Chapter Text
It was morning and it seemed like a normal day. And when I say normal day, I mean that it always rains in the city and everyone has their own lives. But as I said, it seemed normal, until a certain individual woke up. For some reason his bed seemed much harder than usual and was very cold? He slowly opened his eyes. When Yakou opened his eyes fully and was more aware, he was confused.
Wait, where was he? He was sure he had laid in his bed last night, how had he ended up on the floor? And this isn't is room. Really, where was he?? He got up but suddenly hit his head against something hard.
-Ouch, what the... -he looked at what he'd hit his head on and became even more confused. What the hell had he hit? A table?? And why was he under it, sleeping? He got out from under the questionable table to take a better look.
-A piano....? -he wondered. Apparently he was in the hotel. And apparently for some reason he ended up under a piano? What the hell was going on... He was absolutely sure that he had been lying in his bed, not under a piano. He ran a hand through his hair, trying to think the situation through. -“I'm going to need a cigarette...” he thought. He knew his cigarettes were in the agency and sighed. First he will go to the bathroom...
.....
When Vivia woke up, he immediately felt that something was very different. Firstly, the pillow, despite being his favorite, he knows he doesn't have one when he goes to sleep. Secondly, he wasn't lying on the hotel floor under the piano.
He likes fluffy pillows. So waking up on a fluffy pillow makes it more harder for him to get up, to sit down, and observe better the situation. He sighed.
- I want to die...
Lazily, Vivia sat up and traced his hand on the bed sheet. He knew that he had fallen asleep yesterday, as usual, under the piano in the hotel after reading his book. It was always a comfort to sleep under the piano, or in the firplace. He feels very strange sleeping in a bed. Who would put him in one?
He took a closer look at the room and determined that he was in the submarine, possibly sitting on Chief Yakou's bed as the room had items and clothes from Yakou. He picked up the chief's lighter , looking at it with a serious and thoughtful face.
He also noticed his hands, which are normally quite pale, but today they were darker. For some reason they looked familiar, as if he had seen them somewhere before.
And another very strange thing. It was very quiet. Which was a warning to him. He was used to the presence of other beings who had left this world, even after waking up he was used to feel their presence or hear them talking. For some reason he doesn't feel anything, nor does he hear voices. He squeezed the lighter in his right hand.
Suddenly the door of the agency bursts open and someone runs in. He hears a very familiar voice, but he never thought he'd hear it like that, or see different expressions on his own face.
-Vivia!!! -screamed his own voice. Vivia voice.
Which confirmed his theory. Somehow he and his boss had swapped bodies.
The door to the room where Vivia was sitting opened quickly and Vivia's body appeared, being used by Yakou. His face was frantic with exasperation. Yakou, seeing Vivia sitting on his bed, using his body, grabbed his shoulders.
-Good morning Chief.... -despite the other's panic, Vivia smiled gently at Yakou
-Is that all you have to say?? What the hell happened to make us switch bodies? -asked Yakou frantic. He sighed, letting go of the other's shoulders when he noticed that he was shaking the other. It was quite possible that even Vivia didn't know what was going on; he shouldn't take his frustrations out on the teenager.
And Yakou was sure he'd seen strange things right after he'd come out from under the piano, but he'd tried to ignore it when he saw that they weren't normal people because they were going through walls. Does Vivia have to see that every day? How could he not have gone crazy?
Meanwhile, Vivia finally got out of bed, but as always, without much haste. He sighed immediately after getting up, the back as crooked as usual and the face tired, almost as if all the energy had been sucked out of it. Yakou found it so strange to see his own face like that, he shivered.
-Hey, at least keep my back straight. I don't want my back to hurt when we get back to our own bodies. -Yakou commented, walking towards the closet with his disheveled clothes. He couldn't be dressed in the Vivia clothes anymore, firstly they were too uncomfortable and secondly he felt cold. He didn't know how Vivia managed to wear these clothes every day.
Of course, Vivia would ignore his comment and continue with his back crooked. He didn't even make the effort to change clothes. Which was something Yakou was grateful for deep down, because he couldn't imagine his body wearing Vivia's clothes. It wasn't his style.
He would have to explain to the detectives when they arrive what was going on so that they wouldn't get confused.
After getting dressed, Yakou turned to Vivia and noticed that the latter was holding his lighter. He quickly walked over to Vivia and grabbed the lighter out of his hand.
-Don't even think about smoking, kid. -Yakou said seriously. He glanced discreetly at the pack of cigarettes on the table and sighed. He really wanted to smoke, but...
As if he knew what was going on in his boss's head. Vivia picked up the pack and put it towards Yakou, ready to give him the cigarettes.
-Here, Chief...
Yakou looks indignantly at the detective and says:
-Are you crazy? I'm not going to smoke while I'm in your body.
-Huh... Why not? -vivia asks, looking confusedly at his boss
-Do you have a death wish? -Yakou asked, and seeing Vivia open his mouth to answer, said: -Oh, forget it... You do. -Yakou sighed -I'm still not going to smoke, you're young and I don't want you to be like me. -he muttered the last part to himself.
-I don't mind, Chief. -said Vivia. Seeing that Yakou was still determined not to smoke while using his body, Vivia came up with another solution: “If you want, I can smoke for you, after all, this is your body, Chief. And as I said, I don't mind… I want to die anyway...
Vivia wanted to help his boss relax in some way. That's why he didn't mind doing it for his boss.Well, he would do anything for his boss… But somehow what he said made Yakou more upset and more serious than before.
-No it's no, okay? Come on... - said Yakou, putting his lighter and cigarettes away in a safe place and then left his room. Sighing, the detective lazily followed his boss, muttering “I want to die” and “I want to continue reading my book in the fireplace”. Yakou ignored the detective's mutterings and went to his desk that have his documents and papers, opened the drawer and took out his wallet.
-Stay in the agency for now, I'll be right back. I need to buy something, quickly. If any of your fellow detectives arrive and I'm not here, explain the situation to them, okay? Okay! -Yakou smiled and didn't even wait for Vivia's reply. He quickly left the detective agency.
Vivia then went into the fireplace, picked up one of the books that was there and continued reading where he had left off. For the first time in his life, nothing was bothering him. No ghosts, no presence near the submarine. It was a strange feeling, being in that silence. But it wasn't bad...
Later...
The door opened and Yuma appeared. Yuma saw that the chief wasn't in the agency, and sitting in his chair, as he normally did, but it was nothing out of the ordinary. He went to sit down on one of the sufas, when suddenly a voice spoke.
-Good morning, Yuma... -Yakou's voice? Yuma was confused because the voice sounded like it was coming from the fireplace. He looked up and was shocked to see his boss lying inside the fireplace, reading a book like Vivia does.
-Bo...Boss?!?!

Chapter Text
Footsteps echoed down the narrow street. The tall figure kept his hands in the pockets of his coat. His purple eyes almost seemed to glow in the dimly lit street.
“Hey....vivia....”
- Ignore Yakou, ignore...
“No one cares about us, look how they go on with their lives...as if nothing had happened.”
“...I did everything [ ] wanted, but as soon as I finished everything, I was discarded.”
“My father said that if he died I would miss him...What a joke....I died first and even he didn't respect me, he didn't even show up at the funeral”
“My friends, the people I trusted the most. They betrayed me...”
“How horrible...”
“Yes, very horrible...”
- Ignore...ignore....You're almost at the agency. -thought Yakou as he hurried along
“What do you think vivia....?”
“vivia....”,
“Hey....vivia....”,
“I... no one can see me? Did I die?” said a little girl's voice...
“Don't worry, vivia... He's the only one who can see us”
“vivia....”,
“vivia....”,
“vivia....”
Yakou almost froze when he felt angry eyes on him. The voices that never shut up. The whispers, conversations that normal people can’t hear…
“You....You are not our vivia.”
When he heard the angry voice, his body started working again. A few minutes later, the green-haired young man entered the underground passage leading to the riverbank. When he came out of the passage and saw his submarine, he sighed.
-By now, Vivia must have told the detectives... I never thought something like this would happen to me. - he thought as he shakes his hair with his hand, feeling strange as he remembered that it wasn't his body and his hair.
Feeling his stress rise, he opened the shopping bag and took something out, opened the plastic and put something like a white toothpick in his mouth.
He entered the agency and immediately saw Yuma sitting on the sofa, but he didn't see the other detectives. He didn't see his body sitting in the chair or on the sofa either.
-Wait, don't tell me that... -Suddenly he remembered that Vivia usually went to the fireplace. He looked there and Vivia was indeed lying inside the fireplace, reading a book. Yukou was so shocked to see his own body acting out Vivia's habits that he almost didn't hear Yuma calling out to him.
-Chief? -Yuma asked. He seemed quite confused by the situation but it seemed that he had believed Vivia. It's funny, it's usually Yuma who's in a strange situation.
-Yes it's me, Yuma. -He said - I don't know if it's luck or bad luck that the others aren't here…- he thought bitterly.
-And it's not just Vivia body that I possessed, apparently I....-he suddenly stopped talking when he noticed something.
-Huh...?
For a moment he seemed to see something next to Yuma. A dark figure, small and different from the others he had seen. When he saw the ghosts, he saw its human form but more transparent. What was that small and dark figure?
-Chief Yakou? -Yuma asked, confused that the yakou had stopped talking out of nowhere.
-Uh master, is it just me or is your chief...? -murmured Shinigami to Yuma. She felt a chill as she felt the chief's gaze, or gaze coming from the Anemic Vampire's body? It was strange, she'd felt it before. Could he...
Suddenly a book slammed shut. Vivia got up from the fireplace and stood beside the sofa. He glanced discreetly to where Yakou had been looking, but it was so quick that no one noticed. He looked at Yakou, drawing his attention.
-Chief... You have my forte. -he spoke calmly but his gaze was intense. Yuma got up from the sofa, surprised by the news, and approached them both.
-What? Vivia's forte? -Yuma asked, still surprised. Vivia hadn't mentioned anything about the power, so Yuma assumed it was just a body swap. Yuma still doesn't know what Viva's forte is, but it seems that the chief now possesses it...
For a moment, Yakou looked as if he wanted to say something to Viva, but stopped himself. Maybe it would be better if they talked alone. He has a lot to talk about.
-Chief?
-Yes?
Yuma pointed to the white toothpick sticking out of his mouth. Yakou had almost forgotten it was in his mouth.
-Are you... smoking? -Yuma asked. From the look on his face, he seemed to be judging his boss. Yakou waved his hand negatively, he didn't want there to be any misunderstanding.
-No! Do you think I'd do that to Vivia? - Yakou asked indignantly, and he removed the ‘toothpick’. After he removed it, Yuma and Vivia saw that it wasn't a cigarette but a lollipop. Yakou blushed.
-Don't tell anyone about this, okay? - said Yakou, still embarrassed.
Suddenly Yakou heard a low chuckle. He looked to criticize the person but was surprised to see that it was Vivia the one who was laughing. He had never seen him laugh before. It's a nice sound...
Yakou coughed, perhaps to disguise his embarrassment, or to try to disguise the way his heart pounded when he heard the vivia's melancholy laughter. Well, he doesn't know.
The most important thing now would be to try to find out what happened and how to get back to his original body. But....
-How long did you have to deal with the voices, the apparitions of ghosts, the pessimistic conversations? It's not as easy as I thought just because he's so strong and has a forte. I didn't try to see it from his perspective…- thought Yakou, while watching Yuma and Viva talk.
As if sensing Yakou's gaze, Viva looked up with a questioning expression.
-Maybe... A little longer. I'll give him some more time. -thought Yakou resolutely. Only for today, he would let Vivia feel what it was like to be normal and not have to carry the weight of the forte on his back.
- Chief...? -asked Yuma
-I'm hungry - said Yakou suddenly, changing the conversation. He walked over to his desk chair and sat down.
-So strange to see Vivia sitting in a chair. But it's also strange to see Vivia wearing Yakou's clothes, it's as if they are… -thought Yuma
-But, wait chief, shouldn't we talk about how you two get back to our bodies? -asked Yuma, confused
- I can't think without eating something first. And secondly, you need to bring the others here so we can talk things over. But since it's almost dinner time, there's no point. We'll do it tomorrow. it's your job to bring them here tomorrow ok? -said Yakou.
-Uh…….Okay chief. -said Yuma a little hesitantly. He thought his boss would be in a hurry to get everything back to normal...
-What are you waiting for, master? Let's go! -said shinigami.
-Shinigami? -whispered Yuma in surprise
-Master I have a bad feeling about this... It's like your boss can see me...
With that, Yuma left the agency without further questions while Shinigami followed him. All the while, Yakou stared at the strange dark shape that was always at Yuma's side, following him. Was it some kind of evil ghost that was cursing Yuma? Could that be why Yuma has nothing but misfortune?!
When they were completely alone, viva spoke up:
-Chief....
As if sensing what viva's question would be, Yakou interrupted him.
-Hey Viva, how about we have a slumber party? - he joked
-What...?
-This is an order from your boss. From today you'll be sleeping here in the agency! It's best to stay quiet and refrain from any behavior that might attract the attention of the Amaterasu Corporation Peacekeepers. -said Yakou, putting the lollipop back in his mouth. Just thinking about them made him want a cigarette.
-........ - Vivia sighed. It seemed that the boss's determination wasn't going to be easy to overcome, not while he was using the boss's body- I want to die...
Forcibly Viva had to change his clothes and put on pajamas. At least the boss let him sleep inside the fireplace, albeit hesitantly.
-I don't understand why you like being in these places. -said Yakou after putting on his pajamas. Luckily, he had two of his pajamas stashed away. The third pair of pajamas belonged to his dead wife, so he wasn't going to give anyone her clothes. After he was evicted from his old agency, he almost lost everything of his wife's because her family took most of her things with them. Luckily he got her glasses before they were taken...
-But you must have a reason for that. -Yakou added, turning off the lights in the room. He used the light from his cell phone to guide himself around the room and stand in front of the fireplace. - Hey Vivia....
Vivia didn't answer. But he could see the rise and fall of his chest.
-You fell asleep fast heh....? -Yakou muttered to himself. -I've always wondered if not having Forte was a curse or not... But is it luck that I dont have one? -he asked himself
Yakou crouched down and moved closer to the other man's body. His hands involuntarily grabbed a piece of the hair and began to caressed the hair.
-I think you're good just the way you are, Yakou. -A voice suddenly spoke.
Yakou froze when he heard that voice. It wasn't just any voice, it was....
He slowly looked behind him, where the voice was coming from. A small light emanated from the transparent figure. A figure of a woman... Even though it was transparent, he could recognize it immediately. Her straight hair and purple eyes, her smile, her gentle gaze... It was her.
She was right there, like a dream. But he couldn't speak, he couldn't move. He could only stare in complete shock.
-I know you can do it. -spoke his wife. - I've seen everything so far, I've always been here with you, watching your every move.... Hoping that one day, one day you'll see me.
-Perhaps it was my fault that you were in this situation. - continued the woman, feeling guilty about something she wasn't even sure of. - Maybe someone heard my wish, but it's still early...
-What...? -asked Yakou in a muffled voice, almost as if something had stolen his voice to speak.
-I withdraw my wish. -smiled his wife, but he could see the sadness and loneliness behind it. - I know how much you care about them, your detectives. Including him. -she said, looking at the sleeping Vivia.
-Please continue to look after them....And above all, look after yourself Yakou...
As she finished speaking, the light gradually disappeared. Including the transparency, becoming more and more invisible. Panicked, Yakou stood up and stretched out his hand towards her, but it went right through her.
-See you one day, my dear detective....
-N...N...No.....!!
His eyes felt heavy and he fell to the ground. Unconscious.
-Thank you for fulfilling this selfish wish. Whoever you are... -she said to no one. To someone.
The woman smiles and disappears into the shadows.
The next day.
Yakou opened his eyes. Bewildered, he noticed the body of Vivia for some reason lying on the ground in front of him.
-But hadn't he slept inside the fireplace...? -was the first question that popped into his still-sleeping mind.
-But wait, wasn't I the one Vivia body?! -he shouted in surprise as he connected the doubts in his head. As he got up, he hit his head on the fireplace.
Uh...Deja vu.
He walks more carefully out of the fireplace this time, and tries to wake up Vivia.
-Hey, Vivia...!
After several minutes of shaking Vivia, he finally opens his eyes.
-I'm back in my own body, you're back in yours. - explains Yakou, helping vivia to its feet when he saw that was too lazy to move.
-I don't know what happened, but something made us go back to our original bodies.... -said Yakou thoughtfully. Trying to remember what happened yesterday.
Suddenly his eyes widen as he remembers seeing his wife's ghost, talking to her before falling unconscious.
-Chief...?
-It's nothing. -Yakou smiled. He felt a little better now. He shook the Vivia’s hair affectionately.
-I have a lot to talk with you about in your forte, but that's for another day. -said Yakou smiling more
-Ok... -said viva with a small smile.
The end….
