Hey so just to explain. I've recently been obsessed with Cap Red's King Who Lived fic and since it was discontinued years ago, I wanted to try and continue it. I probably won't follow a plot, or just a loose one, because I mostly have separate scenes in mind rather than a thought-out storyline.
But here's context:
Basically, Harry's parents are alive and have survived Halloween 1981 but have ignored him since he was a child, favouring his twin brother Chris, who defeated Voldemort as a baby, and his little sister Glory, who is the first Potter girl in several generations. While his siblings went to Hogwarts, Harry had to go to Beauxbatons, where he befriended Fleur and by association Krum.
Because the Wizarding World has a tradition of Light and Dark, it is unbalanced without a monarch to arbitrate between both side. That is why every teenage witch and wizard goes through a Ritual to determine whether they are the long-awaited monarch. Harry goes through the Ritual and is found to be the King, the first one in a thousand years. As he becomes acquainted with his new role, he must deal with his parents trying to control him as well as the Ministry.
Luckily, three families are sworn to him as his seneschals, and he can be assured of their loyalty: The Weasleys, the Diggorys and the Malfoys.
Harry is also forced to transfer to Hogwarts for his fifth year and beyond.
Things of note are:
- Cap Red was trying to put the plots of books 3 to 5 in their fic, so Umbridge is the DADA professor, but the Triwizard Tournament is happening and Sirius has escaped Azkaban. Harry and his siblings were chosen as additional champions, meaning Hogwarts now has four instead of two.
- Cap Red sorted Harry in Hufflepuff but I think he'd actually still be in Gryffindor, even though he hasn't lived the same life.
- The original fic ended when Harry was in the middle of the first task, which was modified to be a hunt in the Forbidden Forest. There is another fic that continued that one (only one chapter), in which Harry encounters Sirius in the forest and learns the truth. My fic starts when he gets back from the task and deals with what he learnt.

I would really recommend reading Cap Red's fic first as it is amazing and you won't really understand mine without the context.
