Chapter Text
A small whine escaped from the little lump of dirty blanket as a small pup’s head popped out. She didn’t know how long she was asleep for since there was no window in her cell and the kennel always had the lights on all day. She was in the corner of the small cell, the other hounds that lived there was adopted the other day after the imp couple that expressed mild interest in her changed their minds after they saw her.
It hurt seeing them give a look of disgust and choosing someone else, she was used to it. The agency tried to make her look cute by dressing her in a bright green dress and even took a picture of her to send to the news station for their ‘give a sad hound a forever home’ story reel. The head lady of the agency told her not to hold her breath because the moment a demons realizes her nightmarish attitude problem, they’ll reject her. And that she’ll never amount to anything much.
She whined when thar memory played in her head and sat in the corner. Shivering from the concrete walls and floor.
The sounds of the kennel bars being slammed open jolted the little gray and white hellhound girl out of her thoughts. She looked up and saw two of the agency’s largest guards.
One had a muzzle in his hand and the other had a control pole in his hands.
She backed away when she realized that they were coming for her since she was the only one in this dirty cell.
“Alright Loona, try to be cooperative this time!” the guard with the muzzle warned.
Loona growled when they approached her, where they going to make her dress up in another stupid dress to take pictures again? She snapped her jaws at them as they got closer.
“Why would anyone want her?” the one with the control pole grumbled.
“Ask that weirdo who wants her,” the other guard answered.
Hearing the word ‘weirdo’ made the little girl lunge at them, she was not going anywhere. The guards were wearing bite suits and since she was still a pup, her bites didn’t do much and it only gave the guard that was holding the muzzle the opportunity to grab her. Despite being so small, the mastiff like hellhound wrestled her to the ground and forced the muzzle over her despite her pained screaming.
“Be a good girl Loona!” He yelled after he tightened the muzzle, never mind that he sitting on her back and that he was almost two hundred pounds which was too much for the little girl.
“Get off me!” Loona cried but they ignored her.
“Let’s make her pretty for the guy,” the guard standing by said, he knelt down and yanked on her hair and began to braid it.
She screamed, Loona hated having her hair done. She was tender headed and the smallest tug on her hair hurt.
The guards braided her hair into pigtails and tied them with green ribbons before the mastiff guard got off her after the control pole loop was around her neck. Loona was sniffling from the pain when she dragged out of her cell.
She resisted and howled, the other hounds in their cells gave her nasty smirks as she was led away. They heard that the ‘nightmare’ was being adopted by some weird guy, so they were more than happy that she was one to get picked. Some made lewd gestures at the ten year old while other yelled ‘dead mutt walking’.
Loona tried again to get away from the guards until she was thrown forward through an open door with yelp.
“Hey! Hey!” A new voice barked out, “You’re hurting her!”
She looked up and saw an imp marching up to her and the guards, that was when she realized that she was out of the kennel room and into the front room. It had a pink atmosphere with plush couches, cutesy posters that showed happy hounds with their forever families and it didn’t smell like piss.
“It’s fine sir, Loona is just being the nightmare she’s always been,” the voice of the head adoption lady said in her nasally voice, Loona hated that lady. She claimed that she wants to find good homes for all the hellhounds in the agency, but she only cared about making an easy buck.
Loona looked at the lady and then the imp, he was very tall for an imp, he wore a black jacket over a what looked like a suit, white spots were on his face and hands, and he had big horns.
He glared at the lady and then yelled at the guards to take the muzzle off her, “She’s so little! What the hells the matter with you!?”
Loona rubbed her sore jaw when the torture device was taken off, she looked at the strange guy and growled. He was probably going to take one look at her and say he changed his mind before leaving.
Instead, he smiled at her, “Hi there!”
She took a step back.
“My names Blitzo, it's nice to meet you!”
She growled in response.
The imp smiled and reached towards her, Loona was about to bite his hands until they reached for the ribbons in her hair. Gently, Blitzo untied them and undid the painful braids.
“There we go,” Blitzo said with a smile, “Those looked it hurt.”
Loona sniffled and looked away, she rubbed her throbbing scalp.
“I’ll take her!”
She looked up in surprise when she saw the man walk to the desk.
“Alright sir,” The lady gave him some forms, “Sign here and be warned, Loona has an attitude problem. If you ask me, she’ll never amount to anything much.”
Loona gripped the skirt of her dress and sniffled.
Blitzo looked at the little girl and he could see that she was never given a chance. She wasn’t a nightmare, she was just a little girl.
“We have a month long trial basis to see how your hound adjusts to their new environment, if you aren’t satisfied...”
“Forget it lady! I’m taking her!”
Everyone in the room looked at him in surprise, Loona was probably the most surprised.
“Sir?”
Blitzo gave a glare and filled out all the paperwork needed, “Here! She’s mine now and I’ll love her forever!”
The head lady still had a dumbfounded look on her face when she took back the papers and looked over them.
Loona was still confused when the imp named Blitzo walked back to her with that silly smile.
“Hello Loona,” he crouched down to her eye level and held her hands, she was still too surprised that she didn’t even bite him, “I’m your new daddy! Although you don’t have to call me that, call me Blitzo for now.”
“Uh....” the pup blinked, she still confused.
Loona was confused when the head lady gave him the adoption papers with the official signature of Beelzebub, legally saying that he was Loona’s guardian.
Loona was confused when she was taken outside the building, she didn't remember when was the last time she ever went outside and was told to smile for the camera.
She didn’t. A picture of a smiling Blitzo holding the adoption paper and a wide eyed hellhound pup with a stunned expression on her face was taken.
And Loona was confused when Blitzo led her to his beat up old van, he opened the passenger door and helped her in.
Blitzo got in the driver’s side and started the van.
“Just so you know Loonie-” -Loonie? - “you’re not a nightmare, you’re just a little girl,” Blitzo said with a smile.
She looked at him, still very confused about this man but he seemed nice. He yelled at the guards for being rough and he undid the painful braids all because he knew they were hurting her.
“Well, I'm starving!” Blitzo declared as he stomped on the gas pedal, “Let’s get WackDonalds! You can have whatever you want!”
Her ears perked up, she always wanted to try WackDonalds, the guards at the agency ate them all the time for lunch.
“Whatever I want?”
“Yeah! Whatever you want! It’s a special day after all!”
A special day huh? Loona sat back on the leather seat and looked at the rear view mirror.
The adoption agency was getting smaller and smaller as the van drove. And that was when reality hit her, she was adopted. Adopted by a guy who looked nice, but he had a goofy smile.
“I’m not perfect,” Blitzo’s voice caught her attention, and she turned to him, “But, I hope I can give you a better life than what you had at that place.”
He sounded a little sad and Loona didn’t like it.
“You didn’t say you changed your mind... that’s better so far,” She mumbled, playing with the skirt of the dress.
Blitzo let out a muffled squeal of happiness, he always wanted kids and now he had a daughter to call his own!
He couldn’t wait to take her home and spoil her rotten.
He was going to be better than his old man.
Way better.

Chapter Text
“This is the living room!” Blitzo declared with a big smile, proud of his small yet cozy space.
Loona blinked when she looked at the torn-up couch and small TV. It looked fancy but then again, she lived her whole life in a cell where the only luxury was a dirty blanket that her old cell mate threw at her because she would not stop shivering on the floor.
She was drinking her milkshake while holding her adoptive father’s tail, he told her to hold it so she wouldn’t wander off when they were at WackDonalds. At first it was weird because it was a tail but when it gently wrapped around her small wrist when they walked to the restaurant, it made her happy since no one has ever held her hand as gently as her new dad’s tail before.
True to his word, Blitzo ordered whatever Loona wanted. She wanted to try the junior burger with large fries and a giant strawberry vanilla milkshake, Blitzo happily got it for her. She noticed that he only got himself small fries and tried to share her burger, but he declined it, saying that he was happy with his fries.
After they ate, Loona was still drinking her milkshake when they arrived at the small apartment with Blitzo happily showing her around.
“This is the kitchen!” He showed her a small kitchenette, “I’m a decent enough cook but feel free to have a snack if you ever get hungry!”
“Really?”
Blitzo smiled, “Of course! But don’t overdo it, you'll get sick.”
Loona nodded and then she was led to the old couch.
“Sit here for now, I gotta do something really quick.”
Taking another sip from her milkshake, she nodded and kicked her legs that were dangling off the old cushion while Blitzo ran to another room. Loona looked around the room and saw posters of horses and then looked at a wall full of pictures. From what she could see, she saw that there were pictures of her new dad with a tall bird demon. She was confused but she didn’t want to ask, asking stupid questions resulted in isolation and Loona did not like being in isolation.
Blitzo walked out of the room with a large bag, it smelled like dirty clothes and Loona’s nose wrinkled.
“Don’t mind these Loonie! Just a little cleaning!”
Where did Loonie come from anyway?
Blitzo reached waked to the small coffee table in front of the couch and grabbed the remote and turned on the small TV. He turned it to the channel that played animated movies from the living realm.
“It’s going to be a while sweetie so enjoy a movie!”
“... Okay.”
Loona stared at the tv that played a movie about a princess who turned into a swan and sniffed, silly movie but it had a charm.
Meanwhile, Blitzo cleaned up his room of all his stuff, his clothes, his knickknacks that he collected over the years, and his old comforter because it smelt like him and the many one night stands he had. Loona didn’t deserve to sleep in stinky sheets, so he bought new sheets, but he didn’t have a blanket yet. He prepared for that though, there was a blanket in his closet, a very special blanket he hasn’t touched in a long time.
Blitzo put in the red sheets on the mattress after he sprayed fabric spray on it to make it smell fresh and made sure the sheets were tucked in snug and set the new pillows before he went to his closet and took out the old fleece blanket. It had a picture of a horse and brought the fabric to his nose, taking in a deep sniff. The smell of stale floral perfume flooded his nostrils, and he smiled sadly, mama wanted grandkids to spoil rotten. She would have loved Loona instantly like he did, Loona would already have new things and not hand me downs but at least mama would give her this old blanket.
“I miss you mama,” His voice was muffled from the blanket, “I hope I can give her a good life, like how you tried to give me.”
Taking in a final sniff, knowing that it would fade soon, Blitzo draped the blanket over the bed and smoothed it out gently.
Once he was satisfied, he took the last bags out of the room and called out to the little girl who was engrossed in the movie.
“Come here Loonie!”
Loona turned her head to her new dad and jumped off the couch, she walked up to him, and he showed her the room.
It was small room with one window and a full sized bed that was huge to her.
Blitzo took the half-finished milkshake and let the girl look around the room.
“What’s this?” she asked, her red eyes were so full of curiosity, how cute!
“This is your room!”
Loona who was now climbing on the bed looked at him in surprise, “my room?”
“Yup! The walls are bare now, but you can decorate it anyway you like,” Blitzo explained, and he smiled when he saw that the girl’s tail wagged.
“You had a long day Loonie, take a nap, I’ll be outside if you need me.”
The girl tried to hold back her smile, but she nodded.
“Thanks... daddy...”
It took all his strength to not tear up, she was already calling him ‘daddy’! Blitzo left the room with a small pep in his step while Loona gave the mattress a small bounce. It was a little lumpy, but it was better than the concrete floor, it smelled like it was sprayed with something, but she didn’t care. The fleece blanket though, smelled different. It had a fragrance on it, old flowers but it made her feel safe. Loona wrapped herself in the blanket and closed her eyes, she didn’t think that sleep would get her, but it did, and she smiled.
She was liking her new home and her new dad so far.
Outside her room, Blitzo looked in his small jar where he kept his emergency stash of cash and sighed softly. He already dipped into it to pay the adoption fees, five hundred bucks a total rip-off and the amount he had left was to give Loona the meal she wanted.
“I’m going to have to pull a double shift,” He said to himself, but he looked over his shoulder and saw a sleeping Loona and smiled, “Worth it though.”
He then took a sip from the milkshake, it had already melted, and it tasted gross.
“Can’t wait to tell Stolas!”

Chapter Text
The sounds of the metal gates scared the terrified pup after she was pushed in. The guards grumbled as he locked the doors.
“Another ungrateful mouth to feed,” He growled.
The pup was confused, what was he talking about? Mommy said she was coming back after she left her here.
She whimpered as she looked around the smelly cell and saw that she wasn’t alone. The other pup, a rottweiler, looked at her and growled.
“What are you looking at?!”
“N-Nothing!” She yelped, stepping back, “Where am I?”
The rottweiler rolled his eyes, “The adoption agency kid.”
The little girl looked at the hellhound with wide eyes, “Adoption agency? But my mommy said she would be back!”
“Your ‘mommy’ ain’t coming back!” snarled the rottweiler, “You were abandoned like everyone else here!”
“But-”
“Can it pipsqueak!”
The pup was pushed against the bars and the rottweiler went back to his bed. Leaving the little girl to curl up on the floor.
He was lying!
Mommy was coming back! She was coming back to take her home!
Mommy is coming back!
Mommy is coming back!
She sniffled and wiped her tears away
Loona snapped open her eyes and sat up in a jolt, she looked around and saw that she wasn’t in her dirty cell anymore. She blinked her red eyes when she registered that she was in a small room, on a full-sized bed and she was wrapped in a fleece blanket. Loona looked around and saw that it was dark outside, she never saw night before. There was a digital clock by her new bed, but she couldn’t tell time.
With a yawn, Loona crawled out of bed and cautiously walked towards the door and then she heard a voice.
“I’m serious Stols! She's so cute!” It was her new dad.
She was now curious, so she walked out of the room to find the imp sprawled out on the old couch with a phone in his hand.
“I know it was a huge decision, but I really wanted a kid, she needed a home, and I gave it to her,” Blitzo said, there was a hint of happiness in his voice.
“Yeah, yeah, I know birdbrain,” He then noticed that Loona had walked out of her room, “Gotta go Stols, I'll talk to you later. Bye!”
Blitzo hung up the phone and sat up with a smile, “Hey Loonie! Did you sleep well?”
She looked at her fingers, “I guess...”
Still smiling, Blitzo stood up and went to the kitchen, “It’s late so why how about some warm milk?”
“Late?”
“Yeah, it’s almost midnight, you should be in bed,” The imp answered, “Mama always said that a cup of warm milk is the best to relax.”
Loona tilted her head and followed her new dad to the kitchen, Blitzo took out the milk carton and looked at the numbers with a small frown.
“Okay it’s still good,” He mumbled to himself and poured what was left of the milk into a sauce pan and turned on the stove.
As the milk slowly heated up, Blitzo picked up Loona and placed her on the kitchen island.
“There we go!”
She was confused but she let it happen because the man didn’t do anything weirs so far.
“You’re not lactose intolerance, are you?”
Loona shook her head, “I drank a big milkshake and didn’t get sick!”
Blitzo chuckled, “You’re right, I'm sorry Loonie!”
Where did that name come from anyway?
Going back to stir the milk to make sure it didn’t scald and took it off the heat when he saw the small steam. He grabbed a clean mug and poured the warm liquid in before he grabbed the small jar that was nearby. Blitzo poured a nice dollop of the gooey ember goodness into the warm drink and stirred it with a hum.
Loona still could not read the guy, he looked like he was happy, but she didn’t know if he was faking it or not.
Once Blitzo was done, he gave the mug to Loona who sniffed it.
“Drink it slowly so you won’t get a tummy ache.”
She raised an eyebrow, but she did as she was told, she had to be good so she wouldn’t be sent back. Loona talked back to a fish demon who adopted her once and sent her back that same day. It was not a fun day, and she never wanted to go back.
Slowly, she drank the warm drink, her tail wagged from the sweet and creamy flavor.
“When you’re done, go back to bed because I need to go to work tomorrow,” She heard her new dad say, “There an area for employee kids to play so I won’t leave you here alone.”
Loona didn’t get it but at least she wouldn't be alone.
When she was done, Loona hopped off the counter and went back to her room. She didn't know if it was because of the milk or that she was still tired but the moment she wrapped herself back in the blanket, Loona fell back asleep. She liked the scent it had, she needed to ask what it was because it smelled so sweet.
Blitzo watched from the crack of the door and smiled, she was warming up to him so far in a day.
“Goodnight Loonie.”
Notes:

Chapter Text
Loona didn’t know how long she slept but she did not like that the old curtains of the room she was in were opened to let the sunshine in.
“Wakey, wakey Loonie!” she heard her new dad announce in a sing song voice.
A little noise escaped her throat, and she popped her head out of her blanket.
Blitzo was wearing a black jacket over a red shirt and pants along with black boots. He had a big smile on his face, and he had a white t-shirt and shorts in his hand.
“What’s going on?” Loona asked, she hated being woken up.
“Remember what I said? I need to go to work and you’re coming with me!” the imp said with a smile, and he handed her the clothes, “These are my old clothes when I was young, they might fit you.”
Loona reached for the clothes, and he left to give her privacy, “You have five minutes sweetie!”
“Uh... okay?” she jumped out of bed and closed the door before changing out of the green dress, she needed to ask for underwear later and she threw on the clothes she was given. They were a little baggy, but they didn’t fall off, so she ran out to see her dad munching on some donuts and a coffee.
“I’m dressed!” she announced.
“Great!” Blitzo smiled and gave her a small bag of doughnut holes and a small bottle of milk, “You can eat these in the van, we gotta go!”
Without a second thought, the girl followed him out of the apartment and outside to the van. He opened the door for her before he got in himself, Loona saw that the doughnuts were plain glazed ones and her mouth watered, they looked tasty, so she wolfed them down.
“Easy Loonie, you’ll get a tummy ache,” Blitzo said without looking away from the road.
Loona pouted but listened, she drank the milk to wash down the sweets.
“Have you heard of LooLoo land?” her dad asked when they left the parking lot.
“Hm... Kind of, I heard it’s where a creepy robot haunts when the sun goes down!” she answered.
Blitzo snickered, that was new, “It is a creepy clown alright.”
“So it’s true?!”
“Not really but don’t worry, I won’t let that freak near you.”
Loona looked at him with a raised eyebrow, “is he your enemy or something?”
Blitzo huffed, “You can say that sweetie.”
Loona’s tail wagged, her new dad has an enemy? Does that mean that she can see him fight them? That would be so cool!
“Now I’m going to lay down some ground rules Loona,” Blitzo said after he stopped at a traffic light, “When we get there, hold my tail and do not let go.”
“Why?”
“Because where we’re going is dangerous for little girls like you,” he gave her a serious look, “Don’t leave my side and when I drop you off at the kid area, don’t leave until I get you.”
The little girl tilted her head, but she nodded, “Okay!”
“Good.”
Loona decided to look out the window to watch the changing scenery. The red sky of pride changed to a blue green color. And then she saw a weird theme park in the distance.
“What’s that?” she asked, looking at her dad.
“That... is LooLoo land!” Blitzo said with fake joy laced in his voice, “The best place in all of hell for everyone young and old!”
“You don’t sound like you like it,” she said with a narrow look.
“Nope! But I need the money to take care of you,” the man said with a smile, “I get paid today so we’ll get you some new clothes. How long have you had that dress?”
Loona began to think about it, she used to wear a red sweater and leggings before being forced into that green dress, “Since that tv show I guess.”
“Huh,” so she was wearing that thing for three days?
“Okay then Loonie! We're almost there!”
The pup watched as they drove by the large parking lot of the park and into the underground garage. It was dark with orange lights on the concrete ceilings, and it had a weird smell to it when she was let out.
“Hold my tail and follow me,” Blitzo said to her, “Did you finish your breakfast?”
She nodded as she grabbed her dad’s tail, she saw a few imps standing nearby smoking and she didn’t like the looks they gave her. Blitzo didn’t like either, he hissed at them and it made them scram.
“See what I mean about staying by my side?”
Loona nodded.
“Good now follow me.”
Blitzo walked to a door and used a key card to open the door, the hallway was white, and it smelled like bleach. Loona followed her dad to a door that had drawings of a clown, and apples taped on them. It had words on it, but she didn’t know what it was saying since she didn’t know how to read.
“This is the daycare for employee’s kids, it's not much but at least you'll be able to play with toys.”
Loona never had a toy before so maybe she will have fun.
Blitzo opened the door to the daycare and Loona saw the many toys inside. She heard other children laughing and she wondered if she could make a friend or two. She saw that aside from the toys, there was a plush play mat on the white tile along with a tv that was playing a show for kids. Loona was fixated on the many colorful things in the white room that she didn’t notice her dad talking to the daycare lady.
“What do you mean you’re full?” he asked in disbelief, “I was told there was room.”
The daycare worker, an imp-succubus hybrid, looked at him with sympathy, “Sorry Blitzo but Natalie brought her baby here yesterday. The baby took the last spot.”
“Oh for the love of satan...” the imp growled, “You sure you can’t take her? She's a good girl!”
“I’m sorry Blitzo but I can’t,” the woman answered, “I wish I could, but I can only look after so many kids.”
Blitzo wanted to yell at her, but he knew she was right. The lazy fuck known as their boss was too cheap to hire more workers for the daycare.
“Thanks anyway...” he looked at Loona was still looking around, “Come on Loonie, let’s go.”
That snapped the pup out of her little world, “Dad?”
“Let’s go,” he moved to leave the room of toys.
“But you said...”
“I know sweetie but...” Blitzo began to think, “I want to spend all day with you! So you’re coming with me to work!”
Loona blinked but she followed her father out of the room, it sucked that she couldn’t stay there. She was only ten, but she wanted to at least have a toy of her own to play with or maybe make a friend.
She never had a friend before.
“Okay Loonie, you need to close your eyes for this one.”
Loona saw that they were going to another room full of lockers, she did as she was told and held onto Blitzo’s tail. Blitzo smiled and walked to his assigned locker that had his name scratched on it. He made Loona sit underneath it and opened it to grab the clown costume, he decided to skip the clown paint for today. His boss didn’t care as long as he was out there selling balloons. He hated this job, but it was all he could find after his last get rich quick scheme failed.
And now he had a kid to support, not that he regretted adopting her. Loona was just so cute!
Blitzo threw on his clown costume and looked at the pup, “Come on sweetie, let's go.”
Loona wanted to open her eyes, but he grabbed her hand and lead her out the men’s room, he was glad that he came in early before the others came in. Most likely, he’ll have to wear his costume home from now on.
Once they were out, Blitzo looked at his little girl and smiled, “You can open your eyes now sweetie.”
She opened them and they walked to another room, it was large room with vehicles, robot animals and balloons everywhere. It smelled weird and she didn’t like it.
“Yeah, I got used to the smell of motor oil here sweetie, hopefully you will too,” Blitzo chuckled, “Follow me.”
They walked to a row of pink wooden carts with pictures of balloons and smiling children on them. Loona was still confused to why she was here and not that room full of toys until she was picked up and placed on one of the carts.
“There we go!” Blitzo smiled, “Just stay on the cart and help me out, okay?”
Loona blinked, she wanted to protest but she didn’t want to be sent back to that agency, so she nodded.
“Don’t worry, I’ll get you lunch later. Maybe I’ll get you a treat!” Hinted the clown as he began to push the cart out of the large room and out big door.
Loona closed her eyes when the sun light flashed abruptly. She'll never get used that, she looked around as the cart was pushed, the theme park looked like a cheap carnival, and she could smell fried food being cooked while hearing the screams of other kids.
“Let me know if you need to use the restroom or if your thirsty, okay?” she heard her dad say to her gently.
She smiled and nodded, “’Kay!”
“And,” Blitzo gave her a glass jar that has a piece of paper with letters on it, “Guard this tip jar with your life!”
He had a serious look on his face, so Loona griped the jar, “I’ll bite anyone who tries!”
“That’s my girl!”
Blitzo pushed the cart around the park, yelling out his usual pitch of ‘two for one special on balloons’ while Loona watched the scenery. She wanted to go on the rides, but dad told her to stay put, even though the roller-coaster looked so much fun. A few parents walked up to the cart and bought a couple of balloons for their screaming gremlins, Loona’s ears were hurting from the screeches and Blitzo was grinding his teeth from it.
Be polite, be polite, he thought to himself. He needed to this time because happy parents tip well and he needed those tips now more than ever. He has a daughter now, a daughter he impulsively adopted because he fell instantly in love with her picture and wanted to give her a good home. And if tolerating the screams of brats who wanted a balloon was going to be the reason he gets a good tip, so be it.
“I want a red one!” the little screeching gremlin boy demanded while stomping his hoof on the ground.
“Coming right up....” Blitzo gritted out.
He opened the small door on top the cart and pulled out a bright red balloon and filled it from the small helium tank near Loona. He tied it off and handed it to the boy who screamed louder.
“It’s not red enough!” he slapped the balloon away.
Normally, Blitzo would have said a few choice words and possibly kick the kid but he needed that tip.
“Okay sport!”
Blitzo blew another red balloon, but the brat said it was too orange. So, another one was blown, and the screeching gremlin still wasn’t satisfied. Loona let out a whine, she was used to screams because of the agency but those were far away, and her ears were hurting from the screaming since it was closer.
“I want a red balloon now!” the kid was now on the ground kicking his fists and hooves, his parents were by his side comforting him and saying that they’ll look somewhere else before leaving.
“Wait! I’ll blow another!” Blitzo called out but the family was gone, leaving him with a bunch of red balloons and an empty helium tank.
“Great,” he grumbled, he needed to go back and get another one, but the boss was strict about filled balloons in the back.
“I’ll be back Loona, promise you won’t leave the cart?”
Loona nodded, “Don’t worry! I won’t leave the cart!”
“Good, I’ll be quick!”
With that, Blitzo ran to get another tank leaving the hellhound pup alone. She was used to being left alone but this time, she wasn’t going to be left alone long. Loona sighed and kicked her legs, she didn’t like how uncomfortable the cart was but at least she wasn’t going to stand all day. So far she was liking the guy, she didn’t know why she called him ‘daddy’ last night thought, she learned the hard way that getting attached too quickly would result in being sent back to the agency.
Loona sighed and then noticed a mom and her daughter walking up to the cart.
“Mommy! I want a red balloon,” she piped while pointing at the bunch of red balloons, she was loud but she didn’t screech like the boy.
“Okay sweetie,” the lady imp said softly and approached Loona, “How much?”
Loona blinked, “Uh...” she didn’t know what to say, “Um... two?”
“Ooh! That's a good price! I’ll take two!” the woman said with a smile.
The hellhound held out her jar, she figured out quickly that the tip jar was for the money. The imp pulled out four hellbucks and placed them in the jar before Loona untied two balloons.
“Thanks for your business!” she piped at the mother daughter pair.
They left with their balloons while Loona looked at the money in the jar, she was rich!
“I’m back Loonie!” Blitzo’s voice rang out from the stands.
She turned to see her new dad running to her with a green tank.
“Sorry sweetie!” he panted, “Hope you didn’t wait long.”
Loona’s tail wagged, “Nope! Look!”
She showed the jar, “I sold two balloons!”
Blitzo blinked and then he smiled, “That’s great Loonie!”
He hugged her and nuzzled her face, “You’re really getting a special treat now!”
The girl let out a giggle against her better judgment and went back to her spot on the cart. Blitzo sold more of the red balloons and Loona collected tips, she kept her promise of keeping the jar safe when a loan shark kid tried to take it. Loona bared her teeth and growled at the little thief making him run away. Meanwhile Blitzo sold all the red balloons and had to put up a sign that he was all out of the red ones, maybe he should give that screeching brat a thank you basket later.
It was high noon when Blitzo put up his ‘out to lunch’ sign on his cart, “Finally! I’m starving!”
Loona’s growling stomach said the same thing, “What’s there to eat around here?”
She was picked up and placed on the ground.
“Hm... mostly fried junk but there’s a cafe that sells decent stuff, let’s go there.”
Loona smiled, “Okay!”
“Alright then,” the imp chuckled and walked off, “Follow me, grab my tail.”
“Right...”
It was a leisure walk which made Loona feel great since she was able to stretch her legs after sitting on that cart. She held on to the tail, swinging it a bit like a normal kid would do, and looked around the scenery. It looked more like a fairground then an amusement park but what did she know?
Blitzo turned the corner, and Loona saw a simple building with a retro style, it was mostly empty and there was soft music playing which was a welcomed sound after hearing nothing but screaming kids.
They got in and were sat in a booth with old menus trapped between the table and glass.
“Order whatever you want sweetie!” Blitzo smiled, “Today’s on me!”
Loona looked at him and let out a nervous chuckle before looking at the menu, she saw letters but she didn’t know what they were saying. She gulped and tried to figure out what to say when she pointed at a picture of a strip steak with a lump of butter on it and fries on the side.
“Oh wow! You must really be hungry.”
She froze; did she make a mistake?
“Well, you were sitting on that cart all day, so I don’t blame ya,” Blitzo smiled, “I’ll get you that.”
His wallet screamed in protest, but Blitzo ignored it, Loona was hungry! Hellhounds are a product of Gluttony, they are always eating and as pups, they were known to eat their body weight in food. So it didn’t matter that Loona pointed at the steak, now he really needed to get those tips. He ordered himself a hell ham sandwich with chips with a coke while Loona was given sweet tea. The steak was juicy, and the juices mixed with the fries which made them taste yummier!
Loona’s tail wagged so fast that the wind made her hair flutter, Blitzo smiled and ate his sandwich, it wasn’t as savory as he would have wanted but it was filling. Loona finished her lunch and drank her tea, kicking her legs as she did. Blitzo remembered his friend telling him through a letter that his own kids would do that when they drink something after they ate, his friend guessed it was because they were happy and full.
“Ready?” Blitzo asked, his lunch break was over, and he only had three hours left before quitting time.
Loona nodded and looked around for the bathroom, she found it and ran to the girl’s part.
“Wash your hands!” Blitzo called out, a slam was his answer, “Oh boy...”
Thankfully Loona was quick and soon they were back outside selling balloons. Another thing to be thankful about was that all the brats were gone this time, less loud and thankful kids were left. For every time a parent bought a balloon, Loona held out the jar and was given a tip. It was a steady routine that lasted until Blitzo held up the closed sign on his cart.
“We’re done?” Loona asked with a tilted head.
“Yup! For balloon clowns like me, we stay until we sell all our balloons!” the imp answered as he stretched his back, “Sometimes we stay longer but since I had you, my little balloon assistant, I was able to finish.”
He then pushed the cart, now lighter since all the inventory was gone, and Loona was allowed to walk next to him so she could stretch her legs again.
“Sorry you were stuck with me all day Loonie, I just to spend time with you.”
Loona shrugged, “It’s fine, it was better than being cooped up inside a small space all day.”
Blitzo chuckled and they ended up back to the backroom to drop off the cart and the cash box, Loona was told to hide the jar in her shirt and to wait outside the locker room while her dad changed. She was to never leave her spot or go with anyone other than him, he gave her a serious look to show that he meant it. Blitzo was fast when he changed, he knew that his boss would try to find him and the tips he made from selling the balloons and if he knew that he brought his new kid with him, he might get her. He ran out of the locker room to find Loona by the door kicking her feet and her shirt had a bulge to show that she was still hiding the jar.
“Hey Loonie!” he smiled again, “sorry to keep you waiting!”
“Hm?” she looked up with her ears pointing up, “It’s okay I guess.”
“Good! Now let’s go!”
He walked off and Loona held his tail without being told to do so which made Blitzo smile. Instead of going to the parking garage, they ended up back to the park. Loona chose not to ask what her dad was doing until he walked up to a food stand that smelled sweet and savory.
Before Loona could ask anything, a small food tray was presented to her. It was an apple covered in caramel and coated with a deep fired shell.
“I said you would get a treat for helping me out Loona and I meant it,” Blitzo smiled, “I can’t do this all the time, but I want you to know that I’ll my best to make sure you’re happy every day.”
Loona looked at the treat and then at her new dad, he had a genuine smile, and he looked like he was happy. No one who adopted her and sent her back were this nice to her, they always got annoyed if she made a sound or got to close. But her new dad was not like that at all, he really wanted to make sure she was happy, and he was treating her like his kid even though it’s only been a day and a half.
And now here he was, giving her a treat all because she helped him, and he was promising her a good life.
Trying not to cry at the sweet gesture, Loona smiled.
“Thanks... dad...”
She then proceeded to eat her treat as she followed Blitzo out of the park, his tail was now wrapped around her waist so she could eat.
It was worth the small stomachache she had when they went home.
Notes:
And there you go!
I have a feeling that Loona was constantly sent back to that place in cannon which is why she had an attitude problem. it's sad that no one gave her a chance.
the next chapter will be of Loona meeting someone very important to her new dad *wink*
See you soon!
Chapter Text
“What do you mean I can’t come today?”
Loona was sitting on the small table after her dad gave her a plate of pancakes, eggs and bacon. She had just been told that she was not going to work with him today... again.
It was something that had been happening for about a week. Loona would get ready to go when she was stopped and told to stay home. Blitzo would leave something warm on the stove for her to eat and she was allowed to watch tv as long as she didn’t watch the channels that were written on the paper he left there, she didn’t know how to read nor did she know her numbers but Blitzo would leave the TV on a channel that was appropriate for kids. It was fun at first, but she hated it after being left at home four times. Which was weird because she was used to left alone.
Blitzo rubbed her head gently, “I’m sorry Loonie but I don’t have a choice.”
The pup’s ears were down, and she pouted, “It sucks...”
“I know but it’s a half day for me!” Blitzo smiled, “I’ll pick up Chinese!”
That didn’t make Loona feel any better, it only added to her fear of looking at the door and her dad was not coming home. He hasn’t done anything yet to make her think he would leave her, but it was still a fear she had.
“I left a pot of that stew you like on the stove, okay? And I’ll call you on my lunch break to check on you,” Blitzo said with a smile, he hoped she would understand why he had to leave her home alone.
Loona sighed and ate her breakfast slowly, “Okay dad...”
Blitzo kissed her on the head and grabbed his backpack, “I’ll be going now sweetie! Now you know the rules-”
“Don’t answer the door for anyone and if someone calls, wait for them to speak first.”
“Good!” he then walked to the door but not before turning his head to give her one last loving look, “Love you.”
Loona responded by giving him a small wave as the door closed. Once she knew she was alone, Loona moved a chair and blocked the door for extra protection. She learned the hard way that not doing that would result in scary things.
With a sigh, Loona decided to watch a movie from her dad’s collection even though she watched all of them.
“I hope I can go with him again soon.”
She curled up on the lumpy couch and watched the cheesy horse movie her dad loved so much.
X
Blitzo was barely out of the locker room of the theme park when he was stopped by his boss. A fat loan shark who wore cheap suits and smelled like cheap cologne. The buttons on the suit were screaming from being stretched out and the cologne made Blitzo’s eyes water a bit.
“I see you left your pet at home,” the man smirked, “Good, can’t have you sneaking your tips out again now, can we?”
The clown makeup with the permanent smile did nothing to hide the scowl Blitzo had on his face. There was no rule against bringing your kid with you if you worked as a vendor but because Blitzo was keeping his tips (which he had the right too), his boss was getting after him. Blitzo knew his boss well, he knew that fat bastard would try and do something to Loona if he saw her so for her safety, Blitzo had to leave at home.
“She’s not a pet sir, she’s my daughter,” the imp muttered.
“Yeah sure,” the man snarked as he walked off, “And you know a member of the Goetia. Listen Blitzo, this is a very busy park, and we can’t have ungrateful employees taking away money that belongs to us.”
Don't you mean you, Blitzo wanted to say but he held his tongue, “I’ll keep that in mind sir...”
“Good.”
Blitzo walked away and grabbed his balloon cart from the garage. For some reason, it felt heavier than usual. His tip jar rattled on the wooden surface; Loona would sit there holding the jar while talking about what kind of dream she had.
“I miss my Loonie...”
X
Loona really wished she could tell time.
That way she could tell how long she was rotting on the couch after watching her third movie.
A sigh escaped her mouth again and she went to change the movie when the phone rang.
“Dad?”
Walking up to the phone and waited for the person on the other end to speak just like dad told her.
“.... Blitzo?” a man’s voice asked in confusion, the voiced sounded fancy.
Loona stayed quiet and was about to hang up until the voice spoke again.
“Are you Loona?”
She hung up in fright and bolted to her room, she dove in her bed and covered herself in her blanket. How did that guy know her name?! Was he from the agency?! Was he going to take her away from the only dad she ever had?!
With a whimper, Loona wrapped the blanket around her tightly.
X
“That would explain why she hasn’t picked up the phone,” Blitzo chuckled as he ate his lunch which consisted of cheese and salsa.
It was his lunch break and his phone rang; it was Stolas who wanted to catch up on life. He thought that the imp was off so he called the apartment. Imagine his surprise when he realized that it was Loona who answered the phone.
“Sorry about that Stols,” Blitzo said on the phone, “I told her to stay quiet until anyone on the other end speaks to her.”
There was silence on the other end until Stolas finally spoke, “You left your new child home alone?”
“Hey, I had no choice,” Blitzo muttered, “The daycare here is full and the boss found out I was bringing her with me. I can’t even afford a babysitter.”
“Oh... the poor dear.”
Blitzo sighed, “Well else can I do? Not everyone has the privilege of live-in nannies like some do.”
A sigh was heard, “You know I rarely use the nannies if I don’t have work to do.”
“Yeah, yeah,” the clown drank his lukewarm soda and sighed, raising a kid was hard and he was only doing this for a month.
“... How about we meet up tomorrow?”
“Huh?”
“How about we meet up? You can bring Loona, and I’ll bring Octavia and Orion!”
Blitzo looked at his phone with a raised eyebrow before speaking, “I have work tomorrow.”
“That won't be a problem,” Stolas declared, “I will look after Loona while you work, you know the children absolutely love LooLoo land!”
That was tempting, Blitzo felt awful for leaving Loona alone and he wanted her to have fun.
“Aaaand, it will give you the opportunity to meet them.”
That got him, Blitzo really wanted to meet Stolas’ kids for some time. With all the shit that happened in his life and Stolas being busy, they never got the chance to meet up since those kids were born.
“We’ll see Stols, my breaks almost over.”
“Of course! I’ll call you tonight then!”
Blitzo smiled and exchanged goodbyes with the Goetic prince, he still wondered how after all these years he was able to keep this friendship. A friendship that formed from two old men, one who wanted to buy a boy to play with his son and one who was more than happy to sell his son for five dollars and a small condom, as if Blitzo wasn’t already reminded about how useless he was to his old man. What started as a one-day thing where Blitzo stole anything of value under the pressure from his father, turned into a genuine friendship that lasted way longer than his old friendship with Fizz. And after Stolas helped him when he lost his mother, Blitzo came clean to what happened the day they first met. Stolas reacted by smiling and promising that it didn’t matter. How he never got angry at him for that, he’ll never know.
Getting up from the bench he was sitting at Blitzo regretted not having a smoke and went back to his balloon cart.
X
When Loona was seven, she was adopted for the first time by a succubus and imp couple who seemed nice at first, the imp husband gave her a treat and smiled at her. But she found out that they adopted her as a playmate for the succubus’ elderly mother since they didn’t want to take care of her. The old lady was grumpy at first but Loona somehow managed to bring out the niceness in her. The old lady made good cookies, and she let her have a juice when no one was looking.
Everything was fine until Loona made the mistake of opening the door when she heard the doorbell. It was the lady from the adoption agency who was tipped off that Loona was given away illegally.
The last thing Loona remembered was the old lady watching the scene with a sad look on her face before she was thrown in the back of the adoption van.
Ever since then, Loona always barricaded the door if she was left alone. And her new dad was so nice, and she did not want to go anywhere!
Which was why she refused to leave her room when she heard the door rattle. Loona whined and curled up in her blanket, she didn’t want to leave!
“Loona!” Blitzo’s voice rang out from the door, “Open the door!”
Hearing the voice of her dad, Loona crawled out of her bed and walked out of her room. The chair on the door was still there and it was doing a good job.
“Loona!”
She scurried to the chair and removed it, “Sorry dad...”
Her ears were down, and her tail was between her legs, she was fidgeting with the hem of her gray shirt. Blitzo sighed softly and gently ruffled her head, he understood because he could tell that Loona was scared of being sent back.
“It’s okay sweetie,” he said as he held up the plastic bag that smelled like grease and soy sauce, “I brought dinner!”
That made the pup smile, and her tail wagged which made the imp happy.
“How about you set up the table while I change?”
Loona smiled, “Okay daddy!”
Happy feels ran up Blitzo’s spine when he heard that, Stolas told him that being called ‘daddy’ is the greatest feeling ever and he was right! Loona was with him for almost a month, and he was loving it! She still had some walls around her, understandable, but she was slowly letting him in, and she was starting to smile more.it made Blitzo all the more happy that he adopted her.
Blitzo set the bag on the small table and went to the bathroom where he kept his clothes. Ever since he adopted Loona, Blitzo moved all his clothes to the only bathroom in the apartment. He never wanted to change where Loona could see, it was not right. He did implement a very strict ‘knock first’ rule for the bathroom just to be safe.
Slipping out of the outfit he wore for day and throwing on his favorite horse shirt and a pair of shorts, Blitzo walked out to see that Loona already placed the plates, utensils and even grabbed their usual drinks, a beer and a soda.
“Aww thanks Loonie!”
The girl smiled and sat on her chair; she was starving and wanted to eat! Blitzo sat on his chair and took out the to go boxes and rice boxes. He got beef broccoli, two egg rolls and steamed rice for Loona since she needed to eat vegetables. He got himself some orange chicken and chicken fried rice.
“Eat up sweetie,” Blitzo opened his container of food, he was starving, that measly lunch did nothing to fill him up.
“I will!” Loona declared, she salivated when she saw the beef but frowned when she saw the broccoli.
“I know but you have to eat your greens.”
The girl pouted but begrudgingly ate the sprouts, the soy sauce made it tolerable, but she still hated it.
They ate in silence with Loona kicking her legs as she drank her soda.
“Say...” Blitzo spoke after a while, “wanna come to work with me tomorrow?”
Loona was fighting the urge to spit out the broccoli when she heard that, “Really?”
Her tail wagged and a smile stretched on her face, she really wanted to go back to work with her dad.
“I can tell you’re excited,” Blitzo smiled as he wolfed down his fried rice, “I need help tomorrow anyway and I miss having my little balloon assistant.”
A giggle escaped Loona’s mouth, “I can’t wait!”
By then she already finished her meal and ran to wash her face. Blitzo just smiled and continued his own meal, he then began to think about what Stolas said. This would be a good opportunity to meet up with his friend, they haven't seen each other in a year. Life was so unfair when you have a dead-end job with one day off a month and your best friend was a prince who was married to a squawking bitch. It also didn’t help that your best friend was a father to twins who needed his attention. Now that Blitzo was a dad himself, he understood.
He'll tell Loona about it later but right now Blitzo took out his phone and sent a quick text to Stolas, telling him he wanted to see him tomorrow and that he was brining Loona. Stolas answered almost immediately, he was so happy to see him again and said that he had wanted Blitzo to finally meet Octavia and Orion for such a long time. Can’t blame him, this meeting was a long time coming but they could never find the right time.
But now they do, and Stolas was kind enough to even offer to take Loona for the day while Blitzo worked. It was perfect! And it would give Loona the opportunity to make friends, sure the twins were way younger than her but still!
After he finished his meal, Blitzo went to his couch and turned it on to play a movie. He decided to watch a movie about an assassin; he admired the lore of the trade. Hell, if he could save enough money, he could start his own business. It would be a great way to climb out of the lower pit he like so many imps were forced into.
“What are you watching?” Loona asked, her face was cleaned, and she was wearing a large t-shirt and shorts. She crawled on the couch and let Blitzo pull her on to his lap.
“Just a movie about an assassin,” he answered while gently playing with the girl’s hair, it was so soft.
“Cool!”
Blitzo smiled and hugged her close, this was nice. It felt good to come home to something breathing and he hoped that Loona would run to him with a smile soon. It's only been a month so far and the adoption agency called him while he was driving home, they had the balls to ask him if he was going to send Loona back soon. The imp responded by telling that bitch face bitch on the other end that Loona was his baby and he was never sending her back. He also told her to get fucked by her boyfriend’s sister’s girlfriend before he hung up. He meant it when he said that Loona was his baby, they thought he was crazy for wanting the problem child. If only they knew that Loona was just a scared little girl who needed someone to love her and give what she needed. Blitzo could give that to her, he made sure she was fed, he made sure she took her showers (he stayed outside of the bathroom of course), he gave her a warm bed and nice clothes from the thrift store. Loona was loved and he was never sending her back!
“Say Loonie?” he asked when he saw how entranced the ten-year-old was at the movie.
She gave a small huff in response.
Blitzo chuckled and continued to play with the girl’s hair, “What do you think about being an assassin?”
Notes:
And there you go! technically Loona did meet Stolas, she just didn't know who he was yet.
The next chapter will be Loona really meeting Stolas!
Chapter 6
Notes:
After this time, I finally have this done!
hopefully it meets your expectations! Thank you for your patience!

Chapter Text
“Good morning Loonie!” Blitzo announced with a big smile on his face.
Loona groaned and sat up on the bed, she rubbed the sleep from her eyes, “Dad?”
“I know it’s early but it’s time to get ready!”
Blitzo sat on the bed gave her a hug, he could tell right away that she was not a morning demon. The hugs seemed to help give her some motivation to crawl out of bed.
“Sleep well?”
The girl yawned and hugged back, “A bit...”
“Good! Because we have a long day ahead of us sweetie!”
That perked the girl up from her sleepy haze and her ears that were drooping were now up.
“Really?” her tail wagged, she hated the idea of sitting on that stupid cart all day, but it still meant that she was going to be with her dad all day.”
Blitzø smiled and rubbed her head gently, "Go get changed, I made a quick breakfast for ya.”
With that, he got off the bed and left to give the girl privacy. Loona jumped off the bed and ran to grab a green dress. She remembered that dress, it was the one she wore the day she was adopted. She frowned, she hated that thing, but it was the only clean piece of clothing she had, and laundry day wasn’t here yet. Loon sighed and changed into the dress before she ran out her room where she saw a box of honey cereal on the table and smiled. It was her favorite quick breakfast!
“Eat up sweetie,” Blitzo smiled, “Today’s a special day!”
Loona nodded and ran to eat the full bowl waiting for her.
X
Kids ran to the balloon cart all the time, Loona was accustomed to it, but this was the first time that she nearly fell off the cart because two little kids collided with the cart.
It started off as a normal day where she would sit in on the balloon cart with her dad’s tip on her lap while her dad would push the cart through the park. But as the cart turned a corner, two kids ran right into the cart full force, Loona nearly fell but managed to steady herself.
She shook her head from the force when she heard her dad yell.
“Hey you little shits! Watch where you're fucking going!”
She turned to see her dad standing over the two kids who ran into his cart. The kids were two small birds with weird colored eyes, one was a girl, and the other was a boy. They trembled under Blitzo’s pissed off gaze.
“You think it’s fucking funny to body slam my livelihood?! My Loonie almost fell!!”
Weird, he never acted like that when kids ran into his cart. And Loona was okay; she didn’t really fall.
“S-s-s-s-s-s-s-sorry sir,” the girl chirped.
The boy trembled, “W-w-we were only playing.”
Blitzø was not having it, “Oh so you were only fucking playing?! Why I oughta-”
“CCCHHIIIIILDREEEEN!” a voice called out in desperation.
The tense scene quickly dissipated when an out of breath and very tall owl demon ran up to them.
He wheezed and huffed for air, “Excuse me...!” More wheezing “My apologies...” More gasping. The owl tried his best to catch his breath, Loona gulped when she realized that he was a prince.
“You were always bad at stamina Stols.”
The owl demon looked up at the imp with an annoyed look, “You try keeping up with two owls who love to run Blitzo!”
Loona now confused, one moment dad was yelling at those two kids and calling them names but now he was acting chummy towards their dad.
“So, these little shits are yours?” the clown asked with a bored yet with hint of curiosity tone in his voice, “They don’t look like the picture you sent me.”
“You mean the picture I sent you when they hatched? I've sent you other pictures of them.”
“Oh right, forgot.”
Stolas let out sigh of annoyance but he wasn't surprised, Blitzo was always like that.
“Anyway, children, what do we say?”
The twins shrunk under their father's firm gaze.
“We’re sorry sir,” the girl said softly.
“We didn’t mean to hit your cart,” the boy added.
Blitzo let out a chuckle, “Well at least they have manners. I guess I'll forgive ya.”
The owls lit up and introduced themselves.
ne gave a curtsy, “I’m Octavia! It's nice to meet you mean clown!”
The other followed with a bow, “I’m Orion! Hello mean clown!”
Stolas squawked, his pupils showing on his main eyes “Children! That’s not his name!”
“Nah its fine, I was an ass to them,” Blitzo said, brushing off the prince’s frantic attempts to correct his children, he bent down to their eye level and greeted them, “I don't mind being called mean clown but my names Blitzo.”
The children giggled.
Blitzo then stood up and picked up Loona who was still on his cart.
“Well, you wanted to meet her Stols, this little lady is my Loona!” The imp declared as he nuzzled the ten-year-old who was embarrassed by her adoptive father's open display of affection.
“It's only been a month,” She muttered but she didn’t do anything to stop it.
Stolas smiled and leaned over to say hello, “So you're the little girl Blitzo writes about all the time, I’m Stolas. It's nice to meet you finally!”
Loona looked away and buried her face in Blitzo’s shoulder, “Hi...”
Blitzo put her down and gave her some money, “You three go play, I need to work.”
Loona gave a glare, “I thought you said you needed my help! Was it just to babysit?!”
“No no dear, you will be with me! I'm the babysitter!” Stolas said quickly, he knew how temperamental hellhounds were when young.
The twins looked at their daddy curiously.
“It was last minute children, I apologize.”
They nodded in understanding; they liked Loona already and hoped they would be friends since they didn't have any.
As soon as they were given the okay, all three children ran off. Loona ran to a small snack stand since she wanted something to munch on, Octavia and Orion followed her in high pitched giggles. They weren’t as annoying as the other kids who laughed that high. Their giggles sounded fancy for some reason.
“Let’s see....” Loona looked at the sign that showed what the stand had, “Want a cotton candy?”
The little ones nodded fast.
“Yes,” they exclaimed at the same time, must be a twin thing.
The hellhound pup nodded and used her money to buy a large cotton candy for all of them to share. Octavia and Orion each grabbed a small piece of the fluffy treat and made dainty bites while Loona took a piece for herself. The fluff disappeared in her mouth making her tail wag, it was so sweet.
“There you three are!” she heard Stolas call out.
She turned her head to see the tall owl ran to here and the kids. Octavia and Orion giggled when they saw how frazzled their daddy looked while Loona gave him a piece of fluff to share.
“Want one?”
Stolas blinked and then smiled as he took the fluff, “Thank you dear.”
As much as he wanted to scold them for running off especially since his own children were five and small, he chose not to.
Today was meant to be a fun day after all.
“Let’s go for a walk before we go on any rides, having a stomach full of pure sugar is not a good idea,” he explained with a smile.
The little owls protested but they accepted it with pouts. Loona was miffed as well but she didn’t want this guy to tell her dad that she was bad. They walked around the park with Stolas making sure that the three children were within sight.
“Blitzo told me that he adopted a little girl last month, but I didn’t know that you would be this cute,” Stolas explained to the ten-year-old who blushed.
She looked away to hide it, “Yeah? He got me a month ago... I think... I... don’t know the days... he saw me on tv and now I’m here.”
Stolas hummed and reached to gently ruffle her soft head, normally she would have bitten the hand if it wasn't her dad’s hand, but this guy was being nice. And her dad knew him so he couldn’t have been bad since he was okay with this guy being around her.
The only rides they could go where mostly kiddie rides since the twins were too short for some of the rides Loona wanted to go on. Which was frustrating because the ones she wanted to go on required that she ride with an adult and Stolas looked like he didn’t want to leave his two children alone.
Stolas could see the cloud of dread over the pup’s head and began to think, what can he do with Loona were both Octavia and Orion can enjoy as well? Looking around, he noticed the game stand, he eagerly took the children there.
“Let’s play the games everyone!” he declared, “What do you think?”
Octavia and Orion chirped with joy, they loved the games! Loona shrugged her shoulders, dad always avoided the games here and wouldn’t tell her why.
“Daddy!” Octavia chimed as she grabbed a leg, “Let go to the squirt gun game!”
“No!” Orion grabbed the other leg, “Let’s do the milk bottle game!”
Loona just watched as they yelled loudly about where they wanted to go, Stolas look flustered, but he didn’t look angry or annoyed. It confused the girl, the adults in her life always yelled at her or the kids for being loud so watching Stolas being flustered and the twins freely yelling was new.
“Children!” he said firmly which made the small twins stop and Loona froze, “Let us ask Loona what game she wants to do first.”
“Huh?” the girl’s ears perked up, he was asking her?
Stolas smiled at her kindly, “Yes, you come here all the time, but you never got to play the games, right?”
She fiddled with the skirt of her dress and nodded, “Dad never lets me out of his sight when we come here so I didn’t know that there games here.”
“I see,” Stolas did remember how protective Blitzo was to everyone at the circus so it made sense for him to be this way to his adopted daughter, “Well you can pick what you find to your liking.”
Loona looked around the game booths and did not know which one to choose. She never played these games before, what if she picked the wrong one?!
Knowing that Stolas was waiting patiently, she pointed at a random game booth.
“A shooting game?”
Loona blinked and saw that game she pointed at was a ‘shoot and exorcist’ game. She gulped and wanted to change her mind, but the twins immediately got excited and ran to it.
“Now darlings,” Stolas walked up to them and gave them each five dollars, “Loona picked so she gets first turn.”
The girl panicked, she needed to pay? How? She didn’t know if the money her dad gave her was enough! She still didn’t know her numbers!
“Loona?” she heard Stolas’ voice call out to her and looked up to see him looking at her with concern, “are you alright?”
“U-um... yeah! I’m okay!” she said as she pulled out the money she had, what was she supposed to give?
Stolas saw that she had a couple of twenties, a ten and a five in her hand. He was surprised that Blitzø gave her that amount since he was trying to be a frugal but what also surprised him was that Loona was looking at the bills in confusion.
“Dear? Do you not know your numbers?”
The girl gulped, it wasn’t her fault! No one taught her how to read!
“It’s alright,” Stolas took the five from her small stash and gave it to her, “use this to play. If you wish, I will help you with numbers.”
“Really?” Loona’s tail wagged at the idea, so far, her dad only taught her what the words ‘stop’ and ‘go’ meant but he could barely read himself so it was hard to continue.
“Of course!” the prince said with a smile, he suspected that Loona was possibly illiterate due to her time at the agency, “When the day is over, I’ll talk to your father about teaching you before you start school.”
She smiled and nodded before she ran to the booth to join the twins who were holding their prizes, an apple and a thing. She figured it out quickly that she had to shoot those stupid angels for a prize, you would get a deluxe prize if you shot at Adam. Giving her five-dollar bill to the imp managing the stand, Loona took the gun and started shooting, the deluxe prize was a large plush of the thing and she really wanted it. She hit the angels but kept aiming for Adam until she finally did, Loona smiled when the pellet hit it but her happiness was short lived when the guy at the game hit the ‘loser’ button.
“Better luck next time kid,” he said while counting the money he had.
“Hey! I hit Adam!”
Stolas who saw it crossed his arms, “I quite agree, the pellet hit it.”
The small imp, not bothering to look up, pointed his thumb at the picture of Adam, “she did hit it but it’s still standing. The whole idea is that she shoot it down, so like I said to the mutt, better luck next time.”
Loona could not believe what she was hearing! What a rip off! Growling, she lunged at the imp, baring her teeth and was ready to attack but Stolas grabbed her.
“Loona no!” he yelled and stepped away, “Children we’re going somewhere else!”
Try as she might, Loona could not get out of the owl’s grasp. He was holding her in a gentle grip but it was strong enough to keep her from getting out of it. Stolas kept walking until he found a bench and sat her down, Loona was growling but did not make any move to try and run to the stall.
“Loona,” she heard Stolas say in a tone that made her gulp, “I understand your frustration but losing your temper like that is no the way to go.”
She sniffled and gripped her skirt, she was waiting for Stolas to grab her and tell her dad to send her back to the agency but that didn’t happen. Instead, a gentle hand was placed on her head and her hair was ruffled.
“Let us go to the gift shop, I’ll get you a souvenir,” he smiled.
Why was he being so nice?
Octavia walked up to the girl and offered her apple plush, “You can have my prize if you want.”
Orion did the same with his, “Take mine too.”
Loona blinked, these kids were willing to share their prizes? To her? Weren’t they demon royalty or something?
While asking herself that, she shook her head, “It’s yours... not mine...”
The twins chirped in confusion and looked at their daddy who smiled at his children’s kindness. He clapped his hands once with a hoot, “Let us go, we get a souvenir for Loona, and we keep exploring the park!”
Octavia and Orion cheered with delight and Stolas offered his hand for Loona to take. Which she did while he knelt down to place Octavia on his shoulders and picked up Orion. He still held Loona’s hand as he brought her to the small shop that sold trinkets and told her to pick whatever she wanted.
As much as Loona wanted to pick the large thing that looked like the deluxe prize, she picked an apple coffee cup. Dad had his own cup, so she wanted one of her own. Stolas was more than happy to pay for it.
Later they went to a show where there was a robot dancing around. Loona was immediately spooked by the clown and when she saw Octavia and Orion cry after they were pushed towards the stage, she threw her cup at it. It hit the robot and shattered, Stolas grabbed all three children and ran out, he did buy a cup for Loona as he scolded her for acting out again while doing so.
The rest of the day was a blur, they went to the diner in the park for lunch, they went of the merry-go-round since the twins were tall enough to ride it, and Loona found a ride she wanted to ride that didn’t need an adult.
Soon, Loona was dozing off when they sat down on the bench, the sun was setting and normally her dad would clock out and get ready to home. She was never this tired after spending all day at the park, but all the running around made her sleepy. Stolas let her lean on him which still confused her to why he was so nice and why she trusted him so quickly.
The gentle petting on her head slowly made her fall into a deep sleep.
X
Blitzo growled as he grabbed everything that was in his locker and threw it in his bag. His clown costume was already in the trash along with his key card he used to get in the back.
“Fucking ass wipe...” he said through his teeth.
When he was nearing the end of his shift, his boss called him and told him that since Blitzo kept ‘stealing’ his tips that he was going to withhold his paycheck, again.
One thing led to another which led to Blitzo storming out of the boss’s office with a wad of cash in hand and a severely beaten up loan shark boss slumped over his desk.
No one was going to care that the fat fuck was half dead. He had been stealing tips and withholding paychecks for years, it was about time someone gave him what was coming to him!
Now Blitzo was unemployed and had a kid.
He wanted to keep this stupid job until his plan to make his own business was ready but now he had to start all over again.
Just fucking great!
After clearing out his locker and stuffing the money he stole in his pocket, Blitzo left the room and stormed all the way to the main park area where he was sure that Stolas would be with the kids.
No doubt the prince would berate him for quitting yet another job since he now had a kid to raise but he could not do this anymore.
He could only hope that Stolas would understand this time.
Notes:
