Chapter Text

Sans wakes up because Papyrus yells from downstairs that he need to wake up. Hmmmm how long ago was it sins the last reset 20 no wait was it 30 years ago?

Mhe it doesn’t matter. In the last reset almost, everybody was murdered. Fortunately, Papyrus has survived that reset. Sans eye sockets turn completely black.

Unfortunately, that rot plant had spared her too. Undyne who stormed the throne at the end and drove Toriel back to The ruins. She had an even greater hatred against humans than Asgore. No idea why I mean the last human that fell in The underground then was about 5 years ago. She was the one that collected the sixth human soul. Perhaps it`s because after Asgore`s death all the human souls were gone.

In any case, after she was made the new leader of The underground she had spent a lot of g and materials, food etc. On new royal guards to replace the dead guards. Everything went wrong after that point. She paid no attention that many monsters had troubles for food because she used so much for the new guards. She also did not notice that many monsters had lost their hope. Also more and more monster were no longer going to their work because they thought: What does it even matter. We are never going to leave this place. We will die down here. When they converted places where food growing to form barracks and houses for the new royal guards, things really went wrong. Monsters started to fight each other for food. Papyrus has been very hungry lately and is now afraid of Undyne rage. After we had eaten and I had read Papyrus and made sure he was asleep I went back to my lab. There was the human soul that I stopped in the prototype of the souls tube`s sitting in the castle. My father W.D.Gaster had designed it, but I'm not going further about it. Because I'm still a sentry, I teleported to the castle.

When I showed Queen Undyne the human soul she was happy. Together we went to the improved soul tube`s. Undyne had decided to put extra security on the soul tube’s. Because all the human souls had disappeared. She wants to prevent that from happening a second time. I don’t remember much about what happened afterwards. Well do I remember that Undyne sat very pleased on her throne when that was done. I thought it was a good time to tell her that she had to leave me and my brother alone. Apparently I was wrong. Undyne became very angry and she told me that i was no longer welcome in the castle. Because I knew that talking would not really help I decided to walk out of the room as she had forbidden to teleport in the castle. But before I was out of the room Undyne threw a spear straight through the back of my skull and left eye socket. When the spear disappeared, I slowly got up. I felt my left eye socket and went to the back. There was a hole in my skull and my left eye is now red. Undyne was so surprised that she didn’t move. But I do get that because I only have 1HP. But I got up and did not die. She didn`t understand it. Then I looked Undyne again and said: Leave me and my brother alone and teleported home.

Now that I think about it, that child I killed and then ate from. Is that the reason that I am still alive? But I don’t care much about that. Everything I thought about then was. Hopefully she leaves us alone now and I can continue to arrange food for Papyrus. When I got home I felt death tired. I was too tired to go to my room. So I decided to sleep on the couch.

The next day I heard Pap shout: Oh my god Sans what happened to you? When I slowly got up, I saw Papyrus looking at me with a crying face. On which I answered: Normally I would like to make a joke here but.

...

I decided to tell Papyrus about it. When I told him what had happened Papyrus became silent. He then said that he was just glad I was still there while hugging me very carefully. When we ate Papyrus spaghetti with human flesh he said that the meat was great for the spaghetti. Then he asked me what kind of meat it was and then I said without thinking about it. That it was human meat. I immediately said haha funny joke right?

It was quiet for a but until my brother told me: I know it's not a joke because you told it on the couch. Then I thought Shit I told him everything. Even though I'm having some trouble with it but I will forgive you because things are no longer the same as before. I was so relieved then.

Years later when there was another human in Snowdin we ate him to. I mainly use my axe as a weapon and Papyrus has grown well. He has a problem with his teeth but we do not have enough g to do anything about it. Fortunately it does not hurt and his teeth are all angled and slightly broken. We have also tried in several ways to repair my skull. None of those the ways had effect.

However it has been found that I can only make my left eye socket black and I cannot make a normal eye anymore. It turns out that I can never again make a blue eye like before. But that does not matter much to me as long as I can still see with it.

Wait a second. Why did that weed suddenly reset? It has not done that in about 30 years. Fortunately it always resets to the same date. That's why I know everyone lives again and that Grillby`s is open again! I smiled. It's been so long sins I could order something there for the last time. I go straight there after I have greeted Papyrus and opened the door of my room.

After Sans left his room Gaster appeared very hazy. Gaster then said to himself. This is interesting his appearance has not been reset and disappeared again in the void. Sans wanted to walk off the stairs but stood still and thought, I miss my axe. Sans teleported to his lab and grabbed his old axe. Hey there old friend. It's been a while. Because I used you almost every day for 25 years in the previous reset. I really got attached to you. This is good material for some good axe jokes. Sans teleported on the couch with the axe in his hands. Papyrus are you in the kitchen?

Yes and i'm making some of my famous spaghetti.

Hey Papyrus I'm going to Grillby's but first you have to look at this.

Papyrus says to Sans: but I just made this delicious pan spaghetti. While Papyrus turns around Sans says: I know your spaghetti is sharp enough and points to the sharp side of the axe.

Papyrus drops the pan with spaghetti to the ground. I'm going to Grillby now. I will see you later and teleported while Papyrus shouted: Sans wait! When Sans entered Grillby`s he said: Grillby a bag of fries with a bottle of ketchup for me and a burger for my axe. Everyone in Grillby's was dead silent and looked at Sans. Some afraid and others sad or scared.

Grillby walked to Sans and placed a hand on his shoulder and asked how Sans felt. Sans looked at Grillby confused and said, I am doing as great as this axe. Is there something going on? Everyone is acting so strange and so quiet.

Before Grillby could answer. The door opened hard. In the doorway stands Papyrus. I had never seen him so scared. Papy is everything all right with you?

Papyrus shouted: Of course i'm not fine! Papyrus got tears in his eyes. Please Sans say this is a joke because it's not funny. You scared me so much. Sans throws the axe in the floor.

Okay what's everyone bothered with? Why is everyone acting so weird? Papyrus why are you so shocked? My axe joke is not that bad right? It`s dead silent in Grillby`s.

Sans do you really not know what this is about? Asks Papyrus.

Uhm no? Answer Sans.

Grillby says: Wait a minute and walks to the fire exit. A little later, Grillby returns with a round metal tray. Sans look at your reflection. Says Grillby.

Sans grabs the tray and looks at his reflection. A few minutes pass by in which Sans does not move or says anything. Only when Papyrus asks: Brother is everything alright with you?

Only then said Sans something. This is not possible and moves his hand to his eye socket and then to the back of his head. The reflection does the same and moves his hand to his red eye and the back of the skull. Sans think: this can’t be possible. Why in the world does my skull and eye still look like that? A reset should reset everything from memory`s to the dead. So why is there still a HOLE in my skull! How do I explain this to Papyrus? While Sans thought about that he begins to trembled.

Brother did you really not now about this? Asks my brother Papyrus. I look at him and say: How is this possible? This should not be happening. What is going on? I need answers! Sans was terrified. In his mind he thought: What if this happens with my brother’s death. Is this forever? Oh god no. Please don`t. I do not want to lose my brother forever. I cannot handle that. The only reason I could handle a world without my brother was because the reset. I knew he would always come back but if that does not happen. Sans stood up and ran to his brother. Then he held Papy tightly and began to cry.

Papyrus embraced his crying brother. Papyrus looked at Grillby. What should I do now? Said Papyrus against Grillby.

First give him this. Grillby gave Papyrus a bottle of ketchup. This has to repair his HP and hopefully this is then over, Grillby said.

Sans calms down and takes some ketchup. I the great Papyrus will make sure everything will be okay so take some ketchup. Okay Papy answers Sans and drink the bottle empty.

While Sans drank the ketchup Grillby decided to check Sans status.
Sans LV?? HP ???/??? AT???/??? DF???/??? EXP???? NEXT????.
Grillby anxiously took a few steps backwards. Papyrus bring Sans as fast as you can to a doctor. There is something very wrong with his status. I will send all my customers away and follow you as fast as I can.

What! Is Sans life in danger! Grillby please be honest. I have no idea Papyrus. I have never experienced this before. There is even a change that Sans will not make it tonight. Meanwhile Alphys and Undyne were watching anime in her lab. Suddenly Alphys phone rang. He, hello with Doctor Alphys with who am I speaking? Meanwhile Undyne had put the anime on pause.

You are speaking with Grillby. I want you to get ready immediately to investigate Sans. His life may be in danger.

Doctor Alphys then shouted: What! Sans life is in danger? Undyne who was just drinking tea then spit out her tea and said: What! Alphys set the speaker on. Okay, Grillby, I put you on speaker and tell me calmly what's going on with Sans.

Grillby talked about how Sans looked like when he entered. He also told how Sans responded to what Papyrus said. So if I got this right Grillby. Sans has a hole in his skull on the left and the eye on that side is also red. Then he got shocked by his reflection and his status is unreadable and you gave him some ketchup that should have repaired his HP. But he still looks the same.

Alphys what can I do to help? Asks Undyne.

Uhm I ehm am going to prepare the lab. Can you get the following things from my room and just leaf them just outside the elevator? I need a clean lab coat. A soft pillow for Sans head. Oh and some spaghetti to calm down Papyrus.

Well, that place was meant for new diseases and experiments. But because there were no serious illnesses or problems, I almost do nothing there.

Okay said Undyne. We have to hurry. They will be here soon.

I know said Alphys. After Undyne went up again she marked the hallway to the amalgametes with a danger ribbon. She thought: This should make sure nobody goes there while I'm researching Sans.

Then Alphys started cleaning a table when Undyne came back and began to finish placing the tools.

Undyne had the task of waiting for Sans and Papyrus and make a letter with directions for Grillby who comes later.

Suddenly the door opened. Papyrus came in with a scared face and Sans still sleeping in his arms. Papyrus walks to Undyne and asks where Doctor Alphys is.

Undyne leads the way to the elevator. When the elevator is down and open, they immediately went to doctor Alphys.

Papyrus I've heard everything about what happened at Grillby's. Alphys began to ask Papyrus. Did Sans act strange yesterday? Have you heard or seen anything tonight? How did Sans behave in the morning?

Upon which Papyrus answered. I have not seen or heard anything strange. The only special thing was that I only had to call once to wake him up. That almost never happens.

Undyne take Papyrus with you and give him some spaghetti. Alphys gives Undyne a plate of spaghetti.

Papyrus and Undyne walk away with the spaghetti. I see you soon Brother says Papyrus. When they sat by the elevator and Papyrus just started eating the spaghetti the elevator came down.

Grilby stepped out and asked how Sans was. Undyne said that Alphys is still doing research on him.

Meanwhile, Alphys looked at Sans skull. Hmm It seems like something sharp went through the back of his skull. Alphys grabbed a white handkerchief and wiped around the hole. Rare there is no dust she says as she looks at the handkerchief. Is the dust perhaps deeper in his skull? Alphys takes a flashlight and shines in Sans skull.

There is no dust there either. I search his room later. Perhaps I find pieces of his skull. Then I can try to fix it.

Sans yawned and looked around.

Oh are you awake Sans.

Hu, Alphys why am i here and more important where is papyrus?

Sans do you remember what happened this morning? Sans moves his hand to the hole in his skull. After that Sans is quiet for a few seconds and then says: Unfortunately it was thus not a dream. How is Papy?

Papyrus had just eaten his plate with spaghetti when Undyne phone went. Before she could even say something all three heard, Go up as quickly as possible through the phone.

Undyne did not hesitate a second and picked up Papyrus and said: okay, everyone upstairs. When they were all three in the elevator and the door was almost closed. A bone with blood on it flew towards Undyne`s direction. Undyne bowed to avoid the bone. A slightly distorted version of Megalovania played in the distance and was coming closer pretty fast. The elevator went up after the doors were closed. Everybody in the elevator looked at the bone that was stuck in the elevator wall.

This can’t be good. Undyne did you do something to Sans? Asked Grillby.

I did not hurt him! I came here directly when my morning round ended. Says Undyne angry. Because Sans was still sleeping when you left him, he might have had a nightmare and maybe I was the reason for that nightmare. Says Undyne while interrupting Grillby.

Papyrus looks worried at the bone in the wall. Then he says: something is wrong with my brother's magic. The bone is partly red. The elevator is upstairs and everyone gets out of the elevator. Suddenly Sans teleported in front of them.

He looks angry and his eye has a blue aura flame. But it turned red after a few seconds. Then Sans says: I had told you clearly that you had to leave us alone.

Chapter Text

It is dead silent in the lab. Suddenly the outside door opens. Oh hello there darlings. I didn’t not know that so many fans would visit me today. Says Mettaton. Mettaton rolls closer.

Sans summend a Gaster Blaster and shoot at Metttaton.

What in the. Before Mettaton was able to finish his sentence, the Gaster Blaster hit his metal body.

Papyrus screams Mettaton! While Mettaton flies towards the wall. BOEM! Grillby falls from shock on his behind. Mettaton comes to a halt in the wall. Uuugh says Mettaton before he becomes unconscious.

Sans suddenly falls over. Sans is everything okay with you! Shouts Papyrus while he is running towards Sans.

Papyrus stay away from him! Shouts Undyne and runs after Papyrus with a spear in her hands.

Sans lays on his belly and tilts his head up. He sees Papyrus running scared towards him and Undyne running behind him with a spear. Sans stand up slowly and with some effort. The red aura flame becomes more redder and bigger. Sans graps Papyrus souls with blue magic and throws him close to the wall where Mettaton in is.

Auw says Papyrus when he lands and loses 5 HP.

Then Sans makes two walls made from blood-coated bones. The first wall he makes is behind him and Papyrus. The second he makes is between Undyne and Grillby.

What's is going on with you Sans! Shouts Undyne.

Are you now done with the axeing of stupid questions? Asks Sans. Should I tell you where you are right now? You've landed on my CHOPPING board.

In the meantime, Alphys has come up with the elevator and looks at what happened. She sees Mettaton in the wall and Papyrus near him on the other side of the lab.

You have chosen the wrong fight. Do you think you can win a battle against an undead undead? Says Sans.

Grillby gets up and goes to Alphys and asks: What does Sans mean with an undead undead?

I I really do not know what he means. I thought he did not know anything about his situation. But now I am beginning to doubt that. I m mean he already gave his condition a name. Stutters Alphys.

Sans summand 3 Gaster Blasters that looks different from the previous Blaster. These have sharp blood-coated teeth in their mouths and have a hole in their left side and a glowing red eye like Sans. I'm going to make sure that this rotten fish never again hurts my last family member. Says Sans while the Blasters shoot at Undyne with a red beam.

Undyne evades the rays and sees that Alphys is upstairs. Alphys what's going on here and what can I do to stop him before I've to hurt him! Shouts Undyne.

Before Alphys can say anything, Papyrus shouts: I may have no idea what's going on here, but there is one thing I that I do know. We are talking about my brother Sans. As his brother I know the best where Sans the best in is. He is the laziest monster I know. He sleeps so often that I have no idea how he does it. In other words, try to avoid everything then he will probably falls asleep at some point.

Good idea. Says Undyne while she takes a few steps forward. Suddenly min 1 HP, min 1 HP, min 1 HP. Undyne looks down. At the places where the Gaster Blasters hit is now a red spot that slowly decreases. Undyne jumps out quickly and her HP continues to go down with another 3 before it stops.

Sans says: Too bad for me that you learnt so fast how it works. I think I'm going to call it Hate Retribution Circle. Sans summoned dozens of blood-coated bones at once and throws them at Undyne and occasionally shoots with a Gaster Blaster.

After 15 minutes Undyne has lost a quarter of her HP. The reason that Undyne has lost so much HP is that while avoiding and breaking of the bones they also had to pay attention to the Hate Retribution Circles.

Grillby and Alphys are not trying to break the bones wall between them and Undyne.

The reason for that is Papyrus. When Undyne became injured by one of the bones that Sans throws at her. Papyrus tried to break the wall to help her. But Sans responded by grabbing Papyrus soul with magic and pushed him the ground and then put blue bones through him.

Sans grabs Undyne Soul with magic and throws her across all sides of the lab. After that Sans shoots with several Gaster Blasters. All places Undyne is now thrown against are red.

Ughh says Sans as he drops with one knee to the ground and throws Undyne close to Alphys.

Undyne has suffered a lot of damage from Sans's special attack. Here Undyne eat this. Says Alphys as she takes a pack of instant noodles from her lab coat and throws it over the bone wall.

Thanks Alphys. Says Undyne and throws the noodles raw in her mouth. Gulp that's better says Undyne.

S Stay out of, don’t come near him. Says Sans and then falls forward and starts snoring. All the bones that were left disappeared and Sans left eye lost the aura. The whole battle lasted almost half an hour.

Papyrus walks to Sans and picks him up gently. Alphys what just happened? Asks Papyrus as he walks towards her.

Yes, I want to know that to. Says Undyne.

Is Sans now a danger to the people around him. Should he be locked up now? Asks Grillby.

Papyrus, can you bring Sans back to the table. Stay with him and say nothing about Undyne. Tells Alphys. When I told Sansthat Undyne was with you he became very angry. When Alphys came to the skeletons brothers she saw that Sans was still sleeping. Alphys rolled a machine towards Sans. She wiped some dust off.

What kind of machine is that asks Papyrus.

This is a machine that lets you see the HP bar of a monster. This is from when the technique of seeing one's status was not known very well. Tells Alphys.

But everyone in The Underground knows how to do that. Said Papyrus.

That's right but before we got locked up here that was not the case. Then there were only 1 in 100 monsters who knew how to do that. Before the method was discovered and shared, this machine was built. Fortunately there was still one here. Even though we cannot measure the amount of HP. At least we will know if his HP is going down. Tells Alphys. Alphys pulls a lever and a bar appears above Sans.

Sans sees how the shadow kills his brother in one attack while Papyrus wants to give that thing a hug. Sans falls through a black hole that suddenly opens under him. After he falls to the ground and looks around, Sans finds himself in the Judgment Hall. Then he sees the same shadow person walking towards him. Sans eye sockets become black. He grabs his axe firmly and tries to look into the shadow eye`s. He only sees black. No eyes or mouth. Sans cannot even see if that thing has a nose. The thing comes closer. Why did you kill the only thing in my life that gives me a reason to live? If you take one more step forward, I will give you a time that you will certainly hate. Sans says angry.

The shadow takes one step forward. Sans calls 7 Gaster Blasters and shoots at the shadow. The shadow gets destroyed. Sans goes back to a pillar and falls down. He begins to cry. Then he suddenly hears footsteps again. He looks at the direction of the footsteps. Then Sans sees that the same shadow person slowly walks towards him. How is this possible? Thought Sans. Was once not enough for you? Asks Sans while the shadow stands still. The shadow begins to walk again. Sans teleported behind the shadow after it had taken three steps. Sans ax goes through the neck of the shadow person and then the shadow disappears again. What's going on here? A little later he hears the same footsteps coming closer again. Does this never end? Says Sans angry and shoot with 5 Gaster Blasters in the direction of the footsteps. Suddenly the shadow person runs closer and attacks Sans with a knife.

Chapter Text

Sans avoids the attack by teleporting to the left. Sans sends bones to the shadow. The shadow evades the bones. Sans tries to grab the soul of the shadow but nothing happens. Impossible how can that happen? Is this thing soulless? What is this thing? Sans says while avoiding a second attack. Sans shoots with three Gaster Blasters at the shadow.

The shadow cannot evade everything, and it lose one of its arms. Then the shadow holds something that looks like a dark piece of pie. A little bit later the dark piece of cake disappears. The shadow is surrounded by a dark smoke. After the smoke is gone, Sans sees that the shadow has its arm back.

That is enough! I have no idea what's going on, but I know how to end this. Shouts Sans while teleporting. Sans looks in the direction of the shadow and the place where he heard the footsteps. Sans calls up 35 Gaster Blasters and shoots in that direction. Then he suddenly feels that he is picket up. Sans looks back and sees that his brother is picking him up. Papyrus is that really you? Asks Sans with tears in his eyes.

Then Papyrus shouts straight to the place where normally an ear is. Sans please wake up! Sans shakes his head back and forth while still being held by Papyrus. Sans looks around. He sees that he is at home and that there is a big gaping hole in the wall.

Uhm says Sans while a piece falls down. Did I do this? Asks Sans while Papyrus puts him down. Is anyone injured?

Papyrus opens his mouth to say something but stops because Sans suddenly screams: Wait where is that shadow person! I'll stop it before it kills you a second time! Shouts Sans as he looks around.

Then he is suddenly hugged by Papyrus. Relaxs Sans. It was just a bad dream. Papyrus puts Sans down and walks to the machine. Everything is still good with your HP. Says Papyrus relieved.

Because breaking down a wall with a Gaster Blaster made a lot of noise, some of Snowdin's residents came to watch. Grillby and Politics Bear offer to cover the hole in the wall with planks.

Papyrus explains what has happened and the current situation with Sans. While Sans helps those two, Papyrus puts the two pans with spaghetti outside on a table. He shares it with the residents of Snowdin.

Everyone is happy because they get free spaghetti. But they are still worried about Sans and sometimes look in his direction. After temporary repairs to the wall was done and everyone had eaten, everyone went away after some catching up.

Papyrus walks back to Snowdin. He stops in front of Grillby`s. He looks from a distance at Sans. He is making a fence next to the house for the vegetable garden. Papyrus thinks about the last time he saw Sans so active.

That was after he had demolished the door of his room. He did that during a nightmare. I could just prevent him from shooting with a Gaster Blaster. After that he stayed verry close to me. He even tried to stay with me during training. That was one of the few times I saw him running.

Papyrus goes in as he thinks about that weird time. He gives the letter to the royal guards. He did not tell anything about the Pie Lady. (Toriel) She had asked to say nothing about her.

Papyrus wants to walk outside but is stopped by Grillby. What is Sans doing? He did not even come in for breakfast. Does he eat well? Asks Grillby anxious. It was now around noon and Sans would have normally been here at least once. Explains Grillby.

He did have breakfast. In fact, he made the breakfast himself and for the both of us. For some reason, he is afraid that we will run out of food. When I told him at breakfast how filled our fridge is now compared to other times, he was shocked. He thinks that we should pay closer attention to keep the fridge full. Tell Papyrus worried. Meanwhile in The Ruins. Flowey is bored. Ughh. What should I do? I wish that something new happens here below. Says Flowey and suddenly looks behind him. He hears footsteps coming closer. Flowey hides behind a piece of debris.

Toriel walks to the place where Chara is buried. She stands there for a few minutes without saying anything and with some tears in her eyes.

This is strange thinks Flowey. She usually does not do this around this time. I'm curious what she's going to tell Chara. It has become a habit of telling stories and news at the grave towards us. First she will stand there in silent and cries and afterwards she tells something and then goes home again. If I could still feel I would probably be happy about this.
