The two teens held hands approaching the Torres' luxurious 3-story main home; they released their hold on one another within
view of the house; they ducked behind a large shrub a few hundred paces from the front door and engaged in the type of long,
languorous kiss - the kind that two lovers share after a 'bout' of very satisfying sex. They exchange whispered endearments before
parting; they only made it a few steps before - helpless to resist they started kissing again...THEN:

" ¡¡CALLIOPE...DIOS MIO !!"

|||||
"PAPI; MAMI - this I can never forgive!" She waved a hand at Ari's parents who sat fuming on one of the two sofas in the Torres
family salon.

"You can never forgive!" Carlos Torres thundered! Turning to his wife Lucia he hooted "¡¡SHE can never forgive US! ¿Do you hear these-
estupideces these -stupidities?!!"

Arizona spoke up: "Callie isn't stupid, with all due respect Sir! Neither of us can fathom how you can think this way in 2012!"

Daniel Robbins: You keep quiet, young lady - show some RESPECT to your elders! Mr. Torres, please accept our apologies.

Barbara Robbins: Your father is right Arizona. You apologize to the Torres' and then not another word!

Arizona snorted, side-eyeing her girlfriend. "She told me how closed and narrow your minds are but I refused to believe it;
it's 2012, right? No one could possibly still think this way - RIGHT? She was so pissed at me; stayed pissed for a week-"

Daniel growled, "Your Mother told you to SHUT YOUR MOUTH!, Arizona Robbins!"

Lucia Torres: Everyone should calm down; girls excuse us for a few minutes, please? Calliope - bring some iced tea, Mama.
Callie and Ari stem and stew briefly before they stomp out and into the kitchen. "Now...our daughters believe that they love one
another romantically which we do not agree with; it seems to me that the more we 'push against' them, the more we risk losing
them permanently when they turn 18 later this year."

'Are you suggesting that we stand aside and say nothing while they continue this disgusting and immoral behaviour - that we
abdicate our parental responsibilities? No. No. No!" says Dan. "No way!"

Barbara, hesitantly says "Maybe...DAN...maybe we should consider it"-

"I said NO."

Having cooled down somewhat, Carlos steps in with "My wife has a point; we won't have any influence over them once they are
18. I assure you that I share your concerns about the immorality and wrongness of our children's position, however...I am not
willing to lose Calliope before she can come to her own realization. We cannot speak for how you address Arizona; for our part
we will wait."

The Robbins couple whisper among themselves - at times HEATEDLY - at last Dan says "Alright. We just pray that they come to
their senses eventually."

intend to be together 'come what may'.

The second Bobby Sullivan stepped into their little hideaway he was 'all over' his girlfriend Andy Herrera plastering their
lips together, while his hands roam freely over her body. "Wait; WAIT...Bobby! I think Papi saw us, I think I saw him drive past-
BOBBY, STOP!"

"OK - DAMN!" Robert backs off, somewhat miffed. "Sorry; Sorry!" Andy hastens to try to placate him. "I'm just...so nervous now;
you know that he wants me to be with Ryan. Baby, I'm all nerves: c'mon don't be mad." Her first attempt to embrace him he rejects;
her persistence wins the day though and he finally relents. "Tu sabes que te quiero; solo tu " she whispers into his tee
shirt. "I love you and only you; I don't care what my Papi wants. He can't run my life forever - OH; Mami's calling...Mami..¿QUE DICE? ...OK...
OK, Mami. OK, 'bye."

Robert's cocked eyebrow prompts her to remark "According to Mami my Papi demands our presence at dinner."

"And he's bound and determined for you an' Tanner to be together WHY exactly - race?"

Thinking it over briefly, Andy replies "I honestly don't think so. I've never heard say or seen him do anything remotely racist:
Ry's lived next door to us since we were six, I guess...if you're asking if it's because Ryan's WHITE I doubt it. SERIOUSLY doubt
it. He sees Tanner as safe, I'd guess."

"Hm. We have some time before it's time to meet your parents. Wanna lie down?"

"Malo you're BAD!" She slaps playfully at his forearm allowing him to lead her to their double bed...

//
"Come in, Children, come in: pasen ...Herrera - our guests are here!"

"Welcome, Daughter...Robert." They shook hands and Pruitt and Andrea kissed. "Sit; sit." Andy helped her Mom bring in several
platters of food; Pruitt brought in the refreshments. As they sat down to eat Elena warned "FIRST we eat, then we discuss the...
issues. I want a peaceful family dinner. Mi Amor." (this last part was directed to her husband).

After they'd finished and were in the parlor Pruitt got right down to business: "Tell us about your family, Robert."

Robert swallowed, and blinked a few times; Andrea tightened her grip on his hands - clasped in both of hers. He smiled tightly,
and bravely carried on: "M-My parents...died 18 months ago. A pline - I meant a PLANE crash. They are dead."

Elena hums "Oh, Roberto...we're so sorry. We didn't know."

Pruitt adds "Apologies, Roberto. You are on your own?"

"I live at the home of Meine Mutter...mi Mama - my Mama who was German."

Andy interrupts: "Baby; you told me that your Grandfather is part of Germany's far-right and your Dad was Black."

Robert nodded. "Yeah. She obviously rejected my Opa's racism and politics; after they were gone I couldn't be around him. He never
accepted my Dad due to his color why would he accept ME? It's why I accepted the Ripley's offer to move to their home."

"And...And what are your intentions with my daughter?" Andrea broke in to say "We'll do whatever we have to to be together."
She turned to stare lovingly at Robert, and both of her parents took note. Reluctantly breaking eye contact with Robert Andy
told them "Mami...I love him. Once I'm 18 neither of you can stop me.Tarde o temprano - estare con el "

Tearing up, Elena shakes her head vigorously, extending her hands to both Andrea and Bobby. "Yes. Alright. Pruitt? Pruitt?!"
He clears his throat and says "Si." The four share handshakes and kisses.

//
The next day - when Robert drops her off at school Andy kisses him a few times before dropping a bomb: "Baby; I'm gonna speak
to - to Ryan after school. On the way home."

Robert visibly tensed, then mutters "Yeah. 'K. You should hurry," and shifts into 'drive.

"Papa; don't be like that"- but he stares directly ahead. "Bobby." No response. With a sigh, she slides out of his BMW coupe. As
pulls away Andy watches long after she can no longer see him, then mounts the steps to Lake Washington High.

During lunch, she asks Tanner for a lift home which he agrees to SO EAGERLY that she instantly regrets the ask...at 430 they walk
to the student parking lot; as she's sliding into the passenger seat She manages not to flinch away from his hand in the small of
her his back...Andy uses the time on the drive home to explain to him that her heart belongs to another and that she's sorry that
"I can't give you what you want, RY. If I could I'd make it different. We're good?"

"Sure, Ands."

In her room later, she texts her boyfriend:

ands: hey. tanner's cool. come by?

MASON BISHOP 16

ANDREA DELUCA 17

CARINA DELUCA 18

LUCIA DELUCA 37

VINCENZO DELUCA 43

/
As Maya Bishop slouched past her brother Mason's bedroom he called "Hey, Mai."

"Hey, Stinker. What's up?"

"I heard 'em talking earlier; somehow some way Mom found out about you and your girl; Lane kinda suspects but he's too
chickenshit to approach her Dad about it. He'll probably do SOMETHIN', though: he'll make a 'move'...against YOU."

Blanching, Maya whispers "Y-You...don't mean..."

"Yeah."

Hurriedly, Maya blurted "I...I have to see Car...right away. Thanks, Mas." She kissed his cheek and forehead and left.

//
Following a round of feverish kissing, Carina pulls away long enough to announce " I am going to ask la mia famiglia - my parents
if you can use the guest house."

Horrified, Maya says "NO, Car - no way! I'm not risking the delicate balance between you and your folks...NO."

"It is done, Maya. I have spoken to them and they want to speak to us tonight."

//

"La perderemo " insists Lucia. [we will lose her].

Vincenzo counters with "E colpa sua ." [it is her fault]

Lucia: Lei è nostra FILIGIA, Vincenzo! ! [she is our daughter]

Vincenzo: Lo SO. Può agire correttamente e risolvere tutto . [she can act correctly and solve it all].

"I...I cannot BELIEVE YOU!" Lucia whines. "We are scientists and medical professionals and because of our intellect are
aware that neither Carina nor any other homo sapien has control of her sexual orientation
"

Doing his best to tamp down his growing frustration, Vincenzo replies "Naturalmente so che intellettualmente ...the love that
a parent has for a child flies in the face of intellect." [of course, I know that intellectually].

Lucia [contritely]: Mia cara [My Love]. For my part, I refuse to lose her over this. PLEASE, VICO, relent."

//
That evening the elder DeLucas welcomed their daughter and her girlfriend into the living room of their home. In deference to Maya
Vicenzo announced that all discussions will be in ENGLISH. "Filigia - I apologize; it is habit! - Daughter, your Mamma and I have come
to decide that we cannot stand in your way regarding your relationship. We have seen that the two of you are...supremely determined
to be together."

Both young women are stunned. "She can live in our guest house?" Carina dares to inquire.

Lucia: "Yes. One stipulation, Carina: no intimate relations on property; if you violate this rule BOTH of you are evicted."

"Yes, Mamma. Yes, Papa." She gently elbows her girlfriend who quickly follows her lead: "Yes, Drs. DeLuca. I understand."

Vincenzo says "As I understand it, as you are over the age of 18 years your Papàs cannot prevent you from occupying our guest
home. Transfer your belongings at your convenience."
