Work Text:
Ren would be lying if he said he wasn’t surprised by Yinyue-Jun suddenly acting weird towards him since his accidental pregnancy.
The father?
It’s none other than Yinyue-Jun.
But by weird, he means this.
Yinyue-Jun: Where are you?
Yinyue-Jun: Are you getting enough rest?
Yinyue-Jun: Are you getting enough sleep?
Yinyue-Jun: Are you craving anything? Tell me. I’ll get them for you.
Yinyue-Jun: Damn it. Are you okay?
Yinyue-Jun: Can you just reply to my texts? Please? I’m worried.
Yinyue-Jun: Please?
Yinyue-Jun: Ren?
Ren stares at his phone, his brows furrowed in confusion.
He doesn’t remember Yinyue-Jun ever being this nice. At least, to him. Sure, he’s always nice to everyone else but he’s always such a dick when it comes to Ren. But as much as it’s new and interesting to see, Ren knows how to take care of himself. There’s no need for all of this so he locks his phone, shoves it into his pocket, and ignores every text that he gets from Yinyue-Jun.
Yinyue-Jun doesn’t give up, though.
When Ren stumbles upon Kafka, “Dan Heng is looking for you.”, when Ren stumbles upon Jing Yuan, “Dan Heng is looking for you.”, when Ren stumbles upon Huaiyan, “Dan Heng is looking for you.”.
Dan Heng is always looking for him.
It just makes Ren question.
Are you serious?
“Ren,” Ren hears the familiar voice calling out his name behind him.
Ren turns around.
It’s Yinyue-Jun, panting, bending his back and resting his hands on his knees, looking exhausted as if he ran all the way here. It gives Ren the impression that Yinyue-Jun looked for him everywhere.
Ren grimaces at the sight. “Were you looking for me across the universe or something? Are you that worried about me? That’s creepy.”
It’s sweet, actually. Ren feels his eyes soften, his heart soften, his body melt at the thought but he’s not going to let it show.
“Don’t act like you never did that,” Yinyue-Jun reminds Ren. He was referring to the days Ren tried to kill him before and Ren fell silent.
“Whatever. I’m busy. I have a mission,” Ren, being embarrassed that he is, changes the subject, facing his back to Yinyue-Jun, about to take his leave.
Yinyue-Jun grabs Ren’s wrist, looking at him with a stern expression. “Are you seriously going on a mission? You’re pregnant.”
Ren looks at Yinyue-Jun’s hand engulfing his wrist and he can’t help but feel the excitement due to the fact Yinyue-Jun is touching him right now but he’s not going to let it show this time, either. “Let me go. Elio said it’s fine.”
Yinyue-Jun’s grip tightens. “Don’t be ridiculous, Ren. Where is Elio? I’ll talk to him. You shouldn’t be working. I’ll even kill him if I have to.”
Ren forces to free himself, rubbing his wrist by the time he manages to do so. “Since when did you care about me?!”
Yinyue-Jun grabs Ren’s wrist once again, looking at him with that stern expression once more. “I was the one who got you like this, of course I care. And that’s my baby, too.”
Ren doesn’t think he exactly knows what to say to that.
“Please, Ren, don’t do this,” Yinyue-Jun pleads. “Let me take care of you and our baby.”
Well, then.
Now... How could anyone even possibly ever resist that?
Not Ren, for sure.
“Fine.”
Months passed by.
Within the times they spent together, Ren learned a lot about Yinyue-Jun. Maybe that’s just the alpha in him trying to take better care of an omega. Yinyue-Jun spoils Ren during his cravings and he’s rather overprotective towards him. He told Elio not to let Ren go on missions, reminded the Stellaron Hunters to always keep an eye on him, and hell, even almost did everything for him no matter how simple it was, like opening the door. Though the way Yinyue-Jun cares never fails to make him happy.
Ren, now, sits on the couch, rubbing his belly, almost feeling emotional at how big the baby has gotten. A slight grunt escapes his lips when the baby starts to kick.
“What’s wrong, Ren? Are you okay?” Yinyue-Jun asks as he approaches Ren closer, obviously panicking.
“I’m fine,” Ren tells, “It’s just the baby.”
There seems to be excitement in Yinyue-Jun’s eyes. “No way... Is he kicking right now?”
“You want to feel?”
“Yeah...”
“Come here.”
Yinyue-Jun hastens to Ren’s direction, kneeling down on the floor, resting his head on Ren’s stomach, holding Ren’s waist. “Oh.”
Ren looks at Yinyue-Jun. “You hear that?”
“Mm,” Yinyue-Jun hums as he continues to hear the baby and he has a smile on his face that it’s precious to look at. “So fierce, aren’t you?”
Yinyue-Jun stays with Ren until the day Ren gives birth. He’s also there next to him.
“I can’t... I can’t! It hurts, idiot! This is because of you and your stupid dick! Fuck! I hate alphas! It’s not fair! All of you alphas should go through this pain, too!” Ren shouts as he pulls Yinyue-Jun’s hair but Yinyue-Jun just takes it even though he’s practically hurting, too, but he seems like he’s just letting Ren do whatever he wants with him if it means that it would help.
Despite everything, it was a success.
Ren can feel tears of joy forming in his eyes though he holds it in as he cradles the baby in his arms and he notices their kid’s resemblance to Yinyue-Jun. He can’t help but remark. “He looks so much like you.”
Yinyue-Jun’s praise follows, his tone filled with admiration. “You did it, you did good.” But what sends Ren’s heart into overdrive is an unexpected, tender gesture of affection from Yinyue-Jun in between his sentences – a hug. “Thank you...”
Ren clears his throat, trying to remain his cool. “You want to hold him?”
Yinyue-Jun’s eagerness is apparent by the way he nods his head without a moment of hesitation. He carefully takes the baby from Ren’s embrace, gently cradling their kid in his arms. Ren sees Yinyue-Jun’s eyes softening. “Cute...”
Moments later, Yinyue-Jun carefully returns the baby back to Ren, the room settling into a peaceful silence.
Ren can’t help but smile as he looks at the baby. He doesn’t think he ever smiled this much before. Maybe he finally sees a little hope in life now.
Yinyue-Jun continues to be by Ren and their kid’s side.
