It’s Caitlyn Kiramman’s World - And We’re Just Living In It.

Forbes’ Luxanna Crownguard sits down with popstar Caitlyn Kiramman in a rare, one-on-one experience during Kiramman’s world tour preparations. 

 

It’s rare, nowadays, to find yourself in the presence of some of the last bastions of the celebrity culture of old. There is a distance that was once held between fan and celebrity that is lost in this age of immediacy, connection, and social media. I often find myself wondering if I am simply becoming too jaded for a job in the entertainment world; my criticisms of contemporary celebrity culture are no new thing, and it is difficult for me to accept that the definition of what makes someone a celebrity has been - and will forever be - changed. Which is why I was so struck by my experience meeting Caitlyn Kiramman for the first time. 

I was invited by Kiramman’s camp to attend a prep session in advance of her upcoming world tour, and initially, I was hesitant. As I’ve already said, I long for the days where distance was maintained between the celebrity and their audience, of which I am a member of, in this case. I view Kiramman as an almost untouchable figure; she is old money, a talented and beautiful yet aloof individual whose music speaks for her most of the time. Although she does maintain a social media presence, a polite separation is held between her and her fans - she does not interact with their comments or posts (though she assures me she sees and appreciates them). 

All of this is to say that I was unsure if I wanted to lose the proverbial wall that separated me from this icon of the pop music world. Ultimately, curiosity - and journalistic ambition - won out, and I found myself on a flight to Piltover within the week. I’ve written about Kiramman before, but this, of course, would be different. 

Upon arriving to the prep session, I was immediately greeted by Kiramman’s manager, Viktor Blitzcrank, who explained to me what the day would look like. To my surprise, I was given full access to the space and was assured that no questions were off the table, though Caitlyn was free to refuse to answer. It was better than anything I had been given by celebrity managers previously, and I was invigorated and confident heading into the experience. 

And then I met Caitlyn. 

To say she is breathtaking is an understatement. She stands right around 6 feet tall, certainly taller than my - respectable - 5 foot 3. Her hair is so black it appears blue, and her eyes are a bright blue that immediately draw you in. She has a soft smile that feels welcoming, albeit distant - it is clear she is a practiced public figure. 

Speaking of which, it is immediately clear that this woman is related to Congresswoman Cassandra Kiramman. While yes, physically they share many characteristics, there is a stoicism both women hold, a posture that is rigid and professional that can only come from generations of pedigree and prestige. I was transfixed when I met Congresswoman Kiramman last year, and I found myself transfixed when meeting her daughter, as well. 

Despite my very obvious fangirling, Kiramman welcomed me warmly and invited me to watch as she wrapped up some choreo practice, as though this would calm me down and make things easier. It’s quickly clear that Kiramman is at home on stage; she dances with a fluidity and control that makes even her mistakes seem intentional. She keeps an eye on the audience - or where they would be, had I not been an audience of one - and seems to perform as though millions are always watching. 

I wonder if that’s because, for her, millions are always watching. 

After her practice concluded, I was ushered to a comfortable sitting room to wait while Kiramman showered and wrapped up final discussions. She rushed in about 15 minutes later, apologizing for making me wait. When I mentioned other artists had made me wait hours in the past so it was no big deal, she apologized on their behalf too. 

“I’d like to start out by asking you about your world tour,” was my first topic. “How do you feel going into your third one, after releasing your most successful album yet?”

Kiramman paused for a while at this point, before smiling at me as though she had some great secret that I knew immediately I would never be privy to. “Well,” she started, “I’ve never gone into a tour feeling so completely me. I feel like… well, like I’ve finally sorted out the things I thought I’d have to sacrifice to make it where I wanted to make it in this business.”

I asked her to elaborate on that, and she regaled me with a long discussion on building a career for herself that was separate from her family name and allowed her to be what she wanted to be, not what others expected her to be because of her mother’s politics or station.

“And,” she said after a moment, “I’m finally allowing myself to have people around me that I want around me. I’ve learned recently that being an artist doesn’t mean solitude is your lot in life.”

“And how have you learned that?” I asked, notepad long abandoned on the table in front of me. Caitlyn has a way of speaking that draws you in; she’s passionate and eager, but even, cool, and genuinely interested in fostering a conversation with you. When she began to speak about support systems, her tone changed - a smile on her face the main reason for this. 

“I’ve just had some people - someone in particular - enter my life recently, and they’ve reminded me that the best of us are those who allow themselves to feel everything and shy away from nothing. I’m going into this world tour realizing that I don’t have to - and really never have had to - do any of this alone.”

“Someone in particular?” I pressed, for my curiosity and yours, dear reader. 

She smiled at me, shrugged, and said “Isn’t life just a never ending series of different someones coming into our lives and turning things on their heads?”

It was perhaps the nicest way I’ve ever been told to move the hell on from a line of questioning. 

I am not one to speculate on an individual’s personal life - it blurs those celebrity-audience lines I was lamenting the loss of earlier. As a fan of Kiramman’s I, of course, have my suspicions, but this article is not the forum for those. I leave this one in your hands, Twitter fangirls. 

After chatting for a while longer about everything from food, to her mother’s congressional campaign, to the merits of owning a Roomba (“I promise you, it’ll change your life” was her review), I wrapped up my time with Caitlyn and headed back to my hotel. 

I went into this experience hoping for an interview with a larger than life figure that was juicy and quoteworthy, something that I could pin to my lapel and wear proudly around the celebrity journalism spaces. Instead, I met a woman. A woman who was unequivocally human, kind, and intelligent. A woman who allowed me into her space and graciously offered me over an hour of conversation with her, despite having just come off grueling tour preparations. I can see, though I have never met her before, that this is a Caitlyn Kiramman who is ready to tackle this world tour with an enthusiasm and grace we’ve never seen from her before. 

So yes, while I do miss the long dead, larger-than-life celebrity figure, my day with Caitlyn Kiramman makes me wonder if perhaps there is a middle ground between what once was, and what is now. And I think that middle ground may be this woman. 

Caitlyn Kiramman is truly one of a kind, and I think she might only just be getting started.

More than Friends? What’s Really Going on Between Caitlyn and Vi

It’s hard to go anywhere nowadays without hearing about entertainment’s new favourite duo, Caitlyn Kiramman and Vi Warwick. A seemingly unlikely pairing, Kiramman and Warwick first caught our attention after the announcement that their duet cover of Kiramman’s smash hit “Potential” would be featured on the upcoming Punk Goes Pop album. Initially, the two interacted casually and sporadically on social media, sparking dating rumours from no one aside from a few of the most dedicated fangirls.

Recently, however, the two have seemed to be growing closer - a LOT closer. In September, Kiramman and Warwick were spotted grabbing coffee with each other in a moment that would result in many crowning them the new celebrity besties everyone would love to hang out with. It doesn’t stop there, either; over the past few months, the pair have repeatedly been seen out in public together. Most famously, the two spent a night out with friends at Babette, one of the longest running queer clubs in Zaun [ARTICLE: Gay-tlyn Kiramman? Fans have become increasingly curious about the nature of the relationship between the two, though there’s been nothing concrete enough to point to as “proof,” so to speak. 

That is, until November 29th. 

Two days ago, paparazzi photos of Kiramman and Warwick sharing a rather intimate goodbye outside of Kiramman’s home surfaced. Though a hug and a stroke of the cheek can be - and often is - entirely platonic, fans feel that a relationship between the two is not only possible, but likely. Kiramman further stoked these fires in an previous sit down interview with Forbes Magazine, where she insinuated that she had someone new in her life and played coy when the interviewer attempted to get her to explain further. 

It is worth noting here that Caitlyn Kiramman, unlike Vi, has provided no definitive statement one way or another about her sexuality. Though there a significant portion of her fans identify as LGBTQ+, and Caitlyn has expressed support for multiple queer rights events, movements, and charities [PHOTOS: Caitlyn Kiramman Stuns at GLAAD Media Awards], she has never spoken on whether she is an ally or a member of the community. 

This is not necessarily a surprise, of course; Caitlyn has notoriously espoused a desire for privacy after spending much of her childhood in the spotlight due to her mother’s role as Congresswoman. She maintains a cool distance between herself and fans on most personal matters, unlike Warwick, who is extremely open about her identity and the struggles she’s faced because of it. 

All of this is to say that any sort of statement on sexuality or relationship status seems unlikely to come from Kiramman’s camp - and by extension, Warwick’s as well. As the release of their duet looms, you’ll likely find these two at the front of your favourite entertainment news sites and magazines, but don’t expect a definitive answer. For now, speculation and assumptions will have to suffice.

We Should Probably Talk About Speculation

Hey everyone. So, I’m gonna do my best to keep this from getting overly preachy or angry, because I don’t think that’ll inspire a useful and productive conversation here. 

I don’t think I’m the only one who’s been feeling really… icky about some of the conversations going on online re: Caitlyn and Vi from Trenchers. I understand that fandom will fandom and that speculation is sort of a side effect of any major gathering space for people who enjoy the same content, but this stuff has now spread to news sites and popular media, and I’m kind of worried about what that might cause. 

For those of you who maybe haven’t seen, multiple articles have come out, all speculating to some degree about the nature of the relationship between our favourite popstar and Vi Warwick (you can read a few here , here , and here). There have also been paparazzi photos of the two of them in magazines a few times now. At first, a lot of the conversations (outside of Twitter and Tumblr and the other popular fandom spaces) assumed that they were just two new friends who had bonded over the song they’re releasing soon. But things have changed a LOT recently, and people seem to like, really legitimately believe that they might be together. 

And look, I’m not suggesting they are or aren’t with this post; really, I don’t caaaaaare. If they are, cool, good for them! If they aren’t, cool, good for them! What I’m mostly concerned about is them seeing all this speculation and feeling uncomfortable and then subsequently re-evaluating every public interaction they have with a friend going forward. 

I don’t know, maybe I’m overly protective of Caitlyn’s peace. Maybe I’m reminiscing about the wonder days of being outed in high school and feeling miserable for years afterward. Who knows! All I really want to get across with this post (and, hopefully, the discussion that’ll ensue in the comments) is that speculation about sexuality and relationships - particularly of someone who has stated they DON’T want it to happen - is probably not really all that great. 

But idk, thoughts? Am I overreacting?

Hey! Definitely don’t think you’re overreacting here; I’ve been feeling kinda weird about it all too. Realistically, I know there’s not really anything us lowly fans can do about it, but I just hope that we can maybe keep this space pretty speculation-free so that there’s at least one space I can feel comfortable engaging with fans in.

I’m not sure it’s all that deep, honestly. If they were REALLY so concerned about it all, I’m sure they wouldn’t be, like, hugging on the streets and stuff when they definitely knew paparazzi would be watching. Like, hello, you’re literally in front of Caitlyn’s house! Obviously someone is gonna see.

Yeah, I have to agree with u/rainbowriotgrrrl. They really aren’t hiding anything, and I think it would be great if a celebrity of Caitlyn’s caliber came out! Imagine the young people she could help by doing that.

Okay but like, you two understand that both C and V are humans and not fodder for people to sell to magazines or base their own identities off of, right? It really doesn’t matter whether they’re “hiding anything” or not because that’s not the point! The point is that they should be able to live their lives and do what they want WITHOUT having to worry about being placed under a microscope.

And also, and I think this is more important than a lot of things, Caitlyn’s mother is in a major political position and so anything that Caitlyn does - or is perceived to have done - influences her mother’s career. Cassandra’s currently running against a misogynistic, homo-transphobic, right wing monster (M*rcus St*llwater, ugh don’t even want to write his name), and so any sort of plot twist or curve could threaten the campaign in a negative way. We need to think about the very real possibility of her losing due to some fence-sitters who might be angry enough about Caitlyn being gay that they decide to vote against her mom. This stuff has REAL implications, people.

Marcus Stillwater: “Your Skeletons are Much Bigger than Mine”

The congressional debate between Congresswoman Cassandra Kiramman and political hopeful Marcus Stillwater took place last night, and neither candidate pulled any punches.

 

Last night, Piltover was treated to its first congressional debate for council seat number 5 in over 20 years, as Marcus Stillwater took on long-serving Congresswoman Cassandra Kiramman. Viewers tuned in to what many assumed would be a heated, yet professional debate - and they were half right. The debate quickly devolved as moderator Amara Rohan lost control of Stillwater’s repeated jabs and attempts to stoke Kiramman’s ire. 

Initially, the debate was focused on the major issues. On the topic of low income housing in Zaun’s Shimmer Alley, Kiramman promised to fight for the development of new community housing units funded by a marginal tax increase. Stillwater focused on cracking down on drug usage through an increased enforcer presence in order to “clean up the area and inspire hire income families to move in and improve the burrough.” 

When prompted to discuss their plans for closing the gap between the Piltovan elite class and working citizens, Stillwater struck. He accused Kiramman of upholding the “quasi-oligarchy” that has monopolized congressional seats for many years; it is important to acknowledge that this criticism has been levied at the Kirammans - who have passed their congressional seat down for two generations now - as well as other prominent families in the city. Kiramman responded by agreeing with Stillwater, but ensuring that her position on the council is one of merit and proven results, not one borne out of nepotism and blind loyalty. At this point many assumed that this would be the most personal the debate would get - and they were wrong. 

When asked to speak on the importance of Piltover’s entertainment industry, Stillwater found his opening. As most are aware, Kiramman is the mother of pop megastar Caitlyn Kiramman, who has been the topic of conversation for many over the past few years. Stillwater capitalized on this and espoused some of his more radical views on music and film being employed as tools to indoctrinate children and threaten the “historical moral values of Piltover.” He claimed that even Kiramman’s own daughter presents “sexuality” to her audience and encourages them to listen to age inappropriate music. 

Kiramman, expectedly, pushed back on this, arguing that her daughter - and other artists - create art that they are proud of and that they know their audiences will enjoy, creating “strong friendships and community bonds by giving young people something wonderful to share.” She rejected claims that her daughter oversexualizes her audience, and that her music is honest, but not to an inappropriate degree. She encouraged Stillwater to “point to one person who does not have faults, one person who does not have skeletons in their closets.”

At this point, Stillwater struck. He accused Kiramman of having skeletons much bigger than his, and suggested that her daughter’s secrets had the potential to destroy her campaign entirely. He insinuated that the “recent company she’s decided to keep” speaks for itself, and should be taken seriously.

It’s not difficult to assume Stillwater was speaking about Vi Warwick, Kiramman’s newest companion and upcoming duet partner. Warwick - who is openly gay - has sparked dating rumors between herself and Kiramman, and Stillwater clearly has been made aware of this. Though he was smart enough to refrain from spelling it out - as this would certainly have crossed the line into conduct entirely inappropriate for a political debate - he made sure to spark just enough interest in the minds of viewers in a desperate attempt to bring some of Piltover’s more conservative fence-sitters to his side. 

Though updated polling numbers have not come in, and though most analysts do not believe this debate was enough for Stillwater to pull ahead, a shift is certain to happen, and the gap may be slowly closing between the electoral hopeful and the long-serving Cassandra Kiramman.

She’s Baiting All of You and You Need to Wake Up About It 

Now that news about the Potential music video featuring - presumably - Caitlyn, Vi and possibly all of her band has come out, I need to get this off my chest.

Am I the only one who can see this for what it is???!!? Caitlyn’s clearly baiting ALL of her queer fans with this Vi garbage. Idk what member of her PR team came up with this, but it’s gonna backfire horribly. You all really think that Caitlyn’s gay? Or even bisexual? *rolls eyes* puh-lease. They’ve obviously figured out that this single will sell way better if they can convince people there’s some kind of sexual/romantic thing going on behind the scenes, and you’re all falling for it. 

Caitlyn has given no indication she’s into women at all and now all of a sudden she’s being seen out with Vi constantly?????? And paparazzi just happen to be there?? I hope she loses her career over this, as an ACTUAL gay, I’m sickened by this stunt.

So many things with this one. First of all, presuming you know ANYTHING about Caitlyn, her sexuality, or her personal life is exactly the kind of parasocial shit that should be avoided. We literally had a conversation like a week ago about speculating about her life beyond music specific shit. Doing this just results in infighting, thinly veiled homophobia, and accusations being thrown wildly at someone who has literally done nothing wrong!

Also, do you understand how stupid this accusation is the exact year Caitlyn’s mom is having to defend her congressional seat against someone who’s openly homophobic. Not only would Caitlyn’s PR team know that a stunt like this could leave her open to attacks from Marcus Stillwater’s supporters, there’s just no way they’d ever pull off such a risky stunt in this big of a year for Caitlyn and her family. 

Finally, how shitty are you gonna feel if it does turn out that Caitlyn’s queer/ in a relationship with Vi? I’m going to assume you’re a fan and engaging with this subreddit in good faith; if so, your insistence upon her not being queer feels like some desperate attempt to cling to a Caitlyn that only exists in your mind. I’m gonna gently encourage you to remember that she is a human person who we all - no matter how much we love her - do not know. I repeat: NONE of us know her. You’d do well to remember that. 

I hope that you really take a long look at what you’ve said here and perhaps start thinking about celebrities as humans who you can’t just sling your ridiculous crack theories on for no reason. Do better.

I’m writing to you about this before I speak with anyone else (save Vi) because I think this will affect you as much as it will affect me, and I believe I owe it to you to get your opinion on this.

And so I’m writing this to you to let you know that I will be coming out, most certainly by the end of this year, but I am willing to hold it off until your re-election campaign has concluded. I am a Kiramman first, and I know that our legacy trumps our personal satisfactions and comforts. So please know that I am happy to take your lead and the lead of your team on this.

I’ve done my best your whole life to raise you with the values I hoped you’d embody when you grew up and went off into this world on your own. But unfortunately, it seems I have failed. Not at raising you up to be a spectacular young woman - of that, I have succeeded. I have failed you in somehow making you think that the legacy of our family at all takes priority over your happiness. 

For this, I am so deeply sorry.

My love, your existence as a Kiramman should not, and does not, ever come before your existence as Caitlyn. Our legacy could crumble tomorrow, I could lose my seat on the council and subsequently everything our family has worked so hard for, and you would still be Caitlyn. My beautiful, compassionate, caring daughter who deserves to live the kind of life she wants to live. 

And so, if you’ll excuse my crudeness, fuck my campaign. If you come out and I lose my seat, then this is not a city I want to represent. If this is not a city who can accept my daughter for exactly who she is, Marcus can have the seat; he’ll crumble under the pressure in no time, anyways. 

I spoke to Violet the last time the two of you were over, and she told me that you’re the most courageous and strong person she’s ever met. I have to agree; your conviction trumps even my own, and your life is one that you have forged and fought for. 

If you feel this is the right time for you to come out, to share your truth with the world, go for it. You have my support. You’ll have my campaign’s support. You’ll have our community’s support. I have to believe that sitting on this council for as long as I have has resulted in some kind of change I can be proud of, and now is the time to figure out if that’s true. 

Your father and I love you so much, and whatever you think is best for you is what we think is best for you too.

A Long Overdue Letter

I’d like to begin this letter by letting you all know that I am going to be completely honest with you throughout this piece. And, in the spirit of honesty, I feel compelled to tell you all that I have never been so terrified in my life as I am right now, writing this. I imagine I’ll be even more terrified once the letter is published and out in the world (which, if you’re reading this, it is). 

I’ve been in the spotlight since I was a child; one of the first photos my parents have of me is a paparazzi photo of my mother carrying me out of the hospital. There’s something rather exposing about a life like that. I’ve always been well aware that no matter what I do in life, I’ll always have an audience, always have a group of people ready to share their opinions on everything I do. That’s a scary thing. It may seem odd, then, that I would pick a career that effectively exposed me to an even larger audience, an even grander group of people whose opinions I am at the mercy of. I can see the irony in all of this.

As a child though, music was the only thing that was truly mine. The way I dressed, the company I kept, the schools I went to, my extracurriculars - all of these things were dictated by the lifestyle and legacy of my family, both of which I had always felt a responsibility to uphold. Not music though; music was mine. In my music, I could write down what I felt, play the piano to match my mood, listen to the songs that connected to me . I didn’t have to share it with anyone - in fact, it was expected I kept it to myself, as emotions and vulnerability in politics (of which I was an unwilling part of) are weaknesses and points of exploitation. My music was something that I could fully and completely control no matter what else was expected of me.

And so I look at my career not as another loss of privacy and control, but as the one thing in my life I can control, the one thing that is really, truly mine. As honest and open as I am in my songwriting, I am only as open and honest as I am willing to be with my fans at any point in time. I hold back just as much as I let out, and for me, that’s an unbelievable reclamation of power that I’ve never truly had. 

I’d like to take a moment, here, to reassure you all that none of this is the fault of my parents. Through my childhood, they did their absolute best to shield me from the worst of things, to encourage my interests, and to ensure I got to, well, be a kid. No, it is the fault of this gargantuan media wheel that only spins when it has stories to exploit. So much of the sensationalized media industry relies on wresting power from the most vulnerable public figures for the sake of headlines, clicks, ridicule, whatever. I think it’s a beautiful thing when someone can pull some of that power back from the media, and that’s what this is an attempt to do. 

Back to what I was saying, my privacy has, in a roundabout way, been protected by my life as a highly public figure. I’ve become incredibly versed in giving audiences exactly what they need to think they know everything, but keeping the things that matter most to me close to my chest. There’s two problems with this, though. First, when you keep something so deeply private, you eventually go mad with the inability to shout how much it means to you from the rooftops. Second, when your audience is something that matters deeply to you, as well, keeping things from them feels like you’re living a lie. And that doesn’t feel good. 

What I’m trying to say is that I haven’t felt good for a while - maybe for my entire career. I’ve been keeping a huge secret from everyone but the ones who are closest to me, and it’s becoming simply too much to bear anymore. For a long time, it was manageable; I compartmentalized, convinced myself that the benefits of keeping it a secret outweighed the benefits of telling everyone. I feared the risks that came with sharing this secret with such a large audience. Those voices that expressed opinions on everything I’ve done my whole life would amplify tenfold if I ever shared this. I told myself all of this, and after a while, I convinced myself that, yes, this was a secret best left unshared. 

And then I met someone. 

It’s a funny thing, love. It rearranges everything you thought was important to you and paints it in an entirely new light. It kicks down doors you’ve locked, breaks down walls you’ve built up; it, quite honestly, flips everything you thought you knew on its head. I had always figured that love was another thing I’d want to keep close to me, in the way that I kept all my other important things rather close. But that wasn’t true. The longer things went on and the further I fell, the more I felt this desperate need to tell everyone who’d be willing to listen. I suddenly wanted to share my deepest secret, if for no other reason than to be able to tell everyone just how much I loved my person. 

This is probably the right time to actually share the secret I’ve been talking about, right? I apologize for burying it this deeply; there was quite a lot I wanted to explain before talking about this specifically. So, here it goes: 

I’m a lesbian. 

I think some of you - some of the most dedicated internet sleuths in my fan community - have probably been speculating on this for a while, and for that, I don’t fault you. I haven’t exactly  been keeping it as secret as I once was. This, however, felt necessary; to put it in words, to ensure that my sexuality cannot be twisted into something more palatable for the masses because I left it at speculation was crucial for me to do for my own sanity and joy. My identity is here, spelled out in a single sentence, so that no one can take it away from me. 

I’ve been out to my parents since I was 14, to myself since I was 12. I’ve always known that this is who I was, but I likewise was always aware that it would rest rather uncomfortably alongside my life as a Kiramman. I had resolved myself to always living it quietly, or perhaps palatably once I was sufficiently older and my mother’s tenure as a congressperson had concluded. I had just assumed my parents would be in agreement with this, since it would certainly make their lives much easier. 

How silly I was. When I told my mother about my desire to write this letter, I assured her I would be willing to hold off on publishing it until her re-election campaign had concluded to reduce any… vitriol? Derision? Scrutiny? She might receive. To my surprise, none of this had concerned her whatsoever. It turns out, during my decades of letting this conundrum fester in my brain, my parents’ only concern had been with my happiness and my ability to live the life that I felt best about living. What a surprise, right? Sometimes just talking things out with people makes the situation a lot more manageable. 

So here I am, laying it out in front of you. Would I have been writing this had I not met my girlfriend? Hard to say. I can’t speak to what might have happened, I can only speak to what has happened and how it makes me feel, and right now, I feel pretty great. I hope that all of you can understand why this has taken me so long to share and why I, even now, am concerned about what the reaction will be. 

More importantly, though, I hope that some of my fans who may feel the same way can know, for a certainty, that they are not alone. You have a place in my community, you have always had a place in my community. You are valid, you are seen, and, most importantly, you were right about your theories that my songs were about women (psst, they always were). 

So, yes. This is my long overdue letter to all of you. This is me finally being truthful about this and hoping that you’ll, in turn, be understanding as to why it took me so long to share this with everyone. 

And, to you, because I know you’re reading this right now (even though you helped me write it), I love you. I love you more than I’ve ever loved anyone before, and I know that you know this. You’ve changed my world completely, but you’ve also only ever accepted me for exactly who I am. I don’t know what weird universal shift happened to drop you on my doorstep, but I’ll be forever grateful it did. Thank you.

Kiramman Spotted Out for the First Time Post Coming Out Letter

Almost a month ago, pop sensation Caitlyn Kiramman came out in a lengthy letter published in People Magazine [ARTICLE: Caitlyn Kiramman Comes Out as Gay]. Since then, the popstar has laid incredibly low - in fact, no one has seen her in public since the letter was published. It’s no surprise that Kiramman might have wanted some time away from the spotlight after such a massive event; it’s worth noting that she’s also going on tour this June, so some time away is not entirely unexpected or surprising [ARTICLE: Caitlyn Kiramman is Going on Tour Again!]. 

This past weekend, however, fans were finally graced with Kiramman’s presence once again! Paparazzi snapped the star leaving a restaurant with rumored - read: confirmed - girlfriend, Vi Warwick. The two kept their hoods up as they made their way through the crowd of awaiting paparazzi to their car, a scowl on Warwick’s face. The pair were hounded by fans and photographers alike, and one source reports that they looked overwhelmed by the size of the crowd. 

“Caitlyn definitely looked nervous,” our source says, “She’s always so confident, but she’s absolutely feeling the effects of being laid so bare in front of the entire world. Vi just seemed angry and protective - she guided Caitlyn into the car and kept her away from most of the cameras as much as possible.”

Though Kiramman received an outpouring of support after the publishing of her letter, she has faced detractors, as is expected [ARTICLE: Marcus Stillwater Targets the “Homo-Hollywood Agenda”]. Regardless, her tour is on, as planned, and sources close to her indicate her excitement for it has not waned in the slightest.

Cassandra Kiramman Re-Elected to Piltovan Congress

“Piltover is upheld by its citizens. It is maintained, cared for, pushed forward through their individuality. It is strengthened by our commitment to each other.”  

 

Yesterday, Piltover watched as Congresswoman Cassandra Kiramman was re-elected to Piltovan congress in a decisive victory against her most recent challenger, Marcus Stillwater. Earning 64% of the vote, Kiramman’s victory is indicative of a larger trend, one which suggests Piltover is - slowly but surely - inching toward progress, change, and genuine care for its citizens. 

Though Kiramman’s policies have always leaned left of center, her recent campaign centred specific policies aimed at bettering the lives of Piltover’s most vulnerable. Kiramman spoke often and at length about her desires to improve the lives of those living in Zaun through government funding, social programs, and support for charter schools. She also highlighted her desire to invest in the arts and youth programs to bolster Piltover’s youngest. Her campaign focused strongly on specific, measurable goals that she clearly aims to achieve. 

It would be naive to suggest that this hard left turn Kiramman took was entirely uninfluenced by any external factors. Certainly, two major things lent themselves heavily to the structuration of Kiramman’s campaign, as well as the social rhetoric surrounding it. 

For one, Kiramman ran against perhaps the most heavily far-right political hopeful in Piltover’s political scene since Baron Silco (who, coincidentally, was also defeated by Kiramman roughly two decades ago). Marcus Stillwater proved to be his own worst enemy during this election cycle; his dedication to sensationalized political goals, manufactured social outrage, and the stoking of moral and ethical fears worked to his detriment. Though Stillwater did attract a not insignificant amount of dedicated followers, projections - and the eventual results - continuously told a separate story than his social media engagement numbers did. The campaign was - if you’ll excuse my pun - dead in the (Still)water.

The other, arguably more significant social factor surrounding Kiramman’s campaign was her daughter Caitlyn, who came out as gay in the months leading up to the election. In a heartfelt letter published in People Magazine, Kiramman spoke at length about her experience coming out in high society and having to balance her identity - as a queer woman - with her identity - as the daughter of a high ranking official. Caitlyn’s coming out has been the story of the year - as has her relationship with Trenchers frontwoman, Vi Warwick. Clearly, this influenced Kiramman’s campaign, as she continuously emphasized her support for her daughter’s relationship, sexuality, and career throughout the process. In her re-election acceptance speech, Kiramman said the following:

 

“And to my daughter, Caitlyn, I believe that this campaign could not have found the success it had without you. Your commitment to living your life as authentically and joyfully as you do has reassured me that the things I am fighting for as a politician are worth it. The people I am fighting for are worth it. I have always dedicated my career to upholding the values I believe in, and I can only hope to continue to do this in my next term as Congresswoman. My daughter, and people like her, rely on the continued forward march of progress, and I aim to carry our city through into the future.”

 

Though Caitlyn was not present due to her ongoing world tour, this moment was met with raucous support from the crowd. Though Kiramman does, certainly, represent a perhaps bygone era of aristocracy in Piltovan politics, her goals and political promises reflect the desires of Piltovan society to diversify the city and ensure a safe, prosperous life for everyone. It stands to see whether Kiramman is able to achieve all of her goals with a still rather traditionalist congress in front of her, but it is a certainty that her upcoming term will be marked with earnest fights for progress and change.
