Chapter 1: This place is a mad house.
Summary:
I write a very self indulgent fic and decided in my screw brain to make Ojiro the main character. I’m also stuck in a room with little kids, so that’s how this happened.
Notes:
I’m a bad speller and I’m certainly not amazing when it comes to writing, enjoy!

Chapter Text
Ojiro thought he was ready to go to U.A. I mean sure the school was run by a rat, and yeah, that’s funky. But he doesn’t want to be quirkiest and that was it (wasn’t there a scandal about a hobo teaching there?) but U.A. was the best school in the district!
It was his dream school. Then he met him. No it wasn’t Bakugo, though that guy is unhinged. Nope, it was that scary green kid- Midoriya? It was when they did the quirk apprehension tests…
When he went into the locker room, he got caught up in a conversation with Kaminari. “Okay, so I was scrolling through memes at 3 am and that’s when I saw it! An otamatone!” “A what?” “A otamatone! It’s a weird little eighth note that makes sounds like WAH WAH WAAAAH.”
Kaminari was weird. But he was chill and had asked to pet his tail instead of just grabbing it. People never really ask to pet his tail, they just do. So it was a pleasant change and he would gladly listen to his obsessions.
Bakugo didn’t seem to appreciate the yelling though. “SHUT UP. PUT A SOCK IN IT.” Ojiro just looked at him, “Dude really just couldn’t handle a little noise…” Kaminari said. “He’s been like this ever since we’ve arrived…” Ojiro says in reply, glad that someone at least said something. What an asshole.
When they go outside, everything seemed normal. Then Aizawa shocked them all. “Whoever gets in last place is expelled.”
WHAT.
“Okay that’s a little much.” “That can’t be true” “Is sensei crazy?” “I’m gonna fail…” Kaminari said in the end. Ojiro turned to him. “You got this, we just need to try our best.” Kaminari shook his head, “Do you think it’s too late to go to Class 1B?” Ojiro nodded. “Definitely. This school is crazy anyway. We’ll just need to hope they are crazy enough not to expel us.”
‘We didn’t really need to worry about it.’ Ojiro realized. They hadn’t gotten really high scores, but nothing was so bad they would need to drop out and work at McDonalds to survive. The green haired kid, Midoriya, had gotten last every single time.
“How is this guy so bad?” Kaminari said. Ojiro elbowed him in the side, “Dude, you can’t say stuff like that.” Kaminari paled. “Wait, I said that out loud? Damn it.” Kaminari was weird. “Line up for our final test, distance throw.”
As Ojiro and Kaminari did that, the screamy blond dude threw the ball yelling die. The green dude stiffened up and Kaminari and Ojiro looked at each other. ‘Our class is weird is what they seemed to communicate through their eyes. (Actually Kaminari was trying to say something else, but it doesn’t really matter.)
“Okay, Midoriya it’s your turn.” Midoriya started to throw the ball and then it just fell. “He really sucks though.” Kaminari mumbled. “Shut it.” Ojiro responded.
“What?” Midoriya said as he watched the ball fall. “ I erased your quirk. You’re just a liability on the field if you break yourself every time you use your quirk.”
“Break himself?” Ojiro asked Kaminari in confusion. “I did hear a rumor that there was this guy who broke his bones in the entrance exam.” Ojiro stared at him blankly. “Sooo there was a guy who broke his bones in the entrance exam and he still go in!”
“If you to are done chatting I can continue what I was saying.” Aizawa said, staring coldly at them. “Yes sensei.” They said in unison. Aizawa turned his icy glare to Midoriya again. “Use your quirk without breaking your arm.”
It was brutal to watch. Midoriya threw his ball and it went far. Like really far. Buuut it also completely crushed his finger. Like powder. AND FREAKING MIDORIYA JUST TURNED AROUND AND SAID, “I’m still standing sensei.” And Sensei just smiled. Like, good job for breaking your finger instead of your arm!!!
That’s when the Screamy Blonde Bomb went off “DEKUUU! When did you get a quark!!!????”
Then he proceeded to attack. The guy was relentless. Ojiro would give him that. He was screaming and trying to explode Midoriya. He was even trying when Aizawa captured him in his scarf.
“Hardcore.” Kaminari mumbled. “No.” Ojiro mumbled back.
“Where did you get a Quark?!?! You litt-“ Bakugo was never able to finish his sentence. “Où? J'aime le fromage!” Everyone turned to the Guy who said it. “What?” Said Mina. “Well, tu dit, ‘Quark’ et Quark is a style of cottage cheese, rather like French blanc cheese.” The French? Said in reply.
“That’s not why we were confused.” Sero said. “C’est la vie.” Said the supposed French. “Actually a Quark is the building blocks of atoms and protons.” Mineta replied absentmindedly. Everybody turned to the grape and stared hard. “What? It was in the U.A. Entrance exam…” the boy promptly burst into tears. Everybody kept staring
Aizawa should feel lost. A boy was crying. Another one had a broken finger. One was about to attack the one with a broken finger. Surely this can’t be okay?
“Stop crying Mineta. The rest of you go inside and get ready for your next period.” Aizawa said, “Midoriya, go to the nurse.” He then proceeded to walk away.
“Uhhhhhhh.” Kaminari said. He then started to short circuit. Ojiro felt the same. He wrapped his tail around Kaminari and went to the locker rooms.
“Bro, I can’t believe that happened! Sensei is crazy!” Sero said. “I know! But let’s talk about something else, what was that Midoriya?” Midoriya turned to look at them. “Oh, if I use my quirk in my arm it breaks.” He says causally.
“Are you okay dude?” Kaminari said once he was done short circuiting. “Midoriya looked at Kaminari. “Yeah, that’s just what happens.” “How does it work?” “Well.” Midoriya says. “I just put my quirk in my arms and punch.”
Ojiro decided to step in. “Why don’t you just spread it around your entire body? Wouldn’t that be more effective? All of your body being powered instead of just your arms?”
Midoriya stared at him. “Uhh, never mind, don’t worry about it.” Ojiro internally cringed, but Midoriya didn’t say it was stupid. Instead he lit up and smiled widely. “Like a microwave!” You know what? He could just never talk to Midoriya again. “That’s so smart Ojiro!”
Ojiro just stared. Forget about Kaminari being weird. Midoriya was a different level of twisted.
Notes:
Looking back on this, it was meant to be a one shot, but the malnourished writer in my brain decided to write more.
Chapter 2: Very… Cold of you.
Summary:
Ojiro meets a girl (Not in a kissy book way) and fights to protect very important papier-mâché
Notes:
So… I got bored and continued to be stuck in a lot of rooms with little kids soooo enjoy? The format got a little weird when I used copy and paste form the google doc… Also the last chapter was made in 15 minutes so consistency will very on chapters. It’s like going to a bad restaurant and trying to guess if they’ll give you your steak raw or well done.

Chapter Text
The results of the battle training the next day was interesting to say the least. When All Might arrived and revealed that he was the teacher, that caused a lot of chaos. “I can’t believe All Might is our teacher!” Kaminari whispered loudly to Ojiro. Ojiro could only nod in shocked response.
“What do you think we’ll be doing?” Said Kaminari. “I don’t know, but this is pretty cool.” Ojiro responded.
He regretted his word choice later, but he didn’t see Todoroki’s eyes sparkle in the background.
Changing into his costume? He didn’t want to call it a costume, but it is what it is. Anyway changing into his costume was pretty anticlimactic compared to everyone else’s, but he liked it. It showed his martial arts skills and it rather fit his scheme.
“Is that it?” Kaminari asked. “Uhhh, yeah? Is there something wrong..?” He responded. “It’s just kinda… bland?”
He looked Kaminari up and down. He was just wearing a jacket and a t-shirt. So he voiced his thoughts.
“Why is mine bad? You're just wearing a jacket and t-shirt.”
Oh shoot. Wrong move, going to need to move to a different school, Shiketsu is a good school? It is right? No matter what Nezdu said.
“Dang, harsh.” Kaminari smiled at him. “Remind me never to critique your clothes.” “Uhh.” “Relax, no hard feelings.”
So that went better than expected. Oh shoot, he never saw everyone’s costumes!
Okay, why is his being criticized? Mineta was wearing a diaper.
“Ojiro, you’re not going to get any girls that way.” The said diaper wearing kid said.
“I don’t think that’s the point…” “Well why are you going to be a hero then?”
He sighed. “It’s kinda simple, but I want to prove that people with straight forward simple quirks can make it as heroes too. Hard work can pay off.” He smiled. “It’s important to recognize that.”
“…”
“Did I do something wrong?” Ojiro said, blinking. “No, you’re just so… Wholesome.” Mineta said. He then proceeded to walk away, probably to talk about costumes again.
When they got out. The girl’s costumes were… interesting. Hagakure wasn’t naked… right? She could move her quirk to clothing too? Right? For the sake of his mind and her dignity, let’s hope she wasn’t.
“All HEROES ARE LOOKING SO SPRY IN YOUR NEW FOUND COSTUMES! LET'S GET A MOVE ON!” All Might exclaimed. “Isn’t he just the coolest!” Kaminari whispered, again rather loudly.
(Again, for the second time, Todoroki’s eyes sparkled. “Oh! Mon ami! C'est quoi? What do you have on your mind?”)
“ALRIGHT CLASS, WE’RE DOING A SIMPLE VILLAINS VS. HEROES CHALLENGE! GET WITH YOUR ASSIGNED PARTNERS!”
Eventually, he heard his name. “HAGAKURE AND OJIRO! VILLIANS!”
So it was him and Hagakure. That’s not such a bad matchup! Annnnndddd they were the villains. Okay, that’s not bad either. Just put the bombs somewhere in a good hiding place, there’s a labyrinth, and then there’s the blank room…
“AND TODOROKI AND SHOJI AS HEROES!”
Okay, so they had a brute force and a recon person. So Hagakure might struggle, and his tail may not out last Shoji's arms.
“Hey Ojiro! I’m excited we can be partners! I’ll admit, it may not be the best matchup, but we can make it work!” She said, her voice sounding like it was a bit too close for his personal space bubble.
“Y-Yeah, we can make it work, I could defend the bomb, while you do recon and try not to get caught by Shoji.” He said, scratching his cheek. ‘She’s a little close for comfort.’
“Righty-O! That sounds like a plan! I am worried about Todoroki, he’s a threat. He’s got ice, plus he’s a recommended student.” She responded.
“Are you guys going to keep talking, we’re trying to watch the other matches. This behavior isn’t very upcoming for U.A students!” Iida exclaimed.
“Sorry boss!” Hagakure said and turned back to him. “We’ll just need to try hard.” She said in a lower tone of voice. Iida just looked like he was short circuiting. It didn’t make anything better when he caught Kamari’s eye and he started winking at him.
‘Ooo~ already making moves, I see.’ He seemed to say. ‘No. We’re just talking about strategies. Stop, it’s just strategies. STOP.’ He communicated back with his eyes. Or maybe he just was staring hard and looked crazy.
As they made their way up into the building, he was unfortunately proven wrong about Hagakure’s outfit.
“How about we put it on the third floor, they’ll comb their way up and possibly from the top, so I think it’ll be a good strategy.” He said while putting the bomb down. He looked at where he assumed Hagakure was and was greeted by her yelling at him.
“Don’t look at me while I’m naked!” She said, while just removing her gloves and shoes. “Sorry! I really didn’t mean to Hagakure!” He responded in worry, he didn’t want to be a total pervert.
“Chill, I’m kidding. I know I’m invisible. Though it is kinda weird that the Support team just sent gloves and boots…” she said. He sighed in relief. “ Anyway, the match is about to start so I better get to recon.” She said.
“HEROES AND VILLAINS, THE MATCH IS STARTING.”
“Ready?” “Ready.” The match was about to begin.
The building then promptly froze over. He could see his breath. “What the heck… I knew Todoroki was strong, but not that strong.” He murmured. “It’s so cold in here!” Hagakure exclaimed.
Then they heard a deadpan voice greet them. “…Ice to meet you.” Were the first words they heard when Todoroki stepped into the room. “I wouldn’t move if I were you. We wouldn’t want the souls of your feet to be ripped off.”
He started walking towards the bomb, but then bumped into Hagakure. “Todoroki…” That’s all the warning he got before she started smacking him. “THAT'S SO RUDE, WE WANTED A FAIR GAME! BUT NOOOO, YOU HAD TO FREEZE THE BUILDING!”
When she stopped, he just looked like a fairly pissed off stray cat. He soon got his composure though.
“Would you say that’s very… cold of me?”
Ojiro just sighed. “Just touch the bomb, Todoroki.” Todoroki looked at him. “How very… cold of you.” Ojiro just sighed again. “You already used that pun, it wasn’t funny then, it’s not funny now.” “But you already sighed once. Why can’t I use a pun more than once?”
Ojiro just facepalmed. “If you used it before you can’t use it again. It doesn’t work like that.” Todoroki just blinked at him. “I don’t understand.” “If you used the pun once, it doesn’t have the same effect if you just repeat it over and over.”
“JUST HURRY UP AND TOUCH THE BOMB! ITS FREEZING AND I’M NOT WEARING CLOTHES.” Hagakure said in frustration. “Oh, right.” Said Todoroki as he made his walk towards the bomb and touched it.
“HEROES WIN?”
As they made their way back to the group, nobody seemed happy. Shoji for being ignored for a good minute, Hagakure and him for not doing anything and Todoroki for… being told his puns went stale like a day old donut.
“ALRIGHT, WHO WAS THE MVP OF THE MATCH?”
“Well, Ojiro and Hagakure had a good strategy, they didn’t account for being trapped. Todoroki had a good plan, but got distracted by… I actually don’t know what they were talking about, but the point still stands. I would say the MVP of the match was Shoji for listening to his partner and seemed ready to head in as backup.” Said Yaoyorozu.
“VERY WISELY PUT YOUNG YAOYOROZU! I WOULD ALSO SAY NOT TO FREEZE THE BUILDING, YOU DON'T ALWAYS KNOW THE QUIRKS OF YOUR ENEMY.” Said All Might.
‘Well, there’s always a next time.’ Ojiro thought hopefully as he walked towards Kaminari. “That kinda sucked, I didn’t feel I did much.” He said to his friend. “Well, you and that Hagakure chick seemed like you were going places, if you catch my drift.” Kaminari said while winking at him.
“No.” Ojiro said, rubbing his face like an exasperated parent. “You were really hitting off!” Kaminari said, leaning on him. “Let’s be real here, we just did a class exercise, nothing exciting happened.” “Aww, don’t be a killjoy.” “Let’s just watch the next match.”
“HEROES: URARAKA AND MIDORIYA. VILLIANS: BAKUGO AND IIDA! NEXT MATCH, BEGIN!”
Notes:
So, I don’t write, I’m actually more of a reader. I’ll update when I get stuck in another room. Or eventually. No clear posting schedule. Plus I need to prepare for concerts. Uhhh bye. *Procceds to chuck chapter at nonexistent readers and runs back to hide in the woods.*
Chapter 3: In which, All Might, Greatest hero, isn’t the greatest teacher

Chapter Text
At first the match seemed to go off on a pretty interesting start. Midoriya and Uraraka had split, they looked like they knew what they were doing. Bakugo and Iida seemed to be a little less cooperative. Bakugo took off at the first chance. It seemed simple enough.
“This seems pretty solid, but it’s a shame we don’t have audio. It would’ve been nice to hear what’s going on.” Ojiro said, turning to Kaminari. “Yeah, but Bakugo seems a little screamy. I don’t want to hear that.” He responded.
“Point there. I don’t think anyone does.” Ojiro said, scratching his neck. He watched Bakugo find Midoriya and they seemed to be having a conversation. Midoriya yelled a few things and Bakugo yelled back.
They fought for a bit, Midoriya countered the first punch and judo flipped Bakugo. He yelled a bit more and he started sparking and ran. Admittedly a bit stiffly, but he was fast. Bakugo started flying after him. They farted around that floor. Not much happened, but Bakugo had a smirk on his face like he was planning something.
It’s always been a good motto that Ojiro had for himself. Never speak too badly about people, but say your honest opinion. It was just, Bakugo seemed like he worked hard to get here, everyone did. He was just unpleasant to be around. Maybe he would just avoid him.
He sighed and shifted his focus. What was Uraraka doing so far? Aaannnddd not very well. Uraraka seemed to be fairing worse against Iida. She had laughed and revealed herself. A bad move, but this was just a battle exercise.
Iida had made the right decision and removed all the objects in the room. Uraraka’s quirk would be rendered useless on any objects other than herself. Based on the fact that she looked ready to jump, that was probably her course of action.
She used her quirk and jumped, while Iida sped away with the bomb. Even if it wasn’t intentional on Bakugos part to leave Iida with the bomb, it was a clever move. Uraraka landed on nothing, lest she be stuck floating around. It was going to be a long struggle for her.
Fortunately, it wasn’t for naught. He probably shouldn’t have removed his focus from Bakugo and Midoriya. The wall burst open, and Midoriya jumped through, still unable to be caught by Bakugo, who jumped after him. Now, and maybe a bad move on Midoriya's part, it was a four on four match.
Iida and Uraraka stopped their loop and stared at Midoriya and Bakugo. Midoriya by the looks of it hadn’t realized where Uraraka was, a failed communication on both their parts. Iida and Bakugo hadn’t done any better as the latter had pushed Iida to the side.
Wrong move. Iida instead of keeping his goal on track had turned to lecturing Bakugo. Who didn’t care. Midoriya, who Bakugo was still chasing was bouncing around the room trying to get to the exit, which Bakugo realized was blocking him in.
Uraraka saw her chance and ran towards the bomb. Iida too caught up in lecturing Bakugo hadn’t noticed. She was just getting close, when she slipped, due to a puddle that Todoroki’s melted ice had caused. She was getting up when the timer ran out on the match.
“VILLAINS WIN!”
Those words did nothing to the mess that was currently run on the screen. It really just poked the hornet nest with a stick. Bakugo started yelling and let out some angry blasts towards the bomb, which destroyed it while Iida started lecturing him on that. Midoriya had shrunken in on himself and Uraraka looked confused. All Might looked pained while watching this on screen.
“YOUNG STUDENTS, PLEASE WAIT HERE WHILE I BREAK IT UP.” All might then promptly left the room.
Whispers broke out through the room. Varieties of ‘what do you think happened?’ ‘Is All Might okay?’ ‘Do you think we’ll be able to keep going?’ Ojiro didn’t know what to think. He soon didn’t need to.
Among all the chaos some voices silenced everyone. “I think we’ll be fine. As long as we keep calm. Kero.” Asui said as she took control of the chaos. She looked around. “We can still most likely talk, but All Might will come back to resolve the situation. Kero.” Everyone seemed to agree and while they got louder, it was more controlled.
He could catch some conversations around the room. He couldn’t blame them for speculating on what happened. He was the closest to the redhead- Kirishima? A pink girl- Ashido? And good old (not really old considering they just met.) trusty Kaminari.
“That Bakugo dude wasn’t very friendly.” Ashido said. “Yeah, he’s not very manly for blowing up the bomb.” Kirishma responded. Kaminari shrugged. “I think that he’s a pretty good fighter”
“He’s not very nice from what I’ve seen, and yes while he seems good at fighting, I don’t feel it’s right to talk about him behind his back.”
And he said that out loud. Oops.
Kirishima nodded. “You got a point there. It’s a bit rude to talk about somebody behind their back. Even if they’re rude.” Ashido sighed. “Well if he’s nice I’ll stop, but he just seems like an asshole. What do you think is taking All Might this long anyway?” She says.
“Most likely taking anyone to the nurse. Though the only thing that got hurt was the bomb.” Ojiro shrugged. “It’s kinda a shame that the feed was cut out though.” The conversation was running dry now after they got their thoughts out. He shifted his tail nervously. He didn’t need to worry, Asui’s voice rang clear again. “Since All Might isn’t coming back, we might as well head back to class. Kero.”
So, following Asui’s lead, we left the training grounds. “So, what now? I don’t remember how to get back…” Hagakure said awkwardly. Kaminari shrugged, “We just go back the same way we came.” Hagakure turned (?) towards him and lightly punched him on the arm. “I know that doofus. But how do we get back in? The doors locked one way. Or at least I think. That’s how it was at my old school.”
Everyone turned towards each other. Everyone seemed clueless. Yaoyorozu stepped forwards, smiling. “I don’t believe we need to worry about that. I’ve checked the U.A handbook and it says that the student cards should let us back into facilities should we be locked out. We’ll just need to tap our card on the check and enter. “Thanks Yaoyorozu. We don’t need to push. One of us can hold the door open and we’ll close it up after.”
Ojiro got into a line after everyone. As they went in, Mineta joined the line again. He heard Kaminari wait for Mineta. “Hey, why’d you volunteer to hold the door open? You seemed like you were freaking out.” Kaminari said in a quiet voice. The shorter boy looked at Kaminari. “Well, ladies don’t like the cowardly, if I want a lady to love me, I have to be as brave and nice as possible. Plus! They’ll think I’m a nice guy.” Mineta said. Kaminari stared, “Why don’t you just talk to them?” Mineta shivered at those words. “I tried hitting on this lovely blond. Girls are scary. Plus, I’m so short that they’ll never want me.” Kaminari gave him another look. Then scoffed. “You are pretty short.” Mineta put on an offended look. Or maybe he was just offended. “You weren’t meant to agree with me!”
Ojiro focused his attention in front of him. He saw Tokoyami staring at him. He was a bit shocked, but Kaminari and Mineta didn’t notice him watching, it made sense that he didn’t notice someone staring at him. “Ahh, so you also enjoy the whispers of the dark.” Tokyami said. “I just thought it was an interesting conversation…” He trailed off.
Tokoyami nodded, “It is hard to decipher the whispers of forgotten beasts. Much less to change fate when words are in stone.” Ojiro didn’t really know how to react to that. “Uhh, yeah, conversations are hard. It’s only been. Few days, everyone knows each other…” Ojiro responded, assuming that’s what Tokoyami meant. “While some find allies fast and true, others have a bit of time to test the waters of desire. I myself find that while the way of waiting will arise true allies, both ways are hard and steadfast.”
Ojiro agreed absentmindedly, even though Tokoyami spoke in riddles, it was actually a simple conversation. He was rather a strange one, but he was very helpful. Suddenly, Asu stopped. “And we’re here. We’re back in the classroom. Kero.” She said turning to them. Kirishima spoke up, bringing an issue to light that they forgot. “Thanks Asui.” He began. “Call me Tsu. Kero” She interrupted.”Uhh, Thanks Tsu, but shouldn’t we change back into the uniform?” Kirishima said, rubbing his neck awkwardly. “Oh. Yes, we should hurry to change before the bell rings. Kero.” She calls out, rushing back to the changing rooms.
Everyone quickly ran after her.
Later at home, as he helped set the table for dinner, when his mom asked how U.A. was, he coudn’t find an answer. Most people seemed friendly, but they were different kinds of friendly. The teachers were nice- but strange, but when he couldn’t think of a simple fast word for his class, as he could do for the classes prior, his mom just said. “You must pay attention to them closely if you don’t just blurt out your first opinion in one word.” She smiled at him. “You must be really maturing if your starting to do that.” He bristled slightly at those words. She noticed him doing that. “I’m not trying to be rude, its just one of the ways you see the world.”
Maybe that was something to think about later. He doesn’t do that, right?
Notes:
Uhh, no hate against Bakugo. I just don’t know to write him. He’ll still get friends?? Also I’m okay at making fight scenes and so I just blew up the bomb??? I’m absolutely making this up as I go. I was setting up plot points? Also where did All Might go?

Chapter Text
Reporters. Honestly, what people do to get scraps of information. Ojiro shuddered. Reporters were the worst, always taking a scrap of a fact and twisting it to something greater. He thought back to his conversation with his mom, in a way she suggested that he was the same as the reporters. Taking a basic look and only seeing that.
He didn’t do that though, it wasn’t a basic look if that was always true. He could be wrong… no matter, he had a bigger problem to face. Getting past the newshounds. He looked forward, watching and listening to people’s responses to see how to get through. He didn’t want to be late, Sensei was… Scary. Who threatens to expel their student on the first day of school?
As he walked through, a reporter pulled him aside. “What’s it like being taught by All Might?” Then they blinked at him, taking in his appearance. “Hmmm, never mind.” The other reporters, seeing him get rejected by the first one, and his basic appearance, decided to mess with the other students trying to get in.
“Rejected by the masses, purely based on unornamented appearances. As was I. They struggled to understand the mother tongue of the darkness.” Tokoyami said as he saw Ojiro walk through the crowds with no trouble.
“I’d rather just make it to class on time then get pulled aside. Tokoyami nodded, “Words of wisdom for those trapped at sea.” Ojiro just looked at him. “So they couldn’t understand you?” Tokoyami looked away. “While I have the high knowledge of the birds, they speak in tongues.”
“That’s rather a…” self absorbed thing to say.“Interesting thing to say.” Ojiro said as they stepped into the classroom. Tokoyami nodded and walked to his seat. Ojiro did the same, as the rest of his class was already in conversation. He didn’t see Kaminari anywhere. He could try talking to someone else? Kirishima perhaps? He made his decision.
He rose from his seat and looked for Kirishima. There he was! As he was walking to Kirishima, he got side tracked as Midoriya came up to him. “Ojiro, can I ask you something?” Ojiro looked at him. He was going to talk to Kirishima, but Midoriya was nice too. “Sure, what the matter?” Midoriya wrung his hands. “Well, what happened when Kacchan blew up the bomb?”
Kacchan? Who was Kacchan? Did he mean Bakugo? So he decided to voice his thoughts. “Midoriya? Excuse me for asking, but who is Kacchan?” Midoriya blinked at that and smiled nervously. “Well, I call Bakugo, Kacchan.” Ojiro just nodded.
“I guess, when All Might left us, we didn’t know what to do. Asui took control-“ across the room Asui looked up and stared. “Tsu.” She corrected, as everyone around her looked confused) “and we ended up going back inside to get to class.” Midoriya looked confused. “Wait, Aizawa-Sensei didn’t come back for you?”
Was Sensei meant to come back? U.A. was… weird. Ojiro just stared. “Why would Sensei come back? All Might was teaching the lesson?” Midoriya just rubbed his arm nervously, “All Might said that he needed to attend to something else and he would send Sensei back. Mostlikeyhistimelimitranout.” He responded, mumbling the last part quickly. Ojiro, decided to be polite, didn’t question him on the mumbled part.
“Maybe communications got mixed up? That happens sometimes?” Ojiro commented. Midoriya nodded, “That would make a lot of sense. By the way, I was wondering-“ Ojiro didn’t get to hear what Midoriya was wondering, as Sensei wiggled into the room like he had no limbs and proceeded to stare at them. It worked extremely well, as the entire class quieted down and were in their seats immediately.
“Good. You all know how to be quiet.” He said, still on the floor. “Today you will all pick class president. I don’t care what happens.” He then curled into a ball and rolled away. Everyone stared. “I feel we shouldn’t be surprised by sensei anymore.” Mina piped up.
“So who’s going to be the class president?” Sero said. “I personally think I’m well suited to the job.” Iida shot out of his seat like he was electrocuted. “We don’t know each other well enough to decide! We should do a vote.” “We all know you want the position. It really shows.” Said Hakugure. Then, she shocked the class. “I think Tsu would be the best for the job! She took control when we didn’t know what to do!” Everyone nodded, but Iida seemed a bit put out.
“I’m flattered, Kero. I would also suggest Yaoyorozu for my vice, she knew the rules well.” Iida, the power hungry hawk, swooped in at the chance. “If we’re electing different positions-“ Mineta, seeing his chance to get in good, interrupted him. “I think we’re good with just these positions.” Iida looked defeated and Tsu smiled, “Thanks Mineta.” Mineta soaked up the compliment, like it was a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.
Soon after clearing it all up, the bell rang. It was lunch. As Ojiro walked into the lunchroom, he looked around nervously. Shifting his tail, he looked for Kaminari, he was good and easy to talk to. There he was! Wait, never mind. He’s talking to Kirishima and… Sero? As he stood there frozen on the spot, Tokoyami tapped him on the shoulder. “As the fish come and go, spots open up.” Jiro, who was standing next to Tokoyami, rolled her eyes. “He’s saying you can sit with us.”
Well. That cleared up the problem. So Ojiro followed Jiro and Tokoyami to a table. “So, I get your chūnibyō design for your costume, Tokoyami. I’m curious about you though Ojiro? What do you do? Your costume got me interested?” Jiro asked. Ojiro blinked, “I’m into martial arts, so I decided to base it off of that.” Jiro nodded, “That’s cool. It’s always good to have a hobby outside of heroes.” Tokoyami looked up. “As the echoes of your heart, do you also dive into other worlds?” Jiro nodded again, “Yeah, I’m into music. I also like singing…” she said, trailing off at the last part.
Huh. Ojiro didn’t really listen to music, as he couldn’t find anything good, he should ask Jiro some of her music. He just uses line music, but he could try other things. Tokoyami spoke up, “I rather like Survive Said the Prophet.” Jiro nodded, “I can see you liking that. Fits with your theme.” They both turned towards Ojiro. “I don’t listen to music, but I’ll try it out if you have recommendations.” “Then, if the calling of shadows and sound is not for you. What is the path?”
Ojiro paused a bit, he volunteered, but volunteering more just giving back to the community. “Calligraphy, it’s rather relaxing and beautiful.” Was what popped out of his mouth. It was what he did in his free time, so he wasn’t lying. He didn’t talk about it much, so it caught him off guard. “That’s a good one. I’ve thought about picking it up every once and a while, but I’ve always been busy with karaoke.” Ojiro rubbed his tail absentmindedly, “I’ve always been tempted, but I’ve never gone to karaoke.” Jiro laughed, “We’re rather the opposite about hobbies.” She turned to Tokoyami. “What about you?”
Tokoyami was about to say, but they never did find out. Suddenly, they started hearing chimes, the start of the alarms.
“ATTENTION, INTRUDERS ON CAMPUS, PLEASE EVACUATE AND LEAVE.”
The room was plunged into chaos. People going left and right, completely forgetting what to do and where to go. Ojiro quickly looked for an exit, but all he saw was people. That’s when he saw Asui, he was going to try and reach her, but she actually had it covered. She seemed to have pulled Mineta aside and was talking to him. He nodded and started scaling the wall with his balls… and crying? Ojiro looked closer. He was definitely crying. “E-Everyone! It’s just the press, please calm down!” He said between sobs.
Everyone did stop, as there was a crying child on the ceiling yelling at them. “WHAT? SPEAK UP!” yelled a kid. Mineta scrunched up his face. “I SAID IT'S JUST THE PRESS, NO NEED TO WORRY!” The crowd started walking back to their seats, grumbling. “Can’t believe it’s just the press, boring.” “At least it wasn’t anything bad.” And most notably, “Who’s the toddler?” Ojiro sighed. Lunch was admittedly dulled after all that.

Shigaraki was having a horrible, awful, no good day. Sensei was a drag, pulling him away from his gaming marathon. (It was always a gaming marathon. How dare sensei even tell him to go to the bathroom, or go get files to take down stupid All Might!) Kurogiri had ended up dragging him on this stupid side quest, so he was here now in the school, going to get files on Class 1-A.
Who even cares about Class 1-A? He could be beating Demon_Lord42 in this video game. Stupid bot, always saying weird outdated stuff from like the 2000’s. So after he decayed the door down from the ugly ass reporters (what people do to get scraps of lore.) he stormed down the hallway into Class 1-A. Or he would’ve.
As Shigaraki stormed down the hallway, he made a wrong turn and ended up getting trampled by stupid npcs. He laid on the floor, getting stepped on and kicked. Soon, some grape on the ceiling (probably a kid, but he got kicked in the eyes, so what did he know?) started a cutscene and everyone left. Finally.
So, where was he? Yes, getting the shitty file from the classroom… which classroom? He sat up from the floor, scratching his face and neck, dry skin cells falling off like snow falling to the ground. Class… Class 1-B? It was Class 1-B. Sensei said something about Class 1-A and 1-B being hero classes and to get the file from Class 1-B as they were better for the headlines. A nice ring to it.
Shigaraki dragged his feet to the classroom, lunch would end at a certain time. He hated those timed quests, open worlds were always better, you could destroy everything and be as rude as possible without being confined to a story.
He soon reached his destination and ruffled through the files, there it was. He took the papers and that was that. Now he just needed to report to Sensei. “Kurogiri.” His raspy voice called. The awful black mist came and so Shigaraki stepped through. Sensei would be so proud. And he would defeat Demon_Lord42. Shitty hacker.
-
All for One was fed up with Tomura, he said Class 1-A not 1-B! This would still work, he just needed to tweak his plans, 1-B was going later anyway. It would give his successor time to actually think things through.
He let out a sigh, as Garaki looked up. “Something wrong sir? Did Dusty_Chapstick173 challenge you and call you a hacker again? We could always find him and make him a nomu.” All for One shook his head. “No, Tomura has failed again. He gave me the wrong files. It can work in our favor.” He paused for a bit. “Also Dusty_Chapstick173 is no problem when he's at an awful level. Nomufacation is a blessing to him when the real punishment is not even knowing how to dash in the game.”
All for One turned away to resume his game. His avatar Demon_Lord42 flashing on the screen as he causally defeated Dusty_Chapstick173. Somewhere he heard Tomura screen with anger. No matter, he was sure Kurogiri would take care of it. That was why he invented Kurogiri in the first place, making people teleport through vomit was much more entertaining.
Notes:
Mineta is actually useful character, and most of the awful things that happen in fanfics are written by the author to bash on him. I don’t have enough energy to hate people, but if you want to bash on him that’s fine with me.
Tsu is my favorite character, and always was. It shows.
Shigaraki and Ojiro having the same mindset on reporters jskjskjsk.
Also not Shigaraki and Afo being video game enemies.
I don’t know how to get rid of the end notes I put in, so…
Chapter 5: I survived the press attack of 20XX
Summary:
The press are looking a little insane right now…
And Iida and Ojiro have an important conversation that won’t backfire whatsoever.
Notes:
Every thing I touch turns to crack…
In full seriousness, even though this seems like filler (it kinda is) it also has some… important things going on. Also me kinda setting up some plot stuff for the future (Everything I do is for a reason.)
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
When he arrived at school, the reporters had luckily left. As he got closer he realized this wasn’t the case. ‘Are they camped outside?!’ He mentally freaked out. In front of the wall of U.A. was a bunch of tents. Most of the tents were situated in front of the gate, making a small pathway, but so close that the reporters could pull them to their doom.
‘I should stop being dramatic, it’s just some reporters.’ He thought to himself as he took a step toward the gate. There was one kid in front, a tall kid with purple hair, who started walking towards the gate.
As he was about to make it there, a reporter, hair in a rats nest and bloodshot eyes, bolted out of a tent and grabbed the kid with a speed that shouldn’t have been possible for their tired look. The kid struggled to get out, clawing at the reporter’s arms.
Ojiro rushed over and came close to helping the kid, but the reporter growled at him like he was a wild animal, “He’s my interview, back off, oh plain one!”
Ojiro came closer, but the reporter rushed away into a different tent. As the reporter ran, the kid with the purple hair locked eyes with him and shook his head, and so Ojiro stopped.
He looked around, and when doing so he caught sight of other tired reporters, though they certainly didn’t look tired, they looked hungry. Strangely, when they caught sight of his face, they backed off. As if deeming him not important. Some even hissed like a vampire exposed to sunlight.
As he was about to break free of the clearing, Kaminari ran past him, reporters chasing them like it was their lifeline. Again, as the reached Ojiro, they backed off, angry. Kaminari turned to him.
“Those reporters are crazy! Did you smack them with your tail to stop them?” Kaminari asked, turning his head.
Ojiro blinked, “No, I just don’t think they like me.”
“As long as I don’t get chased down again, I don’t care.” Replied Kaminari.
Ojiro pondered that for a bit. “It is cool that I won’t get chased down, but I can’t help but wonder why.”
“Relax, we don’t need to worry about it.”
They soon made it to class, with time to spare. They talked for a while, but eventually Kaminari left to talk to Mina.
So Ojiro sat by himself. Awkwardly. ‘Honestly, how do they all know each other so well? It was only a few days into the school year.’ He thought, tail silently thumping against the ground in frustration.
Embarrassed, Ojiro looked around to see if he could talk to anyone. As he looked around the room, he caught the eyes of Todoroki. So, he walked over. ‘He likes puns right? Maybe I could say puns?’
“Hi, Todoroki.” He tried saying, as upbeat as possible.
Todoroki stared at him in response.
‘So that failed. I’ll just never talk to him again.’ He thought to himself before trying again.
“So you like ice puns? I’d tell you my best one, but it just slipped my mind.” He said.
Todoroki looked at him. Unimpressed. Which Todoroki can’t be judging because his puns in the battle trial were worse!
Then, Todoroki showed a rare glimpse of being social. Strange for the rather inept boy.
“I hail with words.” He replied, still in a monotone voice and an empty expression, but it was a start.
Happy to return the pun with another, he checked the clock, only to realize that he was out of time and class would start in a minute or so. ‘Did I really wait that long for Todoroki to respond?’ He thought to himself. Or maybe the press did slow him down.
It didn’t really matter either way, as Sensei rolled into the room. Again, in a yellow sleeping bag. The man seeing the classroom's expression, decided to instead of rolling around on the classroom floor, like he did before, got out and stood up.
“Good morning. Today you have a field trip. To the U.S.J. Yay. Grab your costumes,” He grumbled at that. “After you leave the changing rooms, go outside to the buses. Be irrational and be expelled”
Everyone immediately compiled. Nobody wanted to be expelled.
“Honestly, that could be sensei’s catch phrase.” Sero muttered.
Aizawas head turned to the class, staring holes into all of them. “Whoever said that is irrational and will be expelled.”
That shut them up quickly
-
As they got to the bus, Iida tried another power grab. Waving his arms and trying to convince everyone to get in a single file line.
‘Iida is really intense about trying to be a class president.’ Ojiro thought.
“Iida, I appreciate the effort, and while that seems like a good idea, it wasn’t needed and wasted time.” Asui said.
Sputtering, Iida gave up and just got on the bus. As Iida looked around at the bus, he slumped in defeat as he realized that even if they were in a single file line, it wouldn’t have mattered.
Ojiro, watching the whole exchange, thought to himself.
‘I wonder what would’ve happened if he was there when All Might forgot us?’
Deciding to do something nice for his classmate, he waved over Iida. When Iida sat down, Ojiro turned to him.
“Hey, Iida, Don’t worry about not being class president. Asui just took the lead while you were gone, you might’ve won if you were there for the battle trial incident.” He offered, hoping to be helpful.
This didn’t seem to cheer Iida up, instead Iida slumped down.
“But I wasn’t there and I didn’t win.” He looked at Ojiro. “My brother was also class president, and I studied the rule book front to back. Asui certainly deserves the role. I’m just… disappointed in myself.”
“There’s other ways to show places that you’re a good hero, the sports festival happens every year.”
Iida shook his head.
“That’s not the reason I wanted to be class president. I wanted to make my brother proud. He’s an accomplished person, and I just wanted to live up to him… and I failed.”
That was… shocking. He didn’t really think that Iida wanted it for any other reason than to have some credit to his name.
Iida, noticing his silence, looked away.
“It’s not a big deal, Asui seems responsible enough.”
That snapped Ojiro out of his stupor. Did he mess something up? Rushing to fix it, he was about to say something, anything really- but it was too late.
“We’re here.” Iida said as he stood up and walked off the bus.
The cheering and happy chatter didn’t suit Ojiros mood. Did he ruin the moment by taking too long? Sighing to himself, maybe he wouldn’t bring that up to Iida again. Or just avoid Iida in general.
Moving with the crowd, they had reached the USJ.
Notes:
I should probably mention, I do read your comments, and I really enjoy them, I just don’t really respond to any comments in general.
Also I had a classmate who reminded me of Iida. I see them in him, I wasn’t really close though, and I wonder what happened to them?
Anyways, I feel like I came of as prickly(earlier chapter notes), sorry about that.
