[Congratulations, Kim Dokja. You successfully entered the System’s “Path to a Happy Life” Assistance Program. Follow the instructions and you will live happily for the rest of your days ଘ(੭*ˊᵕˋ)੭* ੈ♡‧₊˚]

………

‘I need to go back to the hospital, this surely is a side effect from the accident.’, Kim Dokja thought, as right in front of his eyes stood a floating and glowing notification panel. Just like in a videogame. WTF. And why was that voice so high pitched and cheerful and are those kaomojis??? His mental state must be worse than he thought, even creating scenarios like this…

“Hey, why do you look so surprised all of a sudden?”, Han Sooyoung was giving him a “weirdo” look as she waited for the signal to become green again.

Ignoring his friend, he inhaled, closed his eyes, counted to ten, exhaled and opened his eyes once again. The videogame-like panel was still floating in front of his eyes, glowing in all of its glory.

“Sooyoung-ah, if I say that right in front of me there’s a notification panel, and that I also heard a strange voice in my head, what would you say?”

Han Sooyoung stared at him for a few seconds, the exasperated phrase “Ha ha ha you’re so funny, Kim Dokja” written on her face, until it became a “You’re serious???” face. She maneuvered the steering wheel, returning to the way that they’ve come, probably breaking a dozen traffic laws in seconds.

“I’m taking you back to the hospital. Psychiatric ward.”

“Yeah, I thought about that too…”

She actually didn’t though, going on a different route and stopping by an ice-cream shop that looked a bit too fancy for his taste and wallet. He looked at her, question marks over his head.

“Get out, I’m paying you some sweets.” - Han Sooyoung said as she left the car and walked directly to the shop’s glass doors. He sighed, leaving the car and following behind her.

“Wh-”

“I think you’re just stressed. I mean, if I was used as a scapegoat and fired from a company that I’ve given my blood, sweat and soul for what? Five years? And then got expelled by my landlord for no reason, and right after that got myself in a serious car accident all in the same week and had to stay in a hospital bed for half a month, I too would start seeing weird things.”, the woman that he considered his friend rambled, choosing a bunch of weird flavors of ice-cream and proceeding to go to the cashier with her colorful bowl. “How can you be so unlucky, damn… And pick your flavors faster or I ain’t paying for yours too.”, she finished, rushing him.

Obviously not wanting to pay for an ice-cream worth a few days of food for him, he picked whatever flavor he first saw and followed to the cashier. His mind was still puzzled by the floating system notification that never left his vision field. Shouldn’t it disappear already?

“Vanilla, hah, very on brand.” Han Sooyoung interrupted her chit-chat with the cashier attendant to look at his bland bowl of ice-cream, then at him, and scoffed.

What was that witch implying? He holded his tongue, walking to a small balcony with adorable white painted iron tables and chairs in the domains of the store. It even had a bunch of plants and flowers scattered around, the view facing other nice shops in the neighborhood, creating a very atmospheric ambience. He sat in one of the chairs, tasted a spoonful of ice-cream (maybe not worth 15000 wons but probably the best vanilla ice-cream his taste buds would experience in his lifetime), and tried to reason his thoughts.

With the experience of reading so many trashy fantasy and system-based webnovels, if, IF, what he was seeing was real, the next thing to do would be trying to talk with the so-called System, right?

‘Hello, System…?’, Kim Dokja said in his mind, because he wouldn’t probably know peace until he died if Han Sooyoung heard him saying those words out loud.

[Hello, Kim Dokja ପ(๑•ᴗ•๑)ଓ ♡]

Shit, it did answer. He tried to keep his nerves calm, telling himself he wasn’t actually losing his mind. Ok, first things first…

‘How do I get rid of this notification panel?’ It was quite annoying and blocked a bit of his field of vision.

[You can just click on the small X in the right upright corner ପ(。˃ ᵕ ˂。)ଓ ]

Not having realized there was an ‘X’, Kim Dokja felt a bit stupid. To be fair, it was a rather bizarre situation, he couldn’t be blamed. But what were those kaomojis though, is the System a fourteen year old girl or something?

[...]

‘Ok. Mind elaborating a bit more about this… program?’, he asked, still feeling quite insane to be having a conversation with a voice in his head.

[Of course! The “Path to a Happy Life” Assistance Program is a series of interconnected quests that the player, that is, you, should do to achieve lifetime happiness! Every time you complete a quest, obediently following its instructions, you will be granted a reward, and the conclusion of one quest will also automatically start a new one after a cooldown time, until you finish all of the quests and reach your happy ending. There’s also side quests, but those are not necessary to the completion of the program. It is this simple ପ(๑•ᴗ•๑)ଓ]

Dokja listened quietly, pondering. It must NOT be that simple, he wasn’t a total fool to fall for this.

‘Can I refuse to participate in this program?’, he asked.

[No ପ(๑•ᴗ•๑)ଓ]

… Didn’t that sound a bit passive aggressive?

‘Elaborate on that then. How can I have no rights in this decision? Sounds like a trap to me…’, he said, eating his ice-cream that was rapidly melting.

[You remember the moment following the accident, Kim Dokja? At that moment, when you were bleeding in the middle of the road and thought that you were going to truly die this time, you wished you could’ve had a more happy life. You wished to know how it felt to be loved again, you wished to be able to laugh out of pure joy like you see other people doing with their loved ones. Deep down, in a little corner of your heart, you wished to have someone or something to give you one more chance to try.]

Kim Dokja didn’t say anything for a couple of minutes.

He patiently finished his ice-cream and looked inside the shop to look for Han Sooyoung, who was laughing at something the pretty cashier said, very obviously flirting. They seemed to know each other very well, but he never heard her talk about having friends other than him, or even having a girl crush.

But of course she had, he was the only lonely one, with her as a friend as his only friend, which he still considered a miracle considering how much they bickered and annoyed each other.

‘System, how do you know about all of that?’, he reluctantly asked.

[I know you the best! That’s why I choose you for the program, to give you a second chance and help you achieve your happy dream ଘ( ˊᵕˋ )ଓ]

‘I don’t have a ‘‘happy dream’’...’

[...]

‘Okay.’

[Okay? Okay what ଘ(・_・?)ଓ]

Kim Dokja sighed, looking tired. ‘Okay, I accept participating in your program’.

[Ohhh! I’m really glad! You will have no regrets, Kim Dokja ଘ(੭*ˊᵕˋ)੭* ੈ♡‧₊˚]

‘I surely hope so…’, Dokja thought, already feeling like he walked himself into a lion’s lair. ‘When will I start receiving the quests?’, he asked to the voice inside his head.

[Don’t worry, you will soon receive your first quest! Please pay attention and follow the instructions to the core, or things may not go as planned. See you soon, Kim Dokja ଘ(੭*ˊᵕˋ)੭ ]

‘...’

And then the overly cheerful voice disappeared, Kim Dokja’s mind suddenly as silent as it could be.

“That was something…”, he said, throwing the empty plastic bowl and little spoon in a nearby trash bin.

“What was what? Are you talking to yourself in public now?”, Han Sooyoung appeared by Dokja’s side from thin air, making him jump from the chair, and then walked away. “My poor boy, the sun is too hot for you, isn't it?”she said to her inanimate car parked under the scorching midday sun.

“So hypocrite”, Kim Dokja scoffed and passed by her to enter the car, trying to make himself comfortable in the oven that was in its interior. “Drop me in the address that I sent to you earlier”, he asked.

Han Sooyoung sat on the driver’s seat and gave him a look.

“... please.”, Dokja added with a fake smile.

“That’s how I like it.”, she returned the fake smile and asked “Why there, though? You found yourself a new place while you were in the hospital? Didn’t I say you could stay at my house for a while until you could find somewhere reasonable to move in?”

“Hah, as if I would love to owe you a favor”. Dokja wasnt that desperate. Yet. And he did think it would be a terrible idea, knowing how they always had disagreements.

“Ouch, you can’t even want to help friends these days…”, Han Sooyoung pretended to be hurt, taking one hand from the steering wheel and placing it in her heart.

“I think this one is a nice place, it’s cheap. There’s also a convenience store just across the street.” Dokja hated how he almost sounded defensive.

“Indeed sounds like a paradise for someone like you”, his friend said, laughing. Smiling lightly, he leaned his head on the passenger seat, looking the passing city through the window and thinking about the weird morning that he just had.

Notes:

ok, so. the ice-cream pricing and comparisons to a few days of food probably doesn't make sense but i tried my best to calculate what an expensive ice-cream would cost in South Korea, so i'm sorry it is off.
i also don’t know if in other countries exist these types of ice-cream shops where you serve yourself by picking up the flavors and toppings like in a buffet, i just went with what i’m accustomed in my country lol

Chapter 2: Chapter 2

Chapter Text

The day could get weirder. The thought of being pulled without his consent to a third rate television program that pranked poor unfortunate souls passed through his mind. Maybe all of this was a big joke and he was the clown of the show. Because what else could explain his current situation?

“What do you mean you live here?”, he asked the rather pretty man standing in the door of the apartment that he HAD paid a big portion of the deposit with the money that he got from his demission.

“Do you have hearing problems? I just said that, this is my house.”, the man was getting more annoyed as the seconds passed. “You must have come to the wrong apartment.”, he said, already closing the door in Kim Dokja’s confused face.

“Wait!”, he reached the door, almost getting his hand crushed by it if it wasn't for the fast reaction of the other man, who now looked angry. “I didn’t though, I even video called the landlord last week, and he gave me an online house tour. I paid the deposit and all, look, I have the documents.” Kim Dokja quickly showed the videos and documents on his phone to the man, proving that this was the right apartment.

The anger gave place to confusion in the stranger’s face, and after looking meticulously through all the proofs to see if it wasn't some kind of scam, he sighed.

“Okay, I believe there has been a confusion with the landlord, I will call him and see what happened.”, the man said, passing one hand through his black hair in an exasperated way and then picked his own phone, calling the landlord.

Dokja stood in the corridor awkwardly, almost tempted to say that he would just go away and cancel the contract but then again, he needed a place to stay, he couldn’t exactly afford other places or pay a contract break fee, this was the only acceptable place that he could pay in his current financial situation. His pride also wouldn’t allow him to go to Han Sooyoung's apartment with his tail between his legs. So he could just wait there with this stranger for the landlord to arrive and sort out the confusion.

After almost one hour of awkward silence and tentatives of casual conversation (the stranger's name was Yoo Joonghyuk, worked from home -“Streaming”, he had said - and that’s all that Kim Dokja got to know, but at least the face had a name now), the landlord, a balding middle aged man with a beer belly, finally arrived.

“Oh, hello Kim Dokja-ssi, and Yoo Joonghyuk-ssi”, the man looked at the later's angry face apprehensively, his smile weak. “So sorry for the wait, the transit was terrible, peak hour, you know? Hahaha”, he tried

“Why did you rent my house to another person? Our contract only ends one year ahead.”, Yoo Joonhyuk said straight to the point, with no patience for chit-chatting. “And shouldn't I get a notice if I’m getting expelled, Gong Pildu?”

Gong Pildu looked at Yoo Joonghyuk with a confused look on his sweaty face.

“I did send you a communication notice about this, Yoo Joonghyuk-ssi. And you agreed.”, the middle aged man said.

“No, you didn’t. And I didn't either.”

“Yes, you did. You responded very fast and with a thumbs up emoji, so I thought you were okay with getting a male roommate.”, Gong Pildu laughed awkwardly, looking at Yoo Joonghyuk as if he was stupid.

Kim Dokja stood by the side, observing the situation and figuratively eating popcorn. This was some unexpected development, he thought.

Right now, Yoo Jonghyuk looked like he was about to commit a crime. “You take me for a stupid person? I would never agree to something so ridiculous as this.”, he said, gritting his teeth.

Gong Pildu sighed, reached for a cigarette pack in his trousers pocket, saw that the pack was empty and sighed again. Kim Dokja almost felt sorry for the man that looked nervous to be framed as a scammer, but then remembered that he too was brought to this messy situation and the pity left as soon as it arrived. He too has some things to say.

“I also never agreed to something like this.” he finally said, crossing his arms. “You never mentioned a roommate.”

“Wait, wait a minute, both of you. I’m not confused or scamming anyone here. And I have proof that both of you agreed so just see for yourselves.”, the man rummaged through his things and shoved in both of the other two faces a contract and a chat history on his phone. He looked triumphant holding those things, staring at their faces with a ‘you two are the stupids here’ smile.

Yoo Joonghyuk had a rare surprised expression, looking at the chat history. He did reply to some enormous text that Gong Pildu had sent him last week with a thumbs up emoji. Because the text started with a “Good morning. Considering the current state of the economy and prices rapidly rising in all sectors, we decided to change some policies in the condominium. Please read carefully the new changes of policies and rules for a better understanding between the landlord and the residents of the building [...]”.

He thought it was just bullshit regarding rules or rising the building’s manutention fee so he sent the emoji, not bothering to read the whole thing, and that was in fact his mistake, because on that giant text, down bellow, read: “To maintain the rent price without big changes, residents that live alone have the option to share the apartment with another new resident of the same gender (to avoid further possible problems relating to gender differences). This policy will start next week, and new possible residents will be visiting the apartments in the following days. If the resident doesn’t wish to share their apartament, please send us a message announcing so in a maximum of two days.”

Yoo Joonghyuk didn’t know how to react to that. Maybe he was, in fact, stupid. He wanted to punch that smug face that Gong Pildu was showing. But it wasn’t really the man’s fault, it was HIS fault, for not reading the whole thing so he could just tighten his fists and try to think of some solution for the situation that wasn’t murder.

Kim Dokja, at the same time, was in a similar situation. Because it was written on the contract that it was a shared apartment, but he didn't notice probably because on the signing day, he may or may not be a bit fuzzy minded with medication and this part of the text was at the bottom of the page, written with smaller letters. And he remembered that Han Sooyoung was extra annoying that day accompanying him in the patient’s room, so his attention was divided between reading the contract and bickering with her. But something still felt wrong…

Then he remembered.

“Hey, you said to me that the house was empty during the videocall tour!”, Kim Dokja exclamed, pointing at Gong Pildu in an accusatory way.

“Well, the house was empty. Yoo Joonghyuk-ssi wasn't there at the moment.”, the man had the audacity to smile as he replied.

He wondered if Yoo Joonghyuk would be a good partner in crime and help him hide a body. He had a strong build so he probably could carry the body of the middle-aged landlord with no big effort.

“Well, since everything is sorted out, I will be going. Have a good talk, both of you.”, said Gong Pildu, almost as if he felt the sudden danger that his life was about to face, and left in a hurry. How one could walk so fast was beyond anyone's understanding.

The remaining two stood in the corridor, not knowing what to do or say first. A few minutes passed before Kim Dokja sighed.

“Well, Yoo Joonghyuk-ssi, it seems we will be seeing each other every day from now on.”, he laughed, and it sounded so weird and fake that he considered jumping off the 7th floor.

Yoo Joonghyuk looked at him for barely a second with a disgusted face, gave him his back and entered the apartment, loudly closing the door behind him.

Kim Dokja: …

[Hello, Kim Dokja! It’s been a while ଘ( ˊ ᵕ ˋ )ଓ]

‘It’s only been a few hours though…’

[Here’s your first quest! Please read it carefully, and good luck ଘ(੭*ˊᵕˋ)੭* ̀ˋ.]

[Mission 1 of ??? -

Time remaining: 3 days
Reward: ?
Failure: Find rotten tomatoes in every meal you eat for one month]

Kim Dokja read that prompt a few times, and looked at the very closed door in front of him. Soon it would start to get dark outside, and all he wanted was a comfortable bed or sofa to rest from this crazy day. Not wanting to starve himself to death for a month, he calmly walked to the door and knocked a few times.

He knocked again.

He knocked a third time, this turn adding a “Ya, you bastard, open the door. I’m also paying for this apartament!”

Finally he received a response from behind the door.

“Don’t care. Get lost!”

This asshole.

Notes:

for the sake of ⊹˚₊‧ plot ‧₊˚⊹ makes sense kdj being able to rent an apartment without even going to the place physically to sign the contract. there is such a thing like online signatures nowadays, you see… and he was desperate :)

Chapter Text

Kim Dokja was about to leave when the door suddenly opened again. Yoo Joonghyuk just spared a glance at him and muttered.

“Come in.”

Finally being able to put his feet inside the apartment, Kim Dokja entered, pushing his suitcases through the door, feeling like he won a battle.

“You know, Yoo Joonghyuk, since we’re going to be roommates you should speak more kindly.”, he said to the man who was observing him with crossed arms like he was an insect. It seems they wouldn't have a good coexistence. How wonderful.

“Shut up.”, Yoo Joonghyuk said, walking away to what Kim Dokja thought to be his streaming office. Then the man turned back to him. “I’m only letting you in because the situation it’s not entirely your fault. But don’t bother me with unnecessary mathers. I hate small talk, don’t try that either. I stream every weekday during the afternoons and nights, so don’t make loud noises or talk.”, he added and entered the room, closing the door behind him.

Kim Dokja felt like Yoo Joonghyuk wanted to say ‘Live in this house as if you're a ghost.’ but in a more educated way, even though that still sounded rude with the tone of voice that the man used.

‘System, I have a question.’, he asked.

[Hello, Kim Dokja! What is your question?]

‘If I move to another house, will I fail the task?’

[Yes, you will. It’s only valid for the house that you’re currently living ଘ( ˊ ᵕ ˋ )ଓ]

‘...That doesn’t make any sense.’, he complained, more to himself than to anyone or anything else. But the system still replied.

[Please follow the given instructions clearly, Kim Dokja. Don’t you wanna live a happy and fulfilling life?]

‘Do I?’, Kim Dokja sighed and looked around his new home. He should start unpacking his stuff, which wasn’t much. Everything that he owned fit in the two suitcases that he brought. Then it occurred to him that this apartment has two bedrooms, one was certainly Yoo Joonghyuk’s, and the other…

He looked at the room that his new roommate just entered and didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Where should he sleep then? On the couch???

Remembering the warning that Yoo Joonghyuk gave him the man was certainly streaming now, which would probably take a few hours to finish, and not wishing to test the limits of his luck, Kim Dokja chose to not bother the other man with his inquiries of where he would be sleeping from today on.

He sat on the couch (that was very comfortable, he noted) and picked up his phone to read some random webnovel while waiting for the night to come. He read for about two hours until his stomach reminded him that he hasn’t eaten anything since the ice-cream from earlier, forcing him to get up and find something to eat, or rather, buy something in the convenience store nearby.

When Kim Dokja got back, he found that Yoo Joonghyuk was out of his room, probably finished his stream earlier, and was cooking something in the small kitchen. The man only looked over his shoulder, and proceeded to ignore him, giving full attention to the ingredients inside the pan.

“You’re done streaming for today?”, Kim Dokja tentatively asked as he sat on the table and started to eat his kimbap. The sound of spoon scraping and mixing inside the pan was the only answer he received. What’s the problem with that man?

A few minutes later, Yoo Joonghyuk seemed to have finished his cooking, putting a portion of fried rice on a plate. It smelled really good, and Kim Dokja felt like his convenience store kimbap suddenly tasted like plastic.

“Why are you eating trash food?”, the sudden voice made Kim Dokja jolt in his chair, and he looked up.

“Who’s eating trash, bastard? This is also food.”, he replied and kept eating. The man even despised his food?  Kim Dokja kept wondering where he would find happiness living with such a person as his roommate.

“Convenience food is not good for one’s health. It’s trash food.”, Yoo Joonghyuk said and picked up another plate from the cupboard, filling it with food and rudely placing it in front of a dumbstruck Kim Dokja. “Eat.”, the man added and sat down on the opposite side of the table to eat.

“Thanks…”, Kim Dokja said after recovering from the shock and tasted the food. He had to contain himself from moaning out loud, the food was divine! He never ate a fried rice that was so rich in flavour, he could eat just this for the rest of his life and would be satisfied. Maybe he should praise the cook, even if Yoo Joonghyuk has been acting so antisocial towards him for no reason. “Your cooking skills are really good, Yoo Joonghyuk.”

“I know”, the other man scoffed and kept eating his own food.

Why did he even tried? Kim Dokja wished that the man choked on his rice.

“Arrogant bastard.”, he whispered.

“What?”

“Did I say something?”, Kim Dokja looked innocently at Yoo Joonghyuk, who was staring at him with a pair of eyes that alerted violence.

“When you finish eating, please wash your plate and don’t break anything.” , Yoo Joonghyuk got up, walking to the kitchen’s sink.

“Hey, am I a child? You don’t need to tell me that.”, Kim Dokja followed behind Yoo Joonghyuk and waited by the side. “By the way, where am I sleeping tonight? I noticed that the second bedroom of this apartment is being used as your streaming office. Don’t tell me I have to sleep on the couch, that would be really unfair considering that I pay the same amount of rent as you.”

“Where else would you sleep, then? My bed?”, Yoo Joonghyuk asked and looked at him, drying his hands on a dishcloth. “I’m not that easy.”

Did he just made a joke??? Kim Dokja was dumbstruck by that man for the second time in less than an hour.

“Ew, why would I even wish that. And you better think of a way to arrange a room for me, I won’t be residing in the living room.” Kim Dokja said and pushed that mountain of man that he couldn’t understand to the side, proceeding to wash his dishes.

Finishing his task, he walked to the couch and made himself comfortable, picking up the phone to read a bit more. He should be looking for job opportunities and sending curriculums, but today he was too mentally exhausted to worry about his current unemployed situation. At least he had a house now, so it was one less thing to be worried about, even if it was a shared apartment with someone who apparently hated him.

A few minutes later he heard some loud noises interrupting his moment of peace and quiet. Sounded like furniture being pushed around. He got up and went looking for the source of the noise and found that it came from Yoo Jonghyuk’s streaming room.

“What are you doing? The neighbors will complain about all this noise.”, Kim Dokja said, leaning against the room’s doorway. The room was quite spacious, and Yoo Joonghyuk’s streaming setup occupied only half of the space. In the other half, there was an empty space. Even though Kim Dokja hasn't seen Yoo Joonghyul’s bedroom yet, judging from the disposition of the rooms in the apartment, this seemed to be the bigger bedroom.

“Don’t you want a bedroom? Stop lazing around and help me move the setup table to my bedroom.”, Yoo Joonghyuk responded and looked ugly at Kim Dokja. “Or sleep on the couch.”

Kim Dokja finally sighed and went in to help, though his strength to push the heavy table was embarrassingly lacking.

“Why don’t you take things off the table first? It’s too heavy.”, he suggested

“Too much work.”, Yoo Joonghyuk responded.

After pushing the table all the way to the door, they realized another problem: the table wouldn't pass through the door without dismantling it.

Kim Dokja: …

Yoo Joonghyuk: …

“Why don’t we just put a mattress there for now?”, Kim Dokja suggested, pointing towards the side of the room that was empty. “I can sleep on it for a while, I’m not that picky, you know.”

“You, sleeping in my streaming office?”, the other man seemed to find that suggestion very unwelcoming, his face holding an expression of dissatisfaction.

Kim Dokja looked at him, annoyed by the stubbornness. Why couldn’t the other man be more lenient in this situation? It wasn’t like Kim Dokja was comfortable being there either, but they would have to find a way to make this cohabitation situation work somehow, and if Yoo Joonghyuk continued to refuse every suggestion that Kim Dokja offered, it would only make things more difficult than it already was.

“What, do you have a better idea?”, Kim Dokja asked, his voice carrying a somewhat angry tone to it. He just wished to sleep, his body and mind was exhausted.

“You can take my bedroom. I will sleep here.”, the man decided, pushing his setup table back to its original place and fixing some of the cables that got a bit tangled. “I will change the bed clothing for you, you can wait wherever until I’m done.”, he finished and without a second thought, walked towards his now ex-bedroom, leaving Kim Dokja alone in the room, the man in a contemplative state. He thought the master bedroom would be off-limits, but now it seemed the other man was more comfortable giving up on it than letting a stranger sleep in a corner of his (apparently) very beloved streaming room. Not that Kim Dokja would say anything against the deal, who would rather sleep on a mattress on the floor than on a comfy bed? Not him, in his currently exhausted state.

A couple of minutes later, Yoo Joonghyuk was back, pushing through the door a single-sized mattress (that he apparently had on spare somewhere inside his bedroom, Kim Dokja imagined), a pillow below one of his arms. The man was somewhat surprised that Kim Dokja was still standing in his streaming room, waiting very awkwardly against a wall and lost in thoughts.

“Why are you still here? The bedroom is ready.”, Yoo Joonghyuk rudely said, meaning ‘Scram” on Kim Dokja mind, as he snapped of his thoughts and finally moved out of the room to pick his belongings on the corridor and follow to his new bedroom

He quickly pushed his suitcases inside the room, and looked around. The decoration was very simple and bleak, impersonal, like an inexpensive hotel bedroom. A closet in one corner, a big fluffy white bedroom in the middle of the room and one small table on the side, some decorative books stacked there and a simple lamp light. On the walls, hang a few geometric paintings, probably those that one would buy in a decoration section of a big store for a cheap price. Somehow Kim Dokja found it fitting with the owner, Yoo Jonghyuk didn’t seem to be the type of guy that would care much for house decor and aesthetics. Too tired to look around for any other second, he unpacked some fresh clothes and personal belongings, heading towards the bathroom to have a bath, brush his teeth and then, sleep, finally. Finally!

And so he did, falling over the big bed that was so soft it felt like he was swimming on clouds, and not more than a few seconds later, Kim Dokja fell asleep like a dead man, soundlessly, until the next morning.
