Chapter 1: First child

Summary:

Jackie is a father. His first born child is Robbie-who’s mother is a young woman named Alicia, Jackie’s girlfriend. Though things turn on this chapter for Alicia’s reaction to their newborn son.

Chapter Text

Jackie watched as the doctors handed his newborn son to the nurses-who were easily dealing with him.

Jackie looked over at his girlfriend, seeming so proud and excited, "Babe! You did amazing!" He spoke softly.

"Shut up Jackie..." Alicia, Jackie's girlfriend huffs. Laying on the hospital bed tiredly.

Jackie frowns, but a smile goes back on his face as he sees the nurse come back with their baby. Yet, Alicia seemed too tired to carry him, so Jackie took the boy instead.

A wide smile grew on Jackie's face, gently rubbing the boy's back as he carried him in his arms, staring down at him "Aww, Alice look! He's so cute! What we gonna name him?"

Alicia looks over, her arms uncrossed as she stared at the boy. Something about his face looked off. She saw the way Jackie was caring for the kid, and inside she felt a bit jealous. A shrug is all she gave, "I don't know. Why don't you name him?"

"Hmm...How about Robbie? Robbie Jackleman!" Jackie spoke. Smiling widely as he hears the boy cooing up at him.

Soon a nurse came back to them, holding a paper as she smiles, "okay, I got the birth certificate ready...there's just one thing...we examined him and there's some-some unique things about little Robbie."

The couple looked at each other before turning back to the nurse, nodding softly for her to keep going, Robbie sleeping peacefully in Jackie's arms.

"Um...was there by any chance consumption of alcohol while mom was pregnant?"

Jackie was about to answer, "No, there was-"

"Yeah I took some shots and drank a bit. I didn't think it'd be too much of a trouble to just have a couple of drinks. Why?" Alicia said honestly. She didn't see Jackie's confused face.

The nurse did though. She blinked but puts on a small smile, "Well your son shows symptoms of FASD, or also know as Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders...but there are ways to help him. It's just that he may struggle while growing up. He has some facial abnormalities that may stand him out. He may have poor coordination, difficulty with memory or attention when he's older, he may have learning difficulties and speech delays. There are a number of things, but with proper communication with his doctor and a healthy house hold, I'm sure he'll strive when he's older."

Jackie listened, he looks down at his newborn son. Jackie gently kissed his head and nods, "I'm sure we can work it out and help Robbie as much as we can...thank you so much."

Alicia though, she looked at her new son, a new found disgust about what she heard-knowing her son was going to be standing out more-and to her it was in the worst way possible. It wasn't the perfect child she wanted.

As soon as the nurse left for them to be alone, Jackie avoided looking at Alicia. Just focused on Robbie, watching him sleep peacefully, "You seriously drank while pregnant?? Alicia, the doctor literally told you about this! He told you, you can't drink! When did you even drink? Cause I don't remember seeing you drunk"

Alicia just rolls her eyes, "I didn't think even the smallest bit could effect him! I drank in secret-when you left to your little trip on Italy, I hung around John for the time and we drank just a little"

Jackie huffed, "he should've known better than give you alcohol. Now our son is gonna be suffering because you decided you couldn't keep your urges in!"

"You know what, I'm done talking about this. You're acting like he's the only victim here Jackie. I'm also gonna suffer from this! I have a child that's mentally ill! You know what! I'm tired. Let me sleep!"

Jackie gaped at what his girlfriend said. He huffed, turning away from Alicia as Robbie began to cry. Clearly woken up by the argument. Jackie gently shushed him, rocking the boy a bit, 'she's probably just saying that out of emotions...right?'

Couple months later:

"That's it...yeah come to me! You got this!" Jackie watched as Robbie was finally attempting to walk more. After so many months of crawling-his boy finally was trying to walk.

Yet he wasn't quite there yet, as Robbie fell after a couple of steps. Jackie quickly caught his son, giggles leaving the boy as Jackie scoops him up, "oh you silly little boy"

Alicia sighs, coming downstairs with a pretty fancy, tight dress, "Babee~"

Jackie looks up, looking at Alicia with a smile, "Baby! Robbie was taking his first steps! Can you believe it!" He hums, before seeing the dress, his head tilting, "Hon, what's with the dress? Where ya heading?"

"Well I was thinking we could go get some dinner. Ya know, enjoy the night together"

"We could, but Robbie may have to come...I don't think there is any last minute babysitters available if you want to be going now-"

"Why can't we just leave it with my sister? She's closer and always available!" Alicia huffed, rolling her eyes a bit.

"I don't trusts her with Robbie anymore. And you know that babe. After last time-I don't even think Robbie would like to be there" Jackie spoke with a frown, remembering what had happened the last time. When they had left Robbie at Alicia's sister, the boy had not only been left in a dirty diaper the whole day, but he had almost choked on a piece of carrot.

Alicia stomped her foot as she scoffed, "Babe! We don't go out alone-like ever anymore! Why can't we just leave the boy to Stephanie for a bit! I'm sure she's learned! What happened to giving people second chances??" She batted her eyelashes to her boyfriend. A smile on her face.

Jackie thought long and hard. A sigh leaving him before nodding- "o-okay...but only for a bit though. And then we're picking up Robbie" he spoke while standing up.

Jackie took their son up to get the boy ready. The boy just happily bouncing in Jackie's arms and looking up at his dad.

"Jackie. What do you think about having more kids? I feel like we should have more. Ya know? Give Robbie some proper siblings"

Jackie looks at his girlfriend. Taking a bite of his meal while watching her drink some wine, "I would love to have more kiddos...but to be completely honest babe-I don't know if I trust your drinking urges to carry another child"

Alicia scoffs, rolling her eyes. She was about to protest-but knows it's true. She couldn't bare avoiding drinking for another 9 months again.

"Fine-how about adopting then?? We can try and see some kids at the orphanages and look for a better child" Alicia spoke without much thought. Biting into her food.

Jackie frowns a bit at hearing her words, "Better child? Alicia-what are you talking about? Robbie is our son-of course we can adopt but you can't belittle our kid"

Alicia rolled her eyes softly, "I'm not. It's just that I think we need to get a normal child for him! One that can-I dunno make him not stand out as much for other kids??"

Jackie stared at Alicia. A sigh left him, "we can think about it. For now-can you maybe not ignore Robbie as much?? I've seen you actively not being around as much. I have a mission soon and I need you to look after our boy." Jackie finished eating before taking his wallet out, " plus it's good to get along with him before we adopt another kid!"

Chapter 2: Making decisions

Summary:

Jackie and his girlfriend are about to go get ready for adopting their kid! But what Jackie learns about Alicia’s real intentions makes their relationship take a huge turn.

Chapter Text

"Now try again. Say pa-pa"

"Ba...mmba- pa!!"

Jackie squealed with excitement. He picks Robbie up and spins him softly. Pressing soft kisses to his son's cheek, "Oh I'm so proud of you!! Alicia!!! Alicia you won't believe it!! Robbie said his first words!!"

Jackie ran out of Robbie's room. Holding the boy as he rushed to his shared room.

Alicia looks over just as she finished changing. Rising a brow at Jackie, "really now?"

Jackie nods happily, "Well, sorta. He's getting there! Look! Robbie say papa!"

Robbie flared his arms a bit. Happily tapping Jackie's hands while looking up at him, "ba!...p-pa!"

Alicia looked at Jackie. Looking quite unimpressed. Watching how excited Jackie got-cooing at Robbie, "Jackie, he's just saying words. He's one years old now and he can't even form proper words! At one I was already saying mama!"

Jackie frowned, covering Robbie's ears-he knew how sensitive his son was for loud noises, "Alicia...the doctor said it'll take some extra time for him to learn. Longer than the average child. At least he's making it to 'pa'! That's basically a word."

Alicia could only roll her eyes, huffing, "Whatever. You ready? We have to go to the orphanage soon. Might as well take the shrimp with us" as she spoke, she was fixing her hair in the mirror. Fixing even the slightest flaws she spotted.

Jackie huffs, picking up Robbie and carrying him to his room. Jackie felt the boy squirming in his arms-just sighing softly as he set him down to play, meanwhile he searched for some clothes.

While looking through Robbie's closet-Jackie could hear Alicia singing softly from the hall. Finally grabbing some clothes for their 1 year old, a white shirt with brown elephants with brown overalls.

On their way to go to the orphanage-he could see Alicia smiling more than normal. Jackie of course thought it was because of them adoption a baby-not knowing the real reason.

Robbie was in his car seat-playing with his rattle stuffy, Ellie the elephant. Babbling nonsense as he played.

Soon when they pull up to the orphanage-Jackie got out and helped Robbie out. The boy refused to be carried-wiggling around to be set down.

Holding Jackie's hand-Robbie walks into the orphanage with Jackie, Alicia following behind.

"Oh hello! Are you guys here for the appointment??" The front desk man asked. Smiling brightly as he looks at the couple walking in.

Jackie nodded, "Yep! We're looking to adopt! It should be under either Jackie or Alicia"

Alicia looked around the place. Seeing how fancy it looked. Her smiling growing, 'they must have normal, formal kids here.' She thought with a chuckle before looking at Robbie, 'He'll be left out but it doesn't matter'

"Oh yes! It's under Jackie-it says here you guys are searching for new kids and to drop off one. Is that correct?" The man spoke, looking up.

"What- drop off? No..." Jackie says, holding Robbie's hand tighter as he looks back at Alicia, "excuse me sir."

The man at the front desk could already see the tension. He clears his throat, "I'll go help get the kids ready-" he spoke before walking off.

"Robs, let's sit you down real quick. I gotta talk with mama." Jackie spoke softly. He finds a chair for his son-pulling out his stuffy. He gave the rattle stuffy to his son before going back over to his girlfriend.

"Alicia? Drop one off??? Why did you put that down??" Jackie crossed his arms while narrowing his eyes at Alicia

"Babeeee!!! We have a chance to start over! Have a chance to actually have a normal child! Look at him, he's so behind it's embarrassing!! How am I supposed to show my mom or John that faulty boy when he's just barely able to walk?!" Alicia protested, whining softly, "Why not just relieve ourselves from all our struggles and just set him up for adoption and adopt some normal damn kids??"

"Alicia!! That boy is our child! We made him! It's not his fault if you decided to drink when pregnant! And the way he acts shouldn't embarrass you! If anything our son shouldn't be the embarrassment! You are for so foolishly drinking! We're not about to send Robbie into adoption! He deserves a happy family with us!"

"Well I'm not happy having him! So maybe he'll get an even happier family away from us! C'mon baby-do it for me at least~ maybe I can get you a special treat later today~" Alicia tried bribing. Leaning against Jackie with puppy eyes.

Jackie, he felt disgusted. This was his girlfriend...not only that but also the mother of his son. Yet, she was so unsupportive of their own biological child-it was heartbreaking. It fueled Jackie's anger and only made him not love her more and more. With a huff, Jackie pushed Alicia away, "No...if you're so inclined to setting my son for adoption-then we're over! I don't want to be with someone who doesn't support my child."

"Wha-What!! You can't just do that!!! Jackie!"

"It's either you deal with having Robbie as my son and be a supportive mother-or you leave! I don't give a damn. But I'm not gonna abandon my son just for your selfish ass! He deserves a better mother"

Alicia-she looked conflicted. She wanted to be with Jackie. She wanted to be able to flaunt around how her boyfriend was a famous hero of the city.

Glaring over at Robbie, Alicia puffs her cheeks, 'That boy! He's ruining everything for me!' She thought-crossing her arms with a pout, "Baby...you wouldn't leave me. You love me too much, don't you?~ im sure having a boy like that will push you back on your job, no. Baby??"

"I can always retire....you know what. I'm done playing games. I'm breaking up with you. I don't want a woman who doesn't support my own kid. Come pick your stuff up on Monday."

"NO! You can't just leave me like that!!" Alicia grabbed Jackie's arm.

He yanked his arm away, turning his back to her,"Well I just did. Leave Alicia. Find a way to get somewhere else. I'll need the car."

Alicia, she looked almost in disbelief, a huff leaving her before storming out of the orphanage.

The man from the front comes in. He saw the lady was gone, only seeing now the man and the son. A nervous smile goes to his face, "Uh...sir??? The kids are ready...do you still want to adopt them??"

Jackie looked over, before looking at Robbie. 'I...I can't back down...I have to. Those kids were hoping for an adoption today... whichever she choose that is'

"Yes, I'll adopt them. May I just look at the information files please? I sorta let her choose the kids while I was busy with our little one" Jackie spoke up finally after a bit.

The man nodded, taking some papers out, "here are the files of the boys your girlfriend choose...and this paper is something you both are to sign."

"Oh she's not signing anymore. She's no longer in the picture. It'll just be me" Jackie looked through the two files. Seemed one boy was older while the other was the same age as Robbie, just a couple months younger. Then he looks at the sheet of paper to sign, " a check??? In a couple of months??? Why?"

"You see, these boys you're adopting-they have some disabilities...so we like to send someone over after a couple of months from adoption, to make sure the home is fit for the kids. Or else we'd have to take them away. Think of this as a 'preadoption'. They're not your official child yet until you pass...especially now that you're gonna be a single dad."

Jackie was shocked. He blinks a bit. Before taking a deep breath and signing the paper, "Okay...I'll do it. Can I go see them??"

The man nods, collecting all the paperwork. He motions Jackie to follow, Jackie quickly going to get Robbie before following behind.

Upon going to the back, he heard loud crying. Walking over, he saw what was happing.

The two boys that were gonna be adopted were hugging another two kids, all refusing to let go. A staff member trying to separate them all.

"NO!! I don' wanna!!! I wan' brother!!!" One little boy cried out-seeming to be hugging his crying twin.

"NEIN!! no!!! M'van' Chase vith me!!" The slightly older boy cried- sounding like he struggled with speaking English- hugging another crying boy.

"I'm so sorry...just, Henrik has always been with Chase. They take care of one another. Plus, Anthony and JJ are twins. They're finding a bit of a hard time to leave." The man explains nervously.

Jackie watched with a sad look. He didn't want to separate them. None of them...

"I'll just adopt them four. It's fine!"

"... what?? Are-are you sure??? Sir you were gonna have already 3 kids by yourself. You think you can handle 5??"

"Of course! Plus, it be wrong of me if I separate them...so yeah I'll adopt them 4! Combine them with the contract I signed. I can wait patiently for them to pack, Robbie and I are in no rush anyways."

Jackie smiles, picking his son up. Watching as the two staff members looked at each other before talking with the kids. Helping lead them back for the other two's bags.

The original two boys looked at Jackie, but Jackie only flashed them a kind smile. Watching them scurry away for the other two.

'5 kids...by myself...god I know this'll take a bit...but it's fine. I got this...'

Chapter 3: The boys

Summary:

Jackie’s adventure of caring for the boys starts! Meet the little boys and a brief of their background

Chapter Text

"And that's all the bags....are you sure you can do this sir?"

Jackie looked at the kids he was adopting. The twins were holding hands, while the other two stuck close to each other.

"...yeah. I'm sure I can! I guess I'll see you guys in a couple of months for a check up?"

After a bit more of getting papers, Jackie smiles at the kids, "Alright kiddos! C'mon! Let's go to your new home!" He chirped as he gently carried Robbie with one hand, the other hand carrying the cart with the bags in it.

The boys looked at each other before following beside Jackie. Robbie looking down at them curiously.

There were the twins, about the age of Robbie-they were walking holding hands. One of them, Anthony, was leading the other. While the boy a bit behind, Jameson, or Jay for short, was following cluelessly.

Then there were the other two. One boy that was slightly older, Henrik, was following behind with a bit of a waddle. While the other, Chase, stayed right beside, making sure his friend doesn't trip. Small hums or whistles, or sounds in general leaving him randomly.

Jackie helped them all get in the car before placing Robbie in his car seat with his stuffy. He made sure everyone was buckled up before getting in himself and starting the car. Driving back home-though he stared at the road as he just realized what he did to himself, 'I got work to do...god this'll be a struggle...' he thinks.

————————————————

When they arrived back at the house, Jackie helped everyone inside and had them all in the living room. He watched as the kids all went to sit on the couch, while Robbie went to play with his toys.

"Okay...well I guess I we should introduce each other first-this is your new house! My name is Jackie, but whenever you guys feel ready, I am you're guys new dad!"

"Maybe." A German accent spoke. Looking at Jackie with a tilted head, "Scotty said, if prove in bit of months" he says-trying his best to look for the proper words.

The boy next to him nodded, a small whistle leaving him.

"Uh...yes, correct. I think...I have a couple months to show I can handle whatever you guys have. But it should be no biggie! I'm determined! And you?? What's your name and how old are you?"

"Henrik, me is 10 old" Henrik spoke, looking at the boy next to him for confirmation.

"No, it's 'I am 10 YEARS old' very close-*whistle*-though" the boy says while patting Henrik's back.

Jackie smiles at that, "And you must be his friend? Correct?"

"Yeah, I'm-eggs!- sorry, Chase...9 years old." He spoke as he whistled right after. Fiddling with his fingers a bit. Henrik rubbing his back.

Jackie nodded, looking at their interaction before glancing over to the twins.

Anthony had Jay beside him, rubbing the boys back. Jackie went Ive and crouched besides the two of them, "hey guys...mind telling me your names?"

Anthony stared at Jackie for a while. Before wrapping his arms around Jay in a hug, pulling his brother close. JJ let it happen, staying near his brother, hiding his face from where he thinks Jackie is.

"Uh...you guys are twins no? You two are one years old?"

"Yes sir" Anthony says. Nodding softly as he just held Jay, feeling how scared he was.

Jackie frowned at that, "Uh...You don't need to call me sir, your Anthony Jackson right? This your brother Jameson?"

Jamie flinched at hearing his full first name. Usually that meant he was in trouble in his old house. Anti held Jay closer, nodding, "Jay oki..." he mumbles.

Henrik watched from where he sat. He frowns, "Zhey came few days ago, from no good home." He spoke.

Jackie looks at Henrik, nodding softly, "Thanks Henrik" he looked back at Jay and Anthony, "Jay, you and your brother are close huh?"

Jamie heard the voice of the man. He turned his head, before feeling for his brother's hand. Nodding gently.

Anthony kept a protective arm around JJ. He saw the man's confused look, "Jay no see...no 'alk ." He informed.

Jackie nods, understanding what he means, "It's fine...how about I make us some yummy Mac n Cheese? Oh!! I forgot, this is my son Robbie. He's one as well, but I'm sure you guys are gonna get along!" He says to the kids. "Feel free to explore the house while I make some food"

————————————————————

A little get to know of the boys.

Henrik, the Jewish German boy, was an orphan that was transferred from Germany. Having been put in the system since he was 5. While he knows little English-he is incredibly smart. He's been adopted 3 times back in Germany and once in America before Jackie finally did. At one point he was close to losing hope with getting adopted-each time his two amputations ruining it.
After a terrible huge accident back in Germany-Henrik had to get an amputation and lost his family.

Then there was Chase. The 9 year old was alone for most of his life. His family left him alone at the orphanage when he was 7. That's when the tics started. After months of the family trying-they couldn't handle it anymore and simply dropped Chase to the orphanage and sped off.

Anthony and Jay, the one year old twins had it rough. At first their childhood consisted of abuse from their father. The father didn't care for the mother or the kids. JJ wasn't always blind but he was always mute-he could see at one point if it weren't for the dad. It resorted to the father soon being caught-but the family had gone homeless. Now fending off outside and living from abandoned houses to cars, the twins were soon found beside their mother's cold body just a few days ago. Both cold and alone-Anthony having gotten an epileptic seizure. At such a young age, the boys suffered and were sent to the orphanage.

—————————————————

"Boys! Food is ready!"

Jackie went over to help Robbie come to the table. Looking and seeing Anthony and Jay needed help. He went over, and offered his hand to them.

Anthony stared at the hand before hesitantly grabbing it and then holding Jay's hand. The three heading to the table, the two oldest following behind.

Henrik and Chase sat beside each other. Henrik stared at his food-before he mumbled a small blessing. Chase listening while holding Henrik's hand.

Jackie stared in fascination, setting the three young boys in their chairs as he watched Henrik.

Once the boy finished, he smiles at Chase before both started to eat.

"You know you don't have to do that at this house if you don't want to." Jackie says softly.

Henrik looked at Jackie before shaking his head, "Mama say for respect. We Jewish" he informed.

"I do it with him just so he's not alone. Even if I have no clue what he's saying" Chase spoke with a shrug.

Jackie smiles and nods, "Alright, whatever you feel comfortable, I won't stop you" he says with a smile. Sitting down beside the younger boys to make sure they eat properly and don't choke.

Anthony was helping Jay with eating while he eats. Though he looked over at Robbie curiously before focusing at his brother. Smiling at seeing Jay enjoy his food. Eating some himself while JJ chews.

Jackie watched happily as the kids ate. He was helping Robbie eat, knowing his son needed help still. Smiling as he pressed a loving kiss to Robbie's forehead. He was happy with this-even if he knew it'd be a struggle.

Chapter 4: Shopping trip (pt. 1)

Summary:

Jackie decides they should go shopping. The boys needed a new set of clothes anyways. So off they go to the mall with the boys by his side.

Chapter Text

"C'mon now. You guys need to go change. We're gonna go shop for your guys"

Henrik looks up confused, he tilts his head before glancing at Chase.

Chase smiles brightly, feeling himself grow excited to go out-his tics starting to come out a bit more. Whistles and hitting his chest a bit. Henrik quickly puts a pillow between Chase's fist and chest, just so the younger boy doesn't hurt himself.

"Is he okay??" Jackie looked at Chase concerned as the boy kept hitting his chest and letting out small whistles.

Henrik nods, "Normal...come Chase...change time." He says softly as he stood up with him. Making sure to keep the pillow where it is while they head up to their room to change.

Jackie had made it so that each boy is sharing a room with at least one person. He kept Robbie in his own room, but had the room where Alicia used to be, for Henrik and Chase. While Jay and Anti shared another room. Anti refusing to be separated from JJ.

Jackie had taken out all of Alicia's stuff and simply dropped them off at her sister's house, not wanting to see her again.

Jackie went up to Robbie's room, seeing the boy was playing with some blocks. Jackie smiles, getting some clothes before heading over and helping Robbie get changed.

"Pa-papa! Papa!" Robbie claimed happily, looking up at Jackie.

Hearing this made the older man freeze and look at Robbie with wide eyes, "Yes! Y-yes!! I'm papa!! Omg!! You did it Robbie!! Oh papa is so proud!" He squeals, pressing soft kisses to Robbie's cheek. Robbie letting how happy squeals.

"Papa!! Papa!!" Robbie squeals happily. Clapping his hands happily as he smiled at the kisses.

"C'mon baby, let's get ready for today." Jackie spoke softly as he got the boy changed. Once he finished, gently setting the boy down so he can wonder around while he went to help Anthony and Jay.

Upon entering, he smiles at seeing the two boys simply playing with each other-mainly Anthony directing the game.

Jay heard a noise of someone walking in, he flinched and froze outta fear. Trying to see where the noise was from, but ended up looking at the wall opposite of Jackie.

Anthony frowns and simply turns his brother to look at Jackie.

"Hey boys, we're heading out shopping-so we need to get you guys changed."

Anthony stared at him again before nodding softly, watching as the man gets some clothes for them. Jay simply grabbing his stuff elephant by the ear and then his brother's hand before standing up.

Anthony nods, leading his brother to the man. The elephant dragging behind JJ.

"Come you first Jamie," Jackie says as he gently goes to pick up JJ, "oh, I need you to let go of the elephant and your brother Bud. So I can change you" he spoke.

Jay let out a silent cry when he felt not only his Ellie the elephant start to be taken away but as well that he was being separated from his brother. He thrashed and instantly ran into Anti's arms, hugging his brother close and shaking his head.

Jackie frowns at that, 'he may have some separation issues or fear from his brother...' he thinks while crouching down beside them, "Jay, darling, we need you to get changed. I just need you to let go of your brother real quick"

Jay shook his head again, refusing to turn his head away from his brother's shoulder.

Anthony wraps his arms around his brother, "it oki..." he pats his brothers back.

Jackie watched with a frown, "Here...how about I change you both the same time. Does that sound good?" He asked gently, seeing the little nod from JJ and Anthony.

Jackie took a deep breath before starting to change both of them. Making sure JJ knew that Anthony was still there.

Soon enough he was walking downstairs with the two boys. Anthony refused to hold Hackie's hand, only holding Jay's as they waddled their way down.

There was Henrik and Chase, sitting on the living room floor with Robbie. It seemed like Robbie had roped in the boys to play tea cups with him while they waited.

"Seems you guys are having fun" Jackie comments with a smile.

"I sure am! Little dude here knows how to bring a good tea party!" Chase giggles, ruffling Robbie's hair.

Henrik simply looked into the cup, frowning a bit, "zhink zhere needs real tea for party. He just ust pour air!"he says puzzled, looking more confused as Chase only laughed.

"No-egg!-sorry. But no! It's a game. Pretend-*whistle*-tea is in your cup!" Chase informed while he happily smiles, his hand uncontrollably slapping the floor. Henrik quickly putting a pillow again in between Chase's hand and the floor.

"Well, how about we continue our tea party after the store?? C'mon let's get going! Come to papa Robbie"

Robbie looks up happily and rushed over to Jackie with his arms up, "papa!" He squeals. Letting himself be happily picked up as the others followed to the car.

—————————————————

Jackie smiles as he parked the car in the parking lot.

Jackie glanced at the kids in the back, his son Robbie happily playing with his stuffy, Anthony and JJ mainly playing and keeping to themselves. All while Chase was chatting with Henrik from the back seat.

Jackie watched a bit, before clearing his throat to get their attention.

In turn it startled Chase into aggravating his tics. He let out a small yell, his eyes blinked rapidly while his face would keep going into a wide smile occasionally.

"Oh I'm sorry! I don't mean to startle him...we arrived to the mall." Jackie spoke softly, watching as Henrik did his best to calm his friend.

Jackie helped get the young kids out of the car. He made sure they were all in sight as they make their way inside.

Chase and Henrik following behind-Chase continuing to let out small tics occasionally.

Upon entering the building, the twins instantly stayed glued to each other. Jay could hear just how crowded the building is...all while Anthony let out a soft whine as he felt a sort of pain in his head. The amount of people and all the bright lights within the building, it overwhelmed him a bit, making him instinctively hold onto one of Jay's hand-as the other hand was occupied by holding the stuff elephant.

Jackie smiles brightly, "let's go get you boys some clothes!" He chirps, walking off with the boys. A humming smile on his face as they walked. Though he noticed how Anthony seemed a bit in pain. Continuing to rub his head while leading his brother around. Making Jackie hum with curiosity as to what was going on with Anthony.

Chapter 5: Shopping trip (part 2)

Summary:

“ Anti unconsciously stayed near Jackie-feeling a little anxious with the amount of people. His headache feeling a bit worse.”

A continuation from last chapter-the boys are at the mall. Yet Anthony isn’t having a good time.

Chapter Text

"Vhat zhis?"

"Those are called wedges. You're in the girl's shoe section" Chase giggles, taking the shoe from Henrik and putting it back. He grabbed his friend's hand and directed him to the correct area. Seeing Jackie with the younger boys, seeming to be trying different shoes.

"Do these feel comfortable Jamie?" Jackie asked as he put some fuzzy boot looking shoes on Jay's feet.

Jamie kicked his legs a bit, sitting on a bench with his brother beside him. He felt how soft and warm the boots kept his feet-making him smile widely and nod.

"Okay! We'll get these! And you Anthony? Do you like those sneakers?" Jackie tried getting Anthony some boots like JJ, but the boy refused. Seeming to prefer the black sneakers that had some neon green designs on them.

Anthony nods his head, "Mhm!"

"We found-blmrfff-" Chase started only to suddenly make a sudden sound. It startled Jackie a bit, having not heard that sound from Chase before.

"...Sorry" Chase looked down, feeling a sense of shame and embarrassment.

"Hey now, don't apologize hon. I just didn't expect it. You guys found some shoes?" Jackie ruffled Chase's hair. Looking at the shoes he was shown-only to suddenly be thrown a pair from Chase.

Chase gasped, "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean-blmrfff-didn't mean it!" He didn't like that some people were glancing at them. Starting to tear up.

Jackie picks up the pair of shoes, setting them in their basket, gently petting Chase's head, "Hey, hey...it's okay. No need to apologize-it was an accident." He spoke softly. Trying to calm him down.

Henrik frowns as he side hugged Chase. Seeing the boy try and calm down with deep breaths.

Jackie glanced back at Anthony and JJ. Seeing Anthony gripping his head in pain while Jay leaned his head on Anthony's shoulder.

Jackie got up and went to Anthony, gently tapping his knee, "Hey buddy...what's wrong??" He asked softly.

Anthony tears up, a small whine leaving him as he kicks his feet. "Hurt!" He whines, hitting his head with his little hands.

Jackie quickly grabbed Anthony's hands to stop him. Frowning with worry, "maybe you're hungry. I think we all need some food. It's almost lunch anyways." He says while gently wiping away the tears slowly slipping down Anthony's cheeks, "Does that sound good? Getting some nom-noms?"

Anthony nods softly, making Jackie smile a little while helping the little boys off the bench, making sure to get all of their new shoes in the basket so they can pay.

Robbie was walking beside his dad, holding onto his pant leg a bit as he waddled.
Anthony and Jay staying near each other while they walked. Anthony rubbing his forehead as he whimpers.

Henrik stayed with Chase, keeping an arm wrapped around his friend as he makes sure he was alright.

Upon finally paying, Jackie led them off to the food court.

Anti unconsciously stayed near Jackie-feeling a little anxious with the amount of people. His headache feeling a bit worse.

Jackie looked around, humming softly, "Okay boys. What do we wanna eat?"

Henrik looked around, seeing all the different foods-some of which he's never had before. It makes him curious while he looked around.

Anti stayed near Jackie while they walked. He made sure JJ was with him before waddling to follow Jackie.

It took a bit, but finally they managed to find something for them to eat. As they sat down, it was the usual for the kids.

Robbie was being helped by Jackie to eat-even if he tried as hard as he could to hold properly the fork.

Henrik was eating quietly, while dodging some food that would be flicked at him by accident by Chase. Helping to clean him up.

Anthony focused to help Jay to eat, making Jackie feel bad, "Hey bubbs...how about I help him eat? You focus on eating" he says as he grabs Jay's fork and tries to feed him some of the food.

Yet, Jay didn't recognize the sudden knew hand that was coming towards him from a whole different angle. It made JJ nervous, quickly turning his face away. His lip trembling a bit-showing he was about to cry. His hands patting around-wondering where Anthony had gone.

Anthony frowns at seeing Jay was about to cry. He quickly grabs Jay's hand, "I here! Jay oki..." he says softly to him.

Jackie retracts his hand as he looks at them worried. Wondering what he did wrong, "hey Jamie...it's okay. It was just me...Anthony is beside you..c'mon, let's eat a little." He tried reassuring.

Anthony held Jay's hand, refusing to eat until Jay does.

Jackie looks at the two, before offering a spoonful once more, "Here...open up JJ." He softly says.

Jay turned his head to where Jackie's voice was, before opening his mouth hesitantly to accept some food.
Once he felt the food in his mouth-he chews slowly before a small smile went to his face.

Anti smiles at that, continuing to hold Jay's hand as he starts to eat his own food.

———————————————————-

"Now be careful with the things here, don't touch anything since they can be fragile. We don't need any unnecessary breaking" Jackie lead the kids into the new store. He just needed to look around for something the boy's would like.

Robbie was walking with Henrik, finding a new liking to the older boy. Henrik, he didn't mind. The young boy was interesting anyways. They both couldn't speak English properly anyways.

Chase was looking around, keeping his hands behind his back as best as he could-not wanting to risk throwing something or breaking. His eye twitching while he follows. "Eggs!!"

Anthony looked back at the shout. He was holding Jay's hand while they waddled. The sudden shout making him freeze a bit. He didn't understand what Chase had. Why he'd keep making funny faces and sounds. But he also didn't want to ask as well.

While they walked, Anthony saw something pretty. It shined nice, and Anthony got curious. He started walking to it, leading JJ with him.

Reaching up, he gently grabbed the shiny item and held it in his hands. It was a tiny, golden statue of a giraffe.

While looking at the item with fascination, suddenly a sudden strong jerk went through him. It felt like his muscles had tensed up and jerk, making the giraffe statue and Jay's hand fall out of his own hands.

The giraffe crashed to the floor-the head ended up breaking off. Anthony already was scared about what had just happened-it didn't help that the giraffe broke and an employee was standing nearby.

Jackie-having noticed that Anthony and Jay were gone, had started to search for them. When he heard the crash, and then an employee talking, Jackie had rushed over just in time to see Anthony and Jay together beside a broken, small giraffe statue.

"I'm so sorry! That's my son! I'll pay for it!" Jackie rushed over. Crouching down beside Anthony and JJ to make sure they were okay.

Anthony though, he felt his anxiousness only rise. He did a bad-and usually that meant bad things. He starts to tremble when suddenly his body drops and he basically passed out. He grew stiff, his muscles jerking and seeming to spasm.

Jay was in panic. He couldn't feel his brother's hand anymore and it scared him. Making him start to cry. He could sense something was wrong with his twin and he didn't like it.

Jackie panicked. He helped Anthony lay comfortably on the floor, quickly taking his own jacket off and placing it under Anthony's head.

"Chase, take Jay away from Anthony-I don't want either of them getting hurt" Jackie demanded. He sorta knew what to do-he's helped a victim with a seizure before during one of his missions.

The employee though-he looked frightened. Not knowing what to do as he watched worried.

Chase rushed over to JJ, gently grabbing his arm, "come Jay...eggs! Come!" He says. Though JJ was fighting. He didn't recognize the hand on him-it freaked him out. He began to cry harder, reaching out for his brother, "Anthy! Anthy!" He mouthed. Chase basically dragging JJ away.

Jackie was keeping track of the seizure time. Though his hands were trembling-he showed calmness. Soon Anthony's seizure had stopped.
Jackie gently had Anti be on his side as he makes sure he's breathing.

Jay had little hiccups leaving him, finally calming down just a little. Yet Chase had let out a sudden random sound-which in turn ended up scaring Jay once again. JJ let out another cry, letting go of Chase's arm.

Henrik took notice and gave Robbie to Chase instead. Going to JJ and gently taking his hand, "hey it oki...no bad" he says softly. Trying to calm the boy down as best as he could.

While all that was going on. Anthony slowly woke up. He rubbed his eyes as he sat up a little, looking around in slight confusion but tired. When he sees Jackie, he flinched a bit.

"Hey buddy...you're okay...how you feeling?" Jackie asked softly. Rubbing Anthony's arm a bit to calm him.

Anthony shrugs, "I-I tired..." he mumbles softly, rubbing his eyes before seeing JJ. He lets out a sound, sleepily waddling to his brother and grabbing his hand.
Jay seemingly calming down instantly from feeling his brother's hand again. It calmed him down.

Jackie frowns, before standing up fully, "I think it's time to go home and nap...c'mon guys....lets head back to the car." He spoke softly. He got their bags, leaving the store and making sure the boys were okay-especially keeping an eye on Anthony and JJ.
Robbie stayed with Chase, taking shaky waddle steps as he smiles.

——————————————————

When they arrived back to Jackie's house, Jackie helped them go up to their rooms. Gently directing Anthony and JJ to their bed before putting Robbie in bed as well. His son was tired after all. And with a quick lullaby-the little boy went to sleep quickly.

Chase and Henrik were a bit harder.

Henrik didn't feel like sleeping. He stayed on his bed-reading a book. Though having taken off one of his prosthetic's , his leg.

"Henrik...only one more chapter and I want you to nap as well...I know you don't want to but I think we all need the extra rest"

Henrik only scoffs a bit, "Nien..."

Meanwhile Chase was trying to sleep. Yet he kept getting tics after tics that are bothering him from sleeping.

Jackie huffed, "Henrik! Please. Don't think I didn't see that yawn. Just set the book down. You can keep reading when you wake up" he spoke as he gently guided Henrik to lower the book, "and take your arm off too, don't want it to hurt later" he added.

Henrik let out a tired sigh, before unlatching his arm and slowly taking it out. He sets it aside where his leg is-before slowly falling asleep.

Chase had laid his head down. He kept nodding off before being awoken by a tic. It was starting to frustrate him-making him tear up.

Jackie walked over, gently running his fingers through Chase's hair, "Try to calm down...I don't know how-but I am willing to help you. Just first calm down and take deep breaths." He spoke gently. Seeing the boy following while his eyes slowly dropped.
Jackie stayed by his side the whole time-holding Chase's hand until the boy finally had calmed down enough and his tics weren't bothering him as much-making Chase fall asleep. Jackie quietly left the room-heading downstairs to prepare some food for later.

Chapter 6: Piling stress

Summary:

Jackie is having a hard time dealing with the kids-and with work coming up, the stress only keeps on piling

Chapter Text

Jackie was struggling.

That much could already have been figured from the conditions the kids have. And it wasn't like Jackie was complaining either-he practically asked for it when adopting them...well except for Robbie. But it wasn't like he was ungrateful.

Jackie sighs as he was preparing sandwiches for the kids to eat. He could hear them around the house, Robbie happily playing with Chase outside in the yard. Now Jackie was glad there was a window in the kitchen that faced the backyard, that way he could watch the two kids.

In the living room, Henrik was coloring with Anthony, while Jay sat in between them as he played with a stuff animal.

Jackie huffed, finally finishing making the sandwiches. He had made some hash browns for the boys to eat as well.

"Boys!!! Lunch is ready!! Come" Jackie calls out with the window open.

Chase happily caught the ball Robbie rolled at him. He looks up when Jackie spoke, nodding as he goes and gets Robbie's hand. Chase let out a few verbal tics while leading Robbie inside to eat.

Henrik meanwhile helped clean up their area, before standing up. He felt Jay grab his prosthetic arm, looking down and see the little boy holding both his and Anthony's hand.

Jamie had a big happy smile as he tries to waddle ahead and pull his brother and Henrik to the table.

Henrik yelps at the sudden pull-not having expected it. Unfortunately, neither did his sorta loose arm-which fell off of him and dropped limp next to JJ.

Jay suddenly felt how light Henrik's hand was. He didn't know anything about his prosthetic arm-so the feeling of the arm laying limp on the floor-it naturally freaked the poor little boy. Thinking he just had pulled Henrik's real arm off somehow.

Jamie instantly let out a silent scream as he burst into tears. He let go of the limp hand, and instead resorted to clinging to Anthony.
Anthony wasn't any better either. While he wasn't crying like JJ, he stood in shock at the limp arm-although a bit fascinated by it.

Henrik saw Jay's reaction and he instantly panicked. He didn't know how to help, "uh-it okay! No bad!" Henrik says worried, picking up the arm in a hurry, "J-Jackie!! Help!" He spoke out loudly.

Chase and Robbie had entered the house, Chase saw his close friend looking panicked and confused, while JJ was crying and Anthony trying to calm Jay down.

Jackie quickly set down the plates he had in hand, rushing off to go to Henrik and the two twins. Though at seeing Jay crying and Anthony looking confused-it made Jackie more confused. All while Henrik was struggling putting his arm back on.

Jackie went over to Henrik, helping him put the arm back on and buckling it, "What happened? Why's Jay crying?"

Henrik didn't know how to explain it-he felt terrible and ashamed for having scared Jay with his prosthetic arm.

Jackie took noticed-slowly piecing the situation together. With a reassuring smile to Henrik, Jackie crouched down beside Jay and Anthony, "Jamie...Jamie hon, it's okay." He tried talking softly, rubbing Jay's back.

Jay sniffles as he turns towards where the hand on his back came from. He whimpers, holding Anthony's hand in fear. Hearing Jackie talk.

"Henrik isn't hurt...it's okay. See?" Jackie gently grabbed Jay's small hand and then led Henrik closer. Having Jay feel Henrik's real arm instead.

It seemed like it helped though, seeing Jay's tense body physically relax as he felt better knowing Henrik wasn't hurt. Anthony watched though, having seen what happened-he felt his curiousity spark more.

"C'mon now boys-let's eat up a bit. I think we're all just hungry" Jackie helped direct the kids to go eat.

Chase rushing over to Henrik to make sure he was okay. Rubbing his back with a reassuring smile-seeing how sad Henrik looked.

"It wasn't your fault. He's okay now!" Chase kept his voice soft to help calm Henrik.

Henrik was about to speak before suddenly feeling something hug his legs. Looking down, Henrik smiles softly seeing it was Jay hugging him as a way to apologize for freaking out. Henrik chuckles softly-ruffling Jay's hair gently before helping JJ on a chair. Making sure that it was right beside Anthony's chair.

———————————————————

"What do you mean??? I asked for a month off! I sort of can't though! I have five kids to look over for and finding a last minute babysitter is gonna be so difficult! Especially with what they have!" Jackie stood at the kitchen island , his head in his hands with frustration as he listened to his boss.

The kids were off in the living room, each doing different activities. Jackie glanced over to make sure they're okay. Smiling a bit seeing everything was normal.

Henrik was practicing his English, having a book on his lap while Chase sat beside him to help learn. Even with his tics interrupting in the middle of him trying to be helpful.

Robbie was playing with Jay, both working on building a tower. Even if JJ couldn't see, Robbie did his best to help his new friend.

And Anthony was sitting beside JJ, eating the fingerprint-

-wait....

"ANTHONY NO! Get that out of your mouth right now!! I'm sorry sir-if you would excuse me-" Jackie rushed and set his phone down as he ran over to Anthony.

The poor boss just sat there as he could hear Jackie on the other end basically fighting a child.

"No that's not for eating!"

"No!!! Mine!!"

"Anthony, no. I'm taking it away. Find something else to play with."

Sniff sniff...

"Uh-BOOM!-Uh, Jackie....I think-"

"WaaaAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

Jay flinched when suddenly Anthony began to scream and cry. He covers his ears in confusion. Not knowing why he was crying. Robbie covering his ears as well-not liking the loud sound. Small whines leaving him.

Jackie grimaced. He takes a couple deep breaths before picking up the little tubs of fingerpaints. He shakes his head, "Anthony no...you can't eat these. It's bad for you"

Jackie felt bad for taking the paints away but he put the cap on the tubs before setting it down. He gently picks Anthony up, who was fighting him at this point, "Hon, you need to wash your hands. I don't want you sucking the paint off of your fingers." He tried explaining.

Anthony's face was red at this point. He kept on crying and yelling, hitting Jackie's chest in a pout. Not only upset with the paints being taken away-but as well for a growing headache and getting separated from Jay.

The others watched as Jackie walked to the kitchen with Anthony crying. Soon enough hearing the water running gently.

Finally, Jackie set Anthony down, watching the little boy scramble off back to JJ.

Jackie sighs, hearing the crying was now calmer. Knowing JJ was helping calm Anthony.

Jackie rubs his forehead, putting the covered finger paints down in the toy box before grabbing his phone, "Hey sir, I'm so sorry about that..."

"Is everything okay?"

Jackie glanced back at the living room-watching how Jay had managed to have Anthony finally calmed down a bit, "Now yeah..." turning his back to the living room again.

Jackie's boss sighed before rubbing his head, "Okay...I'll give you two more days Jackie. But that's it. You need to find yourself a babysitter and all, but we seriously need you back. These newbies are gonna drive me insane with how they handle things"

A relieved sigh left Jackie as he nods, knowing he can't ask for more days at this point, "Alright...thank you so much sir." He says.

Once the phone hung up, Jackie only let out a frustrated breathe as he walked back to the living room to check on how things were holding up.

"Anthony not the paint again!!"

Chapter 7: The magnificent man

Summary:

Jackie needs to find a babysitter soon, but not just anyone, someone who can take care of the kids and are willing to help.

Chapter Text

Jackie let out a deep sigh as he scrolled through the different bio's of babysitters once more. He sat on the couch beside Chase and Robbie-all while the other kids were on the floor watching a movie.

Jackie huffed, continuing to scroll through as he stares at the different informations, picking out the few that seemed reliable.

Chase's little chirps and the light tapping of fingers on the fabric of the couch could be heard-and it was distracting Jackie a bit while he tried reading. Yet, he didn't mention anything as he gets up,

"I'll be back boys, I need to make some quick calls"

Jackie walked off to the kitchen with his computer and phone-making sure to still have to kids in his sight. He looks at his list of babysitters-hoping to find one that had a reasonable price and willing to care for 5 kids with disabilities.
————————•——

The first call was a major bust.

The woman on the other end seemed to only be interested in knowing about Jackie and that was it. She instantly backed up when Jackie told her what disabilities the boys had.

It was almost the same situation for his 2nd, 3rd, up to his 5th call.

Jackie groans while covering his face. He glanced at the kids, frowning softly, 'I knew it was gonna be difficult...but...it's okay-I got this! One more call and then I can keep looking...'

"God please be the one Marvin..."

//////////////////////////////

"Hello! This is Marvin Manus speaking, how may I help you?"

"Uh hey, my name is Jackie and I saw your post about possibly accepting jobs for babysitting young kids..."

The man in the other side, Marvin, had a smooth as honey voice. He smiles on the other end, humming softly as he cooked himself some food.

"That is what I do sir. How many kids would it be?"

"...5 boys...they each have some sort of disabilities or stuff..." Jackie's nervous tone was heard plain as day.

Marvin rose a brow at that, growing more curious on what Jackie was talking about. He hums, turning down the temperature of the stove as he grabs a pen and paper, "Well...would you mind telling me what they have-to see if I can help out babysit or not"

Jackie felt a bit hopeful hearing that, hoping not to scare Marvin away, "Uh...we got three very young ones and two older kids...um, one of the older kids has amputated leg and arm," Jackie decided to start off with which wouldn't scare the babysitter away immediately.

Marvin hums, writing it down, "Alright not too bad-what about the other 4?"

"One of the young ones is mute and blind...and the other has Fatal Alcohol Syndrome...and then the blind one has a twin that has epilepsy while the other older kid has Tourette's syndrome"

The silence on the other end made Jackie more nervous. He rubs the back of his neck as he sighs, "Look...I know it's a lot...I'll even pay you more than what you're asking for. But I really need help. At least please consider if you can"

Jackie anticipated for a response- or liking the silence on the other line-only able to hear a soft tapping of a pen.

A gentle sigh suddenly came out from the other side, "I have some experiences with some of those conditions...I can try one day and see how it goes. Would you need frequent babysitting or is this an occasional thing?"

Marvin didn't know whether this was a good idea or not-but hearing how desperate the guy sounded and how caring he was towards the kids-it seemed to pull him in for some reason.

Jackie brighten a bit at that, "Um...I may need it frequently...BUT! We can try one day and see how it goes for you and see if you'd like-"

Marvin chuckles, "yeah we'll have to see. What day do you need?"

"Two days!"

"Alright sir, we'll exchange information and then I'll see you and your kids in two days"

As soon as Jackie hung up, he was smiling happily. He felt a sense of relief and joy to know he has probably found a babysitter.

"JAC-EGGS-JACKIE!!"

His smile instantly dropped as soon as he heard Chase yell. Jackie set his things down and rushed over to the living room.

Jamie was crying with a scraped knee in the middle of the living room. He was hugging his knees to his chest-crying what would be out loud if it weren't for the fact no sound was coming out of him except small little gasps.

"He fall vhen go fast to ink crayons" Henrik tried explaining as he looked worried.

Jackie rushed over, setting a gentle hand on Jay's knee to inspect it-only for Jay to suddenly flinch away from him. Jackie frowns, "It's okay. It's just me-Jackie. I just wanna help"

Jay heard the voice of the big man. He whimpers, unsure if he was in trouble again. He curled up more, not knowing where he was. A hand feeling around for Anthony.
'Where baba...I wan' baba!' He thinks as he cried.

Anthony was fast asleep on the couch, having not heard what happened. He hadn't really slept so much apparently-so Jackie has noticed how he'd often either sleep in or sleep at random points of the day.

Jackie frowns as he moves to sit beside Jay. He gently taps the floor beside him before placing a soft hand over Jay's hand, "it's okay...I'm only here to help...your brother is asleep-will you let me help you make the owies go away Jamie?"

Jackie had quickly learned JJ didn't like hearing his first name. So he knew to use nicknames only, making it his mission to let Jay know he's safe now.

Jay slowly nodded, uncurling himself from his little ball he's made. Jackie smiles as he looks at the scraped knee, "Imma pick you up and we're gonna go to the bathroom so I can care for your owie" he spoke as he carefully picked Jay up.

Jackie glanced at the others in the room, "I'll be back boys. If Anthony wakes up, let him know I'm with Jamie" he began to walk to the bathroom, gently bouncing Jay as the little boy rubbed his eyes.

Jay let himself be carried off, sniffling from the throbbing pain he felt on his knee. Suddenly he felt himself be set down on a counter, hearing Jackie humming softly as the man gathered what was needed for his knee.

Jay gently put his sleeve of his shirt in his mouth while he waited. Feeling around with his free hand the area. He could feel the smooth counter top, the dip of the counter's edge and where the sink starts.

Outta no where a hand rested on his leg, making Jay flinch and let out a small whimper. Jackie smiles softly as he grabbed a wet cloth, "Imma clean your knee up...it may hurt a little though" he warned before gently patting the wound.

Even the slightest touch caused a sudden pain through Jay. He burst into more tears, backing up a little as best as he could as he shook his head. Jackie was gently holding Jay's leg as he frowns, "I know honey. I know it hurts...almost done"

Jay kept squirming, his hands patting and hitting the counter as a way to try and express his distress.

Soon enough a gentle blow was on his knee, before feeling a bandaid get put on. Jackie rubs his leg a bit as he runs a hand through Jay's hair, "there you go, it's over Jamie...you were so strong for me."

Jackie picked the little boy up and set him down on the ground, holding his hand as they walked out of the bathroom. Jay waddled as he rubs his eyes, smiling a bit. Jackie got the boy a piece of cookie before leading him back to the living room.

All the others were still scattered around doing their own thing. Jay slowly let go of Jackie's hand and went to do his own thing again. Jackie watched the young twin go draw once again-what the boy probably thought was a continuation of his drawing-but it was just a ton of scribbles on top of one another.

Jackie sighs, making sure everyone was alright, seeing Anthony slowly wake up and go sleepily join his brother. Jackie grabbed a pencil and a paper, 'may as well write out some important notes for the babysitter...' he thought-going to the coffee table to write it out while keeping an eye on the kids.

Chapter 8: Meeting Marvin

Summary:

Jackie is now getting ready to meet the potential babysitter. Although there is some events within the morning

Chapter Text

"Jackie?...Jackie??....JACKIE!?" Henrik's voice suddenly sounded right in front of him.

Jackie suddenly sat up in bed-trying to wipe the sleepiness away from his eyes, "W-wha?? What's up Hen?" He groans out softly.

Henrik could only point at the door as he tried finding his words, "Jamie...Jamie cry...he piss in bed" he tried informing.

That was all Jackie needed before suddenly throwing the covers off himself. He rushed out, "What! Thanks Henrik, can you help me and get him some new clothes from the closet hon? I'll go help him"

"Ace help Jay now" henrik says before walking out to gather some clothes for the little one year old.

Jackie rushed out of the room after putting on a tank top. Quietly making his way to the room, he could hear Chase and Anthony trying to calm down Jay.

"N-no- sicky achoo achoo-no tears. It's okay! It happens to everyone!" Chase tried saying as he rubbed Jay's back.

Anthony was hugging his brother, unsure how else to comfort his twin. He felt bad-feeling JJ hiding his face in Anthony's shoulder. He was afraid of getting in trouble. He didn't mean to wet the bed, but he had a nightmare and didn't notice until he woke up.

Jackie slowly let himself be known of being in the room, "Hey...everything okay??" He asked softly while going and sitting down beside the little boys.

Jay flinched at the sound of Jackie's voice-worried he was in trouble-it made him start to cry even more. Anthony kept his arms around JJ, looking at Jackie with a brave front, "No mad! He no mean to!" He instantly protested.

"No-I'm not mad...I just wanna help...Jamie will you let me help and clean you up?" Jackie made sure to keep his voice soft in order not to scare the little ones.

Chase stayed silent-as best as he could at least- as he listened to what was going on. Before seeing Henrik walk in with some clothes and Robbie beside him.

Jamie was trembling, he didn't even react to Jackie's question-just squirming uncomfortably while hiding his face.

Jackie sighs, thinking a bit before setting a soft hand on Jay's back, "come, I'll help you clean up, hon. Nothing to be scared of." Jackie says as he carefully and gently picked JJ up, "the rest of you get ready and head down. I'll be down in a bit. Someone should be coming over today."

Henrik gives Jackie the clothes he got before helping Robbie head downstairs.
Chase was trying to help Anthony-but the boy was complaining and whining.
"No!! No! Bubba! Man take bubba!" Anthony shrieks as he tries to follow behind Jackie. Chase having to hold the boy back. Ignoring the hits of Anthony's small fists on his arm.

Jackie carried JJ to the bathroom, getting the needed items to help clean him. He shut the door behind him quietly while setting JJ on the counter.

The blind boy gently ran his hands on the counter surface-getting a feel of his area. Though small sniffles were leaving him with silent tears.

"Hey, no need for more tears... I promise not to hurt you. I'm just needing to get you cleaned up." Jackie's soft voice surrounded JJ while he worked on undressing and cleaning Jay.

Jackie was focused on what he was doing-the only sound in the room being the running water and the occasional sniffle of Jay. When Jackie finished and dried Jay up-helping him change he looks at the little boy, "You wanna tell me what your nightmare was about?" Jackie didn't know how Jay would-considering the little boy couldn't speak-but thought it would be better for JJ to let out his emotions somehow.

Though JJ seemed to think otherwise-shaking his head softly.

Right as Jackie was gonna say something-the door knob of the bathroom jiggled. And then two soft voices sounded on the other side.

"Jackie! Person here-Anthony no, stop" Henrik's voice sounded on the other side-along with a huff and a whine from Anthony.

Jackie finished preparing Jay, before opening the door. Instantly Anthony went to up to Jackie and hit his leg-before trying to reach up to his twin brother, "JJ! JJ!"

Jamie began to squirm in Jackie's arms, hearing the voice of his brother and wanting to be with him.
With a sigh, Jackie carefully set Jamie down, watching Anthony quickly pull his brother close.

Looking up to Henrik, Jackie rose a brow, "Someone knocked??? It must be the babysitter. C'mon boys. Let's go down and meet him"

Leading the way downstairs, Chase was sitting on the coach with Robbie-Robbie was busy coloring to pay attention while Chase kept an eye on the door.

Taking another deep breath-Jackie heads over to the door and opens it with a friendly smile, though it quickly turns to a shocked and almost flustered smile at seeing who was at the other side of the door.

"Uh...are you Marvin? Right??"

"Yes, you must be Jackie correct?? Mr.Jackleman?"

"Yes! Please call me Jackie...uh come on in!"

Marvin smiles softly as he enters. He wasn't how Jackie image would look-but not in a bad way. Marvin has long hair that was tied into a bun, a bit of a stubble-yet styled out with incredible clothes. He seemed like he actually put effort on his looks-wearing some nice creamy white pants with an orange top-all while Jackie was wearing some simple sweatpants and tank top.

Marvin looked around the area with a soft smile, before making eye contact with a kid that was simply peeking around a wall. Only for more heads to pop out as well-staring at Marvin with curiosity.

Jackie shut the door, before turning around and chuckling. He saw almost everyone-except Jay-staring at Marvin.

"Let's go to the living room-and I can introduce you to the boys"

Instantly-the heads disappeared as Marvin and Jackie walked into the living room.

Marvin was led to a coach-watching as the kids were looking at him like he had three heads-which was fair since he was a stranger to them.

Though Marvin took notice that one kid wasn’t looking at him-instead he was playing with some building blocks, though a boy who looked really similar was standing right beside the boy.

"Boys...this is Marvin...he might be your babysitter-for when I need to go out to work" Jackie began to explain, Marvin waving softly at the kids.

"It's lovely meeting you guys...what are your names?" Marvin wanted the kids to grow comfortable enough with him-so what better way to start than having them introduce themselves!

The boys looked at each other-Jay stopped playing at the sound of someone new's voice. Henrik then stepped up, waving softly, "Uh...I Henrik..." he spoke softly.

Marvin instantly took note of the accent. He stared at the boy a bit, trying to figure out what the boy had, only to be startled by the some random sound coming out from a kid.

Chase covered his mouth, seeming embarrassed for the sound he made. Yet, the strong embarrassment only made things worse-as he kept letting out small tics. His hand began to hit his chest, but Henrik quickly grabbed a pillow and helped the poor boy.

"So-sorry! I-BOOM!-I'm Chase-Ow!"  Chase tried speaking before hitting himself on the chest hard-even with the pillow there he could still feel it.

Jamie flinched at the sudden shout. His head shot up in worry. Unsure about what happened-instinctively reaching a hand out for Anthony.

Jackie frowns, "Chase you alright?"

"BOOM!-Need a breather" Chase says softly.

Jackie nods, "c'mon. Let's go out to the backyard a bit" he says as he walks over and gently sets a hand on Chase's back.
As they walked, Chase instinctively reached his free hand out and grabbed Henrik's hand. Tugging him with him. Henrik caught the hint-following behind and keeping the pillow on Chase's chest.

Marvin watched them walk off, hearing Chase's tics still clear as day. His gaze then went over to the three younger boys, giving them a friendly smile, "What are your guy's names?"

Robbie stared at the man, unsure what was going on. He blinked, looking over at Anthony and JJ-who stayed back a bit with the toy blocks. He soon waddles over to Marvin, looking at him curiously.

Marvin smiles softly at the young boy who was struggling making his way over. Once the kid was within arms reach, Marvin gently picked him up and set him down on the couch beside him.

Marvin gently ruffled the boy's hair, "what's your name Buddy?"

Robbie only lets out a giggle-clapping his hands before looking over. He bounces in his spot, "papa! Papa!" He cheers, looking over to where there was a door being opened and shut.

Marvin looks up and sees Jackie entering-this time by himself. He looked apologetic towards Marvin, before sitting down beside Robbie-letting the boy climb onto his lap.

"Sorry for taking a bit-as you could probably tell Chase is the one with Tourette's. Henrik has amputations"

Marvin nods before looking over at the boy on Jackie's lap, seeing the little one was staring up at him curiously.

"What's his name?"

"This is little one is Robbie. He's my biological son. He's got FAS....say hi Robbie" Jackie helped make Robbie wave a hand. Robbie only smiling brightly at Marvin as he giggles.

Jay could hear the voice of another person. He perked up-feeling like recognized the voice. He gets up-about to waddle over-only for a "humpft" to leave him as he was pulled back down by his brother.

Anthony kept an arm on Jay, blocking him from getting up again, keeping the boy close. He kept staring at Marvin with untrusting look-before looking over at Jackie.

Marvin looks over at the twins, trying to give a soft smile at them. "Who must you two be?" He asked softly. But Anthony didn't budge. He just stared silently at Marvin.

'They look familiar...from where though...' Marvin thinks while waiting for a sort of response-only growing uneasy from Anthony's stare.

Jackie rose a brow, "Anthony-wanna introduce yourself and JJ to Marvin?" He asked softly, trying to motion them over.

Anthony shook his head, "no!" He snapped. Furrowing his brows while he suddenly grabbed Jay's hand-getting up and leading his brother out of the room. Jamie followed behind-unsure where they were heading.

Jackie and Marvin watch Anthony walk out with Jay. Jackie feeling more confused on what had happened, "I-I'm so sorry about that...the one that talked is Anthony, he gets seizures, and the other is Jamie, he's blind and mute. Anthony is very protective over his brother" he informed.

Marvin hums, thinking about it all, "Well...how about I help you out today-see how you handle everything so I know what to do. So whenever you need me to babysit, I'll have an idea of what to do"

Marvin sees Jackie's bright smile, knowing now that Marvin was willing to take the job. Jackie nods, wiggling Robbie softly, "You hear that bud? We got y'all a babysitter!" He coos at Robbie, gently kissing his cheek and getting happy giggles from the young boy.

Marvin could only smile as he watched, he could tell this man cared for these kids deeply, even if it wasn't gonna be easy-he's always been up for a challenge.

Chapter 9: Why’s the child watching?

Summary:

Marvin stays to see how things go down at the house of Jackie in order to gather an idea of how to care for the children. Yet, why does one of the kids keep staring?

Chapter Text

Marvin and Jackie sat on the couch, in order for them to get to know each other and the kids even further.

"I'm still learning more and more about them, so whatever new thing you learn-it would be greatly appreciated if you could share"

Marvin nods as he takes some notes, before hearing footsteps enter. Looking up, Marvin sees Chase and Henrik walking in. Chase seemed tired, and had a bruised up hand-mainly around the knuckles.

Henrik was gently rubbing Chase's back as he looks at Jackie, "Uh...Chase hit vall bad. Need rub oil for vurple marks" he informed.

Chase looked down ashamed from having hit and punched the wall. But Jackie was more worried about the bruised hand. He quickly gets up, "Here sit down. I'll get the first aid kit" he rushed off to the bathroom.

Marvin watched Chase sit down a bit far from him. He looks at the boy with a concern look, "does this happen often?"

Chase gently shook his head. Henrik sitting down beside Chase and gently rubbing the bruised hand.

Marvin frowns, seeing the upset look on Chase, hearing the boy making some clicking sounds with his tongue before suddenly hitting Henrik's thigh.

Even if Henrik winced a bit, he didn't react too much-simply placing a pillow there and pulling the smaller into a soft hug.

Marvin could hear little apologies leaving the young boy. It broke Marvin's heart.

When Jackie came back-he was being followed by Anthony-JJ no where in sight or Robbie (who had gone off to play in his room)

As soon as Anthony saw Jackie was getting closer to the couch where Marvin was on, he froze at the entrance of the living room and stared at Marvin. His face was blank-just simply staring at Marvin and barely blinking.

"Lemme see your hand" Jackie spoke to Chase, crouching in front of him as he opened the first aid kit.

Chase showed his knuckles-continuing to make the clicking sounds.
Jackie worked on applying some healing cream on his hand-making sure to be gentle and patient as Chase kept moving and twitching because of his tics.

Marvin just watched silently, observing quietly before feeling a chill down his spine-a chill of being watched.
He looks up, before making eye contact with Anthony-who only kept staring at him. Marvin didn't know what to do-giving the kid a confused smile and a tiny wave....

But Anthony only narrowed his eyes before booking it out of there. Rushing off to where he had left off Jay-which was inside the pantry.

Jamie was sitting on a shelf his brother left him on-having managed to open a box of thin cookies and now kept himself occupied on munching on the cookies.

Marvin blinked-thinking nothing of it for now.

Until the second time it happened—

Jackie and Marvin were by now getting food ready for the kids. It was about to be supper time for the house, and everyone was getting hungry.

Marvin by now had taken little notes on his phone for things to keep in mind about each children.

As the two were in the kitchen cooking-Marvin looked at Jackie who was calmly cutting some chicken.

"So...why did you adopt 4 kids, especially knowing their disabilities?" Marvin asked curiously.

Jackie smiles softly while putting the chicken in the pasta, "Originally it was just gonna be two...Henrik and Anthony. But seeing how heartbroken they were from separating from their brother or friend...I couldn't. I just can't separate them, so why not get them all-even if I knew it'd be difficult"

Marvin smiles softly, "Well...that's sweet of you. They seem comfortable with you-even if it wasn't long since you got them"

Jackie chuckles softly as he nods, "so, why babysitting??"

Marvin helped stir the pot, "well I work from home-sometimes I go out and about-but I like kids. And I've cared for some before..." Marvin's voice trailed off when that shiver feeling came back to him once more.

Turning around, Marvin yelps seeing Anthony standing by the trash can, simply staring at Marvin again!

He gives another nervous smile, "h-hey..,Anthony right?"

Yet Anthony doesn't respond. He just narrows his eyes before walking out of the room. Not saying a word once.

Marvin turned back to Jackie, "is that normal of him? Just staring at people?"

Jackie blinks, shaking his head, "uh... I don't think so. He hasn't done that in the time I've had him...but then again you're the first person to visit our house since getting them"

Marvin nods confused, shaking his head and deciding to ignore it for now.

Until they were serving the food.

Marvin was helping serving the food on the plates before giving them to Jackie to set on the table. As he worked on the last plate, he was shocked when he felt a sudden tug on his pants.

Looking down-Marvin sees Anthony looking up at him, holding something behind his back. Marvin didn't think much of it-setting the plate down and crouching down to the height of Anthony, "Hey buddy...what's up?"

Anthony didn't say anything. Simply pulling out a dead frog from behind his back and giving it to Marvin. He pat Marvin's arm before stepping back and walking away. A small, "no...." Leaving him.

Marvin blinks, watching Anthony walk away before looking down at the dead frog in his hands. He makes a disgusted face, standing up properly as he sighs.

Jackie walked in just then, before seeing the dead frog in Marvin's hands, "Uhhh..."

"Your kid...Anthony...I don't know where he got it...but I feel like I should go..."

Jackie shook his head, "I-I'm sorry about that! I promise he's not usually like this! I'm not sure why he's acting like this!" Jackie let out frantically-quickly helping Marvin clean up.

Marvin only lets out a soft chuckle, "it's okay, it's not your fault. I think though the boy needs a break...Imma uh-I will go. I'll stay in touch and let me know when you need a babysitter"

Jackie helped Marvin make sure everything was okay before leading him to the door. Jackie watched him leave sadly, before sighing, "SUPPER TIME!"

Once supper was over and the kids were getting ready for bed-Jackie went to do his daily tuck ins.

He went to Robbie's room first, making sure his son was all dressed in his fuzzy pj's before tucking him in.
Jackie smiles softly at seeing Robbie almost instantly fall asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. He pressed a soft kiss to his forehead before shutting off the lights and turning on Robbie's nightlight.

Next he went to the twins room. There he saw Anthony sitting with JJ, simply fixing Jamie's hair while Jay held his stuffed animal close. He kept dozing off but would wake up almost immediately.

Jackie sighs, walking over to them, "c'mon boys...it's sleepy time." He hums, before looking at Anthony.

"Anthony...why did you give Marvin a dead frog?" He asked, crouching down to be leveled with the boy, "that wasn't okay, especially since he's trying to help us"

Anthony frowns, shaking his head, "no!" He snaps, crossing his arms.

"He's only trying to help. I need you to give him a chance..."

"No!"

"Anthony...I'm not arguing with you about this. Next time he comes, you'll need to tell him your sorry"

"No!"

Jackie just sighs, shaking his head. He picks Anthony up, "alright it's bed time." He mumbles, setting the boy in his own bed. He made sure to help tuck in Jamie-who was fast asleep by now.

As Jackie was stepping out of the room, he looked back and saw Anthony simply curling himself up into the blanket so only his head was popped out.
A gentle smile goes through Jackie, before sighing and closing the door. Heading to check on the older boys before calling it a night.

Chapter 10: The washing machine

Summary:

It’s Marvin’s first babysitting day, and the day is already starting to be a hassle. But he’s trying his best!

Chapter Text

"And just make sure that simple chores are done. Whatever doesn't get done I can definitely take care of later tonight!"

Jackie spoke to Marvin while he was carrying Jay. Anthony stood by Jackie, just looking up at his brother with a soft smile.

Marvin took note as he nods, "Okay perfect! Don't you worry-I think I got this all down" he smiles.

Jackie nods before looking down at JJ, "alrighty...I gotta go. You boys behave...I think Henrik is still asleep but I'm sure he awakes soon."

Carefully Jackie passed Jay to Marvin. JJ began to squirm softly, not recognizing the arms he was being handed to. Anthony didn't seem to like it as much though, and began hopping as he tried to grab Jay's leg.

Jackie quickly grabbed his bag before heading to the door, "good luck and I'll come back later tonight! Let me know about anything!"

Marvin watched Jackie leave before looking down when hearing Anthony let out what sounded like an angry whine.

Marvin stares for a bit before sighing as he walks to the kitchen, "how about some nice milk to start the day for you two? What would you guys like? Chocolate or-Hey!"

Anthony had followed before Marvin, kicking and hitting a bit, before suddenly grabbing his leg and biting Marvin.

Marvin shook Anthony off, "what's your problem, you little gremlin?!" Marvin scoffed, setting JJ on the counter beside him, "I honestly can't see how you and Jay even are related" he rolls his eyes.

Jamie meanwhile was still trying to figure out what was happening. He squirmed in his spot, before his tummy let out a small rumble. He pat his belly, letting out a soft whine.

Marvin looks over, smiling softly at JJ, "let's get you some milk. Do you want regular?" Upon seeing JJ nodding softly, Marvin got a sippy cup and filled it with some milk. He made sure the lid was tightly secure before handing it to JJ.

Anthony pouts, sitting down on the floor with furrowed brows. Marvin stared down at him, both having a small staring contest. Before a soft sigh left the adult, "you want some too? Regular or chocolate?"

Antony let out a tiny growl, "Jay!"

"If I put you beside him-will you stop attacking me?"

"Jay!!"

"It's a yes or no Anthony. That's not a proper response"

"...."

Both resorted back to staring at each other, until suddenly Chase and Henrik walked in, with Robbie in between them and holding both of their hands.

Chase stared a bit concerned, his head twitching occasionally.

"Ugh...fine." Marvin bent down and tried picking Anthony up, only for the boy to let out a loud shriek and start flaring around.

Anthony didn't even take notice of the headache he was beginning to get was only getting worse-until his eyes started dotting with black. His breathing started to pick up and before it sounded like it randomly got caught.

Marvin felt Anthony's body suddenly limp before it began to spasm. He yelps, quickly setting the boy down and taking off his jacket to put like a pillow under Anthony's head.

The others watched in worry, Robbie confused why one of the younger twin boys was spasming on the floor again.

Marvin had his watch out as he timed the seizure.

Henrik walked over, carefully pushing anything that was around them away, so that Anthony didn't hit it in accident. Chase made sure to stick by Robbie, keeping an eye out for JJ.

Jay heard something was happening, but simply drank his milk as he kicked his feet softly.

Once Anthony had calmed down, Marvin made sure he was still breathing before shifting the boy to his side. He let out a soft sigh, writing a quick note on his phone about what happened.

Henrik walked over and sat down beside the two, "He okay?" He asked gently. Looking at the boy who was still passed out.

Marvin gave Henrik a soft smile, "He's gonna be okay. The seizure must've made him tired. How about you and the others get something to drink while I help Anthony?"

Henrik blinks. He only could grasp some of the words Marvin said, giving him a small-confused nod before heading back to Chase.

"Where's Jackie?" Chase voiced, looking around to see if he could spot the man who adopted them. Still holding Robbie's hand.

"Jackie had to go to work. He had to leave early in the morning but-BOOM!!" Marvin let out a Yelp at the sudden yell from behind him.

Jamie let out a silent scream and burst into tears-having gotten startled by the sudden yell as well. In his startled state, he accidentally dropped his sippy cup-it falling down to the floor. In the process, the lid popped off and splashed all over Marvin.

Marvin flinched and looks back, seeing Chase covering his mouth in embarrassment and a sort of regret, "s-sorry-BOOM!-Sorry!" The boy tired up.

Marvin gives a tiny smile at Chase, "It's not your fault.." he mumbles. Getting up and grabbing some paper towels to try and pat his clothes dry, 'I really liked this shirt too...' he thinks sadly.

Chase rushed to get some paper towels, wanting to help clean up the mess on the floor. But in his heighten anxious state-he kept on ticking. At one point slamming his hand on a puddle of milk, making the mess worse and splashing more onto Marvin and some on himself.

"Oh-AH!-oh my! I'm so sorry!!"

Marvin put on a soft smile as he wiped the milk off his cheek. He hums, "It's fine...here, I can clean up. How about you take Jay with you and the others to the living room? Play a bit while I deal with Anthony and make some breakfast." He offered.

Chase felt himself tear up but nods. He looks to the side as he helps Jay to come down. Holding the boy's hand while shuffling to the living room with Henrik and Robbie.

Marvin sighs, grabbing more paper towels while cleaning himself and the floor. He looks down at Anthony as soon as he sees the boy stir. Squatting down beside him, "Hey...how ya feeling buddy?"

Anthony rubs his eyes as he sits up. He made an uncomfortable sound, feeling nauseous but not knowing how to express it.

"N-mmm-no" Anthony tried speaking, his voice sounding a bit troubled as he whines softly.

Marvin helps Anthony sit up as he shakes his head, "Deep breaths. Let it calm down."

As the little boy tried to take some deep breaths, the nauseous sensation only grew before suddenly some of the vomit started to escape his mouth.

Marvin was quick to grab paper and try to catch as much as he could on the paper, picking the boy up and leading him to the sick. Anthony beginning to burst into tears while vomiting once more.

"It's okay. Breathe. Through your nose hon...just like that. Let it out. It's okay" Marvin tried calming the boy down. Making sure the water was running to wash down the vomit and avoid the smell spreading as much as he could.

Once Anthony was done, the little boy was crying as he trembled. Marvin making sure to clean his face with a wet rag, "You thirsty?? What do you need Anthony?" He asked softly.

Anthony rubs his eyes as he let out a whimper, a small nod leaving him.

Marvin sighs, grabbing small sippy cup with water and then getting an ice cube. He first gives Anthony the cube, "suck on that first. And once your done with it here is some water"

Anthony nodded, hopping down and being handed the ice cube and the sippy cup. He waddles off to the living room to see the others. Though still feeling sleepy. Marvin being left alone to clean up the kitchen and himself.

Entering the living room, Jamie and Robbie were seated on the couch, both very confused on what happened. Henrik meanwhile was hugging Chase and trying to calm him down-who was crying while his tics were going haywire.

Anthony watched confused and tired, before simply waddling to a spot on the floor and sitting down. His eyes fighting to stay awake as he sucked on the ice cube.

Chase was to busy crying to notice, his hand continuously hitting his leg. Henrik tried putting a pillow there to lessen the hit on the skin, but knows either way his friend was gonna bruise. Henrik rubbed Chase's back,

"It okay. No hurt someone. No you fault"  Henrik reassured quietly.

Looking up from Henrik's shoulder, Chase rubs his watery eyes, sniffing softly, "b-but-AH!-but he didn't want my help cause I made it worse!"

Anthony saw Chase crying more. He furrows his eyebrows, unsure what went on-until Marvin walked in. As soon as Chase saw Marvin enter, he was desperately trying to wipe his tears away.

Anthony stood up, stomping over to Marvin before suddenly kicking his leg. Figuring that Marvin must've done something to Chase.

Marvin yelped at the kick, looking down at the one year old, "Hey, that wasn't nice"

"Meanie!" Anthony claimed, going for another kick, only for Marvin to sigh and pick the boy up.

Anthony began thrashing again, biting Marvin's shoulder and arms, " down!! Down!!"

Marvin was about to talk with Anthony again before seeing Chase's teary eyes. He frowns, setting Anthony on the couch, "hey...what's the matter Chase? Why you crying?"

Chase looks down, staying close to Henrik as he mumbles quietly-Marvin didn't hear.

"You have to speak louder hon. Here how about we sit down"

Marvin sat on a couch, patting the spot next to him.

None of them having noticed Jay waddling off. Chase sitting beside Marvin while Henrik followed and sat on the other side of Chase.

Robbie crawled off his seat, before stumbling over to Henrik. Grabbing onto the boys pants and trying to climb up to his lap.

Henrik yelps feeling this-looking down at the boy, a nervous smile on his lips before gently setting him on his lap. Henrik hugged Robbie close, the younger one sticking his thumb in his own mouth while snuggling to the older boy.

"Now talk to me...why are you crying?"

"I wanna help-but-but-Ow!" Chase tried explaining but hit himself in the chest, making him wince. Before Henrik could react, Marvin grabbed a pillow and held it in place of Chase's hand.

" go on... 'but' what hon?"

"I made it worse! You-AH! You were upset. It was my fault the mess was made anyways!"

Marvin frowns as he listens to Chase. He rubs the boy's back as he shakes his head, "It wasn't your fault hon. I wasn't upset at you. I promise okay? Would some breakfast make you feel better?"

Chase nods softly, small hiccups leaving him as he rubs his eyes. Trying to calm himself down to also calm down his tics.

Marvin looks at the other kids, "Well I have some eggs and bacon already prepared, how about let's go eat, and meanwhile I can make some pancakes for you guys. That sounds good?"

Getting nods, Marvin watched the kids walk off to go eat, but he couldn't help but feel like someone was missing.

"1...2...3...4...there should be 5..."

"Jamie?? Jay??"

Hearing Anthony calling out for his twin made Marvin realize who was missing. He stood up, looking around, "Jay??where did you go hon??"

Meanwhile JJ had wondered off to where he thought was the kitchen-but actually ended up in the laundry room. He was feeling around-unsure where he was, but wanting a snack.

The washing machine door was left open, and Jay thought it was a cabinet door, without even thinking, he tried climbing on to feel inside-only to end up falling in the washing machine instead. A silent yelp leaving him.

"Anthony go eat with the others, I'll try finding Jay"

"No! Jay!"

"Yes I know. But I can find him, go eat. He couldn't have gone to many places, he's blind"

"No!"

"I don't need to fight with a one year old. Go eat Anthony"

Anthony simply stuck his tongue out before continuing to look around for Jay. Looking underneath the couch.

Marvin was about to say something before he heard a sound coming from the laundry room.

JJ was trying to get out of the washer, but whenever he stood up-he'd thunk his head on the top of the washer. It made him stumble and fall back on his bum-the wheel of the washer swaying a bit and catching him off balance.

Marvin walked into the laundry room-seeing how everything seemed remotely normal.
The dirty hamper was full with clothes he needs to wash.
The laundry materials and soap was in their places in a cabinet.
The machines were off with the doors open.
The wheel inside the washer was moving...wait-

Marvin quickly rushed over and spotted Jamie
inside, the little boy having a frustrated look. A simple sigh leaves Marvin's lips as he gently goes to take the boy out, "How in the world did you even manage to get in there..."

Jamie let out a cry when he was suddenly grabbed and take out of the enclosed space he was in. He starts to squirm frantically.

"Jamie stop. I'm trying to help you"

Jay ignored the man, he didn't know him. It wasn't the voice of Jackie. It was the random man that had come to their home. He couldn't hear his brother anywhere, "An-An!!" He mouths as he kept thrashing.

"Oh my goodness...Jameson! Stop thrashing, I need to check if your hurt"

Jamie instantly froze at his full name being used. He began to tear up before bursting into tears. Shaking his head, while trembling.

Marvin frowns at that reaction. He walks back to the living room, to set JJ down on the couch, only for Anthony to come running at him.

"Jay!!"

Jamie perked up at the sound of his brother's voice, he instantly squirmed, reaching out towards the sound as he cries.

Anthony went over, kicking Marvin's legs, "Down!! Jay down!!"

Jay's little feet began to kick, continuing to reach for his brother while crying.

Henrik could hear the commotion in the hall. He stood up from the table, "stay. Eat" he tells Chase and Robbie before wondering to the hall with curiosity.

He saw Marvin struggling with JJ and Anthony. Before the older man finally simply gave up and set JJ down.

Jay instantly rushed to his brother, feeling Anthony grab his arm and hold him close. He was crying into his brother's shoulder while Anthony narrowed his eyes at Marvin.

Henrik wondered over, standing beside Anthony and Jay, "Hey...it okay...come eat. Feel better vith tummy full." He spoke softly, gently guiding the two young ones away.

Marvin watched as the three walked away. A small sigh leaving him.

The rest of the day was also difficult. Anthony refused to let Marvin close to Jay.
Though the smaller one seemed more content just simply playing with some stuff animals.

All the other kids were playing around-at one point Chase was playing a game on the tv with Henrik, which helpfully distracted the other boys.

Marvin took a deep breath as he stood in the kitchen. He finished some chores and it was now late. The amount of times he had small arguments with Anthony over the smallest things was shocking. The little boy was full of fire, unlike his twin brother.

He had written everything that has happened during his time there-just as notes for Jackie.

Speaking of which-the door knob jiggled a bit before it opened and in came Jackie. The hero looked exhausted, panting softly as he tidied himself up.

Robbie was the first child to hear the door open. He looks over, before a big smile goes to his face and he rushed over-stumbling along the way.
"Papa!! Papa!!"

"Hey little champ! You had a good day??" Jackie scooped the little boy up-pressing soft kisses to his cheek.

Robbie nods, "M'd'aw papa an' me!" He giggles. Pointing over to the living room floor where there was a piece of paper that had three blobs.

Jackie smiles, walking over and picking up the sheet. He saw the other boys were doing their own thing-though some looked tired. But then sees Marvin come to the entrance of the living room with three bottles of milk.

Marvin sees Jackie, smiling softly at him as he goes and gives two of the sippy cups to Jay and Anthony. The third bottle was for Robbie. He walked over to Jackie, who held the boy, "Here Robbie. Some milk"

Robbie looked back at Marvin. He smiles, grabbing the sippy cup and drinking some milk while leaning against his dad's shoulder.

"Hey...how were the kids today?" Jackie spoke softly, swaying Robbie in his arms.

Marvin looked back, seeing the kids were basically half asleep, "lemme put them to bed first. I wrote some notes on the kitchen counter though if you want to look at them."

Jackie perked up, "let me help you!"

With a thankful smile, Marvin nods as he goes to get the kids to bed.

The only ones that Marvin had trouble with was Anthony and JJ. No surprise there. Anthony refused to go with Marvin, or even let Jay go up with the man either.

Jackie was helping Henrik to sleep. Chase fell asleep pretty quickly by how tired the boy was. Yet, Henrik was struggling.
The German boy's amputations were in pain. He didn't know how to describe it to Jackie. Not knowing how to find the words as he trembled in pain.

Jackie was seated beside Henrik, rubbing and massaging the boy's amputated arm with some soothing lotion, "It's okay...I need to know, where does it hurt? What are you feeling?"

Henrik was crying at this point, "arm! Sore" he tried to keep his voice quiet as possible-not wanting to wake Chase.

"Did you take your prosthetics off at all today?"

Henrik gently shook his head. Looking down ashamed. He didn't want to expose or show his amputations to Marvin, feeling embarrassed about his missing limbs.

Jackie sighs, "Tomorrow, I don't want you wearing your prosthetics all day. They need a break...okay? I promise Marvin won't judge. He understands. He's here to help you." He spoke softly.

Henrik nods, sniffing as he yawns. He could feel the soothing cream helping a bit to calm the pain. Henrik sighs softly, "Danke papa" he mumbles tiredly. Slowly falling asleep, not seeing Jackie's shocked face.

After a bit, Jackie finally got up. He fixed the blanket of Henrik, tears pooling up in his eyes as he quietly walked out. Wiping his eyes with a bright smile. Outside in the hall was Marvin, looking tired.

"Long day with the kids huh?"

"I don't know how you do it...but goodness it can be a struggle" Marvin spoke with a light chuckle, "come, I'll let you know what happened today and then I'll get out of your hair"

Jackie smiles, "I'll get you something to drink, whatever you want!" nodding and following beside the man to hear about the day.

Chapter 11: Stories always help calm a storm

Summary:

Marvin once more babysitting, yet later a storm comes rolling in. Good thing he comes prepared enough!

Chapter Text

"I'm so sorry I'm running a bit late! I'll be there as soon as I get out of this road. I'm like 9 minutes away!"

"It's all good! The boys are just now waking up anyways. But I have to get going soon, so probably whe-Ow! Anthony stop. That's not nice to do-"

Marvin chuckles hearing Anthony with a tired voice arguing with Jackie.

"I let you sleep longer than everyone else, it's time to wake up"

"No! No wanna!"

"Look, Jamie is awake and ready for the day. C'mon now. It's time to start the day"

"Nuh-uh!"

"Hold up Marvin....Anthony come now"

Marvin was just pulling up to the house when he heard a screech of a child on the other end of the phone call. He winced, looking at his phone with a concerned look, "hey Jackie-" yet his voice got overrun by the sound of crying.

Jackie sighs, carrying a pouting and crying Anthony with one arm while his other hand was holding Jay's hand. He brought the twins downstairs where Henrik was sitting perched on the back of the couch-looking out the window.

The older boy didn't have any of his prosthetics on, staring anxiously at the car that parked at the driveway.

Once Henrik saw Marvin get out of the car, they made slight eye contact. Making Henrik yelp softly as he ducks down a bit. Looking down at his limbs with sadness and worry.

Marvin went up to the door and knocked-waiting patiently for someone to open. When the door finally did open-he expected it to be Jackie, but instead it was Chase. The voice of Jackie arguing with Anthony being loud and clear.

"Good morning Chase. Did you sleep well?"

Chase blinks, rubbing his eyes softly. His bed hair all over the place as he nods. Letting Marvin inside, Chase goes back to the kitchen to get his cup of milk.

Jackie came into view as he held Anthony with both arms this time, "Look, Marvin is here! If I let you sleep a bit more, will you promise to cooperate with Marvy today?"

Anthony was in the middle of hiting and kicking Jackie when he saw Marvin. He glared softly at him, his eyes clearly tired. Anthony pouts, making small huffs and puffs before nodding.

Jackie let out a relieved breathe, "Okay you can sleep on the couch, but once Marvy tells you to wake up-you have to listen. No more fighting today please"

As he talked, Jackie was setting Anthony down on the couch, making sure the boy was wrapped up in a blanket. The young, feisty boy was already closing his eyes, fighting with himself to stay awake, before falling back to sleep.

Henrik was curled up in a corner of a seat, still in pajamas as he only looked at Anthony sleeping.

Chase walks in the living room, a cup of milk in hand while he was being followed by Robbie and JJ, hair still a mess.

"Boys, I have to go to work now. Be nice to Marvin okay. I'll be back later" Jackie spoke softly, ruffling Chase's hair to get a smile from the boy. He pressed a soft head kiss to Robbie's head and gently ran his hands through Jay's hair.

Once Jackie looked at Henrik, he smiles softly at the German boy, giving him a soft kiss on the head, "you're okay. I promise. If you need anything, have Marvin call me okay? I'll see you later kiddo"

Henrik frowns, nodding softly as he hugs Jackie quickly before watching the man leave.

The whole time, Marvin was standing at the living room doorway, having a soft smile as he watches Jackie and the kids.

"I'll let you know if anything happens. See you soon, be safe" Marvin hums to Jackie.

Once it was heard that Jackie left, Marvin looks back at the boys, seeing they're all just starting to fully awaken.

Henrik stayed seated on the couch, fiddling with his sleeve uncomfortably, avoiding to look at Marvin.

Taking note of this, Marvin walked over, sitting beside the boy, while keeping space in between.

"Hey, you hungry? Wanna help me make some breakfast??"

Henrik stared at Marvin silently. Before giving a small nod. As soon as he saw Marvin stand up, he hesitantly grabbed his crutches. Slowly, Henrik followed behind. Feeling glad that at least Marvin didn't question about his amputations.

Inside the kitchen, Marvin was getting things ready to make some pancakes. He gives Henrik a soft smile, "go ahead and sit, you'll help me with mixing"

After a bit to get comfortable, Henrik sat at the table, mixing the batter together.

As they worked, Marvin working on cooking up some bacon and eggs, they were startled when suddenly a crash sound came from the hallway.

Quickly setting his items down, Marvin rushed towards the sound, hearing soft hits on the wall and recognizing Chase's ticking sounded.

Upon entering the hallway, he spots Chase, seeming freaked out as he tried picking up pieces of a vase and a toppled over table.

Tears were pricking Chase's eyes, his tics seeming more fired up while he tried putting the stuff together. Occasionally his hand slamming either to the wall or on the table.

Marvin frowns, rushing over as crouching to help pick up the ceramic pieces, "Here let me help. I can explain to Jackie, but no need for tears sweetie"

Tears were already falling down Chase's face as he tried to help. Only to accidentally make it worse by slamming the pieces down, making more of a mess.  "I-I, NO! I am sorry!! Didn't meant to!"

Marvin nods softly, before seeing the mess. He takes a deep breath before looking back, seeing Henrik was making his way over.

"How about you go with Henrik, get cleaned up and I'll take care of this"

"O-okay...m'sorry!"

Marvin just offers a soft, understanding smile before watching Chase get up. Henrik going off with the boy.

Quickly, Marvin gets a broom, cleaning up the pieces so the kids couldn't get hurt. Making a mental note to text Jackie about the vase as soon as he could.

While the day wasn't super eventful, of course there was still some stress.

When Anthony woke up, he was all fussy and hungry. Luckily enough though breakfast was ready for them to eat.
Though Jay made a mess of himself with syrup he ate with the pancakes. Now making Jay all fussy  about the sticky feeling in his face.

Robbie seemed to have no problem with the sticky mess on his face though. Seeming too focused on enjoying his breakfast.

Henrik, while he had trouble using his hand to eat, he did his best while helping make sure Chase didn't hurt himself or fling anymore food around on accident.

It was around evening when things were starting to become eventful.
Jackie was running late because of his job-which Marvin finally realized he never knew what Jackie worked as, yet now he was focused on calming 5  kids.

Now seemed to be the earth's perfect moment to do thunderstorms it seemed.

While Anthony seemed excited, the amount of excitement made Marvin nervous-especially when the boy wanted to get closer to the window. Not wanting to risk the boy exciting himself into passing out.

Jay, he instantly began to cry. The loud noise freaking him out since he couldn't see the source like his twin, his hands covering his ears.

Robbie seemed a mix of scared but curious. Letting out a scream every time there was a "boom" near by.

Henrik was trying to calm Chase, since the loud claps of thunder seemed to make the tics worse for the poor boy,

Marvin sighs, looking over at Anthony, seeing him bouncing on the balls of his feet, hands on the window sill as he looked out the window.
When there was another clap of Thunder, Anthony had a big smile as he squeals happily. Marvin noticed the boy doing little hops of happiness. Which consisted of doing little taps of his feet to the floor.

Though he was snapped out of it when Robbie let out another scream. Marvin rushed over to Robbie, picking him up and rocking the poor scared boy.

Robbie was covering his eyes, trembling in fear as he curled up against Marvin.

"BOOM! Ow-Boom!"

A thud sounded as Chase slammed his fist to the floor. He tears up, cradling his bruised hand while Henrik tried rubbing his hand. Feeling bad for his friend.

Marvin glanced over at JJ, seeing the boy covering his ears as his foggy dull eyes frantically "searched" the room.

Seemed like the only one having a good time was Anthony.

Then an idea came to Marvin's mind. He noticed Jackie had some speakers in the room. So, turning on the TV, Marvin looked for some calm instrumental music to play. Turning up the volume to try and muffle the sounds of the storm outside.

The music seemed to have caught the attention of some of the boys, who looked over at Marvin curiously.

Meanwhile, the older was digging in his bag as he pulled out a couple children's books, "hey guys, how about I read you a story while we wait for Jackie to get home?"

Chase smiles softly, the sounds of the music calming him down, only smaller-less hurtful tics coming out as he nods.

Jay heard this, hugging a stuff animal close as he nods.

Anthony looked back at Marvin with a curious look. More curious about he books he pulled out.

With a smile, seeing he got the attention of the boys, Marvin looks at the collection of stories, before picking one out and sitting in the middle of the living room.

"Come, get comfortable. How about I read you How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight"

Anthony instantly perked up seeing the t-Rex on the cover. He smiles happily, walking over and getting his brother to come with.

As the children sat near Marvin, the older smiled softly as he sat Robbie down. Beginning to use a soft voice to start reading out loud.

The sounds of the thunderstorm not as loud with the mix of soft music and Marvin's voice.

Henrik stayed beside Chase, catching some words he wanted to practice, all while keeping a hand on Chase's arm to help ground the boy.

That's how Jackie came back home. Upon entering the house, it was already late evening. Almost time for the kids to go to bed.

Stepping inside, Jackie was soaked in rain, shutting the door of the house quietly. Wondering how the boys behaved with Marvin. Though he was snapped out of his thoughts at the sound of a soft voice reading out loud-occasionally giggles from kids erupting.

Walking to the entrance of the living room, Jackie stood in awe as he looked at the scene before him.
There was Marvin sitting in the middle of the living room, reading another book. Having finished the Dinosaur book.
They had taken a small break, so Marvin cut up the boys some fruit for them to eat.

Chase was eating some mango with Henrik, occasionally ticking and dropping or stabbing the mango with his fork. Still focused on the second book Marvin was reading.
Henrik was mumbling to himself some English words as he ate, smiling as he listened to Marvin read. Eating whatever mango piece Chase would drop.

Robbie was munching on some blueberries, giggling at the funny voices that Marvin was giving the characters.

Anthony had a little bowl of pears. With one hand he was eating his fruit-the other hand hugging the first book close. He really loved the dinosaurs on the pages, and had basically taken the book from Marvin.
Jay was beside Anthony-eating some strawberries. He was rocking himself on the floor occasionally, listening to Marvin's voice.

Jackie smiles softly, a soft blush on his face as he took a quick picture before waiting until Marvin finished the story before making himself known. He smiles, "that was a good story"

Marvin looked up hearing Jackie's voice. He smiles gently before looking down at the kids, "Did you guys enjoy the story?"

A bunch of "yeah!"s came from the boys before Robbie stood up and ran to Jackie. Trying to bring him over to the others.

Jackie quickly shed off his wet coat as he picks Robbie up, "Okay boys, finish up your fruit and tell Marvin thank you and now it's time for sleepies."

Marvin was putting his books away, before looking at Anthony, seeing the boy still holding his book. He smiles, walking over to him and crouching in front of him, "Hey champ...wanna keep the book safe for me?"

Anthony looked up at the man, backing up a little before looking down at the book. He didn't want to give the book back, so with a small nod he holds the book closer. Without telling Marvin anything, he simply grabbed Jay's hand and guided him up.

Jackie was already helping put the little bowls away in the kitchen. Robbie slowly falling asleep in his arms as he smiles.

"Jamie, Anthony, come now. Let's go to bed."

Marvin watched Jackie take the younger kids to bed. Jamie giving a small wave to where he thought Marvin was. Even if he wasn't waving anywhere close to where Marvin was.

Marvin let out a soft chuckle before looking at the older kids, seeing Henrik helping Chase tidy up the younger boy's mess.

"Come you two. I'll tuck you in."

Henrik looked over at Marvin, before grabbing his crutches. The three going off to their room.

When both Jackie and Marvin were done-they both went to the kitchen. Talking softly about the kids.

"Anthony reslly loves Thunderstorms I learned. He was all excited seeing them"

"Why doesn't that shock me. He definitely would be the type...thanks by the way for giving him the book. He didn't want to let go of it-had to show him I was placing it in the bedside table. So now I know he loves dinosaurs"

Marvin laughed softly, sitting on a stool while holding a cup of apple juice. He looks down at his drink, "I thought I was sorta getting along with him today...Oh! Chase accidentally broke one of your vase's. I'm sorry about that. I can try to fix it!"

Jackie was looking at Marvin, standing against a counter as he smiles, "nah it's fine. I can buy a new one."

"I'll pay for it. Poor boy was so scared and anxious. But he's such a sweetheart. They're growing on me. Even with whatever disability they have"

Marvin had a smile on his face as he looked up at Jackie. He could see how exhausted and tired the man looked. Even having some bruises on his face, it lead back to his thought from before, "Hey, what do you work as? Also you okay? You look bruised"

Jackie looked to the side, thinking a bit, "Imma be okay. And I'll tell you another day. It's getting late and I'm sure you want to go home and rest. I don't wanna keep you all night"

Marvin stared a bit. Before nodding. He sighs as he got up, grabbing his bag, "Take care Jackie. I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Yeah, same time. Thanks Marvin. Have a good night"

"You too"

Chapter Text

Jackie sighs as he got another call as soon as he finished helping from a robbery. He looks at the location before taking off, 'there goes getting home early today...'

Meanwhile Marvin was internally screaming. It's almost like the kids woke up and chose to have a difficult day. Though he knows he can't blame the kids for having a difficult day. It wasn't a planned thing, clearly.

It started in the morning, Marvin had already had a banter with Anthony about waking up and now Henrik wasn't feeling well. He had been complaining about a sort of pain in his tummy, so Marvin let him sleep longer.

Yet, that seemed to have made Anthony fussy, for what seemed like a weird reason at first. So of course, Marvin spent a good while arguing with the toddler about leaving Henrik's door alone.
Only, Marvin wished he would've also opened the door sooner. The next sounds he heard were the noises of a child vomiting and crying.

Quickly, Marvin rushed to open the door, spotting Henrik hunched over and vomiting on the floor. Anthony standing at the door and giving Marvin a look almost like a 'told you so'. The older decided to ignore that look for now, rushing to help the sick child.

Henrik was gasping softly as he cried, feeling bad for having vomited on the floor. When he suddenly felt the sensation in his mouth, he tried getting up as fast as he could, but apparently not fast enough.

Marvin was holding back the longer pieces of Henrik's hair, humming softly to the boy. As soon as he was done, he rubbed his back, "come now, let's start a nice bath for you, then we'll get you some nice warm tea to drink."
Gently, he lead Henrik towards the bathroom, being mindful of the mess on the floor.

After making sure Henrik didn't need any help to shower, Marvin quickly went to clean up the mess, having to basically drag Anthony out of the room again, so the young one also doesn't get sick.

After that whole fiasco of a morning, you'd think things would've calmed down. Apparently not. Jackie was supposed to come back early, after the message from Marvin about Henrik's little sickness, yet it seems like the man was caught up busy with whatever his job was.

Generally that wouldn't be a problem, if it weren't for Chase having gotten hurt. Seems like with Henrik feeling ill and vomiting, Chase's tics were a bit more active from the concern he felt.

Every once in a while, Marvin would hear a thud and a small voice expressing his pain.

Currently, Marvin was putting some of Henrik's sheets to wash, before suddenly heard Chase yell "BOOM" and then a loud bang sound. A couple of seconds later, another loud hit sound, this time followed by a whine of pain.

Marvin rushed out of the laundry room, turning the corner, spotting Chase in the hallway cradling his hand.
There was a dent on the corner of the wall, yet what worried him the most was the stain of blood on top of the dent. Marvin ran over to the boy, not seeing the other younger kids have wondered into the hall way as well to see what was going on.

Chase was trying to hold in his tears, a plastic cup of water laid on the floor, water spilled on the wooden tiles.

Marvin crouched in front of the boy, gently grabbing his wrist, "Here, lemme see. Let's see what I can do to make it feel better."

With some hesitancy, Chase showed him his hand. His knuckles in his right hand were all bruised up, bleeding just a little bit.

His hand began to tremble even more, Chase trying his best to hold more tears in. He looks down in shame, "I-I'm sorry. I didn't-I didn't-AH EGGS!- I didn't want to hit the-the wall!"

Right then, the tears began to fall. Chase glanced at the fallen cup, "I just-just wanted—wanted to give Henny water"

In the middle of his sentence, Chase let out a couple of sounds. His tics feeling like they're acting up. Marvin frowns, before gently standing while holding Chase's hand. "It's okay sweetie, it wasn't your fault. Let's patch you up and then we can go get Henrik some water. "

With a gentle hold, Marvin cups Chase's cheek so the boy looked at him and gently wiped his tears away. He gives the little one a soft smile before leading them to the bathroom. Making a mental note of sending Jackie another message.

A couple minutes later, Chase and Marvin walk out of the bathroom, Chase's knuckles all bandaged up. Marvin followed behind the boy, sending a quick text to Jackie once again about what happened. Together, they went to the kitchen to get a cup of water, Marvin giving chase a plate of cut bananas and some applesauce as well, "Lets go pay Henrik a visit, yeah?"

Right then, Robbie was standing by the doorway of the kitchen. He was staring at the two, before going up to Marvin with his arms stretched up, a tiny whine sound leaving him.

Chase was walking ahead, holding the two items in hand with a strong grip, afraid of dropping it. Tiny sounds leaving him occasionally. Marvin followed behind, looking down at the younger child, before picking him up.

Robbie instantly clung to Marvin, a small, happy sound leaving him as he lays his head on the older's shoulder.

Upon entering Henrik's room, Chase frowns at seeing his brother simply laying in bed, all curled up. A worried sound left the boy.

Marvin adjusted Robbie on his hip before walking over, "Henrik, how are you feeling hon?"

A tiny whine left the German boy, as he turned around slightly. A small smile came to his face, seeing Chase and Robbie. Once he looked at Marvin, he adjusted himself to look at the adult, "Tummy tiny pain"

A frown came to Marvin's face, nodding gently, "Your dad should be coming soon, meanwhile Chase brought you some water and something to eat. Hopefully to calm your tummy."

With a small bit of trouble with his tics, Chase sat on the edge of Henrik's bed, giving the boy the food, helping him eat since his amputations were off at the moment.

Right then, Marvin felt his phone vibrate. Taking it out, a sigh of relief left him seeing it was Jackie.

'I'm sorry I was delayed. I'm on the way now' The message read. Marvin smiles before looking at the older boys, "I am going to go check on the others. You boys okay if I leave you here?"

Both Chase and Henrik gave a small nod as Henrik continues to eat small bites. With that, Marvin makes his way out, "Yell for me if you need me"

Heading downstairs, Robbie stayed clinging to Marvin, while the older went to check on the other younger twins.
Entering the living room, he spots them just sprawled on their bellies, Anthony busy with making drawings with marker, his hands getting all messy.
Jamie had a stuff animal with him, gently sucking on the ear of the stuffie as he had. He was content just laying there and listening to Anthony babble about his artwork.

Just as Marvin was going to walk over to them, he glanced at the window and spotted Jackie parking his car beside his in the drive-way, making a soft smile appear on his face.

The relieved smile slowly went away, seeing how bruised up Jackie's face looked, what worried him the most was his bleeding lip. Jackie opened the door to the house and was instantly greeted by Marvin's worried face. The babysitter was still carrying a, now, sleeping Robbie, before suddenly grabbing Jackie's jaw and inspecting his face.

"Hello to you too" Jackie still chirped quietly, a smile on his face.

"How did this happen?! Are you okay? Come, let me patch you up"

"I'm okay. How are the boys?"

Marvin grabbed onto Jackie's arm, looking at him with furrowed brows. He eyed his face once more, shaking his head, "the boys can't see you like this. Now c'mon."

The two walked into the kitchen, Jackie sitting on a counter, watching Marvin frantic around for the first aid kit, all while trying his best to not make much movement in order to not wake Robbie.

"Here lemme take him." Jackie had his arms outstretched to take his son in his arms.

When Marvin tried, the sleeping boy only let out a whine, clinging onto Marvin's shirt tighter. The 1 year old stirred, small whimpers leaving him. The older tried humming softly to calm him down, yet it seemed that the child had a firm grip on him.

Jackie sighs, trying his best to gently help, yet that seemed to not work. As soon as they got the boy to let go of Marvin, he woke up and began to cry. Jackie winced, trying his best to sway and calm his son, talking to him quietly.

"Why are you crying champ? It's me, papa"

Robbie looked at his dad, teary eyes closing as he leaned against his chest. Small sniffles leaving him, "papa..."

Marvin watched with a soft smile, before coming closer and gently running his hands through Robbie's hair, "Go back to sleep, Robbie. It's okay."

Slowly, the boy went back to sleep, sticking his thumb in his mouth as he started to sleep.

Jackie looked up at Marvin, smiling softly, finally allowing the man to patch him up. He didn't realize his face turning a soft pink as he felt the gentle hands of Marvin.

Only turning more red as Marvin worked on his split lip.

"You should really be careful out there." The soft voice of Marvin sounded gently, his eyes mainly focused on what he was doing, not seeing Jackie blushing harder.

Just as Marvin was finishing up, Jackie opened his mouth to speak, only to be interrupted by a yell upstairs.

"Marvin!" Chase called.

"...I better go get that" and with that Marvin hurried putting the items away before rushing upstairs, holding his hair up along the way. Leaving Jackie with his son, watching Marvin rush away.

He sat there a bit, before a sigh left him, getting up to check and make sure the younger twins were alright.

As the day went on, Henrik was finally feeling better. Marvin had stayed, per Henrik's request, as he made sure the kid was okay. Making sure to also change Chase's bandages and checking on both his hands and Jackie's wounds throughout the day.

Even if it was a bit of a bad day, Marvin and Jackie were glad the kids were doing alright.

Jackie would help whenever he could, mainly helping to care for the younger boys and keeping them away from Henrik so they don't get sick.

Marvin meanwhile was making some nice chicken broth, hoping it'll calm Henrik's stomach bug. As he worked, he was humming softly to some music.
Jackie entered, carrying Jay who was sucking on a pacifier.
A sigh left him as he walked over, "anything I can do to help?"

Glancing over his shoulder, Marvin shrugs, "I'm almost done, should at least sooth Henrik's stomach."

"Thank you, by the way. For staying and helping me with the boys."

Marvin smiled, giving the other a wink, "of course. They have grown on me, so I would love to just come help care for them whenever you need."

Jay could hear the voice of Marvin, he began to squirm in the hold of Jackie, wanting to be set down. Jackie took notice, gently setting the boy down, keeping an eye on him as he talked.

As the two adults talked, while Marvin finished up, he felt a small tug on his jeans. Looking down, JJ was there, one hand up in a grabby motion.

"My hands are full, sweetie, I can't pick you up right now" A broken whine sound left JJ as he tugs on Marvin's pant legs again.

Marvin sighs, before suddenly letting out a yelp when Jackie appeared beside him, "Here I got the rest of the food."

Marvin looks at him, giving a gentle smile before handing the spoon he was stirring with to Jackie. Bending to pick up the little boy.

"Just let it boil, and it should be ready to serve"

Finally when the food was ready, Marvin stayed a bit during supper, helping Jay eat while enjoying a meal as well.

Jackie sat with them, listening to the boys talk about their day, and checking in with Henrik. He couldn't help but glance up where Marvin was, seeing him helping Jay while Anthony stayed silent while watching his brother. Keeping an eye to make sure he doesn't get hurt.

Jackie smiled, not realizing a small blush brushed over his face.

'Maybe I should get to know him more. I'll invite him to go on a walk maybe one day...' Jackie thought as they finished up supper.
