Chapter 1: Chapter One, The Decision

Chapter Text

Life had been crazy for the past few weeks, but it was finally calming down. N and Uzi had been enjoying their dating life. It was going really well by the standards of everyone who saw them. The pair were also doing well by their own standards. They were still pretty young, so they were stuck living with Uzi’s parents. At least they had each other for support. The pair enjoyed the time they were spending together, and they were being the typical affectionate PDA couple.

One day, the pair were waking up, and Khan was standing above them. Uzi was the first to wake, and she immediately did what I wanted to do the entire time I was watching the show: smacked her dad upside the head. Khan glared at his daughter, who just rolled her eyes at him. Nori, who was watching the scene unfold from the corner, started laughing so hard it would’ve been concerning if she was a human. Khan looked at Nori, a look of bewilderment and betrayal in his eyes.

“Let Uzi sleep without an audience, I guess.” Nori said, trying to calm her laughter.

“It still hurt.” Khan complained.

“Bite me.” Uzi said, rolling over dramatically.

Uzi’s parents looked at her like they didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Nori eventually chose the former, much to Khan’s dismay.

“Why are you all mocking me?” Khan asked.

“You’re not getting mocked, don’t worry.” Nori said, stifling her laughter.

Khan rubbed his head where Uzi had slapped him, as if he’d only just felt the pain from it now. Nori stopped laughing and put her tentacle thing over her light voicebox thing (A/N: Words are hard and idk what to call half these things I mostly write in TADC asdfhhjjkg). She was obviously forcibly stifling her laughter. Just then, the couple started waking up together, actually waking up. Nori felt mildly guilty and scuttled away.

“Why do you guys have to watch me sleep?” Uzi whined.

“We want to keep you safe, Uzi.” Khan said gently.

“Why don’t you trust my choices?” Uzi asked with more pep in her step.

“Well, it’s just that you’ve barely graduated high school and we’re not sure you’re mature enough to handle yourself.” Nori said from her hidey-hole.

“Bite me, I’m 20!” Uzi said, growling.

“You were only 16 four years ago, though.” Khan said.

“Yeah, that’s how aging works. I bet you didn’t even notice when I turned 18.” Uzi said.

“I did!” Khan said, offended.

“Riiight. And I’m a single mom of four.” Uzi said, sitting up.

“I’d prefer it if I’m not the first grandma drone on Copper-9.” Nori said.

“Oh, please, N and I would be much better parents than you.” Uzi said before she could stop herself.

“Uzi...” N said, trying to rein his girlfriend in.

Uzi was brought quickly back to reality. “What is it, N?”

“I don’t think we’re quite ready for kids at the moment.” N said.

“Yeah, that’s a given, but maybe when we’re older and more ready?” Uzi said.

N chuckled. “Maybe.”

~~~~~~
It had been a year since Uzi had told her parents she would be a better parent, and N and Uzi were finally moving out. Khan and Nori were somewhat relieved, as they had been mooching for years prior. The now-moving couple had also secretly measured each other’s ring sizes, planning to surprise propose. They didn’t know that this plan was to occur, but Uzi’s parents sure did. N and Uzi had gotten the best place they could, and after they got the last of their stuff there, it felt like home.
Uzi was still itching to propose in the back of her mind, but she decided to do it on their anniversary a week from then rather than right then. However, no matter what she did, Uzi couldn’t keep her mind occupied for that week. She was itching to tell N how much she loved him, and how his affection had changed her life for the better, and how she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him. However, she kept it to herself.
On the day of the anniversary, Uzi pulled N out of the house to go to the doors her father had cared more about than her. N, on the other hand, was also planning to propose, so he kept the ring in his pocket, ready to make his move. Uzi was ready to propose the second they got to the door, but they decided to sit with their thoughts. It was nice to just sit, but both of them were itching to propose to the other and start wedding prep.
Uzi lost all patience then and there and spoke. “N, I have something important to talk to you about.”
N felt his non-existent blood run cold. Had he messed up? Oh god, was Uzi dumping him? Just then, Uzi pulled out a small box and got on one knee.
“From the moment I met you, I knew my adventure had just begun. I fell in love with you for a million tiny reasons, and I want to spend a lifetime discovering more. Our love story is my favorite, and I want it to continue forever. Will you marry me?” Uzi said. “God, I sound so cringey, don’t I? I don’t know where I pulled that from, a dumpster, maybe.”
N chuckled a little, pulling out his ring box. “I had the exact same idea, Uzi.”
“So is it a yes?” Uzi asked nervously.
N laughed. “Of course it is, Uzi. I wouldn’t say no for all the oil in the universe.”
The couple embraced, and all was perfect in the world as they kissed. They felt like nothing could ever touch them, and it was perfect. They were hugging for a long time after that.
~~~~~~

It had been six month since the proposal, and the pair were finally at their wedding venue on the event of their wedding. It was a perfect day, and for some reason, N had been convinced to wear the dress while Uzi was in a suit. They were at the reception after the main event, and they had somehow managed to make a kind of alcohol that wouldn’t short-circuit them.

This was a mistake.

“H-hey *hic* N and *hic* Uzi. Are you *hic* gonna have a baby *hic* now that you’re *hic* married?” Lizzy slurred.

“Maybe, but it’s really none of your business.” Uzi said.

“You totally *hic* should!” Lizzy slurred.

“Bite me, we’re newlyweds!” Uzi said.

“Having a baby *hic* is a reaaalllly *hic* good idea.” Lizzy kept slurring.

“V, come collect your drunk bestie!” Uzi yelled.

“I’m not *hic* drunk.” Lizzy slurred.

V walked in, looking annoyed as she picked up Lizzy, who was blabbing about half disassembly drone babies. Uzi was very annoyed, but poor N had it worse.

“H-hey N. *hic* Let’s smash *hic* without Uzi knowing.” one drunk girl said.

“No, I’m a loyal husband.” N said for the upteenth time.

Uzi and N got tired of this eventually, so they ended up running to the changing rooms and cuddled for about two hours before they went back. By then, every drunk person had been removed to a room for them, leaving Nori, V, and Thad. The couple somehow didn’t mind this, and their wedding was perfect after that point.
