You can't be honest, can you

Summary:

Now that Zant is dead and Ganondorf vainquished, Midna can finally retrieve her true form and return to her realm. But before leaving, there's one thing she wants more than anything... and it's seeing the always composed mask worn by princess Zelda crack. However, the task seems a bit more arduous than anticipated... and if Midna isn't careful, she might catch feelings along the way.

Or: Serial seducer Midna tries to make ultimate tsundere Zelda fall for her

Notes:

Hi! This will be a series of short slices of life in order, and each representing a snippet of these two's everyday life as they struggle with their feelings (and have some sex on the way). It's my first time writing some smut in english, so don't expect anything crazy about these scenes... as for the schedule for posting... let's say I'll update once I have one chapter written. This shouldn't be too long of a story, but it isn't my main project for the moment.
Anyway, hope you'll enjoy!

Chapter 1: You can't be honest

Summary:

Midna wants to catch the princess' attention, but might end up crossing a line if she doesn't tone it down...

Chapter Text

-What? Midna had said, with her usual cunning smile. Say something! Am I so beautiful that you've no words left?

Indeed, Link couldn’t utter anything more than a few slurred words, drowned in the vibrant flush of his cheeks, as he laid his eyes on Midna’s true form for the first time. The twili had to admit: she’d waited for this moment for a while, and kept wondering what would be the young hero’s reaction when he would finally understand that the little imp was, in reality, the most gorgeous woman in the twilight realm. Midna wasn’t full of herself; she had earned that title in the beauty pageant held each year in her palace, at the heart of the dimension she was from. Moreover, she’d kept this title every year since her first attempt, no other twili woman coming remotely close to her charm and beauty, even though most of them probably had a more agreeable personality, she could admit that much. But personality wasn’t taken into account in this pageant, so she could allow herself to be her snarky, sarcastic self without too much controversy.

As such, she’d expected Link to be flabbergasted, lost for words, absolutely enthralled when he’d first see her true appearance. This gorgeous face, plump lips, fire-coloured hair… her curvy body dressed in twili fashion, with far less fabric and a lot more body paint than light realm people were used to… Link was taking all of these details in, his face red as a tomato, and Midna could only revel in this reaction.

-Don’t look too much… she’d added. You going to make me blush.

-S-sorry. The young hero answered, averting his eyes, but Midna wasn’t fooled; he’d be thinking of her differently from now on.

-Now that this is all over, and Ganondorf is dead, we ought to return to Castle Town. The Resistance is waiting for our report on the matter, and the people have been longing for an end to this war.

The moment Midna had been waiting for for so long was cut short by a serious, solemn voice that made the twili princess roll her eyes. Zelda, leader of Hyrule, didn’t seem fazed by her appearance, and was already planning what should happen now, not even letting them enjoy the sweet taste of victory any longer. The comparison between her poised, statuesque silhouette and Link’s obvious blush was stark, and it made Midna a tad frustrated. Sure, making a mess out of Link’s thoughts was funny, but it was also easy and expected. She hadn’t hoped for more from this little bumkin boy, who had only learned how beautiful men and women could be once he’d left his small herding village of Ordon. Zelda, however, was a true princess, a strong and wise ruler, always surrounded by the cream of hylian high society. Midna had never seen so much as a single twitch in her always composed expression, that she held in all circumstances… it felt like she was made out of marble. The most fine, beautiful marble there was, and sculpted by the most talented artist in the world, but still marble. And Midna had held the opinion that this marble would crack when she’d finally get her body back.

It obviously didn’t. Zelda’s battlescarred yet pretty face was as composed as ever, gazing at her like she was just what she’d expected, unflinching. Worse, she seemed oblivious to Link’s embarrassment as she urged him to stop holding his face in his hands, and to start heading back to Castle Town. And with this, the moment was gone, and Midna felt a rush of frustration. She knew Zelda wasn’t this stuck up inside. She’d hosted the princess’ soul in her own body for months. Even though Midna wasn’t able to read Zelda’s thoughts or memories at the time, she still could taste her feelings and emotions… and they were far more strong and diverse than this marble mask let out to be.

It was decided: Midna was going to make the princess’ heart falter before going home. This was a challenge worthy of her. There was no way this light realm princess wouldn’t feel anything when facing the most beautiful twili to ever walk the twilight realm.

***

Midna quickly realised her plan was somewhat petty and short sighted. First and foremost, and something she hadn’t considered before, but it was possible that the princess just couldn’t feel any attraction to anyone. Midna had met a few people like that, and realised that her charm was an utterly useless weapon against them. She didn’t take offence out of it, though; just like she enjoyed the company of both genders, it fell under reason that others were her polar opposite. The world was made out of opposites, after all. Secondly, Midna realised that pushing back her return to her own realm for such selfish reasons was unbecoming of her status. She was the Twilight Princess, after all, and her people needed her… sure, enjoying herself for some time in the light realm wasn’t an issue, but if Zelda wasn’t affected by her charms, then who knows how long she’d end up staying, trying to make her heart flutter?

As days went by, as Link went home to Ordon, following in his girlfriend’s steps like the obedient puppy he was, and as Zelda was swarmed under work and couldn’t care less about Midna’s predicament, the twilight princess’ resolve weakened. This wasn’t remotely as fun as she thought it would be, and she was feeling homesick. Zelda would be the last remaining unconquered heart she’d leave in both the light and the twilight realm, but it was fitting in a way, as they were equal to each other, like reflections in a mirror, the pendent of one another in their respective realms. As such, Midna managed to get the princess’ attention for a few minutes between two meetings to state her intentions to finally head back home.

And there, she saw it. A crack in the mask . Zelda’s always razor focused eyes widened ever so slightly that Midna wondered if she’d imagined it. But the simple fact that she believed she’d seen it meant a lot. After all, no one would imagine a marble statue’s expression changing. Her suspicions seemed even more validated after hearing the hylian princess’ answer.

-I see. It would make sense that you’d like to return to your own realm. After all, those are how things should be… however, don’t leave without extending your thanks to the Hero and the Resistance. Without them, this victory couldn’t have been achieved. It stands to reason they should be made aware of your departure.

-Oh? Midna smiled cunningly. The puppy, I get it, but the Resistance too? They aren’t even aware of my existence, do you realise that?

Another crack. And a crucial lapse in judgement that wasn’t commonplace for the always composed princess. How could she forget that Midna had been hidden in Link’s shadow all this time, and that none of the Resistance members, although they were suspicious something was amiss, knew about her existence? This was an oversight Midna wasn’t going to let go of.

-I meant that they should be made aware of the crucial help you gave us. Zelda answered cleverly, trying to hide her small mishaps, but the twili’s cunning smile showed she wasn’t fooling her.

-Are you perhaps… trying to buy some time, princess? Midna cooed, her muscular, tattooed arm sliding along Zelda’s shoulders. Can’t get enough of me already?

-Don’t be ridiculous. The princess answered in her usual solemn tone, her mask firmly placed back on her face. I wouldn’t dare keep you away from your people and responsibilities on purpose. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a meeting to attend with the intendants.

-Right, right… Midna snarked, slowly letting go of the princess, but not without skimming the skin of her nape. See you later then, princess.

Zelda nodded, before resuming her path toward the meeting room, her majestic gait unaffected by the encounter. Yet, Midna had seen it. A cunning smile came to her lips, and she felt like her heart was trying to escape from her rib cage. It seemed like the ice queen of the Hyrule Kingdom did have feelings in the end. Now that changed everything. The challenge made her whole body shake. Maybe she ought to… postpone her visit to Ordon. She could always find and thank Link at a later date, after all…

***

-My, my, hello my dear princess. Midna hummed, her arm blocking the path Zelda was walking. You look regal today.

That was an oxymoron, Zelda always looked regal. Midna wouldn’t be surprised if her picture was used next to the definition of the word in whichever dictionary the hylians used. But, well, it couldn’t hurt to tell her how majestic she was, right? She was wearing her usual colours, gold and purple, which only made her look more statuesque. The golden tiara hugging her hairline made her refined traits stand out even more… she was beautiful, Midna had to admit that much. Not as much as herself, of course. She lacked the warmth of a smile, and also some curves here and there… not that Midna minded, of course. Men also lacked curves, and she’d never held them accountable for that.

-Why, thank you, Midna. Zelda answered her. What can I do for you today?

-Oh oh… are the light goddesses on my side today? Midna jested. The mighty princess Zelda has some time in her day for me?

-That isn’t guaranteed, as I am quite busy today. Zelda sighed, but without letting any hints of annoyance slipped through, if that's what she felt. However, it is also my duty to entertain my guests, so were you to have any request, I’d see what I could do about it.

Midna smirked, bending slightly so that her face reached the height of Zelda’s face, as the hylian was quite shorter than her.

-How about taking me on a tour around Castle Town, or your own fortress, hm? Or even the gardens, as I have yet to find the time to visit them. We could call it a date…

-A date? Zelda blinked, though not breaking her composure. Oh, what a fun joke, Midna. I’m afraid my responsibilities prevent me from wandering away for so long, unfortunately. However, I could find you a guide to-

-Hmm, don’t bother, princess. Midna smiled seducingly, her face inching closer and closer to Zelda’s, scrutinising her mask for any twitch, any faltering. If it ain’t with you, then I see no point to it.

-That’s… unfortunate. Zelda retorted, a professional smile on her lips. Although the invitation is rather tempting, I’ll have to decline for the time being.

-And when will the time be good for it? Midna pressed the princess.

-I’m afraid I will be busy for the foreseeable future, I can’t promise anything before you return to the twilight realm.

-Oh it’s okay, it turns out I’m not in a rush to go back. Midna grinned.

-W-What?

-Can’t wait for this date, princess. The twili whispered close to her pointy ear. I promise you’ll enjoy every second of it.

Midna took a step back, leaving Zelda’s personnel space that she’d been slowly and slowly invading, and tried to get a glimpse of the princess’ reaction. To her regret, the hylian’s expression showed no sign of surprise, embarrassment, or even anger, as it was as composed as always. However, Zelda stayed surprisingly still, her eyes fixated on something distant and invisible far behind Midna, which led the twili to frown slightly and wave her hand in front of the princess’ face.

-Huuuh… hello?

-R-right. Zelda snapped back to her usual self. I am deeply sorry for this, I was… somewhere else for a second. What were you saying?

Midna sighed, and let her go about her business, already planning her next move.

-What might you be working on that’s so interesting? The twili cooed, leaning over Zelda’s work desk and inspecting the mountain of scrolls, books and seals scattered on the lacquered wood surface. Wow, tax revenue for the Lanaryu region… seems utterly boring.

-It might seem that way to you, but it still is important work that has to be completed. The princess retorted, snatching back the piece of parchment Midna had taken from her desk.

-Doesn’t change what I said, though… The twili pointed out. It can be important and boring.

-Then why don’t you help? Zelda asked. Since you seemed quite bored already, as you spend your time bothering me during my work.

Midna smirked. She was slowly but surely managing to get under Zelda’s skin, which was no small feat, as the princess seemed hellbent on never treating anyone differently. Yet, a whole week of following her every move and jumping on her at any occasion had started to erode the steel resolve of the hylian, and this snarky comment was proof of it. Midna had quickly realised that simply trying to seduce Zelda wasn’t going to work… so she had to find a way to break her barriers first, to be more accessible… but she also had to stop at the right time, before making an enemy out of the regent of the light realm. It was a thin line she was walking on, but Midna enjoyed every second of the challenge it offered her.

-Oh no, I couldn't take you away from your precious work, princess. Midna answered, sarcasm oozing from every pore of her skin. Besides, watching you is plenty of fun, I’m not bored in the slightest.

-Well, I would appreciate it if you could watch me in silence then.

-Oh for sure, I can do that. Midna answered gingerly, a smirk still on her lips.

Zelda looked at her, eyes filled with suspicions, and it was already so much more entertaining than the cole, regal gazes she gave everyone else. She was special … as in, she was annoying the princess of this land far more than anyone else, sure, but annoying people had always been Midna’s specialty. She thought Zelda could learn a lot from how she’d handled her affairs in the Twilight Realm, before Zant’s betrayal. Delegating was a skill in itself, and allowed a far smoother running administration than what she’d witnessed in Hyrule, that was for sure. That was also a reason why she trusted her people to do fine even in her absence; they knew how to handle the realm. Whereas if Zelda were to collapse from exhaustion, Hyrule would become a mess in a matter of days…

-Good… Zelda said, almost failing to hide the relief she felt hearing Midna would be silent.

She should’ve expected things to be a bit more complicated than that. Everything was, with the twili princess involved. As the blonde hylian returned to her work, she felt a hand slowly running up from her hip to her belly, skimming against her purple dress, almost as faint as the morning breeze. It was like Midna’s hand wasn’t even touching her, and yet, it made the sensation all the more strong, paradoxically. The twili princess felt a rush of enjoyment when she saw Zelda’s pen stopping mid motion, even though her expression was as locked down as usual.

-Might I know what you are doing? She asked, her voice commanding as it always was.

But Midna didn’t answer. After all, she’d been asked to remain silent, and was adamant on listening to her hostess’ wishes… instead, she brought her second hand to gently rub her shoulder, before moving it closer and closer to the princess’ cleavage, until she decided to change plan and to grab her chin, making her look up into her eyes. Zelda’s icy eyes had melted, but Midna wasn’t sure what she saw inside them. They stayed there, staring at each other, for what seemed like minutes, and the twili princess started wondering if she was being tested. If Zelda believed she would let go first, she didn’t know how wrong she was. And Midna knew how to make someone surrender to her.

-Midna… Zelda warned in a tense voice, as the twili’s hand, who’d been resting on the princess’ belly, started inching down, slowly, discreetly, and yet the significance of this gesture eluded none of them.

Midna simply answered Zelda’s warning with an amused smile. She knew she’d stop before reaching the princess’ special place… she wasn’t that kind of person, she just enjoyed teasing her prey. However, Zelda didn’t know she’d stop… and that was all the spice of this little game.

Until suddenly, the marble fractured, revealing a harsh, burning lava that threatened to melt her down.

-ENOUGH! THIS IS TOO MUCH! Zelda erupted, her face distorted and red with anger.

Midna was so taken aback that she toppled over herself and fell on her butt, her skin hopefully protected by the softness of the intricately woven carpet covering the floor of Zelda’s study. As for the princess, she didn’t burn her to a crisp like Midna feared she would, neither did she call for the guards to escort her guest out. Instead, she stormed out of the room in a fury, not sparing a single glance behind her. And the twili princess was left to ponder the weight of her actions.

-Might have pushed a bit too far… She sighed, getting back up, but also feeling a thrill running along her spine. Although I have to admit, she’s crazy hot when she’s angry like that…

She longed to see that red, angry face again, those eyes spewing lightning, the unleashed power she’d felt, usually so well hidden under all of the marble layers Zelda had built around herself. But, well… maybe she’d have to stop this nonsensical courting now. She wasn’t here to make an enemy out of the ruler of Hyrule… they’d just ended the war, now was not the time to start a new one because she wanted to have some fun. Besides… she’d somewhat reached her goal, hadn’t she? She’d managed to crack this mask. Sure, she didn’t manage to seduce Zelda, but… well… moving the goalpost was also something she was really good at. Now was a time for diplomacy, and as such, apologies.

***

Midna scratched her head, her hand losing itself in the forest of her flamboyant, messy hair. All the guards had told her the same thing: Zelda had gone to her chamber, and no one was ever allowed to bother her there - not even her esteemed twili guest. Things looked a bit more dire than she’d expected if Zelda locked herself in her room without even finishing all the work she was so adamant on finishing usually… Midna had to apologise sooner than later. Besides, she’d been to the princess’ chamber before, when Link still held his puppy appearance and the Twilight was still invading Hyrule. It would be a quick visit. Just her telling Zelda she apologised for going too far, and then bailing. No one would know, and besides, it wasn’t like the guards could prevent her from doing it anyway. As such, Midna snapped her finger, and her corporal self slowly disintegrated into a myriad of dark, shadow particles, which traveled the corridors of Hyrule Castle until reaching a familiar door on top of one of the towers. The twilight princess’ body reformed itself on the porch of Zelda’s room, causing a small vibration of shadowy energy in the vicinity, enough at least to warn the princess of her arrival. The twili prepared herself. She wasn’t one to back down or apologise after a bad joke, usually, but she was smart enough to see when it was necessary to do so… until her sensitive, twili ears heard a faint cry coming from the princess’ room.

-M… Midna…

It was so faint, so weak, so unlike Zelda’s usual voice. It almost reminded Midna of her voice when she’d sacrificed her physical existence to save her. The twili princess felt a chill running down her spine, and all traces of amusement left her body. She wouldn’t allow Zelda to be hurt again. Not after everything they went through, not after everything she’d done for her… As a princess of light, Zelda could’ve left her to die and led the fight herself… and yet, she’d entrusted her with the mission of saving Hyrule with Link. Her. A twili. A descendent of the criminals banished to the twilight realm. Midna would never forget that. And she would smite down anyone trying to lay their hand on the princess - other than herself, of course.

As such, she barge in the chamber, an orb of potent shadow magic vibrating in her hands, her eyes even redder than they usually were, ready to disintegrate the assailant… until she heard an unfamiliar, extremely feminine shriek, and no one other than the princess in her room. A princess who was struggling to hide her nudity under the silken sheets of her own bed, her rosy cheeks, ragged breath and messy hair as exposed as the faint, adorable curve of one of her legs. Midna blinked a few times, the orb she’d been wielding dissipating in a wave of shadowy aura, before smirking cunningly.

-Oh my, princess… and here I thought you were calling for help.

-W-what are you doing here?! Leave this instant!

-Well, I could leave, but I wouldn’t forget what I saw… Midna pointed out, as she approached the bed in a sensual walk. Is this… what you meant by… “this is too much”?

Zelda seemed like she wanted to retort something, but Midna leaned over her, her hands sinking into the princess’ pillow on each side of her head, towering over her. Her expression of pure satisfaction and lust was on full display, just like Zelda’s small chest, that she was trying to hide with one arm. It was all so maidenlike, so pure and fragile, so different from the usually poised and regal leader of the Hyrule Kingdom…

-I can’t believe I’m doing this, but I have to thank the goddesses for creating a creature like you on this land. Midna cooed, as her face inched closer and closer to Zelda’s.

But far from leaning into it and admitting she’d been busted already, the princess protested.

-I-I was just venting out some… frustration, that’s all! You’ve been on my back all week, and I never got the occasion to let it all go. C-Can’t a woman have her privacy?

-Oh, sure , you were venting your frustration by… calling my name while touching yourself , hm? Midna smirked, her face now so close to Zelda’s she could feel her ragged breath against her skin.

-Y-yes, exactly. Zelda retorted, managing to regain some of her composure already. I was already thinking about how I’d handle you tomo- haah…

Midna didn’t let her come up with anymore excuses, tilting her own body to fall on her side on the bed, and letting her hand sink under the sheets and the princess’ legs, finding the place Zelda had been trying to hide from her. The hylian literally squirmed under her touch, using the arm she’d been using as camouflage for her breast to cover her mouth, while her other desperately clung to the sheets, as if holding them closer to her would dislodge Midna’s fingers, already tasting the royal love liquid.

-We can’t let all this pent up frustration unresolved, can we… Midna whispered in Zelda’s pointy ear, eliciting a shiver that made her own heartbeat accelerate. Let us see if we can work something out…

-W-wait! Zelda pleaded. I… I’m…

-You’re already so wet that stopping here would be a crime, princess. Midna added, biting slightly into the flesh of her ear while she slipped an arm under the princess’ back. And since I’m guilty of interrupting you, let me take responsibility.

Zelda couldn’t find the time to protest more, as Midna’s skilled fingers found their way to her small love knob and started rubbing it with vigor. Her body shook under the touch, while a moan escaped her lips despite how tightly her hand tried to keep them shut. Midna felt her heart pounding, her insides churning, a river of melting hot lava running down the bottom of her belly, as the princess’ back collided with her body in response to the stimulus. What was this feeling? She’d fucked many people before, including many women, although none of them were from the light realm… but none of them elicited such a reaction from her body, especially so early in the deed. She’d just started touching Zelda, but she already felt like her own crotch was itching for release…

-M-Midna! Zelda pleaded again, and the twili tried to hide her confusion with confidence.

-Tell me, princess. Do you want me to stop? Or do you prefer my fingers inside?

-I… I can’t! Y-you have to…

-Hmm I see… both, then.

Midna moved her finger so that her thumb stayed on Zelda’s bud, while her middle and ring fingers prodded the humid petals covering the entrance of the princess’ inner sanctum. The hylian’s eyes widened in shock, and stared at Midna, a hint of panic in them mixed with a touch of frenzy and desire. No words escaped her still covered lips, and the twili took it as her cue to keep going. The sheer intensity of Zelda’s moan, as her body bent against Midna’s chest, made the twili almost get off. She couldn’t believe it… she still hadn’t been touched, and yet… these reactions… this squirmy, humid, tight haven embracing her two fingers as if they’d been waited for… the gap between the always poised princess and the delicate maiden reacting as if she was touched for the first time… her eyes begging for more even if she refused to say it out loud… it was amazing. It was crazy. It made Midna so horny, so one edge, that she felt like her fingers were prodding her own intimacy, and not Zelda’s. Midna was baffled… she riled up the intensity of her fingers, squashing Zelda’s button while she stroked her inside’s sweet spots as if she’d always known them, and, when the princess body tensed up in the final moments before her orgasm, and her voice got even more powerful and awfully sexy, Midna felt her own insides being turned upside down as she got off herself.

Both princesses were left panting, sighing, on the awfully wet bed, in horrendously humid sheets, and Midna was still wondering how any of this could’ve happened. The warm, soft body of Zelda fitted perfectly into her strong arms. Her small breasts had the exact size of her hand. Her orgasmic cry had elicited an influx of horniness she didn’t remember ever experiencing. Midna knew Zelda was her pendant in this world, but she never expected it to go to this extent… where they such polar opposites they were perfectly compatible in all things? Was this the only explanation?

-Hum hum… Zelda cleared her throat, slowly escaping from Midna’s embrace and carefully covering every part of her body with her now sullied sheets. L-Let us be clear about something. T-This never happened! Alright?

-Waw… Midna blinked in sheer disbelief. And here you were squirming in awe under my touch less than five minutes ago.

-P-Please don’t say this. Zelda protested, her usual commanding expression being ruined by the intense blush on her cheeks.

-Hmm, let’s see… No, I think it did happen.

- What? How dare you-

Midna pounced on the hylian princess, their bodies colliding against each other, and she swiftly stole the blonde’s lips. It was nothing like she’d ever felt. It felt… right . Perfect. Sweet, juicy lips, soft skin, and even the feminine moans Zelda let out as she returned her kiss, her arms messing with Midna’s fiery hair, holding on to her like her life depended on it. The twili caressed her lower back and her naked butt with reverence, losing herself in the delicious lavender scent of the pristine princess. Eventually, they both let out of each other, and tried to catch their breath, gazing into each other’s eyes in realisation. But, well… if Midna had learned anything about Zelda, it was that she was stubborn.

-T-this is just a consequence of w-what happened earlier. I didn’t mean that.

-You mean a consequence of your climax?

-D-Don’t say this out loud! And yes, it is!

-Then why are you holding me like that, princess? Midna smirked, gesturing toward Zelda’s arm crossing behind her neck.

-I-It’s also just a consequence. Zelda declared, quickly bringing her arms back to hiding her own nudity as if she’d forgotten about it.

-I swear, princess… Midna sighed fondly. You really can’t be honest, can you…

Chapter 2: You like to scheme

Summary:

Midna discovers the snow covered Hyrule and yearns to explore the land. However, a strange threat pushed Zelda to close the gates of Castle Town. But... what exactly is that unknown threat?

Chapter Text

Midna wandered through the bustling streets of castle town, all bundled up in a thick, white coat she’d been offered by the princess. The twili had been a bit reluctant about this gift at first… after all, who needed so much fabric? And with such thickness? Twili fashion didn’t bother with these kinds of things, preferring to showcase their ornamental tattoos and body paintings rather than hiding their bodies under layers and layers of clothing… but it would have been impolite for her to refuse, so she’d accepted the impressive white coat. It didn’t even fit with her colour palette.

Currently though, she was so thankful she could have begged Zelda to offer her a second one. Hyrule was covered in a thick layer of strange, white, icy powder fallen from the sky, and sharp, freezing winds. Midna was so cold it was almost unbearable. She shivered, trembled and feared some of her body parts were close to falling off. Her fingers were blue instead of their usual greenish hue, and her bare feet sank into the infuriatingly cold layer of powder on the ground. People called it “snow”... and it was a feature of the world of light Midna didn’t enjoy too much. Hopefully, her thick coat allowed her a semblance of heat while she marched through the streets, cursing her own curiosity for pushing her to leave the comfort of the warm rooms of the castle.

She’d seen snow already, once. When she’d accompanied Link to the snow peaks, where the hero of shade had seemed a bit inconvenienced by it too. However, as she’d been stuck in her shadow form at that time, she’d simply told herself he was just a bit of a wimp, which was always a good guess when it came to the puppy. After all, how could a bit of wind and silver powder be that bad? Powder that turned into water when touched! It couldn’t be that bad, right? Well… it actually could, as she was learning. In fact, she now even wondered how Link had managed to bring them both to the snowpeak ruins before they turned into two weirdly shaped ice cubes. Maybe his puppy fur also helped him keep warm when he was using it… oh, how much she would’ve loved to be able to change into such a creature right now and enjoy the warmth of a thick natural coat of hair. She could change her appearance, but it was merely an illusion spell and wouldn’t change anything to her tolerance to the cold.

Yet… Midna somehow managed to enjoy the experience. Why? Well, despite the discomfort… everything seemed so different under the blanket of snow covering every little nook and cranny of castle town. The light realm was shining under the weak rays of the sun, shimmering like if a thousand diamonds had been spread on the ground. All sounds were muffled, bringing an eerie sense of quietness which reminded Midna of her own realm. The streets, usually filled to the brim, were far more sparsely populated, which allowed her to move freely, without bumping into people and having to interact with them. It all seemed so peaceful and beautiful… far closer to the idea she had of what the light realm looked like than what she’d seen when she first arrived in it. Tales of lands basked in white light, white trees, white sand, white rivers… far removed from what Hyrule actually looked like most days. But maybe these stories she’d been told so many times as a child recounted how the light realm looked while in its winter attire… In any case, she’d been eager to leave the castle the second she’d seen the beautiful landscape from the window of her room. And despite how harsh the conditions, how the snow was eating the soles of her feet, she couldn’t stop being in awe. She probably looked like a lunatic to the passersby, but, well… she didn’t care.

Or maybe they were just looking at her because they’d never seen a twili before. After all, most of Hyrule’s inhabitants never even realised how the twilight invaded their land and subjugated their princess. In fact, most of them didn’t even know the twilight realm was real. It was such a stark difference with how the twili thought about the light realm… every kid in the twilight realm yearned to feel the warmth of light on their skin once in their life. None knew it would burn them alive, just as Midna had under the scorching light of the spirits… Now at least, with her power retrieved, she was able to stand under the sun unbothered. But she was the only twili who was bestowed this privilege.

Midna slowly exhaled the warm air in her lungs, and admired the fleeting mist dancing around her lips. It almost looked like she was smoking something, she mused. She wondered how beautiful the Hyrule Fields would look like under this beautiful layer. And death mountain? Would it be too warm for the snow to stick there? What about the Zora’s domain? Would it freeze up again, like when she first discovered it? She couldn’t help but feel nostalgic about all these places she’d visited during her journey with the puppy. They were at war at the time, and didn’t have the time to enjoy their trip… but maybe now, since everything was over…

Well… Link was probably busy bedding his girlfriend, she thought. Asking him to leave with another woman could cause problems, even though Midna wondered how Ilia would react. But maybe it was wiser to not disturb them for something so trivial at the moment. She could ask the princess, instead! Zelda would refuse, of course, but a bit of coaxing could work… after all, Midna knew the hylian princess wasn’t as icy as she always pretended. Maybe the twili could ravish her from her duties and bring her around Hyrule, but for real this time. Not as a simple fragment of her soul, buried deep inside Midna’s subconscious. When was the last time Zelda even left her castle? The twili princess wasn’t sure… she’d been imprisoned there for the whole war, until she sacrificed herself to save Midna. Then she helped vanquish Ganondorf, and quickly returned, locking herself in her ivory tower as if she was still a prisoner. This looked so utterly boring… Midna didn’t know how she handled it. She knew she couldn’t do that. Maybe she should try to find a way to let the princess… blow off some steam just as they did that one time.

Midna smirked at the thought, and a woman crossing her path shot her a weirded glance. The memory of the soft curves of this land’s ruler, her usually always perfectly combed hair all tangled in sweat, her sweet moans who’d made Midna crave for more, for so much more, haunted her days and nights. Midna had been with many people in her life. Men and women alike, mostly twili, but she’d also tasted a few humans and hylians here and there. Yet, no experience came even close to what she’d felt while plundering this land’s most precious treasure, their very own princess. She longed to relive the thrills she’d felt at that moment… and also the sheer pleasure Zelda returned. Midna shivered at this thought. Or maybe she was just out for too long… but she finally reached the east gate, already eager to gaze at the snow covered fields.

-Erm… I’m sorry, Miss, but I can’t let you go through.

Midna blinked a few seconds, looking at the guard who had walked in her way and was now barring her path toward the exit of the city. Was he talking to her? She scanned her surroundings, and couldn’t see anyone else he could be addressing. She frowned.

-Is there an issue outside the wall? Some monsters?

-Errr… no, but… I-I mean, yes! Yes, many snow monsters who only appear around this period. R-right?

The other guard in charge of manning the gate seemed taken aback by his colleague, but still strongly nodded, which resulted in a strong clinging sound of his metallic helmet.

-Absolutely! Very dangerous… err… monsters .

-What kind of monsters? Midna raised an eyebrow.

-Like… keeses and… deku babas… the second guard listed.

-Oh, the same as usual then. The twili princess noted. I’ll be fine then.

-Oh, no, there are also yetis! The first guard said, blocking her path as she tried to get around him.

- Yetis? Midna protested. There are no yetis in the hyrule fields, I know that much.

-T-there are! He insisted. Anyway, you are- I mean, the gate is closed.

-And if I go to another gate? She asked.

-S-same thing! Order from the princess herself! You’ll have to discuss it with her.

Midna squinted, and felt the man tense up under her gaze. But his face was hidden by his helmet, and she couldn’t make sure if he was serious or if they’d just both decided to act like this because she looked a bit different. Was this… discrimination? Midna hesitated to simply disintegrate them and search for answers herself afterward, but thought better of it. These weren’t Ganondorf minions, but guards of Hyrule. She couldn’t just cause another diplomatic hurdle so soon after the end of the war…

Frustrated, Midna decided to try out the two other gates, without any more luck. It seemed like there really was an order of the princess to prevent people from leaving the city at the moment. Was this the reason why Zelda was so busy? Sure, she was always busy, but Midna was having a hard time even crossing paths with her recently. She thought it was because of that night , and the princess was simply avoiding her out of misplaced shame or embarrassment, but maybe there really was an issue of security beyond the city walls… if that was the case, she could have just asked Midna to help. With the power of the fused shadows, she could wipe out this threat in mere minutes! Sadly, she could not teleport herself out of the city to do so immediately - the walls were imbued with a powerful spell preventing this from happening, as she’d found out while coming in the city for the first time with Link. Well… all she had to do was tell Zelda about her plan.

-This is out of the question.

Zelda’s tone was as definitive as it could be, which meant a lot, and it left Midna speechless. She was as regal as always, in a beautiful white dress which seemed made out of thousands of small ice crystals sewn together by an expert hand, her tiara keeping her hair high up on her forehead. She was frowning in concentration as her attention was focused on a stack of paper on top of her already full desk.

- What? Why? Midna protested. If there’s such a threat outside your walls, it should be taken care of as soon as possible!

-It will be taken care of, Midna. I simply don’t wish for you or anyone else to put themselves in danger while the nature of this threat is still unclear.

-Then I can do some scouting to make the threat clear, and then disintegrate it. How about that?

-I appreciate your offer, Midna, but the guards are already on it.

-How long will they be on it? Midna teased. Because I’d love to see the snow covered fields before it melts, you know?

Zelda sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose in annoyance. She gazed down on the twili princess, which was weird since she was sitting, but it’s the impression it gave. It was just as if she was looking down on a toddler and explaining why putting one’s hand on the stove was a bad idea.

-I should’ve known that you weren’t offering out of the goodness of your heart.

-Well, having a good heart is the puppy’s job. Midna pointed out with a smirk. As for me, I just want to admire the scenery. I’m not here to solve this realm’s problems!

Zelda’s face almost imperceptibly softened, and the twili thought there was an opening. Was she going to reconsider? It felt almost too easy.

-Glad we agree on this, Midna. The princess calmly stated. As such, you’ll understand that it is not your place to solve this issue either, right?

-That’s not what I said!

-That is what you said. Zelda smiled faintly, and that smile almost seemed to mock her.

Midna felt a flush coming to her cheeks. That was a new expression from the princess she’d never seen before… and it threw her off her game.

-I… the puppy would not be waiting so long to solve things!

-That’s true, but Link is not here at the moment. Zelda pointed out. Besides, his recklessness can cause its own lot of issues.

-But-

-Midna, please. I understand that you’re frustrated by this, but please let the guards do their jobs. Here, if you don’t bother them, I’ll even accompany you when you’ll go watch the snow covered fields.

This immediately raised Midna’s suspicions.

-The always oh-so-busy princess? Inviting me on a snowy date?

-W-who mentioned a date? Zelda retorted, but it was obvious she hadn’t expected this reply. Besides, I do like strolling in the snow, I’m just too busy at this time.

-So… once they’ve taken care of the yetis or whatever they have going on… we’ll go together?

-For sure.

-Promise? You’re not going to have some last minute meeting, huh?

-I promise, Midna. Zelda retorted with a sigh. Now could you allow me to get back to my work?

-Sure, sure. Midna left with a large smile.

That was a nice outcome, she thought. Far better than what she’d hoped for when coming into the princess’ office, in fact! A date? Even if Zelda didn’t admit to it, that was what it was, wasn’t it? And here she’d thought the hylian princess would never even accept an offer to leave her castle… It seemed like all she needed was a little push from Midna, after all. The twili couldn’t wait to see how Zelda would act far from the controlled environment of her court… maybe she’d even open up a little more… and Midna would come even closer to reaching her goal. The princess would fall head over heels for her, and leave this stuck up, cold appearance behind, just like when she was moaning under her hands.

Midna couldn’t wait. She almost felt giddy. But just almost.

***

The twili princess paced through the castle like a caged lion, cursing her own naivety. She should’ve seen it coming when Zelda caved in so quickly. Of course getting a date out of the most frigid looking woman in this whole realm wasn’t going to be that easy.

It had been a week already since that discussion, and the princess didn’t show any sign about making anything to solve that monster issue. She was busy, sure, but she couldn’t be so busy that she didn’t pay attention to her people’s safety. Midna knew how much Zelda cared for the inhabitants of Castle Town, so if she wasn’t doing anything to get rid of the monster and take her guest on the promised date, then something fishy was going on. And Midna was left there, frustrated at the idea of the snow melting. She enjoyed her time in the light realm, but she also knew she would have to go back to the twilight realm eventually. If she missed her timing, then she’d never be able to see the snow covered Hyrule fields before going home. All of this because her majesty , the insufferable, stuck up princess, decided to block all the city’s exit points until further notice. It was infuriating, really. And Midna couldn’t even catch Zelda to shake some sense into her, as she was always busy with something.

Annoyed, Midna decided that she’d settle for pacing through snowy Castle Town instead to let up some steam, and vent her frustrations. At least, it seemed like the cold layer of white powder hadn’t started melting yet, and the weather was as cold as the previous time she’d left. She left through the castle gates, ignoring the guards on duty looking her way, and wandered off into the silent streets. She tried her luck at one of the gates again, hoping for a more lenient sentinel, to no avail. She was stuck in between these walls until her majesty decided to do something about it. How annoying .

As she strolled through one of the neighborhoods, Midna noticed a familiar street branching from the one she was walking on. She hesitated a few seconds, before shrugging and entering the narrow lane. She’d been here before. A lot of times, actually. But never in her true form, always in hiding, concealed in the puppy’s shadow as if showing herself would be a crime. As she walked down a familiar flight of stairs and entered a small snow covered courtyard, Midna couldn’t help but feel a smirk on her lips. A large number of footprints created a path in the layers of snow leading directly to a small, dingy door with a sign reading: “ Telma’s bar” .

-I wonder if everyone is inside… The twili princess mused, as her eyes caught sight of the grumpy looking local cat glaring at her from a corner of the small courtyard.

Midna pushed the door and felt her body melting in pleasure as warm, soothing air embraced her freezing body. The tavern was almost empty, dimly lit by a few candles as sunlight struggled to go through the snow covered windows. A fire roared in the hearth, like a well fed ped content with the few logs he’d received. Telma, the fiery, busty, warm owner of the place, was standing behind her bar, welcoming her new customer with a professional and warm smile.

-Welcome to Telma’s bar, my beautiful lady. Have a sit, have a sit, I’m sure you’re back from a long journey.

Midna tried to refrain from smirking at this, knowing how foreign she looked to most hylians. But what was so funny was how familiar she was with both Telma and her bar, while none of them could recognise her - or were even aware of her existence. It gave Midna a sense of power, but also loneliness. She realised that, in the end, she would leave very few traces of her coming into this realm. The people aware of her existence were so few, those knowing what she’d done to save the kingdom even fewer. Telma and the other members of the resistance had been by her side during the whole war, and yet none of them knew she was there, and knew how central she’d been to their final victory over Zant and Ganondorf. Midna realised she hurted from noticing this, and didn’t like it. She shouldn’t feel the weight of this loneliness, she was Midna , the princess of the Twilight Realm

Midna sat at the bar and smiled at Telma, pushing those thoughts to the back of her mind.

-Thank you… Telma, I suppose. She said, deciding to play the part of the stranger.

-You’re a sharp one, beautiful lady. Telma winked at her.

-I know, I know. I’ve been told so a few times in my life. Midna answered with a knowing smile. So, Telma. What is your suggestion for a beautiful, sharp lady with a frozen body just like mine?

-Well, of course, my first offer would be some human warmth. Telma answered, bending over the bar to be closer to her mysterious patron.

The underlying proposition didn’t escape Midna, and she expected that much from Telma. From what she’d witnessed, the older lady enjoyed the pleasure of flesh at least as much as Midna did. She’d made a few moves on the puppy too, despite his amnesic girlfriend being just next to them. The twili princess wouldn’t be against it either. Telma was a bit older, sure, but with beautiful, buxom curves and an obviously large amount of experience. The idea of caressing her naked body while revealing how she’d known her for months was kind of exciting to Midna for a second, and she wondered if Telma would be intrigued or horrified. Yet, the little bubble of lust that had begun forming in Midna’s lower abdomen quickly burst when a random memory of Zelda’s ragged breath came to her mind. The twili princess blinked in surprise, as all interest in Telma’s body vanished in an instant.

-Hum… and when it comes to beverages? She asked.

-Then how about some warm milk? Telma smiled, not letting out any sign of discontent at the obvious rejection she’d just suffered from.

-I’d like that. Midna answered, still wondering what was happening to her.

Sure, Telma wasn’t exactly her favourite type, but she still enjoyed someone with experience whatever their appearance was. Why did she feel so… grossed out at the idea of sharing a bed with her? That wasn’t like her. After all, Telma was attractive. And she’d offered first. Usually, Midna would’ve jumped on the occasion. But not this time. Why?

The twili princess’ thoughts returned to the breathless gasps and silken skin of Zelda, and a small thrill ran through her body. Sure, this experience was… more than anything else she’d ever had, but this didn’t mean that she couldn’t enjoy having sex with someone else, right? Midna didn’t do exclusive relationships. In fact, she didn’t really do relationships at all, preferring the carnal, bodily aspect of sex rather than the bothersome relational aspect of it. Maybe… she was just not in the mood for someone older today.

She scanned the vicinity, and her eyes fell on one of the only other people present in the bar at that moment, and a wolfish smile appeared on her lips. She knew that intimidating, fully armored lady too. Ashei . She was a member of the resistance too, and had fought alongside the puppy - and Midna hidden in his shadow - in the snowy peaks. She was ruthless, a fierce warrior, but also the kind of girl that looked quite inexperienced when it came to matters of the heart and body. And far more within Midna’s range, as her tall, muscular body would make for a perfect moment in bed. But as she looked at the serious looking knight, the twili princess felt no sign of wanting to woo her. In fact, no matter how much she tried, she couldn’t even imagine them doing it. Everytime she tried to picture it, Ashei’s toned body morphed into the princess’ brittle-looking frame, and no matter how hard she tried pushing it back, Zelda always came back, like a ghost haunting her memories and her mind.

Dumbfounded, Midna turned away from Ashei back toward the bar and looked into the distance, trying to understand what the hell was wrong with her.

-Hmmm, I see… Telma’s voice snapped her out of her daze. You prefer women of her type, hmm? Her name is Ashei, by the way. And I’m sure she’d gain from having a little fun with someone like you.

Telma seemed quite amused by the situation as she put a cup of milk above the roaring fire to heat it, and Midna had to think for a few seconds before answering.

-Usually, I’d answer yes. She admitted. But usually, I would’ve taken you on your earlier offer.

-Oh, quite forward, I like that. Telma chuckled. May I ask what’s different from usual then, Miss…

-Midna. And, to be frank… I’m not entirely sure.

-Then I’m relieved. The bar owner sighed. I was afraid I had offended you.

-Do not worry, your offer was very tempting. Midna smiled. But it seems like I can’t focus on anyone else apart from my current target.

Telma nodded with an amused expression.

-That’s some serious dedication you have there, Lady Midna. Some might even call it love.

Midna laughed at the owner’s sentence, not even registering that it might not have been a joke.

-Quite funny, I must admit. No, she’s just quite… challenging to get, I’d say. Infuriating at times, even. But I enjoy such difficulties.

-Hmmm, I see. Telma smirked. This must be quite the challenge for sure if it made you refuse my offer, then.

-It is, it is. But I promise I’ll come back once I’ve triumphed, so wait for me. Midna answered with a sultry look.

Telma’s gaze became even more malicious, as if she saw something the twili princess was unable to grasp herself.

-We’ll see about that… oh, are you planning to use the day of the Lovers tomorrow to attempt something?

-The day of the Lovers? Midna asked, unsure of what it was referring to.

-Oh my apologies, I forget that you’re not from here. Telma chuckled. It’s a day where we celebrate lovers, it happens every year around this time.

-Doesn’t sound like something for me, then. Midna sneered.

-Oh, but nowadays, the meaning of this day is far larger than just a day for lovers. It’s also a day where people spend time with the people they like, offer gifts to each other, and… have a little fun , if you see what I mean.

-Hmmm… Midna mused, a smile on her lips. This does seem like something interesting, but I’m unsure if my target will fall for something so obvious. Thank you for the idea, though.

-You’re welcome. Here is your warm milk. It’s fresh, directly from Kakariko village.

Midna fazed on this piece of information for a few seconds, as she looked down to the white, fuming liquid in her mug.

-Wait… how fresh?

-Very fresh. Telma chuckled. We received it yesterday.

-How did it make it through the gates?

Telma looked like she had no idea what Midna was talking about.

-Well… by walking through it, I guess. That’s what most people do at those gates.

-No, I mean… the gates are closed because of the monsters in the fields, right?

Telma looked a bit confused.

-I don’t leave Castle Town that much, but I haven’t heard of any… closed gates, or even monsters, for that matter. Hmmm… Ashei? Come here, sweetie, I have a question for you.

The fully armored woman got up from her seat and approached Telma, throwing a glance toward Midna that the twili princess wasn’t sure how to interpret - but it wasn’t a friendly one.

-Yes, Telma?

-Have you heard about any monster seeing nearby Castle Town?

The black-haired girl thought about it for a moment, before answering.

-No. Nothing out of the ordinary.

-My my… I don’t know who told you all of this, Lady Midna, but they might have been lying to you.

-I tried to cross the gates and the guards stopped me. Midna retorted.

-Oh, my… Ashei?

-They closed the gates one day last week, and again today. As for the reason, they didn’t really specify one.

-Looks like you’re just quite unlucky, Lady Midna. Telma sighed.

But, in Midna’s head, everything was running at full speed. The two days where she’d left the castle were days where the gates were closed. It couldn’t be a coincidence. And only one person could order such a thing. None other than the princess herself. Midna felt her blood boil. She couldn’t believe she’d been toyed with like this. She couldn’t believe the pure, pristine princess lied to her face. She sprang up from her seat, her furious eyes ready to burn anything they came in contact with.

-I’m very sorry… I have to take my leave. Here are your rupees.

Midna left without adding another word, even as Ashei called her out.

-Hey! You didn’t even drink a drop! I’m gonna teach you some manners!

-Leave it, sweetie. Telma calmed her down, a smile on her face. I’m not sure what’s happening, but I think it might be interesting.

Midna was still enraged when she entered Zelda’s office, ignoring the guard on duty who tried to stop her. So the little princess tried to manipulate her, huh? She was going to see what happened to people who crossed the princess of the Twilight Realm. She didn’t even take the time to remove her comfy winter coat, barging while shedding the thin layer of snow her clothes held everywhere on the way.

-Hello, princess. She called out Zelda after slamming the door behind her. Remember the little promise you made?

The hylian didn’t seem fazed by the tumultuous arrival of her guest, simply raising her head from her paperwork and answering.

-Ah, yes, good thing you’re here. It seems like the threat has finally been taken care of, so how about we plan that outing for tomorrow?

Midna was so stunned her anger receded in an instant. What was the meaning of this? Did someone rat on her? Was one of Zelda’s spies present in Telma’s bar? No way, the only people who could’ve heard her discussion with the owner were Telma herself, Ashei, and Louise the cat, neither of whom seemed to know anything about her identity or their princess’ scheming. Then… why the sudden change of heart? What was the point of this whole plot?

-You do not seem quite as delighted as I thought you would be. Zelda said, slowly getting up from her chair. Do you not want to go see the snowy landscape?

-Oh, no, no, I do want to see it. Midna quickly tried to regain her composure, plastering her usual smirk on her face. I’m just surprised you finally relented. I was starting to believe you had lied to me.

-I wouldn’t lie to you, Midna. Zelda answered with a faint, godly smile, and Midna’s heart made a loop in her chest. I’m sorry about this… delay in our plans. However, tomorrow is the perfect occasion for our outing, so it seems like the stars aligned for us.

Midna ticked on that one sentence, and a malicious smiled appeared on her lips.

-Right, right… the noble, pure princess of the light realm wouldn’t ever stoop so low as to lying to her most esteemed guest. I apologise for ever suggesting it. Though, I’m not sure why tomorrow is so perfect for the occasion. Is it some kind of special day?

Zelda’s regal mask didn’t slip, but Midna felt how the question unsettled the ruler of these lands; she hadn’t realised her wording could betray her like this. For the next day was the Day of the Lovers, and, had Midna not learned about the existence of this day mere minutes earlier, she wouldn’t have understood why this day seemed important. Hopefully for her, Zelda always knew how to answer such trick questions.

-Well, it happens that tomorrow is the day where the stardrop flowers start blooming through the snow. The princess answered with her unreadable expression. It is quite a beautiful bloom, piercing through the snow to gather the first rays of light at dawn. The hyrule fields should have plenty of them.

-Oooh, I see, I didn’t know about this. Midna retorted, a bit disappointed she didn’t manage to trick Zelda into admitting she’d engineered everything so that their date would happen on the Day of the Lovers. And I didn’t expect her majesty to take me out on a date to pick flowers.

-Picking these flowers is bad luck, Midna. Zelda answered with an amused look. And I’m just trying to show you the beauty of the light realm before… you… erm. Before the snow melts.

Midna felt how Zelda’s mood shifted mid sentence, and was startled to realise how her heart quenched in her chest as the veiled mention of her return to her own realm. She couldn’t believe that, for a second, she dreaded the moment where she’d have to leave the world of light, probably forever. She was just staying here to amuse herself, not to get attached more than she already was. Yet, it seemed that Zelda dreaded this moment as much as herself, even though neither of them would ever admit it aloud, or to themselves.

-Right… Midna answered, her bravado gone. Well… I’ll see you tomorrow then, princess.

-I’ll see you tomorrow, Midna. Have a good night.

When the twili princess closed the door behind herself, she stood still in the hall for a few seconds, under the curious stare of the guard on duty. This whole discussion had thrown her off her game once again. She didn’t even manage to bring up how Zelda did lie, to expose her schemes, to lay her inner thoughts bare for everyone to see. Once again, the princess had completely played her, turning her anger into expectation, and stayed unfazed by her words. This wasn’t good. Midna should be the one toying with Zelda’s feelings, cracking the whip, and yet here she was, almost begging for that date, and throwing a fit when she realised she’d been duped instead of turning the tide. What was she doing, really?

Midna stood there, pensive, for a few minutes, wondering how to reverse the power dynamic, just as she’d done that time, sliding into the princess’ chamber and coochie. She had to use her most powerful weapon: the surprise effect. If Zelda had the time to compose herself and prepare everything, she never cracked. She was ready to face all possibilities. But if she was taken aback… then just as last time, Midna would be able to take a peek behind the mask. A shiver of anticipation ran through her body. Thinking back on it, it probably wasn’t a coincidence if these beautiful flowers bloomed on the exact day the hylians celebrated the Day of the Lovers, right? A smirk appeared on Midna’s lips, and she rushed over to the castle library. Reading books wasn’t her forte, but she’d have to step up her game if she wanted to compete with the scheming princess.

***

It was cold. Freezing, even, close to unbearable, even compared to earlier. Midna was just starting to understand that the only reason the winter was mildly acceptable during the day was because of the soothing rays of the sun bathing her skin and warming the air. But here, in the middle of the night, there was nothing to protect her from the biting cold, or from the harsh wind that blew over the roof of the Hyrule Castle. Midna didn’t really expect to come back there after she’d walked these rooftops with Link, when Castle Town was still bathed in the familiar dim light of the Twilight. It was so different now… first and foremost, with the absence of huge flying monsters trying to push them off the edge, but also with the thick layer of untouched snow laying everywhere. It was even more impressive than what she’d seen in town, and the smooth light of the full moon made it shine differently too, creating an eerie feeling. The twili focused back on the task at hand, though, trying to keep as much warmth as she could by hiding her hands under her armpits. She made her way toward a familiar tower, towering over the rest of the castle. The windows from the chamber at its top were pitch black. Midna smirked. Seemed like no one was waiting for her. It was perfect.

With her cat-like agility only slightly dampened by the weight of her clothes, Midna reached the closed window and, with a short flick of her hand, opened it from the outside and entered the royal chamber. She felt her heartbeat accelerating. There, in the same bed Zelda was peacefully sleeping in, she’d ravaged her a few months prior. The memory appeared in front of her eyes once again before she realised what was happening to her, and the twili grunted. What was happening to her was truly weird… but maybe this night outing would help her sort out her feelings better. She leaned over the bed, and admired Zelda’s sleeping face and regular breath. She looked so much more honest like this, without her mask of regal authority, and deprived of her royal finery. Midna gently brushed a strand of hair behind her pointy ears, a smirk of anticipation on her lips. The hylian princess’ eyes fluttered open, and she gasped in surprise.

-M-Midna! By the goddesses, what are you doing here?

-My, my, princess. Midna answered with flair. Can’t believe you forgot your promise to take me on a date today.

-What? I said tomorrow.

-But tomorrow is now, dear princess. Midna smirked. It’s time for us to go and see the beautiful landscape of the hyrule plains under the moonlight.

-That’s folly. Zelda retorted, her authoritative tone already returned. It is still the middle of the night. Don’t push it, Midna.

-Oh, princess… don’t tell me it was all a lie…

-No, I just assumed you would understand that I meant during the day .

-But you didn’t say it. Midna grinned. Now, come on, let’s find something warm for you.

- Midna!

But the twili didn’t listen and opened one of the large, beautifully carved wooden wardrobes of the room and, despite the pitch darkness, quickly snatched a long, magnificently woven cape that looked warm enough.

-Midna, stop this madness at once, the sun won’t be up before hours. Zelda stormed toward her.

The twili princess took the opportunity to enjoy the view of the hylian in her nightgown, a plain white one ending just above her ankles. The lack of flair of the dress almost enhanced Zelda’s natural beauty, and Midna stood there, mesmerised for a few moments, while the princess folded her arms on her chest in discontent. Midna finally managed to snap back from it, and, with an even bigger smirk, she said.

-Well, I wanted to make sure that you would keep your promise this time, since you seem to enjoy tricking me.

-What are you talking about?

Midna passed the cape on Zelda’s shoulder and started tying the knot to make it stick, while adding a few explanations.

-Well, I’ve heard from a few of the townsfolk that the gates of the city weren’t actually closed recently. They only were when I was out of the castle, strangely.

Zelda’s face froze, and she stopped moving, allowing Midna to finish her knot, before adding.

-To top it off, no one heard of any kind of monster , threat or even yeti . Strange, isn’t it?

-W-we just didn’t want to scare the population. Zelda retorted.

-But allowed them to walk through the gate? Directly into danger? That’s not very wise, don’t you think?

-T-the guards must not have understood the orders well. The princess kept denying. Thank you for notifying me, I’ll make sure to punish them for this mishap.

-Oh, princess… I have to admit that I’ve been fooled. Midna mused. But the game is up now, and it’s my time to have a little fun.

-What are you- eeeep!

Without much difficulty, Midna lifted Zelda from the ground, princess style, and walked back to the window she entered from.

-What are you- put me down this instant! The princess yelled.

-No can do, princess. As I said, we’re going on a date .

-The guards at the gate won’t let you through! This is a kidnapping.

-Precisely. Midna smirked. But we won’t have to go through the gate, don’t worry.

-W-what?

Midna’s smirk widened. Oooh, if she had known that this little thing would come back to help her like this…

-You see, the first time I met the puppy in this same castle, something funny happened. We teleported out of the city.

-That’s impossible. Zelda retorted as Midna jumped back onto the snowy roof. The city walls are imbued with potent spells that prevent teleporting through them.

-Indeed. I realised that during our next visit. But it doesn’t change the fact that we were able to leave Castle Town via teleport after our first meeting. I suspect you should rather inspect if there isn’t a weak spot in your spells rather than punishing those poor guards, if I may.

-W-wait, Midna… Zelda started trying to get down from her lift. We can’t leave now, it’s still the night, I’m in my nightgown!

-It makes you even prettier, princess. And as I said earlier… now is my time to have a bit of fun.

A potent wave of twilight magic went through Midna’s body, and both princesses soon started disintegrating in a myriad of small dark particles that travelled through the city and through the magic protection, until they reappeared on a hilltop in the middle of the snowy Hyrule Fields, right under a tree whose leaves were missing. Midna was quite proud of her little trick. She wasn’t sure it would work again, and knew she’d have to go through the gates when coming back since it was a one way breach, but still; it was something the princess couldn’t have expected, as she proved by her shocked expression as she finally managed to set free from Midna’s grasp.

-I-I can’t believe this. She started muttering. This is a serious security breach… I’ll have to inform my sorcerers about it. How come you never told me about it?

-Never knew it was this important. Besides, it ended up being useful, right?

-Useful for you little trick. We’re now stranded in the middle of the hyrule fields in the middle of the night. I hope you are proud of you.

-Oh I’m very proud of myself. Midna grinned. You should’ve known tricking me like this wouldn’t go without consequences.

-I-I don’t know what you’re talking about.

-Still playing dumb, dear princess, hm? You know, for a while I failed to see the reason why you tried so hard to have me stuck in Castle Town for so long. And then, I understood. You wanted me for yourself on the day of the Lovers. What a cheeky, roundabout way of doing things. You could have just said you wanted more of me, dear princess.

-Would you please stop with your salacious insinuations? Zelda retorted, closing more tightly the sides of her cape to protect herself from the wind - or from her captor, who knows. I told you I just wanted to show you the stardrop bloom.

-Precisely. Midna smirked as Zelda fell right into her trap, and cleared her voice. “Stardrops have a deep meaning in hylian culture. It represents the resilience of its people, represented by its ability to bloom even in the middle of winter, while snow still covers the landscape. Interestingly enough, it is also associated with love and passion, as it represents the immortal bond lovers desire to share. Watching the flowers bloom as a couple is said to bring good luck to their relationship, and, as such, the Day of the Lover has been created on the date of said blooming.” This is an extract from “Flowers and plants from Hyrule and beyond” in the castle’s library. I learned it by heart. Took me a while, though, I admit.

Midna revelled in the blatant surprise on her little princess’ face, and leaned toward her with a smirk.

-Can’t believe you did all of this to bless our relationship with so much luck, princess. How daring of you.

-T-that’s just one of many meanings this flower has! Zelda was quick on the uptake and managed to compose herself. It can also bring flourishment to any kind of relationship, including diplomatic ones. D-Don’t get ahead of yourself.

-You really know how to answer everything, don’t you… Midna chuckled, her face mere centimeters from Zelda’s. But wouldn’t have needed to hide everything from me for so long, and even hide this “diplomatic” meaning of the bloom, if that really was your objective, princess. Hm?

-T-that’s just supposition on your part.

-I don’t think it is. She whispered into the princess’ ear, pushing her gently against the trunk of the lone tree.

-What… do you think you’re doing? Zelda huffed as Midna started kissing her neck, her hand moving under the cape to meet the fabric of her nightgown.

-What you’re not honest enough to ask for out loud, princess.

-I-I… never… ah!

A simple graze of the princess’ chest through her nightgown was enough to elicit this reaction, and a large cloud of mist escaped her beautiful lips. Midna felt her heartbeat pick up, as she stopped nibbling the princess neck to bring her face closer to her’s. She already was red as a tomato, her eyes half closed, panting slightly. A shiver of anticipation ran through twili’s spine.

-I just grazed you, princess. She mused. Did you miss it so much?

-Stop saying… nonsense… Zelda uttered in chopped breath.

-I’m noting that you didn’t ask me to stop touching you, though… Midna smirked, and, when Zelda simply didn’t answer and averted her gaze, it felt like a river of molten lava started running through Midna’s lower belly.

The sheer lust washed over her, and her hands quickly started rummaging under the princess’ cape.

-I’ll make sure to keep you warm, princess. She promised as her lips found their way to her pale, pristine neck once again, revering it with a thousand sweet kisses.

The cold seemed to heighten every sensation. Every time Midna’s hands grazed the princess, quiet moans escaped her lips. Every single time she kissed her skin, it felt to her like it was hotter than molten metal. The princess’ nightgown was in the way… but Midna thought better than trying to remove it. Even though she still wore the cape, it wouldn’t be able to keep her sufficiently warm. So the twili worked with what she was given, and found much pleasure in doing so too. Zelda’s hardened nipples could be felt even through the fabric of the gown, and Midna gently teased them as she fondled the princess' breasts. It felt so perfect in her hands, as she’d noted the previous time, just as if they were made to fit perfectly in her palms. The moans Zelda elicited were getting louder and raspier, as Midna decided to use her second hand to explore the rest of her body through the chaste cover of her gown, feeling her faint curves and firm skin, caressing her smooth butt, bringing up a leg to rest against her own pelvis. Zelda’s body seemed to yearn for more, inching closer and closer, bending against her hand to better feel her touch, and, finally, bringing up her second leg to have them locked up around Midna’s hips, as she was still pushed against the tree. Her ankles and legs now exposed to the elements, the twili feared she would quickly be too cold for her own good, but Zelda shut up her concern by taking her face between her two hands and forcing a deep, languorous kiss, the intensity of her moans picking up once again.

-Princess… Midna managed to say as she corrected her posture to ensure the princess was more comfortable and wouldn’t fall off. You’re so eager , tonight.

-I’m just starting to get cold. Zelda retorted, even though her face told another story. You said you’d keep me warm, so prove it.

-I’m working on it, my dear. Midna chuckled, but still felt a lump of lust exploding in her chest.

They kissed again, stronger this time, rocking against the trunk of the poor, innocent tree that served as only witness to their romp. Midna’s left hand kept fondling Zelda’s breast, while the other desperately fought her way toward the princess’ most sacred place, trying to push away waves and waves of the fabric of her nightgown that stood in the way. She finally reached the sanctum and couldn’t believe how warm and utterly wet Zelda already was. A smirk appeared on her face. A comment began to form on her lips. The hylian crushed it with her own, her arms locking behind her nape to ensure she wouldn’t talk anymore. Midna couldn’t help but chuckle into the kiss, while her fingers started to prod Zelda’s flower.

She hesitated to tease the delicious princess, to torment her, to keep her on the verge of the pleasure she oh so desired, just as payback for the little trick she played on her. But a shiver reminded her of the condition they were frolicking into, and the now exposed legs of the princess ought to return under the cover of her cape sooner than later. It was unusual for Midna to make her pleasure secondary in an intercourse, but the idea of Zelda being uncomfortable seemed utterly unacceptable to her, for some reason. As such, she drowned further into the kiss, while her fingers penetrated the princess unceremoniously. Zelda twitched under the surprise and moaned under the pleasure. The appendices ran inside the lubricated hole so easily it was as if the vagina craved for it, and gulped them down without any intention of setting them free eventually. Midna accepted the fact, and quickly started pounding the hylian’s inside, feeling the love juice dripping on her palm. Zelda’s body arched against her, and broke the kiss under the sheer amount of pleasure, but Midna quickly chased down those lovable lips and locked them into yet another embrace as she picked up her pace. Zelda’s cry of pleasure against her lips raised Midna’s own pleasure level through the roof. The princess’ hips rocking against her own brought her close to climax. Once again, she couldn’t believe Zelda didn’t even have to touch her to bring her so close to orgasm. It didn’t make sense… but this time, the twili decided to just dive into the pleasure, and a simple, whispered, almost inaudible “please” from her princess was all she needed to reach her own limit, as her body shivered and the rush of hormones coursed through her veins. She’d cummed already, and stayed frozen for a moment, blanking as she caught her breath.

-Midna? Zelda asked, her voice almost pleading, and the twili tried to hide her embarrassment about what just happened by resuming her deed.

Zelda’s body arched once again as she picked up the pace, her fingers chasing for all the perfect spots of her insides, until she suddenly tensed up and cried out, her body clasping against Midna’s, before going limp.

Slowly, the twili helped her princess come down from her spot, trying to ensure her nightgown covered her legs, and her body was warmed by her cape. Zelda’s breath was choppy, her gaze was hazy, her cheeks were pink, and Midna couldn’t help but lay a sweet kiss on one of them before realising what she was doing. Hopefully, the princess seemed still too out of it to really realise, as she laid against the lone tree. The twili snapped out of it, and huddled next to her, finally able to take in the beautiful view of the snowy fields under the moonlight. It shimmered as if a thousand diamonds laid in the snow, blending in with the stars dotting the sky above them. They were alone here. Truly alone. And Midna felt at ease. Everything was just… perfect here. She naturally passed an arm behind Zelda’s back to grab her shoulder, bringing her closer. It got her a warning glare from the princess. Midna rolled her eyes. She’d just fucked her up in the middle of the night, far from everyone, and yet she got that kind of look just for keeping her close?

-It’s just to keep ourselves warm. She jested, mocking Zelda’s earlier excuse.

-Then it’s alright, I guess. Was the answer she got, and the princess head gently dropped on her shoulder.

Midna froze. Sitting next to each other like this, the princess head resting against her, she wondered why it make her feel like they were even closer than when they fucked just minutes ago. It felt even more… intimate . And note in the sexual sense of the word. Midna felt like she was too open. Too vulnerable. But at the same time… she couldn’t bear to break the moment. She rested her own head against Zelda’s, and they stayed there, silent, slightly frozen, but so, so close to each other. Midna wasn’t sure how long they stayed this way. At one point, as the first rays of the sun broke the enchantment of the night, a single, faint “pop” echoed close to them. They both looked toward the origin of the sound, and found a unique, stunning white flower piercing through the thick layer of snow to greet the sun. Zelda smiled.

-The first snowdrop of the year, it seems.

-May our diplomatic relationship be blessed. Midna smirked.

-You really are… Zelda grunted and sighed.

-Sexy? Perfect? Good at making you cum?

- Annoying . Zelda retorted, the comment failing to elicit any embarrassment in her.

-But you loved it.

-I just played along with your fantasy. Zelda retorted. It is also the role of a queen to please foreign diplomats.

-Oh. So you often fuck with other envoys? Midna sneered.

-You and your vulgar language. Zelda winced.

-I guess that means no, princess. The twili smiled, giving a quick peck on her lips which made the princess blush.

-Y-you’re lucky no one is around. I would never allow such reckless behaviour in the palace.

-Except in your room, I guess. Midna mused. If your lust is up the roof again, though, you can just tell me. No need to resort to such schemes, hm?

-You’re impossible.

-And you can’t be honest. Midna chuckled.
