Summary:

Falling in love wasn’t on Kay’s plan but now he can’t imagine his life with any other than AJ. Soft, fulfilling, reassuring love is the default when you’re with someone you truly love. That doesn’t mean jealousy leaves the conversation. Just how you choose to talk about it (or not) that matters.

Notes:

I love them so much, I had to write another fanfic.

please enjoy :)

Chapter Text

The set of Revamp buzzed with its usual chaos—crew members shifting lights, adjusting cameras, voices overlapping as last-minute script changes were called out. Kay stood off to the side, script in hand, though he wasn’t reading it. He didn’t need to.

He could feel someone watching him.

When he looked up, Guide was leaning against a nearby wall, arms crossed, wearing that smirk that always seemed like he knew something no one else did.

Kay exhaled through his nose, glancing away. Guide was new to the cast—charming, confident, the kind of person who could turn the smallest interaction into something that felt personal. He had a way of making people lean in without realizing it, of touching just enough to make it feel natural.

And lately, Kay had noticed how much of that attention was directed at him.

He hadn’t thought much of it at first. Guide was just friendly. But the way his hand would brush Kay’s wrist in passing, how he always found a reason to stand too close, to make eye contact that lingered—it was getting harder to ignore. And today, Guide wasn’t even trying to be subtle.

Across the set, AJ saw everything.

He told himself it was nothing. Kay was his boyfriend. They trusted each other. That was the foundation of their relationship.

But then Kay laughed at something Guide said, a quiet chuckle that made Guide’s smirk widen. And suddenly, trust wasn’t enough to stop the sharp pull in AJ’s chest.

He clenched his jaw, forcing himself to look away.

Their relationship wasn’t built on jealousy. If something was bothering him, he’d talk to Kay about it. That’s what they did.

Especially after last night.

His fingers curled slightly at the memory—Kay in bed, voice quieter than usual, admitting the things he rarely said out loud. What if I’m not enough? What if I mess this up? AJ had held him close, brushed his lips against Kay’s temple, and told him the only thing that mattered.

"You’re enough, Kay. You’ve always been enough."

AJ meant it. Kay didn’t have to prove anything. He didn’t have to earn his place in AJ’s life. But AJ wished—God, he wished—Kay could see himself the way AJ did.

Still, when Guide’s hand brushed Kay’s arm again, AJ had to dig his nails into his palm to keep himself in place. Trust him.

Kay must have felt the shift because when he glanced over, AJ wasn’t looking at him anymore. His focus was locked on something else, jaw tight.

Kay hesitated before making his way over. “Hey. You okay?”

AJ blinked, snapping out of his thoughts. He forced a small smile. “Yeah. Just tired.”

Kay studied him, unconvinced. His fingers twitched like he wanted to reach out, but he held back. Instead, he leaned in slightly, voice softer. “You sure?”

AJ hesitated, then nodded. “Yeah.”

Kay didn’t push. He knew AJ too well. Instead, he gave his arm a small squeeze before stepping back.

Before he could say more, the director called his name. “Kay, Guide—quick change to the scene. We need more tension in the confrontation.”

Kay glanced at AJ once more before heading over.

As Kay walked toward Guide, he felt Guide’s gaze land on him. Guide’s smirk never faltered, but his eyes seemed to linger just a little longer than usual, a subtle trace of something more beneath the surface. Kay swallowed hard, trying to shake the feeling that Guide was enjoying this a little too much.

“Ready for the scene?” Guide asked, his voice light, but there was an edge to it that Kay didn’t miss.

Kay’s eyes flickered to the floor for a moment. He wasn’t sure if Guide was simply playing the part or if there was something more. Either way, he had to stay focused. “Let’s just get it done.”

Guide’s smirk only deepened, and Kay knew something wasn’t quite right. The way Guide was looking at him now… it wasn’t just casual.

Flipping through his notes the director gave his intructions. “Guide, during the argument, you’re going to bite Kay. A dominance thing, a way to show control. Kay, you react with shock but hold your ground. Got it?”

Kay suppressed a sigh. He didn’t love the idea of Guide’s teeth anywhere near him, but it was part of the job. “Got it.”

Guide grinned. “I’ll be gentle.”

Kay didn’t return the smile. “Let’s just get it done.”

The scene started.

Guide grabbed Kay’s wrist, yanked him forward, and—without hesitation—sank his teeth into Kay’s arm.

Harder than necessary.

Kay stiffened, breath catching, but stayed in character. His reaction was real, sharp with surprise, and the scene ended in a charged silence.

The director called cut. “Perfect! That’s the tension we needed.”

Kay exhaled, stepping back as Guide finally let go after letting his hand linger around his wrist. His arm throbbed the pain of the bite worsening as time passed. Glancing down, Kay noticed the faint red imprint already forming on his skin.

Guide gave him a slow once-over, smirking. “Didn’t think you’d react like that. You okay?”

Kay didn’t bother responding already walking away ready to head home.

Hours later, they stepped into their apartment as Kay rolled the day wearing on his shoulders. “I need a shower.”

AJ locked the door behind them food in hand as he was, as Kay peeled off his hoodie and kicked off his shoes.

Then he saw it.

A darkening mark on Kay’s arm standing out just above the wrist.

His stomach dropped as he rushed to Kay grabbing his arm thinking he injured himself on set. “What happened?”

Kay glanced down, frowning as he realized how deep the color the mark was becoming. “The bite scene. Guide got a little too into it.”

AJ went still. He rememberedKay and Guide getting noted from the director but he walked away not getting to see anything. “…He bit you?”

Kay winced at the tone. It was rare for AJ to get jealous. “Yeah...It was in the script.”

AJ’s jaw tightened. He stepped closer, fingers ghosting over the bruise. It wasn’t just a mark. It was deliberate.

Kay saw the shift in his expression and quickly racked his brain for any way of mending his mood before he got too upset, “AJ.”

AJ didn’t look up. He exhaled slowly, fingertips trailing just beside the bruise. His voice was quieter this time. “Did it hurt?”

Kay hesitated. “Not really."

Lie.

AJ could see it in the way Kay avoided his gaze, the way his muscles tensed slightly under his touch. His fingers brushed over the bruise again, feeling the heat of Kay’s skin beneath them, the protective surge in his chest growing stronger. It wasn’t just the mark that bothered him—it was the fact that Kay had been hurt.

For the first time all day, jealousy wasn’t the issue anymore. It was something deeper.

Something protective.

Kay gently pulled his arm back, forcing a smirk trying to make light of the situation. “Don’t get all broody about it. It’s nothing.”

AJ didn’t respond right away he understood that the mark meant nothing to Kay but to him no matter how elementary it seems the whole thing was rubbing him the wring way.

Kay turned toward the bathroom taking before stoppingin his tracks, he turned calling over his shoulder, “I’m showering. You coming?”

AJ stayed quiet for a beat. Then, finally—

“…Yeah.”

And as he followed Kay inside, he wasn’t thinking about Guide anymore.
