“Ahem.”
Wind froze, half out of the window. He slowly turned to the door of the inn room, making eye contact.
Warriors had taken off his outer layers, leaving him in just his undershirt and trousers, but that didn’t make him any less imposing. He stood in the doorframe, arms crossed and disapproval splayed on his face - the look that said I’m not angry, just disappointed and usually was followed by a lecture.
From where Wind was sitting, one leg out of the window and one leg inside the door, clearly in the process of sneaking out, he made a horrible decision in the middle of his fight or flight.
“… Meow.”
Immediately, Warriors’ face changed from one of disappointment to one of pure horror. Wind’s face probably mirrored him as it set in what he had done.
“What the fuck?” The captain muttered, just loud enough for Wind to hear, and the sailor took that as his cue.
He turned and jumped the rest of the way out of the window, slipping into the forest, hearing the sound of Warriors’ repeated “What the fuck!” behind him.
Sneaking out was not worth it.
Somehow this was less embarrassing than calling him mom, though.
