Chapter Text

Waverly had invited her sister to come to Shorty’s while she was working at Country Western Night to which she said yes to. So, after she took a shower and dried off in the bathroom while wearing a towel wrapped around her body and one wrapped around her hair like an ice cream cone she walked to her closet to find an outfit.

She decided on a black tank top, a brown fringe and tassel jacket. blue jeans, black cowgirl boots and a black Stetson.

She checked herself all dressed up in the mirror before heading downstairs and outside to her truck.

When she arrived at Shorty’s, Waverly already had a glass of whiskey on the rocks waiting for her (her go-to drink).

As she put her glass on the bar for another drink a man walked up beside Wynonna.

“Would you like to dance?” he asked.

Wynonna looked at Waverly before answering. She winked at her to say “go ”.

“Sure” she answered.

The man then took her hand and helped her down from the very high barstool and they proceeded to walk over to the dance floor as I Just Want To Dance With You by George Strait played through the speakers of the jukebox

After the slow dancing everyone then line danced before the night ended.

Once all the dancing was done Wynonna helped Waverly clean the bar and the other areas before leaving.

Wynonna was too busy cleaning to realize the man had left but he did manage to leave his number for her at the bar before leaving.

After cleaning she opened the slip of paper.

John Henry :)

403-103-8224

She then slipped the paper into her back pocket before sitting back down at the bar waiting for Waverly to finish up because she was her ride home

Waverly was watching Father of The Bride when she heard rapid knocking on her bedroom door.

“ WAVES,OPEN UP!”  Wynonna shouted.

A few seconds later Waverly opened the door.

“Wynonna, what’s wrong?” she asked.

“That guy I was dancing with last night left me his number and I can’t tell if he really likes me or not” she answered.

“Well, as a hopeless romantic you can truly tell if you let him kiss you” Waverly replied.

“Ok thanks for the advice babygirl” Wynonna said before leaving the room.

Check Yes or No By George Strait (1995)

Chapter Text

Monday

Wynonna knew while walking into Biology class that giving a note to John Henry could go good or bad but she had to find out if he really liked her or if Friday night at Shorty’s was just a one-night thing.

Before taking her seat she placed the folded piece of paper on his desk. When she sat down he was already looking at the paper. She watched nervously as he checked his answer with this pencil.

When class ended he gave Wynonna back her paper and winked before leaving.

The note read: Will you go on a date with me? Check yes or no

He checked yes.

Wynonna held the piece of paper close to her chest and smiled with her eyes closed before she collected her supplies and left class.

Chapter Text

Saturday Night

Wynonna was finishing getting ready for her date when the doorbell rang.

“John Henry, come on in” Waverly said after she opened the door.

“Thank you very much Waverly” he replied with a smile and a tip of his hat.

“You’re welcome, Wynonna will be down in a minute”

A minute later, Wynonna walked down the steps wearing a mini red dress and black heels which was probably too dressy for a drive-in movie but she wanted to make a good first Impression.

Later That Night

Wynonna and John enjoyed the movie Thelma and Louise. He spent the majority of the night with his arm around her and held her close. Every time their hands touched to reach in for some popcorn blush appeared on both of their faces. They pretended like that didn’t happen as a few seconds later they both would take sips of their sodas without making eye contact.

12:30 AM

John Henry dropped Wynonna off back at the Homestead and walked her to the door like a gentleman. Before he left, he pulled her in for a kiss goodnight.

“Now he likes me” Wynonna said as she watched him drive away a few minutes later.

Chapter Text

Wynonna stopped by Shorty’s after work for a drink since Waverly was working. She sat down at the bar next to another brunette. Wynonna drank her whiskey and couldn’t help but notice a familiar name on the brunette’s phone.

“Excuse me, I don’t mean to eavesdrop, but I couldn’t help but notice that name in your phone, John, wouldn’t be John Henry, would it?” she asked.

“Yes, it is, he’s my boyfriend. Why do you ask?” the brunette answered curiously.

“ Because he’s also dating me too” Wynonna replied.

“ Oh really” the brunette replied with a raise of her eyebrow.

“ I’m Wynonna”

“ Rosita”

The two women then shook hands and got to know each other better over more drinks since it appears they now have something in common.

The Next Night

Wynonna was still mad about John Henry not telling her he was talking to another woman behind her back and she just so happened to have a dinner date planned with him tonight and she was ready to confront him.

Wynonna served him a bacon cheeseburger and fries with bacon that was burnt along with a glass of water for his drink.

“ So, I met Rosita last night” Wynonna said nonchalantly.

“ Who? “ cough, cough” John replied as he began choking due to spitting out his water.

“ You know the girl you’re dating while also dating me” she answered.

“ Wynonna, I can explain” he pleaded.

“ I DON’T WANT TO HEAR IT!, GET OUT OF MY HOUSE NOW!” she shouted.

He then stood up and walked out the kitchen door as Wynonna slammed it behind him.

They both then stood on opposite sides of the door both crying and heartbroken.

Wynonna spent the rest of the night watching movies with her sister crying in her arms and eating ice cream until she fell asleep.

Graduation Day has arrived and at this point Wynonna has not only broken up with John but Rosita has as well. So, this love triangle could get pretty awkward again as they have to all see each other while getting their diplomas.

When Rosita and Wynonna each went up to receive theirs, they gave each other a smile and wave.

But when John went up to receive his, Wynonna and Rosita made no eye contact with him and as he walked by them, they each gave a dirty look.

After a few drinks, Waverly went upstairs to use the bathroom. Before entering, she heard noises coming from her room so she went to investigate.

When she opened the door she couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Champ was making out with Stephanie Jones ON HER BED!

“ Waverly, wait!” he pleaded as he broke the kiss shortly after seeing her.

“ NO, WE’RE DONE CHAMP!” she shouted as she turned around and ran down the steps crying.

“Baby girl what’s wrong” was all Wynonna could say before her sister ran out of the house.

Chapter Text

Nicole’s house wasn’t very far from where she worked as a server at Pussy Willows which she hated but she made decent money so, she decided to walk home instead of getting a ride home from a co-worker.

As she was walking home, she noticed a brunette sitting on the sidewalk by a lamppost crying. She went over to investigate.

Once by the sidewalk, she sat down next to the brunette.

“Hi, I’m Nicole, what’s your name?” she asked.

The brunette didn’t say a word. Instead, she leaned over and cried on Nicole’s shoulder as she held her.

Chapter Text

“ Hi, I’m Waverly, sorry I cried all over your shoulder. I just found my boyfriend cheating on me” she said after she regained herself.

“ Well then Waverly, come with me” Nicole said as she held out her hand to help Waverly up.

“ Where are we going?” Waverly asked as she grabbed Nicole’s hand and was helped to her feet.

“ You’ll see” Nicole answered with a smirk.

Nicole and Waverly then walked to the nearest supermarket where once inside Nicole let Waverly pick out any two pints of ice cream she wanted.

She chose vegan chocolate chip cookie dough and vanilla.

Nicole then paid for the ice creams at the register. They then left the store and continued walking to her house hand-in-hand.

Once inside Nicole’s house. Waverly made herself comfortable on the couch while Nicole quickly grabbed two spoons from the top drawer in the kitchen so they could enjoy their ice cream before it melted.

Chapter Text

Nicole emerged from the kitchen a few minutes later with spoons and ice cream. She then handed Waverly a spoon and her pint of ice cream.

After about five minutes of eating her ice cream, Waverly sat hers down on the coffee table and then began kissing Nicole’s neck as drunk thoughts entered her mind. A few seconds later Nicole caught on to the moment and sat her ice cream down as well. When she sat back up on the couch, Waverly captured her lips.

After making out for a good five minutes, Waverly started to take off Nicole’s pants, but she was brought out of her thirsty state when she heard the sounds of a baseball game playing on the TV.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt you. It’s just that I’m a Atlanta Braves fan and living in Purgatory I don’t get to see them play much” Nicole said.

Waverly then stood up, rolled her eyes and walked away angry.

The Atlanta Braves would go on to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 5-1.

After the final out, Nicole turned off the TV and went to find Waverly.

She walked down to her bedroom and opened the door to find Waverly and her beagle puppy, Scout sleeping together. She smiled and closed the door quietly.

She then walked back out to the living room and laid a pillow down on the couch then walked over to the blanket bin and grabbed one.

She then laid down and fell asleep smiling.

“Good morning” Nicole said as she walked into the room holding Aspirin and a bottle of water in one hand and Scout’s leash and collar in the other.

“Here, take these while I take this little guy out for a walk” Nicole said as she handed the medication to Waverly and then put Scout’s collar around his neck.

“Do you mind if I tag along? I could use the fresh air” Waverly asked.

“Of course, we’ll meet you by the front door” Nicole answered before leaving the room with Scout.

After the walk, Waverly said bye and thank you to Nicole and Scout and then walked back home to the Homestead with one hand in her pocket smiling from ear to ear.

Once home, Waverly headed upstairs to Wynonna’s room. When she opened the door, she saw that Wynonna was watching A League of Their Own.

“Where did you run off too last night?” Wynonna asked.

“I ran to the nearest lamppost, sat on the sidewalk, cried, then I met this amazing girl and spent the night at her place” Waverly answered.

“So, you’re, ok?” Wynonna asked.

“Oh yeah I’ve forgotten all about Champ” Waverly answered.

“That’s good, I’m glad baby girl” Wynonna replied with a smile.

It had begun to rain, so Nicole and Waverly ran back to the car hand-in-hand.

Once at the car, Nicole quickly opened the door and let Waverly in.

Nicole then closed the passenger door and walked around to the driver’s side.

When she got inside and closed the door, she winced due to shoulder pain.

“How’s your shoulder?” Waverly asked.

“It’s sore but I won you that teddy bear. So It’s worth it” Nicole answered.

Waverly then hugged the bear.

When they arrived back at the homestead, Nicole opened Waverly’s door once again and helped her out of the car. She then walked Waverly to the front door with an umbrella in hand.

“Thank you for tonight. I had a great time” Waverly said.

“You’re welcome, I had a great time too” Nicole replied with a dimpled smile.

Waverly then got on her tippy toes and gave Nicole a goodnight kiss on the lips.

Nicole then touched her lips after the kiss was broken, smiled and walked away.

Waverly then smiled and waved as she watched Nicole drive away.

How Forever Feels by Kenny Chesney (1999)

Chapter Text

2 Months Later

Wynonna and Waverly are in South Carolina once again to say one final goodbye to summer before they both head off to college. Waverly will be attending the University of Georgia while Wynonna will be staying close to home attending Purgatory University.

But little did Waverly know; she’d be leaving town with a new piece of jewelry on her finger.

Wynonna, Aunt Gus and Uncle Curtis went down to the boardwalk for dinner while Waverly stayed behind to work on some things for college.

Suddenly, she heard You Had Me From Hello by Kenny Chesney playing outside her bedroom window. She then got up and walked over to the window and she couldn’t believe who she was seeing. She thought she was dreaming. It was Nicole holding a boombox high above her head.

Waverly quickly ran downstairs and met Nicole on the beach.

When she saw her, Nicole was on one knee in the sand with a ring box in her hand surrounded by rose petals with an added sunset in the distance.

Once face to face, Nicole grabbed Waverly’s hand and spoke.

“Waverly, I know you’ll be heading off to college soon and we’ll be apart for a while, but I would feel really content knowing you’ll still be waiting for me even after you graduate. Will you marry me?” she asked.

“Yes!” Waverly answered through tears.

Nicole then slid the ring on Waverly’s finger and the now fiancées sealed their engagement with a kiss.

" I wanted to give your sister my congratulations” he answered.

“ So, how are you?” he asked.

“ I’m alright,I’m actually seeing someone” she answered.

“ Hey babe, there you are” Rosita said as she wrapped her arm around Wynonna’s waist and kissed her on the cheek.

“Wynonna, what is it?” she asked.

“Oh, you know my baby sister is getting married” she answered.

Waverly then pulled her sister in for a hug.

A few minutes later an Instrumental version of You Had Me From Hello by Kenny Chesney began to play as Waverly and Wynonna began their walk down the aisle.

When they reached the altar Wynonna shook Nicole’s hand before giving her baby sister away.

“You look so beautiful” Nicole said as she grabbed Waverly’s hand to help her up the stairs.

Waverly and Nicole then shared their vows.

“Nicole, I didn’t expect to find love again so fast after my breakup, but you have shown me what a healthy relationship is. You are the most caring and thoughtful person I have ever met and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you”

“Waverly, you were a literal angel I never saw coming into my life, but I am forever grateful that you did. I can’t wait to see where life as wives takes us”

Waverly and Nicole then placed their rings on each other's fingers and sealed their marriage with their first kiss as wives.
