Chapter Text
She stared at the portrait of her family. When she was five. When her parents were alive and Boruto was still here.
Now, it was her and Kawaki, and nothing makes sense. How is Kawaki her real brother and Boruto isn't? How could Boruto look more similar to her than Kawaki? How does someone as soft as Boruto could kill her parents but someone heartless as Kawaki couldn’t?
"What do you think, Kurama?" She asked the other inhabitant of her body, hoping that he would give her the same answer her mind is suggesting.
"I would say, that you follow your intuition." Kurama answers, still laying in their mindscape without opening his eyes.
Himawari smiles, "I think I began to like you."
Boruto would escape for sure, and that would be the chance for her to follow him. She quickly reached for her closet and took out her backpack that had the Uzumaki crest on. She quickly left the room to pick up the first aid kit, several pain killers, canned food, and some cash that she and Kawaki kept in the emergency cash envelope. She then returned back to her room and shoved them inside the bag and shoved an extra change of clothes, the small photo of her family, the only one that Kawaki wasn't in, the one when she and Boruto were still little, way before her father became the Hokage. Then she started looking and checking her drawers in case she forgot something. Only to open a drawer that contained her father's orange jacket.
She stared. Tears swelling in her blue eyes. Her blue eyes that her father and Boruto share, her eyes that has the same powers as her mothers. She picked it up, and let it rest in her hands. Her father used to wear it when he was her age. He had loved orange ever since he was little. Will she always wear yellow even when she becomes an adult? She hopes so, yellow is the best. Sunflowers are yellow, and sunflowers are the prettiest thing to exist.
She walked to her mirror, the jacket still in her hand as she stared at her reflection. She gulped, she had to do this, she can't remain a prisoner of Konoha's lies for a the rest of her life. Boruto is here, this is her only chance. If she doesn't woman up and do it, she might not see him again.
In a swish, she put on the orange jacket. It was perfectly her size. She took out her long hair that got stuck underneath the jacket, threw her bag on her back, and quickly jumped out of the window to a tree, and then to another tree, then above the roof of a random building. She ran and jumped from roof to roof until she was close to the Torture and Investigation unit, where she knows that Boruto is kept.
'Don't come closer.' Kurama suddenly said, still keeping his eyes shut, 'They'll sense you.'
"Great information! I never knew that!" Himawari sarcasmly replied.
Byakugan.
She stared at the T&I building through her piercing blue eyes. She could see Boruto and...
Mitsuki.
He was in his 'magical fighting mode'. For a second, she thought that he is trying to kill Boruto and was about to intervene, but as she watched closely, she realized that he was trying to free him. A wide smile drew on her face, and it quickly faded the moment Boruto disappeared.
"Flying Thunder God?" She asked herself, then turned around to look for Boruto.
'West.' Kurama stated.
She nodded, and quickly sprinted west. If she is fast enough, she can follow him.
'He's fast. Might even be faster than Grandfather.' Himawari thought, but quickly Kurama intervened.
'Nahh. He's still not match. He's heading to get his weapons.'
He was right. He still isn't out of the village. She can see him picking up his weapons. And in a second, he disappeared again. Still, her Byakugan could see him, barely through the outskirts of the village. She focused more chakra into her feet and quickly ran.
'Faster!' She kept telling herself. She finally landed on the walls surrounding the village. Then jumped towards the closest tree branch, then another. Faster. This wasn't enough. Through her Byakugan, she could see two chakra points on her thighs. She poked them with her fingers that were covered by a small amount of chakra and pushed more chakra into her feet. A trick Aunt Hanabi taught her.
Much faster, she ran through the trees. Until she was only several feet away from Boruto. She smiled widely to herself. She can finally talk to him properly without Kawaki intervening or a stupid Otsutsuki trying to kill her.
He then stopped. And she stopped too and held into the tree trunk.
"Himawari. I know you're here." Boruto yelled out to her.
Of course he knew! He is the 'Genius Boruto' after all!
She jumped down from the tree and walked through the bushes. Her heart pounding in her chest. No, her stomach. No, Kurama is in her stomach. Well, Dad said that Kurama used to be in his stomach. So is Kurama the one pounding?
'No you idiot!'
Boruto raised his sword at her. She didn't flinch. He isn't going to hurt her. If he wanted, he would have let Jura kill her earlier. He then lowered the sword, staring at the bright orange jacket she was wearing. With the same blue eye she has, her Dad and Grandfather had.
"What do you want with me?" Boruto asks, turning on his heels to leave her behind, "Return to your village before that shit of a Hokage makes a fuss about it."
"What could he do? Accuse you of killing me like he did about Mom and Dad?"
"Again, what do you really want with me?"
Himawari took a deep breathe. She isn't supposed to panic. Hell, she is the Hokage's and Byakugan Princess's daughter. She is not supposed to be scared.
"Who killed Mom and Dad?" She finally asked.
Boruto turned his head back and continued to walk, and Himawari followed. He wasn't running away from her. He probably just want to be as far as possible. He then started sprinting, slowly than earlier. Does he thinks that she's slow enough and she couldn't follow him?
In a surprise, half a dozen of Kunai came into her direction. Himawari dodged them quickly. What the hell is wrong with this guy?
He stopped and turned to her direction, then took out his sword. His eye piercings through hers.
Byakugan.
He wanted a fight? She shall grant him his wish. She took her stance and poured the right amount of chakra in her palm. In a second, Boruto ran for an attack that her eyes could totally see. She can see his chakra pouring into his left arm, and as soon as he came into her fingers reach, she aimed for the chakra point in his left arm that held his sword. He seemed to notice her intent to block the chakra in his arm and pulled back. She took her chance and out her hands in the familiar hand signs.
Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu!
She could see the surprise in Boruto eye. Did he think that she didn't have enough chakra? She even has chakra that's way more than his. Hell, hers is even equivalent to Dad.
Her clones headed for their attacks while she watched from a tree a bit far as Boruto slayed clone by clone. She then made more clones and merged between them. For now, she'll assume that he doesn't have the Byakugan, therefore he can't find out which one is real. While he took out the rest of the clones she fixed her posture. A foot on the front, and a foot on the back. Her left palm low, and the right one in a normal elevation or whatever aunt Hanabi called it, and waited till he came an inch into her circle.
Either he was really dumb, or he was easy on her. Because it's obvious what she is planning.
She might not be a genius like Boruto, but she isn't nothing. She isn't just the dead Hokage's daughter living under her family's shadows. She was a kunoichi, and a skilled one.
She and Aunt Hanabi sat together, eating lunch. It was her first lunch as a genin, after graduating from the academy. It was really difficult to create a clone with her immense chakra, but it was with the help of Aunt Hanabi that she finally managed to control her chakra perfectly.
The two were finish with their plates, and as soon as Himawari turned to pick up the plates, Aunt Hanabi called out her.
"Hima, let's go outside for a moment." Aunt Hanabi said, with a small smile on her face.
Himawari nodded and headed outside as her aunt instructed. She stood at the middle of the yard and Aunt Hanabi stood in front to her.
"Since you got perfect control of your chakra, and officially made a genin," Aunt Hanabi started, "I'll teach you a new technique. Consider it your graduation present."
Himawari's face lit up. She was going to learn technique. Not the basic techniques they were taught at the academy, and not the same Hyuuga Taijutsu she had been learning ever since she was three.
"Would you mind making a couple of clones to show you how it works?"
"UH! Yeah! Sure sure!" Himawari then made a dozen clones.
"Watch closely." Aunt Hanabi instructed. Himawari already turned her Byakugan on. The most important part of any technique is how and where does the chakra flows. In a rasingan, more chakra is located at the hand, spiraling in two directions, in Sarada's Fireball jutsu, it's traveling from her chest till it exits from her mouth, in a genjutsu, the chakra circulates to the opposite direction, not the usual clockwise motion.
The chakra were not spread evenly in Aunt Hanabi's palms. It focused more in the fingertips, more at the index and middle finger, and also at her biceps. Her hips wasn't straight, her left arm and foot were in front of her. Her right foot was back and her right arm was at the height of her hips.
Himawari's clones attacked, and she saw as Aunt hit every single clone with the tips of her fingers. One hit, and the clone disappeared. Quick and fast moves that it needed a Sharingan to track down. And in less than a minute, all her clones were gone.
"Eight Trigrams: Sixty Four Palms." Aunt Hanabi said, deactivating her Byakugan. Himawari's eyes widened, it wasn't just any technique, "This was Neji's signature move."
Boruto let out a smirk as he managed to get out of her range, "You're way more than what I expected."
"Leave me for three years and expect me to be the same little Hima, little Boruto Uzumaki?"
"Otsutsuki." Boruto wrongly corrected.
Himawari stared at him with out blinking. Did he just lied in to her face and expected her to walk with the pace of the Old-Man-Shikamaru's-Dirty-Beard-Ass-Hair lie?
"Fuck the village." Himawari cursed out. "You're an Uzumaki! You'll always be an Uzumaki!"
