Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: A Different Lense!

Summary:

A one-shot, experimental story showing two GX Duelists in an early morning duel!

Notes:

This is just an experimental one-shot detailing an idea that was on my mind lately as I look back on one of my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! Anime. Enjoy!

Work Text:

It was the dawn of the day in Duel Academia, located on a small island that’s many miles away from mainland Japan. On an empty field, two Duelists were standing a good distance from each other.

On one side, the female Duelist is known as Yuki Judai. She was a 15-year-old teenager with brown hair and brown eyes. Her hair is rather short, reaching above her shoulders, and has two long spike bangs on the side, and a white hair clip on the side with a pink flower. She wore the Osiris Red Duel Academia uniform for girls, but with a small dark-red jacket and black tights underneath her skirt, and red and gray shoes.

On the other side, a male Duelist by the name of Marufuji Shō, or Syrus by his close friends and family. He was the same age as Judai but is a bit shorter in height than her. His hair is blue and slick backward while wearing silver rectangular-framed glasses over his light gray eyes. He wore the Osiris Red Duel Academia for boys, but his jacket is a macaroon trench coat.

Both of them were having a bit of a stare-down before Syrus spoke the first words.

“Well, now Judai…are you ready for action?” He said with a smirk at the last part.

Judai smiled in return. “You know me Syrus, I never back down from a Duel!”

Then… the two of them grabbed their Decks from their Deck Box and inserted them into the slots of their respective Duel Disks.

“Let’s Duel!”

[Judai (4000) vs Sho (4000)]

But before we get to their duel, let’s have a bit of a recap.

[Before…]

“Oh crap! Oh crap! Oh crap! I’m going to be late! Luckily, I’ve got my Deck! I’ve got my gear! And I’ve got about 10 minutes to get the Duel Academia Entrance Exams before they start!” Judai said as she ran as if her life depended on it.

Unlike the current time, she wore casual clothing that is both feminine and masculine, consisting of a white and blue sailor shirt with an open gray coat worn over it, black shorts underneath a long blue skirt, and red and gray colored shoes.

“Oh well, since I’m not a student yet, they can’t throw me in detention for being late!” Judai quips to herself as she continues to run.

As Judai continues to run towards her destination, she often pardons herself when running past people to avoid being rude. However, she ended up tripping against a small crack on the floor and was about to fall to the ground, hard.

‘Oh crap’ Judai thought as she yelped upon her fate… if it wasn’t for someone managing to grab her by her waist to prevent her from tripping.

“Wha-” Judai was confused, but the warmth and strength of whoever wrapped their arms around her waist felt familiar until she heard his voice.

“Careful there Judai, you almost trip if I hadn’t caught you in time.”

‘That voice…’ Judai turned to see her savior and noticed him!

Syrus!” Judai proclaims with happiness as she easily gets out of his grasp and hugs him tightly, pressing her growing breasts against his chest.

Her savior is none other than her handsome best friend since when they were 10. He wore the standard gakuren uniform for Japanese middle school boys, but it was gray in color.

“Hai hai…it’s good to see you as well Judai.” Syrus greeted her and returned her hug.

Unbeknownst to Judai though, Syrus’ lighthearted expression became much more mischievous and he immediately moved his hands down and grasped Judai’s butt.

“Ah~” Judai moaned while Syrus brought his mouth over to her ear.

“And it’s also quite a while since we last met Judai~,” Syrus said in a low tone while tenderly licking her outer ear.

As much as Judai enjoyed the pleasurable treatment, especially since they both had already “done” it, she quickly broke apart from him.

“Syrus! That is so rude! Especially since we’ve been dating for nearly a year now!” Judai yelled in faux embarrassment. “In fact, you should treat me as the princess I am!”

“Princess?” Syrus snickered.

“Yes!” Judai whined.

“Well, in that case, you nearly trip and hurt yourself, dear lady,” Syrus said as he gave a mock bow.

“Hooohhh…” Judai fumed a bit before turning back to her usual persona. “Ah, forget it! Besides, we’ve had to hurry as we’re late!”

“Uh…it’s actually only an hour before the Entrance Exams start.” Syrus pointed out by showing Judai the time.

“Oh… it seems I wasn't as late as I thought…” Judai said sheepishly before gaining a bigger grin. “That means we got enough time to get there!”

Just as Judai turned to continue onward with Syrus in tow, she ended up bumping into someone hard and was pushed back by the force. Syrus once again caught her, but her deck ended up falling out of her Deck Box and scattered across the floor.

“Whoops! Sorry!” Judai gave a quick apology and started picking up her cards.

Syrus, on the other hand, recognizes the person who Judai crashed into…

…The King of Games himself, Muto Yugi.

“Huh…” Syrus started before Judai spoke up.

“Syrus, can you please help me instead of standing there!?”

“Uh… I would Judai, if I wasn’t so shocked by the appearance of the man you just bumped into.” Syrus replied.

“What do you mean- (gasp!)” Judai said until she looked upward and her eyes widened into saucers.

Yugi, however, only smiled at the duo before speaking in a slightly deep tone. “Sho-kun. Judai-kun. It’s been a while since we last saw each other have we?”

Judai stuttered a bit before slapping herself to regain sense. “Uh yes! We were just on our way to take the Entrance Exam to Duel Academia!” She said before quickly gathering the rest of her cards.

Yugi chuckled at Judai’s antics and took a card from his Deck Box. After Judai got all of her cards back into her Deck Box, she got up from the ground and made herself more presentable in order to properly greet the King of Games.

“Still, it-it-it’s such an honor to meet you again!” Judai said before giving a slight bow.

Yugi chuckled at this gesture before presenting her with the card he took out. “Why don’t you take this lucky card? Something tells me that not only does this belong to you, but it also wants to follow you anywhere you go.”

“Really?” Judai asked with sparkling eyes, only for Yugi to nod. Judai accepted the card with grace by using two of her hands and then Yugi turned to Syrus.

“I must say Sho-kun, you’ve grown quite well since I last saw you.” Yugi complimented.

“Ha ha! Thank you Yugi-san. I have been training hard in order to look more handsome than my older brother! A lot of people have been saying that I’ve got his looks now.” Syrus joked while rubbing the back of his head.

Yugi returned the laugh with Syrus. “Well if you keep this up, you’ll be having many girls eating out of the palm of your hand Sho-kun,” Yugi said as he then brought out a set of cards from his other pocket.

“Here, Jonouchi-kun wanted to send his best regards to you,” Yugi said as he presented Syrus with the set of cards.

“I see…” Syrus said before accepting the cards with the same polite gesture as Judai.

“Until we meet again,” Yugi said goodbye to the duo.

Both Judai and Syrus gave their own goodbyes as well, with Judai saying that she made him proud while Syrus also wanted to not disappoint Yugi and Jonouchi as well, especially the latter.

Yugi gave a thumbs-up to them and then walked away. Of course, not a couple of steps after distancing himself from the duo, a loud scream can be heard that causes him to lose his composure.

“EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!”

To Yugi’s ears, it sounded like a rabid fangirl that he had an unfortunate time dealing with during his fame as the former Duel Champion. He looks around, only to see that there are no fangirls until a quick thought causes him to look backward at the duo not far from him, with Judai squealing as if she saw something cute.

“SYRUS! LOOK! ISN’T HE THE CUTEST THING TO SEEEEEE!?” Judai screams with joy to Syrus as she shoves the card into his face.

Syrus, on the other hand, can only plug his ears to prevent himself from going deaf from Judai’s screams. “Yes Judai, he’s very cute. Now come on, we have an Entrance Exam to pass.”

Syrus grabbed Judai by the wrist and he quickly ran while Judai kept pace.

Yugi kept his sights on the duo until they slowly became smaller, all while having a sweat drop for comical purposes. “Well…I suppose that’s Judai-kun for you. Always getting excited for the cutest of things along with a passion for dueling.” Yugi said as he then looked at the sky with a reminiscing look.

“Still…you and Sho-kun will face many obstacles in the coming three years.” Yugi vaguely said before continuing on his way to parts unknown.

[ Now… ]

After their brief reunion with the King of Games, both Judai and Syrus made it to the Entrance Exams and passed their respective Duels to gain admission to Duel Academia. To which Judai could still fondly remember like it was yesterday.

Syrus made a very big impression during his exam Duel with the Duel Proctor using a higher-tier Deck. Despite the Duel Proctor busting out high ATK monsters using Monster Reborn and Ancient Rules, on the third turn, Syrus decimated his opponent in an OTK by using a card combo involving Power Bond and Limiter Removal on Pair Cycroid.

Judai on the other hand, duels against Chronos de Medici, the headmaster of the Obelisk Blue Dorm. The Duel went on similar to canon but with a few additional cards used by both Duelists. Similar to Syrus’ Duel, Judai also made a good impression by beating Chronos despite the latter using his personal Deck; including the rare Ancient Gear Golem.

Since then, both Syrus and Judai lived a semi-normal boarding school life during their time in Duel Academia; making friends, going to class, and keeping up grades (although Judai proves to be a poor student while Syrus gets full marks on all subjects), and having many interesting Duels.

As Syrus showcases his Dueling talents and skills, he garners quite a positive reputation in the academy, along with being the younger brother of Marufuji Ryo, known among the student body and staff as Kaiser Ryo. This earns him the nickname, König Sho, as he quickly becomes the unofficial representative of the Osiris Red Dorm and leads them to better themselves as Duelists.

Judai, on the other hand, also garnered a reputation due to her incredible luck and spontaneous duel style despite her low rank as an Osiris Red, and her being a beautiful girl is also a plus. Together with Syrus, she became known as the Osiris Queen, as it's also known that she and Syrus were in a romantic relationship.

Of course, while life was good for them in the Academia, that’s without getting into the shenanigans that a certain Obelisk Blue professor had done out of a grudge for being embarrassed by Judai in a Duel and being disrespected in the classroom by her, along with a brief encounter with the supernatural in the old, abandoned Obelisk Blue Dorm.

But that would be going into too much detail, since now…let’s get this Duel on the road!

[Turn 1: Sho, LP: 4000, Hand: 5, Deck: 35]

“As we agreed before the Duel, I’ll take the first move!” Syrus said as he drew his card.

"Let's start off with something simple. I set a monster and four cards in my Spell/Trap Zone."

Five larger versions of the cards manifested on the field in front of Syrus thanks to the solid vision.

“Turn End.” Syrus finished.

[Turn 1 ended: Sho, LP: 4000, Hand: 1, Deck: 34]

[Turn 2: Judai, LP: 4000, Hand: 5, Deck: 35]

“It’s my turn now Syrus, draw!” Judai declared and drew her card with much more flair.

Looking over her hand, she gained a smile at what cards to start: Wroughtweiler, Elemental HERO Avian, Elemental HERO Bubbleman, Insurance, Hero Barrier, and Polymerization.

‘So far, so good!’ Judai then made her first move.

“OK, I’ve got a very good start! First off, I’ll normal summon Elemental HERO Bubbleman in defense mode!” Judai said as she placed the monster card in her middle Monster Zone.

Manifesting onto the field is a man wearing a blue high-tech costume with a water cannon on his arm. He crouches with his arms in a guard to show the battle position he’s currently in.

[Elemental HERO Bubbleman (WATER, LV 4, Warrior / Effect, DEF 1200 / ATK 800)]

[Effect: When this is the only card in your hand, you can treat this card's Summon as a Special Summon. When it is Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned, or Special Summoned, if there are no other cards on your side of the field, draw 2 cards from your Deck.]

“Since he’s the only one in my field, I activate his effect to draw two cards!” Judai explained as she drew her additional cards.

“Thank you for that Judai, for now I can do this,” Syrus said as he pressed the button to activate one of his set cards. “Reverse card open, Appropriate!”

This action causes one of his set cards on the field to move upright and reveal itself to Judai.

[Appropriate (Continuous Trap Card)]

[Effect: Activate only when your opponent draws a card(s) outside of either Draw Phase. After that, each time your opponent draws a card(s) outside of either Draw Phase, immediately draw 2 cards.]

“Now every time you draw cards outside of the Draw Phase, I can immediately draw two cards from my deck,” Syrus explained.

‘Uh oh, that could be a problem down the line, but regardless, I shouldn’t worry for now as I know I got the pieces together..’

“I activate the spell card, Polymerization!” Judai declared.

A portal manifested from above Judai resembles the art of the spell card that she activated.

[Polymerization (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: Send Fusion Material Monsters that are listed on a Fusion Monster Card from your hand or your side of the field to the Graveyard, and Special Summon that Fusion Monster from your Fusion Deck.]

“I’ll be fusing Bubbleman on my field and Avian from my hand to fusion summon Elemental HERO Mariner!”

The two monsters that serve as Fusion Materials flew into the portal above Judai and merged inside of it. Then came the birth of a new hero with green skin, a mask with a red lens, and two anchor-like devices with chains around his forearms.

[Elemental HERO Mariner (WATER, LV 5, Warrior / Fusion / Effect, ATK 1400 / DEF 1000)]

[Fusion Materials: “Elemental HERO Bubbleman” + "Elemental HERO Avian"]

[Effect: Must be Fusion Summoned. While you have any Set card(s) in your Spell & Trap Zone, this card can attack your opponent directly.]

“Now his effect comes in handy! By having any set cards in my Spell/Trap Zones, I can have him attack your life points directly.” Judai said as she set three cards.

“Go! Attack Syrus directly with Anchor Knuckle !” She commanded.

Mariner leaped into the air and unleashed his attack by swinging his arms, causing the anchors to fly at Syrus and hit him dead in the chest.

[Sho, LP: 4000 ~ 2600]

However, Syrus remained unfazed by the attack due to experiencing so many Duels in his life.

“Turn End.” Judai finished, but Syrus had a trick up his sleeve.

“During your End Phase, I’ll be activating my other two facedowns.” Syrus presses two buttons to activate them. “Two Reckless Greeds!”

[Reckless Greed (Normal Trap Card)]

[Effect: Draw 2 cards and skip your next 2 Draw Phases.]

[Reckless Greed (Normal Trap Card)]

[Effect: Draw 2 cards and skip your next 2 Draw Phases.]

“This will allow me to draw 4 cards,” he said by doing that, “but my next two Draw Phases are skipped.”

[Turn 2 ended: Judai, LP: 4000, Hand: 2, Deck: 32]

“Are you sure about doing that, Syrus? Because if you run out of cards to use before two turns are up, then you’ll be at a disadvantage.” Judai asked as she could never really understand Syrus being willing to risk playing certain cards with obvious drawbacks despite having better options like Pot of Greed and Graceful Charity still legal in the current game.

“If I were you, Judai, I'd be more worried about drawing additional cards outside the Draw Phase so it won’t trigger my continuous trap card,” Syrus replied.

[Turn 3: Sho, LP: 2600, Hand: 5, Deck: 30]

“Now it’s my turn. I can’t draw due to Reckless Greed’s effect, but I won’t be needing to do that. First off, I’ll be revealing my set monster as Gyroid.”

Syrus flipped the card into face-up attack mode, causing the set monster to reveal itself as a blue cartoonish-looking helicopter creature.

[Gyroid (WIND, LV 3, Machine / Effect, ATK 1000 / DEF 1000)]

[Effect: The first time this card would be destroyed by battle each turn, it is not destroyed.]

“Then, I’ll activate Fissure!”

[Fissure (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: Destroy the 1 face-up monster your opponent controls that has the lowest ATK (your choice, if tied).]

“Allowing me to destroy one face-up monster you control that has the lowest ATK, and since Mariner is the only one you control, it’s a foregone conclusion,” Syrus explained.

The ground opened from below Elemental HERO Mariner and he fell right in and disappeared forever.

“Uh oh,” Judai said as she was now wide open.

“Next, I’ll normal summon Steamroid to the field!”

Manifesting next to Gyroid is another cartoonish vehicle-like monster, but of a steam locomotive instead.

[Steamroid (EARTH, LV 4, Machine / Effect, ATK 1800 / DEF 1800)]

[Effect: If this card attacks an opponent's monster, this card gains 500 ATK during the Damage Step only. If this card is attacked by an opponent's monster, this card loses 500 ATK during the Damage Step only.]

“I’ll move to my Battle Phase and have Steamroid attack you directly!” Syrus declared, and Steamroid obeyed by going “full steam ahead” at Judai.

“Reverse card open, Negate Attack!”

[Negate Attack (Counter Trap Card)]

[Effect: When an opponent's monster declares an attack: Target the attacking monster; negate the attack, then end the Battle Phase.]

“This will negate Steamroid’s attack and end the Battle Phase!” Judai declared, as a portal manifest in front of her just Steamroid came close, causing it to go inside and reappear back on Syrus’ field.

“You may have saved yourself there, Judai. But your luck will run out soon. I’ll set a card during my Main Phase 2. Turn End.”

[Turn 3: Sho, LP: 2600, Hand: 2, Deck: 30]

[Turn 4: Judai, LP: 4000, Hand: 2, Deck: 32]

“It’s my turn, draw!” Judai declared as she drew her card.

“I’ll activate Pot of Greed!”

[Pot of Greed (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: Draw two cards.]

“Meaning that I can draw two cards!” Judai said as she drew two more cards from her deck.

“Since you drew outside your Draw Phase, I can draw two cards.” Syrus pointed out as he drew his cards thanks to Appropriate’s card effect.

“That’s no biggie, for I’ll activate Fusion Recovery!”

[Fusion Recovery (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: Target 1 "Polymerization" in your GY, and 1 monster in your GY that was used as material for a Fusion Summon; add them to your hand.]

“This will allow me to bring back Polymerization and Elemental HERO Avian to my hand!” Judai declared as the cards popped out of the graveyard zone of her Duel Disk.

“Here comes another fusion monster, Syrus!” Judai said as she activated Polymerization again.

[Polymerization (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: Send Fusion Material Monsters that are listed on a Fusion Monster Card from your hand or your side of the field to the Graveyard, and Special Summon that Fusion Monster from your Fusion Deck.]

“Fusing Elemental HERO Avian and Elemental HERO Burstinatrix to fusion summon Elemental HERO Flame Wingman!”

The two Elemental HEROs manifested in the air before swirling together to become the fusion monster himself, appearing as a tall, winged green man with a red dragon-head arm.

[Elemental HERO Flame Wingman (WIND, LV 6, Warrior / Fusion / Effect, ATK 2100 / DEF 1200)]

[Fusion Materials: "Elemental HERO Avian" + "Elemental HERO Burstinatrix"]

[Effect: When this card destroys a monster by battle and sends it to the GY: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster in the GY.]

As Syrus witnesses Flame Wingman’s summoning, he smirks a bit. “Sorry Judai, but you aren’t going to get to my life points that easily! I’m going to take a page from Manjōme-san’s book by activating this card.” Syrus said as he pushed the button to activate his set card.

“Reverse card open, Chthonian Polymer!”

Similar to Manjōme's copy of the card, the trap card glitches a bit before it emits a visible, dark purple aura.

[Chthonian Polymer (Normal Trap Card)]

[Effect: Activate only when your opponent Fusion Summons a Fusion Monster. Tribute 1 monster to take control of that Fusion Monster.]

“That card again!?” Judai gasped as she didn’t foresee that Syrus would use a card like that.

“Fusion Monsters can be fun to summon Judai, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be countered. Which is a big weakness for the HERO archetype.” Syrus said as he wagged his finger at her.

Syrus offered Steamroid as the sacrifice for his trap card’s effect, causing the latter to be engulfed by fire. Then, Elemental HERO Flame Wingman turned into light and pulled inside the trap card, causing a fiery portal to open up on Syrus’ field. Rising out of it is Flame Wingman, but he has a darker color scheme and looks much more feral as well.

Despite losing one of her best fusion monsters, Judai felt undaunted. If anything, she only feels the thrill of the Duels rising steadily in her blood. “Heh, regardless of what you did Syrus, I can only get more excited on how to overcome this! Since I don't have a normal summon yet, I’ll be summoning Wroughtweiler in defense mode.”

Unlike Judai’s previous summoning of Warrior-type monsters, Wroughtweiler is a robotic dog.

[Wroughtweiler (EARTH, LV 3, Machine / Effect, DEF 1200 / ATK 800)]

[Effect: When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, add 1 "Elemental Hero" card and 1 "Polymerization" from your Graveyard to your hand.]

“Then, I’ll set a card. Turn End.”

[Turn 4 ended: Judai, LP: 4000, Hand: 0, Deck: 29]

[Turn 5: Sho, LP: 2600, Hand: 4, Deck: 28]

“I still can’t draw due to Reckless Greed, but it’s a good thing I got this card,” Syrus said as he activated his own Pot of Greed.

[Pot of Greed (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: Draw two cards.]

“Get ready for this one Judai, for you’re not the only one who can do fusion summoning! I’ll activate my own Polymerization!

A similar portal manifested from above Syrus and he brought his arms outward as if to offer a sacrifice.

[Polymerization (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: Send Fusion Material Monsters that are listed on a Fusion Monster Card from your hand or your side of the field to the Graveyard, and Special Summon that Fusion Monster from your Fusion Deck.]

“I’ll be fusing my Drillroid, my Submarineroid, and a Beastking of the Swamps being a fusion substitute for “Steamroid”, to fusion summon Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drill!”

The selected Fusion Materials manifested in the air and combined together to form a huge cartoonish vehicle-like monster with a huge drill in front.

[Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drill (EARTH, LV 8, Machine / Fusion, ATK 3000 / DEF 2000)]

[Fusion Materials: "Steamroid" + "Drillroid" + "Submarineroid"]

[Effect: A Fusion Summon of this card can only be done with the above Fusion Materials. If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage.]

“Now with this card, you’ll be taking damage even if you put your monsters in defense mode!” Syrus said as he outstretched his arm. “Go!”

Jumbo Drill starts spinning its huge drill and accelerates towards Wroughtweiler. Jumbo Drill’s drill pierces through Wroughtweiler, causing the latter to shatter into pieces.

[Judai, LP: 4000 ~ 2800]

“Now here comes the comeback! Reverse card open, Hero Signal!”

[Hero Signal (Normal Trap Card)]

[Effect: When a monster you control is destroyed by battle and sent to the GY: Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Elemental HERO" monster from your hand or Deck.]

“By chaining this effect to Wroughtweiler, here’s how it’ll go down. First, I can special summon a Level 4 or lower “Elemental HERO” monster from either my hand or Deck if a monster I control is destroyed in battle.” Judai explained.

She searches her Deck and picks out the selected monster to summon. “So come out, Elemental HERO Stratos!”

Elemental HERO Stratos appeared to the field as a blue-skinned man clad with a visor mask and green armor, along with a jet pack containing two turbines on top.

[Elemental HERO Stratos (WIND, LV 4, Warrior / Effect, ATK 1800 / DEF 300)]

[Effect: When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can activate 1 of these effects.

  • Destroy Spells/Traps on the field, up to the number of "HERO" monsters you control, except this card.
  • Add 1 "HERO" monster from your Deck to your hand.]

“Elemental HERO Stratos effect activates! When he’s summoned to the field, I can add a “HERO” monster to my hand from my deck.” Judai explained as she searched her deck for “Elemental HERO Clayman”.

“Now Wroughtweiler’s effect resolves! I can add an “Elemental HERO” monster and a “Polymerization” back into my hand!” Judai declared as she took back Elemental HERO Bubbleman.

“Even so, your monster’s attack points are still weaker than Flame Wingman’s,” Syrus said as the controlled Elemental HERO Flame Wingman took his turn for an attack by leaping into the air before flying downward at Stratos.

“Sorry, but I won’t be losing the Duel that easily! Reverse card open, Hero Barrier!”

[Hero Barrier (Normal Trap Card)]

[Effect: Negate 1 attack from an opponent's monster. You must control a face-up "Elemental HERO" monster to resolve this effect.]

“Thanks to this card, Flame Wingman’s attack is negated thanks to Stratos on the field,” Judai explained.

The trap card shot out a vortex at the incoming Elemental HERO fusion monster and blew him back to Syrus’ field.

“Looks like you managed to survive this turn. But don’t let your guard down Judai, even with one card in my hand can make a big difference. During my Main Phase 2, I’ll activate the spell card, Roll of Fate!”

[Roll of Fate (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: Roll a six-sided die. Draw cards equal to the result, then remove an equal number of cards from the top of your Deck.]

“Isn’t that one of the cards used by Jonouchi?” Judai asked.

“Yes, and I’ll also put it to good use. By rolling a six-sided die, I can draw cards equal to the result. But in exchange, I have to send the same number of cards from the top of my Deck to the graveyard.” Syrus said before pulling out a spare dice.

He threw it across the field and it rolled through the grass for a couple of seconds before landing on the result.

“No way!” Judai said in surprise.

“You bet! That’s six extra cards for me to draw and six more to send to the graveyard!” Syrus said as he drew twelve cards and sent the latter half to the graveyard.

“I’m not out of the woods yet Judai, as things are going to be interesting soon.” Syrus declared as he set two cards in his Spell/Trap Zone.

“Turn End.”

[Turn 5 ended: Sho, LP: 2600, Hand: 4, Deck: 20]

[Turn 6: Judai, LP: 2800, Hand: 3, Deck: 27]

“It’s my turn again, draw!” Judai declared as she drew her card.

“Erm!” A distinctive voice called out.

Judai looked at what she drew and it was Winged Kuriboh. In addition, the Duel Spirit also appeared before her for communication.

“Looks like you're finally here, huh pal?” Judai asked with good nature.

“Erm!” Winged Kuriboh chirped.

“Yeah, I know I’m a bit pickled at the moment. Just wait a while before I can turn things around, ok?”

Winged Kuriboh nodded. “Erm!”

“Get ready Syrus! I activate Polymerization again! This time, I will fuse the Elemental HERO Clayman in my hand and the Elemental HERO Stratos on the field to fusion summon a monster used by Hibiki Kōyō-san , Elemental HERO Great Tornado!”

Elemental HERO Great Tornado manifested on the field as a tall robotic-looking man with green and yellow coloring, along with a cloak that flows from the surrounding winds he generates with his powers.

[Elemental HERO Great Tornado (WIND, LV 8, Warrior / Fusion / Effect, ATK 2800 / DEF 2200)]

[1 "Elemental HERO" monster + 1 WIND monster]

[Effect: Must be Fusion Summoned and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. If this card is Fusion Summoned: Halve the ATK and DEF of all face-up monsters your opponent currently controls.]

“You know what his effect does, Syrus! Once he’s brought to the field through fusion summoning, he can halve the ATK and DEF of all face-up monsters you currently control!” Judai explained.

Great Tornado raised his hand and shot forth a green, blistering gale force at Syrus’ monsters. Gyroid, Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drill, and the currently mind-controlled Elemental HERO Flame Wingman all felt their strength and power lowered dramatically.

[Gyroid (ATK 1000 - 500 / DEF 1000 ~ 500)]

[Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drill (ATK 3000 ~ 1500 / DEF 2000 ~ 1000)]

[Elemental HERO Flame Wingman (ATK 2100 ~ 1050 / DEF 1200 ~ 600)]

Judai then frowns as she doesn’t like what she has to do next. “While I may not be able to bring Flame Wingman back to my side, at least I can stop him from being on yours!” Judai declared as she directed Great Tornado to attack Elemental HERO Flame Wingman.

Great Tornado swung his arm to create a razor wind slash and it cut down the mind-controlled Flame Wingman in half before the latter shattered into pieces.

[Syrus, LP: 2600 ~ 850]

'Sorry Flame Wingman.' Judai mentally apologizes, with the spirit of Elemental HERO Flame Wingman nodding to show no hard feelings.

“Turn End.”

[Turn 6 ended: Judai, LP: 2800, Hand: 2, Deck: 26]

[Turn 7: Sho, LP: 850, Hand: 4, Deck: 20]

“Ok, two turns have passed since Reckless Greed’s effect, allowing me to draw again!” Syrus declared as he drew his card.

“I’ll switch both Gyroid and Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drill to defense mode,” Syrus said.

[Gyroid, Battle Position: Attack - Defense]

[Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drill, Battle Position: Attack - Defense]

"Card set,” Syrus said placing another facedown card in his Spell/Trap Zone.

“Turn End."

[Turn 7 ended: Sho, LP: 850, Hand: 4, Deck: 19]

[Turn 8: Judai, LP: 2800, Hand: 2, Deck: 26]

"My turn, draw!" Judai then smiled as she saw what she drew. “I’ll activate my own Pot of Greed!”

[Pot of Greed (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: Draw two cards.]

“Meaning that I can draw two cards!” Judai said as she drew two more cards from her deck.

“I hope you didn’t forget Judai, as Appropriate’s effect allows me to draw two cards as well,” Syrus said as he drew his cards.

“Oh, I didn’t forget, Syrus! First, I'll normal summon Elemental HERO Sparkman."

Sparkman manifested on the field as a man wearing a skin-tight blue costume with yellow armor and having his entire face covered with a helmet.

[Elemental HERO Sparkman (LIGHT, LV 4, Warrior / Normal, ATK 1600 / DEF 1400]

[An Elemental HERO and a warrior of light who proficiently wields many kinds of armaments. His Static Shockwave cuts off the path of villainy.]

“Then, I’ll activate R - Righteous Justice!”

[R - Righteous Justice (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: Destroy Spells/Traps on the field equal to the number of "Elemental HERO" cards you control.]

“Now I can destroy any number of Spells/Traps on the field equal to the number of “Elemental HERO” monsters I control! So I’ll be destroying your Appropriate and the middle facedown!” Judai explained and then pointed to the selected cards to destroy.

The middle set card on Syrus’ field is revealed to be Supercharge before it and Appropriate shattered into pieces from R - Righteous Justice’s effect.

“Oh well, at least it was fun while it lasted.” Syrus lamented in a joking manner.

"Battle! Sparkman will attack your Gyroid!"

The electric superhero shot forth lightning from his hand and it hit Gyroid. The machine groaned in discomfort but endured the attack without getting destroyed.

"Due to its effect, Gyroid can't be destroyed in battle once!" Syrus explained.

"That’s not a problem, as I’ll attack it once more with Elemental HERO Great Tornado!” Judai declared and Great Tornado shot a small cyclone blast at Gyroid, and this time, it was shattered into pieces.

“Nice one Jay, but that would also trigger one of my facedowns. Reverse card open, The Grave of Enkindling!”

[The Grave of Enkindling (Normal Trap Hole)]

[Effect: When a monster you control is destroyed by battle and sent to the GY: Each player targets 1 monster in their GY; each player Special Summons their monster in Defense Position, but those monsters cannot change their battle positions.]

“Another one of Manjōme-san’s cards?” Judai asked as this is the second card that Syrus used.

“Again Judai, just because someone uses a certain card doesn’t mean it’s exclusive to them. With this card’s effect, we can both special summon a monster of our choosing from our respective graveyards in defense mode, but the catch is that they cannot change their battle position.” Syrus said as two portals opened on each side of their field.

“I choose to bring back Gyroid!”

Rising out of the portal on Syrus’ side of the field is a blue cartoonish helicopter monster again.

[Gyroid (WIND, LV 3, Machine / Effect, DEF 1000 / ATK 1000)]

[Effect: The first time this card would be destroyed by battle each turn, it is not destroyed.]

"In that case, I'll bring back Elemental HERO Stratos!" Judai said as the selected monster returned to the field for the second time.

[Elemental HERO Stratos (WIND, LV 4, Warrior / Effect, DEF 300 / ATK 1800)]

[Effect: When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can activate 1 of these effects.

  • Destroy Spells/Traps on the field, up to the number of "HERO" monsters you control, except this card.
  • Add 1 "HERO" monster from your Deck to your hand.]

"I'll activate the effect of Stratos the second time! This time, I will add Elemental HERO Blazeman to my hand!" Judai declares as she searches her Deck for the monster.

‘Good, now all I have to do is wait for another turn to turn things around.’

“Turn End.”

[Turn 8 ended: Judai, LP: 2800, Hand: 3, Deck: 22]

[Turn 9: Sho, LP: 850, Hand: 6, Deck: 17]

“It’s my turn again, draw!” Syrus declared as he drew his card.

“I’ll activate one of my facedowns, the Quick-Play Spell Card, Mystik Wok!”

As Syrus activated the card, the large cartoonish drill monster is then broken down into light particles.

[Mystik Wok (Quick-Play Spell Card)]

[Effect: Tribute 1 monster. Select either its ATK or DEF and gain that many Life Points.]

“By tributing Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drillroid, I can gain life points by either its ATK or DEF!” Syrus declared as the light particles rained down on him.

[Sho, LP: 850 - 2850]

“Not only that, but I’ll activate the spell card, Soul Release!”

[Soul Release (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: Select up to 5 cards from the Graveyard(s) and remove them from play.]

“By selecting up to 5 cards in any graveyard, I can have them removed from the game,” Syrus explained.

“Oh no!” Judai exclaimed.

If there’s one weakness of the “Elemental HEROs” that Judai doesn’t like for the opponent to exploit, is her monsters being removed. Which would make it harder for her to summon out her fusions if there were no materials in the grave.

“Relax Judai. I’m not aiming for anything in your graveyard. Instead, I’ll be banishing four monsters in my own graveyard.” Syrus said as he took the monsters out of his Duel Disk and placed them in his jacket pocket.

For Judai, she can only predict what Syrus is about to do next. “Then that means…”

“You guess it right Judai. Now I can activate this spell card from my hand…” Syrus said as he took the card and flipped it around to show her. “...Dimension Fusion!”

[Dimension Fusion (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: Pay 2000 Life Points. Both players Special Summon as many of their removed from play monsters as possible.]

[Sho, LP: 2850 ~ 850]

“By paying up 2000 of my life points, both of us can special summon as many of our removed-from-play monsters as possible. Since you don’t have any monsters removed from play, it’ll only work for me.” Syrus said as he took out the four monster cards from his jacket pocket and placed them all in his Monster Zones.

“Return to the field; Steamroid, Drillroid, Submarineroid, and Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drill!” Syrus declared and the monsters manifested on the field again.

[Drillroid (EARTH, LV 4, Machine / Effect, ATK 1600 / DEF 1600)]

[Effect: Before damage calculation, if this card attacks a Defense Position monster: Destroy that monster.]

[Submarineroid (WATER, LV 4, Machine / Effect, ATK 800 / DEF 1800)]

[Effect: This card can attack your opponent directly, but when it does so using this effect, the battle damage inflicted to your opponent is the original ATK of this card. At the end of the Damage Step, if this card battled: You can change this card to Defense Position.]

“And finally, let’s give this card another chance to shine!” Syrus declared by taking the card from his hand and dramatically showing it to Judai. “POWER BOND!”

As Syrus activated one of his signature cards, a huge portal crackling with unstable energy manifested from above.

[Power Bond (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: This card's name is treated as "Polymerization". Send, from your hand or your side of the field to the Graveyard, Fusion Material Monsters that are listed on a Machine-Type Fusion Monster Card, and Special Summon that Fusion Monster from your Fusion Deck. The Special Summoned Fusion Monster's ATK is doubled. The player who controls this monster takes damage equal to its original ATK during the End Phase of their turn.]

“I’ll be fusing all five of my Machine-Type “roid” monsters to fusion summon… Barbaroid, the Ultimate Battle Machine!” Syrus declared.

All five of Syrus’ “roid” monsters floated into the air and gained an aura that correspond to their Attribute. Then, they’re sucked into the portal, causing an explosion of light that blinds Judai. After the light dies down, a gigantic machine with a red, purple, and pink color scheme appears from behind Syrus.

[Barbaroid, the Ultimate Battle Machine (EARTH, LV 12, Machine / Fusion / Effect, ATK 4000 / DEF 4000)]

[Fusion Materials: 5 Machine-Type "roid" monsters]

[Effect: This card can make a second attack during each Battle Phase. This card cannot attack your opponent directly. After damage calculation, if this card attacked an opponent's monster: Negate the effects of that monster (including in the Graveyard). If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle: Inflict 1000 damage to your opponent.]

“And thanks to Power Bond’s effect, Barbaroid’s original attack points become double!” Syrus declared and his fusion monster’s eye lens glowed brightly.

[Barbaroid, the Ultimate Battle Machine (ATK 4000 - 8000)]

Judai gazes upon Barbaroid due to its incredible power, as it rivals Ryo-san’s Power Bond-empowered Cyber End Dragon. ‘Syrus…if there’s any doubt of you of ever surpassing your older brother, then it’s all gone after this.’

With the inevitable coming her way, Judai can only smile and let Syrus commence the final attack.

“Barbaroid! Attack and destroy Judai’s Elemental HERO Great Tornado and end this Duel!” Syurus commanded with an outstretched hand.

Barbaroid obeyed and aimed its huge cannons at the selected target. It charges up a powerful laser blast and shoots it with a loud blast. Great Tornado conjures up a shield made of wind to defend himself against the laser blast, but ultimately, he gets engulfed by it and gets destroyed, with Elemental HERO Stratos following along as well.

[Judai, LP: 2800 ~ 0]

[Sho: WINNER]

“And that’s game!” Syrus playfully said by mimicking Judai’s signature gesture whenever she won, except that she said “Gotcha!” instead.

In response, Judai gave an amusing laugh at Syrus’ gesture while the holograms faded away. Afterward, the two of them approached each other and gave a customarily, reconcile handshake.

“That was a great Duel Sy! You really went further with the Roid cards on you.” Judai said.

“And you with the Elemental HEROs as well Jay. Hopefully, there’ll be more support for the HERO archetype in the future.” Syrus replied with a smile.

“Well, I think I’ll…” As Judai turned around a bit, Syrus pulled her close and gave her a kiss that lasted to 20 seconds.

When he was done, Syrus pulled his own lips away and smiled at her. “Can’t forget your morning kiss now, would we Jay?”

Judai’s face was a bit red from the affection shown to her, but overall, gave a nod to her best friend and…boyfriend…

‘Man, I still can’t believe that we’re in a relationship all this time…especially when we… did that …’ Judai’s face became red again as the thought of that one particular memory popped into her head.

Well… not one time…

“A-ha ha! Since it’s still early, I’m going for a walk before breakfast starts! S-see you in a bit Sy!” Judai stammered a bit before quickly going for a jog around the island.

“Yes…you go on and do that,” Syrus whispered as Judai made a great distance between herself and him.

Once Judai was gone and everybody else was still asleep, Syrus made a certain gesture with his right hand by putting his thumb and index in a pinch motioning them downward.

A strange holographic green screen popped up with a bell sound before Syrus’ eyes and it wasn’t generated by the solid vision. It listed the following;

“Oh Judai…sweet and pretty Judai…” Syrus said to himself with a strange smile, along with a look that suggested someone much older and experienced.

“The fun is only beginning…”

To Be Continued…Maybe…

Omake: Sho’s Entrance Exam

[DUEL!!!]

[Sho 4000 vs Duel Proctor 4000]

[Turn 1: Sho, LP: 4000, Hand: 5, Deck: 35]

"Since I'm the one being tested here, I get to make the first draw," Syrus said as he drew his card.

Looking over his hand, he gained a smile at what cards to start with: Gyroid, Call of the Haunted, Painful Choice, Reckless Greed, and Steamroid (x2).

"Let's start off with something simple. I set a monster and two cards in my Spell/Trap Zone."

A larger version of the cards manifested on the field in front of Syrus thanks to the solid vision. Despite growing up and getting used to Kaiba’s advanced holographic technology, Syrus could never stop being impressed by the solid vision.

“Then, I’ll activate Painful Choice!”

[Painful choice (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: Select 5 cards from your Deck and show them to your opponent. Your opponent selects 1 card among them. Add that card to your hand and discard the remaining cards to the Graveyard.]

“This will allow me to select five cards from my deck,” Syrus said as he took his deck out of the Duel Disk and looked over the 5 selected cards to take out. Afterward, he shuffles his deck and places it back into the Deck slot of his Duel Disk.

“Then, you get to pick out one of them to add to my hand while the rest of them go to the graveyard,” Syrus said as he held up the five selected cards for the Duel Proctor to look over.

The five selected cards manifested on the Duel Proctor’s side of the field; Drillroid, Submarineroid, Beastking of the Swamps (x2), and Stealthroid.

“You have an interesting selection of cards, Marufuji-san. Now, I’m well aware of what the “Roid” cards are and what they could do, so for this selection, I’ll have you keep Drillroid.” The Duel Proctor said. Syrus kept the Drillroid while discarding the rest into his graveyard.

"Thank you for that Proctor-san. Turn End." Syrus said by moving to the End Phase.

[Turn 1 ended: Sho, LP: 4000, Hand: 3, Deck: 29]

[Turn 2: Duel Proctor, LP: 4000, Hand: 5, Deck: 35]

“Starting off simple you say? Well, that would only get you so far in this duel.” He said as he placed his fingers on the top of his deck.

“My turn, draw!”

“First, I’ll be setting a card and then activating the spell card, Card Destruction!”

[Card Destruction (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: Both players discard as many cards as possible from their hands, then each player draws the same number of cards they discarded.]

“Thanks to this card, we’ll both be discarding all the cards in our current hand and then draw the same amount.” The Duel Proctor explained.

“Damn.” Syrus cursed silently. Since he had a good starting hand to work with at the moment.

He and Syrus inserted the cards into their respective graveyard and then drew the same amount from their decks.

“And now, I’ll activate the card I’ve set before Card Destruction, Monster Reborn!” He declared as the face-down card moved upright to reveal itself.

[Monster Reborn (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: Target 1 monster in either GY; Special Summon it.]

“The monster I’ll be bringing back is one of the discarded monsters, so say hello to Tri-Horn Dragon!”

A portal manifested in front of the man. Rising out of it is a blue dragon with a red underbelly with many distinct yellow horns on its head and body.

[Tri-Horn Dragon (DARK, LV 8, Dragon / Normal, ATK 2850 / DEF 2350)]

[An unworthy dragon with three sharp horns sprouting from its head.]

“If you believe that’s impressive, I’ve still got more to deliver!” The Duel Proctor declared by taking another card from his hand.

“I’ll be activating the spell card, Ancient Rules!”

[Ancient Rules (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: Special Summon 1 Level 5 or higher Normal Monster from your hand.]

“This allows me to special summon a Level 5 or higher normal monster from my hand… starting with this one. Come forth, Cosmo Queen!”

Manifesting on the field is a tall woman with purple skin and wearing black robes and a yellow witch’s hat with a unique design.

[Cosmo Queen (DARK, LV 8, Spellcaster / Normal, ATK 2800 / DEF 2450)]

[Queen of the galaxies and mistress of the stars.]

“But that’s not all! Since I have yet to normal summon a monster, I can bring this card out, Gene-Warped Warwolf!”

The third monster that appeared in the field was a white creature that could only be described as a hybrid between man and beast. He possesses four arms and red eyes that scream of feral power.

[Gene-Warped Warwolf (EARTH, LV 4, Beast-Warrior, ATK 2000 / DEF 100)]

[This warwolf was given incalculable strength through horrific genetic manipulation. Its gentle nature was completely wiped out, and it now lives only to unleash destruction.]

As Syrus could hear everyone around him being impressed by 3 monster summoning streak, he couldn’t help but laugh inwardly. But at the same time, given the time period, he found himself in upon reincarnating, summoning three monsters in a row is something of a rare sight. Especially when all three monsters are 2000 ATK and above.

“Now it’s time to battle! I’ll attack your set monster with Tri-Horn Dragon!” The Duel Proctor declared with an outstretched hand.

The dragon readied its attack by launching a fireball from its mouth. The set monster revealed itself as a blue cartoonish-looking helicopter creature.

[Gyroid (WIND, LV 3, Machine / Effect, DEF 1000 / ATK 1000)]

[Effect: The first time this card would be destroyed by battle each turn, it is not destroyed.]

“Due to the effect of Gyroid, it’s able to survive your Tri-Horn Dragon’s attack,” Syrus explained.

The fireball directly hit Gyroid, who was crossing its arms to protect itself from the attack.

“While that may be true Marufuji-san, my other monster will be able to destroy it.” The Duel Proctor said as he commanded Gene-Warped Warwolf to attack.

The Beast-Warrior ran across the field at blazing speeds. Once he got near Gyroid, he leaped into the air before unleashing devastating rapid fisticuffs with his four arms. Gyroid felt the damage of each blow to its mechanical body before the last punch shattered it to pieces, but Syrus remained unflinching from the destruction of his monster.

“Now you’re wide open for a direct attack! Go!” The Duel Proctor commanded his last monster, Cosmo Queen, to inflict direct damage to Syrus’ life points.

“Reverse card open! Call of the Haunted!” Syrus declared by activating one of his set cards.

[Call of the Haunted (Continuous Trap Card)]

[Effect: Activate this card by targeting 1 monster in your GY; Special Summon that target in Attack Position. When this card leaves the field, destroy that monster. When that monster is destroyed, destroy this card.]

“Thanks to this card, I can target one monster in my graveyard and special summon it back to my field in attack mode!” Syrus explained.

A portal manifested in front of him and the blue, cartoonish helicopter rose out of it.

“Even if you managed to do that, my Cosmo Queen is still capable of inflicting battle damage!” The Duel Proctor pointed out.

Cosmo Queen conjured a black orb of magic and flung it at the newly resurrected Gyroid. Gyroid tanked the attack like with Tri-Horn Dragon thanks to its effect. Syrus, on the other hand, doesn’t flinch from the massive amount of damage to his life points.

[Sho, LP: 4000 ~ 2200]

Seeing this reaction, the Duel Protctor was impressed by Syrus’ stoicism. “The fact that you didn’t flinch from that attack is quite impressive Marufuji-san. Not many beginning Duelists that I’ve seen and battled were capable of that.”

“As much as I appreciate the compliment, I must point out that as solid as these holograms are, they’re not truly capable of harming anyone. Plus, this isn’t my first duel, Proctor-san.”

“Since you had prior experience with this game, then there’s more to you than meets the eye kid. On my Main Phase 2, I’ll be setting my last card in my Spell/Trap Zones. Turn End.”

[Turn 2 ended: Duel Proctor, LP: 4000, Hand: 0, Deck: 29]

[Turn 3: Sho, LP: 2200, Hand: 3, Deck: 26]

“It’s my turn now, draw!” Syrus declared as he drew his card.

“In addition to that, I’ll activate my other set card, Reckless Greed!”

[Reckless Greed (Normal Trap Card)]

[Effect: Draw 2 cards and skip your next 2 Draw Phases.]

“In exchange for drawing an additional two cards, I have to skip my next two Draw Phases,” Syrus explains as he looks over what he drew. “But that won’t matter as I’ll be ending this duel… this turn !” He declared, to the surprise of everyone watching his test duel, except for Judai and Ryo.

“If I may ask, how do you think you can accomplish that? My entire field is filled with strong monsters while you only possess a single Gyroid on the field. Even if you do manage to bring out a stronger monster that could theoretically end this duel by wiping out my life points, the risk might not be worth it.” The Duel Proctor said by pointing out the potential flaw in Syrus’ declaration.

“We’ll see about that! As powerful as your field of monsters is, I’m going to be taking them down! I activate the Spell Card, Brain Control!”

[Brain Control (Normal Spell Card)]

[Effect: Pay 800 LP, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls that can be Normal Summoned/Set; take control of that target until the End Phase.]

“By paying up 800 of my own life points, I can target one face-up monster you control and bring it to my side of the field!” Syrus declared.

[Sho, LP: 2200 ~ 1400]

A giant brain manifested on the field and two hands came flying out and grabbed Cosmo Queen from the Duel Proctor’s side and brought her over to Syrus’ side of the field.

“Now that I have two monsters on the field, I’ll be sacrificing both Gyroid and your Cosmo Queen to bring out Armoroid!” Syrus declared as the two monsters broke down into light particles.

Armoroid has the appearance of a U.S. space shuttle that is capable of transforming into a bipedal form.

[Armoroid (EARTH, LV 8, Machine / Effect, ATK 2700 / DEF 2000)]

[Effect: If this card is Tribute Summoned by Tributing at least 1 "roid" monster: Removed from play all Spells and Traps on the field.]

“Armoroid’s effect activates! When it’s tribute summon to the field using at least 1 “roid” monster, I can banish all spells and trap cards on the field!” Syrus declared as Armoroid brought its arms up and pointed them both at Syrus’ now useless face-up Call of the Haunted and the Duel Proctor’s single face-down.

Armoroid shoots a laser beam at both cards, causing them to be removed from play. Much to the discontent of the Duel Proctor who now lost his face-down Mirror Force.

“Next, it’s time to bring out one of my fusions! I’ll activate the spell card, Power Bond!”

As Syrus activated the spell card, a giant portal manifested from behind him and it crackled with lightning.

“I’ll be fusing the two copies of Cycroid from my hand to fusion summon, Pair Cycroid!”

The two cartoonish bicycle-like monsters merge in the portal and come out as a single monster that resembles a cartoonish two-person bicycle.

[Pair Cycroid (EARTH, LV 5, Machine / Fusion / Effect, ATK 1600 / DEF 1200)]

[Fusion Material: 2 Machine monsters with the same name]

[Effect: This card can attack directly.]

“Thanks to Power Bond’s effect, my monster’s original attack points become double!”

[Pair Cycroid (ATK 1600 - 3200)]

“But why stop there?! Let’s go overkill while we’re at it! By activating my final Quick-Play Spell Card, Limiter Removal!” Syrus declared as he slammed the card into the slot of his Duel Disk.

[Limiter Removal (Quick-Play Spell Card)]

[Effect: Double the ATK of all Machine monsters you currently control, until the end of this turn. During the End Phase of this turn, destroy those monsters.]

“This will double the current attack points of all Machine-type monsters I control with the drawback of them being destroyed at the End Phase!”

Syrus' two monsters became supercharged by electricity provided by the spell card, with both of them gaining a visible aura that speaks of power alone.

[Armoroid (ATK 2800 - 5600)]

[Pair Cycroid (ATK 3200 - 6400)]

“Oh no!” The Duel Proctor shouted.

“This duel is over! Armoroid! Pair Cycroid! Destroy his monsters and the rest of his life points!” Syrus loudly commanded with an outstretched arm.

Pair Cycroid took the petal to the mettle by moving straight at the two monsters on the Duel Proctor’s side of the field at great speeds. Armoroid, it brought both arms together to form a futuristic-looking arm cannon and quickly charged up a golden laser beam and shot it at Pair Cycroid. Pair Cycroid was engulfed by the golden laser beam, which only made it more lethal for the incoming impact for the destruction of both Tri-Horn Dragon and Gene-Warped Warwolf. As Pair Cycroid made contact, the result ended with an explosion that was both loud and blinding to those watching the duel.

“UWAAAHHHH!!!” The Duel Proctor screams from the explosion as his life points have been drained away from the attack.

[Duel Proctor, LP: 4000 ~ 0]

[Sho: WINNER]
