Robin couldn't help his laughter but stopped once his mother side eyed him. She was still pretty mad about the finding another school thing.

Honestly he wasn't mad about having to go to another school. Its not like Robin had any friends there anyway. Nobody talked to him there and he didn't talk to anybody. 

Although it was kind of lame that he only had one friend, and that one friend was somebody who he met online out of all places.  

Maybe Robin would have been sad if things had gone differently in eighth grade...

But he didn't want to start thinking about that again so he decided to tune back into his Instagram messages with Griffin. 

Griffin Stagg was Robin's best friend, well only friend honestly. The two did not know each other in real life. They met on Instagram actually. 

Griffin followed him one day and Robin followed him back. It was a couple of days after when he finally interacted with the other boy.

Robin had posted on his story about the movie Insidious. Griffin replied and said he loved the movie and could talk about it for hours. 

And well, Robin could too.

So they ended up actually messaging for hours about the movie. After they finished Robin didn't expect any thing more but than Griffin messaged him the next day and he responded. 

The two ended up messaging everyday and Robin felt much happier than he did in a long time. Griffin actually made his freshman year last year way better with the texts they sent back and forth during school. Robin felt less lonely and it was nice actually having somebody to talk to. 

And of course, it probably wasn't smart to just talk to some rando online. Robin made sure to check Griffins account first. It definitely didn't give off the vibe of some creep older man trying to talk to him. He knew the boy was the same age as him. 

Also Griffin posted a lot of videos of him arguing with forth graders on roblox to his story. So that helped as well.

10 minutes later Robin was dressed and actually walking to the Grab n' Go. 

He felt like none of this is real, because how big of a coincidence is that? That your online best friend was actually down the street?

He walked up to the Grab n' Go and of course there were teens and kids everywhere. Robin stepped inside and looked around before spotting a short boy by the drinks who looked like Griffin. 

"Griff? Is that your short ass?" He called out as he approached.  

Griffin jumped and looked at Robin in surprise before rolling his eyes. "No fucking way you're calling me short when you're like 1 inch taller than me" 

"Nuh uh. I'm like 10 inches taller than you." 

Folding his arms, Griffin looked him up and down. "Yeah, like I said you're a inch taller than me maybe two. I never thought you would be this short. " 

Robin pushed him before giving Griffin a hug. "I can't believe we're meeting up right now. This is unreal. "

"We should have vlogged this for real. Do you know how many people would have ate this up?" Griffin responded with a grin. 

Opening the freezer, Robin grabbed a Sprite. "I can imagine the title now. Meeting my online friend IRL! We actually live by each other." 

"You won't believe what happens next!" 

They both laughed. Griffin grabbed a Fanta before they both moved to the candy. "I'll pay and then we could go outside." 

Robin gasped. "Sugar daddy era?" 

Griffin glared at him. "Nevermind. You don't deserve anything."

After getting their respective snacks, they both headed to the front. Robin looked over at the pinball machine that had that same blonde dude playing it. He wonders if the boy even leaves that thing. 

Griffin paid and then they went outside snd sat infront of the building. Robin opened his skittles when the other boy spoke. 

"You said your mom is considering my school right?" 

Robin nodded. "Sure. That and the other school. Said it was the ones she liked most."

"Ask her if you can go to Franklin! Then we can go to the same school." Griffin said excited. 

"I didn't even think about that. Podemos estar juntos!" Robin replied equally excited. 

"I don't know what you said but yeah!" 

Robin groaned. "I'm going to have to beg my mama. She'll probably see it as suspicious though." 

Griffin pointed at him. "Look Arellano I don't care what you have to do, just get into that school." 

"Now I'm not going to just to spite you." 

The two started arguing before laughing and talking again. Conversation flowed easily between them and Robin was having so much fun he didn't pay attention to the time. 

This is what Robin had before. And he missed it so much it hurts. A friend, one he could talk to and have fun with.

Chapter Text

For his second first day of school, Robin was nervous.

Not that nervous of course, if anybody fucked with him then he would just fuck them up. It was as simple as that. But he was a little nervous about the fact that he was going to be in a entire new environment with whole new people.

Robin has only been to one school before, so therefore he was always around the same teachers and the same kids. Everybody already knew him, but here he was basically a nobody. 

And it also didn’t help that he was starting school on a whole Thursday after school had started. Extra attention was gonna be on him and it would be even more obvious that he was a new kid. 

He could already imagine the introductions the teacher was going to force him to do.

Robin went back to flat-ironing his hair before stopping once his phone pinged. He grinned before sitting it down to pick up the phone. The only person it could be was Griffin.

Robin smiled as he sat his phone down and continued on his hair. He was glad he had Griffin. After their meet up, they exchanged numbers of course. Then after much begging and throwing off suspicion, he was able to convince his mom to send him to Griffins school. 

All it took was a call to the school, some paperwork, and transfers from his old school and Robin was good to go. 

“ROBIN, DATE PRISA. ESTAMOS A PUNTO DE IRNOS!” 

“OK MAMÁ, DAME UN SEGUNDO!” 

Robin quickly finished his hair, texted Griffin he was on his way, and then made his way out the door.

“And Robin no getting kicked out of this school. Alright? ¿Me oyes? Será mejor que no te metas en problemas.” 

Already eager to get out the car, Robin kept a hand on the door as his mother lectured him. He groaned once it kept getting longer and longer. “Mama can I please just go to school?”

She shook her head before leaning over and kissing his forehead. “De acuerdo. De acuerdo. Vayan. Te quiero.” 

Robin smiled. “Yo también te quiero.” 

Relieved to finally be out of the car, Robin stretched as he watched his mother pull off. He then pulled out his phone and turned towards the school. He was honestly surprised by how many kids were there.

Robin rolled his eyes and made his way inside the school, as soon as he stepped in he looked for Griffin and spotted him by the side of the fence. With a big grin, he ran over to the other boy and jumped on him. 

The boy screamed and they almost went tumbling down before Robin backed off. “You stupid whore!"

Robin busted out laughing and Griffin punched him in the shoulder. “You need to be stopped. I regret asking you to come here.”

“Without me you would be so lonely without my lovely presence.” Robin teased.

“Yeah, okay. I’m just gonna let you stay delusional.” Griffin said. “Anyways you need to come with me to the office. We have to be in the same classes.” 

And that’s when Robin let Griffin drag him throughout the school.

Just as Robin predicted, a lot of attention was on him the entire morning. He didn’t think he stood out that much but apparently he did because many people stared at him. Every teacher announced him as the new kid, and when they asked him to introduce himself the only thing he offered was his name. 

“I hate these teachers. Especially that math teacher.” Robin complained as he and Griffin walked side by side to the cafeteria.

Griffin nodded in agreement. “Oh my God yes, she is horrible. Why are all math teachers so mean and bitter?”

“Right? If you didn’t want to teach math to kids then don’t do it. It’s that easy.”

They made it into the lunch room and Robin was again taken off guard by the amount of students. “My school was never this full.” 

“That just means your school sucked ass.”

Robin rolled his eyes. “This one is hardly any better so let’s not do that shit.”  

The two kept walking and chatting, making their way to Griffins table he had by himself. The boy said he never sat with anybody and nobody sat with him for some reason either. It made Robin sad. How come nobody here wanted to find out just how much of a good and funny friend Griffin was?

Their little bubble was popped when some random dude bumped into Griffin and knocked him down. 

Robin quickly helped Griffin up off the ground turning to see where that jerk had went. Once he spotted him he ran up to the boy and tapped him on his shoulder.

“Um. Excuse me dude.”

The boy turned around and looked disgusted at the fact that Robin would even dare to breathe the same air as him. 

“What the fuck do you want?”

Robin folded his arms. “You bumped into my friend.”

“So? His faggot ass probably deserved it.”

By now, Robin realized that they were getting some attention. The tables in earshot had stopped what they were doing to pay attention to the two. He didn’t think he was gonna have the opportunity to show everybody that he wasn’t taking anyone’s shit this early but here it was and he definitely wasn’t going to turn it down. 

Robin dropped his backpack to the ground with a large thud. This caught more peoples attention and when the other boy realized this he began dropping his things. 

“You tryna fight?” He said angrily.

“No, I wanna dance obviously.” Robin replied sarcastically. This earned him a couple of laughs and this made the dude pretty mad because he ended up swinging at Robin. He missed of course though. The whole cafeteria was watching by now. People were standing and hoping for a fight. 

Robin grinned before landing a punch on the boy. He stumbled and Robin took this as a chance to do one of his signatures just to show off. A swift kick to the face. 

The boy dropped down and the rest of the cafeteria was shouting and cheering it on. Robin relished in the attention even when teachers eventually appeared and pulled him away.

Robin sat down on a seat in front of the principals office. He hummed as he waited for the unavoidable lecture. The one thing he wasn’t looking forward to though was the scolding he was gonna get from his mother. So much for not getting into trouble on the first day. 

After a couple of minutes, a teacher walked in and that blonde guy always playing the pinball machine was with her. The boy ended up sitting down across from him.

Robin continued humming and tried not to notice the other boy looking at him.

“Aren’t you the guy who fucking kicked Moose in the face?”

Moose? What kind of fucking name was Moose?

“Yeah? And what about it?” He said defensively. 

Blondie scoffed. “Calm your ass down I’m not about to defend that little bitches honor.” 

Robin blinked. “Oh.”

“I was trying to say that it was cool as fuck. I’ve never that shit before in a fight.” The boy explained. “I’m definitely trying that next fucking time.” 

With a grin, Robin responded. “Well thank you. It’s one of my signatures. Makes me look badass.” 

The blonde boy leaned back in his chair. “So what’s your story anyway. Why are you in this shit hole?" 

Robin shrugged. “I got expelled. I had one to many fights since 8th grade. Last one got me kicked out.” 

Blonde boy nodded. “Okay but why this dump?” 

“My best friend goes here.” Robin replied. “Hey what’s your name?” 

The boy didn’t respond for a good minute. “Vance Hopper.” 

Suddenly it clicked. “Oh shit the Vance Hopper who got arrested?” 

Vance blinked at him. “No, I’m the Vance who got arrested.” He deadpanned. 

Robin rolled his eyes. “Well I’m Robin Arellano.” 

“Cool.” 

The conversation ended after that and Robin went back to humming. He tried tapping his foot but then the secretary gave him the stink eye. Where the hell was this principal? 

Robin looked up when he heard footsteps. In walked a boy with a stack of papers in his hand.  Robin thought nothing of it and looked away. 

But then the boy spoke and Robin quickly looked back up. 

“Excuse me Miss Jones, I need to give you these papers.” 

There was no mistaking that voice, and now that he was actually looking at him there was no way he didn’t recognize him. 

It was Finney Blake, his ex best friend who he hasn’t seen since 8th grade. Standing right there in front of him.

Everything came back to him all at once. The day it happened, getting ignored, and the screaming and yelling at the end. The days after where the boy acted like he didn’t exist and when Robin thought he would run out of tears at some point. 

The hurt he felt when his only friend decided to drop him like it was nothing. 

Robin stood up quickly, not even realizing that he was tearing up, and practically ran right out of the room.
