Work Text:

"Wait, hyung, I don’t even like soft-boiled eggs..."

"They’re not for you, so don’t get any ideas. Go make yourself some instant noodles."

"But you don’t like them either, do you?"

"Oh, I get it now... a love breakfast, huh?"

That was Taedong and Hyuk, the 'Tom and Jerry' brothers. Their usual bickering filling the room just as Jehyun started to wake up. He was wrapped in a warm blanket, lying next to a large body pillow. His pillow felt extra soft today. Reaching for his plushie, Moon Nyangi, like he always did in the mornings, he realized something strange...

Where was it?

Wait a second, this isn’t my bed. Pikachu... this is Taedong-hyung’s room, isn’t it?!

His head was still spinning as he tried to piece together what had happened.

Jehyun was still half-asleep and didn’t immediately remember that last night, after recording a song for their upcoming SoundCloud release with Junghoon, they decided to watch the latest horror movie on Netflix that everyone was talking about.

When they opened the fridge, a bottle of peach soju and some snacks caught their eye. They exchanged excited glances, and before they knew it, Junghoon grabbed the soju while Jehyun grabbed the snacks, and they headed to the living room.

A pity for the actual owner of those snacks…

The movie night would’ve been uneventful if the two hadn’t passed out on the couch after just one bottle of soju and a few snacks. It didn’t take much to knock out these two “lightweights” who liked to act tough.

When Taedong found them, sound asleep with their heads resting on each other’s shoulders while the TV still blared, he could only shake his head in frustration.

“Jehyun-ah, let’s get you to bed,” Taedong murmured, gently shaking the younger boy’s arm.

“Mmm…”

Taedong sighed, realizing he wasn’t going to wake Jehyun up. But with some effort—and thanks to his gym training—he carefully lifted Jehyun and carried him to his own room. Jehyun stirred slightly but stayed in his deep sleep.

Taedong laid him gently on the bed, smoothing back his messy hair with a soft smile. Jehyun looked just like a sleeping baby, peaceful and quiet. The only sound in the room was his steady breathing.

“Sleep well, little one,” Taedong whispered, planting a soft kiss on Jehyun’s forehead before turning off the lights and leaving the room.

-

“You’re awake. Did you sleep well?” Taedong’s deep, warm voice snapped Jehyun out of his thoughts.

“Why am I here? Did you kidnap me, hyung?” Jehyun pouted playfully.

“Last night, you and that rascal Junghoon got drunk and passed out on the couch. Don’t you remember?”

Jehyun scratched his head, smiling sheepishly, pretending not to remember. In truth, he vaguely recalled someone carrying him to a room, but the rest was a blur.

“You two are such fools. If I hadn’t checked on you, who knows what might have happened in that cold living room?” Taedong scolded, but his voice was still warm and caring.

“I’m sorry…” Jehyun’s cat-like eyes drooped, pretending to feel guilty.

Worried he might have upset Jehyun, Taedong quickly sat beside him, gently ruffling his hair. His voice softened even more, becoming tender: “My little cat is starting to experiment with alcohol, huh? Next time, if you’re going to drink, let me know first so I can bring you back safely.”

Hearing the words "bring you back" reminded Jehyun of Junghoon, and he hurriedly asked, “What about Junghoon? Is he okay?”

“No need to worry. Last night, Hangyeom-hyung carried him back to his room and tucked him in,” Taedong replied, shaking his head, already used to the affectionate antics of that couple.

“I wonder if my little cat is sober yet? I made hangover soup and your favorite egg sandwich. Go wash up and come eat.”

Taedong stood up, intending to head out and tidy up the kitchen, but found himself being pulled back by a pair of small hands, causing him to lose his balance and fall onto the bed.

“Mm, no,” Jehyun, now fully awake, clung to Taedong, shutting his eyes as if pretending to sleep again.

“Jehyun-ah, let go. I need to clean up,” Taedong tried to wriggle free but to no avail.

“No way. You woke me up early, so now you have to be my body pillow!” Jehyun’s voice grew more playful as his grip tightened.

“Alright, alright, I’ll go along with it! But let go of me first. I can’t breathe, Jehyun,” Taedong pleaded, gently patting his hand.

The moment Jehyun loosened his grip, Taedong quickly flipped him around and held him tightly from behind.

“What now, little one? Still want to tease me?”

Taedong expected Jehyun to fight back as usual, but instead, the younger boy remained silent, lying still in his arms. Puzzled, Taedong loosened his hold and asked, “Jehyun, what’s wrong? Let me kn-”

Before he could finish his sentance, Taedong felt a sudden kiss on his ear, followed by Jehyun’s soft lips on his own.

Taedong’s weakness had always been his lover’s kisses. Whether on the lips or the cheek, they always made him freeze for a moment. It wasn’t that he didn’t like the closeness or the kisses, but rather, Jehyun was rarely this forward. Especially in the crowded dormitory, Jehyun would shy away, only daring to be affectionate during private moments like this.

And this time, Jehyun did just that.

While Taedong was still processing, Jehyun slipped off the bed and hurried into the bathroom. Before leaving the room, he turned back and called out, “I love you, Taedong-ah!”

A little while later, when Hyuk entered the room to grab some things, he was startled to find Taedong sitting on the bed, grinning like an idiot.

“Have you lost your mind, Taedong? Why are you sitting there smiling like a fool?”

“You wouldn’t understand…”

Taedong kept gazing at the ceiling with that goofy grin, while Hyuk quickly grabbed his things and hurried out before Taedong could “devour” him.

When Hyuk finally reached the dining room, he was greeted with yet another unwelcome sight—his beloved hyung, Jehyun, happily munching on an egg sandwich that should have been his.

Hyuk couldn’t take it anymore.

Witnessing these scenes first thing in the morning made him realize that maybe a single, steadfast bachelor like himself didn’t belong in this house full of lovebirds…
