My Cats Are My Life, Leave Me Alone *Hugs Five of Them*

Summary:

From a young child, Grian had some weird connections with the world's ghost company, Phasmophobia Co. He always found a love for learning and saving up for the equipment.

On his 8th birthday, he was gifted a high tech spirit box, quickly falling in love. Going around in the forest with that thing, trying to talk to any ghosts, never getting a response but that never brought him down.

But one day, out in the forest, he stumbled upon three unique cats, each one special in a familiar way. But he gained more and more, each of them from the forest. A strong, unbreakable connection that many hated, including his parents.

On his 18th birthday, he was forced to make a decision on that day from his parents. Either he gets rid of his cats and stays home, or leave.

For anything in the world vs. his cats, his cats will always be his choice. So he left and never heard a word from his parents.

Notes:

A new story, yayy!
This is my newest favourite concept, Phasmophobia but cats!
Before starting this, I am drawing the cats to post on Twitter & Tumbler (I don't know how to add pictures in here). But I would love to see what everyone thinks the cats look like. I also don't know how to fully add in links, so bare with me.
Story is slightly beta read, really because my friend wanted to make a Google Sheet of the cats.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: A New Life Is Started! Cats! Calm Down! ~~~

Chapter Text

“Cats! Calm down!” I shout, chasing after one of my cats.

They were all spread around my house. Phasing through walls and climbing up walls. Meows and music from my most vocal cat.

“Music, shut up!” I scream.

The brown and light tan cat with a white tag tied to a string around her ear. She looks over me, meowing even more. The second I walk over to Music Box, she bolts. I growl, eyes flicking colours. My shyest cat, a ghostly grey with black around to hide in the shadows, Shade, crawled up to me. I look at her, crouching down.

“Thank you Shade,” I huff, picking her up.

She meows, very high pitched tone. I sit down on the ground, rocking Shade. I groan, kissing her head. Shade paws at my face, soft paw tapping my cheek. I giggle, eyes flicking to another colour.

“Thank you Shady,” I grumble.

I feel her purr in my grip.

~~~
“Who’s coming with me?” I call into the house.
Multiple cats run over, meowing with joy.
“Calm down,” I beg.
Meows, more meows, and even more. I bow my hands down, trying to shush them all.
“Buddies, please calm down. I can only take one of you darlings,” I admit.
Upset meows now. I look over the group, knowing what cats are easier to take and which are not.
“Demon, you can come with me. But I'll need to bring a cruci,” I announced.
Demon meows, climbing up on my pant legs. I grab him, grab the crucifix by the door, and head off, keeping the other cats back with a struggle. Demon, laid on my shoulders, misses and growls at people around before I lift up the cruci. He shushes up.
“Demon, behave,” I command as I walk into a local shop.
He murs, claws digging into my shoulder, ready to jump. I sigh but let him.
“Stay close,” I murmur.
I think about the old house I live in, thirty-eight cats with me, all the world's types of ghosts, cursed possessions, and main items to hunt ghosts. All like their names.
Demon, chaotic cat with red horns by his ears. He loved to hunt around, chasing mice and birds. Though he hated the crucifix.
I snap out of my thoughts from a yowl, one from my own cat. Demon was yowling at some random person.
“Demon,” I scold, running over.
I lift Demon up, keeping him to my chest.
“I’m so sorry for him,” I apologise.
“Your cat is a full on demon! You shouldn’t bring him here!” She yells at me.
“What is happening here?” A worker asks.
“His cat attacked me!” The lady yells.
“Demon didn’t hurt you, just yowled,” I replied.
“Sir, please leave,” The worker demands.
I nod, setting down the basket and quickly leaving. Demon mews, able to know what I am feeling. I huff, eyes flicking to be an angry red.
Murrf, ” He meows, ears pointed back.
I ignore the cat.
~~~

I try pushing the cats to bed, scolding each one as they mess around. Picking each one up and moving them around into the cat beds, which many of them were dog beds.

A knock gets my attention.

“Stay you little bastards,” I growl to the cats, walking over to the front foot.

I open up the door, seeing one of the town leaders.

“Yes?” I ask.

“Grian Hammerson, the mayor of the town, Mr. Jikson, has decided that you are forced to leave the town due to those furry creatures in your house,” He says.

“I’m sorry, what?” I rage.

“Your cats have been too chaotic, disrupting the town’s peace. You have three days to move out.” I get informed.

I watch him walk away, filled with anger. I slam the door shut.

“Cats! I hate you all!” I shout, heading to bed.

~~~
I put the last box into the cart of a random horse. I brush my hand over his head, walking back inside my house. I have multiple carriers around. Cats meowing from each one.
“Shut up, basterds,” I groan.
I picked up two carriers, five left. I carry them to the cart, putting them in the front of the cart to be safe. I continue to carry the carriers, making sure all cats are secure.
“Ready?” I ask them, lifting me onto the horse.
Meows of replies.
~~~

Next town over, also known as the “Town of the Haunted”. Many ghost hunters lived there, which hopefully ment my cats could be fine.

“Here we are bastards, where we are gonna live for now. I already found a place I can stay, which has two other people and a cat,” I grumble.

“Hey!” Someone shouts.

I perk up, looking to the shout. A guy with a bright smile, mossy jacket with his hood up.

“Hello, welcome to Herpire! I’m Bdubs. Who are you?” The mossy guy asks.

“I’m Grian,” I reply.

“Ohh, Grian. Scar kept talking about how you are his new roommate,” Bdubs rants, petting the horse.

I jump down, causing the cats to wake.

“Yep, sure am,” I agree.

“Well, welcome. How did you end up here?” Bdubs asks.

“Other town kicked me out after something,” I grumble.

“Sounds rude,” Bdubs huffs.

I nod, groaning as my most social cat, EMF Five, meows.

“What was that?” Bdubs asks.

“Sorry,” I whine, walking over to the cage he was in.

EMF Five was joined with Mimic, secretly my favourite cat Voo, UV, Yurei, Shade, and Twin One. I keep the others back as I pull EMF out.

“Aww, who’s that little baby?” Bdubs awes.

“EMF Five, one of my many cats,” I reply.

“He’s adorable,” Bdubs says, letting him sniff his hand.

“But one of the many reasons I got kicked out,” I grumble.

“So, what’s about them?” Bdubs asks.

“Cats of the ghosts, cursed possessions, and evidence of the world,” I tell him.

“Oh my goodness! That’s so cool!” Bdubs shouts.

My eyes flick to another colour, shocked.

“Wha-what?” I mutter, shocked.

“What? Did I say something wrong?” I ask.

“No, no. Just, everyone I've met so far hated them,” I grumble.

“That’s rude,” Bdubs pouts.

I smile. “I have to agree with that.”

“Well, come on. I can take the cart to Scar’s while you get something to eat. Lizzie owns a cafe, which is amazing! Your cats can come along also,” Bdubs rants.

I nod, setting EMF on the stone road. I grab two carriers, setting them on the ground to let the cats out.

“Can I help?” Bdubs asks.

“Yeah, just be careful,” I reply.

The cats quickly look around, making me lose them all.

“Uhh,” Bdubs mutters.

“Stay close you little bastards!” I shout to the cats.

“That’s normal?” Bdubs asks.

“Yeah. I think they are happy to be somewhere new,” I reply.

“Here, I’ll show you the cafe before taking all this to where you are staying,” Bdubs says with a smile.

I follow Bdubs around to a pretty spruce building. Goryo and Ghost Writing, or Scribbles, were following me.

Bdubs opens the door while yelling, “Lizzie! Brought our new town’s members!”

“Members? I thought Scar was getting one roommate.” A pink haired girl walks over.

“Hello,” I grumble.

“Oh hi, I’m Lizzie,” Lizzie introduces.

“I’m Grian, these little two are Goryo and Ghost Writing,” I reply.

“Aww, adorable kitties,” She awes.

Lizzie crouches, petting her hand out for my cats. Goryo quickly backs up into my leg as Scribbles walks over.

“Scribbles is very social,”I say.

“Wasn’t her name Ghost Writing?” Bdubs asks.

“Oh, Scribbles is her nickname,” I chuckle.

“Adorable,” Lizzie squeals.

I got shown to a booth after a quick bye to Bdubs. Goryo stayed by my side, trying to hide. Scribbles walks around, getting to know this place.

The door opened as I looked over a menu.

“Why are there so many cats outside?” The person asks.

He had brown hair with a green bundle. Revenant clang to his leather jacket.

“Rev!” I shout, getting my cat’s attention.

The guy looks over as Rev drops to the floor, bolting over to me.

“Oh, hello,” He grumbles.

“Oh, Joel, this is Grian. He’s living here now,” Lizzie says, walking around the corner.

“Hi. Sorry about Revenant. He’s very feisty,” I apologise.

“So, those are all you cats?” Joel asks.

“Yep, cats of the ghosts, cursed possessions, and evidence,” I agree.

“Wow, that’s a ton,” Joel grumbles.

“Yeah, but I love them so much.” I look to Goryo.

Joel takes a seat across from me as I order. I asked for anything but chocolate.

“So, how’d you get all those rascals?” Joel asks.

“Well, it’s a long story,” I reply.

“I have time,” Joel mutters, leaning his elbows onto the table.

“Well, I first found three kittens. Spirit, Poltergeist slash Polti, and Mare. The three I found while wandering the woods. Polti wanted to play catch and that’s how she found me. She brought Spirit and Mare to me. They followed me home. My parents thought they were fine in the beginning.

“Then I brought five more home. Jinn, Yokai, Thaye, Banshee, and Goryo. I felt connected to them. But my parents were getting more angry.

“I continued getting more and more cats, by the time I was 18, 21 cats were found. My parents gave me a choice. Get rid of the cats or leave. I chose the ladder.

“Over time, I found more and more cats. House growing larger and larger, getting more chaotic. No matter how much, I loved them so much. My life, my family. I won’t ever leave them.”

Goryo meows, bumping his head into my side. I giggle, lifting him to my lap. Rev pawed at Joel’s glasses, almost knocking them off the table but I quickly caught them.

“Here ya go.” I hand them to him.

“Oh, thanks,” Joel mutters, grabbing his sunglasses.

Rev mrowed, glaring. Scribbles trots over, meowing at us. Joel is able to pick her up.

“Scribbles is one of my more friendly cats. Rev is very crazy and pesky. And Goryo is one of my shy cats, which I surprisingly have many of,” I inform the two.

Lizzie nods, setting a plate in front of me. Bacon strips with fluffy looking pancakes. A small slab of butter. A small container of syrup. I grab the syrup and pour it over. Lizzie leaves and quickly comes back with a cute pastel pink cup filled with tea.

“Thanks,” I mutter, digging in.

“You are welcome.” Lizzie smiles walking off again.

I watch her set little bowls of whip cream for the cats. Scribbles bounds over, lapping up a bowl. Rev quickly followed her. Goryo looked up to me, unsure. I nod to the little baby. Goryo slowly walks over, ears pointed back. I continue eating, humming in delight. It was so fluffy, butter nicely melted and syrup soaking in.

I hung out with the two for a while. Goryo slowly getting used to my new friends.

“Hey G, I’ve noticed your eyes change colours from time to time. What is that all about?” Joel asks.

“Oh, I have some weird hybrid trait that makes my eyes change colour. Not sure what species does that though,” I tell the two of them.

“Hey, you should take a look at Joe’s library. He probably has a book somewhere about that,” Lizzie glees.

“Got it,” I agree.

Scribbles dashes to the door, meowing loudly. Rev chased his sister, meowing along. Lizzie pushed herself up from where she sat. The door pushes open, the arrival person getting attacked by the cats.

“Jeez, how many cats are here!” They shout.

Two more cats run in, being Twin 1 and Twin 2. Both being complete opposites, they were twins, more specifically, the ghost Twins.

“Lots,” I chuckle.

Twin 1 perks up, looking at me. She runs over, tail stuck up. I grab under her stomach and pick her up. Twin 2 shyly follows her sister.

“Oh, hello,” The arrival mutters.

Green shirt, brown leather vest thing, and a green robotic eye. It was like a little square screen on his face.

“Sorry about the cats. All mine. I’m Grian,” I announce.

“Well, nice to meet you. I’m Iskall," he introduces.

Rev attacks Iskall.

“Revenant!” I shout, jumping up.

Iskall grabs his scruff, holding him up in front of him.

“So you're a pesky one,” Iskall chuckles.

“That’s Rev, one of my feisty cats,” I inform.

“Walked in and he was clung to my back,” Joel grumbles.

I shift Twin 1 to the floor, walking over to take Rev from Iskall. Iskall quickly hands him to me, letting me hold him like a little baby.

“You are a pesky one alright,” I chuckle.

Rev meows innocently. Lizzie laughs.

“So who are these other ones?” Iskal asks.

“Goryo is my shy one, over on the booth. Ghost Writing, or Scribbles, was first to run over to you. Those two are Twin 1 and Twin 2. And before you ask, yes they are the Phasmophobia Co. named ghosts,” I list.

“Are they like the ghosts, evidence, and cursed positions?” Iskall asks.

“Yep, Onryo hates fire, Mimic mimics his siblings,” I agree.

“Impresing,” He mutters.

I nod.

~~~
I follow Bdubs to Scar and Mumbo’s. A hoard of cats follows me.
“So, just to let you know, Scar isn’t able to use his legs all the time. Mumbo is a Redstone Blood. Jellie is the cat who lives in that house.” He lists.
“Got it,” I hum.
After a while, there was a big looking cabin like house. It looked really nice. I was looking at the garden.
“And here we are,” Bdubs announces.
“This place looks cool,” I mutter.
Bdubs trots to the door, knocking.
“Scar! Mumbo!” He shouts.
I pick up Voo and walk over. The door quickly opens. A tall brunette with green eyes. Scars crossed his face and he had long ears.
“Oh welcome Grian! Nice to meet you and the cats. I’m Scar,” He joyfully says.
“Hi,” I mutter.
Cats ran over, meowing. The shy ones stayed by my side. Rev meowed, trying to climb onto him. Spirit dashes past to look around the house. Wraith hissed, tail fluffed up. Phantom tried to join Rev. Polti somehow found a random fork and threw it. Banshee and Music meowed at them, Myling quickly joining in. Jinn walked around the front of the house. Mare tried hiding in the nearest shadows. Demon hissed from where he was by my feet. I watched Oni stalk Scar. Yokai watched him carefully, ears to her head. Twin 1 ran to him. Raiju flopped by his feet. Obake shifted for a second to look more creepy. Mimic copied Banshee’s scream. Circle hissed, body catching a flame, which Onryo hissed at him. Ouija stood his ground. Tarot hissed angrily. Orbs flouted up to him.
“Sorry about them,” I whimper.
“Oh it’s fine. I am one of the people who go ghost hunting, so these little babies are fine,” Scar chuckles.
Scar simply picks up Rev. He coos at the aggressive cat. My eyes widened, amazed. I wasn’t used to people so fine with my cats. I was usually hated from them. Voo mewed from where he was in my arms. Bdubs pats my shoulder, saying a quick goodbye. Scar smiles to me.
“Well good sir, come on in,” He joyfully says.
I walk over, letting Voo climb onto my shoulder. We walk inside, looking around. The cats were already looking around, which they did everytime we got a new place. Scribbles was meeting a light grey and white cat.
“That’s Jellie, she’s my cat,” Scar informs.
“She’s adorable,” I grumble.
Scar walks over and picks up Jellie.
“So, who are all these little ones?” Scar asks.
“That’s a long list, but I can write it down with a small description of each,” I reply.
“That sounds nice. You can put it on the fridge when done,” Scar agrees.
I nod.
“Well, how about a tour of the house?” He asks.
“Sure,” I mutter.
Scar shows me around the house. Basement was where Mumbo’s bedroom was. The main floor had Scar’s. So my bedroom was upstairs.
Chapter Text
Meows and small paws walking all over my body. I groan.
“Off of me you crazies,” I huff, yawning.
I open my eyes to see a slightly glowing UV. I gently push her off, pushing myself up. Twin 1 was looking at me with her grey eyes. Mimic, Orbs, and Paw joined her and UV.
“Jeez, I’m up, I’m up. Y’all will get fed soon,” I grumble, getting out of bed.
Voo dashes over, climbing up my legs to my shoulders. I pat his head. I picked out some clothes for the day. A random printed tee, red hoodie specialised for a cat to sit in the hood. Bleach printed jeans, and a random short pair of socks and boxers.
“I’m gonna change, then feed y’all,” I call out.
Voo jumps onto a cat tree, making Oni screech. I giggle while exiting to my bathroom. I quickly close the door before any cat can enter. I strip from my night clothes. I toss them into a corner behind the door. I quickly got into my outfit for the day. I don’t need my crazies waiting even longer. Claws scratch at the door, meowing blocked by the door. I roll my eyes with a soft chuckle.
Walking out, grabbing the bag of cat food I made. Crouching near the bowls, filling them up. Cats run the bowls, eating up. I close up the bag and hide it away before heading down, grabbing the list first, keeping my door open.
“Morning Grian.” A voice says as I enter the kitchen.
Scar was smiling at me, making something as Jellie sat on the counter.
“Mornin’,” I mutter.
“So Grian, would you like to meet my friends at GIGS?” Scar asks.
“Uhh, sure,” I agree.
In no time, many cats were running down.
“Awww, morning sweet kitties,” Scar awes.
I watch as Jellie leaps off the counter, happily meeting up with the cats.
“Do they need to be fed?” Scar asks me.
“Nope, already gave them food. If I didn’t, I might as well be dead,” I laugh, lifting up Voo.
Scar chuckles, smiling at me.
“Jeez, didn’t know I would walk up to being attacked by cats.” The familiar voice of Mumbo.
“Morning,” I reply.
“Mumbo! Look at these sweet babies!” Scar shouts.
“Sweet babies who are crazy,” Mumbo giggles.
As he walked over, Demon was attached to his back. I scoop him up, holding him under one arm. Voo meows.
“Well, morning,” I say.
I set both down, taking the paper out of my pocket. I grab a unused magnet and stuck it onto the fridge.
“There’s a list here,” I tell the two.
“Thanks.” Scar smiles.
I walk over to the table, where Mumbo was sitting, working on something with a device I’ve never seen. I take a seat, letting Voo sit on my lap. I brush my hand through his fur. Scar walks over, setting down some empty plates. Mumbo passes them around as cutlery and food. I watch as Jinn tries to climb up to steal some food.
“Hi cutie, trying to steal some food?” Scar asks with a smile.
Mreewp ,” Jinn begs.
“Can she?” Scar looks at me with pleading eyes.
“If you want her to not leave you alone,” I chuckle.
Scar smiles and grabs a small piece of egg from his plate and hands it to Jinn. She meows happily, snatching it from Scar’s hand. I look over the two. Mumbo smiled, fondly shaking his head. Scar laughed.
“From now on, I’ll make a note to make eggs for you guys,” Scar says with a smile.
“You’re gonna not be able to escape,” I joke (halfly) with a fun evil tone.
“Oh Scar, I’m gonna lose you,” Mumbo laughs, going along with the bit.
“Aww, gonna be kidnapped by cats for food. So sad,” Scar jokes.
I laugh, smiling widely.
“Jinn, are you being spoiled?” I ask with a smile.
She looks over to me, an innocent look in her eyes. I roll my eyes with a giggle. Scar lifts her up to his lap, hand running over her black and grey fur.
“She sure is,” Mumbo agrees.
“Well Mumbo, look at this little one. Her cute little face,” Scar huffs.
Jinn murs.
~~~

“Hey Grian, wanna come with me to where I work? I feel like the cats would enjoy it,” Scar asks, leaning in the doorway to my room.

“Uhh, sure. But first let me get their collars on. If they want to explore, people will need to know their names,” I reply.

Hantu meows. Scar hums. I look around for the box holding each one's collars.

“Can I help?” Scar asks.

“Yeah, it’ll be hard since you just met them,” I agree.

Scar quickly takes a seat next to me, looking into the box with a range of different coloured collars. I hand him a pale blue collar. Scar looks over it, seeing the name.

“Banshee,” Scar mutters.

My see through cat perks up, looking over. Her paleish blue eyes glowing. I chuckle as Scar looks around. Banshee huffs out a sigh before leaping off where her spot was on one of the many cat trees. Scar looks at her.

“Collar matches her eyes,” I inform.

Scar nods, slipping the collar around her neck. Banshee looks over Scar, meowing in a singing tone.

When Scar finished he looked to me. “Who next?”

I grab a random collar, one that felt cut up. I pick it up to see the bold red collar.

“Here ya go.” I hand it to him. “Gonna be more difficult then Banshee.”

Scar looks at the tag, eyes slightly widening. It was Demon’s collar.

“He can be a bastard but it’ll be fine with me here,” I reassured him.

Banshee crawls into my lap, looking up at me. I run my hand through her smooth, fluffy fur.

“Demon,” Scar mutters.

I look to where he was laid. Pressed up to the heater with Jinn by his side. One red eye opened, looking in our direction.

“Demon,” I call out.

He hisses, going back to rest. Jinn, who was awake, looks to her brother.

“Demon, come here,” Scar pleads.

Nothing.

“Demon you little bastard I love,” I scold.

Jinn looks at us then back to Demon, smacking him in the face. Demon mrows, jumping up, looking to her annoyed. Jinn’s tail flicks. He sat down, huffing. I sigh, standing up.

“Sometimes, you have to go to them,” I tell Scar.

I pick up Demon, holding the squirming cat close. I nod to Scar, who follows my movement and puts the collar on him. When done, I let him leap out of my arms.

“See, be a good cat,” I chuckle.

I grab another collar, this one being an olive colour. I handed it to Scar.

“This one depends on his mood,” I inform.

Scar looks over the name.

“Thaye? Ghost that ages over time?” Scar asks, confused.

“Yep, he can change age. It always rewinds depending on mood,” I inform.

Scar nods, looking around the room. There was Thaye, draped upon Mirror’s back. He was in the youngest state, all black and fluffy.

“Thaye, good boy, please come here,” Scar sing-songs.

Thaye perks up, ears pointing back. Mirror shifts under him, her tail flicking unhappily. Scar looks around the entire room.

“Next time, I would recommend you look over the chart. It helps a lot,” I say with a smirk.

Scar nods, looking devoted.

“Thaye,” Scar calls.

Thaye shift a bit, looking over. His fur shifted slightly, growing a bit more rusty.

“There you are,” Scar awes, walking over.

“Learning,” I chuckle.

I grab another two collars as Thaye is finished. Myling’s deep purple and Moroi’s pink.

“You take this one, I got Moroi.” I handed him the purple one.

Scar takes it. “Myling, huh.”

I giggled to myself, walking over to where Moroi was, watching out the window. I look over to see Scar looking around, Myling behind him.

“Myling,” Scar calls.

Mreep , ” Myling replies, causing Scar to jump.

“Jeez, you scared me,” Scar laughs, crouching next to My.

I walk over and grab two more collars. A hasty grey and kings yellow.

“Here, neither of these two are good for you but I trust you with him,” I mutter, the yellow one soon being in his hands.

I had Polti, the one who will throw everything she can.

“Mimic!” He shouts.

“Good luck my dude,” I laugh.

My eye catches on a hazy white and black cat. Fur stood up as she rustled around with Twin 1. I slowly walk over, trying to keep secret. Polti spins around, spotting me. I smirk, ready for a challenge. Voo crouches and jumps down atop her. I dash over, sliding the collar on, dodging a notebook and some pens.

“Mimic, get back here!” I hear Scar shout.

I look around, watching Mimic doing any way to get away.

“Mimicker, get over here,” I call out.

Mimic bolts over, climbing into my arms. I tighten my grasp, standing up. Scar is able to get his collar on.

“How?” He asks, panting.

“Well, Mimic has strong trust in me,” I reply.

“How many more cats?” Scar complains.

“32, takes a while,” I laugh.

Scar’s face falls. I laugh even harder, letting Mimic go. I quickly grab two more collars.

“Wait, I’m gonna get Mumbo,” Scar sighs, quickly heading off.

I nod, grabbing another collar. A very bright yellow, but darker than a highlighter, a frozen blue, and a light grey.

“Well, what do you two need help with?” Mumbo asks, walking over.

“Getting collars on these ones,” I reply.

Scar walks over, hands out. I hand him the yellow one.

“Raiju.”

I toss the blue one to Mumbo.

“Hantu, the one who enjoys the cold.”

“Well, I didn’t give either of you Shade, be lucky,” I laugh.

Mumbo looks around, Scar coping. Hantu was in my small fridge, curling up close to himself. Raiju was lying on my laptop, sparks around him. And Shade, she was hidden under my bed. Mumbo seems to spot Hantu quickly, knowing he likes the cold. I crawl over to Shade.

“Where’s Raiju?” Scar asks.

“What are they like?” I ask.

It seems to hit Scar, having spotted him. Soon, the three were done. Three more collars were picked. White, which is Wraith’s, a pale green, Phantom’s, and a bright green, D.O.T.S.

It went much quicker with help, going down the list of each collar picked.

“Finally,” Scar whines.

I giggle, “Well, you agreed to help.”

“We did,” Mumbo sighs.

“Well, time to go.” Scar drags me off.

Cats followed, chasing after me. Voo leaps up to lay on my shoulders. A quick bye to Mumbo as we head off, cats scurrying off or staying by my side.

“So I work with mainly three others, but sometimes, two others will show up. I think it’s a fun job, ghost hunting!” Scar joyfully informs.

“Sounds fun,” I agree.

In no time, we arrived to cool looking building, almost like an old modern vampire lair.

“What is this building, a vampire lair?” I joke.

Scar bursts out into laughter, so we share a laugh.

“That was the best thing this place has been called,” He laughs.

I watch as Deo claws at the door. Scar walks over, opening the door. I walk in, cats around my legs, sometimes crawling through my legs. Scar follows.

“Welcome to GIGS,” Scar announces.

“GIGS?” I question.

“Gemini, Impulse, GoodTimesWithScar, me, and Skizz,” Scar ehjyuuyhyuuhujujjjuj.;linforms.

I nod. “This is GIGS office. Nice to know.”

A scream breaks through the air.

“Imp?” Scar asks.

I notice why. Rev was climbing up the wall, claws making small dots in the wall.

“Rev! Stop climbing on walls!” I shout.

Rev looks over at me, eyes glistening with chaos. A voice of laughter echoes.

“Did a cat really scare you?” A new person asks.

“Shut up Skizz,” The other person huffs.

I sigh, looking at Scar, who was also laughing. Voo meows at Rev.

“Rev, get down now, you know you are not allowed to climb walls besides in my room,” I scolded.

Rev mrows, dropping down and landing on his paws. I nod. The two people walk over, one having scars lining his arms but a bold smile and the other was slightly taller, eyes bright and still laughing.

“Sorry about him,” I apologise.

“It’s fine. I’m Skizz, and this one who got jump scared is Impulse,” Skizz informs.

I nod, looking around. Cats were all over, meowing and purring. Voo was still around my shoulders.

“So, you are the owner of these cats. Saw them yesterday and was so confused,” Impulse chuckles.

“Yep, my crazies of spaz. That one is Rev and here is Voo. I do not need to go down the list but they do have collars,” I tell the two.

Skizz nods, looking around at all the cats. At least seven cats were in here, including Voo and Rev. Impulse immediately spotted EMF, who’s eyes were glowing a dark green.

“Who are you little one?” He asks with a smile.

He checks over EMF’s multicoloured collar. He looks over Impulse.

“EMF, you little buddy is cute,” He laughs.

“So, what about the cats?” A new voice enters.

“Well, these cats are basically the ghosts, cursed objects, and evidence but as cats, and truly recarnaded.” I look around.

“Hi, I’m Gem.” She had bright orange hair and deer antlers decorated with flowers.

“Nice to meet you all. I’m Grian,” I say with a smile.

Skizz walks over, draping an arm around my shoulder, being careful of Voo.

“Well my dude, it seems like a lot of new fun,” Skizz chuckles.

I smile before another, now familiar, scream. We all look over. EMF’s eyes were now red, due to Oni being by his side.

“EMF, able to change his eyes around people. Such as around Oni, someone who has EMF 5 as an evidence piece,” I enlighten.

Awes fill the room. I look around, searching for the other three.

“We’re seven cats in here?” I ask.

Scar looks at me, nodding.

“Why?” Gem asks.

“I can’t find them,” I mutter.

I look in my bag, pulling out a black light. I knew Onryo came with us, so this would help.

“Names?” Impulse asks.

“Well, I know Onryo joined, the other two I know are evidence cats,” I grumble, turning on the UV.

I shine it around, looking for glowing paws. But in a sudden, UV dashes over, chasing the light. Her fur was glowing.

“Ahh yes, UV joined along,” Scar laughs.

“So UV, Onryo, Oni, EMF, Voo, and Rev,” Skizz lists.

That’s when I spot the seventh.

“Don’t forget Ghost Writing, or as I love to call her, Scribbles,” I laugh, pointing to where she laid.

On a shelf, being like a journal.

“Oh jeez!” Scar jumps.

“Scribbles, ohh, that’s adorable,” Gem awes.

She jumps down, trotting happily to Gem. Voo meows, nibbling my ear.

“Well, now that the distractions are over -Heavily denied- lets show you around,” Impulse offers, but I cut him off in the middle.

~~~
The entire tour was messed up by cats. Wraith somehow appeared randomly, wait, I know how. But I did see the place, it was definitely a vampire lair.
“Imp, Gemstone, Scar, come here,” Skizz mutters, dragging them away.
I watch them leave the room before looking to Voo. “Well VooDoo, you think this is a good home?”
Voo meows, jumping up my arm. I pat his head, moving a pin slightly. I watch as Oni plays with Scribbles and EMF. Onryo, Rev, and Wraith mess around, bumping into stuff. UV was looking around.
In no time, the others came back in.
“Hey G, I, we’re, wondering if you would like to work here?” Impulse asks.
Notes:
Rev is Banrigh's favourite and she loves how he is.
Voo is mine, the little darling I adore. I got my mom to make him as a stuffed animal!
Chapter Text
Sores in my arm as I mix the batter. Tarot sat by my feet, meowing.
“So, what are you making?” I ask.
“You’ll find out,” Scar laughs.
“Scar, I’m helping you make dinner. Tell me,” I beg.
Scar continues to laugh.
“Good luck Grian, no chance he'll tell you,” Mumbo speaks up from where he was sat.
“I'll force him,” I pout, crossing my arms, licking batter off my fingers.
“I have a feeling you are gonna like it! It'll be delirious!” Scar joyfully says.
“Delicious,” Mumbo corrects.
“Yep!” Scar agrees.
I laugh, smiling as I get back to work. Playful jokes and bullying fills the kitchen, both of us having to shoo the cats away from time to time.
“Jellie! Stop! Are they teaching you bad habits?” Scar scolds.
Jellie “innocently” meows, looking up to me. I shrug.
“Didn't I warn ya that they are chaos?” I laugh.
Scar sighs but nods. We all shared a laugh after that.
~~~

I was draped over the couch, being smothered by cats. I accepted my fate of death with the cats.

“Do you need saving?” Mumbo asks.

“Nomph,” I reply, voice muffled.

An angry meow from Yurei.

“Ih miay nhot ‘e ahle tho breat, hut I’hm fhen,” I mutter.

A small pat on my head. “It’s fine.”

A hiss from a cat, not liking to be disturbed.

“Is this normal?” Mumbo asks.

I raise a thumb, giving a thumbs up to agree. This happens pretty often, I’m surprised I haven’t died yet, these cats suffocate me.

“See you in the morning G,” Scar yawns, walking away.

“Night,” Mumbo calls.

“Mmmhhmmm!” I shout.

~~~
“Grian, hurry up! I’m about to leave!” Scar hollers up.
“One second!” I yell back.
I look in my bag. Journal, tools, treats, coins, pens, everything.
“I feel like I'm missing something,” I mutter to myself.
I feel a small rub against my leg. I look over.
“Oh Voo, I’m missing you. And others who wanna join.”
Voo looks up to me with a shy meow. I pick him up to sit in my hood. I drape my bag across my chest. Meows perk up.
“Any of you can join,” I announce, walking off.
“Grian!” Scar shouts.
I run down, cats paws pounding after me.
“I’m here, I’m here,” I huff.
Scar smiles at me, eyes shining. I smile back. An arm quickly wraps around my shoulder, bringing me into a small hug.
“Stay safe you two, remember, let me know if you head out of town,” Mumbo informs, being the one to hug me.
“We will, we will,” Scar grumbles, tilting his head from side to side.
“Last time you forgot,” Mumbo laughs.
Scar awkwardly looks to the side, pouting. I chuckled.
“Well, get off you two, no need to be late,” Mumbo shoos.
“Got it!” Scar agrees.
I get grabbed and pulled away. Cats quickly follow me. And out the door.
In no time, we were at the GIGS office.
“Welcome to your first day of work, who knows what will happen,” Scar joyfully says.
“Well, let’s get today started,” I reply with a smile.
I push open the door, Raiju, Demon, and Rev running in.
“You other chaos beans, behave!” I called out.
Scar laughs while dragging me in. I look around. Gem was happily talking with Skizz as Raiju sniffed their legs. Impulse was talking with someone I haven’t met yet. Rev was immediately trying to climb up walls and Demon was meowing at him, I think trying to encourage him.
“Welcome you two, cats made you known,” Impulse laughs.
The new person, who is a blaze hybrid, turns around.
“Oh, hello. I’m Tango,” He introduces.
“I’m Grian. This is Voo,” I reply.
“And those?” Tango asks.
“Rev, little crazy one who likes annoying people, Demon, and Raiju,” I chuckle.
Rev, hearing his name, looks over. Demon bolts over, leaping up to the counter.
“What you doing over here Tango?” Scar asks, walking over to lean against the counter.
“Well, I came over here to talk about any recent ghost activity in town I have found,” Tango replies.
None of the cats have felt ghosts around. Oh wait, they are the ghosts.
“Oh,” Scar mutters, seeming to think.
Impulse nods.
“That’s weird,” Gem mutters.
Skizz agrees. Voo looks to me, soft meow as if telling me ‘I don’t feel activity’.
“I think I know why,” I reply.
They all look at me.
“What?” Tango raises an eyebrow.
“Well, my cats are ghosts,” I reply.
Out of the group, only Tango stays confused, as I have told the others before.
“Oh, so the ghosts of the world, one of each ghost as a cat. But same with evidence and cursed objects. So Rev is just like Revenants, Voo is the VooDoo Doll, and everything continues,” I go deeper into informing.
“So…how many cats do you have?” Tango asks, eyes confused.
“38, tons of cats. But I love them all,” I mutter.
“I’m sorry? What!” Gem shouts.
I do quick maths in my head.
“Oh sorry, that’s wrong.” I smile.
Gem sighs. Tango seems to relax. Impulse and Skizz calm down.
“39, I missed one,” I laugh.
Gem gives me a ‘you series’ look. I nod.
“How do you keep track?” Impulse asks, shocked.
“I’ve known them long enough to know each one so closely. I know which one could be watching from the dark without seeing them.” I shrug.
“If you know, who’s standing behind you?” Skizz challenges.
I feel the air for the new arrival. A chilling feeling, but not too cold. Small black and white visions flick in my head of random rooms I’ve been in before.
“Haunted Mirror, or just Mirror. Purple and black fur pooling around like blood in a pool of water,” I answer.
“Uhh, how?” Scar asks. “She didn’t even enter with us!”
I laugh. “Connections I hold.”
Mirror walks over, looking up at me. I lean down and pick her up. Voo baps her nose.
“Welcome to your first day of work. We can show you what we normally do when no calls,” Impulse explains.
“Got it,” I agree, letting Mirror down.
Impulse drags me off to another room. The lounge. Chairs and couches. Everything was pretty chill. Games and a TV with a laptop connected by a cable.
“Imp, you say that as if you do anything when they’re no calls,” Tango laughs.
“Tango! We totally do something! It’s called games,” Impulse prompts.
“Oh right, such hard work,” Tango replies sarcastically.
I giggle.
“I have to agree, we work so hard,” Gem continues, laughing.
My giggles turn into laughter.
“Very important Tangie, very much,” Skizz jokes along.
“Oh right, very important. Saves lives.” Tango struggles to keep a straight face.
Scar leans on me, laughing his head off. I wasn’t helping him though, doubling over.
“Minecraft is very important, and you know that,” Impulse laughs.
I fall down from laughter, causing Scar to fall with me, soft yelp but still laughing.
“I think we killed the two,” Gem glees.
Voo, who sadly joined the fall, meows at me, batting at my face.
“Welp, didn’t save lives today.” Skizz shrugs.
I start to choke on laughter, coughing heavily.
“Don’t die!” Scar shouts, sitting on his haunches.
“Someone order a grave!” Skizz laughs.
“Carve a cat into it,” I mutter while laughing and coughing.
Mirror looks down at me, sitting on my heaving chest. Rev jumps onto me, right onto my legs. I wince in pain. Gem grabs my hand and lifts me up. I push Mirror and Rev off. I watch as Raiju gathers electricity.
“Killing me isn’t nice,” I joke.
Tango leans on me, arm on my shoulder.
“Welp, a stone grave with a cat carved into it. Make sure it is planted somewhere in here,” Tango huffs, smiling at me.
“If people see me, just tell them I’m a ghost,” I continued the bit.
Voo climbs back up to sit in my hair.
“Well, we have to get to work. Imp, get the lap of the tops,” Scar says, picking Rev up.
“I gotta get out of here. Doc needs my help with somethin’,” Tango announces.
“See ya later dude!” Impulse shouts, collecting silver and grey laptops.
“Bye.” Gem waves.
“See ya Tang,” Skizz chuckles.
“Nice to meet you,” I mutter to Tango.
“Bye!” Scar joyfully says.
“Bye you all.” Tango waves and leaves.
Scar drags me over to the couch.
“Do you have a Minecraft account?” Scar asks.
“No,” I reply, voice almost to a whisper.
“Don’t worry, we’ll create you one.” Gem smiles, flopping down next to me.
I nod, taking the deep grey metal laptop Impulse hands me.
“That one can be yours, feel free to style it,” Skizz offers.
“Thanks,” I reply with a smile.
Gem helps me log in and get it set up, getting Minecraft and helping me make an account, which I was able to make my name.
“Here’s our server of GIGS,” Impulse lists, giving me the name.
“Thanks,” I say with a smile.
I join on, seeing a pretty nice spawn point. A small gazebo area with what Gem called a green frog lamp. I was given some armour, tools, and food.
“Feel free to build anywhere that isn’t taken already,” Impulse tells me.
“I will,” I hum.
~~~

We continued playing Minecraft for a while until a phone, one of the old ones that had the swing dial, rang. Impulse quickly stands up.

“Skizz, protect me,” He commands.

I watch him, keeping an eye on the game also. We stay quiet as Impulse gains the call, softly answering. It was a while until he put it down.

“Well?” Scar asks, leaning on the back of the couch.

“A ghost hunting a house. We’ll head off tomorrow to arrive there by the evening. You wanna join us, Grian?” Impulse informs.

“Sure, any idea on it?” I ask.

“Not much but it seems to be aggressive,” Impulse replies.

“Well, get the cart van thing ready. Someone get one of Bdubs’ horses,” Gem lists.

“I’ll get a horse!” Scar happily shouts.

“Me and Imp can get the cart,” Skizz offers.

“I’ll gather up the items and some cats to be ready,” I say.

“I’ll make meals,” Gem mutters.

“Got it.” Impulse walks back over.

“Back to Minecraft?” Scar mumbles.

“Yes,” I agree.

~~~
“I’m hungry,” Scar complains with Skizz.
“We can go to Lizzie’s for lunch. Have you met her G?” Gem asks.
“Yeah, when I first got here,” I reply.
“Perfect, let’s head off.” Skizz stands up, ready for lunch.
I pick up Voo and Rev. Making sure they have their collars, a red with black specks around for Rev and a mix of hot pink and black for Voo. Tucking Voo in my hood and holding Rev tight.
“Raiju, Mirror, Demon, come on you littles,” I called off.
Mirror trots over. Her purple blended hazy purple collar was still on.
“Demon, Rai,” I scolded.
The two slowly walk over before we head off to the cafe.
It wasn’t a long walk, down the road, past five buildings and we arrived. When Skizz opens the door, the three cats I wasn’t holding bounds in.
“Welcome!” Lizzie glees.
“Hey Lizzie,” I say with a bold smile.
“Hello, here for lunch,” Gem says while taking an empty booth.
I take a seat next to her, watching as Scribbles sat atop the work counter.
“I see Scribbles is here,” I mutter.
“Yeah. I think she’s taken a liking to this place,” Lizzie giggles.
Impulse and Skizz take a seat across from us as Scar drags a chair over at the head of the table.
“What do you guys want?” Lizzie asks.
“Regulars,” Gem orders, getting agreements.
“Anything, and don’t forget whip cream for the cats,” I order with a smile.
Lizzie chuckles. “I would have no matter what.”
We talk for a little while, cracking jokes, and me yelling at the cats from time to time. But soon, Joel walks on in, Rev bolting over to him.
“Oh jeez, the crazy one,” Joel grumbles, stepping back.
“Rev’s taking a liking to you. Good luck,” I laugh.
Joel grumbles as Rev climbs up his pant leg. But he doesn’t push the cat away, simply walking over and joining us with another chair. We continue talking about the most random things. Going from ghosts to Minecraft, then to games and to cows, then to Bdubs’ barn, then to horses, to which we went to the forest to houses, then to carnavales, and all the way over to wood. How? No clue.
The door opens to someone I haven’t met. “Jeez, something out there is screaming like a banshee.”
I could barely hear the scream but I knew it.
“Oh, well it’s because it is Banshee,” I laugh.
He looks over to me. Sandy hair covered in a panda hat, bright green eyes and a lute on his back.
“Oh hellow. I’m Oli the bard.” He smirks.
“Orion,” Joel mutters.
“I’m Grian. And that screeching is one of my cats. It’s normal for her,” I inform.
Oli smiles, walking over and joining us, bringing another chair.
“We have larger booths!” Lizzie shouts.
“Oh hey Liz!” Oli replies.
Lizzie walks over, rolling her eyes but smiling.
“Can I get pancakes?” Oli asks.
She nods before walking off again. We change topics to other towns.
“I know many towns. I’ve moved, kicked out, many times. This is the thirteenth time,” I say with a shrug.
It goes silent, besides from Rev chewing Joel’s sunglasses and Banshee’s soft scream. They all look at me.
“What?”
“You’ve moved thirteen times?” Scar shouts.
“Yeah, all because of my 39 cats. But I love ‘em too much.” Another shrug.
“39?” Joel asks.
“Yep, we were shocked too,” Skizz hums.
I chuckle, patting Voo’s head, who was now in my lap. I watched as Scribbles played with Demon and Mirror. Raiju was watching a flickering light with awe.
“I love them so shut it,” I laugh.
As we got our food, Lizzie joined us, sitting on the floor by the table. Now talking about flowers.
~~~

I flop down onto the bed, immediately getting attacked by many cats. I groan, trying to shift. Myling’s chirrup, trying to gain my attention.

“Right, you guys need food,” I mumble into my pillow.

I push the others off before filling the bowls.

Chapter Text

Up and early. Standing up to quickly pack and get dressed.

“So, I’m heading off for a day or two, maybe three. Please be good for Mumbo. I’m sorry you are gonna be wearing your collars but it’s for others.”

An angry meow from Goryo, huffing. Shade complains, meek meows. Monkey grumbled meows from the shelf he was sitting upon. Wraith hissed up at me.

“I get it, I get it. But please, calm down. I will be back. You know I will never leave you forever,” I calmly tell them.

I crouch to the ground, opening my arms. They all bound forth, meowing and purring. I cuddle together, holding each one and giving many pets.

“But at least three of you are coming with me. A ghost hunt for the first time with GIGS,” I announce.

Immediately, tons of meows, all joyed and begging. I chant quite for a little before:

“Quiet!”

All go silent.

“Voo, as my trustworthy cat, you are staying here to keep an eye on the others. You are in charge. Shade, Goryo, Thaye, Dha, stay here you scardies. That means D.O.T.S. and Aon, you two are staying also. Yokai, you stay also. Anycat who drops sanity cannot come with. Rev, Scribbles, you two stay. I know you each found someone here that you feel connected with. Polti, not you, don’t need things being thrown around. Oni, I recommend you stay here to continue meeting people.

“Moroi, I think you can be a big help, so you are coming along. UV, can help too. And Wraith.”

I got a lot of angry growls, some nips, bites, and scratches, which was normal.

“Come on bastards, you know I’ll be back. The longest time I survived without you guys is two days,” I laugh.

I lift my arm up, a very angry Rev hanging from it, teeth bit in my arm. I roll my eyes, grabbing his scruff with my other hand and pulling him off. I check the damage. Deep bite but nothing too bad, definitely not the worst bite I’ve gotten.

“You know I will be back,” I sigh.

~~~
With my bag, the three cats, and many scratches and bites, I arrive at the GIGS building. I push open the door, smiling.
“Grian! Oh jeez what happened?” Gem panicky shouts.
“The cats, not happy leaving for a day or two,” I replied, chillaxed.
“Get over here.” Gem forces.
I walk over, getting dragged into the game area and pushed onto a couch. I watch as she walks off somewhere. Soon, Impulse and Gem come in. A red box in his hand.
“Jeez, the cats are crazy,” Impulse mutters.
“Ehh, I’m used to it,” I admit.
Gem gives me an unhappy look.
“Who did the deep bite?” Impulse asks while cleaning my marks.
“Rev,” I replied calmly.
“Yeahh, seeing how he acts, makes sense.” Gem shrugs.
I hum, quickly wincing in pain as a small spike of pain from the cleaning.
“Sorry,” Impulse mutters.
I nod.
After a while of waiting, everyone arrives, ready for the hunt.
“Bdubs gave me Fran,” Scar says, happily petting the horse.
The oldish cart was almost van-like. Many open spots for equipment. A set up desk with a billiton board behind it with many old papers. And a computer. Wraith walks up the ramp, taking the lead. Moroi and UV quickly join.
“Well, do we need to get any equipment?” Skizz asks.
I walk up, dropping my bag down. Clothes at the bottom, treats, collars for the cats, cat food, snacks, a small turtle plush that Mimic “found”, and all my equipment.
“I have some,” I announce.
“Yeah, get more. And bandages,” Impulse calls out to his friend.
“Do we have everything else in here?” Gem asks, looks around.
“Like what?” I ask.
“Hammachs, enough water supply, food, snacks, clothes,” Gem lists.
I hum, nodding. Soon, another box was brought in.
“Equipment is here,” Skizz sing-songs.
“Everyone ready?” Impulse asks.
Scar walks up, using a spruce cane.
“I think so,” I agree, watching the cats.
“Yep,” Gem agrees.
Impulse nods, closing up the ramp. I watch as UV leaps up to look out a window. I joined her.
“Hey Gem, help me put up the hammocks,” Skizz says.
I continue looking out the window, watching as the village moves past, soon trees covering the view.
“Grian move, we’re gonna set a hammock here,” Gem grumbles.
I walk out of the way. “Do I need to move UV?”
Gem shakes her head. I watch the two set it up. Scar was playing some random game on the computer. Soon, the hammock was set up, so I took a seat on it, moving UV to my lap.
I kept dozing off, eyes slowly shutting. I leaned back slightly, yawning. Wraith joined my side, curling up with UV on my lap. I lean back, almost falling off before shifting to lay back.
~~~

When I awoke, it was much darker than before. I watched outside, seeing how UV and Wraith were both gone but Moroi took their spot. I curl my arms around her. A soft snore rings the room. I watch outside, looking between the trees. It was pretty.

Looking around the room, I notice Gem messing around in a sketchbook, Scar passed out, and Skizz playing with the other two cats.

Back outside, a pair of bold yellow eyes look at me, but not really. Tiny body of creamy white and rusty gold. Was that a cat?

I blink as it disappears. I look out the window but notice it’s gone. I shrug. Must still be tired.

~~~
A small town with a haunted house.
“Welcome to 6 Tanglewood Drive,” Impulse mutters, opening the door.
“Did you sleep?” Skizz asks.
“Me and Impulse switched while you three were asleep,” Gem informs.
I move Moroi and jump down, quickly grabbing my bag. I grab my jacket and slip it on, and grab my equipment.
“Get ready,” Scar announces.
I clip my flashlight to my pants band.
“What’s everyone taking?” I ask.
“I usually take the camera. But I’ll also take a parppablic,” Impulse replies.
“I’m taking D.O.T.S. and a cam,” Gem lists.
“Thermo and EMF,” Skizz sing-songs.
“Motion and sound sensors,” Scar happily replies.
Groan and sigh. I laugh before grabbing my Spirit Box and empty book and pen.
“Who’s got the keys?” Skizz asks.
“I do.” Gem dingles the keys.
I push myself up, looking to UV. I nod to her. Like the cats reading my mind, Moroi and Wraith chill while UV climbs up to sit on my head.
I’m first out of the van, looking at the house.
“Ready?” Impulse asks, now by my side.
I nod.
“Gem!” Impulse shouts in.
Gem looks over, confused.
“Keys,” I mutter with a smile.
Gem walks over before we head off to the door.
“The breaker is in the basement,” Skizz calls out on a radio, which Impulse and Gem have.
“Thanks,” Gem replies.
“Here Grian.” I’m handed a radio.
I take it and mutter a thanks. Gem unlocks the door and pushes it open. We shuffle in. Impulse beelines to the basement. I grab the keys I notice as I hear Gem shouting at Skizz over the radio.
“Breakers on.” Impulse calls.
“Thanks,” I replied.
I do a small jump back as a door slams shut. Gem and I look in the direction of the sound.
“Anyone know where that was?” Gem asks.
I watch as UV leaps down, bolting off.
“UV!” I call out, chasing her.
“Me and Scar are still in the van.”
“No.”
UV paws at a door near a door leading to the basement. I pushed it open, the door behind it was slightly open. UV walks past me to the other door, body glowing purple now. I walk over. The garage. On the other side of the door, with UV’s glowing, a green printed hand print was stamped on the door.
“Fingies,” I say.
“Where?” Impulse quickly replies.
“Garage,” I mutter.
A stumbled set of footsteps arrive. Impulse, slightly out of breath, holding up the camera. He stands by my side and takes a quick snap. Skizz arrives with the thermo, pacing around. UV wanders around, joyous.
“You did good U,” I say with a smile.
UV meows.
“Nothing in here,” Skizz mutters.
“Let's check the storage room, dining room, and kitchen,” Impulse recommends.
Skizz nods, walking over to the next room. I head off to the kitchen, looking around. A cup was knocked over on the ground, almost tripping me. UV meows are concerned.
I nod to her, looking around, feeling a strong chill.
“Anything over there?” Gem asks over the radio.
“No,” Impulse mutters.
“Cold in the kitchen,” I grumble.
Skizz walks over, looking over with the Thermo. A plate gets tossed. UV jumps back, hissing at the plate. I laugh, Skizz and Impulse joining in.
“In here!” Skizz shouts.
I crouch down and place down the book, setting the pen atop. Gem quickly comes into view. She sets up the camera and the D.O.T.S. at a quick speed. Scar follows her, setting the sensors down. EMF is pulled out, scanning over the room.
“I’m gonna be in the van, watch over the cam,” Scar says, quickly walking off.
“Can you bring anything else needed to the door?” Impulse asks.
Scar hums.
“Can someone look for hiding spots?” Skizz asks.
“Hey G, join me,” Gem offers, mainly forces.
We walk down stairs, looking around the basement to find one. All around the house we go, from room to room, finding a closet to hide in, two of the three being full of stuff, and behind a crib.
During that time, more fingers have been found, plates tossed about.
“EMF 5!” Skizz joyfully shouts over the radio.
“One more evidence needed,” Gem replies.
“I also need two more pictures,” Impulse informs.
“And for a perfect round, all three tasks are done,” Scar mutters.
I follow Gem to the kitchen. Moroi was sat upon the island, tail flicking from side to side as UV bolted around.
“Wraith still in the van?” I ask over the radio.
“Yep.”
I nod before following UV around.
“Sanity levels?” Skizz asks.
“The average is 47%,” Scar replies.
“Hunt is available,” Gem sings.
While looking around, the garage door was opened. UV runs over, I quickly follow. A handprint but different.
“Obake,” I announce.
“How do you know?” Impulse asks.
“6 fingered handprint,” I responded.
Thumps of someone running over. Impulse shows up, taking a picture.
“Wroten in the book,” Scar says.
“I’m gonna go look at the tasks.” And Gem leaves.
“So, we need a picture, so hunt or event, and the tasks,” Skizz mumbles, leaning on a wall.
“Task one: Cleanse the ghost area with incense. Task two: get it to blow out a firelight. And three: detect paranormal sounds,” Gem lists.
“Thanks,” Impulse response.
“Gem, Scar, bring in a firelight and incense. Remember a lighter,” Skizz says.
“On our way,” Scar sing-songs.
The two join, Wraith following behind them. I grab her, setting her on my shoulders. I watched as the firelight was set down, Gem quickly lighting it.
“Grian, can you do the para?” Impulse asks, handing it out to me.
I nod, taking it and turning it on. I listen quietly in the corner, petting a very joyed UV.
An event quickly happens, the firelight blowing out. I watch as Impulse takes a picture and Gem uses the incense.
“Someone go check the task board.” Skizz’ voice was altered.
I watch as Scar and Impulse heads off. I stay sat, listening for any scream.
“We just need the para,” Impulse informs.
“Well, G’s doing it,” Gem replies.
After a couple minutes, a loud scream is caught. I shut off the parabolic.
“Did it register?” I ask over the radio.
“Yep, let’s get out,” Scar agrees.
We head out after collecting everything, closing the front door behind us. I take my spot in the hammock I was in earlier, kicking off my shoes and setting my equipment onto the floor.
“I think we should sleep before heading home tomorrow,” Impulse yawns.
“I’m gonna check on Fran,” Scar mumbles.
I get down and grab a change of night clothes. Simple black tee with baggy, light sweats. I grab a random pair of socks.
“Gonna change,” I mutter.
“I’m gonna find a place with food,” Skizz replies.
With clothes gathered, we head off to get ready for night.
After all of us get changed and Skizz delivers food, we sit around, each on in hammocks. Talking about random stuff and hanging around. Wraith and UV played around. But as dinner/breakfast is done, we soon close the door, turn off the lights and go to sleep.
~~~

A wack wakes me up. I open an eye, seeing Moroi in front of me. I sit up before following the cats. They wanted out. I slip on my shoes and open the cart. When out, I close it. Wraith led the way, taking me over to the near woods. I sit down on a log and watch them play around. It was slightly dark, behind the trees were light, orange and pink. While dozing, something fuzzy rubs against me. For a second, I think it’s one of my cats but it wasn’t Wraith’s scratchy soft fur, UV’s fuzzy curly fur, or Moroi’s slick fur. My eyes shoot open, looking next to me. Rusty gold, candle white soft, fluffy fur. Bright yellow eyes, almost like a fireplace in them. Tail was long, but slim. I ran my hand over their tail, it felt like a waxy string, like a wick.

Mrowf .” A soft meow, small amount of hoarseness.

I looked into the eyes, and a strong connection was felt.

“Firelight,” I mutter.

Another meow. She crawls up onto my lap.

“There’s more out there?” I ask.

A soft nod.

“Grian?” A voice calls out.

I stand up, picking Firelight up. I walk back to the van, seeing Impulse looking around.

“Sorry, head off because the cats wanted to head out,” I reply.

“It’s fine. Get ready before heading off,” Impulse replies with a smile.

I head in, grabbing my clothes to change into. I set Firelight into my hammock. I quickly head off, walking off to the place we went to yesterday.

When I got back, food was there.

“Where were you?” Gem asks.

“In the forest. The cats wanted out,” I mutter.

I take a seat down, taking the food Skizz handed me. Another meal while talking for a while. But Firelight, which they didn’t notice, jumps onto my head.

“Who’s that?” Scar quickly asks, jumping back.

“Found another Phasmo cat. Firelight,” I huff.

Firelight meows. Her tail flicks, a small spark flicking off.

“Well, how many cats is that?” Gem asks.

I do a quick count. “40.”

Impulse hums.

~~~
I sat in the hammock, surrounded by the four cats I brought along, wait, one I found. I gently swing from side to side, petting Firelight and UV. I hum a song I know, but forgot also. I listen to Impulse, Gem, and Scar’s conversation. Skizz was directing Fran. It was a very chill ride, all four cats curling up with me.
~~~

After quick byes, Scar and I head back to the house, four cats joining our sides.

Entering with a shout to Mumbo.

“We’re back!” Scar yells.

Cats run over to me, meowing and running around. I pick up Voo, setting him on my shoulders. He meows, rubbing along my head.

“Welcome back.” A very tired Mumbo walks over.

“Cats keep you up?” I ask.

Mumbo nods, drinking out of a cup, what I assume is coffee.

“Well, another one has arrived,” I say with a smile.

Mumbo gives a slight glare. I pick up Firelight, holding her out.

“Firelight,” I mutter.

She meows. Mumbo sighs before walking back downstairs.

“I’m gonna go get a shower and new clothes,” I mutter.

“See you later,” Scar replies with a smile.

I head up and get ready.

~~~
I lay on a couch, getting smothered by more cats.
“Food!” Scar shouts.
I shove cats off of me and sluggishly walk over. I flop down onto the chair. Mumbo quickly joins us. Dinner was quiet but nice.
Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Taking Time To Make A Collar, Out On Bdubs’ Farm ~~~
Notes:
Posting this about two hours after surgery and I'm doing great!
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
I gather materials to make a new collar for Firelight, packing up a bag to head off. Everyone already fed, me fed and changed, and collars on. The leather straps I have for collars, money, and a piece of steel with carving stuff.
“Come on crazy cats, let's head off,” I mumble.
Cats follow me down the stairs. I shout a bye before heading off. I wander around as cats play around, tons going in different directions. I wander around, looking for leather paint.
“Hello, Grian right?” Someone asks.
I jump but turn around. Brown hair with dog ears sticking out. Wagging tail under a red and black flannel.
“Uh, yeah,” I agree.
“Nice to meet you! I’m Ren Diggity Dog,” He joyfully says.
Circle bursts a flame, leading to Firelight’s tail catching a flame. I sigh as Onryo runs off.
“The crazy cat person,” Ren laughs.
I smile and chuckle. “I sure am.”
“You look like you’re trying to find something,” Ren mutters.
“Yeah, leather paint,” I replied.
Ren smiles, fangs showing.
“Right this way,” Ren barks.
I follow him around, eyes flicking a range of colours.
“So here is where we have a range of paints. Our friend Katherine owns this place,” Ren informs.
I nod and walk in, Ren following.
“Katherine! Our new town member is here!” Ren howls.
A brown haired girl, about the same height as me, with white cat ears walks over, smiling.
“Hello,” She joyfully says.
“Hi, I’m Grian,” I replied.
“Well, what do you need?” Katherine asks.
“Leather paint,” I reply.
Katherine nods, leading us somewhere.
“Here’s the leather paint, tons of colours and if needed, I can mix colours,” Katherine mutters, showing me it.
“Thank you,” I replied.
I look over all the colours, seeing anything of colours that haven’t been used yet for the collars. Of everything, a candle white gets my eye. It would go perfect with Firelight.
“I think that candle white will work,” I grumble.
“How much?” Katherine asks, walking over to the paint.
“Enough for a collar,” I reply.
“Animal?” She meows.
I look down to the hoard of cats around me. Katherine looks over before laughing.
“Oh yes, a dog,” Katherine laughs sarcastically.
She grabs a small can of paint before looking over the price.
“For a new town member, 5 coins,” She says with a soft smile.
I nod and slip my bag off my shoulders and find the old leather tie bag. I pull out five silver coins and hand them to Katherine.
“Here ya go,” I say.
“Thanks Grian, nice to have met you,” Katherine glees.
“Same to you,” I reply, holding up the paintcan like a glass of alcohol.
Katherine giggles as we leave.
“Well, where are you off to now?” Ren asks, looking down at me and lifting his sunglasses to before his ears.
I look at his brown eyes.
“Bdubs’ farm,” I responded.
“Oh Bdubs! He’s been really excited since you’ve arrived,” Ren woofs.
I laugh. “Sounds like him.”
Ren hums. Ren leads me around. Ren talked about a lot of things, being hilarious.
“I remember Tango telling me you have 39 cats,” Ren mutters.
“Now 40,” I mumble.
“How?” Ren asks, ears peaked up.
“Welp, no clue.” I shrug.
Ren looks at me with wide, confused eyes. I giggle, eyes lightening up.
“How do you keep track!” He asks.
“A connection,” I reply.
“That’s impressive,” Ren laughs.
I smile and continue laughing. Ren’s tail wags like crazy, small woofs in his laugh.
“Howdy folks, what the laughter about.”
Still in laughter, I look up. Tall, too tall, blonde with a cowboy hat.
“Can't you shrink?” I ask with laughter.
The guys look at me with foggy blue eyes before closing them, bursting into laughter. Ren wheezes, almost doubling over. I laugh even more, it being like a disease.
After we calm down enough to speak, the guy introduces himself.
“Well man, I'm Jimmy. And whatever you hear, I am not a toy,” Jimmy chuckles.
“Nahh, you are a toy,” Ren woofs.
“Eah, I think you are a toy,” I say with a shrug and a smile.
“No!” Jimmy shouts.
“Shut up Timmy,” I continue laughing.
And back into dying laughter.
It takes a while to get back to not dying of laughter, but when we do, the tallers are both leaning on me.
“So, where are you two headed?” Jimmy asks.
“Bdubs’ farm. You seem to be headed there too,” Ren replies.
“I am. I need to see Bullseye!” Jimmy excitedly shouts.
“Well, show the way Timmy,” I say with a smirk.
“Jimmy,” He corrects.
“That's what I said Tim,” I giggle.
Voo meows from where he is on my shoulder. I pat his head.
“Well, right this way,” Jimmy sighs.
As he walks away. Ren follows him. EMF, Mimic, and Tarot trot after. I laugh before following along. Rev and Firelight chase me.
It doesn’t take long before we arrive to a large plain area with trees here and there. Horses were around, some cows and sheep. A sable border collie was watching over the animals. Another border collie, blue merle, was sitting near the barn. Different coloured puppies all around. Hard to count due to them playing about.
“Bdubs’ dogs watch the animals. That’s Marble and Trouble. Just five weeks ago they had pups. Bdubs’ hasn’t named them yet,” Ren informs.
As we get closer, Trouble bolts over, barking. The cats run over to me. Mimic flames up with a hiss.
“It’s okay, Trouble. Our new town member and his cats,” Jimmy says, petting the dog.
I walk over to the dog, holding my hand out. He sniffs my hand before his attention turns to the cats.
“He won’t hurt you guys,” Ren says.
I shift Voo to hold him closer to Trouble. Trouble sniffs him. Voo gives a tiny meow. Trouble quickly moves on to the other cats. Mimic, still pretty mad, wasn’t flaming anymore. But the cats soon calmed down after it seemed that Trouble wanted nothing to do with them.
“Welcome!” Bdubs shouts.
“Hey Bdubs!” Ren howls, causing the pups to howl.
“Hello,” I say with a smile.
“We’ve arrived,” Jimmy sing-songs.
Marble walks over, the bundle of pups follow. I lean down, smiling. Marble walks before her pups, needing to meet me and the cats.
“The dogs seem to like you,” Bdubs laughs.
Marble sniffs over my head. She quickly moves on to the cats. She seems to allow them, giving a small woof to her pups. Brown eyed brindle, blue eyed red, amber eyes lilac, sectoral eyed chocolate tri, blue eyed blue tri, two black bi, and heterochromia slate tri. The tiny fluff balls with thin tails and floppy, also invisible ears, run over. Each one having different collars.
“Hello little ones,” Bdubs awes.
Ren sits by my side, hands out to the puppies. The brindle runs over to me. The green collar is a little too big. I picked him up.
“Hi buddy,” I coo.
A small woof.
“They still need names. Can’t come up with anything,” Bdubs mutters.
I look over the small pup. Wagging tail, panting smile.
“Aren't you adorable,” I continued cooing.
A head tilt from him. But he slithers in my grasp. I set him down to go play. A black bi, the one with a pink collar. Coat of mud covered her paws and belly.
“Sorry she’s still muddy. Always playing in the mud,” Bdubs mutters.
“It’s fine,” I say.
She barks at me, shaking her fur. Small rocks and mud chunks.
“Well, how about we head inside,” Bdubs offers.
“Sounds good. I do want to get some treats for Bullseye,” Jimmy agrees.
I nod and stand up with the pup. The cats quickly follow us.
Bdubs leads us to a small cottage house. Trouble bolts over, going in a dog door. Marble follows with the other seven puppies.
Inside was pretty simple, except for the vast amounts of mud. Jimmy bolts to a cabinet. An old, patched up dark grey couch is where we sit.
“If you come up with a name for the puppies, let me know,” Bdubs sighs.
“Gravel,” I mutter.
The two look to me.
“She loves playing in the mud, dirt, gravel,” I inform.
Bdubs hums, looking at the puppy in my lap.
“It fits her,” Ren agrees.
“What?” Jimmy asks, walking over.
“One out of eight have a name,” I tell him.
“Gravel,” Bdubs glees.
Jimmy nods before heading off.
~~~

After a while, I sat out on the porch. Voo laid by my side, sprawled out in the sun. Jimmy and Bdubs were off riding on Bullseye and Splotches, running around and galloping. Rev was climbing nearby trees, Firelight and Mimic played around in front of me. EMF was curled up by some sheep, joyed. And Tarot was joining Jimmy with Bullseye.

I dip the paintbrush into the leather paint. Running it over the strip of leather, which I fixed to fit Firelight and be able to close. A process I’ve remembered, and memorised. Painting one side, let it dry in the sun for a while, paint the other side, dry, paint another layer, dry, another layer, dry, and continue. While it dries, I work on the tag. Steel carved into a small oval, which took longer than anyone would expect. Needing to carve the name also.

“How is it going?” Someone asks, jumpscaring me.

“Sorry.” He says. “I’m Etho.”

“Grian, the one with the bundle of cats,” I reply.

White hair with a band, black mask, and heterochromia red and grey eyes.

“Well, how is it going?” He asks again.

“The collar is working well,” I reply, a soft smile across my lips.

Etho takes a seat by me, looking off to the horses.

“So, how have you liked the town?” He asks.

“It’s nice, more accepting than previous towns,” I responded.

Etho hums. “So, are the cats yours?”

“Yep,” I mutter.

“What are their names?” Etho mutters.

“Their collars have their names if needed,” I reply.

Etho nods. We sit in silence, keeping to ourselves. I start carving the name, keeping it simple but nice. Shouts in the background from the two on the horses.

“So Grian, where did you get all the beans?” Etho asks, looking to Voo.

“Well, each one came to me with a connection. A connection that I don’t understand but it’s fine.”

Voo shifts from the connection talk, one of his least favourite conversations I hold.

“That cat looks like the VooDoo Doll,” Etho mutters.

“Well, he’s the doll but as a cat. All my cats are somehow the Phasmophobia stuff but as cats,” I tell him.

Etho puts his hand out to Voo, who sniffs his hand back.

“Voo is my main companion. We have some strong connections, stronger than the others. But their love will never leave my side.”

Etho hums. I set the teg to the side and lean back. I look up to the clouded sky. I close my eyes, relaxing under the sun.

“Etho! Grian! Wanna join us?” Bdubs shouts.

I open an eye. Etho looks to me, hand out. With that, we head off to the inclosed area. Etho jumps over the fence. I climb over, watching as Voo easily leaps over. Bdubs walks over, smiling from ear to ear.

“Etho, you know which horse is yours,” Bdubs says.

“Yep, Umbra,” Etho humms.

“Grian, I think Fri will be best for you,” Bdubs offers.

A golden coloured horse ran over to her name. She pranced around.

“Hi girl,” Jimmy happily says.

Etho brings over a saddle with all the under gear. As we waited with small talk, a deep brown horse trots over. It was a horse I recognized as Fran.

“Hello Fran,” I whisper.

She neighs, happily trotting around us.

“Are you happy?” Bdubs asks his horse.

Another neigh. Tarot meows back, climbing up Jimmy’s back to sit on his hat. Black, shadow like horse walks over.

“One second Umbra, I’m trying to get Fri ready,” Etho mutters.

In no time, Etho was helping me with Fri.

“Just step on my hands and I’ll lift you up,” Etho informs.

I hum and step onto his hands.

“One.”

Both hands on Fri’s side.

“Two.”

Voo leaps up onto her back.

“Three.”

Etho lifts me up as I follow the steps given. Move my other leg over her back, hands onto the reins. I situate my other foot into the foot holder things. Voo meows from where he sat. I watch as Etho quickly and smoothly hops onto Umbra. Jimmy brings Bullseye to our side.

“Ready?” He asks.

“Yep,” I agree.

With a small kick of my boots to her rump, Fri starts walking off. I direct her to follow Bdubs. Jimmy quickly rides around all of us.

“You seem to wanna race,” Etho huffs.

“Well, you on?” Jimmy asks, bringing Bullseye to Umbra’s side.

“Bdubs! Countdown from three!” Etho shouts back.

“Alrighty! Three!”

They move to be ready for the race, even.

“Two!”

I move Fri to the side, slightly closer to the other two.

“One!”

All ready.

“Go!”

The two dash off, both at quick speeds. I kick Fri’s side. She runs off as I dip forward. Fri notices to run faster. Wind blew in my hair, fluffing it up. I shout in joy. Voo climbs up my back, slightly perching on my shoulder.

“What?” I hear Jimmy mutter.

“To the fence!” Etho hollers.

Not that far, which is fine.

“Come on girl, let’s get there,” I whisper to the horse.

Voo meows, almost as if translating. Fri runs faster. When we arrive at the fence, I stretch out and touch it, pulling on the reins to stop. Fri neighs. I smile over to the others. Etho and Jimmy quickly follow me with Bdubs behind them. Jimmy and Bdubs looking confused.

“I just don’t know how to get a horse ready and struggle to get up. I never said I don’t know how to ride.” I smirk.

“Jeez, you sure do,” Etho chuckles, smiling.

Tarot meows, jumping onto Jimmy’s hat.

“Well, I think Tarot agrees,” Bdubs laughs.

“Well, first back to the barn gets to choose lunch!” Jimmy shouts while immediately directing her to the barn.

“Hey!” Bdubs and I shout in sync.

I kick her rump, quickly setting off to follow Jimmy. Bdubs and Etho quickly joined.

~~~
Etho sighs from where he stood, right in front of the stove.
“I can’t believe I have to make lunch,” He mutters.
“Hurry up with lunch,” Jimmy complains.
Etho mutters to himself. I watched as EMF was looking over his shoulder, waiting to snatch food.
“Shut up. You’re the one who chose a horrid meal,” Etho grumbles.
I laugh while walking over, snatching Mimic from where he was, trying to touch the flame.
“Rev, Tarot, leave the ingredients alone,” I scold.
Tarot looks over with an innocent meow. Rev just stares at me. I changed my gaze to Firelight, who was watching Bdubs shuffle some cards. I go back and sit down.
“They just want to help,” Bdubs laughs.
I roll my eyes. Bdubs passes cards out to us.
“You gonna join?” Bdubs asks Etho.
“I’m making lunch, maybe when done,” He growls.
Bdubs continues passing out cards.
“What are we playing?” I ask.
“3-13,” Jimmy replies.
I nod, looking at my three cards.
“Do you know how to play?” Bdubs asks.
I nod. At bars some people would be playing this and I would join from time to time. A five of spades, seven of hearts, and a Queen of diamonds.
“Grian, you start first,” Bdubs says.
I picked another card. 9 of spades. I set down the Queen in return. Jimmy plays, placing down a 10 of spades. Bdubs snatches that ten quickly. I make a mental note to keep another 10 away from him. He places the King of hearts down. Next card I pick up I set down, the King of diamonds. Next card placed down is the one Jimmy grabs is Jack of diamonds. Bdubs groans as he places his newly picked up card, Jack of hearts. I get a 4 of spades next. I keep it and place the seven of hearts. Jimmy picks up and places the Queen of clovers. Next placed is King of clovers.
“What’s happening!” Jimmy shouts.
I pick up Queen of hearts, with a soft shout, I place it down. Jimmy grabs a card and keeps it. He places a 6 of diamonds in return. Bdubs places down a 7 of hearts that he picked up. I picked four of diamonds. I switch it with my 10 of spades. Two chances of winning. Jimmy grabs a card and sighs before placing the Queen of spades. Bdubs groans as he places 5 of diamonds. I look at it, my cards, and back. I grab a card from the deck, 8 of hearts and I place it down. Jimmy picks up another card, sliding it into his deck and placing a 9 of hearts. That idiot. Next is ace, which Bdubs sets. I picked up a 10 of clovers. I didn’t need it and Jimmy was next. I place it down. Jimmy laughs and picks up another card and places it down, 6 of hearts. Bdubs yells while picking up a card.
“How dare you,” He growls.
He looks at the card and sets it down. 6 of spades. I switch it with my 4 of diamonds. I place down my set. 4, 5, and 6 of spades.
“Nooo!” Jimmy screams.
“Who won?” Etho asks, looking over.
“I did,” I smugly say.
We continue playing rounds, winning varies between us.
“Well crazy people, lunch,” Etho mutters, placing two plates in the middle of our game.
The deck slides. Bdubs quickly stacks them up. On the plates were homemade spaghetti, four cheeses sauce, pesto, and shredded cheese on top. Etho quickly brought over two more plates and set them down, pushing Mimic off the seat and joined us. I grabbed the fork and quickly got some pasta with both sauces. Jimmy is scarfing down the food, getting scolded by Etho to slow down. I bite down and look down. How was this so good? I get a little bit to each cat. As we ate, small talk around, and cats bothering us. Normal for me.
“Well, should we restart so Etho can join?” Bdubs asks.
I nod while standing up with my plate. Jimmy steals it from me.
“Nope,” He mumbles.
I look at Etho, confused.
“Jimmy won’t let any newcomers do chores,” Bdubs informs.
I sigh but allow it. I reshuffle the cards, quickly doing a riffle shuffle. I do it a second time. Quickly passing out four groups of three. I set the rest in the middle and pick up mine. 8 of clovers, ace of hearts, and 10 of clovers. Etho starts, taking a card. He places it back down, king of hearts. Jimmy picks it up and switches it with 9 of diamonds. Bdubs pulls a card out and switches it with 2 of hearts. I look at mine and pull another card. I sigh and switch the new 5 of diamonds with my ace and the stack down. Etho picks up and sets down 9 of clovers. Darn it I could use that. 5 of hearts is placed down soon. The 4 of diamonds. I pick it up and switch it with my five. Etho snatches it at lightning speed.
“Down!” He shouts.
3 of hearts, which is a wild this round, 5 and 6 of diamonds.
“One more card each,” Bdubs mutters while Jimmy grabs one.
4 of hearts is placed down in return. Setting down King of hearts and spades and a 10 of diamonds. Bdubs takes it and sets a five of spades down. 4, 6, and 7 of hearts are placed down. I pick up a 9 of spades but set it down before laying mine down. Etho won the first one, marking our points down from loss.
We continued, Bdubs winning next, then I, Bdubs again, then him again, Jimmy, I, Bdubs, Etho, and lastly I. But with the points combined. I have the least amount of points, so I win.
“Wow, that was so close,” Jimmy laughs.
“You won once,” Bdubs growls.
“But it was fun,” I say with a shrug.
“Agreed,” Etho laughs.
I look outside, seeing the slight darkness of the world.
“I should probably get back. The cats will bother me to feed them soon,” I mutter.
“See ya.” Bdubs hurriedly waves.
“Bye mate,” Jimmy says.
“Nice to meet you guys,” small yip from Etho.
I wave, say goodbye to the dogs, and head off with my cats.
“Well guys, new friends,” I say with a yawn.
EMF meows, eyes flicking different colours. I scoop up Mimic and continue to the house, multiple cats running over and bothering me. But it was normal.
Chapter Text
Mornings, a horrible time.
“One second cats! I’ll feed ya soon!” I yell as I was trying to finish getting ready for the day.
A greyish black paw swiped under the door.
“Wait Box,” I huff.
I finish slipping on my socks and fluffing up my hair. I walk off to the door and open it, seeing the bundle of cats right by the door. I sigh and pick up the bag of cat food and kick out the five bowls. I fill up the many bowls, unhappy with the weight of the bag.
“I’m gonna need to make more food,” I note.
Spirit looks up at me with a soft meow before going back to eating. I chuckle and gather my bag. Coins, treats, a snack, water bottle with a small bowl, and room for more. I slip the leather bag over my shoulders and clip it in front.
“I’m heading up bundles of crazy. Come find me later,” I mutter and head down.
“Morning Grian, breakfast?” Scar asks with a smile.
“No, Lizzie asked me to come to her cafe this morning,” I replied.
“Ooh, tell her we said hi,” Mumbo says, heading off.
“I will!” And I was out the door, heading off to the cafe.
I run down to the cafe, bounding around and open the door.
“I’ve arrived,” I sing-song.
“Hello G,” Joel says.
“Scar and Mumbo say hi.”
Lizzie walks over nodding. “Where are the cats?”
“Having their breakfast,” I reply.
“Good, I can hide everything from Rev,” Joel laughs.
I look to him, nodding and laughing.
“Well, then I don’t have my little buddy,” Lizzie giggles.
“Oh they’ll be here soon. You’ve never seen them with breakfast,” I inform, laughing.
Lizzie smiles before walking into the diner.
“I’m surprised you don’t work,” I mutter, leaning on the table.
“I do when it gets busier. Lizzie would probably kill me if I never helped her.”
I nod.
“You know it!” Lizzie shouts.
Joel sighs while leaning back. I laugh before a sound is at the door. I stand up and walk to the door. I open it up as multiple cats run in. Scribbles heads straight to the counter as Rev goes to bother Joel.
“Hi trouble maker,” Joel laughs.
I walk over and take my seat back. Box leaps up and sits on my lap. Moroi tries to join but Box bats her off. Thaye and Wraith watch from the ground.
“Box, make room for your sister,” I scold.
Box gives me a glare, a chh sound fluffing around. Moroi pushes him over a bit to join.
“Crazy cats,” Joel laughs.
I nod and look at Rev who was playing with a light pink hair tie.
“Trust me, they are more than this,” I chuckle.
“I believe you,” Joel responds.
With small talk, scolding the cats, and laughing. In no time, a plate of egg benedict was in front of me.
“Enjoy.”
She brings over another plate for Joel and herself before serving the cat's whip cream.
“You’re spoiling them,” Joel sighs.
“Well, they’ll never get out of your hair,” I say with a laugh.
Lizzie sits down and joins us, adding more to the small talk.
“So, plans for the day?” Lizzie asks.
“Well, I need to make more food for the cats,” I sigh.
“Sounds like a hassle,” Joel laughs.
“Worth it to not be killed in the morning,” I chuckle.
Joel looks to Rev and nods. “He would.”
“Well, I want to stay alive so that’s today,” I sigh.
“Well, I wish you luck,” Lizzie laughs.
“Thank you, I need it all,” I chuckle.
Joel joins in the laughter. Rev bats my head, hissing.
“I get it, you want food,” I giggle, grabbing his paw.
Rev struggles back before I let his paw go. He struggles back before I let his paw go, letting him fall back, right into Joel’s lap. Joel laughs while brushing his fur.
“Crazy little cat,” Lizzie chuckles while petting him.
Scribbles meows. Box grumpily meows, batting at Moroi.
“Leave your sister be,” I grumble.
Wraith softly meows as she sits atop my head. I picked Thaye to join us.
~~~

I walk around the area, looking at different stories with bundles of cats following. All the meows I knew and memorised. I sigh, hating the glances and weird looks from people that obviously didn’t live here. If they did, they would have seen crazier from what I have heard.

“I get that you guys need more food, if you could help,” I growl, getting looks like I’m crazy.

Goryo trots up, DOTS right behind him. His slight invisible fur with green dots lining it terrified people. He’s not even the most terrifying!

“Yes Gor?” I ask.

A soft meow, which Box translates to “ Scaryy….people ”.

“Yeah, I know. They don't understand your, any of you, sweet minds,” I reply, standing proudly.

Demon runs over to Goryo and DOTS, being in front of Box. He stands proud, tail flicking, ears back, making sure his horns are shown.

“That cat has horns,” I hear someone mutter.

“Why would that be allowed?” Another person asks.

“Because he’s loved,” I loudly say.

The two look at me, scared. I smirk while leaning down to pick Demon up. He looks up to me and meows with joy. Rev joins my side, Monkey and Mimic close behind. I stop walking and crouch. I scoop Monkey close, brushing my hands over his scraggly fur. Others join around soon, the shy and loud, crazy and hated (by others).

“Crazy person.”

“What in eight hells is that right?”

“We should let the mayor of the town.”

Someone steps in front of me, green armoured boots.

“The said ‘mayor’ is fine with this,” He growls.

I look up. The cool feeling and terrifying aurora.

“Where is the mayor?” One person asks, stepping up.

“Our town ‘ere don’t have a mayor. Created by people who follow the ghosts and Phasmophobia Company. Why are you in this town if you don’t like the paranormal activity and unusual sightings?” He huffs.

“That’s made up by the crazy,” A girl mutters.

“Well, you see them. Goryo and Shade, Revenant and Haunted Mirror, Firelight and Hantu. Cats of this world that haunts the world but found their heart in me,” I fight.

“Really, just some crazy person dressing up his poor, poor cats,” Another awes.

I stand up, Monkey in my arms.

“We need to rescue those cats.”

“Save the cats.”

I look to the cats as a person steps forward, hands out. “Come here kitties.”

Rev jumps forward and hisses, hackles raised. Circle’s body flames up, which Firelight uses to catch her tail aflame.

“Are you sure they’re fake?” I ask smugly.

“Stop acting!”

“Monkey, I wish for rain,” I cast.

One of his tails go limp, clouds grow around, rain drips around. Orbs flouts up, keeping by my head.

“See, in this town, my friends are dear with the cats. These cats will stay as long as needed, which is as long as my friend here stays.” The other guy walked by my side.

“Where’s the mayor!”

“We don’t have one. This town is owned and run by the people who live here, of which I am one. Xisuma Void is the name,” He introduces.

I look to Xisuma. In Bdubs’ quick rant, I barely caught his name. Voo runs up my back and sits on my shoulders. The other people look confused but scared.

“So if you have a problem with the cats. Buy and create and place to live here, be here for a month, then you have a say. Otherwise, you can be quiet and leave Grian and his cats here alone,” Xisuma forces.

I look to Xisuma before looking back at the others.

“Wherever I go, these wonders follow. They might be crazy and feisty, some shy and neutral, but they are my soul life, connected by the fates. I’ve been kicked out before but I will never leave them,” I proudly say, looking across my bundle of joys.

5, 13, 19, 24, 27, 32, 36, 40, 42…wait! 42? I look closely across my cats. Two I haven’t seen before. An all white cat with very short fur and a camo grey with white and black.

I look back to the people, watching as they walk off, scared.

“Sorry about them, people don’t like how our town is. But we follow the ghosts, follow how the world is. Phasmophobia Co. respects us with how we are. I think they would love to meet these little ones. But I’m Xisuma,” He introduces.

“Grian, nice to meet you. Thanks for helping us,” I mutter.

“It’s no issue. I hate how people are with this town. We’re not some town that they can waltz into and hate how it’s run when it just how when it’s how we run it. Amazing and diverse, letting the paranormal feel free to stay as long as they don’t do anything horrendous.”

I nod. “Doesn’t sound like any town I’ve been to, but definitely better.”

“Well, it’s good to have you here, and the bundles of chaos,” Xisuma laughs.

“You sure got that right,” I giggle.

Moroi trots up to Xisuma’s side, meowing. He picks her up.

“Hello little one. Good to see you again.”

“You’ve seen her before?” I ask.

“Indeed, Moroi has been around me for a while. I think she likes me,” Xisuma informs.

I pet Moroi, brown ears flicking under my hand.

“Well, I should head off. Hope to see you soon.” He sets Moroi and heads off.

“Same to you!” I shout.

I look back to the cats. In the bundle of cats I have memorised, two ones I’ve never seen before in the mix. I crouch down and look at them. The white one happily walks over. His fur was almost grainy. I look over to Wraith, who tried hiding away.

“You’re another cat of the Phasmophobia Co. Salt,” I mutter.

He meows, a hoarse meow, like he ate a cheese grater. But a flash of white gets my attention. The camo cat, eyes bright white.

“And you must be Motion Sensor.”

Echoey meow of agreement. I needed new collars and probably a new bowl.

“Well, good thing we’re shopping. We can go back to Katherine’s shop. I also need to get another bowl and more stuff to make your guys food,” I mumble.

I pick up Salt, wincing at the weird fur texture but stand up. I started walking to a butcher shop I saw. The 42 cats follow, soft meows with joy. But I soon arrive, a simple cobblestone, stone, and spruce mix with other accents around. I enter in, a small ding ringing above me. I look around. Not what I've seen in past butchers, animal remains hanging around. This one looked like a diner almost, a menu dangling from the circling, a normal counter with a register. Different pictures leaned the walls, some had people that I didn't know and some of the others I've met. A small bell on the counter with a sign, ‘Ring for help’. I exit the doorway and tap the bell. A ding rings the room, louder than the one above the door.

“One second!” Someone shouts.

I look to the cats, thinking about they're favourites and what I would need to get. I think for a bit when I'm taken out of my trance by footsteps growing louder and louder. Soon, a tall guy entered, a bloodied apron over as he pulled off clear plastic gloves.

“Well hello. You must be the new town's member with a bundle of cats. I'm Beef,” He introduces.

“Grian, and you are sure right about that,” I say with a laugh.

Beef chuckles, smiling at me. “Well, what can I get ya?”

“Range of any cow, chicken, pork, lamb, and any other meats,” I grumble.

“Any preferred meats or amount?” He asks.

I shake my head. “Haven't you seen these? I need to feed them all.”

Beef nods and quickly heads back. I take a seat on the floor, cats quickly climbing all over me. I lean against the wall and relax.

It takes a bit until Beef comes back, a bag of different types of meats.

“Well, here ya go. 25 coins,” He says.

I slip off my bag and pull out the small, sewn bag filled with coins. I quickly pull out 25 and set them on the counter. He hands me the bag and picks up the coins. I put the bag in mine.

“Well, nice to meet you,” Beef offers.

“Same to you.” I head out. Cats following me out.

I sigh and think of what else I need. More paint and a bowl. I start to pick up my pace down the street, humming a song. I try to find anything. I soon arrived at the paint shop. I soon enter and look around.

“Hello, oh Grian! Nice to see you again.” Katherine smiles.

“Nice to see you too. Back for more paint for collars,” I laugh.

Katherine nods before looking to the cats, aweing. I giggle while walking to the leather paints. I pick a foggy white for Salt and a range of mints for Motion. I quickly pay and head back to the house.

I stayed in my room, painting the collars as Salt and Motion looked around the room. It was quiet and calm. I yawn and sit back. Contemplating about taking a quick doze. With a small close of my eyes, a pawing sound on the window. I open my eyes and look over, expecting one of my cats to be staring at a bird. What I didn't expect was another cat at the windows. A strong reminder of wood for the cat's fur. I quickly set down the collar and head over to the window and open it up. She trots in and looks up at me. Deep brown eyes stare into mine. Voo walks over and rubs up against her.

“Welp, I guess another cat has arrived,” I sigh.

The new cat meows. I look over her, wood like fur, some like it was painted white, and old white. Tail flicked from side to side.

“Crucifix,” I mutter.

An agreed meow.

“Well, welcome to the family.”

~~~
I walk down the stairs to the shout of dinner. The cats follow as I take my seat. Scar brings over the plates and sets them down.
“White lasagna, no meat for Mumbo,” Scar says with a smile.
“Thanks.” We say in sync.
I watch as Scar brings over his plate but goes back to the oven.
“He made the cat treats,” Mumbo informs me.
I nod and start eating. Scar counts as he gives each cat a treat.
“Grian, why are there three more cats?” Scar asks.
Mumbo coughs and looks to me.
“Yeah, they appeared today,” I say before continuing to eat.
Scar looks over to me.
“Salt, Motion, and Cruci,” I grumble.
Cruci meows. Scar sighs, same with Mumbo. I smile before going back to eating.
Chapter Text
“Grian, see you at work later?” Scar asks while he’s about to leave.
“You know it,” I agree.
Scar smiles and nods before heading out and leaving. I turn around and look around the house. I had it alone. Mumbo was off with someone named Tango to get more redstone. With quick speed, I take a seat on the couch, watching over the cats. I hum songs I used to sing to the cats, getting many of their attention.
“Call, call, call. What’s my problem? Well, I want you to follow me down to the bottom. Underneath the insane asylum,” I sing.
More cats join around.
“Keep your wits about you while you got ‘em. ‘Cause your wits are first to go while you’re problem-solving. And my problem? We glorify those even more when they…
“My opinion, our culture can treat a loss. Like it’s a win and right before we turn on them. We give them the highest of praise, and hang their banner from a ceiling. Communicating, further engraving. An earlier grave is an optional way.
“No!
“Neon gravestones try to call.
“Neon gravestones try to call for my bones. Call, call, call, call. Call, call.”
I continue singing “Neon Gravestones” to the cats. When I finish that song, I sing “Mulberry Street”. I would toss a small ball of yarn for the cats, which was cute as they ran, fighting for it. Every time they bring it back, I toss it off again.
I just played with my cats, tug-o-war, fetch, they really act like dogs from time to time. But a small crash gets my attention. I look over to the stairs as I watch someone slowly start walking down, calling out for Jellie. The panda hat slightly covered his eyes. I watch as Mimic walks over to the bottom of the stairs.
“Oh hello. I didn’t know they got a new cat,” He joyfully says.
Mimic meows, Box joins his side.
“Two kitties,” Oli awes.
“Or maybe a roommate with 42 cats,” I say.
He jumps back a bit, looking up to me and lifting his hat up a little.
“Oh, uhh. I didn’t think anyone would be here,” His guilty tone.
“Well, I’m here. Grian, the new roommate,” I introduce.
“Oli, the bard.”
I nod as I watch Rev get ready to pounce onto his head.
“I would watch out if I were you,” I laugh.
Oli looked like he was about to say something until Rev jumped down. A screech erupts. I sigh and stand up, walking over and standing on my tips toes to grab Rev.
“Rev-“
“Oh, Rev. Joel talked a lot about you even more,” Oli chuckles.
“Yep, my little troublemaker.”
Cats gather around, Jellie included.
“Jeez, how many cats?” He asks, picking up Music.
“That’s Music.”
Music sings, tail circling. The beat of “Razzmatazz” playing around.
“Oh, what song is that?” He asks.
“‘Razzmatazz’,” I replied.
Oli nods.
“Yep, I sing songs often,” I admit.
“Well, I pet more than one cat, so I’ll head out,” Oli mutters, walking back up.
“Leave Music and please, out the front door,” I grumble.
Oli sighs but walks down. He sets Music down and walks out the front door after petting Jellie. I look to the cats, shrug, and head back to the couch.
~~~

“Okay bundles of nonsense, to work we head!” I shout over the meows and whines.

I scoop up Music and open the door, watching as every-cat runs out the door, beside Music. I follow them and close the door, locking it. With all the cats looking around, making sure nothing new has happened. I walk past them with a soft whistle, calling them over.

It was a short walk, but took even longer with the cats.

“Rev, you may not harass people! Banshee, stop screaming!”

People who did not live here gave me weird looks. From glares to judging looks. Gossiping and angry huffs. Another person shouted at me for having, and quoting her, “an ungodsly amount of cats that don’t deserve to live with the creepiness they hold. And if they were normal, that would be an unsanitary, uncontrollable, horrible amount of cats”. I give a blind eye as Banshee screams and sings at her. But I enter GIGS, counting the cats as they enter.

“Hey G! Good to see you have arrived!” Impulse shouts.

“Hey!” I wave.

I shut the door and let Music down.

“I heard screaming outside, everything okay?” Gem asks.

“Ehh, some lady wasn’t happy. Banshee screamed at her,” I shrug.

I get multiple scared looks.

“That was her?” Skizz shouts.

I nod.

“What did that lady say?” Scar asks.

So, I told them.

“Well, I would have fought her,” Skizz huffs.

“That’s my cats’ job,” I laugh.

Voo meows, agreeing. Others meow with him, different tones and loudness. I copy a meow.

“So, any calls?” I ask.

“Nope, net yet,” Gem replies.

“Gaming time!” Impulse shouts.

We all head off to the living room, assigned laptops on the table and a variety of seats. I flop down onto the bright pink bean bag. I reach my hands out for it. Skizz laughs and hands it to me. I pick it up and open it up, typing my password. I quickly pull up Minecraft and get onto the GIGS server.

“What you doing today G?” Scar asks.

“More builds around,” I sing-song.

We all do our own thing but still do chaos.

“I died! Someone pick up my stuff!” Impulse yells.

“I’m off in a mangrove swamp, way too far,” I mumble.

“Ehh, I’m building up with concrete powder,” Skizz grumbles.

“With G,” Gem replies.

“Where did you die?” Scar asks.

“Near the village!” Impulse panics.

“Headed there,” Scar sing-songs.

“Thanks,” Impulse glees.

I laugh as the second Scar picks up Impulse’s stuff, he dies from a zombie.

“Noo!” Scar complains.

“I’m almost there!” Impulse shreeks.

“Jeez you two are failing,” I giggle.

“Shut it G,” Impulse grumbles.

Gem and I continue around the mangrove, collecting mud, tadpoles, and a frog, and much more stuff. During that, Scar and Impulse were shouting about their stuff before Skizz decided to go help the two. Skizz died also because he started a raid.

“These are chaotic people,” I grumble.

Gem laughs. “They are failing.”

“Stop it!” Skizz shouts.

We both laugh as the three yell at eachother, failing to gather everything and live, also defeat the raid.

“Can’t you two help?” Scar whines.

“Hmm, let’s see…we’re busy,” I laugh.

Impulse grumbles.

“We’re collecting stuff from the mangrove!” Gem shouts.

“We need help,” Skizz whines.

“I believe in you three,” I giggle.

I smile with a bit of laughter. Laughter grows around, bright smiles. But a small bump of something gets our attention.

“What was that?” Scar mumbles.

“Darnit, Music, where are you?” The random voice mutters.

A voice I remembered from this morning.

“Oli?” I ask, looking over to the vents.

“Whatt?” The person replies.

“Oli!” Gem laughs.

Another bang and the vent door falls under the panda hat blonde. He crashes to the floor, groaning. Impulse sighs.

“What are you doing here?” Skizz asks.

“Uhhh,” Oli mumbles.

“Trying to get Music again like this morning?” I ask.

“This morning?” Scar asks, looking at me.

Oli scrambles up.

“Well, he “broke” in, wanting to pet Jellie but saw me and the bundle of other cats. A connection with Music,” I explain.

“Oh come on,” Oli whines.

“Well, you’ve seen the cats, shoo,” Gem giggles.

Oli whines. “I thought you guys would be out for lunch.”

“Oh, it’s lunch time,” Skizz grumbles.

A stomach replies.

“I’ll take that as a yes,” Gem giggles.

“Come on everyone, let’s go get some food,” I announce, setting the laptop down.

“Oli too?” Scar asks.

I nod and pick up Goryo. Oli joyfully skips after me as I lead us to the door for our quick walk to the cafe.

~~~
“So you’re saying it’s normal for Oli to come in?” I ask Mumbo.
“Yep,” He agreed.
I sigh, watching as Banshee yells at Scar, while he talks with her.
“And is that normal?” Mumbo asks.
“Banshee yelling to people as if they’re having a conversation, yes.” I grumble. “Or yells at anyone for any reason.”
Chapter Text
Onryo sat upon my face, unhappily meowing. I try to push him off but when I succeed, Obake shoves his distorted face into mine.
“Oh jeez,” I mumble, pushing him back.
He shakes his head, going back to his normal view. I grumble while sitting up. Hantu looking over to me from his freezer with Freezing. When I stand up, a bundle run over, trying to trip me.
“It’s like every morning, let me get ready,” I complain.
The meows and hissing replies, Box’s chsch sound before an unhappy mumble “ bad ”. I rolled my eyes and pulled out a red tank top, black jeans, a random jacket that had many scratches along it, socks and a dog chain with my first cats’ names. I scurry to the bathroom and bat the cats away. I slam the door and sigh. I swiftly get ready with the day, taking a shower and fluffing up my hair.
I exit the room and immediately get bombarded by cats.
“Normal routine,” I sigh.
Sliding the bowls over in a row and grabbing the food. Pouring some in each bowl. Cats rushing over, ducking under my legs and wolfing down food.
“Spazzes,” I mumbles before setting the bag down and heading to the kitchen.
When I get down, Jellie runs over, meowing at me.
“Hiya girl. The other’s will be down soon,” I tell her.
“Grian, we’ve gotta hurry. Impulse came by this morning and told me that we have another call. Something im…impo…, something making us needed quick,” Scar says.
“Well, I’ll go get stuff,” I sigh.
I turn around and head back up, swiftly grabbing a bag.
“Yes, yes another call. Be quiet. I need to pack stuff,” I grumble.
The cats indeed do not stay quiet. They screamed at me non-stop, small shouts from them. I packed up clothes and toiletries.
“Shut up before I leave you all here,” I huff.
Almost immediately the cats shut up. I giggle. I think of cats. Maybe Circle, and Scribbles? The two could help. I pack up some treats and food for them. Same with ghost gear.
“Well, as I’m ready to leave, I have made my decision.”
Meows fill the room.
“Okay, okay. Quiet. I’ve chosen Circle and Scribbles,” I announce.
Two happy meows but the rest angry or disappointed. And my jacket gets even more scratches.
I walk down, Circle walking in front of me and Scribbles on my shoulder.
“Ready!” I shout.
“Scar’s already left,” Mumbo laughs, walking past me.
“Darn it,” I grumble.
“Well mate, run to catch up to them. Stay safe,” He pleads.
I nod and shout a goodbye to everyone and start running down the street.
In no time, I arrived at the place. Everything was almost set up.
“I’m here,” I pant.
“Nice to see you’ve decided to come,” Gem giggles.
I flick my hand at her like a shoo.
“Get in the van so we can get out of here,” Impulse scolds.
“Didn’t we invite Jimmy this time?” Scar asks.
“Yeah, but if he ain’t here when we leave, he ain’t coming,” Skizz laughs.
I heard the cats into the van before setting my stuff in the corner.
“G, help me with the hammocks,” Gem says.
I nod and help her. Skizz joined in after a bit. But a shout gets our attention.
“Late!”
Jimmy.
“Hello Jimmy Jingles,” Skizz welcomes with a laugh.
“Timmy, nice to see you finally decided to join.” I smirk.
“I said my name’s Jimmy,” He sighs.
“That’s what I said Tim,” I continued.
I hear Gem laugh. Jimmy sighs but a smile lines his face.
“Come on you crazy people, hurry up so we can get out,” Impulse chuckles.
~~~

I hung over my hammock, as it was the only red one. Circle was happily curled up on me. Scribbles was watching Gem draw.

“She keeps trying to steal my pencil!” Gem complains.

“There, there Gemstone,” Skizz mumbles.

“You can give her a pencil, she does know how to write and draw,” I inform them.

I watch as Gem grabs another pencil and hand it to her. Scribbles happily takes it in her mouth, eraser gently between her teeth. She happily draws around the paper as Gem watches with an amazed smile. I close my eyes before something gets thrown at me. My eyes shoot open.

It was a pencil that Gem had thrown.

“What?” I complain.

“Get over here,” She says.

“I have a cat on me,” I mumble.

“Oh Circle,” Scar calls.

Circle perks up and looks over to him. A small treat was in Scar’s hand. Before Circle can even go for it, Scribbles bolts over and steals it.

“Jeez!” Scar shouts.

“What?” Jimmy asks, looking over.

“Scribbles stole the treat from his hand,” I laugh.

Circle meows at her, an obvious complaint. I giggle and run my hand over his head.

“I’ll give you one,” Scar cries out.

Scar scrambles up, another treat in hand. He gives it to the flammable cat. Circle munches it up, purring.

“You’re so cute,” Scar awes.

“Who are you talking to? Me or the cat?” I ask with a laugh.

Scar flushes, “Circle!”

“You blushing Scar?” Skizz asks.

“Shut up,” Scar complains.

Scribbles meows, of what I’ve learned, her laugh. Scar sits where he was a couple seconds ago and pouts. I go back to closing my eyes. The heat Circle gives up making it nice.

I wake up to muttering and then a shout. My eyes shoot open. Circle was on my chest batting at Jimmy. His hisses sparking flame.

“Calm down,” I mutter with a yawn.

Circle, with his hackles still raised, looking to me.

“Did they disturb your sleep, or try to disturb your pillow?” I ask.

Circle meows an agreement.

“We’re trying to prank him,” Skizz whines.

Circle hisses. I run a hand over his fur, calming him down.

“He likes his sleep,” I laugh.

Scribbles meows, leaping up to join her brother.

“You come to join the warmth?” I ask.

“Fine, I’ll leave you alone,” Jimmy huffs.

“Stop pouting because the cats are who they are,” I giggle.

I close my eyes again to get rest before a crazy night.

~~~
“Welcome to Maple Lodge!” Impulse shouts.
A campsite, a ghost haunting a campsite.
“This poor ghost,” Gem cries out.
“My thoughts exactly,” I agree.
Jimmy and Scar laugh.
“Well, let’s get set up,” Skizz commands.
I grab my torch and attached it to my belt, grabbing my spirit box and parabocbacle.
“I’m heading in,” I announce.
I enter the building, or uh, camp ground. Scribbles was by my side.
“Wait for me! I have thermo!” Skizz shouts.
“Then keep up,” I laugh.
I lift the headphones to my head and turn it on. Most sound was blocked out.
“I’m gonna get the breaker. Notes say it in the restroom area,” Impulse’s huffed voice says.
I nod and walk around, listening around.
“Race you to the cabin!” Jimmy shouts.
“Not fair, head start!” Gem yells.
“Not a note yet,” I mumble.
I wander around as others do the same, everyone around. I didn’t hear a thing for a while until I got near a weird path. A barely audible thump of something. I perk up and look at Scribbles.
“Not in the cabin,” I hear Jimmy mumble.
I walk over to the two.
“I heard something get thrown over here,” I inform the two.
“Your cat is making a summoning circle,” Gem informs me.
I shrug, “He does that.”
Jimmy holds the camera up, looking over the pier.
“I can see my breathe,” He mumbles.
“Place,” Gem and I say in sync.
I walk over to the pier, looking around. Gem sets up a tripod and get the camera ready as Jimmy tells the others over the radio.
Nice to know. Found the bone! ” Impulse responds.
Any cursed object? ” Scar asks.
I call through. “Circle is making a pentagram.”
“The thermo is here!” Skizz shouts.
I nod, turning off the paraboccoable.
“Feel free to look around,” I say.
“We have no orbs,” Gem informs.
“So none of the orbie bois or mimic.” Skizz writes down.
“I haven’t heard anything through the parabocable,” I inform.
“We’re here!” Scar yells, Impulse following him.
Impulse gets a book and spreads it out. Scar places around motion sensors.
“Did anyone bring salt?” I ask.
Multiple no’s and shakes of heads.
“I can pick one up while I go over for sound sensors,” Scar glees.
“Sure,” I sigh.
“I’ll come with ya,” Impulse mutters.
The two head off as I shoo the others away. “Imma do spirit box.”
“Go ahead,” Gem agrees.
I grab my spirit box and turn it on. The normal sound I was familiar with, hisses.
“Where are you?”
Nothing.
“Are you here?”
Nothin’.
“Do you speak French?”
Nothing.
“Où êtes-vous?”
I’m here…”
“Spirit box!” I announce to all.
“Could still be mimic,” Jimmy grumbles.
Skizz walks around, thermometer in hand. Gem sets up a D.O.T.S. projector and Jimmy plays with the glow stick. I roll my eyes joyfully. The other two arrive. Impulse spreads salt out, in many different places. Scar continues being Scar. I walk over the the dock and take a seat.
“So Spirit, Wraith, Twins, Polti, Phantom, Moroi, or Deo,” I mumble.
Scribbles meows, joining my side. I look to her and quickly notice the deep grey marks along her fur.
“Writing!” I holler.
“What?” Impulse asks, looking over.
I stand up and pick her up and walk over to the others.
“Ghost Writing along her fur,” I inform.
“Down to Spirit, Moroi, Polti, or Deo.” Gem writes down.
“Cross of Freezing,” Skizz mumbles.
Something immediately gets thrown. Circle, who was walking over, jumps back as hisses.
“Scribbles sit, I need a photo,” Impulse whines.
“Jimmy, salt,” Skizz commands.
Impulse rushes around, taking many photos.
“Footprint,” Jimmy informs.
“We’ve gotta Polti!” Scar sing-songs.
“Let’s go !” Jimmy panics.
“No, let’s get tasks and photos done,” I say.
I hear Jimmy grumbling under his breath.
“Three more photos,” Impulse tells.
“Someone go check tasks,” Gem says.
“I’ll go,” I agree.
I run off to the front, smiling.
Capture photo of ghost, prevent with cruci, and average below 25%. Our average was 49%. I grab a cruci and incense and head off.
When I get back, I inform the others.
“Got it,” Impulse agrees.
“We are in zone for hunt,” He says.
“Perfect,” Skizz celebrates.
I go back to sitting by the dock. It was calming for how a ghost was off wondering. A small mew for my attention. I look to the bushes near the water. There was a calico cat, paws slightly muddy.
“Hello,” I mumble.
Circle walks over and meows to her. She bounds over, tail flicking.
“Another Phasmo Cat?” I ask.
She meows, taking a seat by me.
“Well, who would you be?” I ask.
Circle spins around.
“Here?” I ask.
He nods.
“Maple Lodge?”
A nod from her.
“Well Maple, nice to know you,” I glee.
She meows and climbs on my lap. I run my hand down her fur, the medium fur length with fluffiness. As I looked over her, getting to know her, two meows get my attention. I look over to them. A very unique cat, a bob tail and antlers. The other matching in with the night, but visible with white specs.
“Wha’?” I mumble.
The unique cat hops over. The other one’s black eyes snap white. I jumped a bit. Eyes’ snapping like a camera.
“Photo Camera?”
He trots over, rubbing my side. I look to the other. She reminded me of the trophy Phasmophobia Co. gave out during last Easter.
“Jackalope?”
She meows.
“Welcome new wonders.”
“Grian! We’re gonna try to get a hunt!” Gem shouts.
“Ghost photo?” I ask.
Impulse shakes his head. I look to Camera with a small smile and nod. I pick up Maple and set her aside. I head over to the others, Circle by my side.
“Well, let's get this done.” I smile.
Seeing the cruci was glowing orange, we only had two objectives left.
“Scar, come in,” Jimmy says over the radio.
Here! ” Scar replies.
“Sanity?” Impulse asks.
36%, ” Scar replies.
“We’re close,” Impulse laughs.
I nod and hide behind some boxes with Skizz. Gem and Jimmy found somewhere else. Impulse was closest, not really hiding, camera ready.
With a bit of a wait, he walks around. Heavy thumps but not fast. Impulse tries to take a photo, but the Polti somehow throws it away. I hear Skizz grumble angry. But Photo, who gets his idea, runs forth and eyes flash for a photo. The ghost continues around before going off. I look at him.
“What is that?” Jimmy asks.
I hurry over to Photo. He meows.
Nice getting the ghost photo! ” Scar celebrates.
“What?” Gem mumbles.
“All to the van!” Impulse commands.
We walk off to the van.
“So the photo wasn’t taken by you?” Scar asks.
“Nope,” Impulse mutters.
Swinging in the hammock with Circle and Scribbles. I watch as Photo and Jackalope slowly crawl in.
“How did that happen?” Jimmy growls.
“Maybe the camera got clicked when tossed?” Gem offers.
“No, the photo looks perfect,” Skizz informs.
“Did you guys see the snap of light?” I ask.
“Yeah, but that was confusing,” Gem agrees.
Photo walks over to the desk and jumps up, meowing. Multiple screams of fear.
“Welcome Photo to the group! And Jackalope!” I shout.
Scar looks over to the other new cat then back to Photo.
“Mumbo’s gonna be disappointed,” He said with a laugh.
I laugh, agreeing. Jackalope bounds over, a hop in her walk.
“Is she like the trophy they made a while ago?” Gem asks, crouching down to her.
“I think so, from last Easter,” I agree.
It was silent for a little until…
“Anyone wanna go camping?” Impulse asks, smiling.
“If you have a death wish,” Jimmy whines.
I roll my eyes.
“I’ll go feed Stan,” Skizz says.
I nod and pick up Scribbles. She purrs and bats at Jackalope. Jac jumps back at her sister and bats back. Scribbles jumps out of my hands and plays with her new sister. They run around, getting Photo, Circle, and Maple to join.
“Be careful,” I warn calmly.
Circle, as the most responsible one, meows back.
“I’m gonna get ready,” Gem announces before heading off.
I give a small yawn and lean back. As the night routine like last time, one by one, we get ready and sleep in the van. I slowly rock my hammock, multiple cats around. Soft snores around. It was comfortable and peaceful.
Darkness was around and everything happening was forgotten.
Chapter Text
Polti sat next to my head, Spirit and Mare sat next to their sister. They knew what day it was. I move to sit up in bed, as others crowd around, Mare leaps down and meows up at me. I stand up and head to get changed. With my short sleeve shirt with some old concert shirt and baggy pants. My normal almost hiking-like shoes I quickly tie and exit.
“Come on, all to the cafe!” I announce.
I start downstairs.
“What are you doing?” Scar asks as I start leaving.
“Taken them to the cafe,” I informed him.
“Why?” He mumbles.
“Well, it’s been 15 years since I found Mare, Polti, and Spirit. The start of everything,” I tell him.
“Can I come with?” Scar asks with a smile.
“Bring Jellie too. And call Mumbo,” I agree.
“Mumbo! We heading to the cafe!” Scar hollers while picking up Jellie.
“What?” Mumbo asks while walking up.
“To the cafe for 15 years since this began,” I informed him.
“Well, let’s go.” Mumbo smiles.
I push open the door and everyone runs off. We head off to the cafe, Mumbo explaining his redstone. We both looked confused.
“Wha’?” Scar mumbles after Mumbo explains something.
“Jeez, no clue what you said,” I huff.
Mumbo sighs. “It’s not too hard.”
I grumble about how stupid redstone is while pushing open the cafe door.
“Hello!” Lizzie gleefully shouts.
“Hey,” Mumbo says.
Scar waves quickly.
“Hi Lizzie, here to celebrate 15 years since this mess,” I dully say.
“Well, come on in,” Lizzie happily says. “I’ll go shout at Joel to get over here.”
I laugh and start moving some chairs in.
“I’ma get the rest of GIGGSS, with an extra g and s,” Scar says.
“I’ll take Jels,” Mumbo informs him, holding his hands out.
Scar hands off Jellie and runs off.
“Well, let’s get tables pushed together,” Joel announces, walking in.
With cats around, I help push tables around, making a larger table, not by much though.
“We’re here!” Gem shouts while opening the door.
“Where’s Tim?” I ask.
“Off to get some others,” Impulse tells me.
“Well, needing more chairs,” Lizzie laughs, setting up the table.
A chair is slid over, Polti walking behind it. Rev hopped onto it. Salt purrs. 46 cats of mine around, Jellie joining them while playing with Jinn.
“Oh jeez!” Joel shouts, jumping back.
“Oh right, three new ones arrives the other day,” I laugh.
“Aww, what cuties,” Lizzie awes.
“Maple, Photo, and Jackalope,” I list.
“I can see that in you darling,” Lizzie says to Jac.
She meows at Lizzie, gleed.
“We’re here!” Jimmy shouts, dragging in some.
Bdubs was quick to follow, dragging Etho along. Tango laughed while following. Ren and Katherine, Xisuma and Iskall, Oli and someone I haven't met yet. And almost immediately, Rev leaps at the new person.
He screams as the others laugh.
“Rev, come here,” I call.
Rev mrowls loudly. Iskall picks up Rev by the scruff and hands him off to me. I hold him and give a silent scold. I look into his red eyes. After a couple seconds, he gives a submissive meow.
“Hello Grian, I’m Joey,” He introduces.
“Nice to meet you. You’ve already met Revenant,” I laugh.
“So, what's this for?” He asks.
“15 years with this-” -I spread my arms, one holding Rev, to the cats, “-abundance of chaos.”
“Come on, brunch!” Lizzie glees.
We take seats around as Lizzie sets out plates of different foods. Whip cream in small dishes for all the cats. With a lot of laughs and stories. Cats causing mayhem. Somewhere I belonged.
~~~

Oli, Joey, and I walk around the town, talking about nonsense. Cats followed, which meant Oli happily held Music.

“Do you think they’re more out there?” Joey asks.

“Most likely,” I agree.

“Well, they are wonderful,” Oli joys.

He held Music up. She meowed back at him, seeming happy. I laugh. I knew these two had a connection. Just like Rev and Joel or Scribbles and Lizzie, even Me and Voo.

“I sure want more,” I laugh.

We continued walking around, wandering by the forest edge, going to the farm, everywhere. I did learn a lot about the town. A strong history with ghosts that gathered the attention of Phasmophobia Co.

But everything of this joyous day went down.

As we walked around, someone calls out my name.

“Grian?”

I freeze, remembering that voice from years ago. I turn around as Voo runs in front of me, hissing. Twenty others joins him.

There stood a semi older couple. She had long brown hair that was neatly tied up. Her deep blue eyes help an emotion I couldn’t decipher. He had more blondish hair and grey eyes. Looking surprised.

“Mum? Dad?” I mumble.

And silence…besides the hissing. Mum stepped forward a bit. Demon leaps forward, very angry. She flitches, my dad pulling her back.

“I see you are still collecting cats,” He angrily says.

“We’ve missed you,” Mum says.

I clench my fists. She walks forward, arms out for a hug.

“You’ve missed me? Missed me!” I snap.

She flinches. A hand is set on my shoulder. I look at Oli. With an apologetic smile, I shrug off his hand and look back to my forgotten parents.

“You forced me to choose! To choose! And when I made my decision! You. Never. Contracted. Me.”

“A house with 21 cats was crazy,” Dad shrugs.

“You never cared for my connections with them, or even them!” I shout, getting more attention from others.

“Honey, you don’t have this said connection,” Mum “sweetly” says.

I feel my nails pricking into my skin.

“So somehow ghost cats chose me and kept finding me! They know how I am! And you are saying, I don’t have a connection!” I holler.

“Grian, calm down,” Oli whispers.

“They aren’t what you say “Phasmophobia Co. cats”,” Dad sasses.

Before I could do something, Rev pounced forward. His teeth bared and somehow, a lit candle in his mouth. Circle and Firelight get the idea. Circle catches a flame and Firelight uses the candle to light her tail.

“And they are! And if this doesn’t prove it! What the -mrow- will!” I ask.

Dark red eyes and red feilding my vision.

“We are your parents!” Dad hisses.

“Not really,” I growl.

“We raised you!” Mum shouts.

“Again, not really! The cats did more than you two!” I fight.

My dad steps up, face laced with anger. His fist was raised. Oli pulls me away, hand protectively in front of me.

“What’s going on here?” Xisuma strictly asks.

My anger was still full, teeth clenched and nails still pricking into skin. My “parents” were shouting at me. Xisuma was trying to figure out what was happening.

“Who are you to ask what is happening? None of you need to know,” Dad shouts at X.

“Leave my friends alone,” I growl.

He looks to me. “You shut up! You left us! For cats!”

“You made me choose!” I growl.

“We are your parents!” Mum huffs.

I try to escape from Oli’s grip, but he keeps me close.

“I’ve said already! You! Are! Not!” I shout.

Voo climbs up my back to my shoulder. He purrs up to me, trying to calm me down. But unlike normal, it didn’t work. My vision darkens with red.

“Come with me,” Oli pleads.

I feel him drag me. I don’t let my feet move, but he succeeds.

He gets me into a random building. I was pushed into a seat.

“Grian, please calm down,” Oli whispers.

I clench the chair legs.

“Is he okay?” Someone asks.

“Get a glass of water please,” Oli says.

Footsteps head away. Nothing was going well, anger causing pain, red around my vision, and thoughts running at thousands of miles per second. Oli was talking to me. Not a word was heard.

Mrouw .”

A paw was on my leg. I look down. In my red vision, there was Voo. His button eyes look at me. He notices and leaps onto my lap. I unclench a hand and run it over his fur.

“Voo?” I sob.

Tears fell down my cheeks. He licks a tear up and sits down.

“G?” Oli asks.

I look over to him.

“Why did they have to be here?” I whine.

Oli stays silent.

“Well Grian, no one knows,” The other person says.

I look over. Short hair brunette with flowers in her hair. Kind brown eyes.

“I’m Stress, nice to meet you luv,” She introduces.

“Grian, this is Voo,” I mumble.

Stress smiles, letting Voo smell her hand.

~~~
I don’t know how long it was until Xisuma walked in, eyes quickly catching me.
“G?” He mumbles.
I look up to him and nod.
“Yeah?”
“Who were they?” He asks, sitting across from me.
The still-in-making place was pretty empty. The awkwardness filled the emptiness.
“My parents,” I grumble.
Xisuma hummed, looking at me.
“They made me choose between living with them but getting rid of my cats or leave with my cats. I had a strong connection with my cats and so I left. They had never tried to contact me. I knew from the beginning of getting the cats they didn’t like it. They never believed my connection. After we left, I pushed it away from them being my parents. The cats also held a strong hatred for them,” I explained.
Voo meows, tail flicking.
“Well, don’t worry Gri. I told them that they may not be here anymore, or try to talk with you ever again, or something bad will happen,” Xisuma fiercely said.
I give him a small smile.
“Thanks,” I mumble.
“Well, you are part of our town. I know you haven't lived here that long but everyone you’ve met so far seems to enjoy your presence. Not a care about your cats and each one's personality,” He informs.
“Well maybe Mumbo because I keep getting more cats,” I joke.
Xisuma laughs, shaking his head.
~~~

Voo sat on my head, giving me a strong comfort. He was still here, the others were here, all around. Though in the woods, the cats often headed into the woods, but today, they were all near.

I was wondering if I made the right choice. It was hard to tell. My parents hated me now. But-I look over the cats-my cats are amazing.

Salt was harassing Wraith, Banshee and Music singing, Onryo climbing over many cats who were playing.

“Onr, are you being rotten?” I laugh.

He looks over at me, meowing. I giggle. Then Orbs launches at him. They wrestle around.

“Well cats, what are we gonna do?” I ask them all.

An abundance of meows. “ Hike !” Box votes. From how no cat attacks their brother, I guess a hike it is.

“Well, let's not get lost,” I laugh.

With a quick trip back to the house to get packed up for a quick hike, get a map from Mumbo and head off.

The walk was nice, watching all cats run around. Happily looking around, playing, and some out of my view.

“If I find another cat, the woods just love me,” I tell Banshee.

She meows back. I look at the map and try to find an end point.

“Cats! End point?” I ask.

I set the map down. All of them run over and look over the map. After a bit, they agree on a nearby lake.

“To a lake we head.”

The walk isn’t long until we get to the lake. All the beauty of the nature felt calm.

I found a log to sit on right by the water. I splash water up at the cats. Deo bounces back with an angry hiss. I giggle.

“We’ll head back in a little bit,” I mutter to the cats.

I watch them run around, Maple and Ouija being brave to run in the water. Pure peace with my cats, every cat around. The sun with warmth. A small chill overtakes. I look over and see a new cat. White and light blue. A black and a weird white see-through cat behind the other.

“Hello,” I mumble.

As I said that, a snowball flew across. The cat closer to me, her eyes were glowing blue. I think of the newest winter trophy.

“I wanna say Snowball?” I question.

She meows and throws one to Freezing. The other one was hard to tell. Her slightly cupped ears, unique fur. The dim of noise around.

“That one hard to pronounce name, Parabocible,” I mumble.

Her head cocks.

“Para.”

A soft meow.

Welp, 48 cats now. More chaos.

Maybe I should run a Phasmo Cat Zoo.

~~~
The walk back was a bit of a rush. As we spent a while longer at the lake, the sunlight was on a timer. With a jog and the cats running.
“Welp, the next ghost to find is gonna be me,” I laugh.
Voo huffs out a meow.
“Oh come on, I’ll haunt all the mean people,” I grumble.
Demon and Rev meow with agreement. Banshee huffs. I giggle.
As we rush to the town, night dims the forest, keeping the path hidden before my eyes.
“UV, help me see the map!” I call out.
The purple cat trots over, climbing up my clothing til perching on my shoulder, glowing. I skim over the map.
“Well, the quickest way back would be running through the trees,” I mumble.
A thumping hiss, “ No..
I look to the trees, the orange skyline quickly sinking.
“Daylight is bare, it’s the best choice,” I argue.
If there were any passers-by, it would look weird. A guy arguing with an abundance of cats. But it was needed.
I stomp and step over cats, heading to the trees. Voo runs out in front of me, hissing.
“It’ll take hours before we get to town with the path, this is quicker,” I growl.
He doesn’t move from his place. I glare down.
Then his tail flicks as he curls his back. Before I could ask a word, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. Something was in the woods.
Turning around, the dipped head of some weird creature. The dog-wolf creature growled deeply. The fur having a hint of silver translucent. Eyes that hazed with red.
I take a step back, hands up before me. Demon growled back, body aflame. With a swift look to Banshee, she gets the idea.
Within a second, the screech blares around. The yokai creature dipped down, paws over ears. I dash around, down the hill. Jumping over logs and ducking under branches. Cats running after me.
Another, heavier, pound chased us. The creature.
Yanking my book out of my bag, flipping through pages. Scanning over the pages, Okuri-inu.
To my side, Voo. “We need to get to the forest edge.”
His button eyes look up to me. Though emotions were never shown in them, I could tell he was concerned.
“Trust me Voo.”
A small dip in his head and looked before us.
The map was hard to read, though we were close to the village. 24 metres or so.
Pounding heart bore in my ears, breath shallow. Legs aching, eyes focused ahead.
Within 10 metres, a small shine of light. Glowing yellow of a lantern. 14 metres to go.
Trees flew past us. A small stream splashing up as we ran past. Bag bumping my side over and over again. UV glowed before us, trying to help the path show.
Forest edge right before, four metres, three, two, one. I stop by the edge, cats dashing past.
With one step forward, I call out, “Goodbye.”
The growling stops. Spinning around, we watch the Okuri-inu dip its head and turn away, dashing up the hill.
Stood there for a couple seconds, catching our breaths and calming down. I turn to Voo.
“Maybe that wouldn't have happened if you let me take the path before.”
He meows angrily.
~~~

Pushing the door open, I step in. Cats scurrying in before the door closed.

“Where were you? It's late?” Mumbo asks like a worried mother.

“We just went to a near lake. Some issues as we headed back.”

Scar and Mumbo look at one another, confused. I plop down on my normal chair for dinner.

“Uh, nuh. Go wash your hands,” Mumbo scolds.

Groaning as I stood up again, legs painfully arguing.

As I washed my hands in the bathroom, a shout was heard.

“Why are there two more cats?” Mumbo hollers. “Grian!”

I freeze. Looking to the bathroom window.

Jumping down from the window, the bathroom door slammed open with a loud thud.

“Get back here!”

I run over to my bedroom window, climbing up the side of the building.

“Nope, not doing this,” I grumble.

“Grian! Get down from there!”

I look to the woods. “I’d rather be with the Okuri-inu!”

“The what?” Impulse’s voice pierces through.

With a strong want to not deal with this, I dash to the forest, a frustrated Mumbo and questioning Impulse chasing me.

~~~
Scar looks down to the cats. “Well, isn’t it lovely to meet you two.”
Scar looks around, humming to himself.
“Dinner is all mine!”
Notes:
Mumbo annoyed about more cats, Grian runs, Impulse confused, Scar happy he gets food
Chapter Text
Impulse was grumbling out something as he walked in. But a smile was kept as he passed each cat.
“What’s goin’ on homie buddy?” Skizz asks.
Impulse groaned into his hands as he flopped down onto the couch. “The Red Moon is tonight. And two people called in for help.”
Gem whined out, “Don’t say we’ve got to do both before sun fall!”
“Blame Jimmy for this,” Impulse cried out.
Whining out as I stuffed my face into Jackalope’s fur. Getting a tiny meow in return.
Gem stood up, holding Banshee in her arms before stomping off. “I’ll go fetch Jimmy!” With a following meow from Banshee.
“Grian, come help me set up the van,” Impulse commands.
Nodding while setting Jackie to the side before following Impulse outside. He looks at me, before stopping in his tracks.
“Your eyes are keeping red,” He mumbled.
“What?”
“Go look in a mirror G,” Impulse mumbled, keeping his gaze on my eyes.
Quickly walking off and back inside. Spotting Mirror and crouching down to her. She seemed to know my intentions and reelected my reflection midair. And yep, there I was staring back at myself with blood red eyes with a slight glow.
“Thanks girl,” I whispered as I stood. Walking off back to Impulse.
~~~

The first house we had arrived at. With a broken window that had been taped up, flickering lights, and just a feeling of bad.

“Well, let’s get ready,” Skizz announces as he opens the back of the van.

Jackie and Maple both immediately leave the van. Wraith shouting out to her siblings.

“Grafton Farmhouse. Keys under mat,” Impulse tells us.

Grabbing a flashlight, lighter in my hoodie pocket, spirit box, and a parapokibal.

“Let’s go,” I tell Impulse, the only other one ready.

Impulse nods, leading me to the front door. He grabbed the key from under the mat. Unlocking the door as a call over the radio.

“Breaker in Master Bedroom closet,” Jimmy calls.

“Thanks Tim,” I rang back.

Two flashlights shining down the dark house. Shining on an excited Maple.

“Let the hunt begin,” Impulse happily smirks.

“You are a crazy man,” I laugh.

Impulse joined in on the laugh, leading the way to the breaker.

“Breaker’s on,” I call through as Impulse switches it on.

Thanks! ” Skizz sing-songs.

I turn on the mic and listen around while Jimmy and Gem searched for the ghost’s room. Maple led me around, glancing back at me from time to time to make sure I was following.

Jackie ran past us with paws that thump as she chased Jimmy.

Scar sounded joyful over the radio, “ Ghost room is the workshop! ”

I nod to myself and look at Maple. “Come on girl.”

We walk over to the workshop, where Scar and Impulse are.

Impulse was scanning over the room with the EMF reader. While Scar was…what is his addiction with sound and motion sensors. This man needs help.

“I’ve got the camera,” Gem mumbles while walking in.

I smile, “Perfect. Has anyone seen Wraith?”

Multiple ‘no’s. I sigh, looking down to Maple.

Jimmy walked in, camera and bone in hand. “I found and took a picture of the bone.”

“Thanks,” Impulse smiles. As the door is shoved, Impulse runs over. The colour goes to red and a bitter beep.

“EMF 5,” Impulse says, being echoed by our radios.

I grab my pocket ghost journal and mark it down.

“I’m heading back to the van,” Gem mumbles before heading off.

I sigh, flopping down onto the ground.

“We need to hurry to get to the shore next.”

“This is your fault Tim,” I growl.

“Uh, I’m sorry I forgot,” Jimmy mumbles.

Impulse is quick to retort, “Forgot what!”

“Days.”

I faceplant, grumbling out how stupid he is.

“We’ll need to hurry still,” Scar tells us.

I wandered off to look around, before noticing Wraith outside. I quickly headed out, calling out her name. Her head shot over, meowing out to me.

“Whatcha doing out here Wraithie?” I ask as I trot over to her.

Then I notice the bright eyes looking up. Jumping back a tad, I look down to the cat.

Crouching down with a slight mumble, “Hello.”

A small meow in response. Picking her up, I notice the woody brown furs.

“Since you are here, I’m betting Grafton?”

She gives a happy sounding meow

“Is anyone else here?” I ask the two.

Wraith was quick to shake her head.

“Well, let’s get back to this haunt,” I announce.

Walking over to where Maple sat by the open door, Wraith running up with Grafton in my arms.

As entering, Gem was announcing orbs.

“Well, it’s between Raiju and Obake,” Skizz informs us.

Scar sighs, “Almost done!”

I laugh, “Yep.”

I see Gem and Skizz jump where they stood, Scar’s hand on his heart, Impulse screaming a bit, and Jimmy stumbling back.

“Grian!” Impulse shouts, playfulness mixed into his tone.

I hold up Grafton, “Guess what! Another cat.”

Scar giggles, “Mumbo’s gonna ground you.”

“Yeah, like the other day,” Impulse adds on.

I cringe at the memory. “Yeah, well. They love me.”

The others start laughing, I give a fond smile. Before Jimmy screamed.

“We’ve got DOTS, let’s get going. It’s a Raiju!” Impulse announces while laughing.

“Come on cats next place!” I giggle.

~~~
This ride was longer, but across the rocky shore was the ocean, with waves splashing onto the rocks.
“Where are we headed?” Skizz asks, leaning out the window near the front where Impulse was sitting.
“Point Hope,” Impulse announces.
The sun was starting to set.
“Haunted lighthouse, geez,” Scar laughs.
“Don’t worry, we have four cats,” I giggle.
Jimmy laughs.
Skizz pipes up, “Four cats, six of us. We got this.”
We pulled up to the lighthouse, all of us trying to get the night done so we could head to the Blood Moon Festival.
Walking up with Gem and Grafton.
“I’m betting you find another cat,” Gem laughs.
Giggling out a response, “Yeah, probably.”
We entered the place, quick to flick on the lights.
“Where are ya ghost! We need to get going!” Gem shouts.
Turning on the thermometer, I scan each room on the first floor, before following Gem up the stairs.
“Ghostie!” I called out.
“I wanna go to the festival!” Gem pouts loudly.
Scanning each floor with the thermo, until we were at the lantern room. We stepped into the cold night air.
“It’s pretty,” Gem whispers.
“It is.”
The soft blow of wind as we stood there, watching the waves crash into the rocks below.
Looking over to Gem with a glint in my eyes. “Should we sometime escape out ‘ere?”
Gem was quick to smile, “Yeah!”
We took it in again before walking down, until we arrived to the first floor once more.
“It’s in here,” Jimmy stated.
“Yeah, we checked the rest of the building,” Gem huffed.
Tossing the thermo at Jimmy, who scrambled to grab it.
I call out to everyone, “Everyone out! Spirit box time!”
After all left, I stood there in the dark, asking out to the ghost.
“Where are you?”
Nothing. And it continued that way. But with one question, after the door shifted.
“EMF 5,” I tell them over the radio.
Impulse walks in, setting down the book.
“Ghost! Please hurry! We have a festival to go to!” Skizz shouts.
I sigh, flopping down on a chair.
“Did you two see a bone?” Impulse asked.
“Nope,” Gem and I say in sync.
Impulse groans, heading up the metal stairs.
With Skizz and Gem heading to the van, Jimmy has followed Impulse.
“Hey G, will you be fine if I go join Imp and Jimmy?” Scar asked.
I look over to him. “Yeah, I’ll keep an eye on everything.”
Scar gave me a smile before he ran up to catch up with the other two upstairs.
Sitting up and looking over. I grab the UV.
“Are you here?” I ask, trying to get it to move something.
Continuing to wander the room, scanning with the purple light. When I hear the door creak, I dash over, looking for any green hand prints.
Along the door, a smudged handprint in neon green.
Over the radio, I call out, “We’ve got UV.”
Nice! ” Gem cheers.
Setting down the glow stick and looking around once more.
A small mew gained my attention. Turning around to where Jackie was with another cat by her side. A tiny pirate hat on top of the cat’s head.
“Oh, hi,” I mumbled.
The cat gave a rough meow back.
I shrug, “Welp another cat I guess. Hope?”
She nods.
“Welcome to the chaos, Hope,” I sigh.
She was quick to wander over to the notebook, pawing at him.
Around the book were random scribbles.
“And writing!” I sing-song over.
Impulse walked down, trotting over. “Let’s pack up and leave.”
We were cleaning up, before heading off to the van. With my five cats following me.
“Uhh, G?” Gem humms.
“Yes?” I ask, holding Hope and Grafton with Jackie, Wraith, and Maple around my feet.
“Whatcha got there?” Impulse asks with a laugh.
“Cats.”
Scar laughs, “We see that.”
“This is Hope,” I announce.
“Well, let's get home for the festival!” Skizz cheers.
~~~

Mumbo, and the rest of the cats, were waiting for Scar and I when we arrived.

“You left with three, came back with five!” Mumbo groans.

“Hope and Grafton,” I simply say.

Gem is quick to drag me over to the main street. People were walking around, decorations all about.

“Lizzie always makes the best Blood Moon sweets! Sometimes Scar and I help her,” she rants.

When we entered, both Lizzie and Joel (who seemed forced) were dressed in similar outfits. Both match the unofficial holiday.

“Welcome back you two!” Joel cheers.

I laugh, “Thanks!”

I was quickly dragged over, where Lizzie handed us each a cake pop.

“Has Scribbles helped you?” I asked before taking a bite. “Oh my- this is so good!”

Lizzie giggles, “Thank you. But to answer your question, yes she did.”

“Come on, we gotta get in the Blood Moon outfits!” Gem cheered.

I cock my head, confused. Gem just sighs and drags me off, calling out to Lizzie that we’ll be back.

At Gem’s, the deer hybrid dragged me up past Pearl’s, Impulse’s rooms and across from Skizz’s.

I was sitting on her bed, watching her shuffle through some clothes.

“Anything you’d prefer?” She asks, showing me both an black shirt with dark red and blood red accents around and a red skirt with blank stary prints and a moon.

I smile, “Fashion show?”

Gem laughs, nodding.

Turns out Gem had many clothes to go along with the Blood Moon.

After a semi-short fashion show, I was dressed in a black shirt with a printed crescent moon on the front. A red jacket over it with many different patches that related to the holiday. Black leggings under the skirt she had shown me. A pair of shoes that surprisingly fit me that were black accented by red.

Gem was in a very pretty red dress with a black corset and jacket. Small (fake) flower crown with black flowers and a small red crescent moon in the front.

“Well G, we look good! Let’s head off,” Gem said while giving a small pose.

Streets were filled a bit more as it was almost time. A large group of some people I recognise and others I don’t, but Gem seems to know them.

We walked up to the group, Lizzie smiling as she noticed us. My cats are all around the area.

“Looking good you two,” Bdubs compliments.

As time ticked down to the parade, I was able to meet the others who lived in the town. Everyone was really nice and happy to meet me.

When the clock hit twelve, a song started to play and the parade had started. I watched in awe at the perfection each thing had. All going along with the colour theme of the holiday. The full red moon shining down on us with a soft glow on the clouds around it.

A small tug on my shoe got my attention. Voo’s button eyes were looking up to me, signalling about something.

“I’ll be back,” I tell some others before following him down the street side.

We wandered to the forest edge, where we could still hear the music play in the distance. Onryo and Music were both there, on a log. Another cat was in the middle of the two, all three looking at me.

Deep red fur mixed with black, a soft airy fog around the fur. Chain floating around, all connected to the cat’s body.

“Well, hello there beautiful,” I tell the new cat.

She stands up, walking down from the log and over to be before me. I crouch down to the cat, hand out before me. She sniffs it, a chain wrapping around my wrist.

A voice spoke up through my head, a light feminine voice. “ Hello there. I am Blood Moon .”

I look to Blood Moon, realising the magic this cat had.

“Hello to you too Moon. Grian’s mine. If I have anything more to say, it’s: Welcome to the family.”

~~~
Back in the town, with the parade done and less people around.
Tango was standing outside the cafe, seeming to be waiting for something.
“Hey Tango, what are you out here for?” I ask the blaze.
He looks over, a smile growing on his face. “Well G, actually you.”
Tango brings me inside, where everyone who lived here was. Lizzie’s holiday snacks being passed around.
“G’s back!” Tango announces.
Scar immediately looked over with a smile.
“Where did you go?” Doc asks.
I hold up Moon.
“New cat?” I mumble with an innocent smile.
Mumbo facepalmed.
Chapter Text
It was a foggy day as I woke, mumbling out to my cats as I went to get ready for the day.
Exiting the bathroom, I just noticed the breeze. My window was open, but I didn’t open it.
“Which of ya cats opened the window?” I sigh, knowing it was somehow possible.
Closing the window, turning to fill up their bowls. Each cat rushed forth for the food. Until I froze.
“I haven't met you.”
A creamy cat, with slightly muddied fur, looked up to me and meowed.
“Umm, hello there.”
Setting my hand out, the cat sniffs my hand. Butting into my hand with a joyed purr.
I humm, “Who are you?”
Scribbles trots over, written along her back was ‘Tanglewood’. The first house we went to.
“So you are Tanglewood. I’m sorry we left without you.” He meowed up at me, almost as if saying ‘it’s fine’.
After finishing up with the cats, I head down. Skipping a couple steps and jumping onto the ground. A smell drafted through the house, drawing me to the kitchen.
“What’s being made?” I ask.
Scar turned around with a smile, leg braces keeping him up. “Crepes!” It took a couple seconds. “What would you like on yours?”
I perk up, thinking. “Chocolate syrup, whip cream, and bloobens.”
Mumbo and Scar both looked over to me. Confused. “Bloobens?”
I smirk, “Yep, bloobens.”
Scar looked over the ingredients. I point to the container of blueberries.
“Blueberries?” Mumbo grumbles.
“Bloobens!” I called out in the midst of laughter.
Scar sighed, grumbling quietly. I kept the evil smirk lining my face.
It wasn’t long before he brought the plate for both me and Mumbo before us.
“Thanks,” I chirp out.
Mumbo mumbles out, “Thank you.”
Scar was quick to join with his own plate.
~~~

Before Mumbo could notice a new cat, I was already out of the house, proceeding into the fog. It wasn’t like a blizzard, but still deep.

To anyone not used to it, it would be creepy as in the distance, I could hear Banshee “singing”. A loud screech flowing down the streets, waving pitch and echoey.

Entering GIGGS, looking around. Dim lights and soft footsteps.

“Mornin’ Gem.”

She jumps visibly, turning over to me. A hand over her heart. “Jeez, you scared me!”

I laughed, before she joined in. It took a bit before we calmed down.

But when we did, she looked to me, “How you feelin’ after last night?”

I groan, “Tired, aching for all that walking.”

“Yeah, I feel the same.”

Gem drags me over to the chill room. Blankets were sprawled along the couches that were shoved together. The TV was opened up to an unstarted movie. Gem already crawled into the make-shift nest. Understanding, I kicked off my shoes and also crawled in. Gem unpaused the movie as we curled into the blankets.

“We should get someone to get us some warm drinks,” I mumble.

Gem smirks, “Yes!”

I watched with amusement as Gem leaned over, trying to reach the phone without getting out of the nest. Almost tumbling over multiple times, Gem finally grabbed onto it. Dialing the number while still reaching out and pulled back, arm out for me to grab. We sat there, movie paused and it rang before…

“Yellow?”

“Skizz!” Gem chirped. “Can you do something for us?” Her voice was bitterly sweet.

Skizz sighed on the other side. “What is it?”

Gem smiled, dolling. “Can you get me and Grian some hot drinks?”

Another sigh. “What do you two want?”

“Hot chocolate?” I begged in a questioned tone.

“Ooh, and one for me!”

A small hum. “Yeah, yeah. I’m bringing Pearl along though.”

“Thanks!” We gleed in sync.

The long beep of the phone hung up. Gem leaned back, before giving up and dropping it onto the floor. We went back to the movie.

Thirty minutes into the movie, Pearl and Skizz’s voices rung through. But a third set of steps, one I knew as Impulse.

“Umm,” Pearl hummed.

“It’s a nest day.”

I nod, curled under some blankets and curled into Gem’s side.

“You two are lucky we even left the house when we heard that noise,” Skizz complained.

Gem turns to them, confused. “What noise?”

Before any of the three could respond, I knew what it was. “Oh, that’s just Banshee being crazy.”

Pearl handed us our drinks, kicking off her shoes. “Hold onto my drink.” With her handing me the drink. She climbed on in, quickly getting curled in. But from how we got so close to each other from last night, she pulled me close to her, away from Gem. She took her drink from my hands.

Impulse and Skizz were both quick to join, with Gem unpausing the movie.

Curled in the blankets with my friends.

A ring from the phone, that Impulse had picked up, spooked us all. Gem sighed, and being closest to it, reached over again, stretching to grab it. When she did reach it, she answered. We listened in silence, only Gem talking, while waiting.

She hung up, sighing while leaning back over. “Someone’s hoping on us hunting today.”

We simultaneously let out a groan, not enjoyed for what was to come on the foggy day.

“Well, I guess we’ll get the van ready,” Impulse mumbles.

Skizz bats back, “At this point we really do need a van.”

“We can talk with Xisuma about it later, right now, let’s get ready,” Pearl’s voice scolded the two.

I whine out, curling even more into the blankets. Gem shuffled out of the nest. Only I was left in the nest, clinging to the warm spots of where my friends once were.

A set of hands curled under me. “Nope, you are joining us,” Pearl commanded.

She set me on the ground, a grip keeping me as I almost fell.

In no time, the “van” was ready. All of us, including Pearl, were ready. With hammocks settled around, Impulse driving (like normal). Banshee was the only cat who had decided to join us.

Curled into the hammock, right by Pearl’s side (who again stole me from Gem) as I was in a very cuddly mood. Gem was in a hammock across from us, glaring at Pearl with Banshee in her arms. Skizz was just setting up a mini portable movie disc player for us.

As I started to doze off, a random movie started.

I was forced awake when Pearl shuffled around. Opening my eyes.

She jumped a bit when seeing my eyes. “I forgot your eyes change colour.”

I humm, closing them again. Curling against her side.

I was awakened again, this time, to the van door opening and Pearl shaking me awake.

“Ridgeview, come on, let’s head on in, get the ghost identified and the cats and go.”

I giggle tiredly, knowing the cats were part of the job at this point.

We entered the place, looking around into the darkness.

“Where is the breaker?” Pearl asks.

Skizz’s voice rings through, “In the garage.”

Impulse hummed a “thanks”. We entered the house and looked around. Impulse went to find the breaker while Pearl and I started searching for the ghost room.

Lights were able to be turned on. Temperature rose.

“Ghost in the kitchen,” Pearl calls over the radio.

Banshee ran over, paws skidding as she slid on in.

“What is it Ban?” I ask the cat.

She tugged at my shoe laces. So I followed her lead. Up the stairs and down the hall into a boys bedroom. Two cats sat on the bed, both looking at me and Banshee.

One was all white with silver accents, soft grey eyes. The other one was in the form of a skeleton cat, with moss and stained dirt around the bones.

“Well hello.”

A meow from the white cat.

“I’m guessing you are Ridgeview,” I mumble. She meowed. I look at the other cat. “And you are Bones?” A shallow nod.

Scooping up the cats, walking back down with Banshee jogging behind me. Setting them down as we get to the foyer, and walk into the kitchen.

“We have EMF 5,” Skizz announces.

Gem perks up, “And UV.”

I laugh. “Almost done I see.”

Pearl chuckles, leaning onto the wall. “And what were you doing?”

Ridge walks on in, Banshee by her side. “Cats.”

We continued trying to get the last evidence, dodging hunts. While waiting, Impulse was leaning on the counter. Bones walked in, hopping up and looking at him. Impulse looked over, before jumping out of his skin.

“Wha’!” He screams.

Gem, Skizz, and Pearl ran in, asking in a series of “what?” and “what happened?”

Impulse pointed to bones.

“That’s just Bones,” I say with a shrug.

Silence.

“That’s a skeleton.”

Gem was awestruck, walking over to her, hand out. Bones, while creepy, turned out to be a very cuddly cat, butting into the hand.

“You are just misunderstood,” Gem sighs.

Bones let out her first meow, a deep but hollow meow, sounding as if a meow under the dirt. I looked over to Banshee, who was walking in the DOTS machine, dots sticking to her fur. A human outline chased the cat.

“DOTS!” I announce.

The ghost was still in the DOTS, still chasing after Banshee.

“I think the ghost wants to pet Banshee!” Skizz laughs out.

Banshee stood still, letting herself get pet by the ghost. We started cleaning up, it being a Goryo.

Heading off, leaving the notes on the door and calling out ‘bye’ to the ghost.

In the truck, we settled in hammocks again. Bones with Gem, Banshee with Pearl and I, and Ridge sat up front with Impulse and Skizz.

~~~
When we got back to the office, the lights were on. Gem was quick to head in, the three cats chasing her.
I followed closely. Inside, Scar was there with Mumbo, and many cats, including Tanglewood. Gem patted my back and walked back outside.
“Yes?”
Mumbo sighed, noticing the two more cats.
“How do you keep getting more cats!” He asks.
Shrugging, “A connection.”
Moon was happily sat on Mumbo’s lap, purring.
Mumbo sighs again. “Please just tell me before I get jumpscared by another cat. While they are crazy, they are good company. And entertainment.”
I silently cheer.
yep, we aren't at the main part of the story
Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Spooky Times, I Might Be The Issue ~~~
Summary:
Its Halloween, and a town full of spooky cats is ready
Notes:
I've had lots of motivation thrown out of the window, then it's the end of my school year
my senior friends are gone now, so I did cry, but here's some fluff (:
Chapter Text
I was rudely woken to cold snow hitting my face. Snowball was perched on my stomach.
“Grian! Wake up!” Mumbo shouts. “I hope Snowball was able to wake you up!”
Grumbling, sitting up in bed and Snowball walking off.
“Yeah, yeah,” I yawn, “I’m up.”
Mumbo laughed on the other side of the door. “Breakfast is almost done.” Before footsteps padded away.
After getting ready for the day, ever so slightly in horror theme.
Downstairs, the two were quick to notice.
“I see, ready for Halloween?” Scar asks with a giggle.
Proudly standing, “I know it’s still a couple days away but…it’s our favourite holiday. A day where all are seen as normal.”
Voo meows. Scar was quick to fill the bowls, calling all the cats for breakfast. A whole army ran over, pounding into the kitchen. Paws thumping over.
We ate food, talking about.
“We need to start getting decorated,” Mumbo sighs, hand running over Moon’s back.
I perked up, “I can do it!”
The two chuckle.
“Can I help?” Scar asks.
I nod, smiling.
~~~

Voo walked by my side as we looked around at all the decorated stores. Ideas were running in my head.

“Like years previous, are y’all gonna help me?” I ask the cats.

Echos of meows.

“Right, and the new kitties?”

More meows.

Rev dashed over to home, the rest of us following.

Looking around at all 54 cats, “Can someone go get Scar?”

Oni was quick to agree, dashing inside, easily going through the new cat door.

I grabbed out the things we bought. Just to see Scar rolling out with a box and Oni on his lap.

“Ready to help!”

Gleeing, tossing over the fake spider web.

“Uhh, what's this?” He mumbled.

Opening another bag of fake spider webs, I respond, “Fake spider web.”

Pulling the web, I hand a bit to Orbs. He grabs some, waiting for command.

“Orbs, can you get to the roof?” He meows in response.

He leaped up, quickly tugging it with him. Spreading it out along the side of the house.

“Feel free to ask the cats for help,” I called out.

Banshee and Phantom doing a good job on making it look a bit more realistic. Para working with Scar.

I call out to a cat. “Tarot, can you grab the spiders?”

Her soft meow as a response.

Scar chuckles, “You seem to be determined.”

“Yep! The end will look amazing!”

Aon brought some over to Scar too.

“Orbs, is it in place!” I called up. He meows, jumping down. “Good job!”

Yokai grabs one, looking around. Maple and Jinn followed his lead.

“Ridge, can you help me?” Scar calls out. Ridge was quick to run over.

Smirking, I look at Snowball. “Can you use some snowballs to spark up the webs?” She quickly does it, pounding over.

“Demon, got the fake blood?” He meows in return. “And Circle?” Another meow.

Circle was quick to draw out a pentagram, one that was missing some points to make it unusable. Demon spread around the fake blood we bought.

“Where did you get fake blood from?” Scar asks.

I freze. Multiple cats, including Demon, looked at me.

“Well, uhh, Beef,” I mumble.

Scar froze, looking at me. “But..Beef?”

Demon just continued spreading it around.

“Demon!” Scar shouts up. Demon ignores Scar. Scar sighs. “I’m going to talk with Beef.”

Scar rolled off, leaving the decorations. When out of range, I look to Scribbles, “Get to Beef before Scar does, tell him not to tell Scar.” Scribbles nods, quickly running off.

Clapping my hands, “Let’s get back to work all!”

We were working on the house, not fully making it the major we do, waiting for the night of Halloween.

Scribbles ran over, note written out. ‘Done.’

“Thanks Scribs.”

We worked, finishing up the base.

When Scar arrives, he pulls up. “Beef said it was fake, but I don’t believe him.”

He looks up to the house. “Woah! It looks amazing!”

I smile, “Thanks!”

The cats looked up at me, most of them knowing what I was planning.

~~~
Marking off the calendar, seeing two days ‘til the day of scares.
“Do we think we can get Okuri-inu to help us?”
Goryo meows, agreeing.
“Who’d like to join me in finding it?”
Jackie was quick to agree, Mimic and Bones agreeing along.
“Everyone else, keep getting ready! Box, we’re gonna need your help.”
The five of us wandered to the forest, the direction of where we last encountered Okuri-inu.
Entering the land while calling out, picking up the map and looking around.
It wasn’t long before a ghostly, black dog stopped before me, red hazy eyes.
I dip my head in respect, “Hello again Okuri-inu.”
It woofs back, a haunting bark.
“So, it’s almost Halloween, and we think you’d have fun. Would you care to join us?”
Box sat in between us. The Okuri-inu thought for a couple seconds. A bark.
A hissed reply from Box. ‘ Yes .’
Crouching down, hand out to Okuri-inu. It lifted a paw, setting it on my palm. Jackie rubbed against its side, Mimic purring at it. Bones happily jogged around it.
“Welcome to our family Okuri.”
~~~

One day. I was working with Lizzie, making a whole bunch of sweet treats. Scribbles was helping, caring over a small bag of flour.

“You seem very excited for Halloween.”

I perk up, “I am!”

Joel laughs, Rev batting at his head. “We could tell.”

With all the cats ready and Okuri being excited. The whole town was ready.

“What about you two, ready?” I ask.

Joel chuckles, “We are! Costumes ready, house prepared, and treats being made.”

“Yep,” Lizzie giggles. “What about you?”

I smirk, the cats looking at me. “Oh, we all are.”

Joel huffs, “I don’t trust it.”

Keeping my smirk as I shrug.

~~~
The sun was setting, and the dark night started.
“Well Jackie, can you go get Okuri? Bring him into the back?” She meows in response.
Bloodied, scratched grey shirt, sleeveless. Long trench coat of black, detailed in weird, creepy trinkets we had found on all our adventures. Simple black jeans muddied at the bottom, but barely seen by the high boots, while black, visually stained with mud and blood. A belt of tan fabric strip. Hood hiding my face, covering my eyes, which had prescription, red contacts.
“Ready?” I ask everyone, grabbing the staff. Wooden with a darker coloured wood but heavily detailed. A fake, but mossy and dirty cat skull.
Many meows, all sounding excited.
“Well, everyone! Let’s get this haunted night started! Some of you, get the house finished. I’m gonna go see Okuri.”
Hopping out of my window, landing on both feet and sticking the staff into the ground. Scribbles was sat along some trees, Okuri right by her.
“There you two are!” I silently shout.
Okuri barks.
“Like it?” I ask, spinning in a circle.
He barks, tail wagging.
“Who’s ready for a haunting night?”
To responses, both ready.
~~~

Walking over to where we all agreed to meet up. Okuri by my side, a cape I made over his back, hood over his head, ears sticking out of two holes I made. Tied around his neck.

Some creepy costumes, some cute, some simple, and others normal. Many cats over there, around.

“I’m here,” I said in a dark tone.

Pearl, dressed in a creepy Red Riding Hood outfit, gasped, smiling. “Looking nice!”

“Who’s that?” Oli asks.

Okuri barks, tail flicking slightly.

“Everyone, meet my friend Okuri-inu, or just Okuri.”

“Is it living with us?” Mumbo asks, fake vampire fangs showing off.

I shake my head with a slight laugh, “Nope.”

He sighs, relieved.

Xisuma says, “Well, for this haunted night, let’s get started!”

Doc smiles, “I think either Cleo or I have the creepiest places.”

Cleo is quick to fight back, “Eh, more mine.”

“Grian’s worked hard with our house!” Scar says.

Nodding in response.

“Sounds like the three of you are ready for the houses to be judged,” Keralis giggles.

Ren barks happily, “I’m ready to see the houses! And sweet treats!”

Katherine holds out a drink to me. “Hot chocolate.”

I perk up, “Thanks!”

~~~
Most cats were running around, scaring people, being able to be themselves. Okuri was enjoying the night, getting treats and attention.
“Holy hell!” Doc shouts, seeing my work.
Standing proud, looking over it all. “Yep, worked hard.”
Fog flouted around the base of the house, fake webs gently waving the wind. “Fake” blood sticking around the house, splattered around. Red lights sticking out, slightly orange tint. Realistic tombstones pounded into the ground.
Beef walked up to me, “Well, this looks good.” Then whispers, “Is that what you needed the blood for?”
I nodded. He chuckles.
“G, where did you get all this fake blood?” False asks.
“Cat market,” I immediately responded.
Laughter, and concerned noises.
“How’d you do this?” Doc questions, walking over.
Lifting up Demon, “Working with the cats.”
Doc looked at the cats, “Next year, I will pay you in food to help me.”
Giggling as the cats look over at one another.
“It’ll be a hard bargain,” I announce.
“Darn,” Doc grumbles.
Bursting out into laughter, leaning on Beef for support. He draped an arm over my shoulder.
~~~

Leaning over the log, feet out to the warm fire. A cat walked out of a bush. An old brown bottle fur, two separate eyes, one yellow and one orange. A second cat walked behind it, black and gold fur, wooden colour and blue accents around the fur. Bright flame eyes.

I perked up, hand out. The black and gold kitty walked over, sniffing my hand.

Two more cats emerge. One was orange, with yellow glowing eyes and mouth. The other was dark grey with red eyes and smog.

The fur pattern of the nearest cat reminded me of the Phasmo lighters.

“Igniter?” I whisper.

A soft, but happy meow. The other three follow. With the brown bottled coloured cat, it reminded me of the sanity drinks.

“Sanity.” Another meow.

The other two, both similar to the two trophies for Halloween.

“Pumpkin,” while pointing at the orange cat then to the dark gray, “and Cauldron.”

I lean up, looking at everyone.

“Guys, I got four more cats,” I mutter.

Sanity was quick to leap over, meowing, almost as if she was introducing herself. Pumpkin crouched over, stealing some of Tango’s candy.

“No! My candy,” Tango whines.

Pumpkin steals some.

The four cats were quick to join the family, acting part of it already.

But Pumpkin, or what we all started calling her, Candy kept stealing everyone’s candy. And maybe went a little crazy.

“Candy, get down from the tree!” I shout.

She screeched back.

Pearl, with her hands on her hips, called up, “Get on down here cutie!”

And she leapt down, landing on Etho’s head.

Xisuma laughs, “Well, we’ve gotten more chaos on our hands.”

I smile at that.

Etho holds up Candy, giggling at her antics. “You are crazy.” And she meows back with a small chirp.

~~~
Somehow, we all ended up in night clothes, gathered in Bdubs’ house. Blankets and pillows sprawled around in a nest pattern. Tilly and Winnie curled up by one another, Prim laid over Impulse, suffocating him. Skizz and was playfully fighting Kevin.  Puppies all around, the parents watching them. Okuri just laid by Doc’s side.
The cats, mine and Jellie, were all around, doing different things.
Curled into Pearl’s side as she stole me again. A spooky movie playing. In the comfort of the night, surrounded by my cats, Okuri, the dogs, Jellie, and my friends.
Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Down to the 13 Willow Street ~~~
Summary:
Another ghost hunt w/ Pearl and Bdubs!
Notes:
It's been a struggle. All motivation for writing is gone and my depression isn't good, same w/ my loneliness...
Chapter Text
“Grian, get up! We’re here!”
I whine out, stretching out in the hammock. Deo meowing in a complaint. Mare quickly perking up.
“13 Willow Street,” Skizz mumbles.
“Great, a bad number,” Pearl whines.
Bdubs chuckled, “Well, it makes sense it’s haunted.”
As the two cats jump down, I flip over the hammock and flop down onto the ground.
They burst out in laughter, which I quickly joined in. Impulse extended a hand out, helping me up.
Stepping out into the cold, with a small flurry of snow. Ouija quickly bounding into the thin layer on the ground.
“Time to get inside, find this ghost, and head back. It’s cold to be ghost hunting,” Bdubs complains.
I led Bdubs up to the house, grabbing the extra key under a fake rock. Unlocking the door and entering.
“Breaker?” Bdubs asks over the walkie talkie.
Basement ,” from Pearl.
We enter, and I look at Bdubs. “Dubs, start looking for the ghosty room. I’ma get the breaker.”
He smiled, “Got it!”
I head down to the basement, quickly finding the breaker and opening the screechy door. Flipping the switch.
“Breakers on!”
Walking back up the stairs, hearing my friends talk.
“Find the ghost room?” I ask.
Pearl looked over. “Kitchen ghost. Just a hangry ghost.”
Humming, I walk over. Immediately, a plate is thrown. Smashing on the ground.
“Welp, already will be a ride.”
~~~

This ghost was pesky! Shouting between us, mainly at eachother but also at the ghost.

“Ghost, answer me!” I shouted into the Spirit Box.

“This ghost is gonna be the death of us,” Bdubs whines.

Skizz looks at him. “ Well, yeah, ghosts can kill us.”

“Where are you!!” I holler.

Behind…you .”

“Finally!”

Pearl chuckled, walking over.

I don’t see any orbs ,” Impulse tells us.

Another plate is thrown. So I grabbed the EMF reader and threw it where the plate landed. It pounded into the ground, flashing red for a second from the impact, back to lime, then to red again.

“And EMF 5,” Skizz celebrates.

They were all laughing, with Pearl shouting. “How is it that when Grian is aggressive, the ghost responds!”

I giggle along.

As we were trying to get the last evidence, I wandered around the house.

Entering the bedroom, Immediately, something jumps on me. Grabbing something soft, something that meowed. Holding up a brick red and brown cat. Mare was following me.

“Well, well, well, you are a little crazy one,” I quietly giggle.

The cat is quick to notice who I am, perking up. A very chipper meow.

“I’m betting you are Willow.” A small purr.

Setting Willow down, who looked around. A black cat crawled out, a bobtail. A very small cat. Bright green eyes.

Crouching to the ground, hand out to the cat. “And who are you?”

“Grian! Where are you?” Pearl shouted. “Imp wants us to put on headgear so he can watch for DOTS!”

The kitty perks up.

“Ah, you must be Headgear. I’ll just call you Gear,” I mumble to the cat.

Picking up the tiny cat, who easily climbed to my head.

G, did you just have gear with you? ” Impulse asked.

I walked over to Pearl. “Nope, just a new cat!”

She giggles, hand out to pet Gear.

“So, this is Gear, basically just headgear. And that’s Willow.” Pointing at the other new cat.

“Well, it’s lovely to meet you both,” Pearl awes.

Hurry up! ” Impulse cried out on the other side of the radio.

“Well, it hasn’t stepped in the salt yet,” Skizz mumbles.

Ouija walked over, pawing at the salt.

“Ouija, come on over. Leave the salt alone,” I command.

“Wraith?” Bdubs questions.

“Eh, it’s hard to tell.”

Impulse walks over, “Grian, why do you have two more cats?”

I just smile, “Willow and Gear.”

“Well, we can cross off DOTS, we’ve all looked for a while,” Skizz grumbles.

“But the salt hasn’t been touched,” Pearl complains.

Looking over Skizz’s shoulder at the journal. “It could be a stinky Spirit,” I growled.

We all groaned at that.

We started heading towards the door, but Willow, Pearl, and I were inside when the door slammed, a low rumble in the kitchen.

“Hunt!” Impulse shouted on the other side of the door.

Willow tugged on my shoelace, leading us over to a hiding spot. Behind some boxes in the front room. Flashlights off and tucked in. We kept silent as the ghost walked around, speed normal. The front door was being pushed, trying to be opened.

The ghost was calling out to us.

Perking up, I looked over to Pearl, who she looked at me concerned.

“Not Twins, and I have an idea to see if Wraith,” I whisper to her.

Pearl growled, “Grian, no.” Pushing past Willow, I shyly walk over.

Running, I passed the ghost. Its attention turned to me.

Grian! What are you doing! ” Impulse called out.

The ghost chasing me, it followed me. Jumping over the salt, turning around to watch it. Normal blink and speed, tapping into the salt. A footprint being left in it.

Over the radio as I ran into another room, “Spirit!”

Ducking into a room, hiding behind a chair. It tried searching for me, calling out to me. I kept hidden.

Then…nothing.

Hunt’s over! ”

Sighing, I climb out. Walking over, to the front, where they were calling my name. Mare was first to spot me, running over with mrows.

“Grian!”

I chuckle. “Well, that was fun.”

Pearl hugged me, before smacking me upside the head. “Don’t do that again!”

Laughing, I shook my head. “You know I will do it again.”

“Well, how is it a Spirit?” Bdubs asks.

Lifting up Mare. “Well, the speed was normal, crossing off the Twins, then I ran, leading it over the salt. And, a footprint was set into it. So not a Wraith, just a Spirit,” I explain.

Skizz looks in the book, “We just need Writing.”

“And we’ve got an objective, “have someone escape a ghost hunt”.” Impulse lists.

“How many more photos?” Pearl asks.

“Two,” Impulse says.

Walking back in, I look to the kitchen, looking at the book. “Come on. Writing.”

Impulse runs over, taking a picture.

“Be careful!” Skizz hollers from outside the house.

After Impulse got the picture, he turned to me. “Take it, you seem to know how to escape from the ghost.”

Grabbing it, I nod.

In the distance, the door slams. Lights flicker. Grabbing Impulse’s arm, I drag him into the back bedroom.

Come’re ,” The ghost cries out.

With the camera in hand, I leave the hiding spot, getting a thumbs up from Impulse.

Walking out, I see the ghost, who spots me. Snapping a shot before running to the garage. Footsteps followed. Hiding behind the truck, keeping quiet.

It wasn’t long before the hunt ended. We were quick to exit the house.

“Good job Griba,” Pearl glees.

Bdubs draps an arm around my shoulders, “Great, we can head out!”

“When is the van gonna get here?” I ask as we head to the “van”.

“fWhip and Pix said about a couple of days,” Skizz responds.

Settling down in the “van”, we get it ready to head out.

“Kitties, come on!” I shout out.

The five run over, almost racing. We close up the door, ready to head off. Crossing my legs, sitting on the hammock.

~~~
We arrived home after three hours, sun rising. Tiredly putting stuff away. Bdubs said goodbye while heading home with Stan.
“Time for rest,” Pearl sighs.
“See you later,” I wave as I walk off.
The five cats followed, all ready for sleep.
Entering inside the house, the smell of breakfast drafting around the house.
“Welcome back!” Mumbo calls out.
Scar smiles, looking over. “Breakfast is almost ready!”
Yawning, “I’m just gonna head off for bed.”
“Got it.”
“I’ll feed the cats for you!” Scar says.
Waving to the two, I head upstairs, the five following me. Entering the room, cats were all excited to see me.
“Scar’s gonna feed you guys, let me sleep,” I whine.
Grabbing some night clothes, I walk into the bathroom and change before heading off to bed, Willow and Gear already finding spots among the room.
Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Holidays Coming Around The Corner ~~~
Chapter Text
Walking outside into the deep snow, Circle burst into flame as it stepped out, melting the snow.
“Our own shovel,” Scar chuckles.
The redstone blood immediately shoves coats into our arms. “We’ve got to bundle up.”
“Oh, Gem invited me over for some winter clothes. And Cleo is there.”
“Well, take it to the house,” Mumbo strictly says, holding it to my chest.
Sighing, I grab it and slip it on.
Turning to Circle, who Demon had joined him, they were melting a path.
“Good job you two,” I praise.
Scar pulled out two treats from a small bag he now kept on himself, handing one out to each cat.
“Scar, you are spoiling them,” I giggle.
He chuckles.
“Well, remember, you two have business later today,” Mumbo reminds us.
“Mumbo,” I mumble.
“Yeah?” He asks.
Looking over. “Pix said you were helping a bit with the van. How’s it coming along?”
Mumbo smiled, “Closer than you think.”
Thanking Mumbo, I head off, Voo following me.
It wasn’t long until we arrived at Gem's, which I knock, or pound, on the door. A small chuckle on the other side of the door. It’s opened to Impulse, with a barking dog.
“Prim, calm down,” Impulse laughs.
Three other dogs run over. Voo meows, butting his head on Prim’s leg.
“Come on in!” Skizz calls.
Voo and I enter, getting introduced to the dogs.
“That’s Kevin Bubbles Malone Refrigerator Jimmy Madeye Dugan,” Skizz says, crouching beside his dog.
“We call him Kevin,” Gem sighs. “This is Winnie, my dog.”
“Tilly,” Pearl smiles.
Happily petting each dog.
“Come on, need to get you some winter clothes,” Cleo says, dragging Gem and I upstairs.
In Gem’s room, she pulled out a huge box of winter clothes.
“Many colours, many styles,” Gem says.
Cleo sits down on the bed, “And I can make you more.”
Gem searched through the box, pulling out clothes and tossing them to different sides. She pulled some of them up, one eye closed, before me before setting it in one of the two piles.
“Reds are the main colour, but blacks and browns go well with your style,” Cleo humms.
Kicking off my shoes, I take a seat next to Cleo. Legs up to my chest.
“Okay, that’s all,” Gem huffs out, sitting back.
Looking across the pile filled with reds, browns, and blacks, a couple whites and blues in there.
~~~

At the end of the fashion show, I ended up with a new red sweater, an old one of Gem’s, with a spiral detail. Brown winter jacket over it. Black sweatpants with sewn in flowers where it once was cut. A pair of winter boots, which were worn but loved. Similar to hiking boots, thin scratches around it.

“Looking nice,” Cleo chips in.

Gem smiled, “2 out of 2!”

“Grian, we are stealing you for fashion shows later,” Cleo chuckles.

Showing off the outfit, smiling, “I accept.”

Voo meowed from where he sat, perched on Cleo’s lap.

“Oh, I’m excited to make each kitty a jacket!” Cleo squeals.

Gem perks up, “I will help!”

“I’ll give you their collar colours,” I tell the two.

The two look at me, eyes bright, “Please!”

Looking to Voo, “You’re gonna get a sweater.” He meows back, happy.

~~~
“Why another campsite,” Gem whines out, bundling into her coat.
Cruci curled into Monkey’s thick fur. Hantu just waiting to be out in the snow.
“Mainly just the point it’s winter,” Impulse complains.
“I’m gonna be man in the van,” Scar calls out from where he sat in his wheelchair, now decorated with little homemade stickers of all my cats.
“Got it,” Skizz says to him.
Pushing down the door and stepping out into the cold air, Hantu dashing past me into the snow, rolling into it.
“Hantu, you crazy kitten,” I giggle.
Turning around to grab my things, watching as Cruci was leaping onto his lap.
“Me and Cruci will stay here,” Scar mumbles, covering her in the blanket he had.
Gem smiles, “Cruci, make sure he’s good for you.”
Scar giving an offended “hey!” and look. The four of us and the two cats head on in.
“Woodwind is smaller than Maple Lodge, which is good,” Impulse informs us.
Looking around, different stands, one of food and one of games, a campfire with tents all around. A community bathroom in the back.
“I see the generator!” Skizz happily shouts.
Skizz runs over, Hantu chasing him. I pick up Monkey, holding him in my arms.
“Let’s see if we can get the fire started,” I mumble, crouching near it.
Impulse nods. “They did say we can try.”
Grabbing my lighter, I flick it on. Holding it close to the fire, with Gem tossing some old newspapers in. It was quick to catch flame, burning up.
“Nice and warm,” I purred out, Monkey meowing with me.
Impulse started wandering around the area, thermo in hand. I joined Gem to look around, Skizz searching with Hantu.
It wasn’t long until Impulse called to us all, “Yellow Tent!”
We ran over, looking in the tent.
“It’s pretty close to freezing,” Impulse tells us.
“Is it freezing out of the tent?” I ask.
Impulse shook his head.
As we all watched the thermo, it passed freezing.
“Aye! Freezing temps!” Skizz cheers over the radio.
Scar’s voice came through, “ Set a camera down for Cruci and I .”
Gem was quick to set down the camera she brought, placing it on the tripod. “Set up,” she tells him.
Grabbing my Spirit Box, shooing everyone out.
“Anyone there?”
Nothing.
“Hello!”
And many more unanswered calls.
Pulling the tent door open, “Nothin’.”
Skizz opens the journal, “Seems like a hunt would give us a good amount of eliminations.”
“Sanity check?” I ask.
It’s still pretty high. About 83% ,” Scar informs us.
Gem sighs.
“If it’s a demon, let's try to see if it will hunt early on,” Impulse offers.
Gem places down a book, pencil on it.
“Please write on this,” Gem asks.
“Scar, keep an eye on the space,” I tell him.
Cruci’s meow comes through before “ I will!
We head off, leaving the ghost alone. We were quick to bundle around the fire, where snow already started melting.
“Scar, sanity check,” Gem says.
After a couple seconds, “ 76% .”
“Normally at 70% is when a Demon will hunt,” Impulse says, leaning onto a log.
With Monkey in my arms, I curl into him. The cold is uncomfortable.
This ghost ain’t doing anything, ” Scar whined, Cruci meowing with him.
“Stupid ghost, is it a Spirit?” I whine out.
Skizz responds, “Nope, can’t be.”
Groaning out, I curl more in on myself. “I just want to get out of here.”
Gem leans along my back, “Same!”
Perking up, I look to Monkey, Gem complaining as I moved her.
“Monkey, I wish for snow,” I say to him.
Monkey meows, then cries up to the sky. Clouds form overhead, before flakes start falling down.
Umm, G, your sanity just fell drastically! Average is now 57% ,” Scar says, voice panicked.
As one of Monkey’s tails fell down, while the other two were standing, I smirked.
“Cursed Possessions lower sanity, and well, Monkey is based off the monkey paw,” I say to the four around me and over the radio.
Impulse smiles, “Smart!”
Petting Monkey’s head, he purred at the touch.
But it wasn’t long before Scar called out we were 50% sanity. Almost immediately, a hunt started.
From hiding by the tent, Impulse and I listened to its steps. Step…step…step…step. As I moved out, it noticed me.
Orbs! ” Scar shouts.
I run, it following with fast steps.
“It’s a Revenant!” Impulse hollers.
Impulse is quick to run over, smudging to save us both. Running behind some bins, hiding. Its steps slowed once more.
Scar called the end of the hunt, with no haunted steps around.
“So, it's a Rev?” Scar asks as we all enter the van.
“Yep,” I responded, “it chased me with fast steps, slowing down when no one was insight.”
Impulse looked over the pictures and adjectives.
“That’s a good picture of the ghost,” Skizz praised.
Impulse puffed out his chest, proud. “I know.”
“Five more photos, prevent hunt with crucifix, get photo of the ghost -done- and get it to blow out a firelight,” Gem lists.
I look to Cruci, “Able to help us out?” She crawls out of the blanket and leaps up, catching her. “That’s a yes.”
“I’ll grab the firelight!” Skizz says loudly.
Impulse follows Cruci and I into the campsite. At the tent, we notice the writing in the book.
“Definitely a Rev,” Impulse grumbles, taking a picture.
I set Cruci down, letting her find a warm place to sit.
“Thanks Cruci,” I cheer.
Skizz sing-songs, “Here’s the firelight.”
Skizz places it down, lighting it. Before sprinkling salt in a spot.
“And some salt.”
“I’ll wait here to get the pictures,” Impulse says.
Walking off, Skizz and I look around. A meow catches my attention.
“Grian, I that's a new one,” Skizz mumbles.
It was quick to leap up into my arms. I barely caught him. One paw of each colour. Green, red, grey, and black. But black and old white fur. The eyes were blue.
“And who are you?” I ask, smiling.
He meows, very happy.
Skizz chuckles, “Sounds like it was waiting for you!”
He meows again. We head over to the fire, where his eyes shift into an orange.
“Seeing your eyes, I think you are Thermo,” I say to him.
A happy meow, eyes glistening. Before turning around in my arms and screaming out.
Two cats walked over, the one in lead with brown fur of different shades. Old white paper colour spotted around. The other one also had brown fur, but covered in moss and tangled with fairy lights.
I crouch down, setting Thermo down.
“I’m betting one of you two is Woodwind,” I mutter to the cats.
Skizz stood behind me.
The one tangled in lights runs forth, meowing. He was Woodwind.
“And who are you?” I ask the one straying behind.
She meows, walking closer. Spotting Skizz’s journal, she perks up and tugs at it.
“Journal?” Skizz asks. Before he could say anything else, she meowed.
I look at Skizz, smiling. “So, you are Journal. Lovely to meet you all.”
“Yeah! It’s lovely to meet you all,” Skizz says.
“Everything is done!” Impulse calls out.
Skizz shouts back, “Got it!”
I picked up Monkey, who came over with us, Journal, and Thermo as Skizz picked up Wind and Hauntu. We headed over to the van, where everything was already put back in its place.
“Homie Buddies, these new cats are Journal, Thermo, and Woodwind,” Skizz announces as we walk.
We all got ready, cleaning up and heading off.
~~~

Back to the office, we were quick to send Stan back to Bdubs to warm up. Snow heavily falling.

“Come on G, let's head home. Same with you kitties! I have new stickers to make!” Scar squeals.

I grab the handles of his wheelchair, calling out for Igniter. He ran over, melting a path.

Wandering up the path, head home.

Mumbo was there, already making food for us.

“Welcome back,” he says as we enter.

Nodding to him, Scar and I were quick to cuddle around the fire. It was obvious Christmas was near, and the cats, like every year, were distant to me.

“Go on, take warm showers. Food will be done,” Mumbo says, parent-like tone.

Scar and I were quick to the bathrooms. Entering my room, I checked the gifts I got were still hidden. None broken into. Grabbing sweatpants that went past my feet and a heavy hoodie before heading into the bathroom for my shower.

Enjoying the warmth of the heat, purring (something I did after being around the cats for a while).

Changed and warm, I padded down to the kitchen, sitting down next to Scar, who was already working on the new stickers.

“So, who are the new three?” Mumbo asks, setting down two bowls of stew.

“Thermo is by the fire with Bones,” I mumble, taking in the smell of the stew.

“Oh! Journal is this little gal,” Scar announces, lifting up Journal who was resting on his lap.

“And Woodwind is up on the fridge,” I humm out.

Mumbo nods, setting down his own bowl, different from ours.

“Ready to get the tree set up soon?” Scar happily asks during dinner.

Before Mumbo or I could respond, multiple meows.

“Well that’s a yes from the cats, and I,” mumbling while I ate.

Mumbo sighs, “You know it.”

I'm trying to figure out the plot line, still working on that.
