Chapter 1: The Next Chapter
Chapter Text
"They may think that they have taken you from me, but nothing and no one can put an end to our love." She heard herself say, almost like a threat to the universe.
"I l-love y-you... K-Katya.. I w-will always.." The girl in her arms barely managed to get out, her body growing weaker by the second, her life force quickly draining.
"I know, my angel. One day, we will be reborn and God will let us be together as we should have been in this life. Destiny may have pulled us apart this time, but I swear our time will come. I will choose you in this lifetime and the next, and every lifetime that comes after. It is you, it will always be you."
Katya woke up in a cold sweat, her bed drenched and gross, and her head aching. She had never had a nightmare like that before, so real, it almost felt like she'd dreaming of something she had experienced before. But that was ridiculous of course, the dream had been set hundreds of years in the past, in some fairy tale like kingdom, and Katya definitely wasn't a princess.
She was far from it honestly.
She was a freelance mural painter who'd made it her personal mission to make her body her canvas too, so now her arms were covered in her artwork and that of her tattoo artist. She mostly wore black or red, mostly leather jackets, tanks and ripped jeans, and hardly ever any dresses. Impulse decisions was her way of life, always trying to live life to the fullest and jumping from project to project without an ounce of hesitation.
And yet, a dream of her being a princess without the control to save her lover had her mind working overtime... It had just seemed so real... Maybe that was just it though, that it was true to her biggest fear; her not being in control of her own life. Maybe that's what the source of the nightmare had been, and the reason her mind was lingering on it.
It somehow felt like it meant something more though...
Of course that might also just have been the fact that she'd just seen her ideal woman die in her arms, 'cause if there's one thing the dream had gotten right it was her type. Large brown eyes, soft pink lips, rounded features, long blonde curls, and an absolutely stunningly perfect body with prominent curves.
Was it strange to admit she had kinda been checking the girl out?
Probably.
Most likely.
Definitely.
"Get a grip, Katya." She told herself as she shook her head and got out of bed.
She took a long shower, despite running late, quickly got dressed, and headed out the door with a piece of burnt toast it hand. She'd probably get something else on the way, she thought, although she knew she was more likely to skip breakfast all together.
"Kats, where have you been?" Courtney asked once she arrived at their office for the day. "Seriously, this is a huge gig and I was freaking out at you not showing up on time. You couldn't have texted me?"
"Sorry, I had a really strange dream, woke up in a cold sweat... By the time I woke up I just kinda kept my focus on getting here."
"Oh, you okay?"
"Yeah, all good, don't worry about it." Katya told her before looking around at the room they were standing in. "So... this is very... pink?"
"Yeah, that's kinda a brand thing with Trixie Cosmetics, it's very Barbie vibes." Courtney tells her with a small laugh, clearly not at all surprised by Katya's lacking knowledge of the company.
"Well, Barbie mural it is then, I guess." Katya replied with a laugh, unable to fully digest how intensely pink the room was, every single piece of furniture being a different shade.
"Oh, I wouldn't be opposed to that at all!" An unfamiliar voice chimed in from down the hall. As the girl the voice belonged to walked closer to them Katya's eyes widened, 'cause what she was seeing seemed impossible to process.
"It's you. The girl in my dream... it was you."
Chapter 2: The Girl Of My Dreams
Chapter Text
"It's you. The girl in my dream... it was you."
“Huh?” The unfamiliar yet familiar blonde replied in a confused tone.
“Oh, uhm, never mind.” Katya told her with rose-colored cheeks, realizing how insane her statement had just sounded. “It was nothing, just forget about it.”
“Hmm, I’m not sure I believe you, but I suppose I have no choice but to let it slide this time.” The blonde replied with a slight smirk.
“Miss Mattel, I’m Courtney Act. We spoke on the phone?” Courtney cut in, holding out her hand for the woman to take.
“Ah yes, it’s so nice to finally meet you, Courtney. I’m so happy to have you guys on board for this project. And it’s Trixie, please.”
”Happy to be working with you, Trixie.” Courtney replied with a smile before turning her attention towards her friend. “Katya, this is Trixie Mattel, the founder and CEO of Trixie Cosmetics.”
“Oh, you don’t know who I am?” Trixie asked in a surprised tone.
“Should I?” Katya asked.
“Please excuse her... Katya lives under a rock.” Courtney commented, feeling slightly embarrassed by her business partner, but luckily Trixie looked more amused than offended by the fact.
”People just usually do these days, but honestly it’s refreshing to meet someone who doesn’t. I’m Trixie, I look forward to working with you.”
“Katya.” She said as she greeted the woman. “I look forward to working with you too.”
“So Katya, Courtney tells me that you’re the artist out of the two of you. Any ideas for this space?”
“I’d have to learn a bit more about the company and you, I think. But if you’re a Barbie fan we could do a Barbie silhouette style mural, but with your silhouette instead.” Katya told her as she imagined how it would look on the wall in front of them, her mind mapping out the required space for the piece. “Maybe with your company logo in the corner of it?”
“Hmm, well that is very on brand for me. I’m often called the human Barbie doll by the media, you know?”
”Fitting nickname.” Katya commented, her eyes scanning over the impossibly perfect body of the blonde.
“I know, right?” Trixie replied with a proud smile and an exaggerated toss of her hair.
”You’d have to model for me though, might take an hour or two, maybe even more.”
“I can think of worse things than spending an hour or two with you.” Trixie told her, sounding surprisingly flirtatious, causing Katya’s heartbeat to speed up slightly.
“Ehehmm, I’m still here you know.” Courtney chimed in. “Or should I leave you two alone?”
“Shut up, Court.” Katya said, nudging her friend with her elbow. “I swear we’re usually very professional.”
“What a shame, I kinda liked you being rough around the edges.” Trixie replied with a smirk and a mischievous glimmer in her eyes.
“I can be rough in other ways too.” Katya thought to herself before stating; “Don’t worry, I’m never too polite.”
“Glad to hear it.” Trixie told her with a smile before checking her watch. “Well, I’ve gotta run, but feel free to look around the space some more and contact me with anything you need. Courtney, you have my number so give it to Katya so we can communicate directly, okay?”
“Of course, I’ll make sure she has your info.” Courtney replied.
“I look forward to seeing more of you and your work.” Trixie said, her eyes never leaving Katya’s.
“I look forward to seeing more of you, miss Mattel.” Katya told her.
“Meet my expectations and I’ll make sure you will.” The blonde replied before turning on her heal and walking away, leaving Katya standing there with her heart racing and her mouth slightly agape.
“So, you’ll want to mostly work on this alone?” Courtney asked with a knowing smirk.
”Absolutely.”
“Thought so.”
Chapter 3: The Ink On Your Skin
Chapter Text
Trixie couldn't help but blush at the way Katya stared at her as she mapped out her lines and curves in her sketchbook.
She wasn't quite sure what it was about the girl that made her so intrigued, but there was just something about the way she seemed to take such care in capturing every detail on Trixie's face and body despite knowing she only really needed the silhouette of her upper body that fascinated Trixie more than it probably should. The gaze in her eyes was so intense that Trixie thought she might stare right through her, almost as if it burned into her skin yet still had a tenderness that made Trixie feel comfortable and safe.
It was all so fascinatingly contracting, and Trixie just wanted to spend every hour of every day trying to figure out what other contradictions Katya lived by.
Then there was the fact that Katya hadn't known who she was, that too fascinated her. Not because she was offended, but because every single person Trixie had been interested in and tried dating had turned out to only want to date her to sell or post about the story afterwards, so the thought of befriending or dating someone who couldn't have approached her because of her success was extremely refreshing.
Trixie had originally thought of becoming a country singer, but she'd ended up in modeling instead, being scouted at only 14. Her family didn't have a lot of money, so she'd jumped at the chance, not knowing how difficult it would turn out to be. She'd left home only weeks after and moved into a dorm with six other young models, all of which had their weight carefully managed by their agency. Trixie had always been on the rounder side, and hadn't even considered that they'd want to change that, but Lord was she wrong.
She should probably have quit, it would've caused her far less pain and depressive thoughts, but her family needed the money, so she kept going. It wasn't until she passed out on the catwalk nearly two years later that she realized she had to do something about her eating habits.
So with the help of a trained psychologist and a couple friends from back home, she managed to change her mindset, started gaining back her weight again, and became a spokesperson for showing healthy and diverse bodies in fashion. From there she went on to do makeup on YouTube to scrape by, eventually gaining enough traction to start her own makeup company which specialized in vegan products and an all inclusive shade range.
Trixie Cosmetics had gone on to become one of the world's most popular makeup brands, still reaching new heights every day, and Trixie couldn't be happier.
It truly was her pride and joy.
It had been a long journey, but it had all been worth it.
But dating is difficult when fame is involved. There's always the uncertainty linked to whether or not it's really you or the fame people are after. So meeting someone who's got no idea who you are?
You treasure that like it's your favorite childhood toy.
Of course, it wasn't really professional to think about the possibility of dating someone who was simply around to do a job for you, but Trixie couldn't help it. Especially not after Katya's comment about Trixie looking like a girl she'd dreamed about. Not to mention the way she seemed completely down to throw some flirty banter back and forth.
As Katya continued to sketch, Trixie let her eyes travel down her defined arms. She admired the artwork drawn in ink that adorned the muscles, the small creepy and quirky details that would make no sense on anyone else and yet seemed to fit Katya's personality perfectly. Trixie was certain that most of the tattoos had been drawn by Katya herself, the style too similar to the various sketches and reference photos she'd seen of Katya's murals to be anyone else's work. She found herself fantasizing about following the lines of ink with her tongue, coloring her skin with love bites as she tried to discover every part of Katya's body that was blessed with artwork.
"You okay, Trixie?" Katya suddenly asked.
"Hmm? What?" Trixie replied, the sound of the painter's voice pulling her mind out of the sewer it was diving into.
"Are you alright? You just looked a little uncomfortable and flushed. I hope you know you can ask for a break if you need it."
"Yeah, no. I'm good... I promise." Trixie quickly replied with a nervous smile, realizing she'd have to be far more careful in the future so she didn't scare Katya away.
Chapter 4: The Images In My Mind
Chapter Text
"One day, Trixie, one day you shall be my Queen." Katya spoke sweetly as she held Trixie's hand up to her lips and kissed it softly.
"Katya, such a suggestion is treason... Do not forget that you are an equal to the Gods who reside in Heaven, whilst I am a mere pebble in the rich man's shoe."
"You are no such thing! You... are surely the daughter of a Goddess, a light gifted to this world. Heaven, my angel, is in your arms. Salvation is in your kiss. And the water of life... that is between your legs." Katya said as she kissed the girl wherever she could reach, her hand traveling between the maid's legs.
"Katya!" Trixie scolded out of embarrassment, feeling quite shy by the remarks made by the Princess.
"What? It is the truth. You, Trixie, are a miracle sent by the Gods, given to this earth as a wondrous gift. And I will have you think of yourself as nothing less."
Trixie awoke suddenly, feeling a familiar wetness between her legs and a deep red blush growing on her cheeks. What the hell had she been dreaming about?
She had been dressed as a maid and Katya as a princess, a far cry from what they looked like in real life, but still the dream had seemed so real... almost like a memory.
Maybe it was her mind playing tricks on her, her attraction to Katya subconsciously growing out of control. It was unprofessional to think of someone who was simply around her to do a job like that, she knew that well, but something about Katya just drew her in.
From the moment she had laid eyes on Katya she had known the woman was special, her strong desire for the woman growing soon after. It was ridiculous really, to feel so drawn to someone she'd only just met, but Trixie couldn't help it. Katya had her completely entranced, heat growing inside her whenever they locked eyes, an intense desire to reach out and touch Katya filling her more and more for each day that passed.
Trixie felt her clit throb as visions of Katya filled her mind, the small bundle of nerves practically begging to be touched. She bit her lip as she looked at the clock on her bedside table. It was 9 already and she had to at the office by 10, but she could probably finish quickly enough, right?
Slowly she let her hand travel down her body, imagining it was Katya touching her as she finally reached her desired destination. She grabbed one of her boobs with her other hand, pinching her nipple as she slipped a finger inside of herself.
She sighed in relief as the waves of pleasure took over, her mind replaying the strange dream and mixing it with new thoughts of Katya fucking her against the mural she was painting.
Suddenly another dreamlike image took over her mind, and that strange familiar feeling filled her once more. Katya was dressed in similar royal clothing as she had been in the dream, but this time Trixie was slowly undressing her, unveiling more and more of her porcelain skin and kissing every inch of it. Trixie moaned as the image grew more vivid, the taste of Katya so clearly present on her tongue even though she had never tasted her.
She moved her fingers faster, thrusting them in and out of her wet pussy. She could almost look into Katya's eyes, the ocean like eyes in her imagination guiding her like a lighthouse. With every movement her imagination got wilder, Princess Katya and Painter Katya mixing with each other, an entrancing kaleidoscope of images overwhelming her senses.
Every thought was of Katya.
Every movement was by Katya.
Every sound was for Katya.
Perhaps it was insane.
No, it most definitely was, Trixie decided.
But right now, she couldn't care less.
She was being pulled over the red line, even though she knew she might not be able to turn back once she crossed it, but that was something she'd willingly risk.
She wanted Katya.
No, she needed her, and with every lustfilled image that became more and more apparent.
"Fuck! KATYAAAAaahh!" She practically screamed out as she came harder than she had in months. She fell back against the mattress, euphoric exhaustion taking over as she took several deep breaths. As she laid there contently, her eyes soon fell shut, all thoughts of work completely forgotten as she traveled to the land of dreams once more.
Chapter 5: The Time For Us
Chapter Text
"There is a timeline for us, I know there must be. There must be a time where I will get to stay by her side until the end of our days. I'd happily borrow the wind to ride across the oceans of time if it would allow me to hold her in my arms one more time."
Katya didn't know where the words had come from, but they had been echoing in her head all morning, like a promise from a different lifetime. Once again she tried to shake her head to shake the repeating words out, turning her attention back to the mural. Shades of pink covered the wall in a perfect silhouette of Trixie, and soon enough Katya stepped back to take it all in, admiring the finished product.
"It's perfect." Katya said to herself.
"It is." A familiar voice answered, causing Katya to turn around to face it.
"I'm glad you think so too. Would kinda suck if you hated it." Katya told Trixie with a laugh.
"Well, luckily for you I don't. I'm a little sad you're done though, gonna miss seeing you first thing when I come into work."
"Please, you're just gonna miss staring at my ass." Katya boldly replied, only realizing what she had said a moment later. "Sorry, that was so unprofessional, I didn't-"
"Yeah, I am." Trixie stated, cutting her off. "I've been kinda putting this off cause I didn't wanna come across as creepy seeing as you were just here to do a job, but... I'd love to take you out sometime... if you're interested?"
"Wow, I'm not used to being the one who's asked, usually I'm the one doing the asking." Katya said with a sweet laugh. "But yeah, I'd love to."
"Oh good! Sorry, just was really trying to seem all cool about it, but I've been really nervous to ask you." Trixie said cutely, a sweet rosy blush coating her cheeks.
"You're adorable."
"Woman of your dreams, aren't I?" Trixie said, her courage growing again from Katya's comment.
"Huh?"
"Don't you remember? The first time we met... you said I was the women from your dream." Trixie said, completely failing to mention that she had since had very intimate dreams about Katya.
Katya did remember, most of all because every night since had been filled with Trixie, each one more vivid than the last. Sometimes it was almost as if she could feel Trixie's skin on hers, feel their lips touching... It felt more like regaining memories than it felt like dreaming, so much so that she had started looking into the psychology of people remembering past lives.
"Oh yeah, right.. Yeah, I remember." Katya replied.
"Sorry, too weird?" Trixie asked nervously.
"No, you're good. Don't worry. Also, I'm as weird as they come, so I really don't think anything you say could be too weird for me."
"Well, weirdness follows me wherever I go, so I guess you're gonna follow me too then." Trixie said with a teasing smile.
"Oh really?" Katya replied. "Somehow I don't think I'd mind that."
"I don't think I'd mind either." Trixie answered in a soft tone.
"Then as the Queen of Weird I shall follow thee, sweet maiden." Katya said jokingly as she took Trixie's hand and kissed it softly. As Katya's lips touched her skin, Trixie felt a throbbing pain in her head as an unfamiliar scene filled her mind.
“Then will you promise to never let go of the hand you are holding now?” Trixie asked, feeling her heart melt at the Princess’s words. “Will you protect me and stay by me no matter what happens?”
“Yes, I promise. I will never let go of your hand, no matter what happens.”
"Trix? Trixie, are you alright?" She heard Katya said as the moment passed.
"Huh? Oh, yes, I just... I don't know... I got a sudden headache I think..."
"Hmm.. maybe you should try eating something? Or drinking some water?" Katya suggested.
"Yeah.. I might try that." Trixie said. "I'll see you later..."
"Yeah, I look forward to it. We can talk about that date." Katya replied with a kind but slightly worried smile as Trixie stepped away towards her office.
"What was that?" Trixie asked herself as she sat down in her office chair, holding her aching head with one hand. "It seemed like an unfamiliar memory... But it couldn't have been... Could it?"
Chapter 6: The Lost Kingdom
Chapter Text
"You look incredible." Katya told the CEO as she guided her into the restaurant.
"Thank you. You do too." Trixie replied, taking in the sight of Katya's tattoos which were very much on display through the thin layer of mesh that covered her arms. Katya's dress left little to the imagination, clinging to every muscle and curve, making Trixie's desire to tear it off her body ever growing. "It's a strange name for a restaurant, don't you think?"
"Saireov? Yeah, I suppose it is."
"It sounds... Russian? In that way I guess it suits you. You are Russian, right?" Trixie said.
"Yeah, I am or well, my grandparents on my dad's side are. I don't really know much Russian though." Katya replied.
"I see. Well, I only speak English, so.." Trixie said with a slight giggle. "So why'd you pick this place?"
"Well, firstly the food is great. Secondly, I know they're very passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ rights, so I guess I just figured it was a nice way to make sure we'll have a good time without uncomfortable interruptions." Katya told her.
"Ah, that makes sense. Sometimes I forget that there are still bigoted assholes out there."
"Yeah, I might be a bit cautious, but I've had some really bad experiences so... Better safe than sorry." Katya said.
"Hello there, I'm Violet. I'll be your server this evening. What can I get you?" A tall woman with nearly black hair and pale skin told them as she walked up to their table. She looked like she could be a model and Katya wondered for a moment why she wasn't before starting to wonder why the woman looked so oddly familiar.
"Sorry, have we met before?" Katya asked suddenly.
"Uhm no?" Violet replied. "I don't think so?"
"Katya?" Trixie asked, seeming very nervous all of a sudden.
"Sorry, you just looked familiar, that was all." Katya told the waitress before turning towards Trixie. "Sorry Trixie, I didn't mean anything by it, I swear."
"Alright then.." Trixie said, seeming to believe her. "I'll just have the Soup à la Saireov. I assume it's the house specialty?"
"Ah yes, an excellent choice. It is actually a many hundred year old recipe from the lost Kingdom of Saireov." Violet told her.
"The lost Kingdom of Saireov? Is that a real thing?" Katya asked.
"Oh yes, it's the home of one of the oldest recounted queer love stories. The Princess and Her Maid, the tale of the undying love the Princess of Saireov had for a low class maid. That's why the owners decided to name the restaurant Saireov." Violet explained.
"You are the Royal Princess of Saireov! You must act like it!" The Queen screamed at her.
"Exactly! I am the Royal Princess of Saireov and I refuse to be used as a pawn. Try all you will, Mother, but I will not marry, I will never marry. Know that this is your punishment for taking her life, for stealing her from me. Now you must live with the shame of having an unmarried spinster for a daughter, and I must live the pain of loosing the love of my life."
Katya held her head, the ache settling in quickly. She quickly shook it off, remembering where she was and not wanting to worry Trixie too much. Still she couldn't help but wonder what it all meant... Were these frequently appearing flashes a mere coincidence? Her imagination running wild? Or was it truly a life long forgotten?
"Are you alright?" Trixie asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine, don't worry." Katya promised. "I'll have the soup as well, thank you. And maybe a bottle of wine, would be nice?"
"That sounds good, yeah." Trixie agreed.
"Alright, should I just choose one which fits the soup well? Or would you like to see the wine meny? All of our wines are within the same general price range."
"Just pick what you'd recommend, thanks." Katya told Violet.
"Perfect, I'll be right back with that then." Violet said before taking her leave.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Trixie asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Katya assured her once again. "So, tell me about yourself. I feel like we never really did the whole life story introduction thing."
"Well, I don't really make a habit of recounting my life story to employees."
"Hey, I'm freelance, baby! I don't work for you, I'm my own boss. You can recount your life story to me any day." Katya said jokingly.
"Well, alright then, baby." Trixie said with a cheeky smile. "I originally wanted to be a singer-songwriter, but ended up in modeling instead, which kinda broke me... The modeling business is a bitch... I ended up needing a lot of therapy, but luckily I had a family and some really good friends to support me, and ever since I've been advocating for health and diversity in fashion. That's really where Trixie Cosmetics started, first with a YouTube channel that was originally made to highlight brands who were health and diversity focused, and later to the brand it is today."
"You're incredible." Katya said in awe. "I can't imagine taking your pain and hardships and converting into something so important and successful."
"Well, you're an artist, right? Isn't converting pain into something beautiful kinda what you do too?" Trixie questioned.
"I've never thought about it that way, but I suppose you could say that. I don't really think the commercial murals show much of my heart and feelings though."
"Maybe they could? How about you make me another one? One for my office, something personal?" Trixie suggested.
"I'd love that. Free reigns?" Katya asked.
"Yeah, I trust you." Trixie said with a soft smile.
"Here you go, ladies." Violet said as she put down two bowls of soup and poured wine in both of their glasses, leaving the bottle on the table. "Enjoy."
"Cheers." Trixie said, raising her glass. "To converting pain into beauty."
"To converting pain into beauty." Katya agreed, clinking her glass with Trixie's.
Chapter 7: The Flame Within Us
Chapter Text
"I had a really good time." Trixie said as they walked up to her front door.
"I did too." Katya replied. "I'd love to do it again sometime."
"I'd like that."
"Well, goodnight." Katya said before leaning in for a kiss. She thought it would be quick and sweet, a symbol of love beginning, and she did not want to overstep Trixie's boundaries by coming on too strong. But once their lips met an insatiable hunger filled her all of a sudden, the taste of Trixie's lips like the sweetest love potion. Burning desire took a hold of her and so the kiss grew more passionate. Suddenly she was pushing Trixie up against the door, desperate to feel her close, even the thin layers of their clothing feeling as if they left too much space between them.
Trixie moved through the halls like a magnet pulling Katya towards her. She was like an unknowing siren, luring her closer with every simple movement. Her light laugh, her sweet smile, her blonde curls which fell down over her large, soft bosom. Katya wanted so badly to touch her, taste her, feel her in ways she had not felt before.
The memory-like thought filled her mind, but she paid it no attention, although she couldn't help but agree with the contents of it. Still, she forced her mind to focus fully on Trixie. Her plump lips, her soft hands, her intoxicating sounds.
"Do you... Do you want to come inside?" Trixie asked as they were forced apart by their need to breathe.
"Yeah, yes." Katya replied not even a second later.
Trixie quickly unlocked the door and dragged Katya inside. They hurried towards Trixie's bedroom, loosing their clothes gradually on the way. Undressing in a perfect duet of clumsy passion.
"Fuck..." Katya whispered as Trixie's fully naked form was unveiled. "You are a Goddess, surely... Cleanse me of my sins, oh sweet Goddess, for I have been filled with unspeakable desires."
"Oh really?" Trixie replied with a raised eyebrow as she giggled at Katya's silliness.
"Yes, my body and mind have been filled with sin and only you can cleanse me." Katya continued with a cheeky smile.
"You are such a dork."
"And somehow, you're still into me." Katya replied.
"I never said that." Trixie countered.
"I really doubt that I'd be in your bed if you weren't."
"Touché." Trixie replied before diving in for another passionate kiss.
Her lips soon traveled elsewhere however, moving down little by little. She sucked and licked Katya's breasts, her skilled tongue making sure to give her nipples the utmost attention before continuing down. If Katya had truly wanted to be cleansed, Trixie was more than happy to oblige as her tongue entered between the girl's folds, diving deep into her and curling up deliciously.
"Oh Trixie... Fuck, that feels so good..." Katya moaned as her fingers curled themselves around the roots of Trixie's hair, needing her closer, and closer still. "Uhh, don't stop..."
Trixie's fingers entered her then as she sucked hard on Katya's clit, the contact nearly too much for the sensitive bundle of nerves as her fingers thrust in and out of Katya's wetness. Katya's moans grew louder, her heartbeat speeding up as her breath grew desperate, the sweet promise of release growing nearer and nearer.
"Oh... Oh God... fuck... Tr-Trix, I-I'm so close." Katya moaned as she tried to push down on Trixie's fingers, chasing her climax. "UUHH TRIXIE!"
Katya's arms grew heavy, her hand loosing it's hold on Trixie's head, allowing the girl to move her head from where it was buried between her legs. Trixie lifted her head then, showing off the wetness on the fingers she withdrew from Katya before slowly licking them clean. Katya was entranced by her deep, hooded eyes as she moaned from the taste of Katya's juices.
"God, you... you're perfect." Katya said breathlessly before pulling Trixie in for another passionate kiss.
“Was that alright?” Trixie asked, suddenly feeling her confidence disappear all at once.
“That... was perfect. You are perfect.” Katya said softly before turning to capture Trixie’s lips in a loving kiss, silently praying that God would allow her to spend every morning for the rest of her life with the girl.
“Good.” Trixie whispered with a shy smile as they pulled away.
The sudden image made Katya withdraw from the kiss, her head aching once again.
"Are you alright?" Trixie asked.
"Yeah, sorry... I just got a... I don't know exactly. It seemed like a flash of a memory... but I can't actually remember it. I've been getting them quite a bit lately." Katya explained. "I must sound crazy."
"No... I think I know what you mean.. I've had some weird dreams as of late that showed... nevermind." Trixie said as she settled down on the bed beside Katya. "Anyways, maybe you should look into it? Try to figure out if it is really a memory or just your mind playing tricks?"
"Yeah... That's really smart." Katya told her. "Sorry, I really ruined the mood, didn't I?"
"Don't worry about it, it's alright to need to talk. I'm here for you."
"Thanks Trixie." Katya said sincerely before sending Trixie a cheeky smile. "Not just for the advice."
"Oh fuck off, you idiot." Trixie said with a smile as she playfully pushed Katya.
"Nah, I think I'll stay right here." Katya replied, hugging Trixie close and kissing the top of her head.
Chapter 8: The Land I Once Knew
Chapter Text
"Katya, don't you think this is a bit insane?" Courtney asked. "You're really gonna travel all the way to New York to look into this?"
"I know it's insane, but I also think me seeing visions of a past I don't remember is insane. I need to figure this out, Court. You heard the owners of Saireov, my best bet to learn anything detailed is to travel to New York and find the book about the love story." Katya insisted. "But hey, if you're worried, come with me."
"I can't, Kat. I've got plans this weekend."
"Ooh, anyone special?" Katya asked.
"Maybe? It's early still, I'll have to see." Courtney said shyly.
"Well, I'm rooting for you." Katya replied. "But I expect details when I get back."
"I'm rooting for you too. I hope you find whatever it is you're looking for."
"Thanks, Court." Katya said as she put her bag in the car, ready to drive to the airport.
"Call me if you need anything." Courtney said before pulling Katya in for a tight hug.
"I will."
The journey to New York went smoothly, especially since Katya slept through the entire flight. She didn't have a lot of time in the city and so after dropping off her bag at the hotel, she went straight to the New York Public Library. She had called in advance, hoping to get a definite answer that the library still had the book, but unfortunately they couldn't find it in their systems, the librarian did however say that the book might still be there despite not coming up in the digital search, something Katya hoped to be the case.
"Hi, I called here a couple days ago about a book called Yekaterina of Saireov, it's supposed to be a historical record of sorts. I think it's maybe 200-300 years old?" Katya told one of the librarians.
"Ah, yes. You talked to Ron, right?"
"Yes, I think that was his name." Katya replied.
"I'll call him here, hang on a second." The woman told her kindly.
"Thanks." Katya said, waiting about three minutes before a man with bright blue hair came to greet her.
"Hey, I'm Ron."
"Katya. We spoke on the phone?"
"Yes, you're looking for Yekaterina of Saireov?"
"Yeah, that's right." Katya confirmed.
"Well, it didn't show up in any searches, but I could find a physical record that show us having it, so my guess is it's somewhere in the building still." Ron stated.
"Well, that narrows it down." Katya said sarcastically as she glanced around at the endless rows of books.
"Yeah... But it's probably not out here at all. It's two hundred and fifty years old, they wouldn't leave it out on the shelves even if it is only a reconstruction of the original." Ron explained.
"Oh... Yeah, that makes sense."
"Follow me." Ron said with a slight laugh, leading the way towards one of the storage rooms marked Staff Only. "This is where most of our old history books end up. You know, the ones that aren't most sought after."
"Yeah, I suppose not many people come in to look for up the history of Saireov." Katya replied.
"No, you'd be the first in like forty or fifty years, I think? It's fun for me though, I'm kind of a lost history nerd."
"Really? What do you know about Saireov?" Katya asked.
"I know it was small enough to not be included on all maps during it's existence, situated somewhere between what is Georgia and Russia today, and from all accounts found in the records of states they fought with, they were a very strict and unforgiving people. Most accounts name the realm as quite brutal, honestly."
"Do you know when it disappeared?"
"From what I know it's believe to have been taken over around a thousand years after Yekaterina of Saireov was written." Ron told her as he lead her into a room of glass cabinets filled with books. "This is were we keep the more fragile pieces of historic literature. If we've got the book, it's here somewhere."
"So divide and conquer, I guess?" Katya said.
"Sounds like a plan."
The hours ticked by as they combed through shelf after shelf of ancient books, desperately searching for the right one. Katya was almost about to give up, when Ron shouted;
"I found it!"
"Are you serious?" Katya asked, rushing over to him.
"Yes, here it is." He said holding out the tired looking manuscript.
"Hmm, the language looks similar to Russian, but still, not like Russian?"
"Yeah, it's Saeiv, a relative to both Russian and Georgian. Saeiv was quite unique as it was both a Slavic and Kartvelian language. There are no known living translators which is part of the reason why this book isn't used much as a source for Saireovian culture. All that's really known about it is that it tells the story of the Princess Yekaterina and her female maid which is believed to have happened around 500 BCE which would make it one of the earliest recorded queer love stories." Ron explained. "I don't know if you'll get much more from it, but here you go anyways."
"Thank you, I don't really know what I expect to find either, but I really appreciate it."
"No problem. Now, you're welcome to sit here and read it for a while, just please use gloves. You can find them in the box over there. And no food or drinks near the books. It's a reconstruction, but we still want it protected."
"Alright, thanks. I'll make sure to be careful." Katya promised.
"I'll leave you to it then. I'll be back in two hours." Ron said as he left the room.
Chapter 9: The Life Once Lived
Chapter Text
Katya scanned the odd letters and unfamiliar words, wondering if all of her hard work to obtain the book had been a complete waste of time when suddenly the words in front of her clicked in her mind, reading it all of a sudden seeming just as easy as reading her mother tongue.
"As no one will pay attention to my words in my lifetime, I write these simple truths down. The truth of the love story which the King and Queen would have the Kingdom forget. This is a land with little forgiveness or kindness, and yet it gave birth to a Princess who opened her heart to what she could never have, a forbidden love story. This is the story that awaits you now, but I must warn you, in our unforgiving land there can be no true happy endings.
Still, seldom has there been a love more pure, a love more true, and a love more worth fighting for than that of Princess Yekaterina Petrovna Zamolodchikova and her darling Beatrice." Katya read to herself, having barely finished reading the names before a headache like she had never known took over. A piercing pain shot through her and flashes of another life filled her head.
Princess Yekaterina's life.
Her life.
From the very beginning of the forbidden love story.
"My birth name is Beatrice, but I prefer to go by Trixie." The maid told her.
"Trixie, how unique..."Katya mumbled with a soft smile, uncertain as to why it mattered to her at all.
To it's shimmering days of naive joy.
"Your Majesty..."
"Katya, please... Please, let me be simply be Katya. Let me simply be a woman falling in love, nothing more, nothing less."
"You are falling in love with me?" Trixie asked in disbelief.
"Trixie... I have loved you from the very first moment I saw you." Katya said as she took Trixie’s hand in hers and placed a sweet kiss in the palm of it. "All I can see is you. All I can think of is you. All I can dream of is you... And all I want is you."
To the realization of it's harsh realities.
"I... I had nearly forgotten the true danger my love causes you, but you are right... For every day we remain, the thread of your life turns thinner... Oh, what a fool I have been..." Katya nearly whispered, feeling the weight of her carelessness.
"It is not your fault, Katya, we were both swept away by this intense beauty of this love. We both threw caution to the wind."
"Well, I shall do my best to protect you now at least. Pack your things at once, we shall leave before dawn tomorrow. I only have a few affairs to settle and then I shall be free to leave this realm with you. We shall find our paradise, angel." Katya promised.
To it's unbearably painful end.
“Nothing could ever stop my love for you, not in life nor death. In my eyes you will always remain the same, just as beautiful as the first time I saw you. In my memory you will forever live on. In my heart we will always be together. I... I love you, Trixie, now until forever.” Katya promised as she leaned down to kiss Trixie’s lips one last time. “They may think that they have taken you from me, but nothing and no one can put an end to our love.”
“I l-love y-you... K-Katya.. I w-will always..” Trixie barely managed to get out, her body growing weaker by the second, her life force quickly draining.
“I know, my angel. One day, we will be reborn and God will let us be together as we should have been in this life. Destiny may have pulled us apart this time, but I swear our time will come. I will choose you in this lifetime and the next, and every lifetime that comes after. It is you, it will always be you.”
“And w-will choose y-y-you.. A-always...”
Thousands of memories flew through her mind like arrows piercing the air, and suddenly every strange dream and vision made perfect sense.
"I remember.." Katya whispered. "I remember everything."
But just as the joy of remembering and the realization that the lifetime she had wished for so dearly had finally been given to them hit, as did the heartache from loosing Trixie once, and the fear of having it happen again.
"I'll protect you this time, my angel. I refuse to let destiny pull apart ever again."
Chapter 10: The Sacrifice Made
Chapter Text
"As sorrowful a tale it is I leave you with, I pray you still shall see it is a testament to the existence of eternal love. The Princess lived for years, but never betrayed her dearest Beatrice, never married, nor took a lover, her heart forever spoken for. And so I write this story, so the truth may be known, that this love they shared was pure and true, and no other shall ever compare.
Dear Katya, I could not bring her back to your side, but with this at least your love shall forever be remembered. No one can twist your story or change your fate. I hope this will bring your soul peace. Your Violet." Katya read to herself as she finished the last page.
Violet.
Of course this was her work.
Had there ever been a more selfless person?
Katya remembered how much she had struggled in the years following Trixie's passing and knew very well that without Violet's help, she would never have lived until her old age. As lonely as her life was during her final years, she at least got the chance to know her nephews and nieces, times she would not have wanted to be without.
But without Violet, things would have turned out very differently.
"I hear her... All I see is her... the blood.... the pain... the hurt my foolishness caused... It is all my fault... my fault..."
"Katya, please just come back inside. I beg of you." Violet pleaded.
"I hear her... she's calling for me... It is my fault... all my fault... But she's calling... I hear her..."
"No, it is not her, it is your mind playing tricks. It is the cruel trick of guilt, Katya. Please, she wouId have wanted you to live, she would want you happy." Violet insisted. "I know the ghosts that haunt you, but please come back inside. Let me protect you, please. Please Princess, stay away from harm, do not let your guilt take over."
"I see her... I hear her screams... I hear her... over and over and over she calls... Please, just let me close my eyes." Katya said as she stepped closer to the end of the cliff.
"Katya no! Please, just step away from the ledge. It will be fine in time, you will be fine, I swear it. We can get through this together, just come back inside, I pray you. Please, Princess, return to your chambers. Beatrice... Beatrice... she.. She is waiting for you there!"
"She is?" Katya nearly whispered.
"Yes, she is. Just come back inside, she is there. Please Princess, return to your chambers. She is waiting for you." Violet lied as she guided Katya back inside the safety of the palace walls.
"I know you lied... I know she is not here..." Katya said weakly, a tear rolling down her cheek. "I am sorry... I did not want to... I just... I miss her so much... I miss her too much..."
"I know. I know you do, love." Violet said, helping Katya lie down in her bed again. "And I truly hope one day you will find your way to her side again. I know it is the only thing that will mend your heart... even if I wish it was not..."
It wasn't fair to her. Katya had known that Violet was in love with her, and yet she had asked her to be the Head of the Princess's Household, knowing that she'd have to listen to Katya's endless mourning and care for her like a mother would their child. It was a selfish ask, and yet Violet had never truly complained, nor asked to be moved to another station. Katya knew she felt guilt for their attempt to elope, but it still amazed her to this day that Violet had agreed to stay as her main maid despite all that had happened, and apparently even taken the time to record her and Trixie's story out of fear of historians changing it.
She knew all too well the heartache she had caused the woman by keeping her so close and yet not being able to love her back, but Violet was the only one she trusted, the only one who could possibly understand her pain, and so selfishly she had done it anyway.
How cruel a fate she had granted the girl whom she truly owed everything too.
Now she could only pay her back by making her sacrifice matter.
She had to make Trixie remember, had to make sure that it was in this timeline that their love would bloom.
Only then would Violet's efforts be worth the cost.
"Thank you, Violet." Katya whispered. "I won't let this gift go to waste. You sacrificed so much for us, I promise I'll make sure it was worth it."
Chapter 11: The Memory of Us
Chapter Text
Katya didn't quite know how to act around Trixie after the revelation of her past. After all, how do you act once you’ve learned that the woman you’re dating and currently working for is the love of your life whom you lost 2500 years ago? It was awkward between them, but Katya couldn’t exactly explain to Trixie why that was, so she had instead poured her energy into the mural she was creating for Trixie’s office. Trixie was growing increasingly curious about the piece, but Katya would not explain anything surrounding it until it was finished, mostly because she was foolishly hoping seeing the finished mural would make Trixie remember them. Who they truly are, or well, who they were.
The painting was perhaps the most beautiful piece she had ever painted. A young couple in Saireovian wedding gowns kissing sweetly, a thin delicate frame of roses surrounding them and intertwining with their long blonde locks. Warmth and love radiated from every brush stroke, admiration and longing shining clearly through every detail. It wasn’t a memory, more of a dream of what might had been had the world been kinder. She could have painted their tragedy, she had even considered it, but she didn’t wish for Trixie to awake with pain. She wished for her to remember the purity of their love, not the unbearable heartache.
She never wanted Trixie to live as she had.
To remember as she had.
To long for someone as she had.
“Not a day goes by... Not one day without her name echoing in my heart. Not a single day... She will never disappear, not until I die. Somehow she is ever-present and yet always absent, and so I will die again and again until the day I can come join her in heaven.” Katya said as she knelt before her lover’s grave. “My darling angel, you are still somehow with me and I will remain faithful to you in life and death. I will love you always, Trixie.”
Even now, she was the one carrying Trixie in her heart, longing for her to be returned to her side fully, knowing fully well there was a chance she never would be. After all, who was to say she wouldn’t have to live like this forever? Who was to say Trixie would eventually remember?
Still, despite all the time that has gone by, whilst everything else had changed the two of them had stayed constant, and that had to mean something. They were like two old friends who simply couldn’t recognize each other at first glance. No, this was more, for whilst other acquaintances might pass through the constant revolving door of friends, theirs was a bond that was written in the stars from the very beginning. This was destiny. This was the Gods of the heavens finally bringing them the future which was stolen from them. It had to be, Katya thought as she painted the final details.
“Can I come in?” Trixie asked whilst knocking on the office door, as if it wasn’t her office Katya was occupying.
”Yeah, you can come in.” Katya said after drawing a deep breath. “Alright, here goes nothing.. You can come in.”
“Oh Katya, it is beautiful!” Trixie said as she opened the door and took in the view of the stunning mural.
“Do you notice anything about it?” The painted asked in a hopeful tone.
“Well.. it is very romantic... and it looks a bit like... us?”
“Yes! Yes, exactly!” Katya said, trying to prompt the girl to continue.
”So, you wish to tell me that you’re into me despite things having been awkward lately?”
”What? No, well, yes I am, but I wouldn’t have painted us getting married if I was just trying to say I was into you, that’d be like... creepy.” Katya replied.
“I don’t think it’s creepy, maybe a bit much, but it’s a stunning painting, truly.” Trixie told her.
“Trixie, don’t you see? This is... us. The real us.” Katya tried to explain.
“Yeah, it’s us as a married couple?”
”No, it’s us, back then. Don’t you remember?”
“Back when?” Trixie asked, looking increasingly confused by the second.
“Back when we lived in Saireov... I was a Princess, and you were a maid, and we loved each other until death pulled us apart. Please, you must remember... We are destined to be together.” Katya told her, taking the girl’s hands in her own.
“What are you talking about? Katya, you’re freaking me out. If this is some kind of joke, it’s not funny.” Trixie said, pulling her hands away.
“It’s no joke! We were ready to run away from the palace, but we were discovered and you died for our love. But before you passed away we made a promise. We swore that one day we would be reborn and in that in the next life God would let us be together as we should have been in our first life. We promised to choose each other in that lifetime and the next, and every lifetime that comes after. My promise stands, Trixie. I will always choose you. I love you, always have and always will. It’s you, it has always been you. Please... please remember.... I need you to remember us, my darling Trixie.... my angel.”
“I... I....” Trixie started.
”Yes?” Katya asked hopefully.
“I... I need you to leave.” Trixie said in a near whisper, a tear rolling down her cheek.
“What?”
“I need you to leave the premises. You are not welcome here any longer and I will have security kick you out if you do not go willingly.” Trixie’s voice was stronger now, colder, as if she had rid herself of all care and vulnerability.
“Trixie... Trixie, please-”
“Leave. Now.”
“Alright... I will leave. But know that every word I have spoken is true, and my love for you even more so. I hope one day you will come to realize it.” Katya spoke softly as she finally obeyed Trixie’s command.
“Why God? Why did you bring her into my life again and make me remember her, only for her not to remember me? Why have you choosen to punish me once again?” Katya whispered to herself. “I can’t make her remember, and yet, I cannot forsake her... I cannot give up on loving her... Why was this the fate you choose for me? Why must I suffer this fate once again? Why couldn’t you just let me forget?”
