Work Text:

Darcie couldn't help but feel a bit nervous; her and Pee-wee's wedding was two days away, and she just wanted everything to be perfect. They didn't want a traditional, elegant wedding -- no. They had made plans to get married in the Playhouse, on Valentine's Day.

They had already started decorating the Playhouse; streamers everywhere in every imaginable color, creating a kaleidoscope of hues that reflected her and Pee-wee's exuberant, eccentric personalities.

The sweet scent of candy hearts filled the air, a playful nod to the Valentine's Day theme. Strands of twinkling fairy lights dangled from the ceiling, casting a warm, magical glow throughout the room.

Pee-wee was in charge of arranging the chairs. He insisted on placing them haphazardly around the room, making sure there was no structure or order to them. "It's like abstract art, Darcie!" he had said with his characteristic enthusiasm.

Darcie simply watched her fiancé with a fond smile, her ice blue eyes twinkling in the soft fairy light. She loved this man, this manchild with his grey suit and red bowtie, his nasally voice and unending energy. It was fitting that their wedding be as unique and free-spirited as they were.

"Look at this one, Darcie!" Pee-wee called out from across the room, pointing to a chair he'd set at an angle that seemed almost impossible to achieve. He laughed gleefully at his own handiwork before dashing off to create another abstract masterpiece.

Darcie looked around the Playhouse with a sigh of contentment. The walls, so vibrant and wild, now seemed to shine more vibrantly under the glow of fairy lights. Juxtaposed with Pee-wee's eclectic arrangement of chairs, it looked wonderfully disorderly and perfect -- just like their love story.

She moved towards the makeshift altar, her short stature allowing her to easily duck under the lower hanging streamers. Carefully, she began arranging a variety of vintage toys and knick-knacks from their shared collection around the base of the altar. A colorful patchwork quilt served as their aisle runner, its intricate patterns woven together just like their lives.

Suddenly there was a flash of red and grey from the corner of her eye. She turned to see Pee-wee riding in circles on his beloved scooter, an enormous ribbon banner streaming behind him. "Just practicing my grand entrance!" he called out, his voice echoing around the room.

Darcie shook her head with an amused smile. "You're not seriously going to enter on your scooter, are you, sweetie?"

Pee-wee simply shrugged his shoulders, letting out a playful chuckle. "Why not? It's our wedding, after all! We get to decide how things work!" He punctuated his sentence with a quick spin on the scooter before losing his balance and landing sprawled on the patchwork quilt.

Darcie raced towards him, her laughter harmonizing with his own. She stretched out a helping hand to him, her eyes sparkling with amusement. Pee-wee looked up at her with an impish grin before accepting her hand and allowing himself to be pulled up.

Straightening his suit and bowtie, he pulled Darcie close, wrapping his arms around her. "I meant to do that."

"I know you did, sweetie." Darcie replied, her voice gentle and indulgent. She let herself be pulled in closer, resting her cheek against the warmth of his chest despite the faint musk of scooter tire rubber emanating from him.

Pee-wee held her close, his heart pounding in sync with the rhythm of the distant sound of one of their favorite songs that Conky had put on. He looked down at Darcie, her brown wavy hair spilling over his suit jacket, and he felt an overwhelming rush of love for this woman -- for this petite dynamo that not only put up with his eccentricities, but embraced and loved them just as much as she loved him.

"I can't wait to marry you, Darcie." Pee-wee whispered, his voice slightly choked with emotion. His eyes were shiny in the soft lighting, a tell-tale sign that he was on the brink of tears.

Darcie looked up at him, her ice blue eyes glistening with unshed tears of her own. "I love you, Pee-wee Herman." she said simply. And with those words, she leaned in and captured his lips in a sweet kiss. The room seemed to still in that moment, all sound hushed as they shared this tender moment. Pee-wee returned the kiss eagerly, his arms tightening around her. He could taste the faint trace of the cherry lip gloss she wore, and he pulled back just enough to grin at her.

"You taste like cherries." he stated, quietly.

Darcie laughed in delight, her nose crinkled up in that adorable way Pee-wee loved so much. "And you smell like scooter tires," she retorted playfully, burying her face into his suit to emphasize her point. "I hate to admit, I kinda like the smell..."

Pee-wee's laughter echoed in the room as he spun her around. "Well, you better get used to it then, because I won't stop riding my scooter, even after we're married!"

Darcie smirked at him. "I wouldn't have it any other way."

For a moment, they just stood there, swaying slightly to the rhythm of their own heartbeats, lost in each other's eyes. This was it. This was real. A whirlwind romance between the two of them had brought them here -- to the precipice of their own fairytale ending. And they couldn't wait to take the plunge.

Suddenly, Pee-wee's eyes widened with pure excitement. "I almost forgot!" He released Darcie and rushed over to his chest near their bed, rummaging through it with the kind of child-like enthusiasm that was so uniquely him.

Darcie watched him, her smiling eyes filled with curiosity. She loved seeing him like this -- his energy, his spirit, his contagious joy. It was one of the things that made Pee-wee Herman so lovable, and she was grateful every day that she had found him.

Pee-wee returned, a small, velvet box clutched in his hand. His eyes sparkled with excitement as he opened it, revealing two rings nestled inside. One was a band with the colors of an oil slick. The other was an ornate creation of silver and diamonds, the centerpiece of which was a breathtaking sapphire; as blue and arresting as Darcie's own eyes.

He looked at her expectantly, a boyish eagerness lighting up his features. "They're our wedding rings, Darcie!! I made sure yours would fit with your engagement ring, so you could always wear both." Pee-wee exclaimed, clearly pleased with himself. "And this one," he motioned to the other ring with the colors of an oil slick, "is mine."

Darcie gasped, her hand flying up to cover her mouth as tears welled up in her eyes again. She reached out for the box, letting her fingers brush over the cool metal and the hard brilliance of the gem. They were perfect. Pee-wee had once again managed to surprise her with his thoughtful attention to detail, catering not just to her taste but to their shared love for whimsy and individuality.

"They're breathtaking, Pee-wee." her voice was barely a whisper, overcome with emotion. "I love them. I love you."

Pee-wee's chest swelled with pride at her words. It was a rare instance when the usually animated man was left speechless. His hand found its way to the back of his neck, a nervous tick when he was overwhelmed. His face flushed, matching the intensity of the red bowtie around his collar.

"Well," Pee-wee managed after a moment, his voice trembling slightly, "That makes me the luckiest boy in the world then."

With tears threatening to well up in her eyes again, Darcie reached over to gently cup Pee-wee's cheek with her hand. Her touch was as soft as the whisper of a promise on the night air, and Pee-wee leaned into it, closing his eyes and letting out a small sigh of pure contentment.

"I can't wait to marry you, Pee-wee," she murmured lovingly, her thumb gently tracing the contour of his cheek. "I can't wait to start this new chapter of our lives together; marriage, parenthood... there's no one else I would want to have by my side."

Pee-wee opened his eyes slowly, meeting her gaze with a warmth that made her heart flutter in her chest. "Neither can I, Darcie," he admitted, an earnest smile playing on his lips. "Our adventure is just beginning."

And in that moment, as they held each other close in the soft glow of their shared sanctuary, they both knew the truth of his words. For all the adventures they'd had, for all the excitement and joy and laughter they'd shared, nothing would ever compare to this new journey they were about to embark on.

Notes:

This is all canon to my fic-verse and my roleplay blog on tumblr. And yes, they're gonna be parents! (One of the storylines taking place on the blog right now!) They're so damn cute together.
