strange but amazing family

Summary:

The Grimm crew as a large family.

Chapter Text

I have just finished watching the entire series of Grimm, and absolutely loved it. I decided to try my hand at writing some stories about the show. If anyone is interested, I plan on making this into a long series with several stories. I have tons of ideas.

This first story is set about six months after the series ended. Even though Black Claw has been defeated, the WC is still very active. They are dedicated to making sure another upraising does not start.

I really like Meisner’s character, so he did not die in this story. Sean shot him in the shoulder, only wounding him. But he passed out and they thought he was dead. Sean and Bonapart started arguing with each other about what Sean did. While they were arguing, Meisner woke up and snuck out.

Meisner, Eve and Trubel are still members of the WC. They will not be in the first story, but I will add them to several future stories.

Rosalee is only pregnant with one baby, not triplets.

Diana’s powers kept growing and the young girl was having trouble controlling them. Adalind and Sean asked Rosalee and Sean’s Mother for help. They came up with a suppressant that suppressed most of her powers. They are coming back a little at a time, as she is learning to control them better.

This story revolves around the characters of the show as a family, but it also contains canon type violence and police cases.

WARNING: contains the disciplinary spanking of minors by parental figures

Nick was woken from a deep slumber by a creaking noise. He laid in bed, straining his ears to figure out where the noise came from. But he no longer heard it.

Adalind was sound asleep beside him, so he knew it wasn’t her.

He figured it was just Diana going to the bathroom or getting a drink of water. But after everything that had happened in the past, he had to make sure.

Nick climbed out of bed, being careful not to wake his sleeping wife, and quietly left the room.

Nick and Adalind had moved out of the paint shop and bought a house. it was a four bedroom, two story house with a large back yard.

Nick walked into the hallway and made his way to Diana’s room. He quietly opened the door and peeked inside, but noticed that the bed was empty. Then he heard noises coming from downstairs, so he headed down the stairs and followed the noises into the living room.

He frowned when saw Diana sitting on the floor in front of the t.v, she had the volume down low. Nick recognized the show she was watching, it was South Park. Definitely not a show she was allowed to watch.

“Diana Shade Renard.” Nick said sternly, causing the young girl to jump. She quickly turned the t.v off and stood up to face the man.

“H..hey Nick.” She gave him her most innocent smile. The smile worked on Nick a lot better then it did on her parents. Nick was the softer of the three.

“What are you doing, young lady?” Nick asked sternly.

“I couldn’t sleep.” Diana said.

“So you came down here to watch a show you know you are not allowed to watch?” Nick asked.

“Some of the kids were talking about it in school.” The young girl said. “It sounded cool.”

“It’s not.” Nick said, sitting on the sofa and reaching out and gently taking Diana’s small hands into his much larger ones. He tugged her until she was standing between his knees.

“I’m sorry, Nick.” She sniffled.

Nick took a deep breath, trying to remain stern. She looked so small and sweet, it was hard not to completely cave in and let her continue watching the show. But he knew he had to be strong and not give in. He was the adult. He was a Grimm and a Police Detective. He could handle one little girl. No matter how adorable she was.

“Diana.” He said. “You know you are not to get up and watch t.v when you are supposed to be asleep. And you know you are not allowed to watch a show with a lot of bad words in it. You know which stations you are allowed to watch.”

“I’m sorry, Nick.” Diana sniffled again.

“You are not allowed to watch t.v tomorrow.” Nick said, causing her to pout. “And you will go to bed an hour early tomorrow night.”

“But Nick.” Diana whined.

“I mean it, kiddo.” Nick said. “The no t.v is for watching a show you know you shouldn’t be watching. And the early bedtime is for sneaking down here to watch t.v when you should be sleeping.”

“Yes Sir.” Diana said sadly. She couldn’t believe Nick was punishing her, he was the soft one. Even though she knew she was getting off easy. Her Mommy and Daddy probably would have given her a few swats before sending her back to bed.

Nick had never spanked her before.

“Okay, Honey.” Nick said, his voice now soft. He wrapped her into a hug and stood up, still holding her. “Bed time.”

He carried her upstairs and into her bedroom, then he gently laid her in bed.

“Get some sleep, sweetheart.” He said, leaning over and kissing her forehead.

“Goodnight, Nick.” Diana said.

“Goodnight, Sweetie.” Nick replied.

Nick left the room and headed back to his and Adalind’s room, after checking the nursery to check on Kelly. He was still sleeping.

“Something wrong?” Adalind asked as Nick entered their bedroom. She was sitting up in bed.

“No, everything’s okay.” Nick assured her, as he laid down. Adalind also laid down and they turned to face each other.

“Diana was downstairs watching South Park.” Nick explained. “She’s not allowed to watch t.v tomorrow and she’s going to bed an hour early.’

“Softy.” Adalind smiled, shaking her head at her husband.

“I am not.” Nick argued, even though he knew she was right. “I punished her.”

“Uh huh.” The blond woman said, still smiling.

“Not my fault she’s so adorable.” Nick grumbled. “In fact, that’s your fault. she gets it from you.”

Monroe and Rosalee were sound asleep, wrapped into each other’s arms, when Rosalee woke up with a pained groan. She gently rubbed her swollen belly.

“You okay?” A Startled Monroe asked, instantly awake. “Is it time? Do you need a doctor?”

“I’m fine, Monroe.” Rosalee smiled at her husband. “Will you please stop freaking out every time I make a noise?”

“Sorry, Babe.” Monroe sighed. “But the closer the due date gets, the more nervous I get.”

“You and me both.” Rosalee said.

Monroe placed a hand on his wife’s belly and smiled. “I can’t wait until the little guy gets here.”

“You are going to make an amazing Daddy.” Rosalee said.

“And you are going to make an amazing Mommy.” Monroe said.

Then Monroe’s eyes widened, as did his smile. “He just kicked.”

“I know.” Rosalee responded. “I felt it.”

“That must feel weird.” Monroe said.

“It did at first.” Rosalee said. “But now it feels natural.”

“I love you so much.” Monroe said, leaning over and kissing her.

“I love you too.” Rosalee said, as they once again kissed.

They fell back to sleep wrapped in each other’s arms.

The next morning, Nick and Adalind were in the kitchen cooking breakfast. Eleven-month-old Kelly was sitting in his playpen, playing with a stuffed dinosaur. Nick had set up the playpen in a corner of the kitchen, well away from the stove.

“Diana!” Nick called out, as he was cooking the bacon. “Hurry up, breakfast is almost done!”

“Don’t forget.” Adalind said, as she placed a plate of scrambled eggs on the table. “You have to pick Diana up after school and Kelly from day care, I’ll be in court all day.”

“I remember.” Nick replied. “Pick up the kids and take them bar hopping. Not a problem.”

“Make sure Diana does her homework before taking her to the bars.” Adalind said, as Nick set the bacon on the table.

“You’re taking me to a bar?” A confused Diana asked, as she walked into the kitchen. She was dressed for school, but her hair hadn’t been brushed and she looked tired.

“No, Honey.” Nick smiled at her. “I was just joking with your Mom”. Then his voice turned serious. “No bars for you until you’re fifty.”

“Daddy said seventy.” The little girl said, as she sat down at the kitchen table.

“Well, I hate to agree with your Daddy.” Nick told her. “But in this case, I do. No bars until you’re seventy.”

Adalind started making Diana’s plate, while Nick picked up Kelly and put him into his highchair that was at the table.

“I’m still tired.” Diana said, after a large yawn. “Can I go back to bed?”

“No you may not.” Adalind said, sitting the plate in front of her daughter and giving the young girl a stern look. “If you would have stayed in bed last night like you were supposed to, you would not be sleepy this morning. Now eat up.”

“Yes Ma’am.” Diana sighed, as she started eating.
Nick placed a plastic plate shaped like the head of a cartoon bear in front of Kelly. The eleven-month-old completely ignored the baby spoon and grabbed a handful of sliced bananas and stuffed them into his mouth.

“You eat just like your Daddy.” Adalind told her son.

“Hey.” Nick objected, sitting down at the table. “I use a fork. Sometimes.”

Adalind sat down and everyone started eating.

Hank grabbed his car keys from the table beside the front door and was about to leave for work, when he heard a knock on his door. He opened the door to reveal a middle-aged woman with graying brown hair.

“Can I help you?” Hank asked.

“Are you Detective Hank Griffin?” The woman asked, handing the man her ID, identifying her as Hazel Melody, from the Child Protective Service.

“Yes Ma’am.” Hank said, handing her back her ID. “Please come in.”

The woman walked in and Hank lead her into the living room, motioning towards a chair.

“Can I get you something to drink?” Hank asked. “I’ve got soda or water.”

“No thank you.” Mrs. Melody said, sitting down.

“Hank sat down and asked. “What can I help you with? I haven’t been involved in any cases involving kids in a few months.”

“My visit has nothing to do with you being a detective.” The woman replied. “There is no easy way to tell you this, no gentle explanation. So I will just come out and say it, then explain myself and try my best to answer the questions I know you will have.”

“Okay.” Hank said, slowly. “That sounds disconcerting.”

“A woman named Vanessa Fenton passed away three months ago.” She said.

“Vanessa?” Hank asked, surprised. “How did it happen?”

“Car accident.” Mrs. Melody answered. “She and her fiancé, Nathan Byron were killed. Ms. Fenton’s five-year-old son was at school when it happened.”

“Vanessa had a kid?” Hank asked, trying to wrap his head around the fact that Vanessa was dead. They had dated for several months and were getting close. But she received an amazing job opportunity in Seattle and moved away. She was a lawyer.

“Yes.” The woman said. “The birth certificate listed the father as unknown. But an ex-neighbor has recently contacted my office saying Ms. Fenton confided in her that you are her son’s father.”

“W…What?” Asked a confused and shocked Hank.

“According to the neighbor, Ms. Fenton told her your name, and that you were a police detective with the Portland P.D.” Mrs. Melody said.

“Where is the kid now?” Hank asked, still trying to process what he had just learned.

“He’s safe.” The woman replied. “He’s in a group home here in Portland.”

“What now?” Hank wanted to know. “What do I do?”

“We have no actual proof that you are the father.” She replied. “So you can not be forced to take a DNA test.”

“If there is even a very slight chance.” Hank said. “I want to know.”

“I can arrange a DNA test this morning.” Mrs. Melody said. “We should have the results in a couple days.”

“What’s his name?” Hank asked.

“Daniel.” She answered.

“When can I meet him?” Hank wanted to know.

“First we do the DNA test.” Mrs. Melody replied. “Then we talk about what comes next. Are you wanting to take guardianship of Daniel, if he is your son?”

“Yes Ma’am.” Hank said without hesitation. He was still in shock and was terrified at the prospect of being a father. But he knew that Daniel belonged with him if he was the boy’s father.
