Mapping the Social and Biological Landscapes of the Omegaverse

Summary:

A fanwork written in the style of a research paper describing and explaining the workings of my personal omegaverse design. My ode to the omegaverse.

This work is in no way supposed to tell anyone else how to write the omegaverse, it’s just my interpretation, a project I started as a way to get a more solid understanding of the Omegaverse I wanted to write, which then turned into something much more. Feel free to take bits you like if you want to, this was written for myself and then as it got bigger I thought “Hey, maybe other people would find it interesting too!”

If you read this fic, thank you for giving my silly little research paper fanfic a chance, it was just a bit of fun enrichment for my autism enclosure.

Notes:

Hello, welcome to the 50 thousand word monstrosity of a ‘research paper’ that I wrote because of my autistic love for the omegaverse. I’ve been into the omegaverse for years and years, have had a special interest in it for only a little less time than I’ve been interested in it, and finally decided I wanted to put my ideas down on paper so I could try and build up a list of omegaverse headcanons that I could use when writing to make all my omegaverse works kinda fit in the same universe… and then that ‘list’ became a work of fanfiction in-and-of itself.

This work goes into both the more basic and the more complicated parts of the omegaverse which have generally been adopted as ‘canon’ by most of fandom (think omegas having heats, alphas having knots, betas looking at those two dynamics like ‘wtf you people are insane how do you live like this’) as well as some very specific details I made up for my specific design (e.g. the honorific and sername systems (yes it's spelled wrong on purpose, I promise lol)).

This ‘paper’ covers some heavy topics, such as rape, forced mating bites, underage mating bites, etcetera, and although it isn’t written in the style of a story and heavy topics like those are handled I think not extremely emotively, it could still be triggering for some people, so please read at your own discretion. Chapters will have a little ‘table of contents’ in their start notes which should tell you if a heavy topic comes up in that chapter.

Thank you to my boyfriend for listening to me rant about this. Thank you to the COD ‘Many Masks' discord server for listening to me rant about this and for helping me build up so many of my ideas. Thank you to QD/NGage for also listening to me rant, helping me build ideas, creating the word misomitery, and inventing a whole fictional court case for me to use in this work wtf /pos

This fic is marked as complete, however I still add to it and edit chapters whenever I think of something new, and very occasionally i add a new chapter entirely.
