Chapter Text
Sora could feel her body ache as the cold rain assaulted her, and the blurry vision of her eyes started to wear off. However, everything around her was soft and green. She wanted to wonder why she was on or why the surrounding ground looked so soft and far greener than she remembered, but she could probably shake it off as another world that she ended up in. She sighed, knowing she was safe away from those monsters that overtook her island, meaning she could relax for a moment.
Although, as the young teen raised her arms up, she quickly wondered why her feet felt funny as she took a look down to make sure they weren't broken from battling that monster or the flight she got sent on. Sora's eyes widened at the sight before her; instead of feet, she could see a green fishtail that flapped for a moment, as the shock of being a mermaid began affecting her brain, forcing the teen to take a deep breath as the only thing left was to see what else had changed towards her appearance. For a moment Sora wondered if this was just a dream or some temporary form due to some strange magic that had been cast before she was sent flying through a horde of monsters. But then the question of how that was possible?
Her mother had never learned to use magic, and nobody on her island except for the blue-haired woman who came ten years ago even used magic. Sure, she didn't hate the idea of becoming a mermaid, loving the idea that the stories that her mother had told her for years had become a reality. But if that was the case, why didn't it happen during the fall of her island and having a giant key that is like a sword? Surely, if she had been affected by magic, would it have happened during the fight for her life? Sora pondered that thought for a moment, rubbing her green scaly tail, thinking that it would have been an easier fight on the island if she was in the sea; after all, those monsters didn't look like they could swim.
It was all so strange and quite interesting. As Sora looked at her new body, her skin was now green, very smooth and softer than when she was a human. She didn't even mind the fact she was green and somehow had a blue top on after landing in this new world. It was more difficult than the idea of being a normal-looking mermaid of fairy tales or one of those horrible sirens that would drown men and lead them to the depths.
Sora could only look at herself with a sense of administration that came from seeing how different she was compared to her life as a human. It was like she had become a model; her waist was now smaller and more attractive. Sora also noticed how her spiky brown hair was now blending into a darker green color as her long ponytail was reaching the green ground below her. But the fact of a literal form and world change wasn't the strangest thing she was seeing right now!
Sora noticed that the ground wasn't just soft but had an ending to its beautiful appearance, meaning something was at the end of her view! The rest of the world was beyond this grass; granted, it wasn't normal grass, far softer like it had been sculpted from a literal paradise. Suddenly the surface beneath her began to rise and fall, sending the little mermaid flying into the air, seeing the building beneath her, and then she saw something that made her jaw drop in excitement and wonder. She had been lying next to a giant green tail that was barely contained by the small district that she had found. Everything was so funny—how the teen couldn't have noticed a giant tail was nearby her, meaning she must have been on the creature's back or stomach.
Although Sora felt a little dumbfounded as she questioned how she didn't realize the fact that it was a giant mermaid, one who must have been gigantic by the fact that the tail itself was bigger than the tallest building that she could see, as she turned within the air to see the face of the mermaid who had sent her flying into the air. Sora could only stare at the mermaid's face; it was as green as her own. Her body was so tall, definitely bigger than a couple of buildings, maybe a little over 100 feet, roughly 108 feet tall if her rough guess was actually possible. She looked like an angel that the sea, and every goddess that ruled over it, scalped in their image to make the most lovely mermaid that she couldn't even have dreamed about.
Sora smiled as she found herself on top of the mermaid's head, landing on a giant blue crystal jewel. She could feel her heart flutter with each breath that was taken from the oversized teen. The giant mermaid was very attractive, revealing large breasts and eyes that shined brighter than the most beautiful jewel in the universe. Her hair was a long dark Green-blue and smelt like the sea breeze was mixed with an array of fruits and the fanciest of salts to showcase how she was the queen of the sea. The sides of her tail that connected to her waist had pink and blue colors surrounding it that made her look even cuter, as Sora was in awe at the thought of the mermaid goddess. Even the pink ends of her tail were a sight to behold and something she didn't want to look away from, viewing the fins like a human would lust over a person's feet. Quickly, Sora leapt off of the mermaid's jewel, falling back down towards the stomach area of the green person, only to be caught and brought up by one of the giant hands of the giga mermaid.
“Oh my goodness, you're beautiful!” Sora shouted, as her mind felt like it was shutting down processing the fact that she was laying in the hand of a giant mermaid who looked like an utter queen based on the fact that she was probably bigger than a whale, and in her honest opinion, queen was the only thing that made sense, as Sora felt her breathing increase under the giantesses gaze.
“Why thank you, little one? I see that Tuki’s item did more than find me someone to love me for who I am! It seems that you are taking this change and the new much cuter appearance a lot differently than I expected, but nevertheless, my name is Giga Mermaid, but if you'd like, just call me Giga; it's a lot easier since we'll be spending a lot of time together. Now, would you kindly tell me your name, my little angelfish? As well as this place called Destiny Island, it sounds delightful, almost as fantastic to think about as my beloved Mermaid Falls! Please tell me your stories. I'm sure we have all day if this rain is strong; our gills should be ok with this horrific weather.” Giga Mermaid said that as Sora marveled at the voice of the mermaid, she would have assumed that the giant mermaid would be loud and overbearing, but it was the opposite. The queen was soft and had a voice that was softer than vanilla and calmer than the waves of her island. She wanted more; even the idea of talking in the rain sounded very soothing to the newly transformed mermaid.
“Well, my name is Sora Venus Seabloom! Um, my Mom is named Aphrodite, like the fabled goddess of love, war, and the sea! My world of Destiny Island is nice and quiet; you'd love it; the sea is crystal clear; the ocean is vast and boundless; and the people that live on the island are a delight.” Sora let out feeling a quick sigh, proceeding to catch her breath, not thinking she'd have to spew a good chunk of simple information in one breath, as the giant mermaid grinned and gently placed the tip of her finger against the girl's face in order to calm the mermaid down from rambling in excitement over her daily life.
“Oh, I must say that sounds wonderful. I think it is best to allow me a chance to speak, my energized beloved. You have so much energy; for one of your size, it's almost like being with Shantae and her friends all over again. It's making my head spin just a little, although it does make me feel happy, enough to re-explain what I said a second ago, because you are really touching my heart, Angelfish. Your island sounds just as wonderful as my Mermaid Falls. Now I wish it was still around. Tell me, is your island still safe from those vile monsters that rampaged my paradise?” Giga said as she looked down upon Sora’s face, noticing the teen's smile quickly fading, signaling the worst option did happen. She had lost her world as well and ended up in this rainy city.
“Unfortunately not; I lost everything to those monsters as well. Honestly, if it weren't for you talking to me and the insanity of your wonderful size, I would have been crying in a corner, freaking out, wondering where my mother went, and what I was going to do. Although now I wonder, what should we do? Can we even make it off of this world or find people who can help because I would expressly like to find my mother, I bet she is worried about me?” Sora let out a sigh, thankful that the rain was covering up the tears rolling down her face.
“Well, I saw other worlds as I was being flung from my kingdom to this small town. I'm betting we can find your Mother and my friend Shantae; I'm sure they'll know how to fix things, and if we're lucky we can find some of my mermaid friends, maybe they can help us out. Because I am going to make sure that you're happy being part of my mermaid kingdom. After all, it’ll be easy to get off this world; we just have to get over this silly wall first and find people in one of the other districts that I saw as I landed.” Giga declared, flashing Sora a big toothy grin, showing the green mermaid, a giant row of sharp whites that put the greatest of sharks to shame. As Sora couldn't help but smile alongside the queen, it was like her spirits were being fixed; maybe it was possible, her Mom was strong, she could probably fix this mess and save the world's?
“All right, we'll go and find other people, but will you be okay climbing over the wall? I know it'll break like a twig, but what if people get mad?” Sora whispered, as the giant mermaid laughed for a second as she began to slide her gigantic tail and body around, brushing against the third district wall that connected to the first district. Giga simply raised her hands to show Sora a glimpse of most of the world, as the young mermaid was in awe at the sight before her. Sora could feel the wind and rain blowing against her skin as she gazed upon the world, spying a clock tower, many shops in the distance, and the stars—oh, the universe full of beautiful stars and worlds that just screamed to be explored.
“You see, my princess, we shouldn't worry about the small details when the beauty of our friendship through these tiny places is what should matter! If damages happen, then it's not my fault that this town wasn't built for us, compared to the rest of these people beneath us, but it doesn't matter when all it takes is time to understand what it takes to see everything.” Giga declared, grabbing hold of the brick wall like it was paper, barely making an afford to use her strength, knocking the wall down to the ground with a proud smile on her face.
Sora looked in awe at the Queen, understanding in that instance what Giga had meant. Sora could feel it, despite the cold rain and wind brushing against her green scales. Now it was time for the stupid world order law that her father had told her to be broken; people needed to see their friendship in action. They would show every single world they graced that nothing would be normal as they fought the darkness and gave the fading light its glorious rebirth.
“I think I know what you mean; let's find our friends and show these people just what we can do, my wondrous beloved!” Sora yelled, as the green mermaid gazed in delight at the sight of they gazed upon at the stars, knowing that today was a new day, one where even the tiniest world would know who they were as the giant mermaid and Sora started heading into the second district, as a question slowly started to enter her mind, how was she going to be with Giga if she was only as small as a human. Maybe her chance to change or solve her problem would come once they got off this tiny world?
