Chapter 1: you are mine, as i am yours
Chapter Text
Rhaenyra gasped as she lifted her head out the soapy bath water. She slowly wiped the bubbles from her eyes, resting her head back against the copper tub. She stretched out her legs as far as she could, trying to relieve her sore muscles. She had just finished her rut, still tender where she had swelled. A small tap drew her eyes to the door, and Alicent, her closest friend and lady in waiting, peeked her head in.
“Are you alright?” the omega asked.
Rhaenyra smiled, leaning her elbows on the edge of the tub. “I am now.”
Alicent rolled her eyes, taking a seat on a small stool. She had a towel wrapped in her arms. “I’m serious.”
“So am I,” Rhaenyra pouted.
Alicent’s dark eyes narrowed at Rhaenyra, holding out the towel. “You’ve been in there far too long. You are probably all pruny.”
Rhaenyra reached her hand out, wiggling her fingers. “I’m not sure. Can you check for me?”
“Are you still in rut?” Alicent laughed, gently slapping the hand away.
“No,” Rhaenyra rolled her eyes, sinking down into the water with a cheeky grin. After a few moments of silence, her smile faded. “My father wants me to marry Laena Velaryon.”
“I know,” Alicent responded, voice low.
“He only wants me to marry her because she’s a Velaryon. And to keep Daemon away from her.”
Alicent scoffed, “Daemon?”
Rhaenyra smirked, “Yes. They met at…at my mother’s funeral. I swear, I thought Laena was going into rut from how badly she pursued him.”
Alicent shrugged, “How come the king doesn’t want them to marry? Either way, the Velaryon’s would be a part of the royal family.”
“It’s them,” Rhaenyra frowned. “Before Viserys named me heir, they actually encouraged her to marry Daemon, since my father refused to remarry. But once he named me heir…they just want their blood on the throne.”
When she did not hear a response, she looked at her companion. “What’s wrong?”
“Will you marry her?” Alicent whispered, avoiding Rhaenyra’s violet eyes.
“No,” Rhaenyra immediately responded. Alicent’s eyes snapped to hers. “She is my cousin and one of my closest friends, but I do not wish to marry her.”
Alicent’s cheeks grew pink, and she quickly stood, tearing her eyes away from Rhaenyra’s burning gaze. “I will wait for you outside, Rhaenyra.”
She watched in silence as Alicent turned, leaving the towel on the stool she sat on. Rhaenyra watched her red-brown curls bounce as she walked away.
Rhaenyra carefully walked along the stone walls of the Keep, making her way down to the Dragonpit where she knew Daemon would be. The smell of burning meat filled the air; the dragonkeepers must have just fed the dragons. She did not see him with the dragonkeepers, and made her way outside.
Caraxes was being saddled, and Daemon was whispering a Valyrian lullaby to him. The dragon’s red scales were the color of blood, and he quickly noticed Rhaenyra’s presence, his long neck swiveling to stare at her.
“Hello, Rhaenyra,” Daemon said without turning to look at her as she approached.
“Uncle,” she responded, stopping a few yards from him to not startle Caraxes.
He finally turned to her, his long hair swishing behind him. “Has Viserys sent you to convince me to give up Laena?”
She crossed her arms behind her back, smiling up at him as he approached. “No, actually. I wish to speak to you about Laena.”
“Oh?” He said, quirking a brow. “You are going to convince me?”
“No,” Rhaenyra smirked. “I do not wish to marry Laena.”
“Oh,” the alpha repeated, brow dropping. He narrowed his eyes, smirk spreading across his face. “You wish to marry that snake’s daughter.”
Her smile fell, annoyed. “It doesn’t matter. I want to make a deal, Daemon.”
“You know you will just be falling into his hands,” Daemon crossed his arms.
“It doesn't matter,” she bit out.
He held up his hands in surrender. “Fine, fine. What deal?”
Rhaenyra walked past him, shaking her head slowly. “Laena wishes to wed you, and I wish to wed Alicent. However, the Velaryon’s want their blood on the throne, and Otto wants his.”
“Yes,” Daemon agreed, trying to see where the girl was going.
“As heir to the throne, and Laena to Driftmark, I propose that my first child will wed her first child, should they be compatible. That way she will still inherit Driftmark, and both Velaryon and Hightower blood will eventually sit the throne.”
The other alpha scoffed, narrowing his eyes. “And what if I do not want my child to marry that cunt’s grandchild?”
“Because should Alicent agree, that child will also be my child, Daemon,” She glared, meeting his scathing gaze unflinchingly.
He said nothing at first, merely glaring down at the girl. “I shall discuss it with Laena.”
Rhaenyra smirked, “Laena and I have spoken for years that our children will marry each other, ever since we were little girls. And if Alicent did not exist, I would more than happily marry her, uncle.”
His lip curled in a growl, but Rhaenyra cut him off.
“But you do not need to worry. Fly to Driftmark, I am sure Laena will be more than pleased. Once you have her answer, bring her here. The four of us shall present the deal to the King together.”
Two days later, the four of them stood in front of Viserys, Otto, and Corlys Velaryon. Rhaenyra kept glancing at Alicent. She had not told her of her plan, merely that she spoken to Laena about other options than marriage.
Corlys seemed only mildly content, even less so when Rhaenyra dismissed his suggestion of her marrying Laenor. But her father and Otto were both frowning, eyes trained on her.
“And what of you, Rhaenyra?” her father demanded. “You are my heir. You may be an alpha, but you are still a woman. You must marry to ensure your succession, and to produce the child that will marry Laena's.”
“I know, father,” Rhaenyra smiled. “I know who I will marry, a decision I believe will leave your Hand pleased as well.”
She felt Alicent’s warm brown eyes on her, and she almost couldn’t say the words without giggling. “I intend to marry…”
Rhaenyra met Alicent’s eyes, and carefully took her hand in her own. “The Lady Alicent Hightower. If she agrees.”
The girls eyes stared wide back at Rhaenyra’s, but never pulled her hand away. “I-I…of course!” she gasped.
Rhaenyra beamed, reflecting Alicent’s own shocked smile. She controlled the urge to bring her into an embrace, but she quickly turned back to the three men staring them down. Otto was poorly attempting to hide his pleasure, while Viserys just seemed relieved to finally have Rhaenyra betrothed. Corlys was still annoyed, but Laena smiled at her father, grasping his hands.
“Father, this is truly what we want. I can still inherit Driftmark since I will not be here in Kings Landing, but my first child will marry Rhaenyra’s. This way, we are both happy.”
Corlys stared down at his daughter for a long moment before his eyes softened. He glanced up at Rhaneyra and Alicent, closely pressed together, and then to Daemon. He glared at him before rolling his eyes.
“Alright. But your first compatible child will marry Rhaenyra’s. That is absolute, am I understood?”
“Of course, father!” Laena grinned before turning back to Daemon, clutching his hand.
Viserys laughed, clapping his hands together. “It is final! We shall hold both weddings together, and a feast!”
The wedding was beautiful. Rhaenyra and Daemon stood back to back as they spoke their vows to Alicent and Laena, respectively. Rhaenyra draped the golden cloak around Alicent’s shoulders, its shining color bringing out the warmth in her deep brown eyes. When their lips finally touched to seal their vows, neither could contain their smiles.
After the celebrations, both couples were quickly whisked away to their chambers. Alicent and Rhaenyra giggled as the door closed behind them, lips quickly meeting. It was not the first time they had kissed; as children, Rhaenyra had insisted on sharing a peck or two because she wanted to know what it felt like. But this was the first time there was just heat behind their touches.
Rhaenyra carefully pulled away, coming behind Alicent. She gently undid the laces of her dress, and heat pooled between her legs at the little gasps Alicent let out when her fingers brushed against her increasingly exposed skin. Before the dress could be pushed away from her body, Rhaenyra surged forward, pressing a hot kiss to Alicent’s exposed, freckled shoulder. But she suddenly smelled Alicent’s mood shift, no longer heated and wanting.
“What’s wrong?” Rhaenyra whispered, wrapping her arms around Alicent’s waist and resting her chin on her shoulder.
“Daemon will knot Laena tonight,” Alicent whispered.
Rhaenyra frowned, both at the mention of the other alphas, but also her soon-to-be mate’s disappointment. “Yes, I know.”
Alicent turned in Rhaenyra’s arms, resting her arms around her shoulders. “As a female alpha, you cannot knot me outside of your rut.”
Rhaenyra tucked her face into Alicent’s neck, scenting the sweet skin around her mating gland. “I know.”
“Will you not claim me as your mate then?”
Rhaenyra immediately pulled back, her violet eyes meeting Alicent’s. Her heart broke when she saw the tears building in Alicent’s eyes. “Alicent, the next time you leave these room, my mark will be upon your neck, just as yours will be on mine.”
Alicent’s eyes widened. She flushed, shaking her head. “It-it is not customary for an omega to claim an alpha…”
Rhaenyra smiled, pulling Alicent’s hips flush to hers. “When have I ever been known to follow customs? Alicent, I have wanted you to be mine for years. Let me be yours.”
Alicent’s lip trembled, but she rapidly nodded and captured Rhaenyra’s lips in a heated kiss. They continued their path to the bed, their bed, carefully pulling each other’s gowns from their bodies. As Rhaenyra laid Alicent out on the sheets, her soft, plush skin pink from arousal, she smiled down at her.
“Besides, my Lady, I can still make you mine without a knot.”
Alicent squealed when Rhaenyra swiped her tongue over her folds. She was already dripping with slick, but Rhaenyra just pushed further, the taste addicting. The princess had never tasted anything as good, and her hands came around Alicent’s shaking thighs to grip her hips, keeping her still as she buried her tongue into Alicent’s center.
Alicent moaned, her normally gentle fingers dug painfully into Rhaenyra’s forearm, the other woven into her silver locks. She clenched around the slick muscle inside of her, and she whimpered when Rhaenyra moaned, the vibration sending a spark of heat up her spine.
When Rhaenyra slowly dragged her tongue up Alicent’s slit and flicked against the sensitive nub, Alicent gasped, back arching. Rhaenyra immediately latched on, sucking and flicking her tongue against the omega's clit. Alicent felt her body flood with warmth as if she was in heat, and her toes curled as Rhaenyra relentlessly continued.
“Rhaenyra!” Alicent gasped, crying out when the girl moaned around her clit. Her thighs shook as slick gushed from her and her orgasm flooded her body. She could feel her teeth sharpen when the smell of Rhaenyra’s own arousal hit her nose. Alicent looked down, the omega in her singing when she saw the alpha licking up her slick and grinding her own hips against the sheets.
“Rhaenyra,” she whispered, shaking hand cupping her face, guiding her eyes to hers. Rhaenyra’s pupils were blown wide, and Alicent could see the slight point of her own fangs between her shiny, panting lips. During their heat and rut, their fangs would fully extend for its entirety, but now, their need for each other and desire to claim a mate brought them out.
The princess scrambled up, roughly pressing their lips together in a wet kiss. Alicent moaned at the taste of herself on Rhaenyra’s tongue, and she felt Rhaenyra’s own wetness as she grinded herself against Alicent’s damp thigh.
“I’m sorry,” Rhaenyra growled out, lifting her hips, but Alicent’s hands steadied her.
“Why are you sorry?”
“I cannot knot you. You do not have to pleasure me, Alicent,” she whispered.
Alicent frowned before playfully bearing her fangs. Even though Rhaenyra was an alpha, Alicent was slightly taller and heavier. She pushed the girl back, flipping them over. Rhaenyra gasped, her eyes wide as she stared up at the grinning omega.
“If you can claim me, I can claim you. You said so yourself, princess.”
Rhaenyra swallowed, panting as Alicent’s careful hand ghosted over her pale skin. Her fingertips brushed over her nipple, and she indulgently gave the small breast a squeeze. The alpha in Rhaenyra screamed at her to do something, so she mimicked Alicent’s touch and stroked her thumb over Alicent’s breast.
But her touches came to stop when Alicent’s fingers dipped beneath her folds, carefully stroking the tender skin. Rhaenyra gasped, her other arm wrapping around Alicent to keep her pressed against her body, needing to feel her warmth. She groaned, dragging her lip between her sharp teeth when one of Alicent’s thin fingers slipped inside her.
Alicent watched in mouth watering fascination at the way Rhaenyra’s stomach heaved with every breath, her perfect hips pushing against Alicent’s hand. The heel of her palm was pressed right against Rhaenyra’s clit, and with every thrust of her finger, the alpha rolled her hips into the pressure.
Alicent yelped when Rhaenyra suddenly readjusted her, rolling them onto each other’s sides and yanking Alicent’s leg over her hip as she propped her own up. One look at Rhaenyra’s face told her she was close, but before she could quicken her pace to bring her mate to orgasm, Rhaenyra’s own fingers slipped back between her legs, one slipping inside with no resistance.
The omega almost sobbed, throwing her head back as Rhaenyra quickly added a second finger, filling her and soothing the rapidly building heat in her lower stomach. The alpha latched her lips onto Alicent’s neck, nipping and sucking at the flawless skin, and trailing down to her breast. She bucked her hips, needing the omega to continue her own touches.
Their gasps and moans echoed around the room as they both thrusted their fingers and rolled their hips, desperate to please their mate while also chasing their own finish. Alicent whined when heard the soft squelching of her slick around Rhaenyra’s fingers as she brought her to her peak. Her legs shook, but she willed her own hand to keep moving, the sound of Rhaenyra’s moans and growls in her ear only pushing her closer to orgasm.
But Rhaenyra’s core clenched around her fingers first, her own wetness gushing around them. Before Alicent could take another breath, Rhaenyra lunged forward, free hand steadying her as she finally sunk her teeth into Alicent’s mating gland. She growled around the bloody flesh as her hips bucked wildly, a wave of dragonfire rushing over her body as she came onto Alicent’s fingers.
Alicent practically screamed when Rhaenyra bit her. It ached, but it pushed her over the edge, legs shaking as more slick soaked Rhaenyra’s hand. She moaned as she came, clenching tightly around the princess’s fingers as the fire in her belly flared up before washing over her. With an insistent push of Rhaenyra’s hand on the back of her neck, Alicent bared her fangs, following her instincts and plunging them into Rhaenyra’s pale skin. Her blood flooded her mouth, and they both weakly moaned into their bites as they fell back down from their high.
On any normal occasion, Alicent would be appalled at the amount of blood and slick spread across their bodies. But as she rested her head on Rhaenyra’s soft chest and listened to her gentle heartbeat with their legs intertwined, her primal instincts couldn’t help but be pleased.
Rhaenyra was carefully threading her fingers through Alicent’s curls, damp with sweat and a little bit of blood. Her own mating gland ached, as she sure Alicent’s did as well, but it also hummed with pleasure from the mutual bond. Rhaenyra couldn’t imagine not having her omega’s mark on her.
She was always confused when her mother had tried to explain that an alpha can have multiple mates of any status, but it was unusual for an omega to claim anyone other than another omega. Even betas, who did not even experience heats or ruts, could claim multiple mates, except an alpha. Aemma had said it was only normal for an alpha to claim another alpha.
“That’s stupid,” Rhaenyra pouted, crossing her arms and slouching in her seat. Her mother laughed, stroking a hand over her round belly. Another babe that would be lost.
“Perhaps one day you can change things, my dear,” she said, brushing Rhaenyra’s messy hair back from her eyes. “But for now, this is how things are.”
“What are you thinking about?” Alicent’s sleepy voice said, pulling her from her thoughts.
Rhaenyra smiled, nosing Alicent’s hair and breathing in her scent. “Just how happy I am.”
She felt Alicent smile against her skin, and Rhaenyra maneuvered them under the covers, cuddling close together and reveling in the other’s warmth.

chapter warnings!: mild smut, mentions of miscarriage, insecurity, low self-esteem, self-image issues.
from this point on, the story will overall take a expositional tone? is that the right word? like a history, ya know? make sense? obviously there are still some scenes that aren't like that, but overall.

Chapter Text
A moon after their wedding, both Rhaenyra’s rut and Alicent’s heat begun. Their bond made it so their natural mating cycles aligned, creating the perfect window to conceive a child.
Alicent cried the first time Rhaenyra knotted her, not from pain, but from the rush of overwhelming love she felt through their bond. She clutched Rhaenyra’s shoulders as the other girl shook above her, helping each other ride out the blinding pleasure wracking through their bodies. While a female’s knot was much smaller than a male’s, Alicent’s inner muscles had also tightened around Rhaenyra as she came, locking them together.
After her alpha stopped shaking, Alicent cupped her cheek and brushed her damp hair from her sweaty skin. They were on the third day of their mating cycles, and no doubt Alicent was already with child. In a moment of clarity before the next wave hit them, Rhaenyra smiled, her violet eyes shining.
“Avy jorrāelan,” Rhaenyra whispered.
Alicent smiled apologetically, not understanding the words. “I don’t-I don’t understand, Rhaenyra.”
Rhaenyra smiled wider, “I love you, Alicent.”
Alicent’s heart swelled, eyes glistening with tears. “H-how do you say it again?”
The princess repeated the Valyrian words slower this time, eyes softening in adoration as Alicent dutifully watched her lips and mimicked the movement as she mouthed the words.
“Avy… jor-rāel-an,” Alicent repeated quietly.
Rhaenyra smiled, nodding happily, “Avy jorrāelan.”
“Avy jorrāelan,” the omega said again, smile wide, and she nuzzled her nose against her alpha’s as she felt the familiar warmth settling in her stomach. Rhaenyra could smell the change, and without hesitation, crashed her lips to Alicent’s once more. She turned them, covering the older girl’s body with her own and grabbing her thigh to make enough room to sink back into her omega’s burning heat.
Two moons later, it was confirmed by maesters that Alicent was now pregnant, and Rhaenyra had to practically be restrained from throwing her wife over her shoulder in excitement. On their visit, Laena and Daemon were disappointed to announce that they still had not been successful, but it was normal for female alphas to have a harder time conceiving. One look from Daemon told Rhaenyra that he did not mind having to try as often as they did.
Seven moons later, Rhaenyra sat behind Alicent in their nest, looking over her shoulder at the little bundle in her arms. A beautiful baby boy with curly silver hair and violet eyes gurgled up at them, waving his little round arms at them.
“He’s perfect, issa jorrāelagon,” Rhaenyra whispered into Alicent’s ear. Alicent smiled with watery eyes, clutching him to her chest. She sniffled, and Rhaenyra reached around to carefully swipe away her tears. She had given birth only a few hours ago, and to the relief of Rhaenyra, it was an easy birth. She was now cleaned up and curled in her nest with her mate.
“He’s our baby boy. What shall be his name?” Alicent asked thickly.
Rhaenyra pondered for a little, letting her own tears freely fall from her cheeks. “Aegon,” she whispered. “After the Conqueror.”
Alicent chuckled, “A perfect name for a perfect babe. His muña will be Queen of the Seven Kingdoms one day, and he will follow in her footsteps.”
The princess smiled, hugging her mate and child tighter to her body as more happy tears welled in her eyes.
Rhaenyra smiled as she and Laena walked among the castle gardens. She and Daemon, as well as the other Velaryons, were visiting for a tourney held in Alicent’s honor. She was due with their second child any day now, but Rhaenyra was nervous. She had almost rejected her father’s idea of throwing a tourney, the memory of her mother’s own death coming to mind. But Alicent had reassured her that everything would be fine, convincing her to spend time with her cousin.
Laena was also heavily pregnant, but the alpha was getting restless. A moon after Aegon’s birth, Laena had announced she was pregnant finally, and their families had held a feast in her and Daemon’s honor. But tragedy struck only a few short weeks later, and they lost the baby.
Laena had been despondent, and Rhaenyra had cried hearing her cousin say such awful things about herself, blaming her alpha status for her miscarriage. It was a known fact that alpha females had a harder time conceiving and carrying, but the pain was too much to bear for Laena. It was only after Daemon whisked her off to Essos to get away from it all that she agreed to try again. She was only six moons pregnant, but she looked as big as Alicent, and everyone suspected they were having twins. When they initially found out, Daemon refused to let Laena go flying, and according to her, do much of anything. Even though she constantly complained how annoying it was, Rhaenyra and Alicent could both tell she was just as worried as Daemon, and happily followed his orders with little pushback.
Aegon was just about a year old now, and Rhaenyra had initially wanted to wait before Alicent fell pregnant again, but her wife was insistent that she wanted another babe, so the princess relented when their next mating cycle began a few moons after Aegon’s birth. All of them were excited for Laena to give birth to hopefully make an official betrothal. If her babes were male, then they would have to wait until both Aegon and her child presented. If at least one of them were a girl, a betrothal could be set immediately.
“Princess!” a young maid called, running down the path. “Your Lady wife has begun her labors!”
Rhaenyra gasped, mumbling an apology to Laena as she ran off to the castle, ordering the young girl to escort her cousin back to her quarters for rest. The tourney wasn’t until tomorrow, so thankfully Rhaenyra would not be expected to make an appearance while Alicent was bringing their child into the world.
Female omegas had the easiest time giving birth, and even though Alicent almost broke Rhaenyra’s hand grasping it through the pain, her labors were over in a few short hours. Unlike Aegon, this babe was quiet as they finally made their way into the world, and both wives felt their hearts stop until a small whimper filled the room.
Alicent sobbed in relief, and Rhaenyra tucked her head into her wife’s neck for a moment before shakily asking the maester, “Is the babe alright?”
He smiled at the princess, watching where the midwives were rapidly cleaning the babe off. “She seems perfectly healthy, Princess. Perhaps a bit shy to the world, but no need to worry.”
“She?” Alicent gasped. A new wave of tears flooded down her face as the babe was handed to her, bundled up in a clean violet blanket. Rhaenyra curled closer to Alicent’s side, unable to stop her own sobs as she brushed the curly silver hair from the babe’s eyes. She shared the same hair as Aegon, but her eyes were more of a lavender than a deep violet like Rhaenyra’s and Aegon’s.
“She is yours to name, issa jorrāelagon,” Rhaenyra whispered, nuzzling Alicent’s cheek. “I named Aegon, so you choose her name.”
Alicent sniffled, cradling the infant closer to her chest. “I-I know that you have always spoken of naming our baby Visenya if they were a girl, but I…” more tears fell from her eyes as sadness overtook her. The babe in her arms also began to cry, reacting to her mother’s emotion.
“Do not think about what I want, issa jorrāelagon,” Rhaenyra demanded, her voice soft as she also tried to calm the fussing babe. “I know you have spoken about naming one of our children after your own dear mother.”
“If you agree, I would change it to make to more Valyrian.”
Rhaenyra’s other hand cupped Alicent’s face, making her mate meet her eyes. “I will agree to whatever you wish. You are my wife and my mate, the mother of my children. Even if you did not wish to change it, I will love it either way, because the name came from you.”
Alicent sobbed, and Rhaenyra cupped her head to her chest as she cried, trying to soothe her wife. After a moment, Alicent sniffled and pulled back, a happy smile spread across her face as she looked down at the babe in her arms.
“Helaena, after my mother, but with an ‘ae.’” she said softly, gazing down at the now calmed babe in her arms. “Hello, Helaena.”
Two and a half moons later, Rhaenyra received word that Laena had given birth to twins, just as everyone expected. They were both girls, with dark skin, coils of white hair, and dark violet eyes. King Viserys immediately announced the betrothal of Aegon and the eldest twin, Baela, who Daemon named in honor of his and Viserys’ father. Rhaena, the younger twin, was named for Laena’s mother, Rhaenys. Both Rhaenyra and Laena agreed to try and visit as often as possible, wanting their children to grow up knowing each other.
After her heat returned, Alicent agreed to wait another heat cycle before letting Rhaenyra knot her again. At first, Rhaenyra was confused; Alicent had been so eager the first time. It wasn’t until Alicent had shyly asked Rhaenyra to not join her for her heat that the princess finally snapped, demanding to know what was wrong. To her horror, Alicent broke down in tears, hiding herself in her nest that had become a more permanent addition to their bed. Rhaenyra carefully crawled in, stopping just short of the blanket thrown over Alicent when she heard the omega’s warning growl.
“Please, issa jorrāelagon, tell me what is wrong,” Rhaenyra begged.
An incoherent mumble came from beneath the blanket, and Rhaenyra frowned. “I cannot hear you, Alicent.”
Alicent threw the blanket from her face, her normally warm brown eyes blazing with anger, “I am ugly! I have not recovered quite so quickly this time, and-and-“
Her face crumbled, curling in on herself. Rhaenyra’s heart broke, her own eyes stinging.
“How could you say such a thing?” She gasped, moving closer to Alicent and ignoring her growl. “You are my mate, issa jorrāelagon, the love of my life!”
“But I-“ Alicent gasped. “After Aegon, I still looked relatively the same, but now, I look like this!”
“Like what?” Rhaenyra demanded, cradling Alicent closer to her. “Like the most beautiful omega? Like a wonderful mother? Like my perfect wife?”
Alicent sobbed, “I don’t feel beautiful anymore.”
“But you are, issa jorrāelagon,” Rhaenyra gasped, lifting Alicent’s chin with her hand. “I would carry our children if I could, but I did not say it lightly when I said you were the most beautiful omega, Alicent.”
“But how?” She whimpered.
Rhaenyra carefully guided Alicent until she was laying on her back. She met Alicent’s eyes for silent permission as her hands hovered over the buttons of her night gown. Alicent’s lip trembled, and she hid her face in a pillow, but nodded. After slowly undoing her gown, Rhaenyra opened it up to either side of her wife, revealing her body.
“How could you not be?” Rhaenyra said breathlessly as her eyes roamed shamelessly over her mate’s body. “Here,” she started, gentle fingers grazing the fine stretch marks on Alicent’s hips and inner thighs. “Is where you have grown as you carried our children. Your skin is so soft, and I cannot stop thinking of digging my fingers into your lovely thighs.”
She emphasized her words with a firm grab of Alicent’s thighs and hips, her eyes fluttering shut at the plush, squeezable flesh beneath her fingers. She continued to massage Alicent’s body with indulgence, even leaning down to place small kisses along the new lines of pearlescent skin.
Alicent gasped, feeling the warmth of adoration through their bond. She peeked from the pillow to watch Rhaenyra.
“Here,” the alpha continued, hands sliding upward to Alicent’s stomach. “I could never imagine thinking you were ugly, because this is where you carried our children for nine moons.”
The once flat and taut stomach was now softer from months of being stretched. Like her thighs, Alicent now had thin vertical lines of pearlescent skin across her plush stomach. Some marks were still a dark purple from her recent pregnancy, and Rhaenyra wasted no time in massaging the soft skin, leaving delicate kisses around Alicent’s belly button.
“I know I gave you my seed, but you grew another life here,” Rhaenyra said, voice thick. “You carried our babies here. I never thought I could love you more than I already had, but everyday you grew heavier with our children, so did my love for you.”
Alicent held in a sob, unable to say anything in response as Rhaenyra kept running her fingertips over her skin and pressing her lips to her stomach. Every word she said made Alicent’s heart swell, and she couldn’t keep it in, and it escaped through her tears.
Once Rhaenyra felt sufficiently satisfied, although she knew it wouldn’t be for long, her hands continued upward, and she moved to straddle Alicent as her hands ghosted over her wife’s swollen breasts.
“And here is where I am entirely selfish,” Rhaenyra whispered. She knew Alicent’s breasts were still sore from her milk, but her alpha brain took over for a moment as she gave them a shameless squeeze. “When you carried Aegon, it took all of my willpower to not constantly take you to our rooms to strip you of your dress and touch you here. You grew so full, somehow even more perfect than you were before. Even after your milk was gone for that brief time before Helaena, you stayed fuller.”
The alpha traced the small white lines radiating from Alicent’s dark nipple. “These only made you softer, plusher, and I still find myself wanting to just hold you in my hands and feel you.”
Alicent watched in teary awe as Rhaenyra’s eyes grew slightly more glazed as she fondled her breasts.
“I remember being so ashamed the first few weeks you fed Aegon, because I felt almost jealous that I could not also have you in that way,” Rhaenyra whispered so low that Alicent almost didn’t hear it. The omega smiled; the information was not new to her. Even if she did not feel it through their bond, so miniscule as the feeling was, Alicent could tell by the gleam in Rhaenyra’s eyes as she watched her feed Aegon from her breast.
“You can have me in that way,” Alicent shyly said, cheeks aflame.
“Not now,” Rhaenyra said, eyes clear again. She carefully brushed her thumb over Alicent’s already peaked nipple. “Not until you understand how beautiful you are. I will not use you in such a way.”
Alicent’s eyes filled with fresh tears, and she reached her hand up to stroke her thumb across Rhaenyra’s cheek to make the princess meet her eyes.
“I do understand, now,” Alicent whispered. She pressed her fingers to the back of Rhaenyra’s neck, guiding her down to press their lips together in a tender kiss. The alpha moaned into her mouth, brows arched in need. Alicent’s heat would not fully begin for another few hours, and even though Rhaenyra was already feeling her rut under her skin, she carefully laid next to her wife and mate. They fell into a light doze, and their lips tiredly brushed together in barely-there kisses, their bond thrumming through them.

Chapter Text
Alicent stared silently at her wife and Lady Laena as the two women sat across from each other, the twins and Aegon playing closely as Helaena rested in Rhaenyra’s arms. Alicent’s own hands were wrapped around her large belly. She was trying to hide her own sour mood, not wanting her mate to worry. But another kick had her hand clutching her side, and Rhaenyra’s eyes immediately snapped to hers.
“Are you alright?” she asked worryingly.
Alicent only stood, stroking a soothing hand over her stomach. “I am fine. This one is merely rambunctious. An alpha at heart, I believe.”
“Let me walk you to our rooms,” Rhaenyra said, coming to Alicent’s side, but Alicent pulled away.
“No need. I do not want to pull you from our company. I was probably too dull anyway,” she said blankly as she left the room.
Rhaenyra frowned after her wife, unsure of what happened. Aegon stumbled over, and she immediately picked him up, leaning him on her hip.
“Is everything alright?” Laena asked from where she sat near her daughters.
“I am not sure,” she answered honestly. “I know I have upset her, but I am not sure how.”
Laena smiled, “If I may offer my suggestion, cousin.”
Rhaenyra turned, nodding. “Of course, Laena. Yes?”
“Perhaps she feels jealous,” Laena shrugged, offering a toy to Helaena.
“Jealous? Of what?” Rhaenyra questioned, sitting on the soft cushion of the couch.
Laena sighed, “Jealous wasn’t the right word…left out maybe.”
“We spend every day together!” Rhaenyra exclaimed, clutching Aegon closer to her. “I do not want her to feel alone.”
“It was merely a suggestion. You should be asking her these questions, Rhaenyra.”
The princess said nothing, frowning slightly as she carefully brushed a few loose strands of hair from Aegon’s eyes. Her heart clenched tightly in her chest when his own chubby hand slowly stroked over her own hair, mimicking her motions. She pulled him close to her chest, hugging him tightly before carefully setting him back next to the twins and excusing herself from the room.
“I do not wish for you to feel alone,” Rhaenyra said. Alicent jumped, turning around in her plush chair.
“I do not understand,” Alicent said quietly, turning away from her wife.
Rhaenyra came around, kneeling on the floor in front of her. “Tell me what I can do, issa jorrāelagon.”
Alicent frowned, feeling annoyance twitch in her brow. “There is nothing you can do, Nyra. It is just the way of things.”
“What is the way of things?” Rhaenyra demanded.
“I am merely an omega!” Alicent exclaimed. “It is natural for you to flock towards other alphas.”
“Do you speak of me and Laena?” Rhaenyra asked.
Alicent sighed, but another ache rippled through her side. She winced, and Rhaenyra pushed closer.
“Yes, I do,” Alicent sighed. “I know it is wrong of me to feel this way, but I can’t help but think you enjoy her company more than mine.”
Rhaenyra’s face crumbled. “Why would you ever feel that way? You-you are everything to me!”
Alicent groaned, throwing her head back on the cushions. “Because she is an alpha. I do not doubt your loyalty to me, Rhaenyra. I just…” her face fell, and she sighed again. “I feel as though I am boring. And no one wants to hear of the woes of a whiny omega.”
“How dare you say such a thing?” Rhaenyra growled. Alicent’s eyes snapped to hers in shock, not expecting the aggressive tone from her mate. “You are not boring, do you understand? I will happily and eagerly listen to you all day if you wished it.”
Alicent frowned, but she saw only sheer honesty behind her mate’s eyes. She nodded, eyes softening. But before she could speak, Rhaenyra continued.
“And I am so sorry if I have ever made you feel such a way,” she said, voice soft. Her hand come up, stroking Alicent’s knee.
“It was nothing you did on purpose. It’s just my hormones and this restless babe,” She mumbled.
“It doesn’t matter. I do not care the reason, it does not change how you feel, Alicent.”
Alicent’s chest felt lighter, and she stroked her thumb over Rhaenyra’s hand on her leg. She smiled in relief, but the moment lasted only a moment before she huffed in annoyance. Her hand rubbed circles into her lower stomach, right over her bladder where the babe was currently shoving their foot.
“I know this one will be an alpha, I swear it,” Alicent grumbled, standing up to make her way to her bath chambers. “You alphas can never sit still.”
Rhaenyra grinned after her wife, who only threw an annoyed glare over her shoulder as she pulled the bath doors shut.
Rhaenyra practically screamed in happiness when Jacaerys was born with the same dark features of Alicent. After an extended conversation assuring Alicent that their son was just as Valyrian with brown hair and eyes, Alicent finally agreed to present him to their fathers.
Their next son, Aemond, had the same silver hair and violet eyes of his muña, but his eyes were an icy purple. Like Helaena, he was a quiet babe, and he quickly took to reading and began speaking much earlier than his other siblings, even though he did not speak much. He was two when Alicent brought another son into the world, Lucerys. Like his mother, he had curly brown hair and large brown eyes, and Aemond quickly became attached to the babe. And as Lucerys grew, Rhaenyra and Alicent realized that the feeling was mutual.
Laena and Daemon waited many years before they had more children. When the twins were five, Laena delivered a boy that she named Corryn, after her father. It was when Alicent fell pregnant again after Lucerys that Laena discovered she was as well, and Rhaenyra felt her heart swell at how they bonded during the time.
Laena's babe came early, and both she and Daemon agreed that they would not risk having more children when she almost died along with their child. She was bedridden for weeks. Rhaenyra had cried, not only for her dear cousin, but also when the couple revealed to her they named their son Rhaegal after her.
Only a moon after Rhaegal was born, Alicent and Rhaenyra welcomed a baby girl with silver hair and Rhaenyra’s violet eyes. The moment the maester revealed the babe was a girl, “Visenya” slipped from Alicent’s tired lips. Rhaenyra cried, kissing her wife and praising the gods for delivering the babe and keeping Alicent safe. She thanked Alicent endlessly, even though the woman wasn’t quite sure what Rhaenyra was thanking her for.
After introducing Visenya to their other children, Rhaenyra brought Alicent back to their chambers, the babe cradled in her arms. As Alicent settled in bed, and Rhaenyra carefully lay Visenya in the cradle, the princess turned to her wife.
“No more, Alicent.”
Alicent frowned, “What do you mean?”
Rhaenyra curled up next to her wife, resting her head on Alicent’s shoulder, seeking her comfort. “After seeing what happened to Laena…I-I can’t risk you, Alicent.”
Alicent playfully rolled her eyes. “I appreciate your concern, but Laena is an alpha. It’s always been more difficult for her. It’s…" She shook her head, "My body is made for this, Rhaenyra.”
“I don’t care!” Rhaenyra exclaimed, violet eyes blazing. “You are my wife, not just a broodmare. Omega’s have died in childbirth too, Alicent! I will not risk it.”
Alicent cupped Rhaenyra’s face, “I know you are scared, but-“
“Please,” Rhaenyra said, her voice cracking. “You have given me six beautiful children. I know you could still carry more, but that doesn’t mean you should. I did not marry you just for heirs. I married you because I love you, Alicent. Please.”
Alicent searched Rhaenyra’s eyes for a long moment before she nodded. She smiled, her eyes watering as she captured her wife’s lips in a kiss.

Chapter Text
A year after Visenya was born, Lucerys turned four and officially declared that he was now betrothed to his brother, Aemond. The six-year-old beamed, picking Lucerys up and spinning him around, albeit with a little struggle.
“Where did this come from?” Alicent gasped, a small smile playing on her lips.
The two boys stopped giggling, beaming up at their mother, “Aegon and Baela are marrying! So, we can marry too!”
Rhaenyra giggled at her sons, adjusting her skirts to sit on the floor next to them. “You wish to marry?”
They nodded eagerly. Aegon, who sat at the table frowning at a chess set with a smug Baela on the other side, rolled his eyes at his younger brothers. “Gross.”
Rhaenyra smirked, raising a brow at her son as her wife leaned over next to him. “Why is it gross, Aegon?”
He groaned, “Because they are so mushy with each other! All lovey-dovey and stuff.”
“What’s so wrong with being mushy?” Baela demanded, crossing her arms, and the women had to repress their laughter at the little girl’s indignant expression.
Despite his betrothed’s annoyance, the boy still rolled his eyes. “It’s just annoying how loud they are about it.”
“You’re just jealous that Aemond likes me, but Baela doesn’t like you!” Luke yelled. Rhaenyra gasped, poorly hiding her chuckle, receiving a light slap on the shoulder from her wife.
“Baela likes me a lot, you brat!” Aegon pouted. “Right, Baela?!”
The girl said nothing. At eight, she already had her father’s sass, and she raised a tiny brow before moving a piece on the board.
Both Aemond and Lucerys laughed, and Aegon grabbed a random piece from the board to throw at them. The two boys ducked behind their muña, while their mother tried to calm Aegon. But the boy wasn’t listening; he had noticed the mischievous smile on his cousin’s face, and he was grinning ear to ear at Baela’s silent amusement.
“Settle down, all of you!” Alicent said, hands out to calm them.
“Let’s get back to what we were talking about,” Rhaenyra smiled, sharing a glance with her wife. “So, you two wish to marry?”
Aemond and Luke walked out from behind their muña, hands clasped. Both women had to keep their faces still when Aemond’s smile dropped, seriousness that shouldn’t be allowed on a six-year-old’s face taking over.
“Yes,” he said.
Rhaenyra sighed, knowing her next words were going to crush the boys’ hearts. “Boys…due to your primary genders, a betrothal cannot be made. We would have to wait until you both presented.”
“And,” Alicent cut in. “You are brothers.”
Rhaenyra could tell by the tone of her voice that her wife’s strict religious upbringing was currently seizing her mind. But before she could gently remind her that they were Targaryens, Aemond frowned at his mother.
“King Jaehaerys married his sister! And Prince Baelon married his sister!”
Rhaenyra smiled at her son. He had clearly done his research before the two had addressed this to them. “Exactly,” She said carefully. “Sister. There is a chance, a large chance, that a union between you two would be fruitless.”
“What does that mean?” Lucerys asked, tilting his head of curls a little in confusion.
This time, Rhaenyra couldn’t help the smile as she stroked her thumb across his rosy cheek. “You will understand when you are older, my sweet boy.”
It was two years later when their normally sweet relationship turned violent. It started when Aegon, who had recently claimed Sunfyre, roped in Jacaerys and Lucerys to prank Aemond for his lack of dragon. Both Jace and Luke had their eggs hatch in their cradles, and while Aegon’s and Helaena’s hadn’t, they claimed Sunfyre and Dreamfyre easy enough. Baela’s dragon had hatched, named Moondancer, and Rhaena was promised Vhagar after Laena.
So, when Aemond stared down at the pig with fake wings wrapped around it’s belly, led in by Lucerys, he felt hatred towards the boy in front of him.
“Isn’t he cute?” Luke asked innocently, but he laughed along with the harsh digs from their eldest brother.
Aemond said nothing, running from the dragon pit. While Aegon and Jacaerys had stayed behind, playing with the pig, Luke had chased after Aemond. He had been shocked by Aemond’s hurt. He didn’t know Aemond would have been so upset.
But when Aemond knocked him to the ground, a flaring aching pain across his nose, something snapped in him as well. He shot up, not feeling the pain as he tackled his brother, and the two rolled in the grass, dangerously close to the thorny rose bushes lining the path. Just as a guard ran over to break them up, Lucerys shoved Aemond face first into the bushes.
He was only playing around with the pig.
He was only trying to get him to stop.
He only wanted the thorns to scratch him.
This is what he sobbed as Aemond screamed as he was whisked away to the maesters. Blood, watery blood, too much blood, poured from Aemond’s face. Their screaming caught the attention of their parents, who quickly rushed to the scene.
Luke was heaving by the end of the night. He couldn’t stop crying. Not because of the pain blooming across his face, or even when the maester reset his nose. But because Aemond refused to look at him.
Aemond’s left eye was gone. When he fell into the bush, one of the thorny branches caught his cheek and whipped up across his eye. The maester had to remove the ruined eye and stitch up the extending torn skin.
Their parents had questioned them both, and admonished Aegon, Jacaerys, and Luke for the prank on Aemond. The king had made them both swear that this incident would not tear their family apart, but Lucerys did not care about anyone else but Aemond.
“Aemond?” Lucerys quietly asked as he peeked his head into his brother’s quarters. It was the middle of the night, and after a nightmare, he could no longer stay away.
“Go away,” Aemond answered from the heap of blankets on his bed. Lucerys immediately began crying, running over to the side of Aemond’s bed that he faced. His face ached from the tissues still stuffed in his nose.
“I’m so sorry!” Lucerys hiccupped, hands reaching out for Aemond. “I didn’t mean it, I didn’t mean it!”
“Go away!” Aemond demanded. “I don’t care if you meant it or not, Luke!”
Luke’s small legs gave out as he loudly sobbed next to Aemond’s bed. “Please don’t hate me! Please don’t hate me! I’m so sorry!”
“Stop crying! I don’t hate you!” Aemond frowned as he peeked over the side of the bed. Lucerys gasped, looking up at his brother, but Aemond quickly disappeared under the blankets again.
“You don’t hate me?” Lucerys cried. He crawled up onto the bed, but Aemond scooted away, not facing Luke.
After a moment, Aemond sighed. “No. But I want to. You pushed me,” he said, voice cracking.
“You hit me too!” Luke sobbed.
“Because you laughed at me! You brought me a pig!” Aemond shot back.
“I’m sorry!” Lucerys cried. He clutched Aemond’s shoulder, trying to get him to turn towards him, but Aemond shrugged him off. “I’m sorry, Aemond! I’m so sorry! Do you hate me?”
His chest hurt from sobbing, and Aemond groaned angrily, “I already said I don’t! I don’t hate you! I’m mad at you, you brat!”
Lucerys said nothing. Several long minutes passed until he was only sniffling, still wiping at his face. “Then why are you ignoring me?”
“I’m not,” Aemond said quietly.
“Can I see?” Lucerys sniffed.
“No!” Aemond exclaimed, and Lucerys jumped at his volume. “I’m ugly! All because of you!”
Without hesitation, Lucerys threw himself on his brother, clumsily falling to the other side and not giving Aemond the room to turn away. Aemond stared at him wide-eyed with the one he had left, and Lucerys began quietly crying.
He carefully lifted his hand up, gently touching the swollen skin around the stitches. “I don’t think you are ugly,” he whispered.
Aemond’s good eye watered, and he shoved his right eye into his pillow to wipe the tears away. “I don’t know if I can forgive you.”
Lucerys’ tiny body shook with another sob, but he solemnly nodded. “That’s okay. I love you.”
Aemond said nothing, but after a moment he scooted closer to his brother, and Lucerys curled himself up under Aemond’s chin.
Rhaenyra and Alicent found them like that in the morning. After that, the two brothers fought more, and as they got older those fights almost always drew blood. But that passion also reflected in their attachment to each other, which only grew stronger. Their violent nature occasionally scared both Rhaenyra and Alicent, but Daemon once told them that they both had the blood of the dragon running through their veins, something they had both spilt from the other. In the gods eyes, Aemond and Lucerys were fated.
