Chapter 1: Crash

Chapter Text

The day was bright, sunny and warm. A usual change from the dark, damp and depressing view the city usual is. It was silent, apart from the sounds of happy children and adults roaming the streets with shopping filled hands. Discussing about what location they should visit next. Not only are the occupants of Amity Park happy for this weather change, so is a familiar teenage boy.

A fine ray of sun gloried down upon fair-skin, as a light breeze sifted through raven locks. A sudden shadow came across shut eyes. Eyebrows furrowed and eyelids shifted open, revealing ice tones underneath.

"What are you doing?" a casual voice asked. Danny looked up, taking in the familiar silhouette shape of one of his best friends above him. The goth raised a slender eyebrow, waiting for the half-deceased boy below her to respond. A huff left her lavender lips as she raised a hand, finger and thumb met as she let a click radiate from her hand.

"What?" Danny spluttered. The poor boy trying to ignore the rush of warmth currently occupying his cheeks. He blinked, thoughts racking his brain as he tried to remember what the dark-dressed female in front of him said.

"What are you doing?" Sam repeated, arms adorned with jewellery clattering as her hands met her hips.

"Oh!" His body quickly moves into a sitting position.

"I was just basking in the temporary sun that we have. You know how rare this is." Danny breathed, his arms reaching behind his head as he let out a stretch. A small grunt left his lips as he felt his limbs pop back into place, giving his body some temporary relief. The sound of shuffling reached his ears as Sam sat next to him on the ground.

"You do need a bit of sun, as cool as your ghost form is. I would like to see you look a little bit less like Casper the friendly ghost when you are human." The vegetarian joked, a smile gracing her lavender-painted lips.

"How are you feeling about the trip?" She added, her eyes taking in the male's features, watching as they contorted a little at the thought of what was to come.

"I'm trying my best not to think about it. It's certainly not going to end well," Danny sighed. His chin resting upon the palm of his hand. His enhanced hearing picking up the frequent bangs of the front door open and closing. The goth sighed, trying not to think too badly herself.

"We should probably get inside, it's almost time." The punk girl stood up, wiping the fresh grass from her favourite skirt. As a platform ridden foot took a step forward, she paused. She turned, seeing the boy still sat in place, not moving an inch. A sigh left her, before she grabbed the hidden ghost by his elbow, swiftly pulling him up onto his feet, a soft groan leaving him.

"Come on."

Upon entrance into his home, his eyes scanning the room, taking in that pretty much his entire class was there. This was it. His nightmare is finally coming true. He let out a deep breathe.

"Chill out man, I'm sure everything will turn out okay," Tuckers voice entered the worried boy's ear. Resulting in a swift glare towards the technical geek.

"Famous last words," grumbled Danny, tipping forward lightly as Tucker slapped a hand on his back. As Tucker's mouth opened, preparing to say another tease, he was swiftly interrupted by a booming voice, causing the occupants of the room to turn towards Mr Lancer.

After a brief intermission, everyone trying to remember the instructions they were given. Everyone was soon piled into the basement of a ghost hunters heaven. At the sight of the new Spector Speeder Bus, Danny's anxiety ten-folded. His chest felt tight as he rapidly looked around the room, looking for an excuse to get out of this soon to be mess. A hand softly placed itself on his shoulder, causing him to jump.

"Danny, it will be okay. If anything happens, we still have your parents' weapons to fall back on. Especially since we are the only ones who actually know how to use the damn things." Sam whispered to Danny, her hot breathe fanning his ear as the words started to calm the skittish boy down.

"Everyone aboard!" Mr Fenton's voice bounced from the metal walls of the room. The sound of heavy footsteps and happy chatter soon picked up as people gathered on to the bus. A shove soon followed Danny's shoulder as he was pushed aside. Danny let out a heavy sigh, Sam's hand on his shoulder stopping him from launching at the blonde brute that walked onto the bus with laughter.

The infamous trio were the last to enter the bus and the last to take a seat. The anxious raven stared out the window of the speeder, his father's voice becoming nothing but an empty muffle bouncing around his ear canal.

The sudden sound of silence pulled him out of his deep thoughts. He frowned, turning to look at the goth sitting next to him. His lips parting to ask a question, before he was interrupted by the sound and shakes of the speeder starting up. His hands quickly found grip into the arm rests.

Small breathes left his parted lips as the speeder lurched forward towards the portal.

"Sam, I can't do this." Danny spouted quickly.

"It's okay Danny, breathe." Sam whispered, placing her hand on his arm. The familiar touch spread warmth throughout his skin. He nodded, opting to give slow exhales as he began to sink into the seat.

Sam shut her eyes as they entered through the portal. She never liked the cold feeling that washed over her. The feeling of a cold bucket of ice water being poured over her is something she could never get used to. Once she got used to the icy feeling that pierced her, she let out the gasp she had been withholding. But she quickly noticed the silence next to her. Apart from the constant little beeps from Tucker's PDA. Her violet eyes looked over to the raven haired male next to her.

Danny felt calm and very relaxed. He felt at home as he stared out at the infinite swirly green abyss. Maybe this field trip wasn't so bad. His gaze followed the doors that they travelled past, familiar islands catching his eye. The urge to get out of the speeder and fly was very strong, an urge he had to push down into his gut. He almost forgot how powerful he felt being in the Ghost Zone. It was a feeling he didn't want to let go. Although, something felt a little off.

Whilst the speeder drifted through the Ghost Zone. Tucker kept his head tucked away in his PDA, scanning the area. He couldn't bare listen to the Fenton's talk about the Ghost Zone. Incorrect facts and stories spilling from their lips. They haven't even been in the Ghost Zone before. Tucker shook his head, pushing his glasses up his nose as he glared down at his technical device.

His dark eyebrows furrowed as a small dot appeared on the screen. He pulled his eyes up, scanning around the speeder as he looked out as many windows as he could see in his position. Something isn't right. The dot suddenly picked up speed, coming closer and closer. The dot soon split into two, the second dot quicker than the first. His eyes widened.

"Brace!" Tucker and Danny's voice bellowed throughout the speeder in unison, as both leaned back in a hurry.

"What are you two do- "Mr Lancer's voice suddenly cut off as something hit the speeder. The bang echoed throughout the shaking vessel as people began to scream. Another bang hit, causing the speeder to lurch forward, plummeting towards a small floating island.

"Jack, I can't slow us down!" Mrs Fenton yelled, desperately hitting buttons and pulling the steering towards her. "We are going to crash!"

Sam gasped, realising there wasn't much they could do to get out of this mess. She soon felt two pairs of arms wrap around her, pulling her.

Mr Fenton looked out the wide windscreen, is eyes wide as he saw the island rushing towards them.

"Dad, sit down!" screeched Jazz.

"Brace!" He screeched, quickly sitting down next to his wife.

The bang sent ripples through the Ghost Zone; nearby doors disturbed as the last thing the class saw was black.

Chapter 2: Repercussions

Chapter Text

Ice filled blue eyes shot open, muffled speaking reached the ears of the raven haired boy, that shot up into a sitting position with a gasp. A hand gripped his shoulder, shaking him back into the present, the muffled noise very quickly becoming clear.

"Danny! Be careful!" Jazz exclaimed. "Don't move too much, your arm is broken." The elder sibling quickly finished tying off the make-shift bandage around Danny's right arm. The med-kit was very bare, most of its contents clearly already been used on everyone else. A light pain thudded through his head, his hand raising, meeting a bandage over a small gash on his forehead.

"It's fine, it will be healed in the next hour or so." Danny grunted, adjusting his arm to lay across his lap, small slices of pain shooting up the limb to his shoulder. Jazz huffed, shaking her head.

'This boy.' Jazz thought, putting away whatever is left over of the med-kit, before moving to the front of the wreckage.

Danny scanned around, looking at the scene in front of him. The Spector Speeder Bus - or what was left of it - that Danny was currently sitting in, had split from the front part. He heard voices from outside of the wreckage, voices that sounded a mix of confusion, anger and fear. His eyes locked onto Jazz and Dash helping Kwan move out of the wreckage, it's clear the crash broke jocks leg at least. Danny pushed himself up from the speeders floor, climbing out of the wreckage and batting the small amount of smoke gathered away from his vision.

He was first greeted by small amounts of Bus parts scattered across the floor, Paulina and Star were rummaging through their backpacks, seemingly like they are trying to find something.

"Come on Star! I can't let the ghost boy see me covered in dirt and scratches!" Paulina cried out, trying to find make-up and wipes. Star rolled her eyes before sitting back, realising that they weren't going to find anything of use.

"Paulina, we have bigger things to worry about right now." She sighed, shaking her head.

"But what if the ghost boy comes to rescue me!"

Valerie sat near the two popular students, deep in thought whilst counting out the supply packs around her. Danny already knew she was trying to form a plan in her head. Other students were sat around, looking for supplies through the left over rubble.

Danny's head turned to his left. Tucker was knelt by what was left of the Bus console, his PDA plugged into the mess. Sam was sat next to him, rummaging through the old armoury box, trying to at least piece together some sort of weapon, her bag was open at her side, a Fenton thermos, lipstick blaster and spectre deflector hanging out. Danny quickly walked towards them, his hand lightly touching Sam's shoulder to gain her attention. Her head snapped around in shock, she gasped as she quickly pulled the taller boy into a hug. His eyes locking onto the small bandage on her cheek as she pulled him in.

"Thank Clockwork you are alright, I was so worried!" Sam whispered into his ear, not wanting the others to know that she can be sentimental, if the time calls for it. Sam pulled back, gazing into his blue iris. As he opened his mouth to reply, someone else already beat him to it.

"Oh for the love of Pride and Prejudice, what do you mean you have never been to the Ghost Zone before!?" Mr Lancers voice bellowed across the eerie space. Danny's eyes shot over to the scene that just erupted. Mr Lancer looked absolutely furious, his voice directed at Mr and Mrs Fenton.

"Please Mr Lancer, let's discuss this in a calm matter-" Maddie started, her voice calm and collected as she raised her palms in front of her. She was trying to defuse the situation, but was quickly interrupted by Mr Lancers clamour.

"Calm? Calm!? We have crashed in the middle of the Ghost Zone!"

"I understand that, but if you could plea-"

"Please what? I don't want a useless excuse coming from either of you two. We currently have a full class of students, some of which are injured. We have no idea on the number of supplies we have or how long some of these students can go without professional medical attention. We have barely any of the so called 'bus' left, to even REMOTELY plan an escape here. So please, Mr and Mrs Fenton, tell me. What are you planning to do about this?" Mr Lancer burst out, his face bright red with anger as he panted. Maddie and Jack stood staring in shock. Maddie's mouth moved yet no words came out, shocked by the outburst and also to the realisation she truly did not know what to do here.

Danny looked on, his hands slowly pulling back from Sam as he furrowed his brows. His parents shouldn't have lied to the principle and now here comes the repercussions.

"We have a map of the Ghost Zone." Danny's head spun around to the sound of Tuckers voice, who stood up from the console, unplugging his PDA. "I managed to get into what was left of the console, extracting the map and any protocols the bus may have had."

"But how long would it take for us to reach the portal? We only have enough supplies here for a day or two tops." Valerie spoke up, her arms crossing as she stared at the tech-welding boy. She was right. It was a long way back to the portal, but with the addition of helpless and injured classmates, it wasn't going to be easy or quick at all.

Danny's eyes scanned the surroundings, trying to make out anything familiar. He tapped into his power, feeling a light thrum run through his core. They were near a lair. If the Bus being shot down was any sign of it, he knew exactly who's lair they were close to.

"Hey Tuck, you don't happen to have lairs on that thing do you?" Danny asked carefully, looking over at him.

"Yeah, I do, why?" Tucker looked down at his PDA, quickly scanning their surroundings. His eyes widen. "Oh." He stared at the large green spot on the corner of his screen. Skulker's lair.

"Shouldn't Dorathea or Pandora be close to here?" Danny asked in a hushed voice, even though he's well aware of the confused glares burning into his spine.

"Daniel is there something you would like to discuss with us?" Mr Lancer asked whilst crossing his arms. Danny froze. How was he supposed to guide them out of the Ghost Zone without revealing anything? He winced, time to do what he does best. Lie.

"I have been in the Ghost Zone before." Danny started, turning to look at the adults. A gasp came from his parents.

"Danny, what are-" Jack started, his eyebrows furrowing into a scowl, but Danny quickly interrupted him.

"No time to explain. Me, Tucker and Sam came in once in the Speeder, we are dumb curious kids, and you left the Speeder out, what did you expect?" Danny lied with the roll of his eyes before quickly turning serious. "Tucker can see lairs on his PDA that belongs to certain ghosts. We are near a ghosts lair that is not particularly friendly. So what I am very heavily suggesting is for us to move quickly and quietly away from here and towards a friendly ghosts lair."

"Danny there are no friendly ghosts! How much time have you spent in here?" Maddie asked, her eyes narrowing as she stared her son down. How did she not know of this before?

"Mom I'm not explaining this right now. All I am asking is for you to trust me, Sam and Tucker right now." The raven haired boy begged. He was met with silence. Everyone's eyes were on him. "Please."

"I suppose this seems to give us a better chance, rather then us sitting here and doing nothing near a dangerous ghost." Mr Lancer sighed, rubbing the hair on his chin. "We will follow your lead Danny, unless anyone else here has a better idea?"

The older man was met with silence, everyone was either too exhausted or unwilling to confront and argue. He clapped his hands together.

"Right, everyone pack up whatever left over supplies we can find, we will move out as soon as possible!" He ordered, watching everyone quickly move to place left over supplies in backpacks. Danny let out a breathe he wasn't aware he was holding, he didn't expect for this to work, or for Mr Lancer to be so willing.

"You did great." Sam nudged him, a small smile gracing her lips as she leaned down to pack away her backpack. Danny smiled back as he looked around, spotting his own backpack lying a few feet away.

"Let's just hope we move out of here quick enough before Skulker realises where we have landed." Tucker mumbled, quickly packing away whatever electronics survived the crash. Danny quickly grabbed his backpack, wincing as he slung his broken arm through the strap.

"Everyone, form up once you are ready!" Mr Lancer ordered, watching everyone scramble together. Danny looked over at his parents, a bit afraid of what may leave their lips as he walked past. But nothing came, faces blank and their eyes unreadable.

Everyone formed up, the infamous trio in the front, with Valerie, Jazz and Mr Lancer behind. The rest of the class were behind, Kwan was being supported up by Dash, whilst Star flapped over him. His parents hung behind the class to make sure everyone is together and safe. Danny's voice rang through out the crowd as they began to walk.

"Stay together. If you find yourself lost, you will stay lost forever."
