Chapter 1: A Normal Day at the Office
Chapter Text
It was a typical day at the Dunder Mifflin paper company. Everyone was working on something or making a sale, and the bitter scent of coffee and printing ink filled the air in the building.
Jim Halpert, known in the CIA world by his real name, Jack Ryan, was working on something when he got a call. “Ugh, god, who is it now?” he muttered as he answered, “Jim Halpert Dunder Mifflin. How can I help?” he said in a bored tone.
“Hey Jack, I haven’t heard from you in a while,” a familiar voice chirped from the other end of the phone.
Jack froze as he whispered, “Greer, is that you? I haven’t heard from you in a while,” He whispered as Dwight looked at him suspiciously. “Look, we can’t talk over the phone, Ryan; let's meet somewhere to talk” Jack nodded. “Where?” he whispered, “We’ll meet at Joe's Diner after work,” Jack wrote down the address on his phone. “Alright, see you later, sir,” Jack said as he ended the call.
“Who was that?” Dwight asked plainly as Jack lied. "Oh, no one, just an old friend,” he said, and Dwight felt he was lying for some reason but thought nothing of it.
----
After work, Jack went to Joe's Diner and met with Greer as they ordered some food and beer. “It’s been a while, Ryan; how’s the undercover job.”
Jim, or well, Jack, said, “It’s going well. I made friends with people, and I got an alright boss, so it’s not that bad,” he said with a smile as Greer smiled back. “Sounds lovely,” he said. “Look, I need you for a job,” he said, sipping his beer as Jack sighed. “You know I can’t do any more undercover jobs; I have this one to think about and, well, Jim’s well-being and besides, I’m still doing this undercover job, and I don’t want to blow my cover.”
“I know you do, but please do this job; you are a perfect spy.” James pleaded with a desperate look in his eyes.
Jack sighed. “Fine; I’ll do it; what’s the job?” he asked as Greer explained, "I can't tell you all the details, but you’ll be gone for a few days; you'll get more information from Mike."
Jack nodded, sighing as he finished his beer and left, saying goodbye to Greer after paying for his food.
----
He entered the office acting as if nothing had happened. Everyone was working as he sat at his desk and started typing away, trying to act normal.
“Jim? Are you okay? You seem to be on edge,” Andy Benard, another of Jack's co-workers, said, looking worried.
“Oh, uh, I’m fine. I'm just stressed from working. I guess you know how it is,” Jack said with a fake smile.
Andy left a little worried. Jack sighed in relief as he returned to work, secretly grateful his lie worked. He also secretly looked at CIA Case reports on his phone, furiously typing away, glued to it.
“Guys, is it just me, or has Jim been acting weird lately,” Andy said, looking at his co-workers, Dwight, Darryl and Ryan.
“Yeah, now that you’ve mentioned it, he’s been acting weird,” Ryan said, a little worried.
----
“He always comes back battered and bruised, like he’s been in a fight or something. I mean, remember when he came back with a limp and a broken arm? ” Darryl said nervously.
They decided to follow Jack on his break; he went to an abandoned warehouse wearing a black shirt, sports trousers, trainers, a hoodie, and fingerless gloves. He put in his black earbuds and listened to ‘Punching Bag’ By Set It Off as he started training by fighting dummies and punching a near-worn-out punching bag.
“So say goodbye to your Mr Nice Guy; you got your wish. He's rotting in hell!” Jack sang as he was in his world and kicked a dummy roundhouse.
Jack overlooked his friends as he got another call from Greer. “Hello?” Jack answered breathlessly as Greer said over the phone, "Hey Jack, just making sure you're ready for the mission in a few days. Have you thought of a lie yet to get out of work?”.
“Still thinking of one, sir, any ideas?" He whispered over the phone as he still had his earbuds in and downed a bottle of water from his duffle bag.
“Just make up an excuse that you have a business deal to take care of or a family emergency,” he said as Jim or Jack chuckled. "Sure, that'll be a good idea; I haven't used that excuse enough times," he said as James chuckled. "I know, Jack, but to be fair, it's your best excuse for anything," he said in mock sarcasm as they laughed over the phone. Jack then ended the call before he went back to training again as he listened to his music.
Jack then called Michael and told him he'd be off for a few days for a business sale, and surprisingly, his boss bought the lie as Jim or Jack went on his mission dealing with a bunch of Russian thugs and a lot more.
----
A few days later, he came back covered in cuts and bruises. He wore a black T-shirt, hoodie, jeans, and trainers, and his hair was messy. He slowly sat down in the conference room as a meeting was happening and quickly started typing up the mission report on his phone, which had special encryption so no one could find out his secret identity or the work he would do. He completely ignored everything as the meeting ended.
Jack left the room staggering as he grabbed the first AID kit from the breakroom and started cleaning and bandaging his wounds as he kept wincing; his friends saw him with his earbuds in, on the phone with one of his CIA friends, Mike November, as he chuckled.
"Honestly, that mission could have gone better, but hey, it never does", Jack mumbled.
His colleague Mike November was on the other end of the phone, chuckling. "Yeah, Jack, it never goes well for you; I'm still surprised you survived and managed to come back in one piece," he said in mock sarcasm.
Jack laughed as he cleaned more of his wounds. "Oh, haha, says you, but hey, I'm just good at my job", he sniggered as he kept secretly talking to his friend whilst cleaning his wounds; his friends were watching him, wondering why he was acting so weird as he was still on the phone laughing and chatting as he cleaned his wounds as his friends and co-workers watched from afar.
----
"Oh really, I had to save your ass from that crazy Annie Wilkes wannabe who was obsessed with you", Mike laughed.
" Says you when I had to save you from that Norman Bates lookalike that tried to murder you in that abandoned motel", Jack said in mock sarcasm
Mike laughed. "I remember you playing the scooby doo theme song while I was running and screaming like a character in a horror movie."
Jack laughed loudly. "Yeah, that was so funny, and Greer even filmed it; I seriously couldn't believe he did", he added; they both couldn't stop laughing; they both had tears streaming down his face from laughing too much
"I swear when he showed the rest of the office, even I couldn't stop laughing; it was so funny," he said, sniggering.
Mike laughed. "Yeah, it was the best day ever for the both of us." He sniggered as Jack laughed, "Yep, it was."
The day went by as usual, and no one suspected a thing. Jack continued his day as normal. After work, he went on another mission, which went flawlessly. He returned home and fell onto his bed, groaning tiredly. He then got ready for bed and fell asleep. An audiobook played in the background from his phone, charging peacefully on his bedside table. He snuggled into the warm covers and fell asleep, feeling at peace.
Chapter 2: The Big Corporate Meeting
Chapter Text
The next day, Jack was typing reports as usual. He looked bored and tired, wishing he was on a CIA mission right now, but he had to keep up his facade, so he did his work and sighed.
"Hey Jim, did you get the Johnson accounts filed?" Dwight asked, looking over at him.
Jack snapped out of his daze, nodding. "Yeah, Dwight, all filed..." he mumbled boredly.
Dwight raised an eyebrow. "Jim, are you okay? You seem bored," he asked sceptically.
"Oh, I'm fine, just a boring day of paperwork", Jack said, which wasn't much of a lie.
Dwight seemed to buy it. "Understandable", he said, going back to work; he knew how tedious paperwork could sometimes be, so it was expected, which made Jack's lie believable.
Jack sighed deeply, getting up from his chair, stretching as he yawned, and rolling his stiff shoulders back because he had sat down for too long.
----
He then left for the breakroom to get a coffee to keep himself awake; he poured himself a cup, sipping it slowly as he returned to his desk.
As he returned to his desk, he saw David Wallace, Head of Corporate Dunder Mifflin Scranton, walk into the room.
Michael Scott, the regional manager, enthusiastically walked out of his office. "David! Just in time for the meeting," he said, beaming. David chuckled. "Yes, Michael, let's get it over with," he said.
Michael then gestured for everyone to come into the conference room for the meeting, beaming with excitement, which would typically make Jack feel used to it, but in this case, he just wanted to leave.
----
Jack sighed deeply; he didn't want to be in a meeting but rather on a CIA mission doing something dangerous.
I swear I'd rather want to be fighting a bunch of mafia bosses right now. How long is this meeting supposed to be?
The meeting started as everyone sat down. Jack leaned back in his chair, looking bored and disinterested, as did everyone else.
The only enthusiastic people were Dwight and Michael, who chimed in on things relating to the meeting.
"I think we should check the paper thickness of what paper we use", Michael said, smiling.
Dwight nodded. "Yes, and we need to check our paper stocks so we can check if we need more," he said
David nodded, smiling. "I agree," he said, writing notes.
Jack groaned internally.
why the actual fuck do we need to know about paper thickness and stock? God just kill me now...
Finally, the meeting ended as David shook Michael's hand and left the building to return to Corporate.
Jack sighed in relief as he exited the room, stretching.
"Finally..." He muttered as he returned to his desk.
----
The hours ticked by as Jack continued working, his mind elsewhere. He kept thinking of all the exciting missions he would be doing, which made Dwight's survival fantasies seem tame.
Then the day was finally over—peace at last.
"Hey Jim, we're all going to a bar. You wanna come?" Kevin asked with a smile
"No thanks, Kevin, gotta catch up on some work", Jack lied with a smile.
"Oh, Okay! See you tomorrow," Kevin said, still smiling. As he left, he was oblivious to Jack's plans and waved goodbye to everyone else.
Jack sighed in relief as he packed his stuff and left the building. He got into his car, put his bag in the seat next to him, and his phone buzzed in his pocket.
He took out his phone and checked the message from Greer.
'Got another mission; meet at HQ for debriefing.'
Jack smiled as he put his phone away in his pocket and drove out of the parking lot, driving peacefully to the CIA Headquarters.
----
"So what's the mission this time?" Jack asked, stretching. He needed some action after sitting in an office for hours answering sales calls, which, to be completely honest, was boring for him.
"There's going to be a meeting handing over illegal information on every undercover CIA agent in the world. It's going down at the Silver Dragon Hotel, between The Dragons, an influential group of mafia gangs from Shanghai, China. They are very powerful and arrogant, but in this case, they have to act like civilized adults over a fancy dinner; the auction will take place on a different day, and all the triad bosses are doing is discussing who is going to guard that information until then; you're gonna go undercover as a waiter and try to gather as much information as you can and make sure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands" Greer explained.
Jack nodded, feeling a sense of excitement and nervousness.
"The information will be on a USB drive in a briefcase with a code, which will only be given to the auction winner," Greer added.
Mike gently put a hand on Jack's shoulder. "Don't worry, you'll be fine, and if things go sideways, you can call for backup."
Jack nodded, feeling a sense of relief. "Okay, let's do this."
Greer smiled. "Excellent; good luck, Jack," he said as he left to start his mission.
----
At the bar, everyone was chatting, joking around, and laughing. The hustle and bustle of people filled the noise around them, and music played in the background.
"Hey guys, have you noticed Jim acting weird lately?" Oscar asked, sipping a beer
"Now that you've mentioned it, he has been acting strange lately", Phyllis replied, sipping a cocktail.
"Yeah, Darryl, Ryan and I saw him training intensely like he was doing an intense workout", Andy chimed in.
"Wait, seriously?" Erin said, raising an eyebrow as she sipped her drink. "That is odd."
"I'm sure he just wants to work out," Kelly said dismissively, although her tone wasn't convincing.
"Yeah, but that intensely—I mean, he literally roundhouse kicked a dummy's head off," Ryan countered, remembering what he saw.
"I keep seeing him leave a lot as well; he doesn't spend time with us that often", Creed replied, sipping a beer.
Dwight raised an eyebrow. "That is true; remember when he came into a meeting limping and with a broken arm, which he said was an accident?"
Everyone nodded, looking worried.
"I don't think we should be meddling with Jim's business", Angela said firmly, sipping her drink, although she was curious aswell.
Everyone continued speculating about Jack and why he was so acting weird.
"He's always on his phone, too, which is odd", Darryl explained, sipping his beer.
"I know, he's always so secretive too; I hope Jim's okay", Phyllis added worriedly.
"I'm sure he'll be okay, but I agree with Angela. Let's not meddle in Jim's business unless he tells us", Pam said as she sipped her cocktail.
----
The triads met to decide who would guard the information for the upcoming auction. Servers bustled in and out, pouring drinks for the bosses. Their bodyguards stood by, keeping watch. Each Triad boss had a longer criminal record than ever, including robbery, murder, and a host of other charges.
"I think I should take the information; I am quite popular in crime circles," Zane, Head of the Bronze Dragons, said firmly, his voice booming with importance as he adjusted his tie on his very expensive dark blue suit.
"It should be me; I have far more experience and better security," Nadia, Head of the Golden Dragons, said firmly. Her power emanated from the room as she sipped a glass of wine. She wore a stunning black dress, silver heels, and golden jewellery. Some of her dark brown hair fell gently across her face, and her golden eyes glinted in the light.
"Oh, please. It should be me; I'm more experienced." Xavier, Head of the Silver Dragons, spoke up, his gaze firm and authoritative as he ate some sushi and adjusted his silver suit, and some of his silver hair fell gently across his face.
"I believe I should take the information; I hold far more power than any of you," Selena, Head of the Diamond Dragons, shot back with an icy tone, rolling her eyes. She wore a dark red dress, black heels, and diamond jewellery, her black hair glinting in the light while her ice-blue eyes sparkled.
Jack listened to everything said, acting like a regular server, pouring drinks and taking empty plates. Meanwhile, he had an earpiece in his ear from which Mike and Greer could hear everything, with help from Patrick, who worked in Cybercrimes at the CIA.
"Okay, we can hear everything; I also hacked the cameras so we can have footage of everything, too," Patrick said, typing on his laptop.
Greer nodded. "Good, we don't want this to get out of hand."
Jack continued to pour out drinks as the Triad bosses continued to talk and sip their drinks.
Thankfully, it didn't become much of an argument; it involved many stern words.
Jack sighed in relief, feeling like this mission might go smoothly.
Hopefully.
----
"Oh, shut up. Do you seriously think a woman like me can't guard important information like that!" Selena retorted.
"Really? Is that it? Wow, you are so fucking stupid; I don't care about that, I care about someone getting the job done! Not because of their fucking gender," Xavier spat back.
The argument got very heated, and Jack couldn't help but roll his eyes as he cleaned some tables while listening to them argue like toddlers with guns.
Jesus Christ, they love to act like fucking toddlers, but hey, at least it's entertaining.
Jack continued to gather more information as the argument got so bad that it gave him a headache.
----
Then the arguing got even more annoying.
"Oh, shut the fuck up, Nadia! No one cares about your stupid reputation. Honestly, you've been caught by the CIA a ton of times for your pathetic schemes." Zane spat angrily
Nadia's eyes widened in shock and anger. "How fucking dare you! You're the one who kept ratting my operations out," She retorted.
Jack nearly burst out laughing but kept his composure as the other servers cleaned everything up. Meanwhile, the Triad bosses ate desserts, drank coffee, and smoked fancy cigarettes.
"Anything?" Mike asked through the earpiece
"Nope, just the triad bosses fighting like toddlers but with guns," Jack whispered, as no one paid attention to him since they were too busy with their tasks.
"Seriously?" Greer said chuckling
"Oh yeah, I tried so hard not to laugh", Jack whispered as he put some dishes away.
"Did they decide on who'll guard the information?" Patrick asked
Jack shook his head. "Nope, just a lot of arguing," he added.
"right, well, make sure you don't get caught and try not to do anything stupid," Greer warned
Jack rolled his eyes playfully. "When have I ever done something stupid?" he muttered.
"You want a list?" Patrick joked as Jack tried not to laugh as he continued his mission.
The Triad bosses continued to argue as Jack collected more information., without getting caught, which was impressive.
Then the arguing got bad, leaving Jack with a horrible headache.
----
"Enough! We aren't children; this is beneath us. I will guard the information before the upcoming auction," Xavier said, his voice booming. The arguing stopped within seconds.
"You're right...we're way too over our heads, and I agree you should keep the information", Selena said reluctantly in a calm tone.
Everyone else agreed as Xavier adjusted his suit.
"Good. I'm glad that's sorted," he said. Jack finally sighed in relief as one of the bodyguards gave him the briefcase.
"I will send out the location and time of the auction soon," Xavier said. Everyone nodded, and the evening stopped, all the bosses and bodyguards leaving after calming down.
Jack got all the information needed as he slipped out of the building.
"Got all that?" Jack asked as he got into his car
"Yes, well done; go home and rest, Jack; you deserve it. I'll update you on the mission in due course," Greer said with a smile.
Jack smiled. "Thanks, boss," He said as he drove home, the radio playing softly in the background.
Chapter 3: Michael's Big Morale Booster
Chapter Text
The next day, Jack walked back into Dunder Mifflin, looking exhausted from last night, flopping into his chair as he nearly fell asleep.
"Hey Jim, are you okay? You look exhausted." Andy asked softly with concern.
"Oh, I'm okay...just a long day of working last night.." Jack mumbled tiredly
Andy sighed softly and understandingly as he went back to his desk.
Just then, Michael bounded in from his office with an enthusiastic grin.
"Guys, I've got an announcement," Michael said eagerly.
Jack groaned as he flopped his head onto his desk, not wanting to do anything.
Oh, for god sake, whatever this is, it's gonna be something stupid
----
"I've seen how down our morale is, so I've decided to have a morale booster!" Michael continued as a collection of groans filled the room, apart from Dwight, who was excited about whatever Michael had planned.
"What's the plan?" Dwight said enthusiastically as Jack just groaned into his desk.
"We're going to do lots of activities to get our blood pumping," Michael explained eagerly, not registering everyone's groans.
"Michael, we've got work to do; I don't think having a morale booster is a good idea right now", Oscar said, rubbing his eyes.
"Oh, come on, it'll be fun!" Michael said, smiling as he looked at Jack, who seemed half asleep on his desk
"Jim? You okay?" Michael asked as Jack slowly sat up, rubbing his eyes.
"I'm fine, Michael. It was just a long day last night. I finished a lot of work," Jack lied tiredly.
"Ah, well, maybe this will help you stay awake!" Michael beamed as Jack managed a small smile
"Thanks, but I think I just need coffee..." Jack mumbled as he exited his desk and slowly trudged off to the breakroom.
----
Dwight looked sceptical about Jack and his weird behaviour but decided to keep that to himself.
Jack poured himself a cup of coffee, sipping it slowly as he let the caffeine into his system.
"Halpert? You okay?" Dwight asked, walking into the room and raising an eyebrow.
"I-I'm fine, Dwight, just tired..." Jack lied, sipping his coffee
Dwight narrowed his eyes but chose not to pry on the subject.
"Anyway, are you participating in Michael's morale booster?" Dwight asked, changing the subject.
"I don't know...probably, but I'm just too tired," Jack replied, sipping his coffee.
"Understandable", Dwight shrugged casually as he made himself a coffee, walked towards the door back to the office, and then turned around.
"But seriously, if you want to talk, I'm here if you need me," Dwight said concernedly but still in his plain tone.
"Thank you, I appreciate that", Jack said softly as Dwight walked out of the breakroom.
Jack sighed deeply, sipping his coffee as he rubbed his eyes and walked out of the breakroom to his desk.
Michael then tried to get everyone to join his morale booster, which worked, but it wasn't as good as he had hoped. It worked, which made Michael happy, so it worked out for him.
As for Jack, he was sipping his coffee and doing his work as usual, but his mind was elsewhere, on the mission he was working on, which was still reeling in his mind.
What information is in that briefcase? How the hell am I going to get into that auction? I mean, I could go undercover again...
"Jim?" A voice called out.
Jack snapped out of his thoughts. "H-huh?" he said, looking at Kevin, who had called him over.
"Are you okay? you seem distracted?" Kevin asked concerned
"Oh, I'm okay, just busy with work," Jack lied with a small smile.
"Are you sure? It's just you've been acting weird lately, and we're all worried about you," Kevin said softly.
Jack sighed softly. "I'm okay, Kevin."
Kevin smiled a little "Well, okay, if you say so", he said not wanting to press any further as he went back to his desk
Jack sighed, continuing to think of his mission. Then, he returned to work and continued his day as usual, feeling the boredom grow inside him again.
Chapter 4: Dwight's Survival Training
Chapter Text
The next day, Jack walked into work, feeling a little better as he continued to think about the mission; he was nervous but determined to get the job done.
Jack sat at his desk, typing on some reports, and Dwight ran into the room excitedly with Michael.
"Everyone, we have an announcement!" Michael said excitedly, and everyone slowly turned to look at him.
"We'll be doing a survival course at Schrute Farms for a few days!" Michael beamed excitedly, and everyone groaned in annoyance.
"Seriously, Michael! I do not want to do a survival course!" Kelly shouted, rolling her eyes
"Yeah, we always do them, and they're never fun!" Creed shouted in agreement.
Everyone kept getting annoyed as Michael calmed them down. "How about we make it interesting, huh?"
"Okay, I'm listening," Ryan said, intrigued.
"Winner gets a week off work, salary paid", Michael said as everyone agreed to do the Survival course.
----
Jack didn't want to do it, not because he disliked it, but he couldn't because it would have shown off his CIA skills, and he couldn't risk being exposed.
When Jack was about to speak, he received a text from Greer. He took out his phone and scanned the message.
'Meet at the usual place. We've got the details for the mission. You start tomorrow'
Jack replied with a message, then turned to Michael, putting his phone back in his pocket.
"Sorry, Michael. I can't attend the course. I'm attending a client meeting about a massive deal for a few days. I leave tomorrow," Jack lied.
"Oh, that's okay, Jim! Good luck with the meeting," Michael beamed.
Jack smiled in relief. "Thanks, Michael," he said as Dwight looked sceptical but kept his suspicions to himself, going back to work and secretly texting Greer to ensure he was clear about doing the mission.
As soon as he returned to work, everyone was still suspicious of Jack and his weird behaviour, but they didn't press the issue; they continued their work as usual.
As the day went on, Jack's mind continued to wander. He knew this mission would be challenging, but he was determined to do his best no matter what.
----
The rest of Jack's co-workers were taking a break from many survival challenges, which included hay bale throwing, rope swinging, growing beets and more.
It was like an episode of Bear Grylls but at a beet farm.
"Ugh, I can't believe Jim got to miss out on this.." Kelly said, panting as she sipped a bottle of water
"I know; I wonder how his client meeting is going," Darryl replied, sitting on a hay bale.
"He's so lucky," Pam replied, panting as she downed a water bottle.
"yeah, he so is", Kevin replied, sighing deeply.
Soon, Michael bounded into the conversation. "Everyone having fun?" He asked
"I guess, but we're just talking about how lucky Jim is not to be here", Creed replied casually as he leaned against the barn wall.
"I'm sure he'll be fine at his client meeting," Michael said enthusiastically.
Everyone was sceptical but trusted Michael's judgement.
Dwight called them over for another challenge. After a singing contest, Andy won. Surprisingly, he had done well, and everyone smiled and congratulated him.
After the challenges, everyone relaxed at the farmhouse, chatting and laughing. As the days passed, they just relaxed and had fun, but their minds lingered on Jack and his actions.
----
Meanwhile, Jack was dressed in a fancy tuxedo, sipping a glass of champagne and surveying the scene as he chatted with guests and blended in easily.
"Anything suspicous?" Patrick asked through Jack's earpiece.
"Nope", Jack muttered, sipping his champagne.
"Okay, that's good. Please keep your cover; We don't want you getting drunk and doing something stupid again." Mike chuckled through the earpiece.
Jack rolled his eyes. "Oh, haha, very funny," he muttered, eating a fancy hors d'oeuvre that surprisingly tasted good.
Greer smirked as Jack continued to gather more information. He sipped his champagne as he walked around and mingled with the guests.
Soon, the auction started, and everyone went to their seats and sat down. Zane walked onto the stage with the other Triad bosses, who were wearing fancy outfits and looking smug, which made Jack want to shoot them.
"Welcome, everyone; I am so happy you could make it to the auction; now let's get this started", Zane said with a PR smile.
Everyone cheered as Jack faked his smile, but inside, he was annoyed with everything, including his meeting a few days ago. Discussing paper thickness made him want to bash his head into the wall.
Xavier walked on the Stage while Selena and Nadia chatted with high-end officials.
"Okay, Jack, you know what to do?" Greer asked through his earpiece
Jack nodded. "Yeah, I know," he said, sighing softly.
____
"Good now, don't worry, we're right here, okay?" Mike said, reassuring him.
"I know," Jack said softly, taking a deep breath and continuing his mission.
The auction started as everyone placed their bets, with Jack following their lead quite quickly.
The betting ring was relatively high as Jack continued to play along.
The winner who got the information was another powerful Mafia family, whom Jack recognised, his eyes widening.
"Great. There are more mafia families; this will be a field day," Jack muttered, rolling his eyes as he snuck out of the party. He ran down the hallway into a VIP room where the deal was being held. Staying in the shadows, he listened intently to the deal unfold.
"So, did you secure the briefcase?" The Mafia boss asked, sipping a glass of whiskey
Selena nodded, bringing out the briefcase. "Do you have the money?" She asked.
The Mafia boss nodded, taking out his phone and transferring the 100 million dollars into an offshore account, "done." he said
"Pleasure doing business with you," Xavier said, smirking.
"Not so fast, assholes," Jack said, smirking as he walked into the room, surprising everyone.
____
"Who are you?" Nadia asked scoffing
"Probably a guest", Selena retorted smugly.
Jack laughed bitterly, wiping their smug looks off their faces. "Actually," he said, taking out his CIA badge," CIA agent Jack Ryan and all of you are under arrest." He smirked as he managed to snatch the briefcase. "And I'll be taking this, thank you," he said, putting his badge away in his pocket.
"How did you even know about this?!" Zane retorted.
"Oh, I was at the meeting to decide who would take this briefcase, but I was undercover as a waiter. That whole meeting was rather entertaining, Zane." Jack sneered, smirking as fear crept into them.
"I thought you said there would be no law enforcement," the Mafia boss hissed.
"Oh, so you were expecting me, how quaint," Jack laughed.
"Jack, do you have the briefcase?" Greer asked through his earpiece.
"Yes sir, I've got it," Jack said, smirking.
The Mafia and Triad bosses tried to attack him, but Jack was quicker as he trounced them, even using the briefcase as a weapon and smacking everyone hard, just like in a John Wick movie.
After a long, gruelling fight, he called in the CIA SWAT team, who arrested the mafia and Triad bosses. Jack returned to the CIA HQ with the briefcase and handed it to Greer, who was impressed.
"Well done, Jack," Greer said, smirking.
"Thanks, boss", Jack replied, stretching.
"You won't get away with this!" Nadia screeched
"Oh shut the fuck up, Nadia, quit your whining." Jack spat back coldly, shutting her up instantly.
The Triad and Mafia bosses got arrested, and then Jack finally got to go home.
----
'Hey Jim, you're probably tired after your client meeting, so take a few days off! You deserve it!'
Jack groggily read the text from Michael, smiling in relief as he texted back a response before putting his phone down, snuggling into the warm covers of his bed, and going back to sleep within seconds.
Jack smiled softly in his sleep, nuzzling into the warm covers of his bed, not bothering to get up; he finally had a few days off, and all he would do was chill and nothing else.
'Now this is the life' Jack thought snuggling into the warm covers of his bed.
Chapter 5: The Dundee Games
Chapter Text
The next day, Jack walked into work wearing a T-shirt, jacket, jeans, and trainers because he couldn't be asked to wear a more professional suit.
"Wow, Jim, wearing casual stuff today, are we?" Kevin teased with a smirk.
"Yeah, I couldn't be asked to wear a suit today..." Jack replied with a chuckle.
"It's understandable, but hey, at least you look smart," Oscar replied, sipping his coffee.
Jack just chuckled, sitting at his desk with a relaxed sigh.
"You seem relaxed after your days off, Jim. Was it that good?" Phyllis asked smiling
"Oh, I loved it. Just lounging in bed, watching TV, and doing nothing was the best," Jack said, smiling.
Phyllis smiled as she went back to her work.
----
Jack went about his day as usual, taking calls and writing company reports.
A few hours passed, and Jack was still working, looking bored.
"Jim, could you pass me the Smith reports, please?" Dwight asked
Jack nodded, handing the reports to him. "Here you go," He said
"Thanks", Dwight said, taking the reports and returning to work as usual.
"You're welcome," Jack said as he finished his work, stretching in his chair.
The hours passed, and Jack got a text from Greer.
'Jack, we got another mission soon, but don't worry, we'll message you later for further instructions.'
'Alright. 👍'
Jack sent the message, slipped his phone into his pocket and returned to work as usual.
The day passed as usual; Jack continued working, chatting with his co-workers, and playing little pranks, the usual.
Jack sighed softly as he stretched in his chair, yawning after a long work day.
After the day had passed, Jack went home. As he yawned, he walked inside, closing and locking his door behind him. Then, groaning tiredly, he fell onto the couch.
Eventually, Jack got up and walked upstairs to his room. He changed into something more comfortable, then charged his phone on his bedside table as he got into bed and fell asleep within seconds.

The next day, Jack returned from a mission involving a family of con artists who had been deceiving higher-ups to steal information and sell it to the highest bidder. He had just arrested them after providing false information, which led to their capture.
Jack came into the office. He stretched and yawned as he went back to working on some reports.
Soon, Michael came bounding in, excited.
"Everyone, I've got an amazing plan for us. Today, we're going to bring back the Dundee games!"
Everyone looked excited, but Jack groaned as he rubbed his eyes.
I can't deal with this. Lord, help me.
"So who's in?" Michael asked. As everyone said yes, he beamed.
Jack, however, wanted to do something else.
As everyone got excited about the games, Jack got a message from Greer.
'Jack, your mission is sooner than expected. Be ready and prepared; meet at HQ for a debriefing.'
Jack internally sighed in relief.
Thank god.
----
Dwight asked curiously, "What kind of games will we be playing?"
"Lots of different ones. We'll be playing sports games, competitions, and loads more!" Michael said excitedly.
While Michael explained more about the games, everyone listened as Dwight added his crazy ideas, which involved aspects of surviving in the wild, combat, or something insane that everyone hated but had to deal with.
----
They didn't realise that Jack had slipped out of the office, running out of the building into a black SUV parked discreetly out of view. He got inside and changed into his black tactical gear. Soon, he put on his seatbelt, shifted the SUV into drive, and drove out of the office.
He had his phone on a stand as Patrick called him a few minutes later.
Jack pressed the answer button, keeping his gaze on the road as he drove.
"So, Jack, did you get out of the office?" He teased.
"Yeah, everyone was wrapped up in Michael's stupid shenanigans, and they didn't notice me leave," Jack retorted with a smirk.
Another voice chimed in; it was Mike. "So what crazy thing was Michael planning?"
Jack laughed. "Honestly, it's something I don't want to be a part of," he said, grimacing as he continued driving to the CIA Safe House Where he lived; he continued chatting with Mike before ending the call.
As soon as Jack reached the CIA Safe House, he drove into the driveway and exited his car, stretching after sitting in it for too long.
----
Jack grabbed his gear bag and entered the safehouse. He closed the door behind him and sighed. He entered the living room and put his bag down as Mike, Patrick, and Greer entered.
"So what's the mission today?" Jack asked, flopping onto the couch, "I'm itching for something good; working in the office is making me feel suffocated."
Greer chuckled. "Okay, Roadrunner, calm down", he teased, making Jack laugh.
"oh, haha, very funny, Wile E Coyote." Jack teased back.
"Alright, let's get started," Mike said, chuckling.
Patrick pulled up the mission briefing from his laptop.
"Okay, do you remember the Triad mission you completed a few weeks ago?" Greer asked as Jack nodded.
"yeah, why?" Jack asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Well, it seems they're now trying to sell a priceless artefact to Shanghai's most powerful Triad family," Mike explained as Patrick showed Jack the information.
"Who?" Jack asked, raising an eyebrow
"The Emerald Dragons. They're way more powerful than all those triad families combined," Greer explained.
"What's the Artefact?" Jack asked curiously.
"The le Collier de l'Aurore, AKA The Necklace of the Dawn, is priceless," Mike explained, showing a picture of the necklace with a silver chain and jade gems encrusted on it.
"Wow, that necklace does look priceless", Jack said, leaning back against the couch.
Greer nodded. "Your objective is to return the necklace and hand it over to the French Embassy, which will keep it safe."
Jack nodded. "Alright, this sounds interesting," he said, smirking.
"The mission will take place in Tokyo, Japan. That's where the deal will take place during a gala. You'll go undercover and do your thing," Mike explained as Jack took in all the mission details.
"Alright, let's do this. When do I start?" Jack asked, straightening up.
"Tomorrow, I'll send the details," Greer said as Jack nodded. Everyone then left as Jack prepared himself for the mission, conducting research and ensuring he knew what to do.
----
Meanwhile, the Dundee games went well, and Pam won. Everyone congratulated her as they went out to celebrate her win.
"Congratulations, Pam, you did amazingly," Darryl said, smiling and sipping a drink.
Pam smiled. "Oh, thanks." She said, tucking her hair behind her ear.
Everyone was having fun, chatting, drinking, and just relaxing.
Soon, the conversation turned to talking about Jack.
"Guys, hasn't Jim been acting weirder than usual lately," Ryan asked, sipping his beer.
"yeah, I saw him sneak out of the building; he seemed intent on leaving." Andy added, "It was odd."
"I would have followed him, but he was too quick for me", Dwight said, adjusting his glasses.
Everyone started forming theories about Jack, each becoming increasingly wilder as time passed. Dwight thought he was in a fight club, Andy thought he was an assassin, and so on, as everyone continued to make theories.
____
Jack was preparing for his mission; his mind was focused and sharp as he thought about all the ridiculous theories his colleagues were making about him.
"Please, an assassin; I mean...they aren't wrong", Jack muttered, laughing to himself. "And really, Dwight, a fight club, how adorable", he added, amused as he packed up for his mission.
"Well, let's get this mission started", Jack mumbled, texting Michael that he had to deal with a personal emergency for a few days, which he believed instantly, saying he should 'take all the time he needed', which helped his lie.
Soon, Jack got on a private jet and began his mission, adrenaline kicking in hard along with his excitement.
Chapter 6: The Sudden Work Trip
Chapter Text
Everyone was working as usual, completing paperwork, taking sales calls, and engaging in small talk.
But Jack was nowhere to be seen; his desk chair was empty, his computer was off, and his desk was untouched.
"Uh, guys, where's Jim?" Pam asked, looking at his empty desk.
"I don't know," Dwight said suspiciously, "He's normally in by now"
"I'm sure he's fine", Phyllis said, looking up from her computer.
Soon, Michael bounded in from his office with a smile "Good morning, everyone! You all ready to start the day?"
"Michael?" Ryan asked, "Where's Jim? Is he going to be in today?"
"Oh no, he's not gonna be in for a few days; got a personal emergency", Michael explained dismissively with a grin.
"Really? Well, okay," Andy said, returning to his work, feeling a wave of unease.
Everyone continued working, but their minds were focused on one thing.
Where was Jim?
____
"Okay, Jack, you got the details for your mission?" Patrick asked through an earpiece.
"Yeah, I got it; find the necklace, steal it and give it back to the French embassy", Jack repeated, adjusting his tie; he was wearing a fancy suit as part of his undercover role for his mission.
"Good, just be careful and don't do anything stupid", Mike interjected with a laugh.
"Well, there goes my plan to do something dumb", Jack teased sarcastically.
"Jack, come on, please don't do anything dangerous; last time you did, it caused a riot and chaos", Greer said with a tired sigh, like a father when his kids are about to do something reckless.
"In my defence, it was a spur-of-the-moment thing between me and those drug dealer thugs trying to kill me, but it wasn't my fault it got out of hand during that car chase", Jack said, defending himself with a grin.
"Uh-huh, sure," Greer said sarcastically, rubbing his eyes.
Jack laughed, "Fine, I'll behave...for now", he teased.
Greer facepalmed, "Yeah, that's code for 'I'm gonna do something hazardous for fun' Just please don't do anything dumb."
Mike laughed. "Oh, come on, James, I'm sure nothing will go wrong."
"Famous last words", Patrick muttered, earning himself a glare from Greer as he just shrugged and went back to his task of finding out about the Emerald Dragons and the other triad bosses, as well as getting the necklace back.
____
Everyone kept coming up with theories about Jack as their worries grew while they were at work.
"I swear something is seriously off with Jim," Oscar said, looking up from his computer.
"I'm sure he's fine," Angela said, crossing her arms.
Dwight, being ever so suspicious, shook his head. "No, I don't think so; he's been using way too many excuses, which to me seem odd," he said, adjusting his glasses.
Kevin looked up. "I'm sure he'll be okay; I mean, what's the worst that could happen to him?"
____
"YOU SAID THIS WOULD BE EASY!" Jack shouted angrily as he hid behind a table, gunshots ringing out, people panicking and screaming, Triad bosses shouting orders and shooting each other.
"Well...let's be honest, all the missions aren't easy," Patrick said, hacking into the security systems.
Jack groaned. "Ugh, fair point." He muttered, shooting back at the Triad bosses and their goons, killing them with every shot.
Soon, Jack decided to be a bit extra and put in his earbuds as he put on some music and started fighting with badass tunes in his ears.
"Let's have some fun", Jack muttered as he fought lots of goons easily whilst listening to music.
The goons tried to fight him but failed as he beat the crap out of them with ease from his training in the CIA.
Jack roundhouse kicked a goon in the chest hard, knocking the air out of him as he got flung into a bunch of other goons.
"Ha, Strike!" Jack shouted, laughing as he grabbed the case from another triad boss. He then smacked Zane hard, knocking him down along with the other Triad bosses, like dominoes.
Greer, Patrick and Mike watched from the sidelines, amused at what Jack was doing.
"Is he seriously listening to music while fighting triad bosses?" Greer deadpanned with a tired sigh.
"What, come on, he's good at it", Mike said, laughing.
Greer just sighed as Patrick laughed.
Jack continued fighting as he ran out of the building with the necklace in a secure case; he got into a car, throwing the case onto the seat next to him.
He put the car in drive and sped off, his chest rising and falling heavily.
"I-i got it..." Jack said, coughing from running as he drove the car, making sure no one was following him.
Jack's heart pounded in his chest, his whole body running on adrenaline, music and pure willpower.
He then stepped on the gas pedal and sped off, still feeling as though he was being followed, his lungs burning and his heart racing.
Through the rearview mirror, he saw more cars with different mafia logos on them, and he groaned in annoyance.
"God fucking dammit.." Jack muttered, tapping his comm in his ear, "Guys, we've got a problem, more cars are following me." He said
"Oh great, just be careful, okay", Greer said firmly.
Jack grabbed his gun and shot some of the tires of the cars behind him. The cars skidded as they crashed into a wall.
"Haha suckers" Jack muttered putting his gun down as he kept driving, music blasting in his earbuds.
The mafia bosses were getting desperate as if all their power was being drained.
"We can't let him get away!" Selena hissed, stamping her foot like a child having a tantrum.
"But what can we do? He just keeps shooting at our guards," Zane retorted.
Meanwhile, in the car Jack was driving, he had a stupid idea.
"Patrick, patch me into the triad bosses' speakers", Jack said, smirking.
Patrick obliged and patched him into the speakers.
Greer sighed, knowing Jack was going to do something stupid. Mike, however, just watched.
"Hey losers, missing your case?" Jack's voice mocked through the speakers.
"GIVE IT BACK YOU WORTHLESS SHIT" Nadia spat angrily.
"Nah," Jack said simply while laughing.
"We will get you, Agent Ryan, you know we will!" Xavier hissed angrily, his fury boiling.
"Oh, I know, but it is funny that you're all having a temper tantrum like kids in kindergarten", Jack said, smirking as he managed to shoot the rest of the cars as he swerved around a corner, the goons lost to the wind.
"Anyway, I got a date with the French Embassy, so Au revoir mes amis", Jack said in a mocking French accent as he darted off and ended the call, cutting out the screams from the other end.
Chapter 7: The Corporate Retreat
Chapter Text
Jack walked into the office, rolling his shoulders back as he yawned after a long day in Paris.
"Well, this is gonna be a long day.." Jack muttered, slumping in his desk chair, groaning.
Dwight looked up from his computer "How were your meetings, Halpert?" he asked, adjusting his glasses.
"Oh, it was good, just came back from a meeting in Paris, then I just spent the day there", Jack said, stretching in his seat.
"Ooo Paris! Must have been wonderful," Phyllis said, smiling.
"It was, after that meeting, I just sat at my hotel, had a coffee and ate fresh pastries", Jack said, chuckling "They were way too good"
Pam laughed. "They must have been good," she said, smiling.
"Yep, I couldn't stop eating them", Jack laughed, pushing his hair back.
This was all true; Jack literally couldn't stop eating pastries.
____
Hours passed, and everyone continued working as usual. Phones rang, people talked, printers beeped, and the scent of stale coffee lingered in the air.
Jack, however, was in the warehouse doing his daily workout session, wearing the same gym outfit, blasting music, and generally getting a good workout in.
Sweat dripped down his face as he roundhouse kicked a dummy so hard its head flew off.
Jack's chest rose and fell heavily as his music pumped through his earbuds.
A few hours passed as Jack eventually flopped onto a bench and downed a bottle of water, his chest rising and falling heavily.
"Man, that was a good workout, " he muttered, wiping sweat off his face with a towel.
Jack then scrolled through social media on his phone, his music still blaring in his ears.
Soon, his phone flooded with messages from his friends about why he was acting so strangely.
"God, these theories are ridiculous, but also kinda funny", Jack muttered, amused at the theories.
Jack then put his phone away as he returned to his workout, before freshening up and changing into a light blue button-down shirt, black suit trousers, and black Oxford shoes.
He then returned to the office and stretched as he resumed work at his desk, still listening to music, feeling at peace for once.
____
A few hours later, Jack's phone buzzed; the caller ID displayed Patrick's name. Not wanting to be caught, Jack went into a private conference room, locking the door behind him and closing the blinds.
Jack then answered the phone.
"Hey, Patrick, got another mission for me?" He asked
"Yeah, it's a doozy. Think you can handle it?" Patrick said, smirking through the phone.
"Oh, I can, lay it on me", Jack challenged, laughing.
"Your next mission is in Venice, where you'll be stopping an assassination attempt against the prime minister of Italy", Mike chimed in.
"Ooo fun", Jack said, smirking.
"Yeah, you'll be attending a fancy dinner as a guest", Greer said, cutting into the conversation.
Jack pushed his hair back "Ah, fun", he said, amused.
"So what excuse are you gonna make this time?" Patrick chimed in, smirking.
"I don't know", Jack sighed "Everyone's noticing how weird I'm acting, and honestly, Dwight's doing his investigations", he said, chuckling dryly.
"Don't worry, Jack, we'll get through this together", Mike said softly.
Jack smiled as he said, "Lay on the briefing properly"
Greer explained the details of the mission, Jack being an undercover guest going to the Prime Minister's house and enjoying a party while also gathering information on who would try to kill him.
Soon, Jack was ready for the mission.
A few minutes later, Jack ended the call, opened the blinds again, and left the room.
Dwight, ever so vigilant, narrowed his eyes at Jack.
"Jim, where were you?" Dwight asked.
"Oh, private call with a client", Jack said, shrugging.
Dwight eyed him suspiciously but seemed to accept what Jack had said.
"Alright", Dwight said, going back to his work.
Jack went back to his work, smirking, excited for the mission.
A few hours later, Michael had the idea of everyone going on a corporate retreat.
"I would, Michael, but I can't, I've got so much work to finish, I'm swamped enough as it is", Jack half lied.
Michael took the bait like a fish and let Jack miss the retreat.
Everyone whined and groaned about it as Jack smirked.
"Thanks, Michael, you're the best"
____
"Okay, you got the briefing?" Greer said through the earpiece, as music played in the background, people chatted and mingled with guests.
Jack nodded, sipping some champagne. "Yeah, I got it", he muttered, looking around the vast mansion full of guests, everything glinting in the light like a fairytale.
"Anything suspicious?" Mike asked.
"No, nothing so far", Jack said, letting out a long sigh.
"Good. Let's keep it that way," Patrick said, typing away as he looked into everyone's backgrounds.
Jack chatted with guests, laughing at jokes and generally having a good time.
____
"Everyone enjoying the retreat so far?" David from corporate asked with a smile
Everyone mumbled an answer, apart from Dwight and Michael, who were buzzing with excitement.
"Where's Jim?" David asked Michael, "I thought he'd be joining us?"
"Oh, he's swamped with paperwork, so he had to miss it", Michael explained casually.
David nodded. "Ah, that's fair," he said, continuing the retreat.
____
"FOR FUCK SAKE, WHY MUST EVERY MISSION END IN GUN FIRE AND ME NEARLY DYING!" Jack whined as everyone was screaming as intruders entered the mansion, causing chaos and destruction, nearly killing the Italian prime minister by shooting at him with their gun. Luckily, Jack and a group of security guards escorted him and his family out of the building safely and soundly.
"Jack, every mission is like that", Greer said with a tired dad sigh.
"I KNOW BUT WHYYY I JUST WANTED TO HAVE A NORMAL ONE AND MAYBE GET GELATO AFTER" Jack pouted like a child as he shot an intruder in the head.
Greer facepalmed.
Why is my work son so stupid?
"Don't worry, Jack, you can do this", Mike said, trying to hype him up.
Jack then put an earbud in his ear and blasted 'All Eyes On You' by Smash Into Pieces through it as he beat up the intruders, singing as if he were in a concert.
Patrick grinned, watching through the security cameras on his laptop, "Looks like he's having fun again"
Greer groaned, "This boy is mentally insane", he muttered.
Mike laughed, "Yeah, but he's good at being mentally insane."
Meanwhile, Jack was trying to keep himself alive.
His mind was racing with a plan, praying he didn't run out of bullets.
Jack darted out of the building, his body screaming at him to rest, but there was no time to rest at all.
The agent stole a very fancy sports car and sped off out of the building. Meanwhile, the intruders became angry that their plan had failed, but they tried to catch up with him. However, they failed as Jack sped off, coughing, his body finally resting for once.
"Fucking never doing that again...my body hurts so much" Jack groaned, leaning back into the car seat as he drove off.
Jack sighed deeply, music playing in his earbuds as he drove away, feeling better for once. He decided to relax and do some touristy things.
Chapter 8: The Office Mole Manhunt
Chapter Text
A few days later, Jack came back to the office, groaning internally.
He flopped onto his desk chair, facepalming onto his keyboard, just wanting to go home and sleep.
Dwight looked at Jack, who had faceplanted onto his keyboard groaning.
"Jim, are you okay? You sound like a zombie"
Jack mumbled, "I'm fine, Dwight, just dead inside"
Dwight narrowed his eyes "Really?" he asked.
Jack just groaned again as Michael bounded in screaming about something bad.
"EVERYONE SOMEONE STOLE IMPORTANT SALES DOCUMENTS!" He screamed.
Everyone gasped, and Dwight was already on the case to help Michael however he could.
Meanwhile, Jack couldn't care less as he groaned into his keyboard, wishing he were at home sleeping.
____
"How did they even get access?" Angela asked worriedly.
"I don't know! But I need to find out who!" Michael flailed in terror.
Dwight interrogated everyone, but the co-workers said they all did nothing wrong, which, after a bunch of movie-style interrogation methods, which consisted of putting a lamp in someone's face, good cop bad cop, reverse psychology and a lot more, but none of it worked, as everyone was telling the truth all while looking annoyed.
Jack groaned as he slowly looked up from the keyboard, yawning.
"Jim, did you have anything to do with this?!" Dwight shouted angrily.
"Nope, and let's be honest, Dwight, why would I steal important numbers that I don't even need when my numbers are good already?" Jack deadpanned, looking and feeling dead inside.
Dwight opened and closed his mouth like a fish out of water, but soon realised Jack was telling the truth, so he left to figure out what happened.
Jack flopped his head back onto his desk as he nearly fell asleep from doing two jobs at once due to being tired from doing his CIA missions, which were tiring, but he loved doing them even if they were dangerous.
____
A few hours later, while Jack was getting coffee, he saw something out of the corner of his eye.
Curious, he went to see what it was, and he found the missing numbers on a shelf nearby in the breakroom.
Jack sighed, grabbing the folder as he walked into the office, where he saw Michael frantic.
"Michael", Jack shouted, "I found our documents; they were in the breakroom. You probably misplaced them or left them there" He then handed the document to him.
Michael looked sheepish. "Oh, I-uh, thanks, Jim," he said, flustered.
Jack just shrugged and went back to his desk, working as he sipped his coffee.
Everyone looked annoyed at Michael and Dwight, but that annoyance faded as they went back to their work as usual.
Jack drank his coffee like it was his lifeline as he let the caffeine kick into his system, which made him sigh in relief, but in all fairness, he was very dead inside.
____
The day passed as usual, with Jack trying not to feel too dead inside, even though it was hard for him.
Jack yawned, sipping his coffee as he rubbed his eyes.
As he typed up some reports, he drank his coffee like it was the elixir of life. He sighed deeply, wishing he were in bed sleeping.
The hours passed as Jack finally got to go home, and he sighed in relief as he darted home.
____
"Ugh, finally..." Jack mumbled, entering his house, locking the door as he went upstairs and put his stuff away.
Jack changed into a baggy t-shirt and sweatpants, feeling relaxed as he got into his bed and watched TV.
"Now this is the life", Jack mumbled, feeling at peace as he did absolutely nothing.
Jack didn't even check his phone, which was charging peacefully on his bedside table.
All he did was watch TV and switch off his brain from work and all the bullshit he had to deal with.
Soon after, he eventually turned off the TV and fell asleep within seconds as he snuggled into the warm covers of his bed, not bothering to get up.
____
'Hey, everyone! No need to come into work today; you've all been working extra hard, so take a few weeks off - you all deserve it! :D'
Jack fumbled for his phone as he groggily checked the message from Michael.
He smiled sleepily, typing a reply and falling back asleep after putting his phone on silent.
Jack snuggled into his pillow and snored, not wanting to get out of bed.
His whole body was in pain; he winced every time he tossed and turned in his bed, but he didn't care. He just wanted to sleep and relax, and these few weeks off were the perfect time for him to do that.
Chapter 9: Michael's Self Defence Class
Chapter Text
"Hey, everyone! Hope you all had a lovely break, and I've got something planned which corporate agreed to," Michael beamed excitedly.
"We'll be having a class on self-defence skills!" Michael continued eagerly. "Taught by me, of course"
Everyone was surprised but intruiged by how everything would go.
Jack stiffened; he couldn't risk being exposed for his CIA training; he knew he would be good at this, but he didn't want to risk it.
A few minutes later, Jack's phone buzzed. It was Mike. He then went to the same empty office, closed and locked the door, pulled the blinds down, put his earbuds in and answered the call.
"Guys, we've got a problem, Michael wants to do a 'self-defence' class, and if I go, I'll basically be exposing myself", Jack said, pacing around the empty office.
"I got an idea, Jack, why don't you just pretend you took self-defence classes? I mean, it's not a lie, isn't it?" Mike suggested.
Jack mulled it over, "I mean, it could work", he said, amused.
"Hopefully it does, we'll let you know when your next mission is", Mike said.
Jack nodded, ending the call as he sighed deeply. He then left the office, returning it to normal as he went back to his desk.
____
Jack sighed deeply, going back to work on his sales reports.
"So, Jim, will you be going to the self-defence class?" Dwight asked curiously.
"Probably I'm not sure", Jack said, yawning.
Dwight just nodded, going back to his work.
Jack yawned as he went back to typing up some reports.
Everyone was doing their work and minding their own business, all the while wondering how Michael's class would go.
----
"Alright, everyone! Hope you're excited, I sure am!" Michael said eagerly, buzzing with excitement.
Michael had corporate rent out a massive gym so they could do the class properly.
Everyone was excited as Michael started to give a demonstration on how to karate kick a dummy, and needless to say, not everyone did so well.
"Ugh, how can anyone do this!" Daryll asked panting heavily.
Everyone complained about how hard it was, but they were happy to have given it a try.
Then it was Jack's turn.
"Go ahead, Jim", Michael said eagerly.
Jack sighed, taking a deep breath, rolling his shoulders back, and he ran to the dummy and did a spin kick, which made it topple sideways.
"Heh, not bad", Jack muttered to himself.
"H-how did you do that?!" Toby asked in shock.
"Oh, I took self-defence classes when I was younger, guess they came in handy", Jack said casually, which wasn't much of a total lie.
Everyone was shocked but impressed as the class continued, with Jack being in his element.
Michael tried to copy Jack's moves, but they didn't go as planned. He ended up falling on the ground, but he ended up laughing.
Jack helped him up "Not bad, Michael", he said, laughing.
The day went smoothly, despite a few bumps in the road, and ultimately turned out to be a good one.
____
Jack finally went home, going straight to bed, freshened up and then changed into something more comfortable as he got into bed, and sighed in relief.
He turned on the TV and just sank into his pillows, switching his brain off for the night.
"Ah, much better...." He mumbled, staring at the TV screen.
Jack ended up watching TV until he fell asleep, feeling at peace for once.
Chapter 10: The Corporate Office Inspection
Chapter Text
Jack was at his desk typing some big report when Toby came into the room looking a little nervous.
"Everyone, we're going to be having an office inspection from corporate, so please be professional," Toby said desperately.
Angela rolled her eyes. "Toby, we'll be fine, we just need to make sure no one does anything stupid," she said flatly.
"Thank you for your insight, Angela, but please, just for today, act normal", Toby pleaded as everyone reluctantly nodded.
Jack couldn't care less as he continued to work on a few documents, already itching for another mission to go on.
Soon his wish was granted when his phone buzzed. It was a text from Greer.
'Jack, we've got another mission for you. Details will be explained at HQ, you know the drill."
Jack smirked, texting back a quick message.
'Understood, Sir.'
Jack put his phone away in his pocket, already planning a way to leave the building, but kept it to himself as he went back to work.
Dwight's eyes narrowed as he looked at Jack.
"Halpert, what are you planning?" Dwight asked suspiciously.
"Oh, nothing, just thinking about random stuff, nothing interesting." Jack lied smoothly.
Dwight's eyes flickered up and down, trying to figure out if Jack was lying to him. Soon, he sighed and said, "I see," before returning to his work.
Jack sighed in relief as the office inspector came in a few minutes later.
____
The inspector was a man in his mid-forties, dressed in a sharp suit, holding a clipboard, and looking ready for business. His light brown hair was combed neatly, and his dark brown eyes glinted with authority.
"Ah, you must be the inspector, nice to meet you, I'm Michael Scott, regional manager", Michael said, going to greet him as he extended his hand.
The inspector smiled at him, shaking his hand. "Nice to meet you, Mr Scott. I'm Mr Oakwood. I'll be doing the inspection today."
The inspection started, as Mr Oakwood took notes and asked questions, which was going quite well.
Jack played his facade before sneaking out of the building again and getting into his black SUV, driving off with a giggle.
Jack then received a call from Greer, which he answered on speaker.
"Okay, what's my next mission?" Jack asked, still driving.
"We've got a big case, we'll give you the details at HQ"
Jack nodded as he got to HQ a few minutes later. He got out of his car and entered the building, determined to embark on a new mission.
"Okay, so what's my next mission? I'm so bored", Jack said, rolling his shoulders back.
"Damn, you're that bored, huh?" Mike asked with a smirk.
Jack laughed, "Yep, now what's the mission?"
"You'll be stopping a heist in Spain", Greer explained "A group of people known as the silent diablos are planning to steal a dossier full of classified information, it's known as the 'Nuclear File'; if that gets into the wrong hands, everyone is fucked"
Jack nodded "So what will I be doing?" he asked.
"You'll be going undercover as a guest. Make sure you figure out their plan before anything bad happens, and try not to end up causing chaos," Greer said, crossing his arms.
Jack chuckled, "No promises," he said, smirking, which made Greer want to roll his eyes and sigh.
Patrick handed him a dossier "Here, this has everything you need to know", he said.
Jack took the dossier, opened it and started flicking through all the information he needed to know.
"Alright, when do I start?" Jack asked after reviewing the evidence.
"Tonight, I'll send over the details", Greer said as Jack nodded, leaving the building as he went back to the office.
____
"Jim? Where were you?" Toby asked, seeing Jack walk back into the office.
"Oh, I just went out to grab lunch, needed some air", Jack said casually.
Toby's eyes narrowed, but he shrugged it off "Okay, that's fine"
"How did the inspection go?" Jack asked curiously.
"Oh, surprisingly well, in all fairness, some chaos happened, but it wasn't too bad", Toby explained with relief.
"That's good, so nothing ended up burning or anything?" Jack teased with a laugh.
"Nope, thank god", Toby replied, laughing.
Jack went back to his desk, working on some spreadsheets and already planning out what he needed to do for his mission.
Chapter 11: The HR Training Fiasco
Chapter Text
"Everyone! We've got HR Training today," Toby said, smiling as everyone groaned.
"Seriously? HR Training? That sucks," Kelly said, rolling her eyes as she fixed up her makeup, glaring at him from her compact mirror.
"Look, we have to do it, so let's just get it over with", Dwight said, crossing his arms.
"But don't we have actual work to finish?" Oscar asked, "I mean, we can't just not ignore our responsibilities"
"Oh, don't worry about that, you can always work tomorrow," Toby explained, smiling.
Everyone groaned in absolute annoyance.
____
"Hey, where's Jim?" Pam asked, raising an eyebrow, "Wasn't he supposed to be in today?"
"I'll text him", Andy said as he texted Jack on the office group chat and sent the message.
'Jim? Where are you? We have an HR training session today.
Soon, a message pinged on everyone's phones. It was from Jack.
Phyllis read the message aloud.
'Sorry, guys can't come in today, too stressed about work, taking a few weeks off in Spain, call it a mental health cleanse, and don't worry, I finished my work already so no need to worry about that, and I already completed all the HR training a few days ago, corporate has records of it already :)'
Michael texted back, 'No worries, Jim! Have fun! Send pictures :D'
"Well, let's get this started", Toby said eagerly.
Everyone pouted, wishing they were in Spain or anywhere else.
"That's so unfair, I bet Jim's having so much fun in Spain", Angela mumbled, annoyed.
____
Jack was wearing a light blue, buttoned-up shirt, light brown trousers, a white blazer, and light brown Oxford shoes. He texted Michael back, sipping a glass of wine 'Thanks, Michael. Will do :)' before putting his phone away inside his blazer, the message he had sent earlier was actually valid, so he didn't have to bother to lie.
He chatted with many wealthy individuals, laughing at their jokes and having a good time, while also staying focused on his mission.
Jack walked around the building, which was a gorgeous vineyard situated on a lavish property frequented by numerous famous and wealthy individuals, as well as influential politicians and other notable figures.
"God, this wine is amazing", Jack mumbled, sipping his red wine "I'm in love with this mission", he said to himself as he continued his mission.
Jack sent a few pics, nothing too incriminating or revealing to his mission, just him having a nice time in a fancy vineyard as a regular tourist on holiday.
"Ugh, I bet Jim's having so much fun", Ryan said, pouting, crossing his arms.
"Yeah, he's probably having the time of his life", Kelly whined "It's not fair."
The HR training was going well, but everyone was still jealous of Jack being on holiday.
Erin groaned, "Oh come on, he just sent pics, Jim's at a fancy vineyard drinking wine."
Everyone looked at the pictures on their phones, seeing Jack smiling with a glass of Wine, with the caption 'Hanging out at a fancy vineyard, Wine's amazing! Wish I could take a bottle home lol #winelover #lovinglife # bestmentalhealthcleanseever'
Everyone was jealous as they scrolled through all the photos Jack was sending.
____
Jack smirked, taking out his phone as messages came flooding in from his friends, each message showing how jealous they were.
'Dwight: That's so unfair, Halpert! I bet you're getting so many connections.'
'Erin: Ugh, that vineyard looks beautiful'
'Michael: Have fun, Jim! Looks cool! :D'
'Kelly: This is so unfair, you're so lucky, Jim! This would be perfect for my socials!'
'Andy: Okay, now you're just rubbing it in, Jim'
'Stanley: Looks lovely, Jim, very beautiful, might go to Spain with my family one day'
'Ryan: Are you hanging out with rich people? That's so unfair.
'Pam: Looks beautiful, Jim! Have an amazing time :)'
'Angela: I wish I were there. That place looks gorgeous.
'Oscar: Lucky you, Jim, I wish I were at a vineyard drinking wine'
'Phyllis: Looks stunning, Jim, the view is gorgeous! :)'
'Daryll: Man, Jim, you look like you're having the time of your life'
'Kevin: Looks awesome! Bet the food in Spain is fantastic!'
'Toby: Wow, Jim! Super jealous, have tons of fun and send more pics!'
'Meredith: Have an amazing time, Jim!"
'Creed: Enjoy your break!"
Jack laughed as more messages flooded in, and he casually texted them back.
'Lol, it's beautiful, and yes, Kevin, the food is absolutely delicious, I so recommend coming here, and will do Toby :)'
____
Jack went back to his mission, sipping some more wine. Soon, a powerful mafia family arrived, known as the Rosarios. According to Jack's research, they also collaborated with the Silent Diablos, assigning them tasks that were often detrimental to their interests.
The agent sighed as he downed his Wine and put the glass down on a nearby table before casually looking around whilst keeping his cover.
Soon, he saw the family go inside the house as Jack casually walked in, and he hid behind a wall to listen to the terms of the deal being made.
"So you have the file?" A smooth voice asked.
"Not yet, but I do know where it is," another gruff voice replied.
"Good, get it for me," the first voice said firmly.
"Yeah, yeah, I will, " the second voice said dismissively.
Jack listened intently, trying to stay quiet. He then left to update Greer about the situation.
"Just be careful, okay?" Greer said, "We don't want any casualties"
Jack nodded, "Will do." He muttered, gathering more evidence.
____
"Ugh, this HR thing absolutely sucks!" Erin complained like a child.
"I know! Like, come on, this is annoying," Kelly added, complaining.
Everyone was complaining about the HR meeting and the fact that Jack wasn't there, having a fun holiday in Spain.
Soon, Michael bounded in, "Everyone enjoying the HR training?" he asked.
"I guess, but I'm still jealous of Jim!" Andy grumbled.
"I bet he's having the time of his life", Daryll mumbled enviously.
____
"Welcome, everyone. I am so glad you could all join me today", Antonio Rosario, the head of the crime family, said, beaming at the table.
The other crime families, the Vincezos, the Alrics, the Bevenvietos, and the Lucianos, AKA the most powerful families in Spain.
Jack was hiding behind the wall as he listened to the conversation.
"So what business are we dealing with today?" A member of the Vincezo crime family asked.
"We are here to discuss the security of the 'Nuclear File' so no one else can get their hands on it", Antonio explained.
"I see, I think the file should be secured with my family, we have the best security, " a member of the Bevenvieto crime family said, tucking her hair behind her ear.
"Oh, please," A member of the Alric crime family scoffed ", It should be with my family; our security is better"
One of the Luciano crime family members spoke up, "But what about the CIA? They'll stop at nothing to take the file from anyone who even has it"
Another member of the Rosario Crime family, Antonio's wife Diane, spoke up, "He does have a point," she said, sipping some wine.
"Ugh, you're right", Antonio groaned, rubbing his eyes "We'll just have to up security, and I know that the silent diablos will get it for us"
"Are you sure? Because what if they take it for themselves?" A member of the Alric crime family asked. "I know for a fact they'll keep it or sell it to the highest bidder on the dark web and the black market"
Jack silently continued to listen in, recording everything through his comm link discreetly.
"They won't betray me. I know it, because if they did. They'll regret it," Antonio said firmly.
Everyone was quiet and started to question whether the silent diablos would hold up their end of the bargain.
"Anyway, let's just discuss who will take the file and keep it secure", Diane said, redirecting the conversation, but everyone was still on edge with their own thoughts.
Jack smirked from behind the wall as he decided to use it to his advantage "Oh, now I've got the ace up my sleeve", he mumbled.
He slipped away as everyone kept arguing about who would take the file.
Meanwhile, with Patrick's help, he had located the file, which was stored in Antonio's safe in his office. There were cameras, but Patrick had temporarily disabled them so Jack wouldn't get caught, making the cameras appear to have temporarily glitched, which didn't raise any suspicion.
"What's the code?" Jack whispered as Patrick typed on his keyboard.
"9763", Patrick replied as Jack punched in the code.
The light on the keypad flickered green as he smirked and opened the safe door, grabbing the file, which was in a black steel briefcase.
Jack closed the safe door and casually walked out, grinning as Patrick reactivated the cameras.
The agent went down the hallway, making sure the silent diablos didn't take the file off him.
Jack then noticed some suspicious people, who seemed off to him, but he kept it to himself.
He then recognised their tattoos on their necks, which were devils with crosses on their mouths.
"Great, they're already here", Jack mumbled, annoyed.
"Jack, be careful, you know what that gang is capable of, so please don't end up in a killing spree", Greer said firmly.
"Don't worry, I'll try my best", Jack said, keeping his cover.
____
"How in the name of all that is holy did you do that?" Oscar asked
Meredith shrugged, "I mean, you leave Michael unsupervised for five seconds and this happens"
Michael had, of course, tied Toby to a chair and put a sock in his mouth because he had apparently 'annoyed him'
"I swear I bet Jim's having a ton of fun in Spain", Creed muttered.
"Yeah, I bet he's having tapas and drinking wine", Phyllis muttered.
Everyone continued the seminar, minding their own business, as Pam freed Toby, who just looked annoyed at Michael, but didn't do much about it.
____
"Where's the case?!" Antonip shouted angrily, looking in his safe, realising it was gone.
"I-I don't know!" His wife replied, freaking out.
All the families were freaking out, including the Silent Diablos, who were annoyed it was gone.
Jack then walked into the room, smirking, "Looking for this?" he said, amused, holding the case.
"Who the hell are you!" Diane shrieked
"Jack Ryan, CIA, and all of you idiots are under arrest, and I'm taking this somewhere safe", Jack said, smirking.
"NO! WE ARE NOT GOING TO JAIL!!!" Diane shrieked in anger, but fear was also visible in her eyes.
Jack laughed, "Yeah, you're all going to jail."
The families got out their guns and started shooting at Jack, who deflected all the shots using the briefcase while shooting at the families and the bodyguards.
Jack darted out of the building as gunshots rang out, as well as screams and panicked people.
"Oh, for god sake," the agent groaned.
Jack tapped his comm link "Greer, I got the briefcase, but it's now a full-on gun spree", he said quickly, shooting at the goons as well as the silent diablos who had also resorted to attacking him.
"Good, but be careful, backups on the way to arrest the families as well as getting civilians out safe and sound", Greer said as Patrick sent out backup.
He kept running around, shooting at enemies whilst keeping the case in hand.
Jack darted out of the mansion, trying not to get shot at, as he ran to his black SUV, darted inside and drove off with the briefcase in hand.
Jack breathed heavily, finally getting out of a massive mess as well as taking a case load of wine for the road he took earlier, because well, why not.
Chapter 12: The Office Team Building Bombshell
Chapter Text
"Hey Jim, how was Spain?" Phyllis asked as Jack walked into the room.
"Oh, Phyllis, it was absolutely amazing, and I brought gifts for everyone", Jack said as he handed everyone gifts, which included art supplies, postcards, fridge magnets, clothes, jewellery and a lot more, which everyone loved.
"Jim, this is so sweet of you! Thanks so much," Pam said, smiling as everyone kept saying thank yous.
"Oh, you're welcome, glad you like them", Jack said, smiling as everyone gushed over their new gifts.
Jack sat down at his desk and rubbed his eyes as he yawned so hard his jaw cracked.
Meanwhile everyone continued working, answering phones and generally doing their jobs, or at least looking like they were working.
