Failstates

Summary:

Viktor "A," the mage who transcended mortality, reached over and over through the expanse of the Arcane to find an end to the eternal cycle he and Jayce are bound to. The journey finally over, he watches as his own Jayce is freed from the suffering they've endured for far, far too long, and quietly awaits his turn.
It does not come. Clearly there is work still to do.
Lost and now without purpose for the first time in eons, Viktor turns his energy toward the first act of atonement that comes to mind: rescuing Jayce "C," a variant whose unique circumstances have left him trapped in his dead-end timeline for over a decade. Perhaps if he can find somewhere safe for this Jayce to exist, he will finally earn his own story's end.
If only it were that easy. Viktor A has made a terribly human miscalculation- he failed to consider that he and Jayce C may have different expectations when it comes to their 'temporary' arrangement.

theme/concept ideation for viktor A. predominantly focused on plato's concept of anamnesis, platonic epistemology in general, and some ideas rooted in gnosticism.

Chapter 2: 1.5 Interlude

Summary:

A moment between chapters. Viktor takes Jayce somewhere. Jayce is so relieved to not go back to his timeline that he doesn't ask questions just yet. They're both adjusting. Jayce makes a poor attempt at a joke to cut the tension.

Notes:

After some thinking I decided to turn the "bonus comic" at the end of each chapter into proper little mini segments bridging them/providing a teaser. They're also an opportunity for me to tackle a moment that doesn't quite fit tone-wise with the chapter.

I chose to hold off on sharing the Ch.2 designs because I'd rather not spoil them yet. Better payoff!

Thanks for waiting. Forgive these dudes and their awkward attempts at making things a little lighter lol. Will do my best to get Ch.2 to you all at a reasonable pace.
