The ever-pressing weight of life and being alive is... a lot. Zuko's life is falling around him, and he's not really sure how to continue.
Sokka's life is debatably great. His friend just fell in love with his other friend, he got an A+ on his calculus final, and his favourite bakery just started serving drinks.

Or, Zuko needs a reason to keep going. Sokka takes one look at this wet flop of a cat and decides that he needs friends.
