Chapter Text
I have just finished watching the entire series of Grimm, and absolutely loved it. I decided to try my hand at writing some stories about the show. If anyone is interested, I plan on making this into a long series with several stories. I have tons of ideas.
This first story is set about six months after the series ended. Even though Black Claw has been defeated, the WC is still very active. They are dedicated to making sure another upraising does not start.
I really like Meisner’s character, so he did not die in this story. Sean shot him in the shoulder, only wounding him. But he passed out and they thought he was dead. Sean and Bonapart started arguing with each other about what Sean did. While they were arguing, Meisner woke up and snuck out.
Meisner, Eve and Trubel are still members of the WC. They will not be in the first story, but I will add them to several future stories.
Rosalee is only pregnant with one baby, not triplets.
Diana’s powers kept growing and the young girl was having trouble controlling them. Adalind and Sean asked Rosalee and Sean’s Mother for help. They came up with a suppressant that suppressed most of her powers. They are coming back a little at a time, as she is learning to control them better.
This story revolves around the characters of the show as a family, but it also contains canon type violence and police cases.
WARNING: contains the disciplinary spanking of minors by parental figures

Nick was woken from a deep slumber by a creaking noise. He laid in bed, straining his ears to figure out where the noise came from. But he no longer heard it.
Adalind was sound asleep beside him, so he knew it wasn’t her.
He figured it was just Diana going to the bathroom or getting a drink of water. But after everything that had happened in the past, he had to make sure.
Nick climbed out of bed, being careful not to wake his sleeping wife, and quietly left the room.
Nick and Adalind had moved out of the paint shop and bought a house. it was a four bedroom, two story house with a large back yard.
Nick walked into the hallway and made his way to Diana’s room. He quietly opened the door and peeked inside, but noticed that the bed was empty. Then he heard noises coming from downstairs, so he headed down the stairs and followed the noises into the living room.
He frowned when saw Diana sitting on the floor in front of the t.v, she had the volume down low. Nick recognized the show she was watching, it was South Park. Definitely not a show she was allowed to watch.
“Diana Shade Renard.” Nick said sternly, causing the young girl to jump. She quickly turned the t.v off and stood up to face the man.
“H..hey Nick.” She gave him her most innocent smile. The smile worked on Nick a lot better then it did on her parents. Nick was the softer of the three.
“What are you doing, young lady?” Nick asked sternly.
“I couldn’t sleep.” Diana said.
“So you came down here to watch a show you know you are not allowed to watch?” Nick asked.
“Some of the kids were talking about it in school.” The young girl said. “It sounded cool.”
“It’s not.” Nick said, sitting on the sofa and reaching out and gently taking Diana’s small hands into his much larger ones. He tugged her until she was standing between his knees.
“I’m sorry, Nick.” She sniffled.
Nick took a deep breath, trying to remain stern. She looked so small and sweet, it was hard not to completely cave in and let her continue watching the show. But he knew he had to be strong and not give in. He was the adult. He was a Grimm and a Police Detective. He could handle one little girl. No matter how adorable she was.
“Diana.” He said. “You know you are not to get up and watch t.v when you are supposed to be asleep. And you know you are not allowed to watch a show with a lot of bad words in it. You know which stations you are allowed to watch.”
“I’m sorry, Nick.” Diana sniffled again.
“You are not allowed to watch t.v tomorrow.” Nick said, causing her to pout. “And you will go to bed an hour early tomorrow night.”
“But Nick.” Diana whined.
“I mean it, kiddo.” Nick said. “The no t.v is for watching a show you know you shouldn’t be watching. And the early bedtime is for sneaking down here to watch t.v when you should be sleeping.”
“Yes Sir.” Diana said sadly. She couldn’t believe Nick was punishing her, he was the soft one. Even though she knew she was getting off easy. Her Mommy and Daddy probably would have given her a few swats before sending her back to bed.
Nick had never spanked her before.
“Okay, Honey.” Nick said, his voice now soft. He wrapped her into a hug and stood up, still holding her. “Bed time.”
He carried her upstairs and into her bedroom, then he gently laid her in bed.
“Get some sleep, sweetheart.” He said, leaning over and kissing her forehead.
“Goodnight, Nick.” Diana said.
“Goodnight, Sweetie.” Nick replied.
Nick left the room and headed back to his and Adalind’s room, after checking the nursery to check on Kelly. He was still sleeping.
“Something wrong?” Adalind asked as Nick entered their bedroom. She was sitting up in bed.
“No, everything’s okay.” Nick assured her, as he laid down. Adalind also laid down and they turned to face each other.
“Diana was downstairs watching South Park.” Nick explained. “She’s not allowed to watch t.v tomorrow and she’s going to bed an hour early.’
“Softy.” Adalind smiled, shaking her head at her husband.
“I am not.” Nick argued, even though he knew she was right. “I punished her.”
“Uh huh.” The blond woman said, still smiling.
“Not my fault she’s so adorable.” Nick grumbled. “In fact, that’s your fault. she gets it from you.”

Monroe and Rosalee were sound asleep, wrapped into each other’s arms, when Rosalee woke up with a pained groan. She gently rubbed her swollen belly.
“You okay?” A Startled Monroe asked, instantly awake. “Is it time? Do you need a doctor?”
“I’m fine, Monroe.” Rosalee smiled at her husband. “Will you please stop freaking out every time I make a noise?”
“Sorry, Babe.” Monroe sighed. “But the closer the due date gets, the more nervous I get.”
“You and me both.” Rosalee said.
Monroe placed a hand on his wife’s belly and smiled. “I can’t wait until the little guy gets here.”
“You are going to make an amazing Daddy.” Rosalee said.
“And you are going to make an amazing Mommy.” Monroe said.
Then Monroe’s eyes widened, as did his smile. “He just kicked.”
“I know.” Rosalee responded. “I felt it.”
“That must feel weird.” Monroe said.
“It did at first.” Rosalee said. “But now it feels natural.”
“I love you so much.” Monroe said, leaning over and kissing her.
“I love you too.” Rosalee said, as they once again kissed.
They fell back to sleep wrapped in each other’s arms.

The next morning, Nick and Adalind were in the kitchen cooking breakfast. Eleven-month-old Kelly was sitting in his playpen, playing with a stuffed dinosaur. Nick had set up the playpen in a corner of the kitchen, well away from the stove.
“Diana!” Nick called out, as he was cooking the bacon. “Hurry up, breakfast is almost done!”
“Don’t forget.” Adalind said, as she placed a plate of scrambled eggs on the table. “You have to pick Diana up after school and Kelly from day care, I’ll be in court all day.”
“I remember.” Nick replied. “Pick up the kids and take them bar hopping. Not a problem.”
“Make sure Diana does her homework before taking her to the bars.” Adalind said, as Nick set the bacon on the table.
“You’re taking me to a bar?” A confused Diana asked, as she walked into the kitchen. She was dressed for school, but her hair hadn’t been brushed and she looked tired.
“No, Honey.” Nick smiled at her. “I was just joking with your Mom”. Then his voice turned serious. “No bars for you until you’re fifty.”
“Daddy said seventy.” The little girl said, as she sat down at the kitchen table.
“Well, I hate to agree with your Daddy.” Nick told her. “But in this case, I do. No bars until you’re seventy.”
Adalind started making Diana’s plate, while Nick picked up Kelly and put him into his highchair that was at the table.
“I’m still tired.” Diana said, after a large yawn. “Can I go back to bed?”
“No you may not.” Adalind said, sitting the plate in front of her daughter and giving the young girl a stern look. “If you would have stayed in bed last night like you were supposed to, you would not be sleepy this morning. Now eat up.”
“Yes Ma’am.” Diana sighed, as she started eating.
Nick placed a plastic plate shaped like the head of a cartoon bear in front of Kelly. The eleven-month-old completely ignored the baby spoon and grabbed a handful of sliced bananas and stuffed them into his mouth.
“You eat just like your Daddy.” Adalind told her son.
“Hey.” Nick objected, sitting down at the table. “I use a fork. Sometimes.”
Adalind sat down and everyone started eating.

Hank grabbed his car keys from the table beside the front door and was about to leave for work, when he heard a knock on his door. He opened the door to reveal a middle-aged woman with graying brown hair.
“Can I help you?” Hank asked.
“Are you Detective Hank Griffin?” The woman asked, handing the man her ID, identifying her as Hazel Melody, from the Child Protective Service.
“Yes Ma’am.” Hank said, handing her back her ID. “Please come in.”
The woman walked in and Hank lead her into the living room, motioning towards a chair.
“Can I get you something to drink?” Hank asked. “I’ve got soda or water.”
“No thank you.” Mrs. Melody said, sitting down.
“Hank sat down and asked. “What can I help you with? I haven’t been involved in any cases involving kids in a few months.”
“My visit has nothing to do with you being a detective.” The woman replied. “There is no easy way to tell you this, no gentle explanation. So I will just come out and say it, then explain myself and try my best to answer the questions I know you will have.”
“Okay.” Hank said, slowly. “That sounds disconcerting.”
“A woman named Vanessa Fenton passed away three months ago.” She said.
“Vanessa?” Hank asked, surprised. “How did it happen?”
“Car accident.” Mrs. Melody answered. “She and her fiancé, Nathan Byron were killed. Ms. Fenton’s five-year-old son was at school when it happened.”
“Vanessa had a kid?” Hank asked, trying to wrap his head around the fact that Vanessa was dead. They had dated for several months and were getting close. But she received an amazing job opportunity in Seattle and moved away. She was a lawyer.
“Yes.” The woman said. “The birth certificate listed the father as unknown. But an ex-neighbor has recently contacted my office saying Ms. Fenton confided in her that you are her son’s father.”
“W…What?” Asked a confused and shocked Hank.
“According to the neighbor, Ms. Fenton told her your name, and that you were a police detective with the Portland P.D.” Mrs. Melody said.
“Where is the kid now?” Hank asked, still trying to process what he had just learned.
“He’s safe.” The woman replied. “He’s in a group home here in Portland.”
“What now?” Hank wanted to know. “What do I do?”
“We have no actual proof that you are the father.” She replied. “So you can not be forced to take a DNA test.”
“If there is even a very slight chance.” Hank said. “I want to know.”
“I can arrange a DNA test this morning.” Mrs. Melody said. “We should have the results in a couple days.”
“What’s his name?” Hank asked.
“Daniel.” She answered.
“When can I meet him?” Hank wanted to know.
“First we do the DNA test.” Mrs. Melody replied. “Then we talk about what comes next. Are you wanting to take guardianship of Daniel, if he is your son?”
“Yes Ma’am.” Hank said without hesitation. He was still in shock and was terrified at the prospect of being a father. But he knew that Daniel belonged with him if he was the boy’s father.

Hank walked into the police station in a daze, a million questions running through his mind. He heard some of his co-workers talking to him, but he had no idea what they were saying. It was like he was on auto-pilot, heading directly to his desk without really thinking about it.
Until he walked into what felt like a solid wall. He stumbled backwards a couple steps, then looked up and saw his Captain standing there, giving him a concerned look. Nick and Wu were standing on either side of the taller man.
“You okay, Hank?” Nick asked his friend and partner. “You look kinda out of it.”
“I’m fine.” Hank said quickly. Then he sighed and said. “that’s a huge lie.”
“Let’s talk in my office.” Sean said, noticing the strange and curious looks the others were giving them. He wasn’t sure what was going on, but he figured it would be better to discuss whatever it was in private.
Sean led the other three men into his office and Hank sank into one of the chairs with a deep sigh.
“What’s going on, Hank?” A very concerned Nick asked, sitting beside the man and placing a hand on his shoulder.
“Either the best thing to ever happen to me.” Hank replied. “Or the beginning of the end.”
“That sounds ominous.” Wu replied.
“A woman from Child Protective Services came by my place this morning.” Hank explained. “A woman I used to date passed away three months ago. Apparently, there is a chance that her five-year-old is my son.”
“What?” Nick asked in surprise. “How did that happen?”
Hank looked at him like he was an idiot and Nick held up his hands in surrender. “Okay, I know how that happened. I was just surprised.”
“Yeah.” Hank replied. “You and me both.”
“What’s the little Tykes name?” Wu wanted to know.
“Daniel.” Hank replied with a smile.
“When will you know for certain?” Sean asked.
“A couple days.” Hank answered. “I tried to get more information about him, but they won’t tell me much until it’s proven that I am Daniel’s father.”
Hank’s smile widened as he said. “Daniel’s father, that has a nice ring to it.”
“I know this has to be very unsettling.” Nick said, squeezing his friend’s shoulder. “But you are not alone in this. Whatever the results are, we will be there.”
“Nick’s right.” Wu assured the Detective. “I’m actually getting pretty good at this babysitting thing. Last time, I actually remembered to feed and water Kelly. So my expertise is at your disposal.”
“He even put the diaper on the right end last time.” Nick added.
“We are all here for you.” Sean assured the man.
Over the past six months, Sean had started seeing the rag-tag group as friends. Maybe even family. It still felt weird to him, but it also felt right. It felt natural.
When his daughter was in danger, when the skull guy wanted her for a child bride, these people risked their own lives to protect her. Despite everything Sean had done to them, they put all of it aside to protect Diana.
“Thank you.” Hank said sincerely. “I have the feeling that I’m going to need a lot of help on this. I have no idea how to raise a kid.”
“Neither did I.” Sean said. “But I like to think that I am doing more than an adequate job. Fatherhood is an amazing experience. It can be daunting at times, and there have been times when I think I am losing my mind. But being Diana’s Daddy is the one truly significant aspect of my life.”
“I hate agreeing with the Captain.” Nick said. “But he’s right. Being a father is an amazing experience.”
Hank nodded, feeling a lot better. He was still scared, but he knew he was not alone. And that made a lot of difference.

Nick was sitting in his car, waiting for his turn. He was in a line of cars in front of Diana’s school. Kelly was sitting in his car seat in the backseat.
“It’s our turn, Buddy.” Nick told his son as he pulled forward a few feet and stopped in front of the large front doors of Diana’s school. “Here comes your sister.”
One if the teachers opened Nick’s back door and Diana jumped into the car, smiling.
“See you Monday, Ms. Johnston.” The young girl said.
“Have a great weekend Diana. Buckle up.” The woman replied, shutting the door.
“How was school?” Nick asked the young girl, as he pulled away from the school and out onto the street.
“It was great.” Diana replied, as she reached over and started poking her brother’s stomach, the eleven-month-old giggled. “I got an A on my math test.”
“That’s great, Honey.” Nick praised. “I’m very proud of you.”
Another poke and Kelly laughed again.
“You are a great big sister.” Nick said. “Kelly is lucky to have you for a sister.”
“I’m lucky too.” Diana said. “Kelly’s a pretty cool brother. Even if he did chew off my Barbie’s head.”
“He chewed up my expense report I was working on for work.” Nick said. “And your Mommy’s new lipstick.”
“He’s got a big mouth.” Diana replied.
“A very big mouth.” Nick agreed.
“But he’s still cute.” Diana said, once again causing the baby to laugh by poking him.
“Agreed.” Nick smiled.
“Hey Nick, can we get ice cream on the way home? Please.” Diana asked hopefully.
“Sure.” Nick said. “I think an A on a math test deserves an ice cream.”
“With sprinkles?” Diana asked with a huge smile.
“Of course with sprinkles.” Nick replied. “You can’t have ice cream without sprinkles.”
GRIMM[[][][][][]GRIMM
Monroe and Rosalee were in the Spice Shop, both were restocking the shelves.
“I’ll get that.” Monroe said as he rushed over to his wife and took the box of jars from her. “You shouldn’t lift that.”
“Monroe.” Rosalee sighed. “It barely weighs five pounds.”
“Just leave the lifting to me.” Monroe said.
Rosalee shook her head, but didn’t say anything. Monroe was getting extremely annoying, but Rosalee knew it was only because he loved her and was worried about her and their child.
At first, it was sweet and flattering. But now it was getting annoying and tiresome. But still sweet. It was Monroe’s nature to protect those he loved. And she loved and respected that about him.
The door opened, jingling the bell. Both turned to see Bud enter the store
“Hey Bud.” Monroe greeted him, sitting the box of jars on the counter.
“Hey guys.” Bud returned the greeting. “The wife sent me for some tea.”
“Yeah, Phyliss called this morning.” Rosalee said, grabbing a small box from a lower shelve and handing it to him. “Here you go.”
“Thanks, Rosalee.” Bud said. “What do I owe you?”
“Nothing.” Rosalee replied. “Phyliss paid with her card.”
All of a sudden, Rosalee felt an intense pain in her stomach. She groaned loudly and bent over, clutching her belly.
“Rosalee!” Monroe exclaimed, rushing to her side and wrapping his arms around her . “What’s wrong?”
“I….I think the baby’s coming.” Rosalee grunted out. “And quickly.”
“Okay.” Monroe said in a shaky voice. “Just calm down. Everyone just calm down.”
“Yeah, Monroe.” Bud said in a calm voice. “Calm down. Rosalee needs to get to the hospital now. And you need to keep a level head. My truck is parked right in front. Help me get Rosalee into the truck and I will drive you there.”
“Right.” Monroe said. “Hospital.”
“Hurry!” Rosalee panted.
Monroe held onto Rosalee as he helped her walk to the door and out to Bud’s truck. Bud quickly flipped the open sign over to closed, and locked the door. Then he hurried out to his truck and helped Monroe ease Rosalee into the truck. Then both men rushed over to the drivers side and climbed in.
“We will be there in no time.” Bud said, still sounding calm.
“How are you being so calm?” Monroe asked the other man. Bud was the most nervous person he knew. He was always jittery and jumpy, even when there was no need to be.
“I’ve been through this five times.” Bud replied. “Trust me, the first couple were nerve wrecking. You need to call the hospital to let them know we will be there in about five minutes.”
“Make it two!” Rosalee hissed out. Then she groaned again. “Can’t you drive any faster?” She demanded to know.
“It’s okay, Rosie.” Monroe said, kissing her temple. “I’m right here, Honey. No need to bite off Bud’s head.”
“Don’t worry about it.” Bud said, as he sped up a little. “Phyliss threatened to go find a Grimm to chop my head off when she was ready to deliver Nate.”
Monroe fished his phone out of his pocket and quickly called the hospital, then he replaced his phone and wrapped his wife into a hug. “You are doing so good, Rosie.” He said, kissing her temple again. “I love you so much.”
Bud parked in front of the emergency entrance, where a nurse and orderly were waiting with a wheelchair. Both men jumped out of the truck and rushed around to the passenger side, to help Rosalee out of the truck and into the wheelchair.
“Dr. Kenley has been notified.” The nurse told Rosalee, as they settled her into the chair. “She should be here by the time we get you in the delivery room.”
Rosalee screamed out in pain as a strong contraction hit.
“Her water just broke.” The nurse said. “Let’s get her inside.”
GRIMM[][][][][]GRIMM
An hour later, the waiting room was filled with Monroe’s and Rosalee’s friends.
“Daddy.” Diana said, as she crawled into the man’s lap. “How long does it take to have a baby? I want to see him.”
“There’s no set time, Sweetheart.” Sean told her. “Some babies are delivered faster then others.”
“You were born pretty quickly after I went into labor.” Adalind told her daughter. “Kelly took more time meeting the world, but not much more.”
“This is Monroe’s baby we’re talking about here though.” Nick told the young girl. “So he’s probably going to be extremely stubborn and take his time.”
“Rosalee said that Monroe was the most stubborn person she knows.” Diana informed the man.
“Phyliss had five children.” Bud said. “And each birth was different.”
A nurse walked into the room. Everyone stood up and walked over to her.
“Mother and son are doing great.” The nurse said. “There where no complications and the baby is very healthy.”
Then she smiled and added. “The father is a little green around the gills though. We thought he was going to pass out there for a few moments.”
“Is Monroe sick?” A worried Diana asked.
“No Honey.” Nick chuckled. “Being a new Daddy can be scary, Monroe was just nervous.”
“But he’s okay?” Diana wanted to know. She really liked Monroe, he was nice. And funny.
“Yes, he’s just fine.” Nick assured the girl.
“If you come with me, I will take you to the nursery so you can see the new baby.” The nurse said.
She led the group down a long hallway and stopped in front of a large window. Several bassinets were on the other side of the window.
Sean picked Diana up so she could get a better view.
“Awwww.” The young girl said. “They are so cute.”
They saw Monroe further in the room, his back was to them. A few moments later, the man walked over to the glass and proudly showed them the small baby he held in his strong arms.
“I never knew a man could look delighted and terrified at the same time.” Wu remarked.
“I see what you mean about him looking green in the gills.” Hank told the nurse.
“He’s so tiny.” Diana said.
“He’ll grow.” Sean said. “But you have to remember that you have to be really careful around him until he does grow some. Babies are very delicate.”
“I know, Daddy.” Diana said. “Rosalee told me that babies have a soft spot on their heads so that their brains can grow. And that you have to be careful with them.”
“Rosalee was correct.” Sean told his daughter.
“She also said that Monroe didn’t have that soft spot when he was a baby and that his brain forgot to grow.” Diana said with a soft laugh.
“She was correct about that as well.” Nick replied.
“Would you like to go see Rosalee now?” The nurse asked.
“Yes, that would be great.” Adalind said. “Thank you.”
The nurse led them down another hallway and showed them to one of the rooms. There, they found Rosalee lying in bed. She looked tired, but happy.
“Hey, Rosalee.” Adalind greeted her friend, leaning over the bed and hugging her.
“How are you feeling?” Nick asked, as he too hugged her.
“Good.” The new Mother smiled. “A little tired and sore, but I feel fantastic.”
“We saw your baby.” Diana said. “He’s really cute.”
“Thank you, Diana.” Rosalee smiled at the girl.
The door opened and Monroe walked in, carrying his son in his arms.
“Friends.” Monroe said, holding the baby so they could all see him. “I present Fredric Bart. Fredric after Rosalee’s brother and Bart after my Dad.”
“That’s a great name.” Nick said.
“Bud.” Monroe said. “I want to thank you, man. I was totally freaking out, but you remained calm and got Rosalee to the hospital. Thank you.”
“Not a problem.” Bud said. “After five kids, I’m kinda of an expert.”

Nick, Adalind, and Diana walked into their house. Nick was carrying Kelly.
“I don’t know about you.” Diana said. “But I am too tired to cook. How does Chinese sound?”
“Sounds great.” Nick replied. “Why don’t you order, while I fix Kelly something. I don’t think he’s ready for Chinese yet.”
“I’m going to go watch cartoons.” Diana said.
“No your not.” Nick said. “Rember, you are grounded from t.v today.”
“Oh.” Diana pouted. “I forgot.” Then she gave the man her most innocent smile. “Can I please watch…..”
“No, Diana.” Nick cut her off. “No t.v.”
“Yes Sir.” Diana said sadly.
“Hey.” Nick smiled at her. “How about I order some of those chocolate eclairs to go with the Chinese?”
“The ones with cream fillings?” Diana asked, also smiling.
“Yep.” Nick said.
“I love those.” The young girl said.
“Go on and play, we’ll call you when it’s here.” Nick said.
“Okay.” Diana rushed from the room.
“Softy.” Adalind sighed, shaking her head.
“I know.” Nick admitted.
“I love you, even if you are a softy.” Diana said, leaning forward to kiss him.
“I love you too.” Nick replied, returning the kiss.
