Summary:

They always come back to them, one way or another, they always do, it almost unavoidable when you fall in love with the sun and moon.

Or.

The gods fall in love and now there are consequences to be paid.

Notes:

Yes yes, leave me be, this was inspired by me finding out Chan means moon and I am a mythos nerd, so hush.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Nobody knew when it all went wrong, when it all went downhill, all they new it that they were ruthless and could never be calmed down, the nights were horrifying and the days even worse, humans were scared of living in that period of time, but soon it would end, it had to end, it was almost time.

He looked up at the sky, shining there so bright, almost in a mocking way, laid the moon, the one of the two rulers, shining so brightly it almost felt as sinful not to look at it, he let out a tired breath as he lowered his gaze, finding the fiery eyes and red hair of his jagiya, seated on his horse, also looking tired as he smiled with care, they both knew that it was time to go back, back to them, like they always did.

"Sleep is already there," he was informed as he slowly trouted along the coast. "We shall arrive before sunrise."

"It's not like we have much choice, jagiya." he giggled, "That's what happens when you fall in love with the sun and the moon.”

His jagiya nodded "Yeah, I know, pretty, I know."

They were Love and War, gods created under the eyes of humankind, man made deities that were worshiped, to be honest, most of the gods were man made, they were created under the guidelines of necessity, love, war, sleep, money, entertainment, amusement, but reason was also a key factor, an explanation of some sort to the world around them, the ocean, thunder and woodling noises were an example, but the rulers? Oh no, you can never doubt the universe's favorite lights.

Sun and Moon, Moon and Sun, the two protectors, the universe favorite lights, been put on this earth so balance could existence, could be maintained, that every single being the roamed the earth felt safe and listen to, it didn't matter if the sun shines bright or the moon keep them warm at night, they were protected, safe, heard, and they did just that... At first.

Moon was known to be the calmer of the two, having a special connexion with water gods and nymphs, been the soothing force that made everyone look up at the sky and feel at peace, he was ruler of the night, so gods that work better in the dark were under his watch, doing their job when no mortals were around, most of the time he would sing to the humans that Sleep misses, humming lullabies as Sleep did his job to put them to rest, Moon liked Sleep, maybe a little too much. Sun was the energetic one, bring life and happiness to everyone that basked in his light, nature gods and humans were more active when he was around, they used his light to survive and thrive, he was known to be a happy guy, always bouncing around and been in wonder of the creations of the ones that were under him, he loved the stories that were made in broad daylight, the dancing and the noise, Sun was very found of many gods, maybe a little too much...

Sun and Moon, the eternal lovers, gods created for one another, one day locked themselves up in their palace, no one knew why, but cloudy days and night were ahead for a time, humans didn't seem to mind, but the gods did, the rulers never had acted this way before, ever, they knocked on their door multiple times, begging them to open up, but the only thing they received was silence, until, a week later, they emerged, and they looked the same, acted the same, for all they cared the self inflicted banishment in their home walls could have  never happened! But those who were closest to them noticed something in their eyes, something they were too scared of to question their ruler, something… Almost evil.

They fell in love, and things started to go to shit.

War was first in their little polycule of madness, he had stumbled upon the mountain where Sun and Moon went when their shift was over, the little path they crossed to go home, were dawn was made and eclipse were worshiped, he was badly injured after a particular fight, he was War, yes, but he was Wisdom as well, and he knew, that Lord Sun would help him, for he was the one that gave the don of healing and plague to those who seemed fit, for him understanding the duality of goddlyhood was a given.

Slowly, with the blood of the gods and mortals dripping from his injured  body, he knocked on the copper door of the royal palace, waiting for his lords response to his soft pleads of help, he kneeled when the door open, hissing slightly when the cold marble hit his exposed scraped knees, been hit with the warm light of the ruler of the Sun, Felix, as mortals has dubbed him, he almost felt recovered with that alone, his big bright silver eyes looking at him with worry as he was some sort of injured animal.

“I’m so sorry to bother my lord, but my pain is too much for me to handle, so I pray for your assistance.”

He was picked up by the waist quickly, he closed his eyes, trusting his lord to fix what was wrong with him, and there were a lot of things, but for now, the physical ones shall do.

"Heal him," the deep voice of the Sun spoke, loud and clear, War felt his inside tremble as he was laid on his lap, warm hands touching him softly as they were afraid to break him. "I shall stay here with him, and bring Moon with you, yes?"

"Yes, your highness." hurried steps were heard as well as door closing, he opened his eyes, finding Lord Sun's, he smiled and did a little bow with his head.

"Thank you my lord." the sun stroked his cheek, a smile placed on his lips as he gently held him. "I appreciate your care."

"Of course my dear, how could I not?" he bopped his nose, giggling. "Soon you'll feel better, and when we are done with you, you'll understand the purpose of it all."

War was confused, but he did not question his lord, he just nodded, the big gated of the room opened, hushed whispers where heard as they soft light of the moon hit his skin, a big hand cupped his face and he knew, even between his own darkness, that Lord Moon was there with them.

“Oh you poor thing, look at the state you are in.” War grunted when he felt finger press up against a pretty big slash “Let us heal you, you’ll feel so much better, our pretty Jisungie .”

War felt a chill run down his spine when he heard the name mortals gave him and let the sun and moon cure him, it hurted, but it felt so good, he gripped onto their arms as he tried so hard not to scream his lungs out, he was praised and hushed softly, gentle strokes ran across his body as he fell into unconsciousness, when he woke up after what seemed to be an eternity, his injuries seem to been stitched up with silver and gold, like he was broken pot and the crack filled with the precious metal associated with the rulers.

He felt funny, he wasn’t sure at the time what it was, in hindsight he wished he had noticed the signs, but he was a fool, he trusted those two with his life, he still does, but back then he just brushed it off as post healing feeling, he sat carefully on the bed he was provided, it was big and comfy, starts where hanging from the ceiling and the view from the balcony was just so magnificent-

Wait a minute.

He looked around, the royal deep blue of the walls and most of the furniture, as well as the patterns on the wall and several pieces of art, he knew this was no guest room, he looked around on the bed, only to find the Sun sleeping next to him in his nightgown, he gasped softly, no one had ever seen the Sun when the Moon was up, he usually stayed inside the palace to recharge and plan the sunrise, War thought he was beautiful, anyone would if they could see him, he had black hair, fairly golden skin and small splashes of darker pigment on his face, mortals called them freckles, War could even say he saw the stars in those beautiful cheeks almost like he tried to hold them but when he tried and let go they stayed on him, decorating his face, his hair was scattered around the mattress, like a deep ocean of nothingness, War blushed when he saw how pretty he was, how enchanting his Lord was.

He regrets ever thinking that, he regret even more how easily he was convinced to stay, Sun was so beautiful and alluring, his cute smile and sweet words were enough to have War at his feet, but he did notice a strange reddish glow in his eyes, almost as a sign of danger, that his lord wasn't completely aware of what he was doing. And yet, he fell.

“Stay, stay and be with me, us, forever, you’ll be treated like what you are, be ours, ours and no one else's.”

He was weak, disgusting being for breaking his own rule of horner, he bended like he was nothing more than a desperate prisoner that was begging for mercy, or under a spell, because he already had someone waiting on him, someone that he had loved for so long, but yet, even with those cute obsidian eyes in mind and those bunny teeth he adored so much, he said yes.

“Oh, you will not regret this, my love.” He already did, the moment those warm lips touched him, he knew he was doomed.

Lord Moon arrived a couple of hours later, delighted by the sight he found. War was between Sun’s legs, his hair being braided as Sun told him stories of old, before he was ever thought of or anything else matter but him and Moon, when it was all stale and lifeless, how the primordial force created them and how they saw the world evolve.

War also heard the story of they fell in love with him, he cursed internally that trip he made to the river by the mountain, how he didn’t think twice when he felt something, or someone's, watching him, how he did look around and notice the two rulers

War was at their mercy, forevermore.

War looked up at the sky, the sound of the waves hitting the shore made him relax, the moon was still  high and mighty, as it always had been, but he knew, they both did that soon it wouldn’t be like that.

“Is Nature with the Ocean?” he asked softly to his beloved, Love nodded sheepishly as he saw a lilac misty fog surrounding the woods.

“Seems like they let him do his job.” War chuckled darkly, moving branches out of their way. “Do you think they have the chains for Death?”

“They always do, it has been well over a millenia, jagiya, there is no way they aren’t doing the same thing as they always did.” Love hummed in agreement as the sight of a beautiful pastor of flowers came into view, and soon enough, their other two lovers.

Deep blue hair and yellow eyes, scales running down his arms and legs as well as some under his eyes, he moved his body with elegance and grace, dancing with the fresh ocean air, causing the waves to follow his lead, his seafoam green rob getting tangled with his silver waist chains and bracelets that hanged from his wrist, Ocean created the waves with a sad face, behind him sitting  couple of feet away while looking up at the moon, pink hair with white highlights looking as soft as possible with the flowers that formed his crown, sunflowers and moon flowers, nothing covering his top, only a cream rob hiding his lower parts, golden necklaces and headpiece with the sun in the middle intertwin with his vines that sprung on his hair, their laid Nature, a solemn expression on his sweet face it could break anyone's heart.

“Are we running late?” He asked, making Ocean stop his movements, turning around to face them, the worry and fear in his eyes were clear.

“No, no of course not.” Love assured as he placed a kiss on their foreheads “But we do need to get there on time.”

“Yeah, are we taking the coast line?” Ocean asked with a glimpse of hope.

“Yes, baby, we are.” Ocean smiled as he ran up to them kissing their cheeks before they started to walk again, being serenaded by the noises of the younger's domain.

“Death went with Sleep.” Nature spoke after grabbing a poppy flower from the ground.

“That’s new, he never leaves this early, he is usually the last, almost when Lord Sun is about to leave.” War turned to face his lover, who was twirling the flower around his fingers.

“Yeah, but you know how he is, the earlier you get there, the less time you have.” they all grunted in agreement, silence ruled over for a couple of miles, before Nature spoke again. “When did this become our lives?  They weren’t like that, we weren’t like this.”

War looked at Love, the older took out one of his arrows and sigh, a weak smile placed on his lips as he played with his weapon. The same weapon that put them all in this mess

“Never trust someone to guard your stuff, they might betray you in the end.” Ocean hummed to Love’s words, knowing that the person responsible was a statue at the bottom of the ocean, being punished for what they did.

“I just hope Sleep and Death are alright, our Lord's do get cranky when we all don’t arrive together.” Ocean spoke again, moving his fingers to create an ambiance of peace. “The time before the last one we weren’t allowed to leave our rooms for a week.”

“Yeah, I hope so too.” War mumbled, looking at the moon again, seeing how it wasn’t in his full stage but his new one.

Death gasped as the strong grip of the moon laid on his neck, nothing too serious to hurt him, even if even tried to hurt him, how do you hurt Death himself? Moon knew that, he knew that, but still, the chains around his wings weren’t any less uncomfortable then the last time, holding him down as kisses trailed down, Death laid there in his own bed, hovering over him with might as he sucked and bit his neck.

“You’re home early…” He whispered as he bit down on his exposed shoulder. “Wanna share why?”

“Finished my shift early.” He closed his eyes as the smoothing kisses were left on his skin, tiny licks and soft bites here and there, but the moon had a thing for marking. “Lord…”

Chan ” the moon growled, tightening his grip on Death’s neck, with his force, it was enough to kill anyone, any mortal or lesser god, but not Death, for you can never kill something that has never been alive, Death whimpered as a hand roamed under his dark robe. “It’s Chan for you, Seungminnie , you know the rule.”

“Yes, yes of course, s-sorry, Chan” Moon hummed, returning to his job of touching him.

Death closed his eyes, memory wondering to how the fuck he ended up in the Lunatics bed, been kissed and touched by him in a way he thought for a long time only the Sun could enjoy, a way so intimate that he was sure Love has seen so many times before, was he able to see it now? Was it ever there? Love seems to be the least freaked out by their lord's outbursts, so maybe…

It was a good chunk in the time when Sun and Moon went what mortals called “insane”, but it wasn’t that bad, or so he thought, by the time he had arrived in their little polycule type of thing they were having, it wasn't, War, Nature and Ocean were already there, he remembered haven’t seen them in a good while, he was also worried because the influx of war related deaths were decreasing by the masses, but he just assumed mortals decided it was time for peace, and he was thankful for that, that also meant that he could be Wisdom more often and he knew that mortals lacked common knowledge most of the time.

He was sorrowful, his best friend, Ocean, had stopped meeting him at their usual spot near by the lake, he had also stop doing his duties and mortals were starting to get suspicious, sailors were becoming distraught and his domain was early still to a point that it was almost unnatural, Ocean was relatively young, he was filed with energy and loved doing his job, when he asked the nymphs or the minor deities in the area where Ocean was, all he received was silence and scared looks, that was odd to him, they stopped been scared of him a long time ago, after them seeing him with Ocean (and sometimes Nature) they didn’t fear him as before, so what was it?

"He's over there" A nymph told him one day as he asked once more, her figure was shaking and she spoke in whispers, scared that she might be heard, she ended up pointing to the mountain where the sun and moon came out, were beyond the horizon was their palace. "He's been there for a long time."

What in the good name of creation was Ocean doing there? Everyone knew the Lord Sun and Lord Moon had been acting weirdly lately, hearsay and worried looks were given at the two rulers as they did their shifts, sometimes they wouldn't even appear for months, this was one of those days, Lord Sun send a representative and Lord Moon changed the moon cycle, again, today was new moon, Ocean had told him that if he kept doing that it would all be a big disbalance, he couldn't keep up with all these changes, Ocean was close to Lord Moon, but him been in the palace made it strange to him, they were close but not that close.

He thanked the nymph with a bow and a shiny gem and started to walked towards the mountain, ignorant to the spiral of events that would unfold the moment he step foot inside those pearly gates, his wings dragged along his step, creating a soft sound of sand and wind, his scythe was neatly secured on his back as he open the gates to the palace, it was cold and calm, been nighttime and up the mountain, it was normal for it to be in this stage, the greenery was more vivid, like freshly taken care of, he should have noticed the roses that laid on the entrance halls or the vines that hanged from it, he should have question the smell of sulfur and the sea salt, but that only gave him hope that Ocean was there for some reason, he knocked on the door with shaky fingers and waited for someone to answer his call. He felt his body run cold as the wind blew and the wolves howled, the moon's sacred animals were no surprise but this time they sounded different, like they were lamenting something.

Soon enough, the door opened and Lord Moon was standing before him, he had a black robe on, badly secured as his chest was revealed alongside side some symbols that he will soon recognize for his own will soon form part of it, his golden eyes looked at him with a mixture of glee and something else, Death was surprised to not be greeted with his shiny silver hair, but instead it was blond and curly looking so soft he was tempted to reach out and feel it, but he resisted, that was his lod! He must not be so indecent, Lord Moon smiled so sweetly Death could feel heat rising to his cheeks.

"Death, my dearest, what brings you here?" his dimples were on full display, even now, Death can look at them all day.

"Sorry for the intrusion, my lord, but I got the word Ocean was here, and he is needed down there, mortals are starting to notice his absence."

He should have seen the reddish glow in the moon's eyes, or how his smile flattened a bit, maybe how his whole demeanor changed, how his body stiffen and his smirk became somewhat evil, but he didn't, and he ended up where he is today, Moon extended his hand, a dark midnight blue with stars with sharp nails, terrifying but they had the ability to calm anyone down, Death took it without hesitation, why would he? He trusted his Lord.

"Yes, he is, wanna come find him, Seungmin?"

He was pulled inside the palace with force that he yelp in surprised, the dark surrounded him as he felt dizzy, he felt like he was falling and falling, aire was no longer in his lungs as he tried to flap his wings, he couldn’t, panic started to rise inside him before he hit the bottom of what seemed and endless pit, he blinked to steady himself, looking around to find a room with dim lighting, his back felt heavy but he didn't know why, he heard whimpers and hushed sobs, he turned around alarmed, Nature was there, he was close to Ocean, always spending time with him during the day when he wasn’t that active, he looked fine, but the cracks on his skin were alarming, he looked like a broken porcelain doll, under his eyes, around his fingers and ankles were fixed with what looked like silver and gold.

"Nature? Oh dear creation, Nature!" Nature looked up with wide eyes, a glimmer of happiness brusted out of them as he stood up shakenly and ran to hug him, he hugged back, feeling relieved that he was safe.

"Oh Death," Nature whimpered, holding his face so they could see eye to eye, two perfect cracks were under them, one filled with gold and the other with silver, he wasn’t bleeding, but Death could smell the scent of gods blood, before he could speak, Nature did. "Why did you come?"

"Ocean, Ocean was needed and I was told he was here, Nature, where is Ocean?" Nature bit his lip, nervousness clear in his face as he rubbed his thumb against his cheek.

"In bed," he responded "In bed with Lord Moon." His blood ran cold, what? "Death... Seungmin” his voice came out as a broken whisper "you can't escape now, you should have never come here."

His back felt heavy and a sharp pain ran across it, it was unbearable. He felt like burning, like his wings were set on fire, every inch of his body ached to the sudden jolt. That was not possible, he could not feel pain, so what was it? What was causing this?, he turned back alarmed, wondering what was happening. There, at the entrance of the door, was illuminated by his own very light and the one from the hall, holding a chain made out of gold, stood the silhouette of Lord Sun, smiling so sweetly it made him sick to his stomach.

"You will stay here, Minnie, with us." Death gulped as Nature held him close, cradling him between his arms as they both looked at the sun, Nature had his hand on the base of his wings, his powers trying to shooden his pain away. "Don't worry, we will all soon be together and happy," another tug, Death closed his eyes, it felt like he was ripping his wings in one clean stroke, a pool of fear bundled in the pit of his stomach, he could, if he wanted to, he would. "Be good now."

Oh how he hated that he didn't feel like leaving.

War jumped off his horse as Nature climb on top of him, Phobos huffed a bit as he was now been walked by his owner, at the base of the mountain top, Nature started to feel ill, like always, his flowers slowing dying and his natural glow was dimming, Love and War knew the moment he cough thing were starting, Love held his waist and helped him up, Nature smiled weakly as he laid on top of Phobos, the horse looked at his rider, waiting, even if he knew what he had to do.

“Don’t let him wither, Phobos, please.” The horse nodded and started to glow so softly, Nature hummed, happy to feel warm again. War bit his lip. “I’m so sorry, my dear.”

“It’s not your fault, sweetie.” Nature assured, eyes half closed as they walked up the mountain. “It’s okay, I’m okay.”

War whimpered as Love held him close, Ocean took Phobos reins and they walked in silence, Nature’s light snores were echoing the path way.

“Sleep should be here any moment now.” Ocean mumbled when they reached half way, the other two nodded in silence, waiting for their lover to arrive.

Ocean stood looking over, seeing how his domain quivers and calms down, starting to notice his absence, it was far away but he could still hear its song and how it hit against the shore, he loved his domain, he loved everything that ensued, he spent most of his ealy godly years never leaving the confines of the sea, just enjoying how the water felt, the creatures swimming and all the life that flourished, he loved his domain, he sometimes forgets why he left it.

He turns to see the sleeping figure of Nature, Hyunjin , as mortals called him, and he remembers why he left the sea, right, it was for him. It was always for him, he remembers seeing him walk along the shore with Sleep, laughing and splashing water at each other, he saw how Sleep kissed Natures cheeks, and he wasn’t sure who he was jealous of, Nature was kind to him, pulling him out of his comfort zone and introducing him to the other gods, and eventually, to their Lords. Lord Sun was the first one he saw, he was so kind and gentle, smiling at him and saying everything was alright, they ran across the shoreline and laughed to his antics, but Lord Moon, oh Lord Moon, he felt drawn to him like a moth to an open flame, countless nights he spend sleeping in Lord Moon’s lap, even before all of this, he did, he trusted his Lords so much.

When did it all change? When did all become a blur?

He closed his eyes, he knew, he had the responsible one under chains in a dormant volcanic pit in the ocean.

How he hated Chaos.

With a swift move of his hand, the oceans roared once more, a last big cry before being still for a long, long time, for their five hundred year period was over, and now they shall lay in the depths of the palace, being at the mercy of their lords. Oh, his lords, even after all,  he could never hate them, they just had to endure a bit more, they loved them, deep down, they never wanted to cause harm, it was Chaos' fault after all.

The sound of wings made him turn, silver and gold cracks cross his face, the most notorious one was the one that split his face, filled with silver, his crown with the silver moon hanged on his forehead, his big white wings stood proudly behind him, his baby blue robe was slightly wrinkled and he had visible marks on his skin, burn and teeth ones, his fluffy blue hair was in a braid and his eyes bags were heavy, like his deep white eyes.

“Sun?” He asked, only receiving a nood from Sleep, who walked over to Phobos and patted him, before leaving a kiss on Nature’s head.

“Death coming home early lightened their mood, so we must hurry a bit.” He gave them a sleepy smile before kissing them all on the head.

They all nodded and started walking up the mountain, in silence, it wasn’t uncomfortable or awkward, it was just silence, a phrase Death used often to describe it — The few times he had gone with them were awfully accurate.

Not even the dead are this quiet, and yet again, we aren’t dead.”

Ocean looked at Nature sleeping, he cursed internally because they were there because of him, he wanted to see Lord Moon, he had the idea to visit their lords to personally invite them, he should have seen that wicked smile and that creation awful shit eating grin, he should have been more careful, he just wanted to invite their lords to the show the nymphs were making, he was so nervous, Nature accompany him for moral support, like he always did eve since they met, they went up the same mountain he is now and knocked on the door, been received by Lord Moon and his stupidly pretty blond curls and his pretty silver eyes and his dimple smile, they fell for him so quickly they were almost ashamed how easily they were at his feet, and yet again, that was what Lod Moon did, he made you trust him without a shadow of a doubt and you were calm in his presence, you could forget about all the stress that you had, in his arms, everything was alright, he was just that calming and relaxing and sweet.

The way he hugged him and pressed them against his chest, how he cradled them and promised them the world, his lips lay astray against their cheeks, how he felt a burning sensation inside on him, like he was been broken and rebuilt, how his body ached, it was painful but it felt so good.

Nature flashed his lord a nervous gaze, he bit his lip, since when did he have gold on his face?.

“My lord, I have someone to love…” Lord Moon smiled, they should have noticed the red glimpse in his eyes, how his fingers dug deeper into their skin, how they felt like they were being pulled apart.

“Don’t worry, my love, just trust me, yeah?” Nature nodded, almost rhythmically, unable to say no to him, Ocean closed his eyes as he let the sweet light of the Moon embrace him fully.

Phobos nayed, announcing that they had  stopped, before his eyes was the palace, his home, the place were their lords recided, a big marble place, gardens so green and filled with life that you coil tell Nature lived here, so enchanting and hypnotizing it was hard not to look at, the sun and moon on top of the temple, enterwine in one, on the left side, were the Sun was, there was the symbols of love, war, nature and on the side were the Moon was, him —the ocean, sleep and death, they all stood thee proudly, meaning they all loved there.

He sighs, they have arrived.

Love his the first one to open the door, no need to knock, no need to ask for permission, he just does, after all, he his one of the lords consorts, he was Lord Consort Love, gods, mortals and beings bowed down to him, to his eyes and to his smile, he had them all between his pretty fingers filled with gold, he can do as he please. Sleep was quick and took Nature between his arms, pressing him close to his chest as they entered the palace, Phobos was taken by one of the servants to the fields, were he would be with their rest of the horses and pets.

Soft footsteps and the sound of chains been dragged caught their attention, on the top of the flight of stairs, with slight marks on his neck, a hoodie and chains on his wings, stood Death, he seemed tired and wanting to sleep, but he couldn’t, Love gave him a soft smile as he open his arms.

“Come here baby.” Death whimpered, slowly he walked down the flight of stairs and hugged Love, hiding his face in the crook of his neck. “Have you been good?”

“Yeah, arriving early did work…” He mumbled, giggling slightly when he was kissed on the head by the rest, he looked at Nature in Sleep’s arms. “Poppy?”

“And cold.” Sleep answered, Death nodded, Nature always did this, he would take a random poppy flower and fall asleep, his way of coping was odd, but they got it.

“Just half a millenia more… Then, then they are back to normal.” Love assured, feeling the sting on his own wings as the chains and shackles clasped around his ankles and wings, pulling him down slightly. “We can do this.”

“Fuck you, Chaos” War mumbled, they all nodded, Love grunted to the mention of the goddess, how he hated for trusting her.

He and Sleep wee the last to arrive at this little mismash of gods, for they were greving the same thing, the lost of their lovers, Sleep had lost Nature and he had lost War, or Wisdom —as when he met him, he was Wisdom—, they didn’t understand that, they were heartbroken, and Love wanted revenge, because he knew his jagiya wouldn’t leave him just because, he was smarter then that, he was Wisdom for fuck sake! He was much much smarter than to just leave love himself.

“I just don’t get it…” Sleep sobbed, holding his cup of wine close to his lips. “Why did he leave? Did I do something wrong, Minho ?” he slurred eyes filled with tears.

“No… No, it wasn’t you, Binnie .” he whipped his tears away, he had gotten the custom to call him by a cute nickname of the name mortals gave him, Changbin , it was adorable in his eyes. “Don’t cry, please.”

“I miss him, hyung, i miss him so much…” He understood, life without his jagiya was hard, he wanted to give up but no, he knew he wouldn’t leave him.

How he found out Chaos was behind him was such a blur memory he was unsure if his rage could be contained, but he did, all the things happening suddenly started to make sense, and he was mad, he was furious that for the next hundred years he hunted Chaos down, he was going to make him pay for what he did, and he made it everyone's problem.

He stormed the palace one day, Sleep behind him with a puffy eyes and nervous glances to the staff, he had caught Chaos on the river bank side, he chained him up and dragged him up the mountain at dawn, before him stood his lords, Moon and Sun, like he suspected them to be, and he could see, from the very corner of his eyes, peeking like little kids from the railing, his jagiya and the missing gods all in awe of what was about to happen, he saw Wisdom’s eyes fill with fear, he was terrified of what was to come, he was scared of him, as he should, Moon and Sun had unimpressed looks on their face, mostly at Chaos then him and Sleep, Chaos was side eyeing him as he was been held by his collar, a strong grip on  him so he would not flee.

“My lords.” He gave a small curtsy, he presented Chaos to his lords. “I came here to peasant to you someone that has committed treason on the base of manipulating another gods labors.”

“How so, Love?” Lord Sun started to walk down the stairs, Minho couldn’t look away, he was just so mesmerizing, but even so, he could see the red glow, the glow of what Chaos caused when he messes with his arrows, obsession.

There was nothing pure there, nothing he represented, he had tried so hard to keep the infectioness thing out of sight and mind, hearts above all, but Chaos, oh how he was such a fool for trusting Chaos, he was making amends for his mistake.

“He spread obsession, my lords,” Sun eye twitched. “And that has affected my realm, mortals and gods alike have been affected, the obsession… Including you my lords…”

Everyone in that room saw the bright red glow in their eyes, how Moon and Sun faces contorted in such nasty grins it was awful, Sleep was shock upon this confession, and the glow did not help at all, his heart was pounding as Nature stood up from where he was hiding on the stairs, he looked at Love, who looked at him.

They knew what they had to do.

“My lords, it will fade away, but it would take time, so much time, so we're here to strike a deal.”  Love spoke, Chaos looked at him.

“You wouldn’t…” But Love did not budge. “Love!”

“Banish him to where neither of your lights can touch, and we will stay.” Moon picked up on that, Love was, well, love, he knew the rulers started to feel things for them way before, but Chaos and his tampering just caused what they did best, chaos. “We will stay with you, forever, but you must also give us time to do our labors, my lords, mortals are suffering, they need us, they need them, my lords… That's all I ask.”

The Sun looked at the Moon, their red eyes meeting each other.

“Very well,” Moon spoke, Chan , so fitting for him, his sweet smile was towards Jeongin , Ocean blinked. “Innie, would you mind keeping him captive?”

“No my lord, I would not”

Soon, everyone knew, they had some minor gods do their gods so the world would not stop turning, every five hundred years they would be free to roam on the earth and do what they were made to do, but once that was over, they return to them, to Felix and Chan, to the Sun and the Moon, with time, they could see that their lords did love them, Love could see it, they way they acted, the way they spoke.

Changbin was now sitting on Lord Moon’s lap, watching as his domain started to sink in, he smiled, he loved that about his domain, people were at peace, they were safe there with him, he saw Dream do his thing and created worlds of wonders inside their heads.

“Thank you, Channie.” He was rewarded  with a soft kiss, not like the hungry one he met upon arrival.

“Anything for you baby.” The Moon whispered, making chills run down his spine.

Sun was hugging Nature, stroking his hair as Wisdom showed him all the new books he had obtained and helped write, Felix listened attentively, smiling and nodded, Death slumped against his shoulder, falling into a sleep-like state, snoring slightly making Love giggle.

Love could see how obsession was leaving their lords, how the sweet and caring rulers came back to surface, he smiled, even with all of that, with their pain and their tears, they always came back, to them, that’s what happens when you fall in love with the sun and moon.

“Sunshine…” Felix turned his head to his call “Moonlight…” Chan did the same, they were met with the sweet pink eyes of love, smiling at them as he pet one his cats. “We love you.”

The rulers smiled, no red and no glow, just them.

“We love all of you too.”

Yeah, they always came back.
