Chapter Text
Dong Hua is the lead prosecutor in the prosecution department assigned to resolve and prosecute cases concerning children’s and juveniles’ rights.
Bai Feng Jiu is an assistant prosecutor in the prosecution department assigned to resolve and prosecute cases concerning cybercrimes.
Recently, several cases erupted involving children and juveniles being used by syndicates in different cybercrimes.
In an en banc meeting, the prosecution department decided that for these cases to be resolved, the team working on children and juveniles should collaborate or work closely together with the cybercrime team.
A week later, a collaborative meeting was held between the Children and Juveniles’ Rights team headed by Dong Hua and Cybercrime Team headed by Shen Ye.
The Children and Juveniles’ Rights Team A is composed of Dong Hua, Lian Song, Cheng Yu, Si Ming, and Zhong Lin. While the Cybercrime Team A is composed of Shen Ye, Bai Feng Jiu, Xie Gu Chou, Su Moye, and Xiangli Aranya.
Everyone was already at the conference room, case folders on each of the members of both teams. Except for Feng Jiu, who was rushing through the main door, then to the elevator, and then to the conference room. As soon as she entered, Dong Hua who was speaking on how they would investigate the case, suddenly paused speaking. His eyes then went Feng Jiu who was standing a bit awkwardly at the main door. Their eyes locked for a moment. Composing herself, Feng Jiu gave a small bow and apologized for coming in late. She then proceeded to the seat beside Shen Ye. Dong Hua’s famous blank and icy expression returned and continue discussing about the first case they are going to resolve.
While Dong Hua and Shen Ye mainly discussed with each other, as to how to proceed the investigation, Cheng Yu caught Feng Jiu stealing glances on Dong Hua. Feng Jiu and Cheng Yu then exchanged glances and smiled with each other.
Cheng Yu and Feng Jiu became friends when they met during the orientation for when they started joining the prosecution department. However, after the orientation and a year of training, they were assigned to different teams. But on their days off work, they would usually meet with each other, drink wine, and talk anything about the sun, especially about Feng Jiu’s admiration on Dong Hua, which was one of the reasons why she went to law school and her eventually joining the prosecution team.
Cheng Yu and Feng Jiu were stifling their giggles so as not to interrupt the meeting. When Dong Hua and Shen Ye’s discussion ended, Cheng Yu and Feng Jiu also put on their serious faces.
“This ends our meeting today.” Dong Hua said. “We shall begin our investigation next week, after we gather some further information and verify some facts.” Shen Ye added. “The meeting is adjourned for now. We shall see each other next week.” Lian Song stated with a smile on his face.
Cheng Yu then approached Feng Jiu and murmured saying, “So excited to be working with you. See you on the weekend, okay?” “Yes this weekend, see you.” Feng Jiu replied.
