One new email from Cole.
“Hey, here's today’s mission report. Reinhardt wants you to review it and send him a paper about the things we did right or wrong. Sorry ‘bout all this work, -Cass”
I groaned exhaustively and looked at the clock. The work given to new people at Overwatch was less than heroic, my dreams of rescuing people from rubble and taking down bad guys were quickly shot down after learning the real dangerous stuff had to be earned, and you couldn’t just start going on missions. You first had to have physical training, which kept things semi-interesting, letting me work on my new tech weapon but couldn’t beat the real thing.
The million and one different papers I had to finish by week's end swirled through my head as I anxiously tapped away on my pen, is this even worth it? The anxiety of work almost became too much before a knock on the door snapped me out.
“Yeah, who is it?” My heart sank thinking it was someone like Ana here to evaluate me on my work so far or lecture me on another incorrect paper but instead, I was greeted by a friendlier face.
“L/N, we have something important for you.” He said warmly with a smile. That deep gravelly voice and loud thumping footsteps could only belong to one person or animal.
“Winston! What’s the paperwork I have to fill out today.” I said jokingly, but deep down I dreaded having to hear what he had to say next.
“Aha, no paperwork today L/N, but we have a mission.”He barely got his words out before I was practically jumping up and down with excitement, then realized how unprofessional I looked and sat down.
“Really! Wow, where too?! What’s the job!? Is someone coming with me!!?”
“Just south of Colosseo, at the archeology dig site that has been attacked and raided by Talon the past few weeks. We were hoping to grow better connections with the organization that runs the operation, Wayfinder Society. There's someone there that piques our interest. Nevertheless-“ He blabbered. He kept talking about details of the mission and its history, but all I could think about was finally getting to leave this cramped office and the walls of filler work and getting to see real action!
The general summary of the one-hour-long discussion we had was that I would be sent to the dig site as a trained guard to help the efforts against Talon alongside another agent. Easy enough. So, I packed my bag and left for the airport as soon as possible. I found out the person accompanying me was D.VA or Hana Song. I've talked to her the most out of everyone because of my love of gaming and our general mutual taste of music.
This was going to be a blast I just knew it!
