Chapter Text

It was October, Louise's favorite month, she got to do crazy costumes and this year she had a plan, she would be a final girl for Halloween, she had the outfit planned and the make up bought, she was counting down the days, she was excited for the sugar rush her and her siblings would have

She collects her stuff once the bell rings and rushes to lunch, Tina was now in high school but gene was still there, she was headed straight for lunch when she saw Rudy, who seemed upset, she changes course and heads over to Rudy "hey Rudes"

Rudy jumped slightly "hey Louise" he wipes his face quickly and looks at her "I'll meet you guys at the table soon"

Louise had a bad feeling "what happened?"

Rudy seemed hesitant "it's nothing lo-" he was going to lie, pretend to be okay but the look Louise gave him kind of scared him, "I asked Chloe if she wanted to do the costume contest in the pair category, and she said yes but, today she said she changed her mind"

Louise sighs "what did I say about Chloe?"

Rudy shifted his weight between his feet "I know what you told me and I believe you, but she's just so sweet to me, she doesn't treat me like most kids do" 

Louise wanted to be mad, but was struggling to, kids treating Rudy like a normal kid was rare "Okay okay, I get it, what was the costume idea?"

"An angel and a demon, but now I won't be able to do it" he sounded disappointed and sad

Louise wasn't going to do the costume contest, mocking frond 2 years in a row didn't sound fun, but, Rudy was sad, she crosses her arms "I'll be the demon"

Rudy looks at her shocked "really?"

Louise kept her arms crossed "yeah, can I add my own touches though?"

Rudy nods fast "yes- of course, thank you so much Louise, you're an amazing friend-" he took a puff from his inhaler "-this means so much to me"

Louise put on an annoyed face "it's no problem Rudy, don't suffocate" 

Rudy put his inhaler away "I won't, let's go get lunch" he was happier

Louise went upstairs right away, said she was busy, she needed to get her costume ready, it wasn't too complicated, she had to go for simple due to the contest being in a few days, she got started on the sketch, she decided to add rudy next to her, it was a doodle she'd keep, forever

She got a headband, and foam she had, she started on the horn shape, she had a red shirt and black pants that works for the outfit

She finished the horns and tail, used cloth to cover everything after connecting the foam to the headband, she left her room for a snack

Linda looks at her "finally out of your room little lady"

Louise looks at her mom "Yeah, I finished a last minute costume"

"Did you change your mind on who you'll be?" Linda seemed confused

Louise grabs a snack from the fridge "no, Rudy was going to do the duo category in the costume contest, and the person he originally was going to work with changed her mind last minute, so I stepped in" 

Linda smiles "You're a good friend"

Louise opens the snack "I'm going to be a demon, he's going to be an angel"

Linda smiles "That's cute, is there anyway I can help?"

"No, I got it but thanks for offering help" Louise sits down at the table

Rudy got his costume from a store and his mom made a few alterations, Gene found out Louise was doing the costume contest with Rudy and in classic sibling fashion teased her, she packed her costume in her bag, and time went fast, it was after school

Louise got changed in the bathroom then met Rudy outside "ready Rudy?"

Rudy was smiling "Yeah, let's go"

Louise followed him to the auditorium "your angel costume is good"

Rudy looks at her "your demon costume is good, especially for a last minute costume, where did you get the horns and tails?"

Louise messes with her bunny hat strings, "I made them, they're just foam, glue, and fabric" 

"Cool" Rudy had a robe on and a halo 

"You're costume is also good" Louise opens the gym doors for the contestants she looks for some place to sit and sees 2 seats

They waited then finally they got called onto stage, they walked onto the stage, Louise ignored the butterflies, because demon and angel could be mistaken for a couples costume, but they were PLATONIC and an angel and a demon could totally be platonic, they pose a little, then walk off stage

They sadly didn't win, Jessica and Benj won because their costumes was better quality, but it was still fun, other than the butterflies that never disappeared

Chapter Text

Huxley high had a costume contest as well, and Louise had done a horror movie inspired costume in freshman year but in sophomore year she has no plans yet, until rudy approached her before lunch

Louise closes her locker and looks at rudy "hey" she smiles, she had butterflies, rudy was slightly taller than her which didn't help the butterflies 

Rudy looks at her "what if we did our 5th grade costumes but better?"

Louise grins "Yes, of course, that would be amazing"

They talked and they agreed to not just do an angel and a demon costume but to do Crowley and aziraphale, they managed to get everything needed and some stuff was improvised but the outfits worked, they wore them to school that day, Gene as usual teased Louise about their costumes being 2 gay creatures from heaven and hell who y'know kissed

They won, it was exciting and fun, gene decided to let them walk together without him being around, they decided to slowly walk to the restaurant and on the way rudy held Louise's hand 

Louise looks at rudy, she hopes the blush that was starting to appear wasn't noticeable 

Rudy looks at her "you look good by the way" 

"Thanks" Louise felt so nervous, the hand holding, that had to be a more than friends thing, even best friends thing, she wanted to look away but couldn't, his eyes were so, beautiful

She quickly looks around, there were a few people around, no one was staring at them, and she didn't mind the hand holding

She continues to walk with his hand in hers, in their crowley and aziraphale costumes
