Futile Anticipation

Summary:

Takes place after the events of the Ruin DLC

Eclipse is left alone and isolated in what was once the daycare - and to him, it still is. How long will he wait there for kids to start coming back to stay? Will he realise and come to terms with the disrepair the daycare is in? Will he find answers to what happened?

Notes:

Hello! This is my first fic on AO3, I haven't got a lot of it written out yet but I'm planning to continue writing chapters for it, and I'm more than open to ideas on where I could take this!

I'm planning to likely add more comfort in future chapters and bring in other characters depending on the feedback I get.

I hope you enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Focus

Chapter Text

It felt odd. The whole of the Daycare did. His sensors were telling him that nothing was wrong with the place, maybe aside from a few minor tweaks and some much-needed cleaning. But something else was wrong, he could feel it. This was the Daycare, Eclipse could say that for certain, but something just seemed... different.

Well, whatever it was, it didn't stand out to him as a safety issue currently, so his main focus was getting the place cleaned up and ready for all of the kids who would be arriving by the morning.

It had been... well, he wasn't really sure how long it had been, being stuck inside of the daycare with its now subpar lighting, but it felt like several days had passed since the encounter with that little girl.

However, despite his dedicated and lengthy cleaning process, no children had shown up at the Daycare since that one encounter. He didn't even remember the last time a child had actually stayed at the daycare to be taken care of.

That thought scared him.

It led him to realise he didn't really remember anything from before he met that young girl and got her to safety. Maybe she'd know something - she had to know what was going on outside of there - but alas, there was no way he'd be able to find her and ask now. At the moment that they'd met, his protocols simply took over completely due to the state of disrepair the area was in, so he had no chance to interact with her outside of that.

What was he supposed to do now? How could he get the information he wanted?

Though, does he really need answers? Especially right now, he needed to clean up the Daycare some more, ready for the next day. The place could never be too clean after all!

And so, he did yet another round of the daycare to ensure it was all cleaned up nicely ready for when kids would eventually show up.

Though, in reality, as much as an improvement his cleaning made compared to before, the place was still in grave disrepair.

Notes:

Thank you for reading!!

Again, I'd love to hear anyone's ideas for future chapters with this and just general feedback too!
