Chapter Text
Warm. And soft.
Yoshiko opened her eyes.
Ah. Riko was holding her against her chest. Again.
While it was not uncommon for Riko to snuggle in this way, she had a habit of holding a bit too tightly after getting drunk.
Yoshiko smiled as she recalled Riko’s antics. On their walk home, she had requested Yoshiko summon her wings, despite being in public. Upon arriving, Riko suggested they use Nozomi’s body swapping wand, which Yoshiko refused as she wasn’t sure how it would be affected by Riko’s drunkenness. Failing to get her way, Riko demanded Yoshiko sing a duet with her. Then Envy had joined in. And despite claiming they would sing until daybreak, Riko had passed out about an hour later, leaving Yoshiko to carry her to bed.
And now it was morning. Probably. Yoshiko couldn’t see her clock and her room-darkening drapes disallowed her from determining the angle of the sun outside.
Well, whatever time it was, Yoshiko was feeling a bit peckish for breakfast. And Riko probably needed water.
Gently, Yoshiko began to push herself away from her girlfriend.
“Yo... sha~n…” Riko pulled Yoshiko back.
Fine.
Yoshiko teleported.
From the middle of her room, she turned to admire her girlfriend continuing to snuggle with the decoy she left behind. It was a cute scene, but a shame it would only last a few seconds. Riko let out an incoherent, but obviously disappointed murmur as the decoy dissipated.
Yoshiko rolled her eyes and blinked over to the kitchen. She grabbed a bottle of water from the counter and teleported back to the bedroom.
“Yo~ccha~~n~~~…” Riko’s voice was like a lilting lullaby as she wrapped her arms around Yoshiko from behind. Apparently, she had gotten up. “Come ba~ck to be~d, Yo~chan~~.” But hadn’t wanted to.
“Good morning, Riri.” Yoshiko greeted.
“Hee… G’mornin’ Yocchan…”
“Did you sleep alright?”
“Mmm…”
“How’s the hangover?”
Riko’s hum soured.
Yoshiko spun the cap off her water. “Here.”
“Than’s”
“Want another?” Yoshiko asked after a moment.
“Uh uh.” Riko tossed the empty bottle aside. “I wan’ Yocchan t’ come back to bed wi’h me.”
“We can’t sleep all day, you know.”
“Mmph…”
Yoshiko felt Riko’s pout against her cheek and chuckled.
“Mmm… come back t’ bed!” Riko started pulling with surprising strength for a half-awake, hungover music demon. “Yocchan!” Her volume started to increase.
“Maybe we can take a nap later.” Yoshiko offered. “But first I want to make us a nice…”
“Nooo…” Riko interrupted. “Be~d…”
“Riri…”
“<COMEBACKTOBEDYOCCHAN!>” A discordant deluge of demonic tongues filled the room.
Yoshiko turned to stare at her girlfriend.
Golden eyes burned like brimstone. Curved horns sprouted from her head. Ancient music runes scrawled across her skin. Batlike wings pulsed with a hellish aura. And her tail whipped wildly.
“peRHaps ʇ∀ǝ woOd be Best iF EwW ǝɹƎʍ 2 acQuiesCe sakurauCHi-samA’s reqUest?” A strangely unsure voice tapped at the edge of Yoshiko’s mind.
Yoshiko laughed. “Seriously, Envy, how can you be afraid of Riri when she’s this adorable?”
Something like the sound of a shredder struggling with wet paper slipped from under the bed.
“Oh come on, Mr. Gnashtooth, you’re supposed to feed on fears, not be the one afraid.” She shook her head, then glanced toward the closet where Mrs. Pointyhorn was probably cowering. “What am I gonna do with all of you? How about you, Phobetor?”
“I am fine, Master.” Her familiar’s voice emanated out of the æther.
“That’s one I guess.” Yoshiko stepped over to Riko. “Now, about Riri…” She placed a hand on her shoulder.
Immediately, every demonic feature disappeared from Riko, and she collapsed against Yoshiko. The fallen angel guided her girlfriend back to their bed and lay down next to her. Riko wrapped her arms around Yoshiko and pulled her tight against her chest.
Yoshiko sighed. Perhaps another hour or so was alright.
She closed her eyes.
At least it was warm. And soft.
