Chapter Text

"Oh my, Oh MY GOODNESS!!" is what Midoriya Izuku heard over his own triumphant screaming voice as he collapsed from exhaustion. 

"You did it my boy!" All Might said proudly as he set Midoriya on his feet again. "A whole month early too.." seeing All Might clearly impressed with his work made Midoriya blush.

"I- I did it All Might!" Midoriya clenches his fists and looks up at All Might with a smile. "I did it."

Seeing Midoriya's determined look reminds All might that he made the right decision in choosing Midoriya Izuku to be his successor.

"All right young man" All Might says as he reaches up to pluck a hair, it's your turn now my boy. "Eat THIS!" he presents the hair to his successor.

"huh.... HAH?" 

Midoriya digests the hair... gross..

All Might leaves him be, as the digestion process of One for All will take a while and, "Heroes stop for nothing!"

After a while of resting on the beach by himself, Midoriya feels something change within him. He feels a heavy weight, a burden settles on his shoulders, which is strange as Midoriya knows he wasn't feeling this heavy just moments before. He decides it must be his new role as the number one hero, All Might's successor. At least that's what he thinks it is until he sees the screen that most definitely had NOT been there before.

"Wha-" Izuku scrambles back from the floating text and is even more shocked as it follows him. "Is this a villain attack? an illusion quirk?" he mumbles out loud to himself as he studies the floating box. "No" it can't be some outside force as it clearly shows 'One For All' and a villain wouldn't have access to sensitive information like the name of All Might's (now Izuku's) quirk. 

"I wonder what this means." Izuku mumbles out. "All Might didn't mention anything like floating text accompanying the quirk." He studies the words more intensely. "What does it mean by 'synchronization' is it talking about One for All and my body or One for All and something else, it has to be talking about me right what else would there be?"

Right after Izuku unintentionally asked that question, the meter reached 100% and another floating box with text appeared.

Izuku studied this text box even more than the previous one. What did it mean by one for all system?

Register a name? no. It specifically says 'your name', what would happen if he used a different name? He shouldn't risk something like that when he has no idea what's happening.

"Midoriya Izuku" he says clearly as he's deep in analytical mode. Let's see where this goes. 

Since it's probably a quirk of some kind, possibly related to One for all since that's what it wants me to think.

He looks closer at the boxes. Ninth user.. does that make All Might the eighth? He'd have to ask. Midoriya decides to see what this tutorial has to offer. Couldn't hurt to have more information on this new situation at hand.

Midoriya was surprised that there was a loading sequence after he pressed yes. Was this system not as optimized as it appeared to be? Was it expecting him to skip the tutorial? As if. He needed more information about what was happening. Apparently 10 quests of it.

Midoriya did a double take, or a closer look, when he read the description. His quirk? Did eating All Might's hair manifest Izuku's original quirk? Did the two merge? If so, that was cool!! 

Midoriya hoped no one was playing a prank on him. He had already been worried that All Might had been lying about the One for All quirk in the first place. Even now he still couldn't be sure. Someone with All Might's connections could certainly have someone with an illusion quirk like this. 

Someone with an illusion quirk would have limits. It wouldn't last forever. Midoriya decided to ignore the floating box for now and only look at it if it was still there when he got home. He collected his things took one more look at the crystal clear beach feeling proud of himself and just as he was about to turn around and leave a new box appeared.

["Congratulations Ninth! We're lucky to have you, good luck!"]

Midoriya's eyes went wide, or wider than normal. Who? What? 'The One Who Started It All'. How eerie. Their message was quite kind and differed from how ominous their name sounded. Names could be deceiving after all. 

What are favor points, they sound positive. It would probably be a good idea to accumulate more of those if this ends up being a permanent thing.

As Midoriya started walking home from the beach, he got another message.

["Be careful out there kid, it's dangerous"]

Midoriya stopped walking to wonder about what that message meant when all of a sudden, a rampaging villain being chased by Kamui Woods ran right around the corner where Izuku would've been standing had he not stopped. 

Midoriya stood stalk still and the villain turned to him in a huff. A big evil grin manifested itself on the villain's face. "Hey kid, mind if I borrow you for a while" the villain said casually as he ran in close to Izuku and grabbed him by the neck and shoulders to use as a shield against Kamui Woods.

Midoriya didn't even read the box that appeared and instead slammed the villain to the ground using a move he'd seen a hero pull off when put in the same chokehold he'd just been in. 

The villain was too exhausted from the previous chase with Kamui Woods to even put up a fight. Kamui Woods, who had seen the whole thing, thanked Midoriya for his hard work and took care of the capture of the villain. 

Midoriya was too shell-shocked to even talk to Kamui let alone get his autograph. Maybe another time..

They both have other things to deal with. Midoriya looks at Kamui through the new text boxes that are popping up in his vision. This might just be his new normal.

Midoriya was now exhausted with these new boxes at first, they seemed useful, but since he doesn't have the knowledge about what they are and what they do, all they're good for is clouding his vision. Annoyed, Izuku waves his hands around and thankfully the boxes actually go away. He really needs to talk to All Might about this. Maybe once he has more information on it. Looks like Midoriya Izuku is going to pull another all nighter to study this supposed quirk instead of getting that victory well rested sleep he had promised himself. That's just how life seems to roll for him.

Despite what Midoriya Izuku had planned for. After dinner, he ended up crashing into bed. Which means he now as to deal with the weird quirk AND school. Not a fun combination.

As he's brushing his teeth, that would've been nice to know yesterday, he spits into the sink.

He takes a deep breath, waves away the floating boxes and smiles at his reflection in the mirror. Maybe he's been going about this the wrong way, the most important thing he should focus on is how to use this quirk to help him become a good hero, the best hero.

Now he tries to recall any knowledge that might help him here. help.

Midoriya ran to the beach after receiving a text from All Might. "All Might!" He yells as he rushes toward All Might's figure. 

He stops right in front of All Might and starts rambling as he does not know what to tell All Might first. 

"So, I got One for All and I haven't really tried it outside of meditation as that's what the past users recommended and warned me that using 100% would be dangerous outside of emergency situations. I also acquired a "One For All System" whatever that means.. and it's been showing me my stats and helping me improve them through training- It's okay if it's hard to understand, I was also very confused at first and-" 

"Slow down there young Midoriya let me send- show you something!" All Might waves his hands and a screen appears in front of Izuku.

[(YagiToshinori: The Almighty) has sent you a friend request!]

"Now I'm sure you have questions, just let me explain first." 

Midoriya looked at the box and back at All Might in shock. He already knew about the system!!

"This system didn't appear for me immediately like I'm suspecting happened to you" He started to explain.

Midoriya was shocked as he then saw All Might make a fond smile. 

"I was interning in the states with David Shield when a floating message popped in front of my vision"

"Well?" Midoriya questioned, he had never seen All Might like this before. So strange, could he be an impostor? no, no, he's just getting sentimental.

"This system is my trade secret, and now yours!" All Might smiled at him. 

"So cool!" Midoriya says with stars in his eyes.

"Now my boy simply say 'scan'!" All Might encourages proudly.

"I believe that to be the case, Young Midoriya!" All Might puts a hand on his shoulder. "You are the Ninth wielder after all!"

"Young Midoriya, this system is now your assistant to your hero journey!" 

"The past users and I will be watching on with favor!"

Despite explaining himself, the box still remains unchanged to his own frustration. "There must be something I'm overlooking."

 He gets in a meditative position and unconsciously activates one for all throughout his entire body as he follows the flow of his breathing and calms down.

"Good morning system" Izuku said with a yawn. He had somehow gotten used to the system. Despite not knowing much about video games and not knowing how to use the system to its highest potential, he was still able to increase his stats and train harder to be a hero.

Izuku was so focused on his stat box that he tripped over his own feet. 'I guess I'll just die then'

Yet, he doesn't and opens his eyes to find himself floating. "Wah?" he lets out in surprise. 

"Sorry!" a cute girl says to him with a smile as she puts her hands together. "It would be bad luck to fall, wouldn't it?"

He feels gravity take hold of him again, it's not the only thing messing with his center of balance. Lucky enough his practice in yoga seems to help him stay centered. 

Is that her quirk? it's so cool and would be incredibly helpful in rescue missions. "I'm glad you think so!" She says with a laugh, and Izuku realizes he said that out loud.

"Now that you're okay, I guess I'll see you later!" She says with a smile as she leaves him behind. 

"I talked to a girl!" Izuku shouts to himself.

"Of course.." Izuku mumbled with a sigh as he walked over to his highlighted assigned seat. Kacchan and him are from the same middle school, of course their seats would be near if not next to each other.

Kacchan looked at him with a huff but otherwise left him alone. Thank goodness.

Just when Izuku thought the explanation was over and it was time to go beat up some robot villains, some uptight kid from soumei junior high stood up and lectured present mic. LECTURED A PRO-HERO!! 

Izuku thought this kid was bold, and scary. That got even worse when he called out Izuku for "mumbling the entire time and distracting their entire section" he even went on to say that "if he wasn't going to take the exam seriously, he should just leave and go home. Thereby leaving room for the rest of them to complete the exam in peace."

Izuku skipped the two he already knew about and focused on the new one.

"Iida is now added as a petty rival?" That had to be the kid that called him out in the auditorium. Strange, is he related to Iida Tensei, Ingenium?

Just as he was thinking that, a hand firmly set itself on his shoulder. "Why are you staring at that girl over there? Planning on distracting her from the exam too?" Iida says from behind him. 

"Ah-" Izuku said in surprise. "No, I was actually thinking of encouraging her!" He let out in a rush. He was now feeling incredibly embarrassed as he hadn't even realized himself that he had been staring at Uraraka. She's just so pretty..

"I highly recommend against doing that, we're all stressed about the exam and doing so might make her performance worsen." Iida said with a frown. 

"A-alright!" Izuku agreed with him instantly.

"Start!" yells Present Mic. Izuku seeing the increase in strength stat doesn't even read the title he was just given and just equips it hoping it will help in the exam.

Wisdom: 25(-5)]

As Izuku runs he realizes he feels.. smarter? but he doesn't know how to use this newfound intelligence. He runs and runs till he's near the front of the pack. As soon as he sees a robot he attacks it, without thinking. His mind reminds him there's other contestants and that causes him to remember something the story quest had said. 

"Quest" 

[UA Entrance Exam!]

Defeat robots and save examinees!

The higher your points, the bigger your reward!

"Save examinees?" he questions aloud and accidentally lets another contestant finish off the robot he had attacked. 

It seems like there's another way to earn points, though are those points just for the system or also for the exam itself? it would be better to try attacking the robots and maybe helping other examinees along the way.

Just as he thinks that, he has the opportunity to pull another examinee away from falling rubble. He wonders if that helped any with his own score and of course also made sure the other examinee was alright.

Protect someone else from minor harm

Izuku is running around when he realizes he's fallen behind. What should he do? His body moves on its own when he hears a startled yelp. Someone got hit! They must need assistance!

He attacks the 3-pointer but his fist barely put a dent in it. He takes a deep breath. It looks like it's time to activate One for All! 

[Activating the available amount of One for All]

Calculating..

A screen appears in his vision, what does this mean? why is the system delaying him?

"Puny hero, you cannot stop me!" the 3-pointer yells as it readies an attack. 

Izuku thanks his dexterity stat as he easily evades the attack.

He counters with his own attack and tries to use one for all in his arm. It works!

[5% Activated!]

Does that mean he only used 5% of One for All? It destroyed the 3-pointer! Just how strong is One for All at full power?

[Quest still in progress!!]

The system is telling him to get back on track and so he does. He looks around and does something smart. 

"Scan" 

[50- too many enemies to count!]

[You are in danger!]

[Dodge or Attack!]

That's worrying he's never seen the scanner be overloaded before. He thinks as he dodges the sneak attack of a 1-pointer robot.

He turns around and kicks it while activating One for All.  

[10% Activated]

The 1-pointer literally implodes from the impact of his kick. Izuku looks at it in shock, did he just do that?

Shaking himself out of it, reminding himself he's still in the exam he rushes to the next robot he sees. Another examinee is struggling to fight with a 2-pointer robot, Izuku realizes that he gets more out of One for All when he uses his legs, so he kicks the robot in the leg with One for All activated and the 2-pointer also implodes from the attack.

The other examinee yells at him "Hey! Don't steal my points! Kill stealer!"

The backlash of activating One for All in emergency situations was rough. Izuku ended up with both his legs broken and his right arm shattered beyond repair. It would have been disastrous if Recovery Girl didn't exist. She chided him about that too. 

She eventually just sighed and said, "All Might picked a reckless boy just like himself" Izuku was going to ask what she meant by that before the screen appeared.

Izuku practically exploded. "You have the system too!" 

"Yes, foolish boy, did All Might not teach you everything about the system yet?" She looked dismay. "Of course, that big oaf would leave his successor in the dark" she mumbled to herself.

Before Izuku could ask about that another screen popped up and it shook him to his very core.

Izuku nods his head warily. Maybe the principal will be able to help him with this strange quirk he's found himself with. He accepts both their friend requests and heads to meet Nedzu in the principal's office.

"Navigate Nedzu?" Izuku's never heard of navigating with the system before. A floating arrow appeared in front of his chest that Izuku assumes leads to Nedzu himself, not just his office. Is it because they're now friends?

He takes a moment to meditate, focusing on his calm mind. He's going to be okay. Nedzu is a hero, he must just want to help me figure out how to use the system to my advantage to become a great hero. Thinking that to be the most likely conclusion, Midoriya steels himself puts his hands into fist and makes it to Nedzu's office.

The door opens before he even attempts to open the door himself. "Welcome Midoriya-kun, I'm sure you have a lot of questions. First have some tea."

"You have an idea of who they are."

"All Might being the first one to have the system figured out how to give the system to others through friend requests." Nedzu started to explain. 

"Only the One for All user, that would be you, can invite new people to the system." Nedzu stirred his tea. "All Might invited a lot of people into the system, ones that can study it, like Sir Nighteye and I. Ones that would greatly benefit from it, like Recovery Girl and David Shield. Ones that having it would be useful for the future, like Gran Torino, All Might's teacher and Star and Stripes." 

Midoriya listened to the names in shock. "So many famous people have this system in their hands..." 

"Yes, it's a closely guarded secret and it wasn't able to spread beyond All Might himself until now." Nedzu put his paws together. "After your showing in the practical exam, I realized I am now able to invite the UA faculty into the system. I suspect this might have been an update from the system to guarantee your safety during your time here in UA."

Midoriya thought more about it. "Does the system think I need more assistance than I already do. That I'm incompetent..." Midoriya looked devastated at that idea.

Comforting people had never been Nedzu's strong suit, but he'd attempt his best for his future student. "You're not incompetent. You're a student with a lot to learn, you'll get better and having greater access to the system without suspicion would greatly improve your capabilities."

Midoriya felt vulnerable and uncomfortable in front of Nedzu, the smartest being on the planet. He didn't want to be incompetent in front of him. He wanted help with this new quirk of his. 

"Scan" Nedzu said. Midoriya felt like a bug under a microscope. "Oh no we can't have that now." Nedzu mumbled to himself. He put his paws up in a reassuring gesture. "Relax Midoriya-kun, I do not think any less of you at all. Quite the contrary, it's wonderful that All Might selected such a capable individual like yourself. I see that you've already acquired a title!"

"I've acquired a few, along with achievements." Midoriya mumbled out, still stressed but using meditation techniques and calm mind skill to ground himself.

"Ah yes, I've noticed that acquiring achievements are better than titles as they're permanent whereas titles have to be equipped and unequipped. I wonder if the system could fix that?" Nedzu seemed to ask himself.

"I'm really getting the hang of this culinary thing" Izuku mumbles to himself with a smile as he consumes his creations. 

"This is really something honey" His mom says with a smile. "I feel so much better after eating this" She looks at it closer, "Why is the katsudon green?" 

"Ah- it helps with health benefits to add more greens to the dish" Izuku explains to his mom in a rush. If only he could tell her about the system... wait, could he?

"Friend request Midoriya Inko" He mumbles to himself. 

"Ah!" His mom shouts in surprise.

"Honey" She looks at him in confusion.

"What is this? Did you somehow manifest a quirk?" She's very concerned. 

"Mom, I unlocked this system, and it works as a quirk. I learned yesterday that I am able to send friend requests and essentially gift some aspects of this system to other people as well." Izuku explained in a rush.

His mom looks at him warily as she points to something in the air that he can't see. He assumes she just accepted his friend request. 

"Relations" He mumbles to himself

It's just as he thought. Since he added his mom as a friend, she now had access to the system and therefore was a 'player' so instead of being a relation she was now a- "Friend"

"Mom when we both have time, let's explore the system together!" Izuku said with a smile as he cleaned his spot from the table.

He had to assure his mom multiple times that he'd be okay at home while she went to work. Guess showing her the system spooked her. 

Now it's time to raise all my stats by at least 1 point. Izuku thinks as he gets ready to train at the beach. 

He learned from Nedzu that the stats increase on an exponential curve, so the higher the stat, the harder to grow. 

Once I finish training, I'll do more research into different food dishes. Maybe try some from the meal plan All Might gave me, those have to be dishes that increase stats!

"Okay mom, this is what I need help on." Izuku said as he led his mom to the kitchen where he had made lots of unique dishes. 

"There's a culinary section of the system and each of these improves stat points for a limited amount of time. Now normally it wouldn't be helpful to make a lot of dishes because they'll spoil but-" He waves his arm and the dishes disappear. "I unlocked the inventory system." He shows off to his mom. She looks on in shock. "Items in the inventory get put into a stasis. Fresh food will stay fresh even when they've been in there for a long period of time." He smiles at his mom. "Currently I have 20 slots of storage, I'll now get 5 more slots with every level up." 

"Wow, this is a lot to take in." Inko said looking at her happy son. "I'm glad this makes you happy, sweetheart." She hugs her son then pulls away to look into his eyes and hold his hands. "Okay. I'll help you find out which dishes are best for you."

Then, the two get cooking all throughout the night. They also realize that Inko also has the inventory system and a modest 45 slots. 

In the morning, they both find themselves passed out in the kitchen covered in baking soda, flour, sugar, and other ingredients. 

"Looks like we had a lot of fun last night" His mom says with a laugh. "Might've gone a bit overboard."

"I think it's because our exhaustion levels both reached 100%. It comes with the system." Izuku explains to his mother before laughing at their mess of a kitchen. "We certainly did." He stumbles a little bit on the mess as he stands up. "This is going to take a while to clean, I wonder if the system has mini-games for mundane tasks like cleaning. That would be cool!"

"The system responds to requests and criticism?" his mom asks in amazement.

"It's a sentient quirk, mom." Izuku smiles at her excitedly. "It responds to outside input to improve, so it's always getting better and helping the user."

"That's certainly helpful to know." Inko looks at the system with a critical eye. "Is there a waypoint system?"

"Yes, please set a waypoint at 'Midoriya Residence'

"Mom that's so cool!" Izuku looks at his mom in surprise. Nedzu must've already thought of this, so why hadn't it been brought up in their last meeting. Are waypoints a new thing with Izuku's version of the system? Must be. 

"Okay son, let's start these minigames so we can give feedback to your quirk!" Inko looks at her son happily completing the task at hand.

Seems like this quirk might bring one thing back to their once desolate household: laughter.

"Did you use this fancy new quirk of yours during the entrance exam?" His mom questions him after they danced around cleaning the kitchen. 

"Y-yes. I actually got it a month ago.." Izuku says slightly ashamed that he hadn't consulted with his mother as soon as it happened. Yet, he still hasn't told her the secret about One for All.

Inko playfully nudges her son. "Izuku~ you should've told me. I would've made celebratory katsudon and then we could've gone to the quirk specialist about it."

Hearing her mention the quirk specialist startles Izuku. "T-there's no need to do that, I had a meeting with Principal Nedzu about it and everything's all sorted out!" He couldn't talk to a quirk specialist about All Might's quirk. What if he screws up and then All Might's personal information is leaked! That'd be a whole world of trouble!!

"Alright, I'm glad." Inko looks at her son proudly. "Let's still have that celebratory katsudon" She heads over to the now clean kitchen to make some, not missing the big smile that grows on her son's face. "Thank you, mom!"

A week later.. 

Izuku wakes up to a soft beeping noise. "mh" he groans and swats at the air, which miraculously makes the beeping noise stop for a little bit. He rolls over and a few seconds later the beeping noise is back. He opens his eyes to see all the screens popping up in front of him.

It was blissfully silent after those messages went through. He saw why in the morning.

Aizawa has not been having a very good day. Not even a good second. His husband Hizashi, he loves very much, was very upset when he refused to come into bed and cuddle last night and instead stay up studying the new first year class, he'd be the homeroom teacher for. 

Now, he doesn't normally look at the files. A throwaway comment from Nedzu had him concerned. "I'd keep a very close eye on that one." He told Aizawa. 

'That one' turned out to be a student known as Midoriya Izuku, who just so happens to have manifested his quirk a month ago. 

Which is highly suspicious and if he didn't have both All Might, Nedzu, and Chiyo vouching for him, Aizawa would've kicked him to the curb as soon as possible. Heroics is not a place for untrained kids. It's a dangerous environment that needs people who have known and honed their quirks for years. 

He'll test the kid tomorrow.. -he looked at the clock 5:53AM it read.- today. If the kid fumbles, he's expelled and moved down to the general course.

Izuku awoke to a soft ringing noise, he looked over at the screens in front of him. Looks like he has a long day ahead of him, before the school day even begins. 

"Mom!" Izuku calls as he finishes getting ready, even though he couldn't figure out how to tie his tie.

Izuku stares at the message in disbelief. "Seriously, I haven't seen any favor messages in a while and this is what I see after that long pause?" Izuku frowns. "I thought for sure I'd get some during the entrance exam, but I didn't is there a reason for that?"

"Dungeon break?" Midoriya said in confusion. "There's dungeons now?"

"I requested the system to make a tutorial dungeon to test your progress with the stockpile!" All Might responded. "So go at it young Midoriya, let's see how you fare!"

One brave crab comes scuttling towards him. It's pincers snapping as it rapidly opens and closes them, the sound only getting louder as it approaches. 

The sound is hypnotizing and Izuku has to shake himself out of just standing there watching it. Something is not right here.

It continues dancing, waving its arms around and snapping its pincers rhythmically. Izuku frowns gets into a fighting stance and yells "You're not fooling me!"

He kicks the crab in the arm, without activating One for All, and the arm goes flying. Not even giving it a second to breath, he kicks off its other arm. 

He activates One for All in his right hand and punches its shell, if he broke the 0-Pointer, he could break this shell. The punch goes right through the crab, slicing it in half.  

Pain spikes through his right hand. "Cast healing hands."

"Cast flash!" he says as he aims his hands at the next approaching crab. The bright light blinds it, so he is able to kick it to defeat it easily.

He goes ham on the approaching crabs, sometimes using one for all, sometimes not. Eventually, he finishes attacking the crabs and no more of them appear. He looks over at All Might. "That's the last of them, right?" He says with a breathy smile. All Might doesn't respond, and the ground starts rumbling. Izuku turns to see a huge mass of flesh and teeth jump out of the sand towards him. 

"Scan!" he yells as he dodges the attack, and thing hides back under the sand.

"There's a sand category of magic? It must be a subcategory under rock." Izuku mumbles to himself. "Level 25 isn't too bad, perfect for a tutorial mob."

He waits for the worm to emerge from the sand, and it takes a few tries but eventually he jumps inside the mouth of the worm and attacks it from inside its stomach killing it.

"That's right my boy!" All Might sets him down and puts his hands on Izuku's shoulders. "You performed well, it seems you've gotten used to using One for all and acquired some type of healing magic so that you don't have to rely on Recovery Girl. I'm proud of you." He pats Midoriya's shoulders.

Izuku's eyes well up with tears, he rubs them away with a smile and clenches his fists in front of his chest. "I won't let you down All Might!" 

"No, you won't." All Might sighs happily. "You better run along to school now, it isn't heroic to be late!" All Might yells as he jumps into the air. "I'll see you there!"

Izuku waves his hand high in the air until he can't see All Might anymore. "Does he not know about the waypoint system? or did Nedzu and Recovery Girl not unlock their waypoints for him?" He shakes his head fondly. "Maybe he just forgot."

"Travel to UA Hospital Wing!"

[Welcome to UA Hospital Wing!]

"Recovery Girl?" Izuku questioningly calls when he doesn't see her in the room. "I'm here for a checkup?"

She comes out of her office. "You're sure cutting it close." She walks closer. "Why are you covered in sand? It's dirtying your uniform."

"Ah!" He looks down at himself in surprise. "I didn't realize!" He starts rubbing himself to get the sand off his uniform. 

"Hey! Don't make a mess in the medical room!" Recovery Girl yells at him and smacks her cane against the ground. "Kids these days" She sighs. 

"Next time you're training make sure to change out of your uniform." She chides him. 

"Yes Ma'am." He folds. 

"Now let's check on your arms, make sure the bones healed correctly." She brings out an X-ray. 

After all that's said and done, she gives him a clean bill of health.

[Friend Quest: Check Up! Complete!]

"Hurry along now, there's not much time left till school starts." She sighs. "I hope to not see you in here again! Stay healthy!"

"I w-will!" He promises.

"Travel UA Principal Office."

[Traveling..]

"Hey-" he starts before he finds himself tightly wrapped in some kind of cloth. He blinks in surprise. 

"Who are you and what are you doing here?!" A deep voice demands. "Midoriya?" The middle-aged man says in confusion and suspicion. "your quirk didn't mention teleportation." The hagride man looks over at Nedzu. "You were expecting him, weren't you?"

The cloth loosens. "Is this what I'm supposed to 'keep an eye on'?" The man walks over to Nedzu seemly ignoring Midoriya completely. 

"But of course, as Midoriya-kun's homeroom teacher you should be aware of his abnormalities and be kept in the loop for his time here at UA." Nedzu puts his paws together.

"Don't you think so, Midoriya-kun?" 

If the man really is his homeroom teacher, then it would be beneficial if he knew about the system and could help him apply these new changes to hero work. He nods. 

Nedzu claps his paws. "Then it's settled. Friend Aizawa Shouta." Nedzu smiled. 

Aizawa abruptly jumped back and seemed to be attacking thin air. He violently swatted at what must be the friend request message. It seems he'll have trouble adjusting. 

"Friend Aizawa Shouta." Izuku mumbled to himself after Aizawa stopped attacking the air and instead seemed to study the message and then glare at Nedzu. 

Then the man turned his glare on Izuku and suddenly Izuku felt foggy. His senses dulled and all he could stare at was those red glowing eyes. He noticed the world tilting and next thing he knew he was staring at the ceiling. 

"Seems erasure has adverse effects when the system is involved." Nedzu's voice rang in his eyes as he felt his senses come back to him. 

"Midoriya-kun, you should spend some time training in the settings menu. It'll make you less vulnerable to attacks that mess with your senses." Nedzu advised.

"I accepted both your friend requests. Though I am unhappy to learn about your quirk so late." The grumpy man huffed. "See you in class, travel 1A classroom." 

A dim light covered Aizawa's body, and he disappeared, presumably to the 1A classroom. 

"He might not seem like it, but he actually likes your complicated complex quirk. Even if it'll give him a bit of a headache." Nedzu assures him. "Would you like some tea?"

"Careful with all the system updates Midoriya-kun" Nedzu said gravely. "I pray you don't fall into the fate of being a jack of all trades, master of none."

"Don't worry. I'll master all aspects of this quirk and become a hero who saves everybody!" Izuku showed Nedzu his conviction.

"I'll be watching." Nedzu promises. 

"I'll make sure not to disappoint." Izuku counters as he finishes his tea with a sigh. "Travel to 1A classroom"

[Error: Waypoint Locked]

"Seems like I have to impress Aizawa-sensei first." Izuku concludes. 

"Good luck Midoriya-kun." Nedzu waves as Izuku leaves.

Now to find my classroom. "Navigate Aizawa." Izuku breathes a sigh of relief as the guidance arrow appears. This system sure is helpful in many ways. 

As he's walking through UA, he takes a deep breath. He made it, he's now a heroic's student!

[Enemy Approaching!]

Izuku barely gets any warning before he's shoved against the wall. "Ah-" he lets out in surprise. 

"What is a quirkless wannabe like you doing in UA?" Kacchan snarls. "You really think they want someone like you, when they now have me?!" 

Kacchan is so close that I can feel his breath on my face. "K-kacchan-" I feel my face getting hotter, likely from embarrassment. It has to be embarrassment, right?

"Deku" Kacchan hisses in response. Kacchan moves closer and suddenly all Izuku can think about is that their lips are almost touching. "K-kacchan?" 

"You're beneath me, Deku." Kacchan reminds him. "You've always been" Kacchan emphasizes the point by pushing on Izuku's chest. 

However, Izuku isn't the same wimpy kid from junior high. He doesn't fall backward like he used to. That's when they both realize something. Izuku is now taller than Kacchan.

"The hell Deku!" Kacchan screams in shock. "You think just because you've grown a couple inches, that you're on the same level as me?"

Izuku doesn't know what came over him, maybe it's the fact that his stats prove himself to be stronger than Kacchan. Maybe he wants to test it out. Or maybe he's been yearning for Kacchan to see him as an equal for so long that he just can't hold himself back. He flips their positions and now Kacchan's the one against the wall, Kabedon.

Kacchan grabs Izuku's arms. "Just what are you playing at Deku!?" 

Seeing how Kacchan isn't immediately attacking him with his quirk, Izuku continues. "I understand you're worried about me Kacchan-"

Kacchan let's off a couple explosions and attempts to free himself from Izuku's warm and gentle hold. "You don't understand shit-" he yells. However, he seems shocked that he can't escape from Izuku as easily as he thought he'd be able to. 

Izuku pushes Kacchan further into the wall. He becomes slightly self-conscious when he hears the whispers of other students who are watching the interaction in awe. However, he pushes onward, he needs to prove himself to Kacchan. "I'm not the same helpless worthless kid anymore!" 

Izuku moves his face in closer to Kacchan's. "So you don't have to pretend that you don't want to be my Friend Katsuki Bakugo. Not anymore." 

After that outburst, Kacchan looks pissed and he's obviously about to retort and start a screaming match. Except, he suddenly freezes in shock. He's staring at something in front of him that Izuku can't see but knows what it is. 

Kacchan looks up at Izuku in disbelief. "What. is. this. shit." He points at what must be the friend request. 

"Why don't you see for yourself if you're so smart?" Izuku retorts. He doesn't know where this confident side of him came from, maybe it's from the extra charisma points he just earned. 

"We are not friends Deku." Kacchan grumbles. "We can't be." 

Izuku laughs. "What's stopping us?" He grabs Kacchan's hands. "Are you scared, Kacchan?" Izuku sends a meaningful look as he stares deeply into Kacchan's eyes. 

"Hell no!" Kacchan rips his hands away. "I'm not scared or intimidated by anything!" He pokes at the air. "That includes you, Deku."

"Friends?" Izuku questions as he offers his hand out to Kacchan. 

Kacchan looks at it with distain. "You wish." 

Kacchan walks away, presumeably to his classroom. 

"I wonder if Kacchan and I share a class like we always have." Izuku mumbles to himself as he looks at the friends list.

"So, it was Kacchan." Izuku says with a slight blush. "I don't know what came over me." He puts his hands on his face in embarrassment. "Kacchan is so cool and talented... he's always been that way." 

To think that he has a chance with Kacchan is like saying the moon has a chance with the sun. "It's like syzygy just happened."

"It's interesting to note that befriending a love interest does not in fact remove them from the lovers tab like it would the relations tab." Izuku analyzes to get his mind off Kacchan.

"That means I can friend Uraraka-san and the rest of class 1A without any issues!" Izuku says happily. 

[Message from Nedzu]

["I'd be careful about who you let know about the system, it IS a closely guarded secret after all."]

"Crap can Nedzu hear me?" Izuku mumbles to himself anxiously. "I'd better think more on it, but I definitely want Uraraka-san to have the system. She's the first girl whose been kind to me." saying it out loud made Izuku realize how depressing his life has been up until he got One for All and by extension, the system.

He shakes his head. Now is not the time to think about that. He has to get to his classroom before he is late. 

It appears the arrow disappeared, maybe the system realized he was preoccupied, or it has a time limit or just vanishes when it's not being paid attention to.

Izuku will probably figure it out eventually. There's so much to keep track of with his quirk that it's making his head spin. 

There's only one thing he has to focus on now. "Navigate Aizawa." 

This time he makes sure to pay attention to the arrow. Let's hope life doesn't throw in anymore surprises. 

Chapter Text

Izuku didn't know how to feel when he heard familiar shouting inside the door of his new classroom. Looks like fate decided we'd be together again. 

He takes a deep breath and opens the door. 

"I'm Iida Tenya from Soumei junior high." Iida is currently trying to introduce himself to Kacchan. 

Izuku doesn't feel as anxious as he thought he should. Must be that boosted charisma stat.

"Hey Iida-san," He starts to say as he walks over to them. "Kacchan just has really bad social skills. He doesn't mean to offend you or UA." He informs Iida.

"Hah?!" Bakugo explodes but is ignored by both of them. 

"Ah you're the boy from the entrance exam!" Iida shouts in recognition. He walks over to Midoriya and grabs his hands. "It was very commendable of you to save that girl, you must've seen the hidden meaning of the exam and capitalized upon it." 

Izuku shakes his head with a smile. That must be what the system meant by 'admirer'. "Oh, no that wasn't it at all, I just thought she was in danger and acted accordingly as if it was a real-life situation and not just the UA entrance exam." Izuku chuckles. 

Iida let's go of Izuku's hands like they burned him, and his face develops a pretty flush. "So, there's still courageous, good people like you." Iida mumbles to himself. "May I have the honor of knowing your name?"

"Oh, of course!" Izuku shouts, not realizing that Iida didn't know his name yet. "I'm Midoriya Izuku, pleasure to meet you. I hope we get along." 

"Iida Tenya, and same here." They shake hands. Izuku realizes this is the perfect moment, but before he can say anything two things happen simultaneously.

[New Love Interest!]

Iida Tenya: The Knight

The door opens. "Hey, you're the kind boy who saved me in the entrance exam!" The cute girl from before, Uraraka-san, shouts. 

She walks over to them, before she says anything she openly stares at their held hands. "Are you two?" She questions sounding sad. 

They both internally question themselves to what she means before they both look down at their clasped hands. "Ah" Iida shouts letting his hand drop. 

Midoriya doesn't let go immediately, he had found their handholding comforting. Perhaps Iida had also?

"We just met." Iida let's out in a rush. "Midoriya is simply a commendable man, and we shook hands, nothing more than that." yet. 

"I see" Uraraka says skeptically before shaking her head and smiling at Midoriya. 

"I'm Uraraka Ochako. Nice to meet you." She offers her hand to Midoriya. 

"Midoriya-" before he can finish, they're interrupted. 

"You're not here to make friends." Aizawa gets up from behind the podium. "Now sit down." He glares at them, his red eyes gleaming. 

All the students who weren't in their seats hurriedly find them.

"Now as your homeroom teacher at UA, I have a lot of leeway with what I can do." Aizawa starts. "So, we'll be having a quirk assessment outside on the field. Go find the changing rooms and meet me there." Before anyone can question him, Aizawa disappears in a bright light.

"How does he already have a waypoint for the field?"

Izuku eyes widen in shock. Nedzu and the UA faculty are really taking advantage of the Waypoint system. 

"Our teacher has a teleportation quirk!!" A beautiful girl with pink skin and horns yells in excitement. "How cool is that?" 

"It's a rare quirk, but how are we supposed to find our way to the field he mentioned?" an emo looking girl with an obvious quirk mutation in her ears asks.

Deciding to use his newfound confidence, Midoriya steps up. "I know the way to the field." He raises his hand. 

"Okay Midoriya-kun, we'll follow you." Iida says as his arm makes a chopping motion. 

"Like hell am I following Deku!" Kacchan explodes and leaves the room. 

With that vote of confidence, Izuku just follows after him. Once he believes himself to be far enough away from the pack, he whispers "Navigate Aizawa". 

That's when he realizes he'd been going the wrong direction. "Uh- sorry guys, Kacchan distracted me, it's this way!" 

"Are you sure you know the way?" some kid with an electric stripe in his hair asks. 

"Positive." Izuku confirms. "You can trust me" he puts his hand over his heart as a sign of trust. 

"Okay dude." A boy with black hair and elbow mutations agrees. 

They all follow him and are seemingly surprised when they make it to the changing rooms.

"Wow greenie really DID know the way!" a short purple haired kid shrieks.

They each file into their own changing rooms. Midoriya gets some appreciative comments as he holds the door for the boy's locker room. 

Once all the boys go inside, Midoriya lets go of the door intending to go inside himself before he notices the short purple ball haired boy from before. 

"Aren't you coming inside to change?" Midoriya questions him. 

The boy is seemingly in a daze and drooling while looking at the girl's locker room door. 

"Scan" Midoriya whispers when the boy doesn't reply.

[Mineta Minoru]

Status effect: Stunned

How did this kid make it into UA. Midoriya knows he shouldn't judge, but seriously, the average junior high student was stronger than this kid. 

"Mineta-san" Midoriya said respectfully. Can't judge people for being weak. He was weak once, it'd be hypocritical.

"Hmm?" Mineta hummed without looking at him. 

"It's time for the quirk assessment; we can't be late." Midoriya reminded him. 

"Alright, I'll be there." Mineta whispered, still not looking at him. 

Midoriya had a bad feeling as he looked between Mineta and the girl's locker room door. 

"Mineta." Midoriya says roughly and he grabs Mineta's arm and leads him to the boy's locker room, where he belongs. "Let's go now."

"Noo~" Mineta whines but it sounds like a moan. "I wanna see all the pretty ladies~" 

"Later. When you have genuine consent." Izuku tells him. 

"That'll never happen." Mineta despairs. 

That's when Midoriya drops him, as they are now safely inside the boy's locker room. Midoriya sighs. 

"Look Mineta, one day you might find a girl who falls for your.. charms. Right now though, you should focus on getting changed."

Midoriya gets up and starts to walk away, but Mineta grabs onto his leg. "You believe I have charms?" 

"Everyone does." Midoriya smiles down at him. Trying to be as polite as possible. 

Mineta's eyes widen. "W-what's your name?" He asks with starry eyed admiration. 

Midoriya looks at him confused. "Midoriya Izuku?" it comes out as a question. 

Mineta leans on Midoriya's leg and breathily whispers. "Can I call you Izu-chan?"

He practically slobbers all over Midoriya's leg with how much he's drooling from excitement...

Izuku mentally and physically recoils upon hearing that squeaky, whiny little voice call him by such a cutesy name. Especially when the system reveals the implications behind it. 

"M-mineta-san" Izuku stumbles out the words as his mouth feels dry. "I- we're not close." 

"We could get closer~" Mineta puts himself completely against Midoriya's leg. "You know you want me~"

"I-" before Midoriya can answer. The rest of the boys finish changing and go to leave through the only exit which is conveniently right behind the two of them.

The most handsome guy Izuku's ever seen with half red half white hair and heterochromia. His voice is like ice as he says "Do you mind, we all have somewhere to be. You're in the way." He glares at them and Izuku feels electrified by his stare.

Todoroki Shouto: Ice Prince

"Um sure no problem!" He squeaks but Mineta isn't having it. 

"That's so rude" he spits. "Don't you see we're having an intimate moment?" He squeezes Midoriya's leg and rests his head against his thigh. 

Izuku internally revolts. He waves his arms around frantically getting increasingly embarrassed as he realizes all the boys from his class are witnessing this moment. At least Kacchan isn't here. Izuku internally sighs in relief. One problem avoided, now there's just oh 99 more. 

"It's not what it looks like!" Izuku spits out. "I'm just going to go change!" He forces his leg out of Mineta's slimy hold and runs to the other corner of the locker room where his gym uniform is. 

He feels everyone's eyes on him as he changes at lightning speed, quite literally as he activated the flash spell. 

"Whoa, he's ripped!" Someone with red spiky hair stage whispers. 

"I know right!" Mineta drools. 

Everyone looks at him in disgust. 

"Oh that's not very heroic..." The guy from before whispers again. 

Izuku finished changing and leaves Mineta alone in the locker room. 

He walks with the other guys to the field. They join the girls and Kacchan.

"It took you all way too long to get ready and get out here." Aizawa ridicules. "If this were a heroic mission you all would've been fired."

"Now.. wait." Aizawa scans the crowd. "We're still missing one." 

That's when Mineta comes trailing over to the class. He seems upset. 

"Kid." Aizawa directs at Mineta. "You're expelled."

"Wah- Me?" Mineta points at himself and Aizawa nods. "The whole class took way too long but you're even worse than that. No exceptions, you're expelled. Go to Principal Nedzu's office immediately." 

"You can't blame me for this! It was love at first sight!" Mineta screams indignantly. 

Aizawa has had enough. "You're expelled. I'll have the robots escort you." 

Robots appeared to escort Mineta, who struggled the entire way kicking and screaming about how it wasn't fair. 

"Now, as you can see. I have the right to expel any of you when you step out of line." Aizawa glared at the remaining students with his glowing red eyes. 

"And I mean anyone, no special privileges can save you." He seemed to be staring directly at Midoriya as he said that. 

"Now then," Aizawa deactivated his quirk. "Bakugo. What was your ball throw score in junior high?"

"67 meters. Teach." Bakugo responded.

"Let's see how it is with your quirk." Aizawa offered Bakugo a baseball. 

"Don't leave the circle." Aizawa commanded. 

"Fly!" Bakugo yelled at the ball as he let off big explosions and caused the ball to go flying.

"Perfect" Aizawa said as he displayed the score to the rest of the class. 

They promptly exploded. 

"Wow!"

"UA is on another level!"

"We can use our quirks!! I'm so excited!"

"This'll be so much fun!"

"Fun." Aizawa interrupted coldly with a glowing red glare. The class shut up instantly.

"Hero work is anything but fun, it's dangerous. You need to be on your guard at all times ready for an attack." 

Aizawa let the silence hang for a long while as the kids digested what he just said.

"Now, let's begin the quirk assessment."

Izuku was better at controlling one for all with the system's help. He was able to use it effectively in most of the tests. 

But he broke his hand during the grip strength test. 

"Cast Healing Hands" he whispered hoping nobody noticed. They did.

Eventually it was time for the meter dash, he was paired with Kacchan. Feeling a burst of confidence, he looked over at Kacchan. "I'll beat you this time and prove that I can be a hero too!" He declared. 

Bakugo huffed in annoyance. "As if." 

It started and Izuku activated a small percentage of One for All in both his legs. He beat Kacchan by .5 miliseconds but he tripped over himself after the finish line. 

"What the hell Deku." Kacchan grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. "There's something seriously wrong with you and I WILL find out what." He dropped his hold. 

The class watched on in confusion. 

"It's a rivalry between men" Uraraka stage whispered.

Finally, it came time for Midoriya's turn at the ball throw. 

He activated One for All at 100% in his arm attempting to get an outstanding score in at least one test. Then suddenly he felt the world fizz out, he stumbled but this time he didn't fall over or faint. He turned to look behind him and all he could focus on was Aizawa's red glowing eyes. 

"Have you learned anything from the entrance exam?" He questioned rhetorically. "Being a one hit wonder is not good for hero work, you'll end up being a weak link."

Aizawa continued. "I have half a mind to expel you right now, but I'll give you one more chance." 

This time, Midoriya self-consciously put the ball in his inventory. 

The device Aizawa was holding beeped he looked at it in shock. "What did you do?" 

"I used my quirk." Midoriya answered. "I'm not as weak as you think I am!" He declared. "Just watch me." 

Aizawa grinned. "We'll see."

Bakugo watched on in confusion. What happened to the nerd? Whatever it was, he didn't like it.

"Midoriya-kun, let's walk to the train station together." Iida says as they both leave the classroom at the end of the school day. 

"Ah, I have no need to go to the station." Izuku declines, thinking about using the waypoint system. 

"Deku-kun, Iida-kun! Can I join?" Uraraka calls. 

"Deku?" Izuku questions her. 

"That's your name, right? Midoriya Deku?" Uraraka explains. "I heard Bakugo-kun mumbling it to himself."

"Ah, Deku is the name he uses to make fun of me." Izuku tells her. "I'd prefer if you didn't call me that."

"It sounds like Dekiru though!" She whines cutely. "Y'know you can do it!"

"Deku it is!" Midoriya screams with a completely flushed face. He just couldn't stand her cuteness. 

"You agreed to that so easily." Iida comments.

Izuku had horrible nightmares last night, all of which included a certain grape-looking boy.

"It's your fault." He tells the quirk. "Mineta would've never fallen for me if it wasn't for my higher charisma stat."

"I know so." Izuku concluded with a sigh. "I just felt so confident yesterday, like the world was my oyster."

[Has that way of thinking changed?]

"No, if anything I feel more confident than yesterday." Izuku sighed. "I want to win over my space girl. Show her the system."

"Now you've gone and made it a quest..." Izuku groans.

"I'll try. Maybe I should make her a rainbow smoothie?"

"Whatever I decide to do, I'd better do it now." Izuku says as he looks at the clock. He grabs a rainbow smoothie, puts it in his inventory, and hugs his mother. 

"Travel 1A Classroom." 

"It worked!" Izuku shouted in surprise. Spooking all of his classmates who were already in the classroom. 

"Midoriya-kun, you have the same quirk as our teacher?" Iida asks the obvious question. 

"That's highly unlikely." A beautiful girl with a ponytail states. 

"We'd like an explanation, kero." A short, cute girl with dark forest hair. 

"Yeah dude, the way you appeared just now is the same way Sensei disappeared." The electric boy jumps into his line of sight. 

"You don't look alike, but are you his son or something?" The boy with spiky red hair asked. 

Izuku meanwhile felt like a complete idiot. Of course there would be students in the classroom. Duh. 

"Now everyone, I'm sure there's a logical explanation for this." Iida tried to calm everyone down. 

"We're all just curious." The cute, pink-skinned girl from yesterday said. "Right, everyone?"

Her question was answer with a chorus of affirmations. 

Izuku tried to think of a way out of this, and he only came up with one useable conclusion. 

"I can share my quirk with others, like my friend Iida Tenya." 

"What?!" The class practically exploded. 

"Hah?!" Bakugo actually exploded. "I don't need your stupid quirk Deku!" He yelled. 

Meanwhile Iida looked at the floating screen in front of him. He studied it and hit accept. 

"Everyone calm down." Iida chopped his hand through the air. 

"I was planning on extending an invitation to my quirk, to each of you eventually." Izuku explained. 

"It's a quirk boosting quirk, and it's incredibly useful for heroics." 

"I just need to scan all of you."

"Nice to meet you too" The girl, he now knows to be Jirou, says sarcastically. 

"Wow, it's like a video game!" the boy, now dubbed Kaminari, shouts. "This is so cool, I just want to kiss you!" He blurts.

"Uh wait! Ignore that!" Kaminari now flushes a bright crimson and lets off a few electric shocks.

"It's okay Kaminari! We all know how kissable Midoriya looks!" Mina-san amends.

"This is highly inappropriate way to talk about a fellow classmate!" Momo suddenly shouts. Her words are betrayed by a big blush on her face. 

"It's okay if you want to kiss him too you know~" Mina teases her. 

Midoriya has long since passed out on the floor. His scanner is overloaded and honestly so is his brain. 

"Midoriya-kun" Iida pleads trying to wake him up. 

"Maybe true loves kiss will break the spell~!" teases a voice that can only be Hagakure. "Aw it didn't work~!"

"Wha-?" Midoriya wakes up in confusion, then promptly explodes when he sees the notifications. "What! My first kiss?!"

The party stops when Aizawa comes into the room. "What is all this?" 

Midoriya feels even more confident than yesterday, or even this morning. "Where's Uraraka-san?" 

"Not here yet." Hagakure whispers in his ear. "Is she your girlfriend?" 

"Not yet."

"What?" Izuku looks at the notification in surprise. 

Then he heard a persistent roar he looked over to see Kacchan riding a dragon. 

"You'll never find your precious princess Deku!"

The dragon roared.

And that's when he woke up. 

"What? That was a dream?" Izuku said in surprise. "Was it warning me against using travel to get to my classroom?" That's when he remembered the dream in more detail. "Warning me against Uraraka? Pushing me towards Hagakure?"

Izuku felt a sense of deja vu the entire day.

He felt like he'd done these classes before, overheard the exact same conversations. 

If he didn't know that someone loaded a previous save file, he would be freaking out. 

Because of his "dream", Izuku decided against adding more people to the system. 

It was scary to be bombarded by the entire class about his quirk. 

It's as Nedzu said, it's a close guarded secret. It should remain that way. 

"I'm coming through the door like a normal person!"

"All Might!" A lot of students including Midoriya yelled. 

Something felt different. 

"And I've brought Aizawa-san too!"

That was it. 

Why is Aizawa-sensei here for heroics class?

Izuku has a bad feeling.

Especially when he remembers that is quirk warned him about this class.

Something must've gone wrong. 

"Here are your costumes!" All Might exclaimed. "Go get changed into proper heros!"

Izuku ended up leading the rest of the class sans Bakugo to the locker rooms again. 

"Deku, how do you already know your way around the school?" Uraraka-san asks. 

"I'm just good with directions." He lies; he can't just tell her they've all lived this day before. Even if he doesn't consciously remember most of it. 

He'd ask the system about why later.

Unlike yesterday, Izuku is the first one changed and ready.

"Navigate Yagi." Izuku says under his breath to avoid suspicion.

He blissfully follows the arrow, the rest of the class trailing behind.

"Young Midoriya good to see you!" All Might remarks when Izuku appears out of the shadows. "And the rest of you of course" He hesitantly adds once he sees the rest of the class behind his successor. 

A few classmates offer their own unique greetings. 

"Deku, nice costume!" Uraraka compliments. "Reminds me of a cute bunny." 

"T-that wasn't exactly what I was going for." Izuku says in embarrassment. 

"Same here, I wanted mine to be more like Pro Hero Thirteen." Uraraka explains. "A fluffy space theme, instead they gave me this skintight suit" 

"It looks great on you, really highlights your figure" Izuku confidently complimented.

Uraraka flushed. "Thanks Deku." She whispered.

"We'll draw lots to determine teams" All Might continued explaining. They seemed to have accidentally talked through All Might's explanation. 

[Villain Quest: Protect the Bomb!]

Keep the Bomb hidden until the timer runs out. 

He and Kacchan are the villains while Iida and Uraraka are the heroes. Somehow this is even worse than last time.

"Kacchan, we have to work together, or we'll lose." Izuku pleads with his childhood friend. "You must understand that, right?"

"I'm not going to lose to your new little friends" Kacchan snarls. "They're nothing compared to me." 

"You're severely underestimating them, Kacchan." Izuku explains, but Kacchan won't even hear it. 

"I'll take them both out you hear me!" Kacchan yells in his face. "Nobody beats me. Nobody."

That's when Kacchan leaves the room to Izuku. 

Anyway, that's how Izuku found himself in charge of guarding the bomb. 

"Scan"

Well, that's not helpful. 

"Can't I get like a map of the situation?" 

[Scanning building schematics]

That's when he realized something important. Uraraka was "Space Girl" for a reason. She wasn't on the map.

Iida and Bakugo had met and were currently fighting, but Uraraka was nowhere to be seen. 

Izuku quickly rushed to the open window and there she was waiting with a smile. "Hey Deku!" She waved cheerily. Wasn't she the cutest thing Izuku had ever laid eyes on?

[Cuteness Overload!]

And long story short. They lost. Kacchan got knocked out by Iida, and Midoriya fainted due to Uraraka's cuteness. 

Aizawa sighed, at least no bombs went off and no bones were broken. Something changed this time. 

"Who's next!" All Might shouted after the winners were declared.

Izuku woke up in pain. Not too much pain though. It was worse last time. This time he hadn't used his quirk, broken any bones, or been on the wrong side of Kacchan's quirk. It was much more peaceful.

"Wake up dearie" Recovery Girl's voice sounds out to him. "Drink some of this and eat some gummies."

"Now now, classes are almost over so you can head home." She smiled at him. He knew she wanted him to use the waypoint system for the convient health benefits. He couldn't though.

"Sorry" He says as he got out of bed. She fretted over him as he did so. "I have to check on my classmates; I want to see if any of them were injured."

He has no idea how the battle trials went down for everyone else. He assumes the save was loaded after he broke his bones and passed out after defeating Kacchan.

Recovery Girl let's him leave after making sure he'll be careful. She must remember the previous save. Izuku wonders who reloaded the save.

"Who reloaded the save?"

That made sense, he mustve seen it happen on the cameras and used it as an opportunity to test the new feature.

[Mandatory Quest: Quirk Review]

Now that we've tested how saves and savepoints work with the system,

it's a good time to review so we can better utilize it in the future

That sounds like a smart idea. He'll go do that after checking in with his friends and classmates.

"Navigate Bakugo" He says as an arrow appears. Kacchan must still be in the classroom right?

He wasn't. The arrow pointed down. Probably to the lower floors of UA. How strange. 

"Navigate Aizawa" If he can't use Kacchan to navigate to the classroom, the teacher is the next bet. 

The corresponding arrow made sense to be pointing to the classroom. It would be a lot easier if he could use the waypoint system. Izuku doesn't want a repeat of his nightmare though. So, he's being more cautious. It's for the better. 

The longer it takes for his classmates to realize the full scope of his quirk, the better.

He opens the door to the classroom and is immediately surrounded. Everyone talks over each other, their words full of worry over him. It felt nice. 

These students, classmates, actually cared about his wellbeing. It was a strong change from how he grew up.

He really appreciated their worries, but he was more worried about Kacchan. 

"What happened to Kacchan?" He asked worriedly. 

"Kacchan?" The electric kid, who from his dreams Izuku is sure is named Kaminari, questioned. 

"He is talking about Bakugo Katsuki" Iida answered the question.

Then Iida looked at Midoriya. "I am not sure why, but he was silent after he lost a duel with me. After classes were over he stormed out immediately." 

Izuku's eyes widened. Bakugo is never silent for no reason. There must be something wrong. 

"I have to go see him" Izuku said, not listening to anyone else. He ran out of the classroom. 

"Navigate Ka-" He was so used to calling Kacchan by his nickname. "Navigate Bakugo."

He runs where the arrow points, and Kacchan ends up being in front of the school walking away from it. 

"Kacchan!" Izuku yells at him. Kacchan stops walking and turns around in rage.

"What the hell is this Deku!" He screams. He's in a very emotional state. "Are these shitty dreams your quirks doing?!" 

Dreams? "Kacchan, you know about the previous save?" Izuku asks in disbelief. 

"Of course I do!" He screams louder. "I was against that rat doing it! But he just did it anyway!!!"

He bows his head down in frustration. Izuku never understands Kacchan, even when he thinks he does.

"He wasn't going to do it, but he doesn't understand. I am Katsuki Bakugo! I don't loose ever!! Especially not to a weakling like you!" 

Izuku doesn't understand. Kacchan didn't want the save to be reset? and Nedzu did it anyway??

"You will never be better than me. Deku." Kacchan stares menacingly at him, his usual stare. "I will be the number one hero." 

Kacchan stands up straight and puts his fist to his chest. "I am the greatest!"

He glares and points a finger at Deku. "There's nothing you and your shitty quirk can do about it! You'll never beat me again Deku!"

"I will win."

Chapter Text

"No." Izuku decided then and there. "I will not let you win easily Kacchan." He brings up his own fists. He lets one for all 1% spark in them. 

"I will be the greatest hero." Izuku declares. "A hero who saves everybody!" He stands proudly. "Including you Kacchan!"

Kacchan becomes enraged. "I don't need saving from you Deku!" He launches at Deku.

Izuku gets ready to fight. They are both stopped by a loud bell. 

A robot comes between them. "No fighting outside of training." It warns. 

"I'm not letting scrap metal stop me!" Kacchan yells as he runs to attack the robot. 

Izuku rushes over to protect it. "You can't break school property Kacchan!"

"Like hell I can't" Kacchan tussles with Izuku. Neither one backing down. 

Something needs to intervene. 

"Never fear for I am here!"

They both stop immediately. All Might is here. Their hero!

"What seems to be the problem my boys?" He asks, confused at their situation. 

Izuku immediately steps away from Kacchan and the robot and to All Might. "I'm sorry All Might, it's my fault. I know we aren't allowed to fight outside of sparring matches, and I was going to anyway. I was going to break that rule. I am so so sorry." He feels genuinely remorseful. 

"It's alright Young Midoriya, no harm done." All Might pats him on the back. "A good hero knows restraint, and you've showed that perfectly. Good job!"

Once Izuku was safely inside the building and away from prying eyes, he traveled. 

"Travel UA Principal Office." 

"Ah Midoriya, good to see you."

"I'm sure we can use these to improve your quirk." Nedzu explained. 

Izuku didn't see why. He could see time stop being helpful when accompanied with scan. He didn't not see the need for a narrator. 

"I understand not realizing yet how to capitalize on this complex quirk of yours. That's okay you can learn."

Izuku understood that. Learning and analysis were two things he was good at, and the tea seemed to improve those skills.

"We will have weekly meetings to review and discuss your quirk. Look forward to those." Nedzu's eyes shined. "This is your hero academia!"

They went over all the tabs again. Just to see if there were any improvements that could be made. 

"I do see a lot of improvements that could be made. However, I will refrain now as it is your quirk, Midoriya." Nedzu seemed sad about holding himself back yet determined to help a student learn themselves. 

"My quirk?" Midoriya mumbled to himself. He had still been thinking of it as All Might's quirk. 

"You are the catalyst Izuku Midoriya. Not All Might. It is your quirk." Nedzu reminded him. "Use it as much as possible, scan everything."

Midoriya just couldn't wrap his head around it. This quirk was too awesome and powerful to be just his. It was All Might's after all. 

Nedzu got a bad premonition about Midoriya's mental state. He would do something about that in time. 

"Any improvements you can think of Midoriya?" Nedzu wants to encourage growth in his young pupil. 

"Uh um..." Izuku took some time to think. "Maybe more settings could be added?" 

He felt like Nedzu was disappointed in him. Teachers often were. He was useless. Even when presented with the golden opportunity of a quirk, he still fell short. 

Suddenly an idea sparked in him. "Cosmetics! and Costumes!!" he said in excitement. "A lot of games have a function where you can change outfits and appearance quickly. It wouldn't be out of the ordinary for the One for All System to be able to do that." he continued rambling on about the benefits of such a feature.

"Good job Midoriya. The quirk agrees and is able to do that." Nedzu approved.

He proposed other new ideas, a lot of them weren't accepted, but a good few of them were. 

One for All actually thought Izuku had good contributions!

This made Izuku encouraged that One for All accepted him, and was now actually his quirk, not just All Mights.

He would improve One for All system as much as possible and be a hero that saves everybody!

"Now Midoriya, this has been a productive time. Now it's time to talk about.. the elephant in the room as it will." Nedzu put his hand- paws together. 

"the elephant?" Midoriya asked confused. What could he be talking about?

"The Save System." Nedzu reminded. 

Midoriya felt stupid. How could he forget that?

"I assume that memory issues are a side effect of reloading a save." Nedzu explained. "All 'players' seemed to have memory issues when the save was reloaded."

Midoriya understood now. He had thought it was a dream, and only because he could talk with the quirk, was why he knew otherwise.

Other players linked to the quirk wouldn't have that luxury. At least Midoriya didn't think they did. Although, Nedzu had made a lot of improvements with the catalyst being around.

Midoriya needed to learn as much as he could about this complex quirk, so that he could use it to its fullest and save as many people as possible. 

"Midoriya. I think the side effects would get worse if you reloaded the save a second time. So, try not to do that, even for practice." Nedzu advised. 

"I- I will be careful Nedzu sir" Midoriya promised. 

"Good. Be as careful as possible. Let's make a save here, shall we?"

"S-sure." Midoriya agreed. "Rewrite Save."

Wow 50 points? That's a lot!

"Thank you" Izuku bows to the screen. "I appreciate your support!"

"Oh really?!" Izuku was surprised.

You'd think the past users would have already suggested improvements, maybe they were busy.

Izuku had a bad feeling. He could almost hear suspenseful music playing... oh wait there was suspenseful music playing. 

Where was it coming from?

He looked to both sides of his vision and there he found it.

What did that mean? 

Izuku didn't remember a music update. When did that happen?

He felt like he was forgetting something.

"Midoriya, what's wrong?" The principal's voice broke him out of his musing. 

"Oh uh- Nothing sir." He said as he tried to focus and remember why he was in this office.

"Oh dear." Nedzu put his paws together with a grave look on his face. "Do you not remember what just happened?"

Izuku was confused. Why was he so confused..?

"It seems to be getting worse each time. I'll make sure to document that for you." Nedzu's voice sounded highly concerned. Which was weird to hear from him. 

Izuku got the feeling something was terribly wrong. What was it?

He tried to remember and all that came to mind was scary music, an alarm, and a bunch of corpses in his inventory.

The last one startled him so much he immediately checked his inventory to make sure it wasn't true.

He looked through everything, and he was missing a lot of food. Mostly healing types. 

Something was wrong. At least there were no corpses, that was a small mercy.

"What happened?" Izuku decided to address the elephant in the room. Clearly, he was forgetting something very important.

"Midoriya, on a field trip tomorrow your class will be attacked by villains." Nedzu broke the news.

Izuku was shocked. How could the principal know that? Did he set up the villains on purpose?

"F-fake villains, right?" Izuku said hopefully. "Hired by the school to teach us?"

He sounded so unsure, he hoped what he was thinking wasn't true.

UA couldn't be attacked; it was the best hero school in the country.

"I'm afraid not." Nedzu didn't soften the blow. 

"Did you.." Izuku wanted to ask if Nedzu hired the villains, real villains, to attack the students, because 'how else would he know?' but Izuku stopped himself.

It would be disrespectful to the principal to assume such evil deeds were his doing. Hopefully the reason Nedzu was telling him this was to warn him.

"Midoriya, you are a very capable young student, hero-in-training even. I'm sure you can figure out why I know this." Nedzu was baiting him into something. But what was it?

"Perhaps you can recall the last thing we talked about?" Nedzu said hopefully.

"The last thing?" Izuku tried remembering, but it was all foggy. "I-improvements to my quirk? I think it the biggest one was outfits?"

"Close. Don't worry about that, the support department will finish your preset hero costumes by tomorrow." Nedzu assured. "I will make sure of it."

Izuku felt calmer. He imagined what his hero costume presets would look like. For some reason, it came very easily. He would have one for land, one for water, and one for air. 

The designs were so detailed it was like he was seeing them in person. Weird. It's almost like he had seen them in person...

He was getting Deja vu, when was the last time he felt this way?

He was forgetting something very important. 

"Midoriya. Listen." Nedzu's voice sounded grave. "I fear this may be our last chance."

"Last chance?" Izuku repeated highly worried and confused. "What..." he didn't need to finish his question. He didn't even know what to ask.

"Your memories have deteriorated way too much." Nedzu informed. "Even when I suggest improvements to One for All, you still end up like this. It gets worse every single time."

"Memories?" Izuku tried to remember. Clearly something big was happening. He needed to be informed.

"I'm sorry, I don't understand." He felt inadequate to be a hero. He couldn't even remember what Nedzu was trying to tell him.

"When was the last time you remember feeling like this, Midoriya?" Nedzu guided him. 

"The last time..." Izuku thought back. He recalled a weird dream he had. It felt like a lifetime ago, but it couldn't have been more than a few days ago. 

"It was like a dream about the future.." Izuku tried to recall what happened afterward. Something with another classmate? Hagakure, might be her name? He was worried about something with travelling, and the waypoint system. He can remember that much. 

"What happened after you had that dream, Midoriya?" Nedzu seemed annoyed, but he was probably just worried. 

"Well.." Izuku had a very difficult time recalling. "I.. did things differently than in the dream? because I was warned.."

He felt like this was the right answer. Almost like he had answered this question a million times before. It was weird and trippy. What was happening?

"Midoriya, check your fatigue/exhaustion level. Please" Nedzu asked calmly. 

"Fatigue?" it was always labeled in the quirk as exhaustion, he had never thought of it as fatigue before..

Something was definitely wrong.

Izuku didn't understand. what was that long word? He couldn't read it. He was going to disappoint the principal. 

"I-" he couldn't do it. He didn't want to be reprimanded. Past schoolteachers and principals always had harsh punishments for him. He was a useless, quirkless incompetant student. He was never going to succeed. How dare he even think about becoming a hero? Getting into UA must've been a fluke. He should withdraw his enrollment and get a job suited for someone like him. He was going to fail.

"Midoriya." Nedzu brought him back. "I'm not and never will be angry with you."

"Huh?" Izuku was confused. Thats when he felt the wetness trail down his cheeks. Oh. He had started crying. How embarrassing..

"I-" he had to inhale for a long time; it came out as a wheeze. He coughed. "S-sorry"

"You are a very capable student." Nedzu reminded him. "You've adapted well to this quirk. It's a heavy burden and you've been lifting it very well by yourself."

Izuku felt comforted by those words. He could be a hero, just like All Might. Especially with All Might's quirk.

"It's your quirk, Midoriya." Nedzu reminded him. "You are the catalyst, not All Might."

Izuku was confused as to how Nedzu knew what he was thinking. Then he realized that he had been mumbling.

He felt so embarressed. Moreso though, he felt dead tired and exhausted. 

It felt like he had stayed up without sleeping for months. Something was terribly wrong.

Even when he felt slightly moved by Nedzu's words, he couldn't focus on them. His brain was too foggy.

"Midoriya, please focus." Nedzu's words brought him back once again. "Why are you here?"

He thought hard about it. Why was he here?

He wanted to be a hero, and a hero needs to overcome challenges. This was one such challenge.

"To save people." he concluded. 

Nedzu giggled a little. "That is an admireable goal, the essence of being a hero even."

Izuku could feel a 'but..' coming.

"It's not what I meant when I asked my previous question." Nedzu sighed.

"This must be the last time you do this." Nedzu warned. "Doing it so many times, overloads your brain to the extremes."

"Overloads" Something about that word struck Izuku. Over.. loads?

"Load Save" he said instinctively. It came so naturally like he had said it a million times.. and maybe.. maybe, he thought... he had.

"Midoriya, Do you remember what we were talking about?" 

His mind felt so clear. The memory of the previous few minutes came back to him. 

"I just reloaded a save." He told Nedzu confidently. 

"Oh you did?" Nedzu sounded worried yet pleased. "What happened?"

"Fatigue" Izuku said clearly.

"I think there is a big difference between the catalyst reloading the save, and others reloading a save." Izuku tried to explain.

It was the only thing that made sense. One for All had been overloaded by other players loading the save too often. What had Nedzu said?

"More importantly, Villains will attack UA tomorrow." Izuku informed Nedzu. 

"Do you have more information?" Nedzu prodded. It would be good to have as much information as possible. 

"It will happen during a field trip." Izuku recalled. "You told me yourself."

Nedzu nodded. "Do you have a way of returning memories lost when a save is reloaded?"

"No." Izuku was adamant. "I'm sure the memories themselves are what corrupted my fatigue in the first place."

"It was like a cloud was placed over my mind and it was hard to focus on anything other than deep exhaustion." he informed and started to mumble about specifics. 

"I would like to try having my memories back, if it's okay with you, Midoriya." Nedzu pleaded. 

"Oh.." Izuku thought about it.

Nedzu was the smartest being on the planet and he didn't seem fatigued last time, so maybe it would be okay..

"Reload all of Nedzu's memories."
