Might Be Worth It For Once

Summary:

Huskerdust Week 2024

Day 1 - Husk sighed softly before answering, his eyes closed as he allowed the warmth of the sunlight to shine on his face. By Satan was he handsome.

“About an hour. Might seem cheesy, but I like watching the sunrise.”

Cheesy, sure, but Angel found it cute.

Day 2 - At the sound of his frustration, Husk pulls away from where he was making a brand new mark on his shoulder, following Angel's gaze down to the edge of his pants.

"How the hell da' these things even work?"

Day 3 - (read Wrong Place At The Right Time)

Day 4 - What, or rather who, he didn’t expect to see was Angel, and he really didn’t expect him to be the karaoke type. It made sense though. It was basically another form of performance, just a little less explicit than what Angel was used to in his line of work.

Day 5 - “You have a chance to see her again, Angel. You know what you gotta do.”

“I know.” Angel sighed.

Day 6 - “I did it,” Angel said, breaking the silence. “I stood up to that moth bastard and told him off, told him I wasn’t gonna put up with his bullshit anymore.”

Notes:

I saw today was the first day of Huskerdust week and it gave me the perfect excuse to write about them.

Chapter Text

Angel wakes up to his body hurting like absolute hell. After the events of the day before, he didn’t expect anything less.

After the battle against the exorcists, he and his friends had immediately gotten to work on reconstructing the hotel after it was completely demolished by none other than Adam himself. With the help of each and every one of them, including the one and only King of Hell himself, they’d managed to finish just before nightfall.

In his honest opinion, the place looked so much better than before. Each physical aspect of the hotel was a tribute to its residents and those who’d aided in the fight. It was definitely worth the time and effort it took to build it back up from scratch.

And thank the devil that was over and done with.

The light shining from his window lit up his room, giving him a better view of his brand new, and much bigger, bedroom. Even Fat Nuggets had his own little space now. However, due to the scare from the day before, the little demon pig opted for sleeping curled up next to his owner last night. Angel didn’t mind it one bit.

The spider demon stretched his arms above his head, letting out a loud yawn as he struggled to sit up despite every limb in his body protesting against his wishes. His pet pig squealed softly as he awoke from his slumber due to the sudden movement. Angel pets his head in apology.

His new room was now located on the bottom floor, the lobby area now only a few feet away. At least he didn’t have to climb down any stairs this morning. His legs surely would’ve given out underneath him.

Nearing the lobby, Angel noticed something strange right off the bat. Despite the sunrise illuminating the entire space, the room seemed almost too lit for the amount of curtains the hotel had. It was as if someone had opened the main doors as wide as they could go in order to let the light in.

And indeed someone actually had. The familiar sight of the ol’ grumpy bartender subconsciously brought a smile to the spider demon’s face. He began to walk towards him, quietly so as to not startle him. Though it would’ve been hilarious to see, Angel would rather not disturb the peace that settled on Husk’s face.

The two had gotten so much closer now that he’d allowed Husk to see the ugly parts of him and his life. Angel could drop the act around him and the rest of the hotel residents, knowing they’d all accept him just the way he was. The good and the bad parts.

“I know you’re there, Angel.”

The taller demon cursed under his breath. Damn those feline instincts.

“How long have you been awake?” Angel asks, coming to stand beside him. The two looked out to the town, thankful there was no aftermath of a massacre to wake up to. It had sadly been a different story for the hotel grounds.

The poor demons who’d lost their lives were immediately cremated and buried in respect for them. Even the cannibals couldn’t bring themselves to eat their own townspeople. Not after what they’d sacrificed. It just didn’t seem right. Not to mention, there was plenty of dead exorcist meat to go around.

Husk sighed softly before answering, his eyes closed as he allowed the warmth of the sunlight to shine on his face. By Satan was he handsome.

“About an hour. Might seem cheesy, but I like watching the sunrise.”

Cheesy, sure, but Angel found it cute.

Husk finally opens his eyes and turns to look at him. “Why are you? Aren’t you usually waking up well after noon?”

Angel chuckled, nodding before answering his question.

“Yeah, but my body hurts like a bitch. Besides, you know, new room and stuff. Still getting used to it.”

Husk nods, turning his gaze back towards the sky. Angel followed his lead, watching the sun on the horizon. Who would’ve thought something as insignificant as the sun rising would bring such peace and comfort after such a horrible tragedy?

Angel looks away for a moment, taking in the sight of the new lobby. He was far too tired to appreciate it last night.

His eyes roam the entire room until they settle upon the honorable painting of Sir Pentious.

A sense of sadness washed over him, memories of him and his eggboys replaying in his mind. Bad and good memories alike. He wouldn't be forgetting about them anytime soon.

“It was real fuckin’ brave what he did, that annoying bastard.” Husk’s gruff voice said behind him.

Angel smiled, turning to look at him. There was a pregnant pause between them, the soft look in Husk’s eyes preventing him from looking away. To think they’d both come so close to-

“Hey, Husky?”

The cat blinked in surprise at the sound of his name, raising one of his long eyebrows in response. He didn’t even protest the nickname.

Angel bit his lip, now overcome with emotions after the memories of his old friend and the sudden thought that had just crossed his mind. He looked away quickly.

”I’m really glad you’re still here.”

Because what would he do without him?

Angel couldn’t hold back the tears any longer. His first two sets of hands wipe at his face, embarrassed to be seen crying so openly in front of his friends. Especially one he’d undoubtedly grown feelings for. Husk sighed softly, holding Angel’s second set of hands in his own.

The size of Husk’s hands compared to his own never failed to make him flustered. He chose to blame it on the tears this time.

“I’m glad you’re still here too, kid.” Husk says after Angel had finally composed himself. The spider demon smiles softly, wiping at his eyes once more for good measure.

The two demons turn their attention back to Hell’s morning sky, the physical and emotional warmth the two felt like nothing they’d ever experienced before.

Chapter Text

They’re caught in a flurry of hands and heavy breathing, Husk’s wings losing feathers in the process as every single one of Angel’s hands continue to roam his body.

No one has touched him this way, this much, in so long. After months of rejecting and dismissing Angel’s advances, Husk’s body was beginning to betray him, searching and wanting for more of this feeling. And he allows himself to yearn for it. At least now he knows this wouldn’t be some form of antidote Angel is using to forget about his life and everything that was wrong with it.

Now, there is no denying the tension between them. Husk knew he felt differently about the spider demon compared to the rest of his friends. Sure, the attraction was always there, but it was always overshadowed by the extreme sexual behavior Angel directed towards him. However, he and Angel had grown closer after talking about their personal issues, these sorts of conversations becoming more frequent as their friendship continued to progress.

And it just kept progressing more from there.

Husk’s hands find Angel’s waist, gripping onto him tightly as the taller demon’s lips find the perfect spot on his neck. Husk groans as Angel begins to bite at that very spot, sliding his tongue over the mark once he knows it’ll stay. The taller demon has him backed against the wooden door of his own bedroom, and based on the sounds the two were making, surely anyone who’d walk by would know what was going on in there.

Husk had to get them away from the door. These fuckers never knew when to keep their mouth shit. There was no way in Hell he was gonna have the entire hotel know what they were up to.

His hands slide down Angel’s waist until they reach the back of his thighs, patting them gently. Angel immediately took the hint.

With his long, slim legs now wrapped around his waist, Husk leads them into his bedroom, careful not to drop the absolute beauty in his arms. Angel smirks, his arms wrapping around Husk’s neck before placing his lips on his. The kiss catches him by surprise, briefly coming to a halt as Angel’s tongue finds its way between his lips. Before he knows it, their tongues are fighting for dominance.

After what felt like a thousand mile walk from the door to the bed, Husk gently drops him onto it. The spider demon settled onto the cushy mattress, staring up at him with lust thirsty eyes. Angel leans back on his elbows, his other arms splayed on the bed beside him. Husk doesn’t waste any time before climbing on and settling himself between his legs, running his claws up his thighs in the process. It sends shivers up Angel’s spine

“You’re so goddamn beautiful .”

The words are out before Husk can stop them. Angel’s clearly taken aback by them, his eyes widening in surprise. Judging by his reaction, it was obvious that he hadn’t been praised during moments like this in as long as he could remember. And even if he had, they were never said with the pure awe and adoration Husk had uttered them with.

The lack of sound coming from Angel makes him think twice about what he’d said. Husk opens his mouth to say something else, but Angel doesn’t give him the chance to before he’s reaching out to grab his face and bring it closer to his own, their lips meeting once again in a passionate kiss.

Before he knows it, Husk has him caged, his arms on either side of Angel’s head. Sadly, it wasn’t long before the two had to separate for air.

“Look at me, baby.”

Angel’s breath catches, Husk’s deep voice doing things to him he hadn’t felt before. He hadn’t even realized his eyes were shut until he’d said it. Angel does as he’s told, watching as the cat demon’s eyes roam his face, as if he’s trying to memorize every detail of his dazed expression. While he found it sweet, he was also growing impatient.

“What?” He teases, “Somethin’ on my face?”

Husk smiles before going back to kissing him, Angel more than happy to reciprocate. The spider’s hands reach for the clips of his suspenders. His hand not-so accidentally brushed against his groin, smirking at the sound of Husk’s sharp breath intake.

Fuckin’ hell, Angel .”

He loved the way he said his name.

Angel continues to work on his previous task of unclipping the straps. Or at least he tried t. It was hard to do so without getting distracted by Husk’s large hand sliding up his fluffy chest, all while kissing his way down his neck.

It was complete and utter bliss.

He blindly searched for the edge of Husk’s pants, grabbing one of the straps when he finally found them and doing his best to unclip it without looking.

Only that the damn thing was putting up a fight.

Deciding to give up on it, Angel grabs the other, attempting the same thing with absolutely no success.

“What the shit ?”

At the sound of his frustration, Husk pulls away from where he was making a brand new mark on his shoulder, following Angel’s gaze down to his waistband.

“How the hell da’ these things even work?”

The look of frustration on Angel’s face is enough to make him laugh. The taller demon punches him lightly, cracking a tiny smile at the sound of the older man’s laughter.

“What? You’ve never worn suspenders before?” He asks after finally catching his breath. Angel rolled his eyes.

I have, but not like these! I don’ even know how they work. How da’ ya even put on these things?!”

Husk lets out a soft snort, flipping over the waistband to demonstrate how to unclip the strap of his suspenders.

“They’re probably before your time.” Husk joked, earning an eye roll from the gorgeous man in front of him.

”Oh, fuck offff.

Husk grabs his hand before he can try to push him again, pinning it to the spot on the mattress beside his head. Angel bites his lip, the sudden change in mood filling him back up with excitement.

He watched as Husk unclipped the other strap with his free hand, and Angel doesn’t think he’s seen anything hotter in his entire life.

Chapter Text

“Lets go out tonight.”

Angel startled, looking away from his cellphone to look up at his best friend. Cherri leaned over the couch in the hotel lobby over his lying body, awaiting his response. He’d had a pretty rough shoot last night and he planned on spending his day off lounging around, but it looked like Cherri had different plans for them.

“Out? Out where?”

Cherri thought for a moment, her eye scrunching as she thought over her options.

She gasped excitedly, taking Angel by surprise once again.

“Oh! There’s this new club like, 10 minutes away. Just opened up so it’s pretty quiet.”

Angel wasn’t entirely convinced, though. He was still pretty exhausted.

“I mean, we got a bar right here. Husk can mix us some pretty tasty concoctions. He can make a mean margarita.”

Cherri simply rolled her eye. “ Come on , bitch! I’m not dumb. I know why you wanna hang out here. I promise you’ll survive without your boytoy for a couple hours.”

Angel wasn’t stupid, either (though he doesn’t voice that). He knew that wasn’t the reason why she was so persistent to go somewhere else for a drink. She felt the need to get out of the hotel.

Charlie had allowed her to stay, though Cherri claimed she had no plans for redemption. Despite that, Angel had a feeling she was beginning to come around, and it may have something to do with a certain snake demon who, thanks to a Seraphim friend the princess of Hell had acquired, they now knew was just chilling up in heaven.

Looks like Charlie’s plan had worked after all.

Cherri continued to plead her case.

“And it’s super low key so you won’t fuck up your whole ‘reedeming’ progress, and your shitty boss won’t be there. How does that sound?”

It was his turn to roll his eyes. She had him there. There technically was no other reason not to go out.

“Fuck it, le’s do it!”

…..

Husk was well aware of how good of a singer Angel was. In fact, he’d experienced first hand the amazing pipes the spider had on him when they shared their first ever conversation that didn’t revolve around dirty sex jokes and insulting comebacks.

When Angel finally allowed himself to open up to him, and he in turn did as well. Since then, their friendship had taken a positive turn for the better, seeing themselves in a brand new light.

Husk found himself enjoying every second of his time he spent around the spider demon. Angel was indubitably likable, and Husk was grown enough to acknowledge that he had feelings other than friendship towards Angel. Whether it was just basic attraction or something even deeper, he’d rather not think too much about it before it completely consumed him. It’s not like he had a chance with him anyway.

But damn was it impossible not to be entranced by the sound of his voice. To be fair, Angel could make anything pleasant to listen to.

He was currently on a stage very clearly meant for karaoke performances, singing a song Husk had never heard before. He lightly swayed his body to the sound of the music, his beautiful voice traveling to the deepest corners of the club.

It was a new place, a little hole in the wall that not many demons knew of. Though he was no longer incharge of his own casinos and bars, Husk still enjoyed coming to the local ones and judging the sort of atmosphere these places displayed and even sampling the alcohol they served.

What, or rather who, he didn’t expect to see was Angel, and he really didn’t expect him to be the karaoke type. It made sense though. It was basically another form of performance, just a little less explicit than what Angel was used to in his line of work.

Though it was bound to happen sooner than later, Husk is still slightly embarrassed when Angel meets his eye. It’s not like he was being very discrete. Angel’s lips curved into a smile, and perhaps it was the lighting, but the entire vision brought a certain warmth to his frigid, old heart.

Kiss me,

Hold me,

That feeling is holy~

And just like that, there was a brief change in his tone as his gaze fell upon someone or something in the crowd. Husk followed his line of vision, seeing Cherri for the first time that night. He hadn’t noticed the cyclops demon in the crowd, too busy staring at the gorgeous man on stage. Thanks to his feline vision, he can make out the absolute heart wrenching expression on the girl’s face.

Husk was stuck between walking towards her and staying in his spot. He’s got a perfect view of Angel on stage, but Cherri clearly needed someone there for her at that moment. Sure they weren’t as close as she and Angel were, but that didn’t mean an acquaintance couldn’t form between them. She could clearly use some comforting right now.

Cherry wiped at her eye hastily as she watched him approach. She forced a grin.

“Hey, old man. Come here often?”

She was quick to mask her emotions. He could see why she and Angel were so close now. He took the empty seat next to her.

“Hey, kid. You alright?”

She waved him off dismissively. “Pfft, ‘m fine. Just Angie and his stupid love songs got me all teary eyed.”

Speaking of the devil, Angel comes rushing to her side in a matter of seconds. Husk hadn’t even realized the song was over.

“Cherri, babes, what’s the matta’?”

The girl scoffed. “Lucifer, you two are annoying. Match made in hell, let me tell ya. I’m fine, you two.”

Angel ignored her. “ He didn’t try to call ya, did he?”

“No! Jeez, Angie, seriously I’m fine!”

Angel turns to him, the worry evident on his face. Though he was curious as to who he was, Husk sighed and took her side.

“She said she’s fine, Angel. Let it go.”

Cherri visibly relaxed, smiling in gratitude. Angel wasn’t too pleased by their response, but he let it go anyway.

“Fine, but if I ever see that bastard-“

“It’s not about him, Angel. Stop that.”

The spider demon finally let it go. The awkward silence between them didn’t last long before Cherri jumped up from her seat.

“Ugh, I’m sick of all this depressing shit. I wanna go blow some stuff up! Who’s with me?”

Angel chuckled. “You go on ahead. I’ll catch up in a second, babe.”

She didn’t have to be told twice. She left the club as if she were running away from something. From what, Husk didn’t know.

“You did great up there, kid.”

Angel blinks in surprise, taken aback by the sudden compliment. He smiled.

“Thanks, kitten.” And that was the end of that conversation.

“I’m worried about her. She hasn’t been herself since-“

“The fight.” Husk finished, “I know. She’ll come around. You did, after all.”

Angel nodded, comforted by his words.

He smirked. “You really think I did good up there, though?”

Husk chuckles by the sudden change of topic.

“Yeah. The best.”

Chapter Text

Hope.

Disbelief.

Frustration.

Relief.

Joy.

What in the everloving hell was he supposed to feel after finding out Molly, his twin sister, was in heaven the entire time? Seriously, what did Charlie expect him to do with that information?

Oh man. Molly…he’d almost forgotten about her.

“Now, Angel, I know it’s a lot to take in, but Emily-”

“Yeah, no shit it’s a lot to take in!”

He’s on the verge of a panic attack, and in the corner of his eye, he can see Charlie debating whether she should approach him or not. He could honestly care less what she did at that point.

“Angel-”

The spider ignores her, bolting out the door instead. He didn’t want to hear another word. The mixture of emotions he felt running through his mind was entirely overwhelming. He was angry at himself for almost forgetting her, curious if she knew he was down there, sad that she was up there all alone. Shit, his mom. Was she in heaven as well? She was a saint when she was alive; there’s no way she’d end up down here with the rest of their family.

He’s in the lobby before he knows it, rushing towards the bar and slamming his top set of hands on the counter.

“Pour me somethin’ strong. The strongest thing you’ve got.”

Husk did so without having to be told twice. Sliding it towards him, Angel grabbed it and threw it back. The bartender didn’t disappoint. It definitely had a kick to it, and all he knew was that it was a clear liquor. He hadn’t even given Husk the chance to state what the contents of the glass were.

“What’s wrong, Legs?”

Angel buried his face in his arms, unable to put into words everything he was feeling. The warmth in his stomach had yet to diminish from his drink. It must’ve been top shelf liquor.

Husk doesn’t ask again. However, he can feel his presence standing before him. It was clear he wasn’t going away anytime soon, not unless Angel gave him a good enough excuse to do so. Having a bartender to talk to was both a good and bad thing, apparently. Angel just wanted to be left alone, alone to digest the brand new information Charlie had just suddenly dumped on him.

He couldn’t get his legs to move, though. His ass was stuck on that stool with the old cat staring down at him.

“Charlie-”

Angel choked up before he could continue. It was a start, he supposed.

But Husk, ever so patient, waited for him to continue.

“My sister, twin sister, she-” Angel sighed. Husk continued to wait patiently, his eyes softening as he watched him struggle to form a coherent sentence. He couldn’t stand being pitied.

Angel runs his hand through his hair in order to collect himself.

“Apparently, she’s been in heaven this whole time and I had no clue.”

Husk hummed in acknowledgment. Angel continued.

“I’d completely forgotten about her, and I don’t know what to think about that.”

He watched Husk closely, hoping he could offer some sort of solution to his problem. Hell, maybe he’d even judge him.

He didn’t.

“Charlie’s plan has been proven to work. Are you actually gonna give redemption a shot, then?”

“I don’t know.”

He was honest, straight to the point.

“What else did Princess say?”

Angel shrugged. He didn’t quite remember anything after she told him about Molly. At the mention of her name, vague memories of his time in the living world flooded in his mind. They were close, practically attached at the hip. He remembers their walks to and back from school, eating meals at the family table, playing outside with the children in the neighborhood, teaming up to mess with their old brother, and so much more than that. So many happy memories.

“You have a chance to see her again, Angel. You know what you gotta do.”

“I know.” Angel sighed.

He circles the rim of the shot glass with the tip of his finger.

It was just so much to process, and unfortunately, he knew what he had to do. Would he be able to do it, though?

He wanted to see her. He wants it more than anything. He doesn’t speak to any other member of his family here in Hell, but the thought of never getting to see Molly again broke his heart in a million pieces.

”Tony. She used to call me Tony.”

Husk smiled softly. “That’s a pretty name.”

Angel blushed. “I guess. It’s short for Anthony, my real name.”

”Anthony.” Husk repeated, testing the new name on his lips before nodding approvingly. “Real pretty name.”

”Aw, Husky, you’re gonna make me blush.”

The bartender ignored him, chuckling as he fixed him another drink. He decides not to tell him it’s too late for that. His white fur didn’t do him justice.

And if Husk added more cranberry juice than vodka to his drink, well, Angel didn’t need to know that.

Chapter Text

Angel stumbled through the doors of the hotel, the sight of the spider demon making the old cat do a double take.

It was late, quarter past 2 AM, yet Husk couldn’t bring himself to retire for the night without making sure Angel had at least made it back safely. Thank Lucifer he’d developed that habit, or else he wouldn’t have been able to leap across the bar counter and catch Angel before he fell face first onto the lobby floor.

Angel lifts his head up to look at him, patting his arm. Husk looks down at him, having a clear view of the bruise forming on his left cheek bone. From what he could see, he also had a busted lip and a couple claw marks on his shoulder, no doubt from the pimp overlord he works for. The bastard couldn’t go a day without laying his hands on him.

Heh, that was a close one ,” was the last thing Angel said before slumping forward again, his eyes falling shut.

Husk placed his arm under the spider’s knees and picked him up bridal style, extending his wings and taking off towards his room.

Under any other circumstance, Husk would’ve brought Angel to his own room, but he knew where the other usually kept his belongings when he didn’t carry a handbag. He wasn’t about to try to dig Angel’s keycard out of his fluffy chest while he was unconscious.

It took him a while to open his door, but once he did, he headed straight for the bed, gently placing the sleeping spider onto it. He made sure Angel was alright and comfortable before grabbing the mini first aid kit Charlie kept in every hotel bathroom.

Ripping open a pack of antiseptic wipes, he begins to gently dab at Angel’s lip. Angel’s eyes flew open once he felt the stinging sensation, scrambling to back away as far as he could from the figure in front of him. Husk immediately switched on his bedside lamp.

“It’s okay. It’s just me.”

At the sight of him, Angel instantly relaxed. He ran his hands through his hair, regaining control of his breathing. He knew he didn’t recognize the room, but the empty bottles of booze on the floor gave him a good idea as to where he was.

“Can I come closer to you?”

Angel nods, appreciating the fact that he asked first and watching as Husk took a seat next to him, bringing the kit closer. He allows him to continue attending to his injuries, the slight stinging occasionally making him wince. Husk apologized every time it happened.

“I did it,” Angel said, breaking the silence. “I stood up to that moth bastard and told him off, told him I wasn’t gonna put up with his bullshit anymore.”

Husk moves his attention down to his tattered sleeve. Angel took off his jacket to make the task easier.

“I’m done with him beatin’ and hittin’ me. Told me I wasn’t gonna do anything I didn’t wanna anymore.”

Husk chuckled, taking note of the pride in Angel’s voice. “That was really brave of you.”

He was going to kill Valentino. If Husk ever caught that motherfucker wandering the streets, he was as good as dead.

“There’s only so much I can do though, ya’ know? He does own my soul.”

Angel sucks in a breath, tucking his knees up to his chest and wrapping his arms around them. Husk decided it was time for a break.

“He’d find and kill me if I eva’ left him. Sometimes I wonder if I should just, I dunno…give up.”

Husk sighed. ”Don’t say that. Please.”

Oh, he was going to absolutely slaughter Valentino.

Angel shrugged nonchalantly. “It’s true.”

“No it’s not, Angel. You don’t deserve to be treated the way that bastard treats you. He shouldn't have so much control over you, especially if you’re only under contract in the studio. He shouldn’t be hurting you like this, and I’m proud of you for standing up for yourself.”

Angel leans forward and wraps his arms around him. Though Husk didn’t consider himself a particularly affectionate person , he let it happen. Angel needed all the comfort he could get, especially after going against his abuser the way that he did. It took guts to do something like that.

The hug went on for longer than he anticipated, and it was only after he heard the sound of soft breathing in his ear did he realize Angel was close to falling asleep on his shoulder.

“I should go close up the bar.” Husk finally speaks, gently removing Angel’s arms from around his body. “You need to get some rest. I’ll take the couch tonight.”

Angel grins, his eyes barely open. “Thanks, Husky. I owe ya one.”

Angel leans in and kisses his cheek, Husk’s brain short circuiting as the feeling of his lips continues to linger on his skin.

Angel was out like a light as soon as his head hit the pillow. He looked so peaceful in the dim lighting of Husk’s shitty lamp. Despite the band-aids on his face, he still looked as beautiful as ever.

To think that someone as cruel as Valentino could hurt and torture such a wonderful person like Angel truly depicted why he of all people deserved his spot here in Hell.

Husk closed the door behind him, making sure to lock the door from the inside first.

He doesn’t spend too much time closing up. It was one of the perks of working at a nearly empty hotel bar. He gave the counter a quick wipe down, washed and polished one or two glasses, put up the liquor bottles where they belong, all the basics.

When it came time to check in for the night, he found that he couldn’t sleep. Laying on the couch, his eyes staring at the ceiling, his brain on overdrive. He wasn’t going to be able to sleep tonight. Too many thoughts in his head. Too many fantasies racing through his mind.

How he longed to wrap his hands around the fucker’s throat and squeeze until he gasped for breath. He wanted him to feel ever ounce of the pain he’d inflicted on Angel and torture him until he begged for mercy. To grab the contract and rip it to shreds, setting Angel free to do as he wished and live a happy life.

And though Husker wasn’t free himself, perhaps there was one thing he could do about it.

When he gambled his soul away to the radio demon, his title and status as an overlord went to complete and utter shit. Alastor took the souls he owned and destroyed the casinos he’d built along with everything else he’d worked so hard for. Everything that used to be his was now Alastor’s.

Husk’s reputation may have been destroyed, but the demons who knew him during his prime time were still smart enough not to mess with him even without his title. After all, he did give up his soul just to keep his power.

He never had an excuse to exercise that power. At least, not until now.

And Valentino was about to see just how powerful Husk still was.
