Chapter 1: Chapter 1
Chapter Text
They're not sure how long they've been in an orphanage for, but they have been for as far as they can remember.
Sun and Moon never knew who their real parents were and they never will try too find out, they both agreed if they didn't want them then they don't need them either.
They like the orphanage they've spent all their life in, but the other children do not like them at all, the older ones bully the twins because Sun was too loud and Moon was a 'freak', they didn't really care that much unless it came to the younger kids, they loved- no, adored! Children, but when it came to it they all hide from them since they find the twins scary.
The two of them have only been adopted 4 times in all their years, no one wants to adopt twins, especially 16 year old twins, the only times they were adopted were at age 5 to 8 but all those times the people who adopted them were assholes, the last time they were adopted they almost died, the man and woman were sadistic and forced the twins into robot suits, if the neighbours hadn't called the police after hearing the boys screaming they would be dead... they have the scars all along their bodies from being impaled by spring-locks inside the suits which isn't the happiest reminder so they try to cover them with whatever clothing they can.
Not only do they have the scars as a reminder, but Suns eye was also damaged, he can still see with it but it was now and permanently completely white, you can't see his pupil or iris, its just white. The orphanage owner gave Sun an eyepatch to cover it.
Sun and Moon sit behind a bush at the far back of the orphanage backyard, this became their spot as to not scare the littler ones playing in the backyard themselves. They went wondering for daisys and now are making daisy chains.
"I heard Diana got adopted today," Sun says as he threads a daisy, "I hope they're nice."
"Eh, and if they're not we'll be here when she gets sent back," Moon says, "Not like she'd want us anywhere near her."
"Shes only five, Moony, she doesn't even know who we are."
"But she knows to be afraid of us."
"Because she believes what everyone tells her," Sun says, picking up another daisy, "Miss Chica had told us shes trying to show everyone we're good, but she hasn't made any progress..."
"Miss Chica is the only one who talks, well, talks nicely to us," Moon says, "She actually treats us like people and not feral animals."
Sun looks away, "Although that may be true don't word it like that... we're just... misunderstood."
"Misunderstood or not I don't like the other workers of this place," Moon says, "all of them even treat the littler ones badly, I saw Jacob trip and hurt his knee and the worker told him to shut up because he was crying, I had to run and find Miss Chica to help him since no one else would, I would've helped but I know he wouldn't let me get close enough to help him."
"Well... one day they'll all get adopted and into nice home where they care for one another" Sun says.
"Do places like that even exist?" Moon says.
"Just because we've never seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist," Sun says, "Maybe one day we'll be adopted into a nice family."
Moon sighs and threads his own daisy, "Keep tellin' yourself that, Sunshine..."
The twins continue to thread daisies in silent. Miss Chica sighs and walks away from the bush, she didn't like to eavesdrop and she didn't want too, but as she showed up to make sure the boys were okay they began talking, she didn't want to interrupt and if she started talking to them afterwards they would have known she was there the whole time.
Chica enters the orphanage building and heads to her office, shutting the door once inside and pulls out her phone, those two boys have been through unbelievable pain and horror, they deserve something nice in their life and Chica knows they're not going to find it sitting in this orphanage.
Chica dials a number and holds the phone to her ear, "Hey, Freddy? Can I ask you something?... How do you feel about fostering two boys?"
Three days later, Sun and Moon were in their spot behind the bush again, Moon continuing to make daisy chains and Sun doodling in the dirt with a stick.
"Three more got adopted today," Sun says, "Two children and a teen."
"Bet the teen will be back by tomorrow" Moon says.
"Don't say that" Sun says.
"Who was it?"
"...Tommy..."
Moon huffs a laugh, "Then he'll be back by the end of the day."
Sun sends Moon a look but a rustle at the bush behind him makes him jump and back up into Moon, Moon also startled grabs Sun and holds him protectively.
"Get up you rats, you're leaving" It was one of the orphanage workers, the name on her tag reads, Ursula.
"Leaving? Leaving where?" Moon growls, "I'm surprised you haven't left to 6 feet under, old woman."
"You little brat!" Ursula reaches to grab the boys but Moon gets to his feet and drags Sun deeper into the forest where they sat, hearing not just one, but three pairs of hurried footsteps behind them.
"Moony! Where're we going?" Sun asks.
"Anywhere to loose those fuckers, we're not going anywhere from this place!" Moon yells, "It may be shit here but its better then those shitty murderous houses!"
Sun can't even lecture Moon on his language since he agreed with his little brother, this place isn't the best but its much better then almost dying...
Moon pulls Sun behind a tree and hugs him close to stay out of sight, they turn their head up to the tree and motions Sun to climb up, he does and Moon follows behind him, the noise gains the attention of the three orphanage workers which makes them yell up to the two, the twins sit on a branch and use the leaves to hide themselves, Sun covers his ears from all the yelling... make it stop... no more yelling... be quiet... not again... please...
"What are you doing?!"
Sun uncovers his ears at that voice, he and Moon look down from their hiding spot and see Miss Chica running over to the workers with someone following behind her.
"The brats ran and hid up there!" Ursula yells and points up to the tree.
"That gives you no right to hunt them down like that! I saw what you did and that is completely unacceptable!" Miss Chica says loudly, not exactly yelling but loud enough for the boys to hear, "You know how they feel about yelling and they're not children! You have no right treating them like that! I've also been told how you all treat the other kids here and its just... UGH! Get out of my sight! All three of you! Leave!"
The three old women all scoff and leave past Miss Chica, sending glares over their shoulders towards Miss Chica and the tree the boys hid in.
"...Hags..." Moon mumbles, neither of the twins have seen Miss Chica get that angry before, shes always been so kind and soft spoken, it honestly impressed them.
"Sun! Moon! Are you boys okay?" Miss Chica calls up, "I'm so sorry! I had asked Ursula to get you two to come see me but now I see how bad that decision was... I should've gotten you myself... I'm so sorry... You two aren't in trouble if that's what you think, far from it actually, you both have been chosen to be fostered by a very close friend of mine." Chica waits for any sign of response before continuing, "He has fostered children in the past and has adopted one too, he's 8 years old."
Chica knew adding Freddys adopted son into the mix would hit the twins in some way, she saw how much they cared for the younger ones at the orphanage and knew they'd love his son if they met.
"Chica, do you mind if I speak to them for a sec?" Freddy asks, Chica nods and steps back for Freddy to take the lead.
"Hello! My names Freddy," Freddy smiles up to the tree, "I understand you two haven't had the best experience with being fostered, I don't know what happened since that's completely your business and not mine, but I'd appreciate it if you two gave me a chance? My son Gregory is excited to meet you two, but if you really don't enjoy it with me please let me know so we can come up with ways to make your stay more enjoyable and safe for you both. But if you really don't enjoy it that's completely okay and you can come back here if you really want too."
The boys look at each other for a moment, both thinking over their choice, Miss Chica did say this Freddy guy was a close friend of hers so she must know him pretty well, but they're both worried if they do go then his sons excitement to meet them might evaporate once laid eyes on the two... they might scare the poor soul.
Eventually, they both agree to trust Miss Chicas word and climb down the tree so they're still hiding behind it. Moon peeks one of his red eyes from behind the tree and examines Freddy up and down, the man looked like a softy, like he wouldn't hurt a fly, then again a few of the people they've met looked soft but that was all a ruses. Freddy smiles warmly at the boy which made Moon hide back behind the tree, he looks to Sun who nods slowly and grabs Moons hand, the two of them walking out from behind the tree.
Freddy looks to Sun and then back to Moon with that same smile, Miss Chica smiles too and leads the three back to the orphanage, once they reached the backyard playground a bunch of older kids started calling names towards the twins.
"Look! The freaks are finally leaving!"
"10 bucks say they actually die this time!"
Then a roar of laughter erupts from the older kids, Sun covers his ears again and Moon puts a hand on Suns shoulder, Freddy and Chica turn to the laughing kids with disgust.
"Terrible children, who would say that about someone?" Freddy says.
"Someone who's getting a huge lecture and grounding later on," Chica says as they enter the building and to her office, turning to the boys, "Could you two get your stuff together while I speak to Freddy, please?" The twins nod and leave her office, heading up to their room.
They didn't have a lot of stuff, just a few shirts and pants clothing wise, Sun put his yellow spiked headband on for good luck and Moon has his blue, starry night cap, he never really wore it, just liked the texture of the fabric as he held it. They put their clothes in two separate plastic bags and headed back to Chicas office, not without being stopped by quiet sniffs from one of the other rooms.
They stop and turn to the half open door of one of the younger kids rooms, inside were four separate beds but one had a child with her head buried in her knees, her shoulders shaking from crying.
Sun and Moon both turned to each other, they desperately want to help but they don't want to scare the poor girl... but they can't leave her like that...
Sun peeks his head into the room and opens the door enough for it to creek, gaining the girl's attention as she lifts her head up and spots the twins.
"Are you ok?" Sun asks, the girls eyes widen as if she hadn't expected Sun to ask that, or even care, she looks away and wipes her eyes with a sleeved hand.
"I-I'm fine..." she says.
Sun slowly walks into the room with Moon behind him, "Are you sure there's nothing we could do?"
"...I... I don't get it..." The girl says.
"Get what?" Sun asks.
The girl looks up to the twins again, "Why are you trying to help me?"
"Because," Moon says, getting closer standing next to Sun, "We don't want you to be upset."
The girls eyes widen once more then sniffs, "...Can you get Miss Chica for me please? B-But can one of you stay with me?.. I don't wanna be alone."
Sun and Moon look to each other and then back to the girl, "I'll go get her," Sun says, "I won't be long." They turn to the door and leave the room, leaving Moon and the girl inside.
"Whats your name?" Moon asks, getting closer to the bed to kneel down next to the girl.
"...Yazmin" She says.
"That's a lovely name," Moon gives a small smile, "Do you know my name?"
Yazmin shakes her head, "No... but everyone tells me you and the other one are mean and scary..."
"Some people think we're scary, but I promise you we're not," Moon says, "we like helping people and want to help you feel better. Is there something I can do for you right now?"
Yazmin lets her tight hug from her legs go, "Whats your name?"
"Moon."
"Moon... Can..." Yazmin sniff again, the tears coming back, "C-Can I have a hug?"
Moon stands up and sits on the bed with his arms out, Yazmin crawls over and hugs him tightly, small cries leaving her and into Moons chest. Moon wraps his arms around the girl, one hand behind her head.
"You'll be okay," Moon whispers, "Everything will be okay."
Yazmin sniffs softly and wipes her eyes with her sleeve, "...thank you for helping me..."
Moon smiles a little and gently rocks back and forth to calm Yazmin down more, "No need to thank us, Sweetie, Sun will be back with Miss Chica in a second, I promise."
Yazmin nods and speak of the devil, Sun walks back into the room with Miss Chica behind him, she sees the sight in front of her and smiles softly. "Thank you, Moon, you two can go now, I'll be back down in a minute."
Moon nods and lets Yazmin go, he stands up and leaves the bedroom with Sun, picking up their bags again they continue to walk down the stairs and back to Chicas office, ignoring the glares, whispers, and terrified looks from younger kids as they hide behind anything they could from the other kids as they walk past, keeping their heads down to not make eye contact.
The twins enter Chicas office and sits on the light pink couch, their bags on the floor in front of them. Freddy was sitting on the second couch by the wall opposite the two, a coffee table being the only thing dividing them. The boys kept their heads down, Sun fiddling anxiously with his fingers and Moon knee bouncing nervously as the three of them sat in silence.
Freddy felt a little awkward sitting in silence but he understood the boys weren't the talkative types, especially considering their past. Freddy didn't know what the boys had been through and he didn't want to pry, whether the boys choose to tell him or not didn't bother him, right now his main priority was to get the boys back to his place and help them feel comfortable.
Moon lifts his head a little to examine Freddy, he was a tall man with a wide build, Moon couldn't tell if it was muscle or not due to his brown coat. Freddys face gave away that he wasn't a rough guy, the only way Moon could describe it was a baby face, a baby face on a wide build body seemed almost comical to Moon, though he didn't utter a smile and kept his glare.
Sun spots Moon leg bouncing, knowing Moon felt nervous, Sun put his hand on Moon knee and it stops bouncing, Sun looks to Moon to silently tell him that everything will be okay. Moon looks down to Suns hand on his knee and puts his own hand over Suns, squeezing it gently.
Freddy catches Sun and Moons little action and smiles, it was clear the two of them cared for each other a lot, that made Freddy feel happy but also a little sad, the two of them only had each other and looked after themselves pretty much their entire lives. They're still kids and needed someone to take care of them, someone to be a parent to them and help them feel safe and comforted and loved... Freddy only hoped he could be that figure for the two, show them a better life, GIVE them a better life.
Freddy decides to speak, he didn't mind if the two listened, ignored or spoke back, he just wanted them to hear his voice.
"My son Gregory is excited to meet you two, I adopted him from a different orphanage across city." Freddy looks to the two to see how they would react, they both kept their gaze on the floor, not reacting physically but Freddy thought they would maybe mentally. "I don't want you to feel pressured or anything, but I know he'll want to talk to you two when we get to my place so its just a heads up." Freddy chuckles a little and again waited for a reaction, nothing. Freddy kept talking.
"I've got your room all set up for the two of you, Chica told me you two stay together so I put a double bed in your bedroom for you two, I hope that's alright." No response. "There's not a lot of stuff in the room, its pretty bland to be honest, so I was thinking maybe one day I could take you two to the mall to get some things to spruce up your room a little. New wallpaper, new bedding, and even new clothes."
The twins again didn't react to Freddys words, keeping their original position, heads down, hand in hand.
A few moments after, Chica returns into the office.
"Sorry that took a little while." Chica sits next to Freddy, looking at the twins. "Yazmin is alright, she overheard a few other girls talking about her and she took it the wrong way, everything is settled now."
This time, the twins look up a little at Chica. Freddy could tell from this that the twins had some kind of respect towards Chica but he didn't take it to heart.
Chica smiles, "Boys, this is my friend, Freddy, he'll be fostering you for the foreseeable future. He has an 8 year old son called Gregory who is an absolute sweetheart, though he does have some witty quips from time to time, heh. But I'm sure you two will love him. And don't be worried about being alone, I'll be popping in tomorrow to see how you two have been."
The twins nod.
Chica smiles, "Great, now that's all out of the way. Shall we head to the car?" She looks to Freddy.
Freddy nods, "Yeah, I'll go get the car started." Freddy stands up and leaves the office.
Chica looks back to the boys. "Listen, I know this will be hard for you two but this is what's best for you, I can't keep you here forever and I especially can't let you stay here until your 18, I refuse to let you two go homeless on the streets."
The boys look to each other and then up to Chica, "We know you're only trying to help..." Moon says, "Its just..."
"...Scary..." Sun finishes Moons sentence.
Chica sighs a little, "I know it is... and that's why I called Freddy, because if you two you need anyone, to love you and treat you as their own, its him. Please," Chica leans over and puts her hand on top of the twos held hands, "Just try... for me."
The boys look down to Chicas hand on theirs then back up to her and nod, "...Okay..."
Chica smiles and stands up, pulling the boys up to their feet and hugs them gently, the boys hug her back before they let each other go. Chica smiles sweetly down at the two and kisses their heads. "I'll see you both tomorrow, alright? Be good."
The twins smile up to Chica then grabs their bags. Chica walks the boys outside and to Freddys car, Freddy had opened the cars door for the boys to climb into the back seats. Sun, Moon and Chica share one last hug before the boys climb into the cars back seats. Freddy shuts the door then looks to Chica, noticing her worried expression.
"They'll be okay, don't worry." Freddy smiles, "I'll do whatever I can to help them."
Chica smiles but her worry showed in her eyes, "I know you will..."
Freddy waves then climbs into the drivers seat, he looks to the boys to check if their seat belts were on, seeing that they were Freddy starts the car and drives away.
Chica watches as the car leaves, she waves with a smile but then frowns and stops waving once the car was out of sight. She hugs herself tightly. She knew the boys were the safest they've ever been in Freddys care but at the same time she couldn't help but worry about them...
Chica takes a deep breath then heads back inside the orphanage.
"They'll be okay..."
Chapter 2: Chapter 2
Summary:
Sun and Moon meet Gregory
Chapter Text
The car ride was silent, not even the quiet songs playing through the cars radio could fill the silence in the car.
Freddy didn't mind the silence, but he was wondering what was going through the twins heads. Where they scared? Nervous? He didn't know. Freddy occasionally look in the cars mirror to check on the twins in the back seats, both heads down still hand in hand. Freddy knew it would take a while for the twins to warm up to him but that was a challenge Freddy was willing to take, and he only hoped the twins would give him a chance.
After a 10 minute car drive, Freddy pulls the car in front of his house, parking it on the driveway. The house was a good size, not too big but not too small from the outside.
"Well, here we are," Freddy looks over his shoulder and to the twins, "Ready?"
The twins nod, Freddy smiles and climbs out of the car, opening the door for the twins to climb out. They grab their bags and slide out of the car, still hand in hand they look up to the house, it didn't look threatening from the outside, it seemed well taken care of, like a family home.
Freddy locks the car then walks to the front door, he opens the door for the twins to step inside.
"Welcome home, boys." Freddy smiles.
The twins look to each other and then step inside the house, the inside definitely gave a family vibe, a big living room to the right with a big kitchen connecting to it to the left. The living room had two brown leather couches with a coffee table and rug underneath it, one of the couches had a long crocheted blanket draped over the back, a wide TV up on the wall above an electric fireplace.
The kitchen was a white marble texture; the counters and kitchen island. A brown table with 6 chairs surrounding it.
Freddy looks to the twins, "Let me show you to your room, you can leave your bags there."
Freddy leads the tow up the stairs, the boys could see four rooms, one they assume is a bathroom and the others bedrooms, one of the doors had a sign on the front that read, 'Gregory' with small light blue lightning bolt symbols surrounding it.
"Here we are," Freddy opens the door to the twins room, just as Freddy had said before, there was a double bed in the corner, a dresser and walk-in closet. "Sorry there isn't much in here, I wasn't sure on what you two liked so I didn't know how to decorate it to your liking."
"...Its fine..." Moon says quietly, the boys put their bags next to the bed.
"...Its more then enough..." Sun says quietly, he was slightly behind Moon, almost trying to hide behind him a little.
Freddy smiles a little, "Well, I shall leave you two to get comfortable, Gregory comes out of school in a minute so I'll be leaving to go get him, you two are free to roam and explore whatever and where ever you'd like."
Moon nods, he had a slight glare in his eyes now, "Alright."
Freddy nods and leaves the bedroom, he closes the door a little and walks down the stairs and grabs his car keys. From how the boys were acting now that they were in the house he could tell that Moon was very protective of Sun and Sun trusted Moon to keep both of them safe. Freddy thought it was sweet but also upsetting, the boys shouldn't have to be overly protective of each other after meeting new people, even someone whose friends with the person who basically raised them. It didn't bother Freddy but it did upset him because he didn't know what to do to help them, but he'll do his best and won't give up.
After Freddy left the room, Sun lets out a sigh of relief and lays back on the bed, it was fluffier and comfier then he'd thought, he practically sunk into the mattress.
Moon looks around the bedroom, searching every nook and cranny for any cameras and or microphones that could be in the room, even unscrewing the light bulb to check, finding nothing he put everything back where it was and sits next to Sun on the bed.
"Whoa, didn't expect that."
Sun smiles, "You really sink into it, huh."
Moon smiles, "Yeah," He looks down to Sun, "You okay?"
Sun nods. "Yeah, I'm okay... Mr. Freddy seems nice."
"Yeah well it could be an act, wouldn't be the first time."
Sun sits up, "But he's Miss Chicas friend, she wouldn't have called him if she didn't trust him, and you heard what she said, Mr. Freddy has adopted before and she'll be coming here to see us tomorrow."
Moon shrugs, "Still... I'm not letting my guard down, he needs to learn that we're not people he can push around."
"But what about chores? He's gonna give us chores when he gets back, they all do."
"Not unless there's a punishment if we don't do them, or we could always snag his phone and call Miss Chica to take us back.
Sun frowns a little, "We'll... keep that as a last resort."
Moon looks to Sun and puts a hand on his shoulder, "Hey, you'll be okay, alright? I won't let anything hurt you."
Sun smiles and presses his forehead against Moon, feeling Moon press back. "I know you will..."
Moon smiles and pulls his head back, "Well, we have the house to ourselves, wanna go nose around?"
Sun nods, "Yeah, we have at least 20 minutes until Mr. Freddy comes back, lets go look around."
The two stand and open their bedroom door, both quickly scanning the area for cameras and microphones, again, unscrewing the light bulb, nothing. It may seem extreme but they weren't taking any chances, they've made that mistake once and never again.
Sun opens one of the doors and peeks inside, the walls were painted red and carpet was a dark green with lighter lightning bolt shapes scattered around. A bed in the corner with red sheets and a desk close by with a long mirror on the wall with lights around the outside of the mirror. On the ceiling was a large blue star that was the rooms light source. A walk in closet was at the other side of the room.
Sun stepped inside and done a small 360 to take in the room, this must be Mr. Freddys room, since the other door had Gregorys name on it and the other must be a bathroom. Sun walked to the desk and mirror and looked at himself in the mirror. His blonde hair a mess, his yellow spiked headband just barely visible through his mess of hair, the eye patch covering his right eye, one one of his blue eyes looked back at him through the mirror. Sun slowly took off the eye patch and kept it in his hands, seeing his injured pure white eye made his stomach churn, he hated looking at it. Sun looked to his neck in the mirror, he could see slight glimpses of the red spring-lock scars, he pulls up his hoodie a little to cover his neck more so he couldn't see them.
Moon had finished sweeping the room for any cameras and microphones, the coast was clear. Moon looks over to Sun and walks over to him, looking down at the desk as something catches his eye.
"Hey look," Moon pick up a Polaroid picture from the desk and holds it up for both of them to see. The picture looked somewhat old, or at least not entirely modern. They could see four people in the picture all lined up together, one looked like a younger Mr. Freddy, his light brown orangeish hair shone from the cameras flash, his light blue eyes had light blue face paint surrounding them with a red outline around the blue, he wore a brown suit and black bow tie with a black top hat on his head. He looked like he was at a party, in fact, the other three people in the picture looked like that too.
The people next to Freddy looked a little older then him but not by much. He had a red mohawk and green face paint covering his face with purple circles painted on his cheeks, yellow star shaped sunglasses over his eyes with purple tints, he wore a dark purple suit with a loosened dark green tie around his neck, his arm slung over Freddys shoulder.
The other was a girl with long grey hair, the front of her hair by her face was dyed green. She had a black heart painted on her right cheek and a red star painted on the other, she wore a red sleeveless crop top with a black mark at eh bottom that looked like an explosion shape of sorts, her matching red short shorts had the same mark to the side. She also had purple arm warmers with black zebra stripes and two black spiked bracelets on her wrists.
The twins look to the last person in the picture and they froze.
"Is that.. Miss Chica?" Sun asks to no one in particular.
It was indeed a young Chica in the picture with the others. Her white and pink ombre pixie cut hair was easily recognizable to the twins, she had a pink bow in her hair which matches her pink outfit and face paint, she had pink stripes painted on her cheeks and her left eye had a pink circle painted around it. She wore a pink shirt and pink shorts, a darker pink corset around her waist with two dark green triangle dangling earrings in each ear and green finger-less gloves.
"Whoa, she looks so different yet so recognizable" Moon says.
"Maybe that's because we know her?"
"Maybe," Moon shrugs, "But if that's Miss Chica and that's Mr. Freddy, then who are the other two?"
"I don't know, they look like their friends, but I don't remember Miss Chica ever mentioning them, or bringing them up."
"They look like teenagers in this picture, maybe they just split apart."
"And Miss Chica and Mr. Freddy stayed friends?"
"It could happen." Moon set the picture back down on the desk where he found it. He looks up to Sun and smiles, "Giving yourself a break from the patch?"
Sun looks down to the eye patch in his hands and fiddles with it, "I guess..."
Moon puts his hand on Suns, making Sun look back up to him, "Hey, its okay, I know its hard for you to look at it. But if you ask me I think it looks cool on you."
Sun smiles a little, "I appreciate you trying to help, Moony... but its still hard to see it..."
Moon gently takes the eye patch from Suns hands, "Baby steps, Sunny," Moon puts the eye patch back around Suns head to cover the white eye, "I'll always be here to help you through it." Moon brushes Suns hair out of his face, "Better?"
Sun nods and smiles more, "Better..."
Moon smiles and takes Suns hand, "Come on, lets look around some more while we can."
The two leave Freddys room and peek their heads inside Gregorys rooms, the walls were painted a light blue with a darker blue carpet, a small bed with blue sheets, a desk with a computer, walk in closet and a few toys scattered around the ground, an open toys chest against the wall also. The boys didn't venture inside any further and went down the stairs, seeing the living room and kitchen once again.
The two spot another door, this one was a double glass sliding door that lead to the back yard, they try to slide the door open and it opens smoothly, letting the twins step outside.
The back yard was a big one, big enough to fit a large trampoline and big swimming pool in the ground, even a big play equipment set with swings, slides and climbing frames, it was like a kids dream playground.
The boys stand at the open door, gazing at the back yard in awe, they had never seen anything like this before and their inner child was screaming at them to run out and go play, they so desperately wanted too but they didn't want to get in trouble. The two made their decision and slid the door closed.
Just then, they heard keys rattling at the front door, Mr. Freddy was back! The twins sprint back up the stairs and into their bedroom closing the door a little just like it was before. They sit on their bed and act like they didn't move the entire time.
They heard the door open and then close, followed by an excited voice of a little boy, must be Gregory. His voice was muffled but the twins could make out a few words, and the ones they caught got their attention the most.
"Are my foster brothers here?"
The twins look to each other when they both heard it, they could hear how excited Gregory was to meet them, but they were worried he would be disappointed when he sees them, or worse... scared like the other little kids.
The sound of hurried footsteps ran up the stairs and their bedroom door flies open, the twins flinch and grab each other protectively on instinct.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you" Gregory was at their door, he had messy wild brown hair and light brown eyes, he had a band-aid on his right cheek. He wore a dark blue shirt with two light blue stripes, brown shorts and red and white trainers. He wore a watch on his wrist too.
The twins let each other go when they realize they weren't in danger.
"I-Its okay.." Sun says quietly.
Gregory smiles and walks up to the two, he puts his hands on their bed.
"What are your names? You two look really cool! I bet you could take down a bear in a fist fight."
The twins snicker and look to each other with a smile and then back to Gregory, "We're not sure we could do that." Moon says, "I'm Moon."
"I'm Sun." Sun says, his voice no longer quiet.
Gregory grins and pulls himself up on the bed, the twins move to make room for Gregory to join them, he sits on the bed with the twins, sitting in between them in the middle.
"I hope you like it here and stay, Dads really nice and really fun! Did you know he used to be in a band?"
"He did?" Sun tilts his head.
"Mhm! He was the lead singer to The Glamrocks! They were a popular band years ago." Gregory smiles, he seemed to enjoy bragging that his Dad used to be in a popular band, it was honestly adorable.
"Oh wow, that's actually pretty cool" Moon says.
"Yeah! And my aunts and uncle were apart of the band too, they're super cool! Oh! Maybe you'll get to meet them one day if you stay here."
"Uhmm, Gregory, can we ask... whats it like here? Is there any rules we should know? Dos and don'ts?" Sun asks.
"Huh?" Gregory tilts his head, "No? There's no rules, at least no big ones. Like no staying out late and be back at a certain time, don't break stuff on purpose, no fighting, you know, basic things."
"What about chores?" Moon asks.
"No? There's no chores, unless you want to help. I sometimes help tidy the kitchen after dinner but that's only if I want too, its not like a must do thing."
Sun and Moon look to each other again, no rules? No chores? They weren't expecting that at all.
"Oh right! I forgot to tell you, Dad said that we're going to the mall tomorrow after the orphanage owner comes to see you two, you can get whatever you want to decorate your room! That's what me and Dad did when I first came here." Gregory says.
"Right right, okay... Gregory, how long were you here for before Mr. Freddy adopted you?" Sun asks.
"Hmm 5 months I think?" Gregory says, "Oh hey! Wanna go play in the back yard?"
Sun and Moon smile, "Okay, lets go."
Freddy was in the kitchen getting dinner ready for the four of them, he had called Chica to ask what the twins liked to eat and she said pasta with hotdogs was their favorite, so that's what he's making.
Freddy hears the kids coming down the stairs and turns to them just as they went out the back door and into the yard. Freddy smiles and looks back to continue cooking, the twins seemed to have warmed up to Gregory pretty quickly which he kinda expected to happen. From what Chica had told him about how much the twins adored children he knew they'd like Gregorys fun loving personality.
Freddy puts on the pasta on the stove then walks to the back door, looking out the glass. He could see the kids playing on the climbing equipment, all of them smiling and having fun. Freddy smiles and quickly snaps a picture on his phone of the sight and sends it to Chica.

*!!-They're okay :)-!!*
Freddy turns back to the kitchen to continue dinner.
After dinner, the twins helped wash and clean up after, they know Gregory told them that they didn't have too but they felt like they HAD too, after so many years of so many chores they felt stuck in a routine of cleaning. But they also thought if they did this then it'd be a way of showing their respect for Freddy for taking them in.
Freddy puts away the last plate and closes the cupboard, "Thank you for the help, boys, you know you didn't have too."
They nod and Moon speaks, "We know, but we want too."
Freddy smiles, "Well I don't want you two to feel like you have too, but I appreciate the help." Freddy looks to the clock on the wall, "Alrighty, its almost night, remember to shower before going to bed, okay? It helps with sleep."
The boys nod then walk to the living room, sitting on the couch. Sun had gone up the stairs to the bathroom. Moon pulls down the blanket from the back of the couch and pulls it over his lap. Moon rubs the blanket with two fingers, feeling the crocheted stitches that made up the blanket, it felt wavey and soft, it was very well made.
"You like it?" Freddy walks over and sits on the other couch, a mug of hot tea in his hand, "I made it myself."
Moon looks up to Freddy, "You did?"
Freddy nods and sips his tea, he leans over and puts the mug on the coffee table, "I could teach you if you'd like, its a calming activity to do if you get bored."
"You... You'd teach me?" Moon sounded confused, "I wouldn't want to waste your time."
"Oh nonsense, its not a waste of time to learn something new, besides, I'd love to teach you how to crochet. You never know, you might find it comforting." Freddy smiles.
Moon thinks about it for a moment then nods, "Yeah... okay."
Sun walks back down the stairs with Gregory behind him, Sun sits next to Moon.
"Gregory, get in the shower please before it gets any darker" Freddy says.
Gregory groans, "Aww come on, Dad, I don't wanna."
"Now young man, its been three days."
"Nah uh" Gregory pouts and crosses his arms, looking away.
Freddy shrugs then stands up, "Fine." Freddy walks over to Gregory and quickly grabs him, Gregory yelps then starts laughing as Freddy began tickling him.
"Ah! Nooo! Haha! Dad stop!"
"Not until you agree to shower, Superstar."
Gregory giggles, "Okay okay I will!"
Freddy chuckles and stops tickling Gregory, he ruffles his hair and kisses his head, "Go shower."
Gregory turns and runs up the stairs to the bathroom.
Freddy sits back on the couch and picks up his mug from the coffee table, taking a sip.
Sun and Moon side glance to each other... they were not expecting that...

Chapter Text
Night came around and it was time for everyone to go to bed. Sun and Moon did as Freddy had said and showered before going to bed. Now the twins were in bed next to each other.
"So... today went well" Sun whispers.
Moon shrugs, "I guess, something just doesn't feel right to me..."
"What is it? I don't see why anything would, Mr. Freddys been really nice and Gregory is nice too, at least none of them has yelled or tried to hit us."
"Yet."
Sun frowns and looks down, picking at his nails, "Right... yet..."
Moon notices Suns fidgeting and held his hands in his to stop him from accidentally hurting himself, "I'm sorry... You know I'd never let anyone hurt you."
"I know... But I don't want you getting hurt either."
Moon sighs and presses his forehead against Suns, "I know... we'll be okay, alright? Remember that. In the morning, we'll see Miss Chica again and shes coming with us to the mall, though I don't see why Mr Freddy wants to take us to decorate our room, its not like we'll be here for long."
Sun presses his forehead against Moon in return, "Well maybe Mr Freddy just wants us to feel welcome and comfortable while we're here. Maybe we'll even be able to go to school while we're here."
Moon sighs again, "Sunny, I love you, but please don't get your hopes too high..."
"I know, Moony, but its a nice thought, isn't it? Us going to school, don't you ever think about it? Meeting people the same age as us, making new friends and learning new things, it sounds great, doesn't it?"
"Its... admittedly a nice thought, but we can't expect thoughts to become reality."
"I know, we've done that one too many times." Sun yawns and cuddles into Moon, "Night, Moony."
Moon smiles tiredly and cuddles back into Sun, "Nighty night, Sunny."
From the other side of the twins bedroom door, Freddy had about to enter to check on the twins but stopped when he heard them talking, he didn't like to eavesdrop but hearing the twins worries and wishes made Freddy even more upset for them, but they have him an idea, they want to go to school, they're going to school.
The next day. Freddy was up and in the kitchen making breakfast for the kids, wearing his light blue dressing-gown. Freddy had called Chica and asked her to arrive at the house at 10 am so they can leave for the mall. Freddy was honestly excited for it, to take the twins to the mall and see what they like to decorate their room with.
Freddy hears a door open upstairs as he fills three plates with toast, bacon and eggs, he picks up the plates and puts them on the table in front of three chairs. Freddy turns and sees Sun and Moon all dressed for the day coming down the stairs.
"Good morning, boys," Freddy smiles, "I hope you slept well, breakfast is ready, pick whichever one you want." Freddy motions to the table with three plates. The twins nod and sit at the table next to each other. Freddy smiles and turns to the sink to start washing the dishes he had used to make breakfast.
Gregory runs down the stairs and jumps off the second to last step, his hair a mess and in his blue and black pajamas. "Morning Dad!" Gregory sits at the table and pulls the last plate over to himself, vacuuming his food down.
"Gregory slow down, you're gonna choke." Freddy shakes his head and brings the three glasses of water.
Gregory finishes his food and swallows the water whole, "Thanks, Dad!" Gregory practically flies out of his seat and up the stairs.
"Make sure you brush your teeth!" Freddy calls to Gregory as he runs up the stairs. Freddy sighs and shakes his head, picking up Gregorys empty plate and glass, "Sorry about him, he's just overly excited that you're here, he'll calm down eventually." Freddy smiles at the twins then takes the plate and glass to the sink to start washing that too, "I've asked Chica to be here at 10 so she'll be here in around 10 minutes. Oh, and before I forget, Gregorys uncle is coming to babysit him while we go shopping, he can be loud and likes to burst through the door to make an entrance. Just so you know so when it does happen you won't be too startled."
The twins nod again and finish their food, they pick up their plates and bring them to the sink to wash them themselves.
"Oh that's alright, I've got them," Freddy gently takes the plates from the boys, "Could you two brush your teeth before we go, please?"
The twins nod and walk up the stairs and into the bathroom.
Freddy smiles and puts away the clean dishes away. Now that he thinks about it he hopes the twins didn't think of that as an order.
Suddenly, the front door bursts open thanks to someone kicking it open.
"Sup, Fred!" A man in green and a red mohawk walks into the house.
Freddy jumps and puts a hand to his chest, "Goodness, Monty, why do you feel the need to do that?"
"What? Dramatic entrances are my thing, you know that." Monty leans his arm against the door frame of the kitchen.
Freddy sighs, "Well next time please be more quiet, the two new fosters are jumpy to sudden loud noises and I'd much rather them not having panic attacks."
"Oh shit, really? Jeez man I'm sorry." Monty rubs the back of his neck.
"It's alright, I should have warned you sooner but I did tell them before you arrived that a loud noise was coming so they must have expected it." Freddy closes the cabinet after putting away the clean dishes. "I hope the two won't be too nervous meeting everyone."
"I take it they had a rough past like Gregory?" Monty says.
Freddy nods, "They had, but it's nothing like living on the streets... Chica didn't go into detail but she told me they've had some very traumatic experiences with past foster homes."
"Damn.. poor kids." Monty says, "Where are they now?"
"They're upstairs brushing their teeth. I'm a little worried about going to a public space with them, about how they'd react. Chica will be there with us obviously and they're very close to her, but I still can't help but worry, especially about Sun, I've noticed he's the more nervous of the two, and with how protective I've noticed Moon be about Sun I can't imagine how he'd react to Sun being so scared..."
"I'm sure it'll be fine, Fred." Monty reassures, "Like you said, Chica will be there, she'll help them feel safer by just being there, right?"
"..They did seem less tense after I explained to them that Chica will be coming with us.." Freddy nods, "You're right, but I still can't help but worry.."
"Yeah but that's to be expected, especially from you, you worry wart." Monty lightly elbows Freddys arm, causing him to chuckle.
From the stairs, Sun and Moon were waiting and watching from the top step, slowly gaining the courage to walk down the stairs albeit slowly, gaining the attention of the adults in the kitchen.
"Hey, little dudes, sorry if I startled ya earlier," Monty apologies, rubbing the back of his neck, his tone of voice softer as to not scare the twins further.
Moon only gives a subtle nod in response and the two sit on the couch in the living room, Sun looking down to his lap and fiddling with his fingers and Moons leg bounces a little, both nervous tics from the twins.
Monty frowns a little in concern at the twins show of nerves and the visible scars on their neck and wrists that continue under their shirts, not to mention Suns eye patch. "Damn, poor little guys... d'you know what they've been through?"
Freddy shakes his head, "No, I don't. I know they haven't had good experiences with foster homes and I know one of them had abused them... but I didn't want to know or to pry, thats their business. Whether they tell me one day or not that's okay, I just want to give them the life they missed out on."
Monty nods and cracks a small smirk, "You said a similar speech when you adopted Gregory. About wanting to give him the life he missed out on."
Freddy smiles a little, "I know, and I stand by it. He was living in the streets before he was taken in to the orphanage, and even then he was already 7 years old."
A moment after, a soft knock comes from the front door. Monty leaves Freddys side at the kitchen sink and opens the door himself.
"Heya Chickadee." Monty greets Chica and steps out of the way of the door as Chica walks in.
"Heya Monty," Chica smiles to him as he walks in, her eyes catching on the twins own. Both boys jump up from the couch and run to Chica who opens her arms to them, catching the two in a tight group hug. "Hi boys, how was your first night here?"
Monty smiles at the sight and walks back to the kitchen to give the three some privacy, having a suspicion the twins wouldn't speak if Monty was in the room.
Sun and Moon both smile up to Chica, happy to see their Head of Home again.
"It's been okay, we played with Gregory in the back yard!" Sun beams.
"And the bed is like a cloud, we practically sunk into it." Moon adds.
Freddy walks out of the kitchen, a dish towel in hand as he dries them after finishing the dishes. "We all ready to go to the mall?"
Chica nods, "Yep, we're ready. Monty don't burn the house down while we're gone."
"Hey! How irresponsible do you think I am?" Monty argues back, playfully.
"Alright, then no you and Gregory setting up home alone style pranks for when we get back."
"...Damn it, fine."
Freddy grabs his car keys from the key hook on the wall next to the door. "Let's go."
Sun and Moon both hold one of Chicas hands as they leave the house, the twins getting into the backseats of the car and Chica hopping into the passenger side. Freddy climbing into the drivers side then starts the car, reversing off the driveway and driving onto the road towards the middle of the city where the mall was.
The twins were silent the entire 15 minute drive to the mall, both holding each others hand in the middle seat. Chica checked on the two every so often with the rear-view mirror, noticing Moons bouncing leg and Suns finger tips tapping each other in his free hand, nervous tics she has seen all too many times while the boys lived in her orphanage.
Freddy pulls the car into the busy parking lot and turns off the car. They four climb off the car and Sun and Moon again hold Chicas hands as they walk out of the parking lot and into the mall. They were all immediately bombarded with people walking in and out of the malls parking lot and the many stores. Sun and Moon stepping closer to Chica as if the tide of people would drag them away.
"Right, where should we go to first?" Freddy asks. "We could start with looking for wallpaper or paint for the walls of your bedroom, we could start with new bedding and bed covers, or new clothes, new decorations, so many options!"
Chica chuckles, "I think you're more excited than Sun and Moon."
"Heh, apologize, I just like the mall a lot."
"Hm, I wonder why." Chica chuckles again. "So boys, have any preference to where you would like to start?"
Sun and Moon look to each other as if silently communicating, Chica noticed the twins did this a lot and jokingly called it their 'twin telepathy'. Moon looks up to Chica and answers what the both of them chose.
"The walls.. if thats okay."
Chica and Freddy smile then walks with the twins towards the 'Home Decor' store of the mall, full of furniture, yard supplies, DIY supplies, wallpaper, wall paints, pretty much anything to make a home homey.
The four walk to the wallpaper and wall paints isle, there weren't any people in this isle so Chica gently motions for the boys to walk ahead of them and look for what they want. Sun and Moon, trusting Chica, let go of Chicas hands and walk a little ways ahead of the adults, looking at the wallpaper and wall paint options to decorate their new room.
"See anything you like?" Freddy asks.
Sun and Moon again look to each other with their 'twin telepathy' and Moon answers what they agreed to.
"We like the space one." Moon points to the space themed wallpaper.
Freddy nods and picks up the roll the twins had selected. Chica takes the boys hands again as they walk to the checkout and out to the next store to get some new bed covers. Sun and Moon picked a purple galaxy bedding. The next store for decorations, Sun picked a star shaped wall nightlight, a new star shaped eye patch and some stickers he found a liking to of different facial expressions and colours, and a packet of googly eyes Sun found funny. Moon only picked a different kind of sticker sheet with animals he saw Sun staring at before picking the face stickers since he knew Sun wanted them both but too nerves to ask for since he had a few things already. But both Freddy and Chica saw Moon kept looking at a black and white cat plushy so Freddy picked it up without Moon noticing and bought it with the rest.
Moon was surprised and shocked when Freddy handed him the cat plush after they left the store, but he muttered a small 'thank you' before he held the cat plush in his arms, Sun gently petting the plush as if it was a real cat, wearing his new yellow star eye patch with a yellow smiling face sticker on the middle.
Now with the bedroom stuff all bought, they went into a few clothes stores within the mall. Getting the twins some new clothes and pyjamas. Sun found a pair of red and yellow striped pants he was visibly excited about, his eyes had lightened up as he saw them. Moon chose a similar pair of pants, the same make but blue with yellow stars scattered on them, matching his night cap he had at home, he found a black turtleneck shirt he really liked for reasons he didn't know, he just liked it.
The four of them finish their shopping trip and were walking back to the car through the parking lot. Sun and Moon had clung to Chicas sides the entire time to no surprise, both having an ice cream in one hand that Freddy and Chica had bought for them after they found out Sun and Moon had never had ice cream before, Sun opting for lemon sherbet and Moon choosing blueberry. Sun hadn't said a word since they left the house, either using his and Moons 'twin telepathy' or whispering to Moon to talk for him if he wanted to say something.
The car ride home was again unsurprisingly quiet. When they got home, Freddy, Chica and Monty carried the bags of stuff they bought into the twins room, letting them decorate the room however they wanted, not the wallpaper obviously someone else would do that. Monty kept to his word and he and Gregory didn't set up any pranks, much to Gregorys disappointment.
Freddy, Monty and Chica were in the front room while the twins decorate their room, Gregory had asked to help to which the twins agreed to happily.
"Really? Moon wants to learn to crochet?" Chica says after Freddy mentioned Moon liked the crocheted blanket he made.
"Yeah, he liked the blanket so I offered to teach him. I think it would be good for Sun to learn to since its a relaxing hobby and they both seem quite nervous and anxious. Or maybe a different relaxing hobby."
"He likes arts and crafts, maybe some small paints and crayons for him to use, he was a big fan of finger painting back in the orphanage. He used to slid some finger paintings he made under my office door for me, I kept all of them in my office pinned on the wall."
"Aw, thats really sweet." Monty says.
Freddy thinks, "I think I've got some paints and crayons in the basement from when Gregory used to use them. Oh! Maybe I could spruce up the basement and make it int like a quiet space for them, where they could go to just relax and or do some arts and crafts, like a hobby room."
Chica inhales a small hiss, "I.. I don't think the basement would be a good idea. I don't want to say to much but the brunt of their trauma comes from a basement... I doubt they'd even look at the door to it."
Freddy immediately felt awful, "Oh.. gosh I didn't know that... maybe not then. If there's room in their bedroom I could possibly make a hobby corner in there if they wanted."
Monty makes a face of a wince, "Goddamn.. what have those boys been through? I've noticed the scars and the kids eye patch, what sick basted could harm children like that?!"
Chica sighs with a frown and looks down to her lap, "...I can't help but feel like I take the blame... I spoke to the people who fostered Sun and Moon before they left with them and... and they did awful.. terrible things to my poor boys.." Chicas hands grip at her pink shorts, "If I had been more observant and maybe asked more questions maybe I could have provent-"
Monty puts a hand on Chicas shoulder, "Oh no you don't, Chickadee. No blaming yourself for something a sick son of a bitch did. Its not your fault you didn't see any reg flags or bad signs, most people hide it extremely well, to the point its quite terrifying."
Freddy nods, "He's right, Chica. It's not your fault. And I'm pretty certain Sun and Moon wouldn't want you blaming yourself either."
Chica wipes one of her eyes with the back of her hand, "...I can't help it.. I mean they're my boys, I was supposed to watch over them, protect them..."
"What would Roxy say if she sees you blaming yourself thats not your fault, huh?" Monty smiles a little, trying to lighten the mood and cheer Chica up.
Chica smiles a little as a loose tear rolls down her cheek, "...She'd say 'You're being a mother hen again'.."
Freddy chuckles softly, "..Well on other news.. I'd need your help with something else, Chica.."
Chica wipes her eyes to rid of the tears and looks up to Freddy, "What is it?"
Freddy smiles, "...To enroll Sun and Moon into school."
