Shortly after the Houses of Paint and Lead had been re-combined in Elastic Valley, Hero and RGB -
now re-accompanied by Assok
- had settled into the House, still getting used to the Houses being combined once more - Hero’s doing.
..What was NOT Hero’s doing was the fact a raging, freezing BLIZZARD had somehow hit outside, despite weather never truly being a problem in The World of Make Believe, nor had it really ever snowed before, but somehow the outside looked as if it was a frigid landscape of pure white snow. Perhaps it was caused by the House itself?
“So,” RGB started, “There’s a lot going on here, so I'm going to address things in order of importance: starting with the fact there is quite literally a winter wonderland outside of our door.” The well dressed telly-headed man mused, utterly baffled before noting the faintest little footsteps behind him, his smooth bamboo cane hooking Hero by the back of the shirt in an instant to prevent her from going outside and into the cold.
“Awwhh!! But RGB, I wanna go and play in the snow!” Hero pouted, glancing at Assok and earning an echoed “o’play!” from the sock. “See? Assok wants to, and so do I!” That merely earned her a scolding about how “It’s Freezing Out There And You’ll Get Lost And I Cannot Lose Another Hero When We’ve Gotten So Far-” bla bla bla. Adults sure were boring sometimes.
“Hero- HERO! Are you LISTENING?! I’m trying to talk and you’re just blatantly ignoring me!” RGB chided, hauling her away from the door by the collar of her shirt, placing her onto the uppermost bunk of the bunkbed provided by the House.
Hero pouted at this, crossing her arms and staring out the window longingly. “It’s cold..” ..and the House did exactly what was expected of it,
to be a problem
.
In mere seconds the House was near freezing, just
great
.
“Good god- Well of COURSE, just- THANKS A LOT!” RGB shouted to the House, hand coming up to wipe away the mix of red and green dripping from his screen, annoyance visible despite his lack of eyes and actual human face.
Hero immediately regretted her words, now shivering and clutching to the lapel of her guide’s suitjacket, murmuring against the warm fabric. “So cold..” That earned a echoed “s’cold.” from Assok who was now perched on her shoulder for warmth, all three of the temporary denizens staying close for warmth.
Deciding she had to be brave and live up to her name, Hero split off from the somewhat-hug and had a Thought, tugging RGB’s sleeve and earning a confused hum from the telly-headed sham-artist that was her guide, gesturing for him to lean down to her height.
“Hero, now what in the World are you pla-AACHK!!” RGB’s query was quickly cut off by Hero (and Assok echoing his unpleasant little sound he made;) shoving her little hand onto his screen and getting some of his Colorbleed onto her fingers, grabbing a paper and drawing a fireplace, holding it up to where it should fit and- BAM! The house adapted to have one!
“..Well that’s certainly one way to do it! Capital, Hero!” RGB cheered, gratefully sitting- er, moreso falling onto his face infront of the fireplace onto the soft rug and sighing tiredly. Hero joined him soon after with Assok in tow, the group warming up quickly and telling stories until Hero fell asleep, followed by Assok and soon RGB.
It was quiet. Peaceful, even.
And RGB was alright having those strange visions caused by her Dreams. Just this once.
..Just this once.
Hah. Not letting himself get attached? Such a stupid idea, he thought now. Hero was a CHILD, not even old enough to understand how anything works and he tried to deny her his caring? How preposterous now that he thought about it!
He was damn well attached thank you very much, this was HIS Hero and he was going to do what he’d swore, save the world with a.. A child.
It sounded impossible, surely leading to death, but- He’d give anything for Hero. Down to the very last particle of Stuff he was made of. Hell, he’d do anything for that kid!
..and it was eating him up on the inside, the fact that she couldn't go home. He’d taken her from her actual home and brought her to The World of Make Believe, asked if she wanted to “be a Hero”- she couldn’t go back!! He was a monster, a no-good sham-artist
good-for-nothing-
He was cut from his thoughts when Hero clung to his side, murmuring sleepy incoherencies as she smiled against his suit. And oh, he melted. Oh so carefully pulling her close and stroking her hair, he swore she’d break if he even looked at her too harshly.
This child was going to be the death of him, wasn’t she? Not that he minded,
He was quite alright with dying if it saved her.
