of Yuuei High for Tactical Support training. As sole student for this special training Midoriya Izuku is expected to participate in multiple tracks as followed:
Support Course Class 1H: Development of support items, Homeroom teacher: Maijima Higari
Support Course Class 1H: Maintenance and Improvement, Homeroom teacher Maijima Higari
Support Course Class 1H: Analyzes and Design, Homeroom teacher Maijima Higari
Special lessons in Intel gathering, hacking and and communication under Principal Nedzu
Heroic lessons together with Class 1A. Homeroom teacher Shouta Aizawa
The list with required school materials and a map of Yuuei High is printed on the back side of this letter, as well the date, time and the number of the class room for your first day.
P.S.:
I am aware that these news seem unexpected and that the amount of work and challenges seem excessive but I am confident that you have a potential that needs this kind of nurturing.
Of course you are free to try for another school if you wish so but i am confident that no other school can grant you the training you require.
I would be honored if you could visit me in my office after orientation on your first day and i will gladly answer any questions you might have about the role of tactical support you might have.
In the meantime i would recommend to read the biography of the late Barbara Gordon, also known as the first Batgirl and as Oracle if you are interested to know more about it and the history of Hero Support in general.
With best regards: Principal Nedzu
P.P.S.:
Of course you can bring any family member you like with with you. But in case of any family member not being part of our student body or staff i would appreciate it if I, or my secretary would be informed at least a day in advance so we can prepare a visitor pass.
Kara finished reading the letter and looked at Izuku, who finally seemed to process what actually happened and started to smile at his sister and mother and before he knew what was happening, was tackled and dragged outside through a window by Kara, who was hugging and cheering for him, flying higher and higher.
"Hey Boss? There is some guy that looks like Jafaar from that old Disney Movie on video call for you."
Nedzu, looked up as his secretary was calling for him.
"Ah yes. I was expecting the call from an old friend of mine. please put him through."
"Got it, boss."
Nedzu turned to his monitor where the picture of a man with tanned skin, green piercing eyes, black hair with some gray streaks at the sides and a fitting goatee.
"I'm going to shave off this mustache..." the man said in a tired annoyed tone.
"Oh , Ra's. You said that so many times already," Nedzu chuckled.
"But let's be honest, you like to much how that beard gives you a mysterious and sophisticated aura."
Ra's al Ghul growled slightly.
"I sometimes wonder what happens if i try to drown you in one of my Lazarus pits... Regardless, my scientists found something interesting about the samples they retrieved for you."
A short notification alerted Nedzu to the mail he just received and opening the file make him frown.
"How many people know about these samples?"
"Only the team I send to retrieve them, me and the three scientists i had analyze the m," Ra's replied.
"All long lasting members of my organization. In two cases even born into the League of Assassins."
"I see... that is good," Nedzu mused.
"I need to find a way to convince the beacon to look into it without revealing the Lights involvement..."
"What i don't get is, how isn't the beacon suffering already from the downside of the torch. According to the results, the premature cellular decay seems to get more potent the more torchbearer cultivated it. My scientists think that even the Lazarus pit could only restore a few years before it would stopp working."
Nedzu shook his head.
"I already have a pretty good idea what the difference is between the beacon and past torchbearers. And it limits the numbers of potential candidates a lot... Ra's, assuming i can convince the beacon or one of his close friends to look into the series of vandalization and grave robbery, would it be possible to have the team send and at least one of the scientist taking the fall?
"The League of Assassins is ready to pay every price to protect the world," Ra's replied seriously.
"They would die for me and our mission. Going to jail for this is nothing to them."
Nedzu nodded.
"Good, because either the beacon becomes aware off the limitation he has with choosing his successor or the next torchbearer will shine brightly just to be extinguished fast..."
Notes:
Look, i like Mei as a character but let's be honest: As good she is as an inventor, she lacks in teamplay. Not that she can't but coorperation with others is not her strong suit, partially because of her social obliviousness.
Also, thanks to Kara, Izuku isn't as much of a nervous wreck talking to a girl, though he is still slightly nervous. And of course there is no saying if it stays that way should he crush on someone.
Chapter 8: First Day, Part 1
Notes:
Sorry it took a while.
Wanted to switch between Kara and Izuku's classes but that would have been to long so i had to reframe and split the chapter.
Kara's experience comes with the next chapter.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
"Come in, woof!"
Detective Tsukauchi Naomasa carefully entered the office of Police Chief Tsuragamae, the dog headed man gesturing towards an empty seat in front of his desk.
"Thank you for coming on such a short notice, Detective."
"Of course Tsuragamae San. How can i be of service?"
"You are familiar with the series of vandalism and grave robbing that occurred over the past year?"
Naomasa frowned.
"Only in passing. The cases that happened in my prefecture was headed by another officer. I do know however that each case seemed to be targeting a specific grave."
"Correct, woof." Tsuragamea confirmed.
"In fact is was this careful choosing of targets that clued us in that the cases were not simple vandalism and that they might connected. And thanks to Nedzu's consultation we also could figure out what the perpetrators were after and where able to catch them."
"I don't understand what this has to do with me then, Sir," Naomasa replied slightly confused.
"If the perpetrators are caught, wouldn't it be a matter for the officers in the prefecture?"
Chief Tsugaramae shook his head.
"Under normal circumstances yes. However the suspects claim that they are former members of the League of Assassins. Interpol is already demanding to transfer the case to them, like a Golden Retriever wanting a treat. Before that however i would like to confirm wether or not they truly were part of the League of Assassins and what exactly they were after. Nedzu suggested that you could be of assistance in this regard."
"I see. But i didn't know how i could have make such a good impression on the Principal however. I'm not aware that i ever worked with him."
"He mentioned that some of his staff worked with you in the past. Also i think your close cooperation with All Might might have helped to give a good impression," Tsuragamea chuckled and handed Naomasa a binder.
"No your mission, should you accept it, would be to interrogate these suspects and find out if they really used to work for the League of Assassins, why the were targeting these graves, who hired them if they are not with the League anymore and what exactly they were after before we hand them over to Interpol. You have my written permission to use your Quirk inside this binder along with any relevant information concerning the case. Any questions?"
Naomasa opened the file and took a quick look at the files.
"It says here the took organic samples from the corpses. Anything else?"
Tsuragamea shook his head.
"No, woof. We could figure out that they analyzed those sample however but we don't know why. There is a list of targets however who had some anomalies."
Naomasa fished said list from the binder and paused as he read over it.
"I... i will get right to it, Sir."
"God, how can anyone be awake this early in the morning?" Hiro grumbled while suppressing a yawn, walking besides Kara and Izuku from the train station towards Yuuei High, the uniform with the marks for the Support Course under his black coat.
"You wouldn't have the problem if you didn't stay up all night," Kara replied, walking for a change, wearing the Hero Course uniform.
Hiro contemplated if he should compliment how good it look on her again or if seven times was to much as he grumbled: "Easy for you to say, since you only need sunlight to get up... but what about him?"
Hiro pointed at Izuku, who was walking between him and Kara, the nose in a book and scribbling notes at the edges of the pages while muttering to himself.
"I'm pretty sure he slept even less than me, so how comes he isn't half dead?"
Kara furrowed her brows.
"Honestly no idea. Ever since he read that biography about Barbara Gordon, he's keeping his nose in all sorts of books and web sites."
"Is she really so interesting?" Hiro asked and Izuku started to speak without looking from his book.
"Barbara Gordon was known as the first Batgirl, working together with the first Batman in Gotham City as vigilante during the emergence of Quirks until she got paralyzed from the waist down through a gun shot. After that she started to work as a information broker and technical advisor for vigilantes, building up a widespread network through the internet and informants, setting up connections for medical and technological support, essentially creating the early basis for the Hero Support system known today. She was also involved in creating the the modern Hero License system, bringing many former vigilantes into the licensed Pro Hero system..."
"Huh... guess that is pretty cool..." Hiro mused.
"Still, is there that much about her?"
Kara snorted and Izuku shook his head.
"I finished every reading material and interviews about her weeks ago... this is about the Batman. Ironically, he himself didn't join the Pro Hero system despite a lot of people vouching for him. His reasoning was that he wasn't willing to reveal his true identity. It was later changed that licensed Heroes can have their private information from public reports because of it. Though it's not used widely nowadays but prominent cases would be All Might and the third Batman or Hawk and Dove from Britain.
Hiro scratched his head.
"Okay, so what is so special about this Batman then?"
Izuku groaned as he closed the book as the reached the gate of U.A. and Kara started to laugh.
"Hihi... Zuzu is just trying to figure out what Quirk the Batman had. He's going through every record, forum posts or even Fan Fictions he can find."
She ruffled her brothers green hair who just groaned in annoyance.
"Do you have any idea how hard it is to find any reliable information on him? And even the ones that are available are vague and sometimes contradicting. In some reports it is stated he's melting with shadows or coming from nowhere, indicating for either a teleportation or a camouflage ability. In others he seems to get people to confess just by looking at them or he is seemingly aware of where people are without any way to see them, indicating some mental or sensory Quirk."
Kara giggled as she started to float in front of the two boys.
"Or... and just hear me out Zuzu, he didn't have a Quirk and was just that good."
"Kara... He once rescued a bunch of hostages from a construction site of a skyscraper," Izuku replied.
"While fighting off a S.W.A.T. Team and the criminals at the same time because they switched places with the hostages, so the police would have shot the hostages. He took out both the criminals and the S.W.A.T. Team over several levels of the building and rescued the hostages without even a single casualty. There has to be a Quirk involved."
"Yeah... i got to agree with Izu-ni there," Hiro nodded, crossing his arms behind his head.
"No way someone could pull something like that off without a quirk... unless they had some seriously advanced technology Maybe he was a robot or a cyborg. Or he was an alien with access to technology from his homeworld..."
Izuku and Kara stopped and looked at Hiro.
"What? It's not impossible! If anyone would know this than it would be..."
"Stop!" Kara interrupted him with a stern look and Izuku added while carefully looking around at the other students: "Remember what we told you when we gave you the "rock"?
"Uh... shit, right! Totally didn't think about it. Sorry..."
"Just keep it in mind..." Kara sighed but then started to grin.
"Or we going to tell our Dad to have the "talk" with you next time he comes back from America. Don't think Okamura-san would complain about it."
"Wha... what talk?" Hiro asked confused and slightly worried at Kara's grin, while Izuku started to stroke his chin.
"Maybe we should do that anyways. You know, for the whole x-ray goggles incident?"
"Yeah, you make a good point," Kara replied with a grin as she and kept walking and left Hiro standing who was clearly confused and started to panic.
"Hey! That was an accident! And i apologized for that! But seriously, what talk?!"
Kara and Izuku kept ignoring Hiro as the reached the entrance of U.A.'s main building.
"Remember when Dad sat us down for it?" Izuku asked and Kara nodded.
"Of course. Was the day my x-ray vision first kicked in. You think he still has all the diagrams?"
Both siblings kept going with Hiro hurry to catch up to them as a car drove through the gates and came to a stop right in front of the building, catching their attention.
A tall woman with dark skin and dreadlocks stepping out from the drivers seat and a blond girl in U.A. Uniform with markings of the Business Course stepping out of the back seat. As they walked up to the building entrance, the cowboy themed Hero Snipe came through the door, stopping the strange pair and gesturing towards the car while talking to them.
To the surprise of Hiro, the girl seemed to be doing the talking and just handed Snipe a note and the woman gave him the car key as they continued on their way into the building, leaving the Hero standing, looking speechless both the notes and the keys before shaking his head and getting into the car to drive it form the campus.
"Okay, any idea what that was all about?" Hiro asked and Kara answered: "Well it's actually forbidden to drive a car onto the campus but it looks like they have a special arrangement, from what the girl said. Also i think she just made Snipe into her valet."
"Ah, so her parents are either in politics or are loaded. Explains the Business Course Uniform," Hero mused.
"And what about that woman?
"Didn't talk but she seems to listen to the girl for some reason."
"Like a maid?" Hiro asked and Izuku shook his head.
"Looked more like a butler or a steward."
"Wait, i thought a maid was a female butler."
"No, i think that would be a housekeeper," Izuku replied and Kara stepped in before it could become a lengthy discussion.
"Safe it for later, you two. We need to get to our classrooms and I'm the only one with superspeed between us three."
Kara grinned.
"Or do you want me to carry you to your class on your first day of school.
"Well, if you offering..., Hiro started but got interrupted by Izuku, who showed him towards the doors, telling him to hurry while Kara made her way to her own classroom and after a short while the two boys arrived at the classroom for their homeroom down in the basement.
Walking through the heavy metal doors into the room which clearly also served as workshop studio with the desks also serving as workstations. Another door lead to a small room which contained several shelves full of fabrics and mannequins behind reinforced glass. There was also another closed door, which looked relative new, considering that the metal door into the classroom and the door to the fabric storage showed signs of damage and use. The wall behind the teachers desk was completely occupied with three large whiteboards and the remaining wall was covered in rows of tools. The room was well lit in soft light, despite the lack of any windows.
"Oh hey! Nice to see you two again!" called Brigitte and came up to them."
"Hello, Lindholm-san," Izuku bowed, causing the brunette girl to laugh.
"Oh right. I always forget people address each other with their surname. Brigitte is just fine. Calling me Lindholm just sounds like you want to talk to my Papa."
"I... i try to remember that." Izuku nodded and Hiro shrugged.
"Fine by me. Never cared for it much anyways."
Izuku looked at the other students, noting how few there were.
"Are we really only ten students?"
"Eleven. But the last one is taking a double course with the Business Course as her main," a new voice answered and Izuku and Hiro turned around to see Power Loader enter the classroom.
"She might come by after the Welcoming Ceremony for orientation, though."
The collected teens hurried to get to their desks only for Power Loader to calm them down.
"Relax everyone. We're going to properly set up your desks and workstations later during orientation so for now just sit where you feel comfortable. Now then, most of you already know me from the Entrance Exam. I'm Maijima Higari, your homeroom teacher for the next three years. We have a bit time before we have to go up to the ceremony so let's introduce each other and then i explain a few things. So why don't we start with you?"
He pointed to the pink haired girl with goggles on her head Hiro recognized from the entrance exam, who was fiddling with some machine and ignored everyone else the entire time but now shot up with a wide grin, showing cross hairs in her eyes.
"Names's Hatsume Mei, future founder and owner of Hatsume Industries. My Quirk Zoom lets me see really far or look at really tiny things. I specialize in Development so that i can make as many cute babies as i can!"
There was a pause as everyone processed what she just said while she started to fiddle with her machine again.
"Okaaaay..." a boy with a somewhat round body shape said.
"Guess I'm the next then. I'm Dangan Maru. My Quirk doesn't do much except giving me a extra thick layer of sucuptus. I have a better tolerance for high or low temperatures i guess. I'm focusing in Maintenance and Improvement."
"Kakashi Shiro..." A thin and tired looking boy with dirty black hair that hang down his head like a curtain of strings and pale skin said.
"Quirk's Scissor Hands... Let's me cut things with my fingers. Here for Analyzes and Design... Nice to meet you."
"It's my turn, right?" Brigitte started.
I'm Brigitte Lindholm. I mean Lindholm Brigitte. Just call me Brigitte. I'm from Sweden and I'm specializing in Development as well as Maintenance and Improvement. I hope i can learn a lot here so i can help my Papa in the Iron Clad Guild. Oh and i got the same Quirk as him, which gives me an extreme high heat resistance. Didn't try Papa's trick of drinking molten metal yet though."
"Your father... Is he Torbjorn Lindholm?" the girl with white skin and hair, covering one of her eyes with a swirl asked through which some blue energy was flowing, who Hero remembered from the Exam.
"Yepp." Brigitte grinned.
"You heard of him?"
"My father told me About him," the girl replied.
"My apologies. I believe it is my turn to introduce myself. I am Tinkerer Sage. But if it would be possible, please refer to me by my given name. I have the ability to communicate with electronic devices. I too focus in Development and Maintenance and Improvement. Though I'm further invested in the programming studies in these fields."
Now that he good a better look at her, Hiro noticed that the blue energy was also covering Sage's hands and legs, even part of the skirt of her uniform. And then there was her aura, which wasn't enveloping her body like most people and more flowing through and out of it, like he usually saw happens with machines. Coupled with her rather petite body, it made her look more like something fascinating ethereal in Hiro's mind.
"Ehm, Hiro?" Izuku interrupted Hiro's thoughts and he realized he was staring at Sage. And that the other students were looking at him.
"Sorry..." Hiro said with a blush.
"You just got an unusual aura... Anyways, my Name is Okamura Hiro but Hiro is fine. I've been tinkering with electronics since I've been four. I'm also focusing in Development and Maintenance. No sense in building stuff if you can't keep it running, right? And my Quirk is called Electrostatic Vision. Let's me see the electrostatic field from machines and people. Or to cut it short, i can see someones aura."
Sage looked at Hiro with a blank expression and the younger teen ducked his head with a nearly whispered "sorry".
"Ehm... I'm Midoriya Izuku. I'm... I'm in the training for Tactical Support, which involves all three specializations. Nice to meet you."
"Wait. What's Tactical Support?" an androgynous teen with deer Antlers, brown hair and reddish brown fur asked.
"I'll explain it with everything else in a minute," Power Loader interjected.
"Let's continue."
"Oh, okay," The teen with the deer mutation shrugged with their shoulders.
"Name's Kobayashi Sika. Yes i know, my given name is literally like the deer. My Parents were creative like that. I go by they/them by the way. And my Quirk should be obvious. And I'm both in Maintenance and Improvement as well Analyzes and Design, making sure that Hero costumes will be fashionable, practical and always fit with their support items."
"Hey, wait a moment", Dangan interrupted.
"Midoriya didn't get to say what Quirk he has."
"I...," Izuku started but calmed himself. Nedzu assured him in the holo message that U.A. would not tolerate discrimination of any kind. Also Hiro was here, so he didn't have to relay on Kara alone for support.
"I really don't have a Quirk."
"Oh... No shit? Sorry, didn't want to put you on the spot if you weren't ready to tell us," Dangan rubbed his head somewhat embarrassed.
"I mean, it's not really the same but people always made fun how my Quirk basically just makes me gain weight,"
"It's okay. It would have come up sooner or later anyways," Izuku waved with his hands and Power Loader reminded them to continue and gestured to the taller of the two remaining boys, who had tanned skin, purple eyes and purple hair, with a small flute hanging from a necklace.
"Yo. My Name is Zenigata Heji. Yes,like the detective from the Pre Quirk Era novels. Like our dear deer over here, my parents thought they were clever with that. I'm in for Maintenance and Improvement. My Quirk is called Wire Charmer. I can control cables and wires when i play music on any instrument. But flutes work the best for me."
"Yeah and I'm Chiazaki Ken," The last student said, sporting blue hair, that seemed to slowly change color.
"My Quirk just makes it that my hair changes color. Can't control it, so it's kinda useless. I'm in Development for Support Items but maybe i branch out later to Maintenance and Improvement."
"Right. Now that's out of the way i can explain a few things before we are going up to the ceremony," Power Loader nodded and cleared his throat.
"As you all clearly noticed our class has only ten students and one student from the Management Course who takes a double course with the Support Course. We keep the classes purposefully this small for the same reason you are in the same class despite having different specializations. In Support we rely heavily on cooperation between the specializations. Analysis is required for creating fitting support items, Maintenance has to know how the support items are built. Design has to incorporate support items or exotic materials and has to make sure maintenance and improvements can easily be done. Because of this you will work in a team for the next three years. Let me make this absolute clear: This is not the Hero Course! Your personal skills are important and something to be proud off but as Support you will only reach your full potential by working with your peers."
The students, sans Hatsume listened intently, taking Power Loaders speech in until Kakashi slowly raised his hand and pointed with the other towards Izuku.
"What about Tactical Support...?"
"Right. That needs to be addressed," Power Loader nodded.
"Before the current System in Support and Management for Heroes communication between Heroes, Support, Police and Medical institutions were mostly handled by people who were called Tactical Supporter. They also managed intel gathering, organization during joint operations between Heroes and the management of support items. Over time most of these duties were taken up by managers, the police or support companies. As a result Tactical Supporters became rare because you need exceptional potential for it bring something at the table. Like the ability to analyze information in a quick manner or a talent to organize people on the fly in the middle of a combat or disaster scenario. Like you demonstrated during the Heroic Entrance Exam, Midoriya."
"Wow, you took the Heroic Exam?" Chiazaki called out.
"Not bad."
"Yeah... but clearly i didn't make it in..." Izuku replied rubbing the back of his head to which Chiazaki shook his head.
"Anyways," Power Loader turned the attention back to him.
"It means that Midoriya will have additional lessons to our Support Course, including attending some Heroic lessons and requires special equipment. In fact the room over there was made extra for you."
The Hero pointed to the closed door besides the fabric storage.
"I'll show you everything after the ceremony when we set up your workplaces and go over the facilities you all have at your disposal. Any more questions for now?"
No one said a word and Power Loader smiled.
"Good, then we are ready to head up to the ceremony. Just one last thing."
He leaned forward and looked at each student.
"During your time here, you are assisting the Hero Students, mostly from your same year but sometimes the seniors as well. A good Hero knows the value of Support. A bad or inexperienced one either thinks he doesn't need them or expect them to drop everything for them. Class 1A and 1B, they're not good Heroes yet. They are students who expect to become Heroes and until they learn what that really means, they do not know what they need. When you have to deal with them, don't let them walk all over you. Get them what they need when they need it and not what and when they want it. No Hero student walks through these doors and drags you off who knows what for without my approval."
With a crunch and a loud clang the heavy metal door suddenly laid on the the ground, Kara standing before Power Loader's desk in U.A's gym uniform, Izuku on her back.
"K... Kara?" Izuku yelled out, not nearly as taken back by her sudden arrival but still surprised.
"SorryaboutthedoorandthatihavetootakeIzukuwithmebutAizawasaidheexpellshimifheisn'toutatthegymfieldintwentyninesecondssoineedtohurrybutihelprepairthedoor later!"
With that Kara and Izuku vanished in a blur, leaving the rest in stunned silence, Hiro and Power Loader getting their thoughts back together first, the teacher slamming his fist on the table and growling through his teeth.
"Ereaserhead..."
Notes:
Honestly i think Barbara Gordan both as Batgirl and as Oracle does not nearly get the credit she deserves
And yes, We all know Batman has no superpower (aside a f...ckton of money) but honestly, looking at the crap he pulled off, it's really easy to start believing he must have some kind of power if people only hear about him.
Writting Kara and Izuku's sibling banter (and somewhat Hiro) kinda became my favorite part writting this fic btw. It's fun.
Chapter 9: First Day, Part 2

Hi. Sorry that it took so long. Work kept me busy and then my Grandfather's health declined rapidly and he died a couple weeks ago. Luckily i got the chance to visit him just a week before he died, so i did got to see him before he died.
Then there was his funeral and we saved a few of his things, which became more stress then it was worth for... various reasons i won't air here.Anyways i hope you enjoy, the chapte became a lot longer than i thought... again...

Chapter Text
Kara watched amused how Izuku pushed Hiro through the doors and then went to get to her own classroom. Finding it took a bit off a time but she spotted the door soon enough. Which was not that hard considering that said door was easily five times of her size in height as she stood in front of it.
"Take your feet from the desk! Don't you think it's disrespectful towards your classmates and the people who made these desks?"
"Ha! From what rat hole did they pick you up?"
She had to pinch the bridge of her nose as she heard two very recognizable voices and using her x-ray vision confirmed that yes, both Bakugou and Mr. Blood Pressure were in her class. The later apparently tried to introduce himself as Iida Tenya and just revealed that he came from a elite private school towards Bakugou.
Kara opened the door loudly before Bakugou could respond with one of his trademark insults and drawing the attention from everyone towards her.
"Good Morning."
Both Bakugou and Iida were looking at her until Iida decided to walk up to her.
"Good morning. I'm Iida Tenya, coming from the Somei Junior High."
"Midoriya Kara..." Kara replied, taking note of the blue haired boy's behavior. Still stiff but at least not as hostile.
"I have to apologize again and thank you," Iida continued.
"I thought you were just interrupting the presentation and bothering other students to distract but as it turns out you simply figured out the true purpose of the practical right away, right. And then you came to aid Uraraka after she got trapped because she saved me from the rubble. I have to admit you are better."
"I... really didn't..."
"Oh, it's you!" the brown haired girl from the entrance exam called out from her desk and made her way over to them, followed by the blonde boy with thick tail, Kara recognized as the son of the Dojo Master she visited almost a year ago..
"I never got to thank you for helping Iida and me with that Zero Pointer!"
"Indeed," Iida agreed.
"Destroying the Zero Pointer to help us was most impressive and i owe you thanks as well. Especially since it was my fault that Uraraka was in danger in the first place."
"Iida, i told you, it's fine!"
Iida and Uraraka started to argue and Kara used the opportunity to address the other boy.
"Hey. It was Ojiro, right? My brother said he met you during the exam."
"That is correct," the blond boy replied.
"Nice to meet you again. Is your brother in the other class because Sero and i were hoping he passed as well."
Ojiro pointed to another student, a tall, lean boy with black hair and and somewhat plain face who waved and smiled at her.
"Oh right," Kara began.
"Actually the thing is... hold on a second!"
Frowning Kara turned around with a frown and looked at the man in a yellow sleeping bag on the ground in the hallway.
"If you were any closer, i might think you want to look up my skirt... who are you?"
The man, with a rough unshaven face got up, making it look like he was some sort of caterpillar with his sleeping bag and looked at Kara with tired eyes.
"You could have noticed me sooner if you weren't busy playing friends," he said while getting out of his sleeping bag, revealing the black jump suit and whit scarf .
"I'm Aizawa, your homeroom teacher. Get to your seats!"
The few students not sitting hurried to their seats while Aizawa got to his desk.
"Eight seconds..." the man grumbled while pulling a gym uniform from his sleeping bag.
"That took far to long. Heroes don't have any time to waste. It's just not rational. Anyways, put these on and meet me outside on the sport field. Make it quick!"
With that he put several still packaged gym uniforms on his desk and left the classroom, leaving the students behind.
"Sooo... does anyone know where the changing rooms are?", Sero asked.
Luckily it wasn't that hard to find the changing rooms close to the sport field and the class gathered outside in front of their teacher. To Kara's surprise however Aizawa took her aside.
"Why did take so long for you to arrive here?"
"We had to change first? And we needed to find the changing rooms." Kara replied, getting slightly annoyed and taken back when Aizawa shook his head.
"No! I mean, why did it take for "you" so long? You could have been here even before me if you wanted."
"What? Want me to run through the school?" Kara replied, eyeing her teacher.
"Not exactly," Aizawa glared down at her.
"But i want you to stop holding yourself back like you did in the Entrance Exam."
Kara was slightly confused.
"But i got the first place in the entrance exam?"
"The exam is flawed and in many aspects not rational," Aizawa replied gruffly.
"It proposed under the false idea that people are created equal. As such someone like you was allowed to pass the exam on the first place despite the fact that you held back for most of it. Considering the quirklessness of your brother you might be used to hold back to..."
"Sorry Sensei but let me stop you right there," Kara interjected.
"You think I'll hold back just to make my brother feel better, right?
"You might think that's not the case but you are clearly influenced by society's illusion that people are created equal. And weather you are aware of it or not, that illusion makes you hold back in order not to stand out. And with your brother lacking a quirk you are used to an even weaker standard, keeping you from using your full potential."
Kara squinted her eyes at Aizawa.
"What is that suppose to mean?"
"That you don't have the luxury anymore to care about weather others feel weaker than you," the teacher shrugged
"As a hero that mindset only gets people killed And you either start acting on it and give it your all, or i don't see any reason to keep you on this school. Now where is your brother?"
"With the Support Course?" Kara replied confused and got a worried feeling about the way Aizawa started to look at her.
"That is the course he's in after all."
Aizawa huffed.
"Only partially. So since he isn't here I'll just expel him for absence."
"WHAT?!" Kara yelled, to the confusion of the rest of the class, except Bakugou. She started to float angrily in front of Aizawa who was staring back at her unimpressed.
"What the hell is that suppose to mean? Izuku isn't even in this class!"
"On the contrary. As his training for Tactical Support part of his curriculum is in my class. That means i can treat him like any other student of 1A. And since he isn't here right now, i can expel him for missing out his training."
Kara could feel the heat in her eyes rising as she snarled at Aizawa.
"He wasn't even told to be here! You can't just expel him for something he doesn't know!"
"Heroes never get a warning beforehand from villains," Aizawa retorted
"But I'll give you that that he should be informed to be here so i give you a chance to get your brother. If he is here in 30 seconds then i won't expel him. So you should hurry."
Aizawa gave her a grin that would fit on the Cheshire Cat from Alice or to a serial killer as Kara stared angrily at him before she took off, the world coming to a standstill around her.
Making sure she wouldn't break the doors Kara flew through the corridors over the first groups of students apparently on their way to the Welcoming Ceremony, taking note if Izuku's and Hiro's class was among them as she past them and making it down to the basement towards the 1H classroom and pushing the heavy metal door open, which broke from its angles and started to fly into the classroom.
Shiiii...urly Izuku's teacher would understand that this was an emergency.
Kara grabbed the door midair, stopping it in it's faster than sound flight and and let go of it to fall straight to the floor. Quickly she grabbed Izuku and lifted him on her back before she forced herself to slow down in front of the desk of Izuku's teacher.
"K...Kara?" Izuku yelled still rather slowly from her perspective.
"Sorry about the door and that i have too take Izuku with me but Aizawa said he expels him if he isn't out at the gym field in twenty nine seconds, so i need to hurry but i help repair the door later!"
And with that she flew out of the classroom, through the hallways and back outside right in front of Aizawa, who just raised one eyebrow but didn't seem to be fazed otherwise.
"...did Midoriya... oh there she is," one of the students said as Kara let Izuku down from her back.
"Nice of you to join us, Midoriya..." Aizawa droned.
"Then we can start."
"Eh... sorry but what is going on?" Izuku asked.
"Kara spoke a bit to fast for me to catch it..."
Aizawa grunted but was interrupted as he got a message on his phone, which he dismissed.
"Right, so you all are going to perform a Quirk Apprehension Test..."
"But... what about the Welcoming Ceremony? Or Orientation?" Uraraka asked.
"Such useless things are only a waste of time," Aizawa huffed.
"Time you will not have to waste as Hero students."
Kara noticed Izuku slightly frown as Aizawa started to explain that they would do eight standard fitness tests while Kara leaned towards her brother, who looked unsure at the situation.
"What's on your mind Zuzu?"
Izuku frowned: "We are supposed to set up our workplaces after the ceremony during orientation..."
"So if this goes longer it's a waste of time for you..." Kara sighed as Aizawa told Bakugou to demonstrate the ball throw with the use of his quirk.
"Did he really threaten to expel me?" Izuku asked as Bakugou stepped into the circle, stared at both Kara and Izuku with a snarl before turning around and prepared to throw.
"Yepp... And i really couldn't tell from his heartbeat if he was lying or not..."
"DIE!" Bakugou yelled as he launched the ball through the air with a large explosion.
"Die?" both Izuku and Kara muttered puzzled as the rest of the class watched as ball disappeared into the distance.
"First you have to know your limits..." Aizawa said as he presented the distance the ball flew on his phone, showing an impressive number of 705.2 meter.
"This is the only rational way to teach you the basics as Heroes."
Kara frowned as the calls of excitement came from several students.
"Great. As if Bakugou wasn't already enough of an arrogant jerk before..."
Izuku was about to response but was distracted by his phone receiving a message. At the same time someone declared how fun it would be since they could use their Quirks, which was apparently the wrong thing to say because Aizawa instantly turned on the students.
"Fun you say? You expect to have a easy time for the next three years? Okay, then the one placing last will be considered to have no potential and expelled."
Shock ran through the students and Uraraka started to complain that it wasn't fair, which Kara had to agree with, but was held back by Iida. Aizawa on the other hand remained unimpressed.
"Not fair? Natural disasters, traffic accidents, villains running rampart. Nothing of this is fair. As Heroes it is our job to combat this unfairness."
"By acting like unfair jerks?" Kara replied with an eye roll, getting some shocked looks from a few classmates, while Izuku was trying to hold her back while simultaneously reading the message on his phone.
"It doesn't matter what you think. Only your results," Aizawa replied.
"And Midoriya?"
Kara furrowed her brows.
"What?"
"Not you. Your brother..."
Izuku looked at Aizawa unsure as the teacher glared down at him.
"Just because your main course is with the Support Department or that you are quirkless doesn't mean you can relax here. I will treat you like everyone else. So if you think you can just play with your phone..."
"Actually Aizawa Sensei..." Izuku quietly responded.
"It's just a message from Principal Nedzu confirming that i should participate in this test and do what you say... "for now" as he wrote..."
"He really wrote "for now"?" Kara asked, leaning over to read the message.
"Yes... complete with quote marks and a winking mouse emoji..." Izuku replied and showed her his phone properly.
"Also that i should use the opportunity to learn more about Class 1A for the Support Course."
Aizawa rolled his eyes.
"Sounds like the rat... all right get to it! And one more thing Midoriya..."
Izuku stood straight to attention.
"Yes, Sensei?"
"Not you... your sister..."
Both siblings looked at each other before Izuku spoke up: "Can Kara help me get changed real quick?"
"There is still one set of gym uniform in our classroom for you she can pick up and someone can show you where..."
Aizawa didn't get further as Izuku jumped up, covered in a sort of colored whirlwind and landed dressed in the gym uniform, Kara neatly folding his regular uniform with a smirk, causing Aizawa to raise a eyebrow.
"You two doing something like that more often?"
"Only when Zuzu oversleeps because he was analyzing the hell out of a hero fight he found online all night," Kara replied grinning and Izuku groaned.
Aizawa send the boy to the rest of the students before turned to Kara, who stopped smirking and looked at him expectedly.
"I'll adding a extra rule for you since i saw during the entrance exam what you are capable off," the teacher said, eyeing her reaction.
"If you fail to make the highest score in even one of the tests I'll expel both you and your brother. And before you waste more time complaining about it being unfair, i just told you that as Heroes it is our job to fight this unfairness. In this case it's completely up to you weather or not it effects your brother."
Aizawa gave her no time to reply as he turned towards the class and ordered them to begin, leaving Kara to take a moment and calm down, until the heat in her simmered down and she made sure her glasses were secure on her face before she joined the rest of her classmates only to surprisingly see her brother with several other students, Ojiro and Sero together with the tall muscular boy and the pink skinned girl with small horns and yellow eyes with black sclera addressing Aizawa.
"Sorry Sensei... but you said we can do everything for these tests, right?"
Shouta watched as Ojiro and Sato used Sero's tape to catapult Ashido during the standing long jump, while Midoriya Izuku was writting in his notebook he got from... somewhere... Shouta guessed he had it on him with his regular uniform when his sister brought him. All in all Shouta was mildly impressed about that group. Working together to improve their scores like this showed some understanding about their abilities and potential to grow. Of course non of them would breach the top scores compared to some of the heavy hitters in the class like this but that was never the point anyways.
And to be completely honest, it looked like this years students weren't half bad, even those with obvious flaws like Minetta and his diminutive stature or his habit to sneak glances towards the girls far more often than he should or Kaminari's lack of imagination in using his Quirk, though he did surprise when he electrocuted himself for a second to get a short boost during the 50 meter dash.
The invisible girl Hagakure needed more self awareness about herself and her surrounding and tried a bit to hard to catch attention to fully capitalize on her potential for stealth but otherwise was in good physical shape, so there was something to work with. From the looks of it she was contemplating to join the group around Midoriya but didn't seem to bring herself to do it, so there was also something to do about her indecisiveness.
Ingeniums brother Iida Tenya did show good results with enough potential to grow. Same for Uraraka considering her results with what she had to work with so far. Same with Koda, the secondary mutation gave him enough strength to stay in the middle of the pack despite him not be able to call any animals for help.
Asui, Kirishima, Ayoyama, Jiro, Yaoyorozu and Shoji all performed in the expected parameters as well, with Yaoyorozu most likely taking the second place overall in the tests despite not being one of the four powerhouses in this class simply because of the versatility of her Quirk and the clear practice and experience with what she is creating.
Which left only Midoriya Izuku and the four powerhouses left
Truth be told Shouta had... thoughts about Nedzu's decision to train the boy as Tactical Support.
Originally he had tied for the last open place in the Hero Course with Monoma Neito from 1B and there were a lot of discussion which of the two boys should get the spot. And Shouta was one of the people to speak against Midoriya's inclusion.
Khan argued that Midoriya had potential as an analytic Hero and Leader and even was proposing to have both Midoriya and Monoma in his class. And while Shouta was willing to accept that Khan was the better teacher when it came to encourage their students to reach their potential, Shouta was more focused on teaching them to survive first. And Midoriya Izuku was both to reckless and to dependent on support gear or help from others, especially with the lack of a Quirk.
No Shouta didn't dismiss Midoriya because he was quirkless, regardless what others said, but rather he was not willing to paint a target onto this boys back because weather anyone liked it or not, there were criminals out there bold enough to trie and kill a Hero for cred and who would see a easy target in a quirkless Hero, regardless of Midoriya's talent, training or skills.
And with him also passing the exam for the Support Course there was no logical reason to put him in the line of fire when his potential could be just as useful in a safer profession. And at least Nedzu seemed to agree when he offered the compromise to train him for Tactical Support. Shouta had a brief period during his early career where he worked with an Tactical Support and could tell from experience how useful they could be and agreed that this might be the best course of action for Midoriya Izuku's training.
That is until the Represent of the Public Hero Safety Commission mentioned that there was no Tactical Support active in Japan who could mentor the boy and that U.A. would have to provide the entire specialized training.
It was 10 years since Shouta worked with that Tactical Support but he remembered that they mentioned that five or six were active back then and all of them retiring during that time frame without training at least one successor might be possible but very unlikely.
The fact that there was no information on them even in the Hero Net reeked like cover up from the PHSC and when Shouta confronted Nedzu about it, his suspicion was conformed.
All previous Tactical Support in Japan were either killed or otherwise taken out around seven or six years ago. And both the PHSC and the National Public Safety Commission swept it under the rug, meaning either there was someone behind it that the government feared or the government itself was involved. And even Nedzu's insistence that the ones responsible were no longer in the picture, Shouta had a bad feeling about it.
At least Nedzu agreed that Shouta should be the one teaching the heroic part of Midoriya's training so he could make sure that the boy could learn how to survive. That it gave him a leverage to use to teach his sister was a bonus even if it meant that he would have to butt heads with Majima.
Putting the thought aside for the moment, Souta redirected his attention towards the four powerhouses of the class.
Tokoyami Fumikage had a good handle on his Quirk called Dark Shadow, a very rare case of a sentient Quirk. According to his file it became weaker and more docile in bright light and stronger and more wild in the dark. So far there didn't seem to be any problems outright but sentient Quirks could be at times unpredictable. For example was it impossible to say what would happen if Tokoyami would come to harm. Would Dark Shadow fade, remain the same or would it loose control and start rampaging.
Bakugou Katsuki was brash, loud and aggressive. And most importantly driven with a good handle on his Quirk and pushing his limits as best as he could. He clearly to learn to reign his temper and his antagonistic stance but he had a lot potential and he could push others to do the same.
Todoroki Shoto, son of the Nr. 2 Hero Endeavor and together with Yaoyorozu was accepted on recommendation. The heterocromatic teen with the scar above his left eye was acting stoic and focused on his tasks, barely paying any attention to anyone except a few times towards the ones who could beat his scores. He had a good handle on his quirk when it came to create and control his ice but he didn't use the fire side of his Quirk. Based on his scar Shouta guessed that Todoroki didn't have the same amount of control over his fire or lacked the resistance and just opted to rely on his ice because of it.
And then there was Midoriya Kara.
And Shouta did not know what to make out of her...
Her file stated her Quirk to be a form of radiation transformation in that she absorb sunlight into a form of energy field that she can use for various powers. And since all her medical files were held by the S.T.A.R. Labs Hospital, one of the hospitals who still held a firmly to the doctor-patient relationship and would give out personal information on their patients only with enough cause and on a need to know basis even from Heroes with the PHSC backing them.
Shouta did respect that but it didn't make his job easier because there was no reliable data on what exactly Midoriya Kara could do and where her limits were except what he already saw and why she was holding back all the time.
Because that was at the crux of the problem Shouta had with her. And every reason Shouta could think about didn't seem to fit.
She wasn't holding back to spare her brother's feelings in a misguided sense of sympathy for his quirkless status like Shouta thought at first. Between tests she was repeatedly floating around Midoriya Izuku and the boy showed no signs off surprise or discomfort.
It wasn't that she had to watch that her power would harm her or that she had to ration her power. It would have been easy to assume, seeing that she only really used it during the Entrance Exam in the last moments but according to Recovery Girl she wasn't even sweating or showed even the tiniest sign of physical or mental exhaustion.
Which left only that she either had not the best control over her Quirk or arrogance.
But that wasn't the case either because while she was clearly holding back it was purposely and measured.
When Shouta threatened to expel her and her brother he was sure she would go all out. But instead she was waiting for everyone else to finish a test and then just doing enough to place first. Except for the ones where it would be even illogical to do that like the standing long jump where she just casually flew over the sandbox.
It was frustrating because she had the potential to be as powerful, if not even stronger, as All Might but if she wasn't taking things serious or refused to give it her all, then people would die regardless of her power. And more importantly, Shouta had to drive the lesson home that she couldn't just rely on her Quirk all the time. But for that lesson to stick Shouta needed her to fail when she was pushing it.
And for that he needed at least one test where a students would threatened her first place.
After the repeated sidesteps Uraraka provided him the chance during the ball throw when she removed the gravity from the ball and tossed it high into the air. Seeing that the ball wouldn't get down anytime soon, Shouta just gave her an infinite result, much to the surprise and excitement from the class. When Midoriya was stepping into the circle, Shouta stopped her.
"You can just give up now. I doubt you can beat infinite."
Midoriya Kara looked at Shouta with clear annoyance.
"How about you wait until you can be sure the ball can reach infinite? I can see that ball clearly from here."
"Doesn't matter... It doesn't get down, so it's an infinite." Shouta replied watching for her reaction.
"Eh... that might not be true..."
Shouta turned toward Midoriya Izuku, who just chimed in.
"I mean... there might be a limit how long Uraraka's Quirk works or ho far it works away from her..."
Shouta frowned.
"Are you trying to argue with me?"
The green haired boy shrunk a bit back under Shouta's gaze but actually held his ground.
"The test is supposed to figure out the limits of the Quirks, right? And depending how the Quirk works it might just take a while."
"If you insist..." Shouta rolled his eyes.
"Uraraka, tell us about your Quirk. How it works and any limits you know off."
"The brunette girl stepped for, unsure about the situation.
"My Quirk is called Zero Gravity. If i touch something with all five of my fingers i can make it weightless."
She held her hand up to show the small pads on her fingertips.
"I can release my Quirk when i press all my fingertips against each other. If i use it on my self or if the things i remove the gravity from are to heavy i get motion sickness."
"So, there is a weight limit?" Shout asked further.
"What about reach or duration. How long can your Quirk last?"
"I... i don't know to be honest..."
"Okay..." Shouta groaned.
"Then we count is as potentially indefinite until we know otherwise or she is forced to release her Quirk. Midoriya, if you throw the ball far enough that i can say it would be further than Uraraka's ball at the end of the week you'll pass."
The blond girl rolled her eyes.
"If that's all..."
She turned to throw the ball but was stopped by her brother who whispered something in her ear, causing her to look a bit puzzled.
"Are you sure?" She asked her brother.
"It's been years since we did that with Dr. Kamisato and even S.T.A.R. Lab's tech wasn't enough."
"I think he just wants you to go all out and honestly it's the only test you can do that safely."
Shota raised an eyebrow. What was that suppose to mean? As far as he could tell there were no risk to her Quirk and she had a good control. Regardless it did give Shouta finally the opportunity he was waiting for.
She nodded towards her brother and took her place in the circle, while Shouta prepared himself but instead to go into a stance to throw, Midoriya Kara looked around into the distance as if she was searching for something while the rest of the class was waiting for what would happen.
Shouta was about to ask what the problem was when she turned a bit to the side and finally took a stance ready to throw the ball and Shouta prepared himself.
She drew her arm back.
Shouta stared at her, ready to activate his Quirk.
She took a deep breath.
Shouta's eyes turned red as he activated Erasure to stop her Quirk.
Her arm shot forward.
And Shouta was nearly thrown of his feet by the sheer force of wind the ball cause as it vanished.
Shouta was stunned. His Quirk didn't work on her and the pure force of the ball moving alone was... Just what was her Quirk? The more he learned the less did her power make sense even in the age of Quirks. Finally Shouta looked at his phone, checking what distance the bal had made so far, because Shouta was sure it would still be in the air.
Connection lost
These two words made everything worse. The range U.A.'s system had with the tracker in the balls was at minimum 50 Kilometer. In just a few seconds the ball Midoriya Kara threw past that distance.
How was he suppose to teach her to be aware of her limits when he couldn't even push her to said limits? And what was worse he couldn't even transfer her to 1B. Because, as good Khan might be as a teacher, the placement of the of the students in the classes was based on which teacher could handle it best if the Quirk would go out off control in order to be able to push the students with a certain degree on safety.
And if Shouta's Erasure couldn't stop a power that everyone agreed had to be an emitter type, than Khan would not be able to even slow down the pure force Midoriya Kara just displayed.
"WHAT THE HELL, SUPERGIRL? HOW MUCH DID YOU HIDE THE ENTIRE TIME?" Bakugou yelled while dashing towards the blond girl and before Shouta could react Midoriya Izuku stepped between his sister and the furious blond.
"Kachan, please stop!"
"OUT OF THE WAY, DEKU!"
Bakugou prepared to unleash a explosion towards the green haired And Shouta activated Erasure while throwing out his his capture weapon, the carbon fiber woven binding holding wrapping around Bakugou's arm and torso.
"Bakugou, stand down." Shouta droned.
"That quirkless nerd is going to hide behind Supergirl anyways!" Bakugou barked and Shouta decided to make it a point to ignore the fact that said "quirkless nerd" did put himself between his sister and Bakugou, regardless how nervous he looked. Though Shouta couldn't tell if Midoriya was protecting his sister or Bakugou.
"I won't repeat myself..." Shouta growled and finally Bakugou let off, allowing for Shouta to retreat his capture weapon and turned off his Quirk.
"Right... I've seen enough," he addressed the class while fishing some eye drops to help with his dry eyes caused by his Quirk."
"At this point there is no logical point to go through with the last two tests. Midoriya!"
"Yes?"
"Not you, your brother!" Shouta replied while rolling his eyes before eyeing the green haired student.
"Knowing the Principal and his speeches, the Welcoming Ceremony should be coming to an end soon. Get changed and you should be able to make it to Orientation for the Support Course in time. As for the rest of you and the threat of expelling the one with the lowest score: I lied."
There was an uproar and Shouta waited until the students calmed down before he spoke further: "It was a logical ruse to force you to give it your all. Make no mistake though, if you fail to push yourself or fall short in U.A.'s expectation then i can and i will remove you from this course. You might think that being a Hero is all glamour but unlike other professions, if you fall short, people will have to pay the price. In the worst cas with their lives. Understood?"
Shouta let his gaze glide over the students, noting how Midoriya Izuku was allready wearing his regular uniform but more importantly the serious faces of the students.
Good, they took it serious.
"With that said, we are done for today. On your desks in the classroom should be your syllabus. otherwise you are free to use your time for the rest of the day like you see fit. I advise you to use that time to make yourself familiar with the school and it's facilities."
"So i take it, doing Orientation to explain things to us is illogical?"
Shouta eyed Midoriya Kara, who looked at him less than amused.
"It is better to let you try and figure things out for yourself first. Should you have any questions after that, then i will be answering them tomorrow. Assuming you at least try to figure things out fisrt. Dismissed!"
Shouta watched the students of 1A slowly leaving the field and making their way towards the changing rooms. Ashido, Ojiro, Sato and Sero starting talking to both Midoriyas while Uraraka and Iida were seemingly starting a conversation with Asui and Yaoyorozu.
Shouta also noted how both Bakugou and Minetta were stalking at the behind the rest of the class and both glaring at Midoriya Kara's back. Though Shouta had his suspicion that it was for two complete different reasons.
Waiting a few seconds after class 1A left the field, Shouta took a deep breath and made his way to the principal's office. He needed to discuss Midoriya Kara and her power with Nedzu.
Notes:
Again, sorry it took so long.
I hope i was able to convey Aizawa's reasoning halfway decently. While his methods are clearly not the nicest and wouldn't/shouldn't fly with any regular school, he does has a reason why he does what he does.
