Chapter Text

“Papá wake up! You said you would make us pancakes today!” Maria said in excitement, also jumping on her mother. “Mija you landed on my stomach!” Rudy clenched his stomach in slight pain, adding more wincing to sound more dramatic for the effect.

“Sorry Papá..” Maria murmured, indicating that she’s not really sorry, she just wanted her pancakes. Rudy laughed, already knowing her intentions. “Alright I’ll go make you guys some pancakes, can you wake up your hermano for me?” Rudy gently cupped his daughter’s face and squeezed her cute little cheeks in the process.”Yes Papá,” Maria smiled before hopping off the bed, practically running to their shared bedroom, on her way to wake up her brother.

Rudy had to get his family ready all alone since Alejandro is away on missions with the Vaqueros. He obviously didn’t want Alejandro to go back, especially when he gave birth to the twins.

Rudy tried to make Alejandro stay, he even begged him to. He didn’t want his mate and the father of his children going out on dangerous missions anymore. But alas, Alejandro decided to continue working with the Vaqueros. Alejandro said he wanted to make more money for them, even though Rudy basically knew what he meant behind those lies.

He knew Alejandro didn’t want to stop the chase, and the adrenaline rush he got. I mean there was some truth behind Alejandro’s words, because he always has said he doesn’t want to end up doing a boring old office job; He was bound to get it because he doesn’t have a college degree.

Rudy knew he was right, being with the Vaqueros does make a pretty decent amount of money, but he was still upset and hurt. Furious even. It’s not like Alejandro abandoned them completely, even though Rudy felt like he did.

Alejandro tried his best to visit as much as he could, mostly visiting on holidays and every few months if he could. The most he could stay there is four weeks; which is barely any time to be with your family and connect with them. He feels like he’s missing out on his kid’s memories, and Rudy keeps reminding Alejandro that he can always retire or quit his job.

Whenever Rudy usually says something like that, it almost always ends up in an argument and Alejandro doesn't want to talk about it anymore, always saying “I can’t extend my leave longer, mi amor” or possibly storming out the house which breaks Rudy’s heart.

Rudy winced at one of the memories, forgetting what he was supposed to be doing.

2 years ago.

Rudy was washing the dishes, it was much needed because the sink was overflowing. He decided to do the dishes because Alejandro just got back, he tried to argue with Rudy but failed. Alejandro was visiting for four weeks, the twins were only a couple of months old at the time.

Rudy was washing a plate, when he felt strong arms wrap around his waist, pulling him closer. “Mi amor,” Alejandro softly whispered in Rodolfo’s ear, nipping gently at his scent gland. Inhaling Rudy's scent always drove Alejandro in a frenzy. Rodolfo moaned softly, forgetting about the dishes and put his hands on the counter. He tilted his head to the side, allowing Alejandro to inhale his rosie-lemon scent even more, mixing with Alejandro’s sea breeze and driftwood scent.

“Ale…” Rodolfo let out a whimper, he really missed Alejandro, it was hard taking care of twins all by yourself for the first couple months of their life, or just all the time in general. Alejandro guided his hands under Rudy’s shirt, careful to not touch the long barely healed incision on Rudy’s stomach.

“Thank you cariño for giving us them, you’re the most beautiful man in the world.” Alejandro gently kissed Rudy’s neck, making him flush a bright red color. Rudy still can’t believe this was his life, or that they even had their own kids.

Rudy had to have an emergency cesarean surgery, the twins couldn’t come out on their own, Rudy was already in labor for a good twelve hours before having the surgery. Alejandro was present for their births, and just three short weeks afterwards. Rudy read multiple articles online about how it was hard to take care of your new baby when you had a c-section, and they could never have been more right. Rudy could barely move, often crying and wailing, wishing his mate was with him. It was harder because he had to take care of his two little pups on his own, but whenever he couldn’t he would make a phone call to his mother, asking or pleading for help. He felt guilty disturbing his mother at the earliest hours of the night, sometimes sobbing in her shoulders.

“Rodolfo, necesitas a Alejandro aquí contigo y tus cachorros. No deberías estar haciendo esto solo.” His mother's comments made him sob more, knowing that she was right. “I know mama, but we need the money and I’m fine!” Rudy replied back to his mother. “Rodolfo this isn’t fine, you need Alejandro here with you.” His mother pulled Rudy in a hug, careful enough to not hug him so tight. That finally made Rudy break down in tears, telling his mom about how he felt about this whole thing. She didn’t reply back, wanting to give her son some time to calm down, still holding him in her arms.

Moving away from his thoughts, Rudy felt Alejandro shift his body to kiss him deeply, holding the back of his head. Rudy moaned into the kiss, feeling Alejandro’s hands roaming up and down his sides. Alejandro bit down on Rodolfo’s lip, groaning softly into his mouth. Alejandro sucked a certain spot on Rodolfo’s neck, knees almost buckling from the pleasure.

Rudy pulled away, looked Alejandro in the eyes and said “I missed you, Alpha.” Rudy missed how Alejandro would cuddle him to sleep, he missed his scent, and he missed his quality time with him. He looked up at Alejandro with a small smile, just admiring him.

“I missed you too, Mi Alma.” Alejandro released his breath, kissing his neck. Rudy’s breath hitched up, feeling Alejandro slowly grinding into him, almost releasing a moan but wanted to keep quiet so they wouldn’t wake up their pups. Alejandro’s hands slowly moving down to his mates hips.

“You know, you can always stay longer,” Rudy gave Alejandro a knowing look, pleading with him with his eyes. “You know I can’t stay longer amor.” Alejandro gripped a little bit harder on Rudy’s hips, clearly uncomfortable with this conversation. “No- I’m just saying maybe request a longer leave?” Rudy looked into his eyes with sadness and tiredness, his dark circles grew worse with each passing day.

“The longest leave I can get is four weeks, mi amor, I’m sorry-“

“No, I get it, it’s Alright.” Rudy felt frustration burn in his veins, making him more angry. He didn’t want to yell at Alejandro, knowing it’s not his fault he can’t take longer leaves. He felt as if Alejandro didn’t want him anymore, or if he was disgusted by the thought of just seeing him. Rudy has been mostly focusing on the pups, not really caring about his physical appearance anymore.

As if Rudy was blessed by the universe, one of their pups awoke crying, taking Rudy out of an awkward situation. “I’ll go get them..” Rudy quietly murmured, just wanting to leave that horrid conversation they have everytime Alejandro is on his leave.

“Rudy..I-” Alejandro wanted to say something, but Rudy cut him off the second he tried.

“I told you it’s alright Alejandro!” Rudy cut off Alejandro with a snarl, showing off his fangs. Clearly indicating he was upset. He only ever called Alejandro by his full name if he was upset with him.

Before Alejandro could say anything else, Rudy stormed down the hallway, only slowing down when he entered the baby nursery. It had two little cribs that are sometimes used because Rudy falls asleep with his pups in the bed quite often. Which is a habit he needs to break out of for their safety. He scooped up his son Izan, Rudy insisted on the name in fact because he knew that the name would fit his son.

Rudy checked his diaper to make sure that he didn’t have to change it, luckily he didn’t and he felt glad.

He had always gagged whenever he had to change their diapers.
He realized what the problem was, he figured it was because Izan was hungry, and he was right. Rudy pulled up his shirt gently, letting his son gently latch on for him to nurse. Rudy tried to calm down, but nothing seemed to work.

He wanted Alejandro to stay longer- No, he needed him to stay longer. It was important for the pups' health as well to get used to their fathers scent. With Alejandro always being gone, they could rarely ever smell his scent and when he did come over, they hardly recognized him, sometimes crying when Alejandro got near them. Rudy would sometimes put some clothing of Alejandro’s in their cribs so they could get used to his scent, hoping it would work.

Rudy heard a little soft coo, his son moving around in his arms. Rudy took this as a sign to put Izan back to sleep. Rudy gently placed Izan down in his crib, already closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep, putting a little blanket over his legs.

He would have to wake up Maria and Izan in a couple of hours for their feeding, but that was for later. Rudy made a quick glance to Maria to make sure she wasn’t awake, which glady she was sleeping. Rudy watched as she moved the tiniest bit in her sleep, and his heart instantly melted.

Rudy shed a few happy tears before getting up, deciding that he needed to do the laundry. He didn’t want Alejandro to do it, considering he just got back from base, and also knowing that Alejandro would possibly ruin the laundry as well. It needed to be done anyways, Rudy didn’t have time to do most of the chores because he spent most of his time with their pups.

Leaving the Nursery room, Rudy walked down the hallway to his and Alejandro’s room. He picked up the Laundry basket in the corner, eyeing around the room for dirty clothes. Rudy picked up a couple of shirts he wore from the past week, and a couple of blankets he’s been needing to wash from their nest.

Rudy decided he wanted to wash some of Alejandro’s clothes from his suitcase, because he knew that Alejandro likes it when his clothes smell like Rudy sometimes. Gently putting down the laundry basket next to him, he walked to Alejandro’s suitcase opening up, and instantly felt rage and despair.

Rudy smelt another sweet scent in Alejandro’s suitcase, from another Omega. The scent made Rudy go dizzy, wanting to throw up. The scent smelt like different types of candy melted together, mixed with hints of citrus. Rudy didn’t even know where the scent came from, attempting to rummage around the suitcase that supposedly held the contents of Alejandro’s clothes. Rudy finally found where the horrible scent came from a Blue lacy panty, the smell was stronger than ever when Rudy held it. He just stared at it for a while, wondering how he was supposed to act, or what he was to do with it. Rudy knew it definitely wasn’t his, he hasn’t been able to buy any, and it’s not like Alejandro was around for him to enjoy it too.

Rudy didn’t know how long he sat there just staring at it. He wanted to barge into the kitchen and yell at Alejandro, he wanted to scream and cry, he wanted to ask Alejandro how it even got in there in the first place.

The next moment happened so fast, he couldn’t even comprehend it. Rudy heard fast steps making its way towards their room, shoving the door open. He heard Alejandro’s voice speaking in a worried tone, but Rudy couldn’t hear him. All he heard was his own cries, wails of agony reaching all corners of their house. He almost stopped crying, because he didn’t want to wake their pups.

“Mi Sol, what happened?!” Alejandro wanted to know what happened to his mate, and what caused him to be this distressed. Rudy didn’t say anything and just kept wailing, and crying, looking at the panty, knowing that he wasn’t good enough for Alejandro.

Rudy broke out of his thoughts, remembering that he had to make breakfast for his pups. He swiftly got out of his nest, heading down the hall towards the kitchen. Rudy looked towards some of their family photos, his heart swelled, loving the memories. He passed by Maria and Izan playing with their toys, softly smiling.

”Buenos Dias, what would you kiddos like to eat?” Rudy sometimes gave them the decision on what they wanted to eat, because he loved the way their faces lit up when he did. They would always choose the same food when they could though. “Eggs an’ bacon pwease!” Izan looked up from the toys he was playing with, and gave Rudy the biggest puppy eyes. “And pancakes like yu’ said Papá!” Rudy almost forgot that Maria demanded pancakes last night during dinner.

Getting up from where they were sitting, Rudy finally went into the kitchen to start making breakfast. He got the ingredients out, thankful that his pups asked for a simple made breakfast. He wanted to add chocolate chips to the pancakes, because they have been extra behaved recently. Rudy got lost in his thoughts again, they were always the same ones. The memory of when he found another omegas lacy underwear in Alejandro’s suitcase.

Rudy hated getting those memories, it has been two years since then. He can still remember what exactly happened, the emotions he felt, how Alejandro looked. He tried his best to not remember, to not relive that moment because that was in the past. But it still hurt him to think about.

2 years ago.

“Rudy, answer me! What happened?!” Alejandro begged Rudy to answer him, but all he got was Wails of agony, that sounded so hurtful. Alejandro has never heard Rudy like this ever, Rudy was always happy around him. He didn’t know what had caused this. Rudy was struggling to breathe, choking on his own sobs. He was thinking, ‘How could Alejandro do this to me?’ Rudy didn’t know why he was reacting so badly, or this loudly. Maybe because he was still hormonal? Or was it just the thought of Alejandro possibly cheating on him?. Not wanting to know the answers, Rudy curled up in a ball, trying to hide away from this whole situation.

But Alejandro wasn’t letting up, wanting to know what happened. He wanted to sooth his mate, he didn’t like seeing his mate upset.

“Rodolfo, please, Mi amor!” Alejandro lifted Rudy’s head by gently moving his chin upwards. He saw the amount of raw emotions on Rudys’ face. The tears rolling down his cheeks, snot on his upper lip from the crying, his eyes and face red. Alejandro could even see the pain in Rudy’s eyes, he’s never seen before.

Alejandro looked deeply into his eyes, trying to get Rudy’s attention.

Rudy didn’t dare to look back, not wanting to see his Alpha. At the moment, he yearned for him, wanting Alejandro to confront him in any way possible, but he felt like he didn’t deserve it. Rudy felt unworthy of his Alpha, this other omega probably looked better than him, maybe younger, better personality. Wait- how could he be thinking these things about himself? What did he do for this to happen?

Nothing.

Absolutely nothing.

Rudy thought about it more, coming to the realization that this wasn’t his doing. It wasn’t his fault that Alejandro might’ve cheated on him. He was worth it, but clearly not enough for Alejandro in his eyes. He needed to stand his ground, Rudy wanted to show Alejandro that he wasn’t just going to let this happen.

“You-..you..pendejo!” Rudy got up on his feet causing Alejandro to get up as well, pushing on Alejandro’s shoulders, making him stumble backwards.

“How could you do this?!” Rudy shoved the lacy underwear into Alejandro’s hand, not taking his eyes off him now.

“How could you do this to me! To our pups, our family!” Rudy screamed like never before, wanting answers now. He started hitting Alejandro’s chest with his fists as hard as he could. He wanted Alejandro to feel how he felt at that moment. Alejandro let Rudy hit him.

Who would want their mate, and the father of their children cheating on them?

Rudy huffed, bringing his hands to his eyes, trying to wipe his own tears away. Even through the continuous whimpers, and sobs he let out.

“Rudy- Let me explain, I promise you it’s not what you think it is!” Alejandro slowly walked back to where Rudy was, holding his arms out to not seem as a threat. Throwing the lacy panty on the floor.

Rudy backed up a little bit, scared of what his Alpha is about to say.

“Are you leaving me Alejandro?” Rudy asked so softly, with his voice cracking. His sons reduced to silent tears running down his cheeks. He looked up into Alejandro’s widened eyes when he said that.

“Of course not Rudy! I love you, and I love this family,” Alejandro stopped right in front of Rudy, gently cupping his cheeks with his hands, wiping away his tears. Rudy had the biggest puppy eyes ever, and that’s what made Alejandro fall for him.

“I promise you, Mi amor. This omega has always been jealous of our relationship, and they would always try to talk to me inappropriately. I would never, EVER do something like this to you. I will always love you and our pups.” Alejandro stared into Rudy’s eyes, waiting for an answer. The silence was killing him.

“Am I not attractive a-anymore?” Rudy started to have doubts of his own appearance, he has been only focusing on their pups, wanting to make sure they are well fed and taken care of.

“Rudy, you have always been attractive. It took me all my will to not bend you over on the kitchen counter, and make love to you. You have the most precious eyes ever, which makes me fall in love with you all over again.” Alejandro said in such a deep love tone.

Rudy knew he couldn’t be mad at his Alpha for much longer, especially not after what he just said. Instead, he just wanted to sleep and cuddle with his lover.

“Okay, I believe you Mi amor. Can we cuddle please? I want to be held by you,” Rudy reached out for Alejandro’s hand, which he gladly took-heading towards their shared bed and nest.

They both entered the nest Rudy made, Alejandro wrapping Rudy in a warm embrace. His hands gently snug around his stomach and waist, still being careful of his barely healed scar.
Rudy finally relaxed, smelling Alejandro’s scent always relaxed him.

“I love you so much, Rodolfo.” Alejandro whispered in Rudy’s ear, who was almost asleep before he spoke.

“I love you too Alejandro.” Rudy whispered back, smiling before shutting his eyes again, and falling asleep in his Alpha's embrace.

-Present Time-

Rudy smelt the slight scent of burning, just now realizing that he’s burning the pancakes. He quickly stopped trying to be distracted, so he could cook breakfast. He really needed to break this habit of getting stuck in his thoughts, he needed to stay focused on the task at hand.

Making chocolate pancakes.

Rudy checked the time, seeing that it was 9:27 AM, he needed to hurry up a bit because it was about to be lunch soon, knowing that they had plans for lunch.

The kids don’t know it, but Alejandro told Rudy that he’ll be able to get a much longer leave, which was three months. They both wanted to surprise Maria and Izan, seeing how happy they would be when they told them the news.

Rudy quickly finished up on the chocolate pancakes, moving onto the eggs and bacon.
He can't wait till Alejandro came home, knowing he’ll stay longer than 4 weeks.

Rudy remembered when he would text Soap in distress, asking how Alejandro was doing during the missions he was on with them sometimes. He worried for him, just wanting Alejandro to come home safe.

Soap would always reassure Rudy that he was okay, and that Alejandro missed him. After hearing the news, Rudy would usually ask how he and Ghost were doing since they were a newly couple.

Rudy knew they both had been head over heels for each other, for the longest time and just recently confessed their attraction.

Soap said that they have been going as steady as they could be, considering they had a job where you could probably die at any given moment. Rudy hoped that they could make the relationship work out, because he has a bet with Gaz and if he loses, he has to give him $50.

Just now finishing with the eggs and bacon, Rudy started to cut the pancakes in small pieces for his pups, so they wouldn’t have any trouble eating them. Also breaking some of the bacon strips as well.

Making two plates for Maria and Izan, he quickly got two cups for their drinks, pouring orange juice into them. They were out of apple juice which was their favorite, so orange juice was the option for today.

Rudy finished up making their plates and his own too, he managed to carry all three plates, heading towards where his kids were at.

“Maria, Izan breakfast is ready!” Rudy placed down their plates on the dining table, not wanting to make a mess on the couches. Maria and Izan lifted their heads up from playing with their toys, and started running towards him.

“¡Gracias papá!” Maria instantly stuffed her mouth full of food, meaning she will definitely enjoy her food. Now that Rudy realizes it, Maria is exactly like Alejandro. She looks almost exactly like him, and acts like him too.

Izan is more quiet and reserved, just like himself. Rudy could also see more of his looks in Izan than Alejandro.

“T-Thank you papá” Izan stuttered, slowly digging into his own food, chewing with his mouth closed unlike Maria.

Rudy gently reminded her to close her mouth while eating, teaching her to have manners.

Rudy couldn't wait till Alejandro could come home soon, so he could surprise their pups. He just loved seeing them happy so much.

Hello! As you can probably tell I haven’t updated this story in a bit, but I promise you I’ll update it soon. It’s a bigger chapter and I’m currently writing the last part of it so expect it soon, and also if some of you are confused as to why Rudy doesn’t work in the story, he decided to basically be the stay at home dad to look after their kids while Alejandro still worked. (Alejandro also liked his job so that’s also why he still worked but mostly for money and helping people out)

And for you wondering how did Rudy give birth? He had a C-section but you were probably wondering what if he didn’t have a C-section and gave birth naturally? I didn’t think that far ahead while writing this story so I think probably out of his ass or something 😭 if I find a different way I’ll add it to the story lol

ANYWAY I’m so sorry for the wait! I haven’t given up on this story and for the people waiting it’ll be out soon. Thank you guys so much for reading this story and waiting ❤️

When the twins were done eating their breakfast, they sent a couple quick “Thank yous' ' thanking their papá for the meal again, before attempting to put their dishes in the sink. Rudy quickly ran over to them, snatching the plates from their hands before they could’ve possibly dropped them. He was happy that his pups tried to put up the plates, but he didn't want a ruckus to clean up, and instead offered to clean the plates for them.

(They completely forgot about the plates the moment they ran over to their playroom.) Rudy huffed a small laugh to himself at his kids' antics. They may be little still, but boy do they sure know how to make a mess. But Rudy doesn’t care about that, as long as his pups have a smile on their face at the end of the day, and plus– they help with their messes most of the time anyway, so he’s not complaining about that.

Now realizing how long it took for him to make breakfast, Rudy checked the time to make sure it’s almost lunch soon.

Rudy was correct It was almost lunch time, meaning Alejandro will be arriving from the base at any given moment. The three of them haven’t seen Alejandro in a few long months, and they dearly miss him. Rudy couldn’t form words to how he’s feeling at this moment, he’s finally seeing his mate after months!

Maybe he wanted to be away from you, he’s miserable when he’s with you.

He froze.

A cold feeling washed over Rudy’s body. It felt like rain cascading down a car on a cold rainy day. Rudy physically shivered, he shook the feeling off of his body to continue what he was doing. He picked up some miscellaneous stuff on the ground. He doesn’t think that this should be worrying, he’s been feeling like this for awhile. But the thoughts are kinda new though, he hasn’t had something like this happen since he was a kid himself.

The same voice whispered; Get lost in your thoughts, that’s how you handle things. You always have to run away. 

Then proceeded to echo away, not saying anything else other than that. Why did the voice sound oddly familiar?. Rudy continued on with cleaning small things throughout the living room, not thinking about those words again like he already forgot about them. (He never forgets these things, he forces himself to not think about it so that he’ll “feel better later”, it never works. God how he wished that Alejandro was here with him.)

He mourns how Alejandro used to be everywhere with him, and now it feels like the alpha is avoiding him. Maybe Alejandro is purposefully taking these longer missions to avoid his little family. Time feels slower for Rudy without Alejandro around, not to say that he hates being here with his pups– he loves them with his whole heart, and then some.

But he feels his heart pining for the love of his mate. Rudy longed to be like himself again, how he was before all of this. He was a Sergeant Major for Christ's sake. He still is that rank– but it doesn’t feel like it. Rudy feels guilty for feeling like this, because he’s stuck here with their pups while Alejandro left him and goes on dangerous missions. Rudy could never blame this on Alejandro or Maria and Izan, it’s not their fault for him being this upset over something. Why did Alejandro have to leave him? Maybe he’s overreacting.He misses Alejandro like no other. Rudy yearns for the alpha, his other half. He just hopes that Alejandro yearns for him too.

(He shouldn’t have to hope like this, like he’s in fear of Alejandro not loving him anymore. Oh how wrong can Rudy be?)

Rudy has calmed down for now, no longer in the mindset he was thirty-ish minutes ago. It’s slightly odd to the omega how fast he can calm himself down, he just went to his and Alejandro’s closet and smelled a shirt his mate left for him to calm down specifically. The shirt still has some calming pheromones left on it, because Rudy rarely uses it, for the smell to not go away, while Alejandro was away. Even though he didn’t verbally say his thoughts out loud, Rudy still feels guilty for thinking it. He loves his pups to death, and will do anything for them. Rudy loves spending time with them, and he wouldn’t change it for the world. Maybe once the pups are older he’ll go back to his job, but for now he’s content with staying in their home, creating happy, beautiful, memories and moments.

Rudy is thinking about having nest bonding time with Maria and Izan, as it’s close to their nap time soon. It’ll be even better once Alejandro arrives, the small family sleeping together again. All their scents mix together to create one massive scent that combines and compliments all their scents. They’ll definitely be having that later on, Rudy declared.

Some time has passed and Rudy has decided that everything looks clean and tidy, like how it usually is without the twins ransacking the place. Rudy sat down on their living room couch with a fairly loud sigh– not that he’s exhausted, but that he is restless. He needs something to do while waiting for Alejandro, or else he’ll go into a frenzy. Since they decided to surprise the twins, they weren’t beaming in excitement and nervousness like he was.

Maria and Izan miss how their father would read them to sleep, or help them if one of the two had a nightmare. Even if those were the normal actions of a father, they desperately wanted him to do it. Rudy would always do those things for them, but the twins always cried, saying “We want Dada!” making Rudy’s heart feel even more sorrowful, sometimes silently crying with them saying: “I miss him too, don’t worry my loves, he’ll come back soon.” He didn’t want his pups to worry about how he was doing, so Rudy never broke down in front of them. Their desperate cries for their father has stuck with Rudy for the past times Alejandro has been gone.

If anything, it’s very likely Rudy missed Alejandro the most. He and Alejandro would spend so much time together, considering they directly worked together as partners, and would always be next to each other. Additionally, having to sometimes rescue the others whenever they were on missions, makes Rudy fearful, yearning for Alejandro to come back, back to him. He knew what it was like to be out on missions and the dangers of being there as well, which makes it even more stressful having to sit back and relax, while his mate was out there risking his life for them.

They weren’t living in Las Almas anymore, Alejandro insisted on them moving more towards the countryside of Mexico, Rudy agreed for them to move, therefore Alejandro knew they were a little more safe. Or because the Alpha side of him couldn’t stand the thought of his mate being in a big city with possible dangerous Alphas. Which Rudy thought was the main reason why they had to move, but hey; the view and quietness was amazing. Alejandro being the person that he is, wanted to build their own house but Rudy said no, saying “We don’t have enough time to build the house or the money yet, and you’re leaving soon because your leave is almost up.” Alejandro didn’t say anything more, knowing Rudy was right. Rudy was also pregnant at the time, so Alejandro agreed as well, not willing to argue with his pregnant mate. Rudy was always smarter with their finances anyway.

Alejandro and Rudy bought their first house, not the dream they envisioned, but it managed. The house is very spacious, it has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a huge backyard with their very own little garden. When the night hit, the sunset shone down on their land, creating a beautiful scenery. Rudy still has some of the sunset and sunrise photos on his phone, he would often smile at them, reminding him that Alejandro would come home soon.

Speaking of Alejandro coming home soon, Rudy needed to get ready for his arrival. It’s not like it’s different from any other times, but he has always been nervous whenever Alejandro comes back, for some reason Rudy is slightly fearful the alpha wouldn’t like how the house looks while he’s been away for months. Then he calms himself down, because deep down the omega knows that Alejandro will like it, whether his mind keeps overthinking things or not. After that one day he’ll just let Alejandro do his chores around the house, no matter what, he will not let Alejandro slack around because he “just got back” no, that’s never a reason to not do your part for the household in Rudy’s eyes. Alejandro didn't mind though, and he loves cleaning personally. It helps calm him and lets his mind only focus on one thing at a time.

Straight after resting for a bit, Rudy immediately went to wash the previously used dishes, not wasting any time needing to quickly get it done. He began to rush a little, knowing Alejandro sent him a text saying he’ll be there in a bit, making Rudy nervous and excited. They haven’t seen Alejandro in months, and this time it’ll be a three month leave, meaning that Alejandro will stay around a little longer.

Every so often whenever Alejandro would come back for his leave, an old memory would resurface, not the good kind of memory; but the bad kind. It was never more than the one bad memory, and was always the one where Alejandro somehow had another omega’s lacy underwear in his suitcase. The memory still consumes him, he can’t seem to forget it. I mean who wouldn’t when you thought that your husband was cheating on you? Ever since then Rudy has been thinking that he wasn't worthy enough of a mate for Alejandro, even though Alejandro had proof that he didn’t actually cheat. It’s just something that messes with your mind, you know?.

Looking back on the argument Rudy has etched into his mind, he realized that he let Alejandro get away with the situation a little too easily. He probably should’ve let him sleep on the couch, but it’s not like he actually cheated. (As far as he knows) Rudy partially blamed it on biology, if he can recall correctly, Rudy remembered that Alejandro let out some calming pheromones, in an attempt to calm him down. It was a success though. They snuggled up for hours while holding their newly born pups, and Alejandro saying an alarming amount of praises and reassurances.

Damn you biology. Rudy cursed. You would think after thousands of years that little perk would go away, but alas, it didn't.

The pair never really talked about the situation again, even after two years.

(Maybe that’s why Rudy doesn’t feel worthy enough of Alejandro’s love, or a good enough mate. Alejandro didn’t talk about it either because he was scared of Rudy thinking different of him, or believing he actually cheated. If only they actually talked about it– they wouldn’t be feeling like this for a while.)

The time that he arrived on that leave— he didn’t smell any different, nothing odd or out of the ordinary. Rudy hoped that he’s right, that his mate didn’t cheat on him. He didn’t like accusing Alejandro of cheating on him, because it could turn badly for the both of them, it wasn’t even that Rudy was vocal about his displeasure since then, he doesn’t want Alejandro to know he’s been bothered about the situation from the start. Rudy knows it would be best to just forget it, but he can never seem too. He needs to talk to Alejandro about this, to clarify the issue. Like he’s been wanting too.

Rudy quickly got done with the dishes, deciding on what to do next. He usually keeps the house clean all the time now, as the pups are no longer newborns, along with the fact that he can actually move around now, and not be in pain twenty-four seven because of his c-section. The type of c-section Rudy got was an Low Transverse incision, leaving a pinkish scar in its wake. Rudy sometimes still is insecure of the big scar, but then he thinks about how it gave him his pups, which he is beyond thankful for. Alejandro would constantly calm Rudy about his insecurity, saying that he’ll always be beautiful, and thanking him for their pups. And that he’ll always care for his mate.

A small smile appears on Rudy’s face, re-imaging the wonderful memory. That certain memory helps Rudy in times where he's doubtful of being good enough. He soon realizes he no longer needs to do anything in the house, finally being able to relax. No intrusive thoughts echoing in his mind at the moment, which feels whimsical.

Rudy could hear Maria and Izan playing in their playroom down the hall, occasionally arguing about who got which toy. Without even needing to move, they solved their problem easily by sharing the toys, Rudy is able to hear because they stopped arguing. How they managed to stop arguing is beyond him– he never had to deal with sibling fights, as he was an only child.

Alejandro is used to it because he has an insanely huge family, it overwhelmed Rudy a lot before he got used to them. Rudy sometimes wished he wasn’t an only child, he didn’t enjoy the thought and feelings of being alone. Hence why he was devastated being alone for almost all his pregnancy, and even now. The feeling can’t subside, it festers inside of him, eating him up from the inside out. But Alejandro is staying longer, he’ll feel better right?

Right…?

(Rudy wishes Alejandro could stay forever.)

A couple of seconds pass in silence, until something happens.

Rudy felt a light vibration in his pocket. He suspects it’s mostly Alejandro, why wouldn’t it be? But maybe he did get a message saying a package was delivered or something– he often doesn’t remember what he buys. Or it could possibly be another spam call– who knows. Rudy sighed, he reached for his phone in his pocket, effectively taking it out to see it’s a new text message from Alejandro, he froze before opening it, attempting to calm down his nerves. Since when was he so nervous to text his mate?

Alejandro: open door pls hands r full, luv u rudy

When did Alejandro get here? How come I didn’t notice him driving in? Maybe he was wrong with the time, that could possibly be it. Rudy has a habit of not checking the time when he needs to. 

He really needs to get out of the habit of spacing out for so long. He just doesn’t know why he keeps doing it, but he has other important things to do than worry about himself.

Alejandro wouldn’t want this, want you. You’re damaged goods.

The voice from earlier whispered, sounding venomous and hurtful– but sounds in pain. The voice sounds very familiar, yet so far away. It echoes in the corners of Rudy’s mind, sending unpleasant shivers to his nerves. Rudy pinched his hand to focus on texting back Alejandro, he shouldn't pay attention to it, if he does then he'll be consumed in those thoughts again. Why is it so hard to text sometimes?

Rudy figured that Alejandro was waiting outside before texting to really sell that he could possibly be carrying something. He knows how Alejandro’s brain works, considering he’s known the alpha his whole life. Rudy smiles while teasing Alejandro through text, he can barely conceal his excitement in seeing his mate again, but a little teasing wouldn’t hurt.

Rudy: Then how are you texting right now? Open the door yourself, love you too Ale

He couldn’t help with adding the love you too part in. Rudy waited a couple of more seconds before barely feeling bad enough for making Alejandro wait at the door. Rudy got up, proceeding to walk towards the front door. It was mostly the fact that he couldn't contain his excitement anymore, and needed to see his husband right at that moment. It made Rudy even more ecstatic knowing Alejandro will be there for a longer leave as well.

(Rudy’s excitement made him completely forget about that voice in his head, saying he wasn’t good enough for Alejandro.)

He opened the door very slowly, trying to take the moment in, just for Alejandro to be looking down on his phone. Rudy kinda wanted to have a moment like those cheesy rom-coms where the lovers reunite after some time, but this’ll do. Rudy smiled to himself, admiring Alejandro in the doorway. 

“What a way to ruin the perfect moment, cariño” Rudy said, folding his arms and leaning on the doorway, having a new sense of ease for the first time in a while, finally seeing his mate safe. Alejandro looked up from his phone saying, “I was texting you back mi alma, i thought you were still inside” Alejandro felt warmth creeping up his face and neck, lightly blushing. Not because of the chilly cold air outside, but by seeing his beautiful omega.Alejandro dearly missed Rudy, having to be away from your mate because of a job was the worst. His heart was like drums beating inside of his chest.

Without giving a second thought, they both crashed into each other, hugging the other in a death grip hug. Alejandro made the first move to smash his lips against Rudy’s, receiving a low moan from his mate. He couldn’t believe this was happening, his world lit up again, clearer than it has ever been. His heart was racing, his hands were shaking in happiness. At this point Alejandro could probably feel how excited he was just by his heartbeat alone. And the way his hands were starting to sweat, but Rudy didn’t care.

Rudy gets to touch his mate again– Oh how he missed having his lips on Alejandro, the way he could feel each wrinkle on Alejandro’s face as he cups it with his face while kissing passionately. In his mind, he’s shouting in joy. Rudy feels whole again, Alejandro does too. They both can’t explain what’s going on in that moment, but it feels like their souls are re-connecting, just by seeing each other. They're reunited once again, intertwined by death grip hugs, and kisses full of love.

Chapter Text

Their teeth clanked against each other in earnest, tongues dancing and fighting for dominance, Alejandro winning not long after. Rudy smiled into the earth crushing kiss, not minding one bit how fast he accepted defeat. He’ll win next time.

They haven’t done anything physical in months, feeling like years for the both of them. It’s not like they haven’t seen each other in months, Rudy would call anytime Alejandro was available, and would text often. Always texting him about how their pups were doing, and how they all miss him and wishes he gets back as soon as possible. Even if it took the alpha hours to respond back, sometimes even weeks due to Alejandro being on a mission, the omega would always try and get ahold of him. 

Call him desperate or whatever– but he loves his mate, and couldn’t imagine a world without him in it. Rudy knows Alejandro can take care of himself while he’s out there doing dangerous, life threatening missions, but he wants to be by his side while he’s doing it. That way he knows that his mate is safe, and could protect him if need be. 

Rudy would often look back on their messages, and read them to ease his worries.

That was the only way for them to communicate was through phone or letter, leaving little for Rudy and Alejandro to do physically. It just wasn’t the same as having your mate right next to you. But– sometimes if they were in the mood, either Rudy or Alejandro would let the other know, often ending up in a scandalous phone call, with the camera on of course.

Rudy gripped his hands onto Alejandro’s shoulders attempting to sturdy himself. Doing the same, Alejandro’s hands landed on his lover's waist, securing them in a tight hold. Rudy huffed into the kiss, he knows how possessive his mate can get. Definitely not like he does the same thing. 

They were lost in the moment, only knowing that the other was in eye sight of them, and no longer had to be away from each other. They both knew that another house was miles away, so they wouldn’t have to be bothered about public indecency. Not that they really cared of course, but the both of them liked to be mindful of others. 

Alejandro broke out of their passionate embrace and kissing, replacing it with sucking and lightly nibbling on Rudy’s neck instead, purple like bruises appearing almost immediately. Once Alejandro felt like his claim was good enough, he went back to Rudy’s bruised red lips, being enticed by his mate's beauty. Alejandro felt the urge to bite their mating bite, but he wanted to wait for the right moment, instead of doing it outside. His omega deserved better than the cool outside, and plans to do it in the comfort of their own nest. Who wouldn’t it want at the right moment?

Rudy couldn’t wait any longer, he wanted it now.

But he didn’t have the heart to tell his mate, he wouldn’t want to force Alejandro to do it if he didn't want to.

 Alejandro felt like he truly never deserved Rudy for the reason that he was never good enough for him. He could never forget the heart wrenching sounds Rudy made when he thought his own mate cheated on him. Alejandro still doesn’t to this day forgive himself for something he didn’t even cause. He lives with the guilt for not even knowing how he couldn’t smell the jealous omega’s underwear. Alejandro wished he did better for Rudy.

As the days went on, Alejandro realized no matter where he went, that same omega followed. Soon after that, inappropriate remarks about themselves started to appear, and that just made him ignore them more. Alejandro didn’t even bother to ask for their name. He knows now that the Omega was jealous of Rudy, because Alejandro would always say he missed his mate, to literally anyone on base. ( The people he worked with the most can vouch for him .) 

But he never did anything at the start because he thought that if he didn’t pay any mind to them, it would all go away. 

It didn’t.

 The omega was set out on seducing Alejandro whenever he was on leave, the plan was to make Alejandro fall in love with them, so Alejandro could come crawling to their doorstep. The plan failed miserably, as Rudy found the lacy underwear and not Alejandro. Alejandro could never understand how the omega thought that their plan would work, it was foolish of them to think so. Mated pairs always have a higher rate of happy marriages, rather than unmated pairs.

Needless to say the moment Alejandro got back from his leave, he berated the other omega for their doings. He threatened them by taking their job away if they didn’t stop whatever they were doing, as you would expect; the omega backed down on trying to win Alejandro- but not without problems. They continued, still trying to make an effort for Alejandro’s love, that time Alejandro did take their job away, no longer having to deal with the worthless, evil omega. He gave the omega a chance for keeping their job, because Alejandro thought maybe they had financial problems.

Alejandro knew he should've suspected something like this, he noticed the omega always in his presence while working, never paying any attention to them. ( It was a new omega on the base, that’s why he felt off about them . He usually doesn’t like new people unless he can tell you’re good. ) The energy they gave off deterred Alejandro. Also the way their scent smelt, it was unsettling to Alejandro. Like nose wrinkling, and headache inducing. He eventually got used to the offender's scent, but out of necessity. If he didn’t get used to it, he couldn’t do his job correctly so he forced himself through it.

A sudden thought popped into Alejandro’s mind, like a light bulb turning on, causing him to pause in the middle of what he and Rudy were doing. Their scent. He had to get used to their scent in order to not get a headache, and to be able to do his job. A weight that felt like twenty pounds was just lifted off of his shoulders, that’s why he couldn’t smell their offendful underwear in his suitcase!

The alpha is leaping with joy, he now knows how all of this started. Christ, sometimes he wishes he wasn’t so oblivious to most social interactions that makes him uncomfortable, this could’ve been solved months ago. He needs to make it up to Rudy. He owed it to his mate, and the love of his life.

 Alejandro is afraid, what if Rudy doesn’t consider him his mate anymore? What if he doesn’t believe that’s what actually happened?

Alejandro eventually stopped pausing, and pinned Rudy up against the now closed door; the action caused Rudy to let out a startled noise, but showing little care for his mates' doings. “I’ve been waiting for this, regalito” 

Alejandro murmured against Rudy’s neck, causing Rudy to shiver against Alejandro’s hot breath. “Me too— Ale !” Rudy shrieked as Alejandro slipped his hands under his shirt, rubbing his now hardened nipples between his fingers. He wanted Rudy to be a sobbing mess once he was done, teasing them until they were sensitive nubs. Rudy’s chest grew sensitive during his pregnancy, and remained that way still two years later, giving Alejandro a clear advantage. Rudy couldn’t find it in himself to care when it felt so damn good.

“Be gentle— you know they are sensitive,” Rudy groaned, his mind almost going blank just from Alejandro teasing his nipples. Alejandro slowed down his pace, not wanting to over stimulate Rudy. Yet. His mouth found its way back on his omega’s neck, like it has a mind of its own.

Their minds were clouded with longing and desire, Alejandro stopped playing with Rudy’s nipples, now solely focused on his neck, his hands still roaming under Rudy’s shirt, nothing stopping them in that very heated moment. 

Your pups are all alone, they could be hurt, or anything worse.

Rudy’s heart stuttered. His breathing hitched a faster speed, he needed to simmer himself down. Repeating a mantra in his head:

Our pups are safe.

Our pups are safe. They are in the house, nothing is wrong.

Our pups are safe. They would call out loud enough for me to hear them.

Rudy felt his heartbeat slow down, no longer panicking. He has nothing to worry about, except a big mess that can be created by two rambunctious twins when they team up. 

But those same pups are very clumsy. The pups that were left alone in the house that have an insane imagination, and ability to ruin anything in their path, mostly Maria but Izan follows her everywhere. The pups that can possibly set a kitchen on fire by hitting their heads on the knobs that turn on the stove. ( It did genuinely happen, Rudy almost died of a heart attack. He called Alejandro and his mom for hours, worried if a fire would start. )

Now that made Rudy pull back. ( He didn’t really want to pull back, he’s wanted Alejandro for so long, but they have been outside for a little while .)

“A-Ale, we left Maria and Izan all alone—“ Rudy got cut off by another kiss on his neck, a whimper escaping his mouth, much to his attempt to hold it back. Alejandro looked down at Rudy with a devilish smirk, knowing only him can make Rudy like this. Rudy couldn’t tell if he loved or hated how Alejandro had control of his body, but in moments like these, he absolutely loved it. 

“Rudy, I think they can be left alone for five minutes,” Rudy gave Alejandro a look that said, ‘If you don’t listen to me, I will quite literally murder you.’ Not wanting to test his luck, Alejandro stopped his attack on Rudy’s neck, seeing his pronounced markings giving him a sense of pride. He hasn’t seen Maria or Izan in months, so he obviously had another reason to stop because he wanted to see them. 

“Y’know they’ve missed you Ale.” Rudy looked up with a sad smile, placing his hand on Alejandro’s chest before withdrawing it, opening the front door. Alejandro knew that their kids missed him greatly, it always hurt leaving them when his leave was over, that’s why he wanted to surprise them. The surprise being him coming “Unnoticed”, and tomorrow they’ll have the whole day with Alejandro, while Rudy sleeps at home. Alejandro hopes Rudy will come with, he can’t stand being away from him anymore.

They stepped inside the house after ages of being outside, panting and looking flushed. Rudy let out a sigh before turning to Alejandro, saying,

“Are you nervous or excited amor?” Rudy patted Alejandro on the lower back giving him reassurance. It helped Alejandro a little bit, knowing his mate was here with him as well. Alejandro feels guilty for being away. What kind of father and mate isn’t with their family? 

Fuck. I shouldn’t be this nervous over seeing my own pups. Am I nervous about seeing them, or am I nervous realizing they resent me after so long? The last thought felt like a stab to the heart for Alejandro. He loves his pups so dearly, he wouldn’t be able to handle it if they do resent him.

“Both mí corazón.” Alejandro muttered, shrugging his shoulders in an attempt to make him less nervous, making slow steps down the hallway to the pups playroom. They could hear distinct voices of Maria and Izan playing with their toys, in their own little world. Hearing this reminded Alejandro how he used to play with his siblings like this all the time when he was a pup.

They stopped right in front of the playroom door, Alejandro could smell both of his pups' scents, lightly blending in with one another. His little imaginary tail swinging left to right even faster. 

He often wondered if they ever forgot what his scent smelt like, it sometimes crossed his mind, he was barely around so maybe they could have possibly forgotten. If he ever does take up another mission after this, he’ll leave them with all of his clothes. He’ll just get new ones for himself.

Right before Alejandro was about to twist the doorknob, all talking stopped. Rudy and Alejandro could no longer hear what their pups were doing, which was a bit worrisome. Rudy knew they were both turning into little tricksters recently so it gave him a possible idea of what they were doing. ( He knew it was mostly Maria’s doing, she is a literal carbon copy of Alejandro. ) 

When pups are young, they have a stronger sense of hearing and smell due to biology. It was so if they were to get lost from their parents, they could potentially smell or hear their parents if they were still around, or out hunting somewhere, thousands of years ago. It’s basic science information if you paid attention during school. 

 Rudy knows that Alejandro has long forgotten that knowledge, because it usually lasts until a pup is four-six years old, and Alejandro has terrible memory when it comes to before he was eight years old. Most likely from getting hit on the head a lot from his siblings, or having never paid attention in science class. Who knows, maybe both caused the Alpha to have forgotten it.

Alejandro was confused about why it got quiet all of a sudden. His worry grew with each passing second, Did something bad happen? Did one of them get hur–

Next thing Alejandro sees is the door being slammed open into his face, causing him to be knocked over on the wooden floor. He groaned, feeling a sharp pain in his nose. Alejandro pressed his hand on his nose in case it was broken, he was pretty sure it wasn’t. If it was, it'll be something to worry about later, he’s about to see his pups for the first time in months. 

The universe just hates me, doesn’t it? Alejandro chuckled in thought. He could’ve said it outloud for all he knew, he did feel a little bit dazed for a second there.

He heard Rudy let out a small chuckle, trying to keep his laughter contained. The next thing Alejandro heard was two shocked little gasps right in front of him. He looked up, immediately seeing Maria and Izan with their mouths and eyes wide open, clearly stunned. Rudy was still quietly laughing behind Alejandro, more seconds passed before anything happened. 

Alejandro instantly shot up from the ground, about to say something about how he missed them and loved them, but getting cut off from excited shouts. 

He just can’t get a word out!

“Dada!” Both of his pups shrieked in excitement, interrupting Alejandro before jumping into his arms almost causing him to fall over again. They somehow maneuvered themselves to both fit in his arms. Alejandro had a death grip on them both, not wanting to let them go. He now knows the answer to his doubtfulness, no resentful person jumps on you with joy after seeing you. He shouldn’t have even worried about it.  

God, how he missed this. Being with his pups and smelling their scents always brought him joy, and seeing Rudy all the time, he always wondered how he managed to be away from them for such long periods of time. He thought about how Rudy probably had no time for himself just to relax. 

“We missed you Dada,” Izan spoke quietly, he was shaking with excitement from seeing his father. His hands were moving up and down, telling them that he’s very obviously happy. ( Oh how that warmed the Alpha’s heart. ) Alejandro felt like crying at that moment, he couldn’t lie. 

Maria was too happy to even respond just wanting to hug her father tighter, as if it’s the last hug she’ll ever receive. She never wanted to let him go.

“I missed you too, bebés.” Alejandro squeezed them both in a tight hug, not one where you would struggle to breathe, but one that would promise they would never leave. Alejandro scented both of them like crazy, causing Maria and Izan to giggle, smelling both of their scents for the first time in months. Maria and Ivan doing the same, instantly relaxing in the hold of their father’s arms. Letting out pleased and happy purrs.

Rudy was watching from behind, no longer laughing but a smile still present on his face. His heart felt warm and full with happiness. His eyes started to feel droopy, and a quick yawn later he decided for a nap. He didn’t want to leave them just yet, but he’s been excited all day, causing him to be tired early. 

An idea formed in his head: “Hey, why don’t you guys have some time to yourselves?” Rudy suggested, looking questionably at his mate. The three of them haven’t spent time alone with each other in months and now is the perfect time. 

Alejandro thought for a bit. He just got his mate back, he didn’t want him to leave now, or for Rudy to be alone while he and the pups bonded.

“You sure amor? I hate for you to be alone.” Alejandro responded, raising an eyebrow. His eyes looked slightly worried, still holding Maria and Izan in his arms. Rudy flushed a little, “I need a nap anyways Ale, watching these two are a handful.” Rudy said while lightly chuckling, Alejandro smiled wildly.

He made his way towards Alejandro and gave him a quick hug for assurance. Rudy could physically feel Alejandro melting into the hug. Rudy then gave two quick kisses on their pups heads, bidding them a goodbye for now. They both let out a quick goodbye as well. Alejandro quickly gave a small peck on Rudy’s lips while he was getting up to make the pups some lunch. He heard the protests of the kiss, hearing the disgust from Maria and Izan. 

“Nasty!” Maria giggled happily into Alejandro’s ear. He slightly flinched from the loud noise, but he couldn’t care less. He was happy to be home. The alpha could hear Izan quietly agreeing with his older sister.

Alejandro made a move to set Maria and Izan down for him to make them food, but they started to whine in a high pitched frequency. Cooking with two toddlers in his arms it is! 

( Alejandro sat them both down with a promise that he’ll give them cookies and milk for dessert. )

Rudy made his way down the hallway leading straight towards his and Alejandro’s room. He dove into their nest, and was comforted by the smell of him and his alpha. 

The smell was fading away sadly, he’ll need to get Alejandro to re-scent the nest soon .  

His eyes became more droopy by the second, then they finally closed. Rudy smiled subconsciously while dreaming about his little family. He also dreamed about owning a cat, but that’ll be a different adventure for later.

Rudy woke up with a slight jolt, being woken up from his beauty sleep. He groaned in confusion before hearing Alejandro speak: 

“Amor, you've been sleeping for a bit, it’s past dinner time.” Alejandro gently shook Rudy out of his sleep, a little bit scared of what Rudy might do. He gets really grumpy without his precious sleep.

  It’s like a drug for him. Alejandro thought. But honestly he couldn’t blame him. Alejandro himself loved sleep, but Rudy loved it more. He should definitely take the pups out tomorrow so Rudy could hopefully get caught up with sleep, a little saddened his mate might not be able to come with.

Rudy was still sleepy when Alejandro spoke, the words not even registering in his mind.

“What–“ Rudy stretched his arms and legs, a small moan let out in the process. His shirt riled up, causing his nipples to harden against the friction.The sight of Rudy all sprawled out like that with his stomach exposed and out in the open, at that moment made Alejandro’s cock throb, all his blood supply went directly straight to it. You couldn’t even blame the man, he hasn’t made love to his omega in months.

 Rudy noticed what had happened, and quickly pulled his shirt back down. Rudy felt hot all of a sudden. A deep red hue crept up Rudy’s neck and face, like a fully ripe tomato. He hid his face in his hands quickly out of embarrassment. 

God damn, that’s all what took for him to be hard? Alejandro is like one of those Victorian men who think showing ankle skin is seductive, one of the rare few that thought so way back. 

“Don’t even think about it.” Rudy grunted out quickly, he didn’t want Alejandro to notice how much that affected him, god he’s such a prude, he really needs to get dicked down. Alejandro let out a small laugh, Rudy cursed him in his mind. He checked the time, just now noticing it was late in the evening now, Rudy sprang out of bed in a quick motion, now promptly cursing out loud. 

“ Mierda — I forgot to make lunch and dinner for you guys—” Rudy was in a rush to get out of their bedroom in order to make them dinner, he completely forgot. He was so caught up in the moment of Alejandro and the pups, and needing a nap from being tired a lot recently, it somehow slipped his mind. He failed, he couldn’t do the simplest of things–

Alejandro gripped onto his shoulders, beginning to make small movements to calm him down.

“Rudy— calm down, I made dinner for them,” Alejandro reassured him, gently massaging his shoulders. Rudy almost instantly calmed down, his mind close to being blank of no concerns before another thought came up. “Did Maria eat it all? I know she has trouble eating certain foods, did Izan need help with cleaning up after? Did they—”

“Maria ate all of her food with a little help, and Izan did his best cleaning up,” Alejandro could just feel the relief Rudy emitted after hearing they were okay. He wondered if Rudy had to do this everyday, all alone. The thought of Rudy being all alone this whole time, with barely any help besides his mom, makes his chest clench in disgust at himself. 

He’s such a bad alpha, can’t even provide for his own family, it’s his fault he’s gone all the time. 

Alejandro can’t keep that thought away this time, he truly believes that he’s a bad alpha.

He never knew that Maria and Izan had been doing these things, because he was never around. Alejandro doesn’t blame Rudy for not telling him, but blames himself. Sure he could’ve asked Rudy himself, but he doesn’t need to do that. He should’ve known from the beginning. He doesn’t want Rudy to be taking care of their pups alone ever again.

“ Wait– you only made dinner?” How come his mate didn’t make them lunch? Rudy turned around to look at Alejandro. Alejandro sighed with a smile: “Maria and Izan both told me that they were too excited to eat, and they weren’t actually hungry. Don’t worry, they also had a snack time which was apples and peanut butter.” 

Alejandro turned Rudy back around so he could continue massaging his omega’s shoulders. He contemplated what to say.

“You worry too much mi amor,” Alejandro almost whispered, it sounded more like a worried sigh. He couldn’t keep his feelings out of his voice, not when he’s here to support Rudy. 

The confession made Rudy tense up a little bit. He responded with, “I worry about the right amount.” Rudy lightly laughed, trying to move on from this part of the conversation, he felt the air getting a little awkward. He was afraid he came off a little harsh. 

Wait– did he come off a little harsh? Maybe that’s why the air feels so awkward.

“Are the pups asleep now?” Rudy coughed, trying to dissolve the awkwardness. The cough sounded so fake, even Alejandro knows what Rudy is trying to do.

Alejandro decided to go along with what Rudy was doing and continued with his shoulders.

 Alejandro got rid of some tension in Rudy’s shoulders, making him feeling less tense by the second, Alejandro still continuing to massage his shoulders. “Not yet, they wanted to wait for you, and asked me to wake you up, mi alma.” Alejandro responded, now stopping his massage on Rudy’s shoulders, his hands moving to cup with mate’s face. 

Alejandro admires his face, seeing every detail. His chocolate brown eyes always and never fails to ignite his spirit. His beautiful everlasting smile lines, oh how he misses him laughing all the time. Their days of filled laughter covered his omega’s face. The way his stubble felt under his fingers, Alejandro will ask Rudy if he wants help to shave later. It’s a bonding thing they do together, and they love it.

Maybe a haircut as well. Alejandro smiled, but it felt sad for some reason. If only he quit the special forces, and gave leadership to a trusted teammate, could he have avoided all this pain for his mate?

Silence overtook the room again, they were both contemplating on what to say or do. They knew that they needed to have this talk.

Rudy licked his lips, inhaling once more for him to be the first one to say something. He sighed, before continuing–

“I know I say this all the time, but I’ve missed you, Ale,” He whispered next to his mate's ear, only for Alejandro to hear. Rudy paused before starting again, he thought about how he needed to tell Alejandro how he felt, and not bottle it up anymore. He couldn’t bear feeling this way. 

“ Please— don’t leave us again. I don’t know if I can handle it if you do,” Rudy felt his eyes water up for the second time that day. Alejandro’s face softened, hearing the pain in Rudy’s voice, even though it was barely above a whisper. Alejandro just kept silent, he hummed for him to continue, letting Rudy communicate his troubles. It was the least he could for now.

“My heart breaks everytime you leave—“ He sniffed, his throat felt like it was closing up. 

“It's like I lose a part of myself everytime you’re not here , and the pups cry for you every night.” Rudy let the tears cascade down his face freely, making a move to wipe them. Instead Alejandro stopped Rudy’s hands, using his own to wipe his tears, Rudy’s heart swooned at the simple action. Alejandro never wanted his own mate to ever feel this way. The silence grew by each second of Alejandro trying to share his feelings.

Alejandro struggled to get the words out. It’s not that he doesn’t want to say them, but because he doesn’t want to disappoint Rudy.

“Lo siento mi vida. I never wanted you to be alone in this, I promise you’ll never have to go through this pain again.” It’s the truth. He could never lie to his love. The world would end before he does. 

 Alejandro leaned forward kissing Rudy deeply. They both knew a kiss like that was coming, but they couldn’t predict how it’ll feel like. Alejandro couldn’t explain it, neither Rudy could either. It felt ethereal. Alejandro was the first to pull away, even though he didn’t want to, just now remembering their pups are waiting for them. He pulled his lips away, just to gently kiss the omega’s forehead.

 Rudy smiled, his teeth showing while giggling like a child again. His cheeks were blushing badly, his heart fluttering like how he looked and felt when Alejandro confessed his love to him for the first time. Alejandro uncupped his hands from Rudy’s face— noticing the blush but not saying anything. He smiled at how Rudy got so flustered. ( Alejandro felt the same.)

He gently grabbed his hand to guide them out the room. Rudy missed holding his alpha’s hands, he craved it when his lover was gone.

 He missed the heat of his hand, how Alejandro gripped the handhold like he was in fear of letting him go. His hand always felt tingly afterwards, he knew it was the blood circulation coming back, but he blamed it on how his body was missing his touch.

“You promise?” Rudy cleared his throat, gripping a little harder on the hand hold. 

Alejandro looked into his eyes once more, saying a vow he knows he’ll keep.

“I promise.” He stared lovingly at Rudy, never wanting to take them off of him ever again. His love, his life. They still have a long way to go, to get back to their regular lives, but Alejandro doesn’t care about the wait.

The pups were waiting outside of the room for them, watching a short little cartoon to keep them entertained. It was the show they absolutely loved, they would beg Rudy for them to watch it everyday. Rudy monitors what they watch, and they mostly play outside or with their toys anyway. He doesn’t want them to think that the only way they can have fun is watching TV. Plus being outside is wonderful, especially where they live.

Alejandro must have asked them recently, they became obsessed with the show a couple of weeks ago. Rudy quickly let the thought move to the back of his mind, now sitting on the couch with Maria and Izan; Alejandro on the other side of them, causing the pups to be sandwiched in between their parents. Rudy could hear the twins shuffling around, conversing with each other.

Maria looked at Izan with questioning eyes, only they could know what they were talking about, Rudy always thought it was a twin thing, always knowing what the other thinks. They looked at each other for a couple of more seconds before coming to a conclusion, with Maria looking up at Alejandro, Izan stays quiet because he has some trouble with eye contact. Maria was the more braver of the two. Izan just liked to be kept to himself most of the time, like how Rudy was when he was a pup.

“Dada…?” Maria hesitated on what she was going to say, as if the answer could make or break their whole life at that very moment.  Alejandro turned over to Maria, confused about what she was asking of him. “Sí mija?” Alejandro gave a smile of reassurance for her to continue talking, he wanted his children to always speak their mind, for their voices to be heard. Also for them to have basic social skills– but they don’t need to know that.

“W-will you stay this time?” Maria still had some trouble with speaking, considering she’s two years old, but Alejandro could understand her perfectly well. He could hear the wobble in her voice when she spoke, the way she stuttered with nervousness. How he can see her chest increasing in speed while intaking more breaths. Her cheeks were turning a pinkish hue, her eyes filling up with fresh new tears, begging to be released.

 Even the way she fidgeted with her hands to keep herself calm, he all understood how she felt, and what answer she wanted to hear. Rudy glanced towards Alejandro, needing to hear the answer. Rudy doesn’t know what he’ll do if Alejandro has to leave again, he’s barely hanging on as it is.  Lucky for them, it’s the answer they all wanted to know. 

Alejandro longed and yearned for him to be with his family again.

He took in a breath, as if he was stalling. Rudy joked to himself, in order to make himself feel better if this is another let down– a failure to make his alpha stay this time.

“Yes I will, from now on, I’ll be going on less missions and focusing more on you guys, like I should've been doing from the start.” Alejandro ran his fingers through Maria’s hair, she giggled happily before hugging her father with all the strength she had. A smile crept up on Izan’s face, his eyes asking for permission to hug Alejandro, which Alejandro obviously accepted. 

Alejandro looked up at Rudy to see his face with slight shock, his mouth partially open. His eyebrows were furrowed in confusion. Did Rudy not believe he’s staying?

“I’ll still be working, but it’ll be less frequent. I’ll be able to be with you bebès for much longer.” Alejandro swayed the hug a little bit in an attempt to put them to sleep. 

“And papá!” Izan exclaimed, he wasn’t much of a yeller so it surprised both Alejandro and Rudy. Alejandro quickly glanced at Rudy again, reaching his hand out to hold the other: Rudy gladly accepted with ease, his shoulders slumping with released tension. 

“Sí and your papá,” Alejandro let out a little laugh, kissing both Maria and Izan’s foreheads. He noticed their eyes started to become droopy, maybe the warm milk he gave them as a drink really does help with sleep. “I think they’re asleep,” Rudy whispered to Alejandro while getting up to check on their pups. “Are they?” Alejandro asked, he wanted to make sure so he didn’t accidentally wake them.

“Sí, vamos.” Rudy stepped out of the way so Alejandro could walk down the hall, he watched how easily Alejandro could carry both of them. 

They entered Maria and Izan’s room, the room was colored with blue and green tones, Blue being Maria’s color and Green being Izan’s color. Rudy re-did Maria’s side of the room because she wanted it to be blue, and Rudy couldn’t say no to his very demanding daughter. He’s not complaining though, he loves her with his whole heart, and more.

Alejandro put Maria down gently in her bed first, tucking her in, and kissing her on the head. Izan was next, Rudy could hear his cute little snores. Alejandro tucked in Izan, giving him the same forehead kisses as he gave Maria. Once he was done, Alejandro quietly walked up to the door frame, where Rudy was waiting for him. Alejandro placed his warm hands on Rudy’s waist, causing Rudy to feel a shiver crawl down his spine. He placed his own hands over Alejandro’s, securing them in place. 

 Rudy gazed at their pups, his heart overflowing with love, Alejandro noted how Rudy was staring at them.He could feel the love radiating off of his mate. Alejandro glanced back at them as well, his eyes filled with affection and love. They stood there for a couple more minutes before Rudy turned to Alejandro, “Thank you for putting them to bed for me Ale,” Rudy whispered, he led them towards their own room hand in hand.

“You shouldn’t be thanking me for doing a simple task parents do, amor.” Alejandro cupped Rudy’s face, he wanted to properly apologize for not being around and barely supported his mate when he needed it.  

“I want to sincerely apologize for never being around, and leaving you to take care of our pups alone.” Alejandro stared into Rudy’s eyes fully meaning every word he’s saying. Rudy shook his head, letting out a huff, closing his eyes to process. “But— I wasn’t alone, I had my mamá—“

“ Rodolfo .” Alejandro commanded. It was an alpha command, and Alejandro never uses his tone of voice like that unless he’s on a mission. Rudy stilled instantly. He smelt calming pheromones from his mate, in an attempt to calm him down a little. Alejandro cleared his throat, trying to find the right words to say.

“You shouldn’t only have her help, I should’ve been there with you. I let you down as a mate, and I let our pups down as a father.” Alejandro let out a shaky breath, he said what he wanted to say, and what Rudy needed to hear. 

“I barely got to see the pup’s firsts, their first steps, their first words, only through a phone screen. I never wanted this for any of us,” Tears could be seen falling down Alejandro’s cheeks.

Sadness and turmoil were clouding Rudy’s eyes, his breathing quickened, frustration building up:

“You didn’t let them down as a father— sure you didn’t come home often due to your work, but they knew you loved them,” Alejandro hoped that was true. He loved his pups so much, he couldn’t stand the thought of them not loving him the same.

Rudy had to take a deep breath to calm himself down, though it felt like it did the opposite.

“But I can’t and won’t lie to you, I was angry with you, No— Infuriated Alejandro. Especially when Maria and Izan realized, they would ask of you all the time. Do you know how heartbreaking it is listening to them crying — begging for you?” Rudy let out to his hearts’ content, hearing those words coming from himself felt hurtful, the words feeling bitter on his tongue. If he stopped now, he would never get the chance to say it. As Rudy went on to tell off Alejandro, he stared back at Rudy with a heartbreaking look, after hearing how his mate felt.

“When they begged for you and I wasn’t able to call you because you were doing an important mission, risking your life , they would lock themselves away in their rooms and wouldn’t get out for anything–” a crack in his voice, “until I was able to call you.”

A somber and yearnful silence formed. 

“You said that we needed more money, but all we— I needed was you.” Rudy let out a choked sobbed, he found himself curling into Alejandro’s arms, being comforted by him. “I just hope you don’t leave us again for months at a time.” Rudy murmured in Alejandro’s arms, it was quiet, but those words stuck with Alejandro. Once this leave is over, he’ll immediately barge into his office and either put in his indefinite leave or his resignation form. It’s a promise to himself, Rudy, and their pups. 

“I won’t mi amor, never again. I never wanted to hurt you, or our pups.” Alejandro tightened the hug a bit more, showing that he means what he said. He knows what he has to tell Rudy.

“Mi amor,” Alejandro drawls, mentally gearing up if Rudy would even believe him. This issue has been with them for the past two years, it needed to be cleared up at the first time it was discussed, but it didn’t. It’s better late than never, even if it irked Alejandro to think that. Even thinking about how much this has affected them, re-hearing how broken Rudy’s wails and screams when he first saw this random omega’s lacy underwear in his luggage, Alejandro needed to say this now. 

“I know how I couldn’t smell the cabróns underwear” Alejandro spoke softly, almost inaudible to Rudy if he wasn’t in his arms. He knew the moment when Rudy processed what he was talking about. It looked like a bucket of ice water was dumped on the omega, his lip started to tremble slightly, still in his mates’ arms, his eyes visibly widened.

“How..?” Rudy questioned slowly. He’s been waiting two years for this, he knows that Alejandro would never cheat on him, but he always wondered how he couldn’t smell their god awful scent. 

“They would always be around me, causing me these– these headaches that made me want to claw my nose out. I forced myself to get used to their scent, and may or may not have shoved so many things up my nose to ease the scent,” Alejandro rambled out with a stutter, his heart ramming against his chest to know if Rudy believes him. He barely even believes in himself, now hearing the words out loud. It sounds like he’s crazy, like he’s telling this big lie to keep Rudy in his life. But he’s not, it’s the truth. 

“I lived with this guilt that I failed you, Rudy. I wished I noticed, I wished I could’ve stopped all of it at the beginning to ease your pain, our pups' pain, but I only just figured it out,” Alejandro almost sobbed out, “I never wanted any of this to happen to you, mi amor. Words can’t describe how much I know that I screwed all of this up if only I just communicated,” Alejandro’s hands were clammy, his chest hurting like someone is sitting on his chest, tears gathered in his eyes, threatening to seep out.

A few seconds passed by with Rudy opening and closing his mouth again. Alejandro’s anxiety jumped up to an impossible peak. He felt his fate forming, like Rudy doesn’t believe him, how could he believe something that sounded so wrong?

A teary smile appears on Rudy’s face. A genuine smile. The asymmetric smile that Alejandro ever so loves, and longs to see for the rest of his years. 

“I never blamed you Ale,” Rudy answered with a wavery voice, “I had doubts about myself if I was good enough for you, but I now realize how blind I was,” He spoke from his heart. The omega lightly shoved his face into his mate’s neck and inhaled the comforting scent. He had to restrain himself from nibbling the scent gland. 

Realization seeped into Rudy. God how stupid was he.

Rudy stuttered before starting, this was really going to be hard to admit, but he needed to. He can't let this hold him back anymore.

“I had this voice of myself repeating in my head that I was failing. Failing you, and our pups. But I see now I was wrong.” Rudy said, smothered by the alpha’s scent and neck. Just thinking about how much low self worth he had filled him with abhorrence.

 “You’re good enough for me, and more, Rudy. You’re a good papá to our pups,” Alejandro trails off, smiling with happy tears brimming his eyes. “You’re an excellent Sergeant Major, and the best right hand man I could ever ask for. I can’t imagine my life without you, mi alma,” Alejandro conjured all of the things Rudy has ever done for him, wanting him to feel recognized, and that he was worth more than he thought.

“Also because if you weren’t saving ass while on missions, I wouldn’t be here saying this,” Alejandro rushed out with a laugh, Rudy joining him.

“You are good enough for me too, mi amor,” Rudy firmly stated. He wanted Alejandro to know the same. “Especially how you provide for us like the good father you are, and mate,” Rudy smiled with his signature toothy smile that he knows Alejandro loves. “You also saved me more times than I can count,” The omega brightly mentioned. Alejandro smiled in answering.

“My days will never be the same without you, Ale, I only love you.” The omega whispered.

Alejandro looked at Rudy like he just hung the stars. “I only love you too, Rudy.” Alejandro gently cupped his mate’s jaw, kissed him passionately. Rudy didn’t expect it, letting out a little squeak. Alejandro smirked into the kiss, causing Rudy to mentally roll his eyes at the alpha’s actions.

They both broke away from the kiss with a gasp, and rested their foreheads together.

 The mated couple looked deeply into the other’s eyes, and just laughed. “Dios mio, we were idiots,” Alejandro laughed at how idiotic they were the past two-ish years, letting the other omega situation keep a wall between them. Rudy frowned slightly, and hit Alejandro’s arm as a joke, “Hey, it doesn’t matter anymore, what matters now is the present, and right now I want you.” He sheepishly demanded.

Alejandro’s mind honed in on the last couple words his mate said and snickered “You want me right now?” Alejandro purred in his mate’s ear.

“Ale this is serious!” Rudy tried his best to sound upset, but it came out as a wanted giggle.

Alejandro shushed the omega with another kiss, effectively making him go quiet, and pliant in his arms. How he loved his mate, and nothing will ever change that.
