Unusual Friendships

Chapter 4: Science Gurlies Trio

Chapter Text

Universe: Cyberverse
Trio: Starscream, Wheeljack, Arcee
Placement: After the war
Information: At a convention for scientists post war, Wheeljack dragged Arcee along for fun

“I really don’t understand why I have to go, science is not my thing!” Arcee groaned as Wheeljack dragged her along, since Optimus and Megatron started seeking peace both Decepticons and Autobots alike were expected to be nice to each other, some (most) Decepticons disagreed, especially Star Scream who had no interest in befriending an ‘inferiour being to himself’.

“Well I would rather not be alone, all those Decepticons” Wheeljack shuttered slightly, the two walked in silence until they got to where the science ‘get together’ was being held.

“What is that?” Arcee asked Wheeljack while point at an oddly shaped disc, Wheeljack laughed and shrugged.

“Most of these are new to me too!” He smiled at her, she did not look pleased, she was very uncomfortable, very very uncomfortable. She looked at her former enemies, remembering the fighting that occurred.

Wheeljack was blabbering on about some weird inventions to her but she barely paid any kind of attention, though she wished she did, perhaps then what happened next… would not have happened. It wasn't even her fault, but walking and knocking over Star Scream (by accident!) was not on her to do list.

“I’m so sorry” Arcee reluctantly said and put out her servo to help him up, even if she didn't want to.

Star Scream grumbled smacking her servo away, “Back off!” he screeched, which really hurt her audio receptors. She flinched and covered them with her servos, Star Scream stood up glaring down at her, “Why are you here” he demanded.

“I’m just here with Wheeljack” she mumbled out rubbing the sides of her helm, “And why are you here?” she asked back, she wasn’t too familiar with what Star Scream used to do before the war, she felt kinda stupid when he pulled a ‘are you dumb?’ face at her.

“Well for your information, I used to be a scientist, so I am here to see what scrap bots are making now” he answered, quietly this time, noticing the pain his screeching caused the femme.

Wheeljack came over and looked up at Star Scream, “Hi” he muttered out then checked on Arcee, Star Scream found it quite rude, he just grumbled, “Wait why are you of all bots here?” Wheeljack asked curiosity lacing his words.

“Well for your information I used to be a scientist before becoming the Seekers full time leader” he replied and Wheeljack nodded, “I also have a respect for scientists” he added.

“I see..” Wheeljack pondered for a few nano-kilks, “Wanna walk around with me and Arcee?” he asked, Star Scream didn't say anything for a milk before coughing.

“Uh.. sure I guess” he agreed, but that doesn’t make the two autobots his friends, right? Friendship doesn't work like that, well not to Star Screams knowledge, or lack there of knowledge. He never was good with the whole friendship thing, he was only friends with other Seekers so this was a new concept for him.

The three walked around, talking about all the science equipment around, Arcee attempting to add but failing at some points, luckily Wheeljack helped her with her points, which she was grateful for.

Even when the event ended the three still walked around the city together, enjoying the others company, it was weird to the random bots passing by, not knowing why the three were hanging out, let alone talking to each other. Star Scream enjoyed the two autobots company, he finally had a better understanding why bots have friends, he was having.. fun.

“And thats when Wheeljack over here blew up half the arc” Arcee finished her story, Wheeljack smirked and Star Scream gave a low laugh, they continued speaking of past adventures being on different sides, two completely different factions, it was bizarre how close the three got in the few cycles they were together, especially for Star Scream who honestly got bored of bots easily, but in his terms, these two Autobots were different, he couldn't place it he just knew he wouldn't get bored of them anytime soon.

___

The three hung out constantly for solar cycles, they became closer with each conversation and for once Star Scream felt seen, someone was finally listening and taking in the information, he would've been grateful for one bot, but two was a bonus, two friends he felt worthy of being around, two best friends he knows he’ll never backstab like all the other ‘friends’ he had in the past.

Star Scream was constantly around, at first it made the other Autobots uncomfortable considering the damage he alone caused, but they soon got used to his presence being there constantly. He didn't care about them, he only cared for Wheeljack and Arcee, the truest friends he’s had in a long time.

___

Another day on Cypertron rolled around, the trio were yet again hanging out, talking about random scrap as they have been doing for a few solar cycles now. Being friends with each other has helped other bots become friends, saying ‘well if Star Scream can do it so can we!’, definitely didn’t sting hearing that.

“Okay Star, what is wrong?” Wheeljack stopped, turning around to look at him fully, “You’ve been sighing for a cycle” Wheeljack added, Arcee nodding in agreement.

“Nothing nothing, just.. Its grateful sighs” he confesses, the two bots looked at each other then back to the Seeker.

“Why exactly?” Arcee asked, curiosity heard blatantly in her words, Star Scream sat down, followed by the others soon after.

“Well, I’ve never been a bot for emotions but I’m grateful for you two, honestly never had friends that I didn’t betray or get betrayed by said friends, I’m just… happy.. for friends I can truly trust” Star Scream was also grateful no one was around so here his sappy words, bots can be very condescending when they want to be, was rather annoying.

Arcee and Wheeljack sat for a couple of nano-kilks, taking in what the Seeker said, he closed his optics waiting for the condescending laughter to start but instead felt two pairs of arms going around his chassis, a hug.

His optics opened glancing down at the non-sentimental bots being very cuddly, “You’re awesome Star, never forget that”

That moment, Star Scream truly knew, the one thing he didn’t know he was searching for, the one thing he didn’t know he required to make him feel this happiness.

Wheeljack and Arcee showed they were in fact his true friends. For once, no torture, no name calling, no Megatron being an aft.

He was… happy.
