fried circuits

Summary:

writing a fic for my guilty pleasure ship because only 3 people would and I must feed my people, or at least try (I'm not very experienced) but you know what you already failed if you don't do it. (the first chapter is a slow starter :()

Chapter 1: electrified boredom

“You’re overthinking this too much, just put “welcome” near the front entrance so the newcomers can see,” Vee said sounding annoyed by the fact that they spent an hour meticulously planning out the decorations despite not being that deep



“NO! This has to be perfect! When my brother Sprout comes I want him to be amazed” Vee rolls her digital eyes at Dandy's enthusiasm, when new toons come dandy always makes a big deal out of it whether it’s his brother or not.



“Whatever, probably just gonna be some stupid toons anyway” Despite Vee's protests dandy always forces her and the rest of the mains to come to the event. As Vee walks back to her room to alleviate herself from the dandy-sized tumor she comes across a poster containing all the new toons coming next week. Sprout, cosmo, glisten, Gigi, and Finn. All of them look like a headache, especially Finn, he even carries water in him making him a health hazard for Vee, all the more reason to sit this one out.



As Vee enters her room to charge herself she cant help but feels tired, not just from spending all day preparing for the event but also from how repetitive this all seems, no matter how many toons are added it all feels empty. nothing to spice things up, no divergent of the formula no hobby, just work and ichor runs 

 

Its just so…. boring

Chapter 2: short circuit

Summary:

as Vee "enjoys" the event something erupts behind her

A knock on the door wakes her up earlier than she wanted to, while she can live off of 509%  it would be very unwise to do so, sadly she doesn't have a choice.



“Vee? Vee? You up?”



God… it's shelly, why is she always the one who knocks on my door, doesn't she have anything better to do



“I’m up, I'm up! Hold on I'm coming!” I begrudgingly open the door to be met with a bug-eyed shelly as usual



“Hey vee you ready for the event”



“No”



“Oh….well the new toons are here! Let's give them a warm welcome!”



“Yeah  sure, just keep your voice down”



As Vee enters the main room with Shelly she sees the new toons



“Sorry, I was supposed to wake you up sooner  but you looked so peaceful



“Wait what?”



“Nothing haha… let’s go meet the new main” As soon as she said that she sprinted to Dandy and the other mains. Well, I might as well meet them before Dandy forces me to.




Vee: “Hey weed”



Dandy: “Zip it, sprout meet vee my…. Coworker (yeah let's go with that) this is my coworker Vee” Vee has to admit he is very good at hiding his disdain for her.




“Why, hello there.” Sprout extends his hands for a handshake, which I don't even think of reciprocating. If Sprout is anything like his brother, I don't want his grubby hands anywhere near me.




Vee: “Oh.. It's not a pleasure meeting you” After saying that Sprout's smile faltered a bit before returning to his usual cheery expression



Sprout: I feel like we're gonna be just fine.” Sprout despite his optimism I can sense his disappointment but it's not like I care, He is just another bug I need to patch out.

Finn: Shell shell shell what do we have here, an archeologist i sea?



Shelly: “Oh uh me? Um yeah” As Finn breaks Shelly out of her daydreaming. a part of her is dazed and another part of her is confused by his choice of words. Finn noticing her confusion lets out an awkward chuckle hoping it would revile the tension



Finn: “Sorry it was a pun” 



Shelly: “Ooh ok sorry about that”



Finn” Don't worry about it, so how y-




“HEY!!” Finn and Shelly jump at the startling shout and the accompanying bumping sounds growing closer to them, as they face the sound they see Shrimpo stomping over towards them.



Shelly: “Uh oh”



Shrimp: “HEY YOU”



Finn: “Uh me?”



Shrimpo: “YEAH YOU ASSHOLE!”



Finn: “Woah dude what's with the crabby attitude?”



Shrimpo: “YOU! YOU AND YOUR STUPID ASS JOKES!!!”



Finn: “Pardon?”



Shrimpo: “YEAH YOU HEARD ME, HOW ABOUT YOU SEW YOUR LIPS TOGETHER YOU WOULD BECOME 100% MORE LIKABLE



Glisten: “PREECH BROTHER.” Glisten said in the distance”



Finn: “Well I'm sorry not everyone has  good taste” Finn's cool demeanor gets shrimpo more pissed by the second so mad to the point he grabs Finn’s life vest and attempts to pull him up but due to Finn being a glass statue filled with water that was almost an impossible feat, which got him even angrier that before



Shrimpo: DO YOU THINK YOUR BETTER THAN ME!



Finn: “I don’t even know who you are, although everyone is entitled to their own opinion whether it’s as salty as the salty seas or not, so if you think that I'm better than you then there's nothing I can do.”




Shrimpo: “I HATE YOU!!!!”



Finn: “Sorry, I can't kelp with that,” Finn says with his iconic smile which unbeknownst to him is the straw that broke the camel's back.

Vee: “Are we done hear? I'm on 45 percent and I would love to forget this ever happened and fall back to sleep please”



Dandy: “Uh Vee” Sprout and Dandy back up with a scared expression on their face”



Vee: “What?” now that I notice it they seem to be pointing behind me, what could be so scra-



Vee: “HOLY SHI-” Despite the warning, Vee couldn't escape the tidal wave that crashed onto her causing her to short-circuit and die out in a painful death.

Chapter 3: fishy aqua-intance

As Vee looked at the fish bowl toon she was filled with confusion, to say the least, who is this guy sitting on my chair and sleeping too? How long has he been in here?

As the glass toon sleeps Vee hears his calming snores. It strangely sounds like an empty beach only accompanied by the sounds of its shores. Vee can't help but lean in, admiring how peaceful he looks.

Sadly as Vee leaned closer to him he stirred awake, probably due to Vee’s screen producing light. They sit there staring at each other for an agonizingly long minute until the glass bowl toon finally breaks the silence

Finn: So, how does it feel to be your own night light?

Vee: ¨…. it's nice I guess¨

Finn: ¨u guess? Being able to glow in the dark is so useful! Have I ever told you the time my buddy Keith tried to dig a hole to get to china China? We were five wh-

Vee: wait wait wait! Why are you even in my room?

Finn: oh yeah right. I thought I killed you.

Vee:...

Finn: I saw you drop dead and I got scared, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I krilled you as soon as I got here

Vee: dude… I’m a robot, I'll be fine.

Finn: I know… I just got worried.

Vee:... i understand.

 

The fact I would like to say I'm annoyed by the idiot and how he won't just leave well that too, but I feel something else, something tells I don't want that, know that I mentioned it I've never really had any toon in my room before. How many hours, days, and weeks have I spent cooped up in my room, only coming out for runs, or for hosting my gameshow?

Finn: I uh I’ve got to go, Barnaby's getting pretty hungry.

Vee: WAIT! You can stay!

Finn:.....shore

Vee: ¨uh sorry about that.¨ Damn it that was so stupid, he probably thinks I'm weird!

Finn: don't worry about that, I can stay as long as you want me to.

Vee:¨...thanks, I appreciate that.¨ I didn't think things through, we’re just… staring at each other but I don't mind actually mind that, his blue eyes sparkle in the light in a way that draws me in, almost like a siren

Finn: ¨Hey did you know that puff-¨ before Finn could get the fact out which Vee was hoping for Shelly ‘Calmy’ bursts through the door.

Shelly: Vee! The next run is in 10 minutes, You're joining, right?

Vee: uh yeah of course

Shelly; sorry about Finn, I tried to tell him not to bother you but he didn't really listen to me

Vee: don't worry, he's fine actually.

Shelly: ¨really?¨ despite her surgery tone, she can't hide her spite for Vee's new fishy friend.

I really need to stop using 1st person writing, it's kinda hard to describe things I do in 1st person, that's probably why fanfics are so long, they use imagery a lot, I have to learn how to do that.

As Glisten, Vee Shrimpo, Sprout, Cosmo, Shelly, and Flutter enter the elevator Vee couldn't help but notice something off.

Vee: guys aren't we forgetting something?

Shelly: nuh uh

Glisten: ¨nope absolutely no one we should just go¨ why is everyone so dismissive? While I don't expect it from Glisten because I don’t know her but from Shelly? Now this is getting weird. As Glisten when to push the elevator button down, I had to physically stop her from pushing the elevator button down

Vee: GUYS HOLD ON A SECOND! We have 7 toons in the elevator, we should at least wait 3 minut-

Finn: ¨WAIT!!!!¨ As everyone snapped their heads they Finn hauling ass (excuse my French) to the elevator

Glisten: ¨OH NONONONONO, GOD NO, PLEASE NO¨ Glisten shoves Vee out of the way and spams the down button trying to close the elevator door, as the elevator door almost closes Finn has to slide as low as possible before the elevator door closes on him, but thankfully he is successful.

Finn: whew, that is o-fish-ially the scariest thing I have ever done.

Vee lets out the metaphorical breath she was holding in before turning to Glisten

Vee: Glisten wtf you could have killed some toon

Finn: yeah Glisten what the shell?!

Glisten: I should have, now he's just gonna be annoying us the entire run.

Vee: he's not so annoying to the point you have to kill him!

Glisten: of course you think that! You're just a robot!

ugh, I hate that sentence ¨just a robot¨. It rings in my head like a bullet entering your body and bouncing off the walls of your rib cage. Do they think I can't have emotions just because I'm a robot, they make me feel lesser than them

 

Finn: ¨hey Vee¨ Vee snaps out of the angry rant that held her up until everyone left the elevator

 

Finn: sorry if I startled you, you sea-med a bit spaced out, are you doing ok?

Vee yeah yeah, I'm doing fine.

Finn: if you're feeling worried you can walk with me

Vee: no I'm fine

Finn: ¨please?¨… god damn I can't say no to him, those blue diamond eyes and that dumb pearly white.

Vee: …fine, but keep at least 3 feet away from me ok

Finn alright I understand, don't want the star of the show getting soft locked do we?

Vee: HA I get it.

?????: ¨SHE NOT THE STAR OF THE SHOW! I AM!!!¨ Finn and Vee look at the hole in the elevator where the voice came from.

Finn: … who was that?

Vee: let's just go.

Notes:

now that I finished ¨cooking¨ I need to go to sleep like now lol, I'm doing a small concert in my orchestra beginners class wish me luck my dandys world brothers and sister

 

secret fun fact: put salted butter on any type of sandwich (ex: normal sandwich, cheese sandwich, peanut butter, and jelly) and fry it on the stove

Chapter 5: school run

Finn: so… what do we do know?

Vee: what do you mean? Didn't you go to Dandy for the tutorial like every other new toons?

Finn: no actually, i skipped it.

Vee: skipped it, For what? Sleeping with the fishes?

Finn: HAH no, well that to but mostly no. i was worrying about you

Vee:...

Finn: remember when Shrimpo pushed me, and I accidentally spilled water on you?

Vee: ¨oh yeah right, sorry.¨ thinking back on it know it almost felt like a weird dream, but a welcomed one nonetheless

Finn: so uh about those machines I’ve heard all a-boat

Vee: yeah yeah right, finn welcome to the ichor operation, where our objective is to extract ichor from machines

Finn: cool

Vee: ¨and you do it by making the valve, observe.¨ Vee puts her hands on the valve and starts turning it, causing ichor to trickle a large amount of black sludge down the pipe

Vee: ¨just keep turning until you get it completely full, now you try¨ Vee lets go of the valve for Finn to use, while the way he moves the valve is awkward at first he gets more used to it.

Finn: its just that sea-mple huh?

Vee:.....¨huh?¨ what did he say? Why did it sound so weird, now that I’ve mentioned it he sometimes says words wrongly like ¨shell¨ instead hell, or ¨o-fish-ialy¨ instead officially.

As Finn turned his head around to look at Vee he could see the visible confusion understanding that he had to clarify he just had to clarify. ¨you know, sea-mple kinda sounds like simple.¨ while explaining a joke yourself makes it 100% less funny he’ll make an exception for her.

Vee: ¨oh wow very funny¨ Vee says as she plays a laugh track while clapping with it

Finn: ¨ha! thank you, thank yo-¨ BEEP! Before Finn could finish the machine suddenly beeps startling them both.

Finn: ah crab the second I take my attention off it this happens, hold on a sec I gotta ‘eel’ with this real quick.

Vee frantically searches through the security cameras to see if any twisteds are coming toward them, sadly they aren't as lucky as they hoped.

Vee: FINN DROP IT WE GOTTA GO!

Finn: hold on I gotta at least finish.

Damnit it he doesn't know about twisteds, I probably should have told him about that, I can't just leave him here he's gonna get mauled, fuck here goes nothing!

Vee grabs Finn and forces him into a dark room so fast infact she almost sweps him off his feet.

Finn: WOAH! WATER ARE YOU D-!

Vee: ¨shut it fish for brains!¨ Vee instinctively covers his mouth with both hands from behind just in time before twisted toodles on all fours rushed to the machine, after checking no one was there it scurried back to whence it came.

 

That was way too close for comforts, thats the last time im worry about you again… finn? Vee looks down to see Finn gently stroking her hand with such care care she could help put hum. Finn looks back to see Vee staring at him.

Finn: ¨sorry about that i was just uh.¨ embarresed Finn tried to withdraw from Vee’s ever forming embrace but she could bring herself to let him go.

Vee: stay

Finn: what?

Vee: stay

Finn…..ok.

Vee: can you that again?

Finn paused for a second, he expected ridicule or a slap, anything but her asking for more. But he isnt against doing it again. ¨Sure¨ Finn softly takes Vee’s hands to do slow strokes on her hand with his thumb

Vee: ¨i’ve never been touch like this before, ,being touched so delicately honestly feels weird but i love it. I wish we could stay like this forever, but we have to go. The last third machine has been done and if we dont get to the elevator we will be left here

Finn: i understand… do you wanna hold my hand as we walk?

Vee: please do.

 

As Vee and Finn makes to the elevator shelly walks up to them just as they let go of eachothers hand.

Shelly: hey vee were have you been? I was looking everywhere for you

Vee: i uh-

Finn: was just showing me a tutorial video on how uh do stuff, so we went to a hidden room so nothing could jump at us

Shelly: oh ok.

As the elevator opened everyone scrambled in Vee and Finn hoped that no one saw them holding hands and that Shelly would hopefully not bring this up and let this moment slip away from her memories

But unfortunately for Finn she would never let this go

While the crew was waiting for the elevator to reach the lobby Vee was quietly freaking out from the fact that someone had seen them holding hands, not just any toon but another main!! She was sure she was gonna get reported! The news could spread like wildfire for all she knew!

Finn: ¨hey Vee you doing ok?¨ despite Vee’s panicked monologue she could hear Finn's silky smooth tone silently grabbing her attention.

Vee: ¨im perfectly fine¨ while finn is inclined to believe Vee, her tone, body language, and well everything is telling him otherwise

Finn: ¨no your not, your clearly worried ‘a-boat’ something. Look i know its hard to talk about your feelings but it pains me to see you like this ¨

Vee… ¨fine¨

Finn: ¨thank you, not te- WOAH!¨ Vee grabs Finns and dashes out of the elevator could with her robotic body, not stopping until they reach a secluded part of the lobby

Vee: Finn I'm scared.

Finn: scared of what?

Vee: of what they think! What if people think we're dating? You know how crazy people get about relationships?

Finn: it can be that bad right?

Vee:..... my sweet summer child you have no idea of the hell hole that lies beneath.

Finn:……oh

Vee: just stay close to me ok, but not too close, so people won’t get any ideas.

Shelly: hi guys

Vee, Finn: AAAA!

Shelly: sorry I forgot to stop doing that.

Vee: how much did you hear just now

Shelly: I just got here don't worry. Anyway I need Finn for a moment

Vee: ¨WHY!?¨ Vee pulls Finn behind herself

Shelly: woah there! No need to be distrustful of your best friend. besides I don't need him dandy does, he's going to show him the new aquarium they just added!

Finn: aquarium! Wowee i wish they told me about this sooner!¨ delighted by the news Finn rushes to shelly side uknowingly leaving Vee colder then she would like.

Vee: wait a second why wasnt i told about this?

Shelly: cus uh, dandy only disclosed (ooh look at me using big words) it to me Sprout and astro. You know how much he hates you

Vee: ¨well cant really argue with that¨ he can be spiteful sometimes, although that side of him never shown when it came to business, manly because he usually needs my help and even he’s smart enough to not bite the hand that feeds him. Now that i think about it how did he even get this done without my help.

 

Vee: hey shelly how did the aq-

Shelly: sorry we need to go now! Shelly disappears behind the corner with Finn. leaving Vee confused.

As Vee walked back to her room, she was saddened that her night ended sooner than expected. She atleast wanted to say goodnight to him but atlast it seems my universe has it out for me. She looks at her hands reminiscing on the way he held her hand and how gentle he was, almost as if her hand was glass, and he was terrified of breaking her. Vee's mind wanders back to the moment, remembering the warmth of Finn's glassy skin against hers and the way their fingers seemed to fit together perfectly. The memory brings a soft smile to her lips and a flutter in her chest, making her heart race as she recalls the electricity that seemed to crackle between them. She closes her eyes for a moment, trying to hold onto the feeling and commit it to memory, as she knows it might be a while before she gets to experience something like that again.

Vee: Sigh dandy you never cease to ignite the hatred i have for you.

Almost as if to tease her Dandy giggles from inside his room, probably lollygagging with his decimal witted brother…. Wait a minute.

Vee barges through the door interrupting their ssb64 game (gott keep the fic timeline accurate)

Dandy: what the hell vee?

Vee: weres Finn?!?

Dandy: idk! Now that i mention it i’ve barely seen that cuphead sense the knew toons was invited.

Vee’s eyes sparked with concern, if he wasnt here then were was he?! Shelly and Finn wouldnt lie to her right, especially not finn god anyone but Finn. Vee zoomed out of the room with heavy feet leaving the confused duo back to their devices

Chapter 7: intermission episode: glimmer

Summary:

I can't update this as much because I'm working on a pretty synopsis of another fic evolving a certain fishy foe… (btw synopsises are very handy when you have a fic idea but not an actual full story)
But instead of just simply telling you I’m not editing this anymore instead ill give you all a parting gift by introducing intermission episodes! These are pretty these are few and far between (idk if i said that right) but these hopefully should quench any thirst some of ya'll have

Please note that these chapter isn't cannon or not cannon to the fic so you can interoperate as u please

Chapter Text

Vee lays in her room sprawled on her bed 2 hours before midnight. at this time she's usually preparing for the next show, recharging or interacting with the other mains (god forbid) but instead, she takes a few moments to just lay in silence and fully release the anger she had built up during the game show because of a certain (sh*&y Fu#^$ng) papercraft. That FU-

 

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

A sound from the door interrupts her from her inner mad rambling. Who could be up at 10 o'clock at night? Shelly? Other mains? Dandy? (if the gods hate me) well whoever it is I'm sure they could wait till tomorrow, can't they see that even a mechanical marvel like me needs their beauty slee-

“Hey vee ya in there?”

Oh, its… Finn. That's odd, he usually goes to sleep at 8. Not that I care about when he go to sleep. Still, l I don't feel like letting him in though…..sigh

“Come in..”

As soon as she said those words Finn burst through the door with a mood so cheery it lit up her
Room, sadly vee’s mood isn't that easily changeable

“Vee ya wouldn't believe what I caught!” his voice bursting from the seams with excitement.

“What possibly could possibly be so interesting that you just have to barge in here like a wild animal!?” Vee’s harsh tones silence Finn as expected, but instead of it discouraging him it drew him closer.

“Vee”

“What?”

“Vee~”

“WHAT!?”

“Vee what’s wrong?”

“NOTHING IS WRONG GO AWAY!!!”

“Oh no no no you can't fool me that easily” Finn suddenly picks her up in a captive but comfortable bridal-carrying position and sits on the bed forever trapping her in his stronghold

“We are gonna stay here forever until you tell me got it?”

“NO!” Vee’s attempts to squirm from Finn's grasp are in vain as he continues to hold onto her body with surprising strength, especially since she is taller than him.

“Why do you even care anyway? Don't you have some fish to terrorize?”

“No actually, cus You are my lovely treasure chest that I'll treasure forever… NOW TELL ME!”

“I don't want to! It's small and kinda embarrassing to say out loud” it really was, getting upset at someone getting your question right is stupid, even Vee herself can realize that

“Don't worry about it, you know ill never judge you right?”

“... fine, its about scraps, she has to be cheating or something because she ALWAYS get my answers right like how does she know anything about the french revolution!?!”

“Ah i sea” Finn pulls her closer to chest while rubbing her back and arm in a soothing motion Vee haven't felt in a long time. Something about it made her forget all about scraps

“Scraps can be a bit of a handful, there was this one time she sneaked into my room and ate the fish in my aquarium, got me SO MAD!!”

“yep sounds like scraps alright”

“Their agreement left them in silence before Finn remembers something that would (hopefully cheer Vee up.

“Hey Vee”

“What?”

“Wanna see what i caught today?”

Vee sits up to fully look at Finn “if its another toy fish ill kill you”

“No no it isn't i promise its something special! Just uh wait a sec”

Vee sits there unimpressed as Finn taps on his fishbowl trying to attract the fish out of his chest.

“sorry she’s a bit shy he he, I'm gonna have to fish her out” Finn reaches down to his life vest to unbuckle it before Vee realizes what he’s doing and stops him

“Wait! You cant do that” Vee says with a surprised flushed expression

“What why not?”

“This isn't a nude beach you can't just take your shirt off in public!”

“But we're not in public” Finn cups Vee's cheeks “It's just u and me”

“...Yeah, your right”

“... can i open my vest?”

“....” after deciding Vee nods signaling Finn to unbuckle his life vest. His movements were slow and tame as he unbuckled the vest one by one. When he finished with the last buckle he slowly opened his vest revealing one of the most beautiful fish she had ever seen. each scale contained all the colors of the rainbow and shined from the slightest shimmer

“.....wh-where”

“?”

“Were did you get her?”

“A couple of miles from gardenview, my boat drifted a bit to far when i fell asleep, but im glad it did.” after a bit of silence Finn took Vee’s hands in his, grabbing her attention from admiring the colorful fish.

“When my boat went adrift i was scared, especially since the storm rocked my boat and launched me into the water were i was unable to swim back to it. I was left alone in the middle of the storm. But Then i saw a small glimmer from below me, its colors was so captivating i just had to follow it. And so i did, i followed it, and follow it and followed it until i caught it. And when i looked around i realized that i was back at gardenview, this little glimmer saved me from being lost at sea forever.” Finn cups Vee’s screen cheeks once more

“Do you know why i want give you this?”

“No… why”

“I wanted to show you this, because you are my glimmer of light guiding me through hell and high water, you are the reason im alive today. You gave me hope when it was flayed from me every step of the way.”

 

“I wouldn't be alive without you. And thats something i forever cherish you for.”

 

“Thank you”
